Back at it again with the dragon rider AU. This time with the lovely clown queen @weirdcursedvaultkid‘s mc, Alex Vega and her precious baby dragon, Rosie!
Rosie, much like her rider, is an utter sweetheart and can often be found being babied by Alex. A dragon that is as playful dragon as she is easily distracted, it’s best to keep on eye on this little fella to make sure she’s staying out of trouble! Rosie thinks every dragon she meets wants to play with her, which isn’t always the case. Doesn’t stop her from trying though and is honestly how Rosie has made so many friends amongst the dragons of Hogwarts, including Merula’s dragon, Maxima The Great and Powerful. She’s a bit slower than the other dragons when learning things but she eventually gets there! She’s just as capable, she just takes a little patience and effort (which luckily her rider has much of!). Her bond with Alex makes it so she can easily sense her feelings so if Alex is ever sad or stressed or just needs comfort, Rosie’s always there for her. Rosie is not a violent dragon but she is a very protective one. If she senses Alex is in danger she will do her best to protect her, even turning hostile which is not in her nature.
If she is away from Alex too long, she starts feeling very anxious.
MORE INFO ON ROSIE’S DRAGON SPEICES UNDER THE CUT
Rosie’s species is known as the Padfoot Cotton Terror. These dragons are capable of flying at impressively high altitudes and nest on icy mountaintops, hence the fur coat, large feet and padded toes which allow them to support their weight on the snowy ground. Padfoot Cotton Terror’s are one of the most docile species of dragon in the Wizarding World. With their gentle and protective nature, they are great for beginner dragon riders and also for families with small children. Some caution is needed for handling these dragons though because despite their docile nature, these dragons also own one of the hottest flames in the dragon world. They mostly use this flame to heat their bodies up when flying in high altitudes and in the winter time, so they’re basically toasty marshmallows who won’t mind cuddling with their riders. In fact, these dragons have repeatedly been found by dragonologists and the occasional wandering witch or wizard to be huddling with other creatures during the harsh winter, sharing their heat and warm fur coat with the small woodland fauna. These dragons will often flee at the first sight of danger but if they are unable to, they will use their large, spiked tails to defend themselves. Their thick furred coat also helps to minimize the damage they take from attacks and spells but are a huge hassle for dragon riders. These dragons must be groomed constantly as to avoid their coats from getting tangled or become infested with fleas or ticks. These dragons must also have their coats trimmed in the summer to avoid them overheating themselves. Their fur is often harvested by fashion designers in the Wizarding World for their soft texture and warmth.
The other species names I made for this dragon for Mella to choose from were
cotton haired windglyder
I got inspo for the Cotton Terror from geckos, armadillo lizards, lynx as well as the light fury from HTTYD (which is probably really fucking obvious LMAOOOO)
