A vaginal dilator is a plastic or silicone rod and is typically tapered towards the end. Dilators can help train your vaginal muscles to relax if you experience pain during penetration. I have some information that might be useful for the anon who talked about feeling like there‘s a barrier, because I felt that way, too.

I couldn’t use tampons or even get a pap smear, however, I got my period, which confused my gynecologist. Turns out, in my case there actually was a physical barrier. My doctor called it a „vaginal septum“ (hope I translated it correctly) which basically means my hymen was thicker than it should’ve been and, because of low estrogen levels, never got smaller during puberty.

I had to get it surgically removed and use some estrogen replacement cream and now instead of having Vaginismus prime I‘m just on the normal Vaginismus plan ✌️

Being loomed over. Receiving little flirty comments from someone a hundred times your size. Your difference in size and power is nearly indescribable - you can barely comprehend how large they must be even as you look at them. Their voice comes out as a low rumble, their body moving slower than normal due to the dilation of time caused by their size (or, perhaps, your size), and as their hand reaches down towards you impossibly slowly, you still cant escape it, in all of its vastness. About dilating: is it an option for people who have the type of vaginismus where nothing can be inserted? Sounds like a stupid question but I can't even get the smallest tampon in, it's like there's a physical barrier and all the things I've been told are about dilating. I'm not allowed pelvic floor therapy as I'm not a legal adult (in the UK) and dilators are my only option. Asking here because my GP is not very helpful and i haven't got anyone IRL with actual advice. Thanks in advance.

Hi anon, sorry I missed this for so long! I don't know the answer to this unfortunately, maybe a follower can say if they have any experience with it. The smallest dilator in my pack is around a centimeter diameter, so maybe a bit smaller than the smallest tampons (and smoother) but still big enough that it might not work for you if you can't get any opening at all.
