when kaeya was a kid his most exacerbated reaction to getting hurt was a very pointed "ow" and one tear at most. meanwhile when diluc got hurt he would wail and sob and sniffle around all day afterwards. and yknow what i think that their essence hasn't changed now that they're adults. kaeya who says "this doesn't.. look good.." when he dies in game and diluc who says "my flame.....has been..extinguished....." like okay. we still know who's the most dramatic out of the two

his love is a fire, you're a moth. he's terrified of burning you away past repair, he always has been even before getting into this romantic relationship with you. but even when you get caught up in the flames... you didn't let go of his hand, instead squeezing it tighter as a form of reassurance. even when you know you'll get burned... it doesn't stop you from smiling so affectionately at him, so full of care and unconditional love. the flames never stopped you from loving him.
xiao, wanderer, diluc + your faves ♡

𝐀 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐄 ∴ feat. diluc
diluc was an enigma of carefully hidden truths and igniting flames. even as his lover, you knew very little about him.
you knew that he enjoyed the occasional game of chess and that he hated wine with a passion. his favorite flowers were small lamp grass and he absolutely despised waking up early in the mornings.
but you didn't know why diluc disappeared at night, only to come back to you with bloodstained clothes and an apologetic smile. you knew better than to question him, choosing to silently bandage his wounds and gently work through the tangles in his hair. you ignored the letters scattered throughout the mansion and the carefully polished seashell sitting on his bedside table.
your boyfriend was stoic; a mystery that chose to hide behind an unfeeling mask. so it came as a surprise when diluc let himself go and indulged in one too many drinks one day.
"did i ever tell you," diluc slurred, emphasizing the last word by poking your arm, "that i love you a lot?"
you let out a laugh at the odd display of affection, turning onto your side to face him. "you tell me every morning when we wake up and before we go to bed," you smiled. "is that not enough for you, my dear?"
"'s not enough," he mumbled, shaking his head. he bashfully gazed at you, and your heart stuttered at how much love he held in those scarlet eyes. diluc inched closer to you, bedsheets rustling, before grabbing your face in his hands.
"i love you," he vowed before peppering kisses all over your face. "i love you i love you i love—"
"okay i love you too!" you yelped, a wide smile splitting your face. that seemed to satisfy diluc, who laid back down and snuggled into the blankets.
a moment passed, the cries of the barn owls and the chirping crickets outside filling the silence in the room. you closed your eyes, drowsy from having wrestled your boyfriend into bed earlier.
a warm breath on your neck startled you awake, your eyes snapping open to see diluc peering at you.
"did i ever tell you that i love—"
you slapped a hand over his mouth, glowering at him. "diluc, ask me again and i'll tell kaeya about this!"
diluc quickly stopped talking.

𝐒𝐘𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐌.𝐎𝐔𝐓.𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐓("𝐈 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔") ∴ feat. xiao
you adored your affectionate, alcoholic roommate, but venti's weekly parties always left you trapped in your room with a migraine.
your nails clacked against your keyboard as you furiously typed your one hundred and fifty-seventh line of code for a programming assignment. soft lofi played through your speakers, contrasting the pounding music downstairs, as you compiled your program and prayed it would work.
you slammed your head onto your desk as "SYNTAX ERROR" flashed in bright red letters on your screen. "fucking hell," you swore, cursing yourself for choosing a complicated major and cursing venti for hosting yet another stupid party.
your grumbling was interrupted by the creaking of your door opening and a quiet "oh shit" uttered behind you. you swiveled around in your chair to see a dark figure peering into your room.
a muffled apology came from the doorway but you waved them in. "it's alright, come on in."
the shadow moved towards you. a bare arm emerged, decorated with green markings; a pair of alluring golden eyes followed.
xiao. he was one of venti's closest friends, and a fellow computer science major at your university. the two of you frequently had classes together, but weren't well-acquainted. he was aware of the fact that you were venti's roommate; what he didn't know, however, was that you had the fattest crush on him.
"i'm so sorry," he apologized again. "i was looking for a quiet spot but all the other rooms were locked."
"venti started locking the doors after he found some strangers in his bed," you explained with a smile. "you can stay in here until you leave." you turned back to your laptop, eyeing the error message.
"need help with that?" xiao's voice came from directly behind you. turning, you came face-to-face with his very attractive chest as he leaned down to peer at your screen.
"yes please," you stammered, the close proximity making your heart race. you stood up, turning your chair towards him. "be my guest."
you plopped onto your bed, wrapping yourself in your blanket to hide your rex lapis pajama pants as xiao took your place at your desk. a comfortable silence settled in your room, although you could still hear the faint sound of the music playing downstairs.
propping yourself up on one elbow, you turned onto your side to face him. "i didn't take you as a party person," you commented, absentmindedly picking the dust off of your comforter.
"i'm not." gold eyes briefly glanced at you before returning their attention to your laptop. "venti begged me to come, and i'm here to keep an eye on some friends."
"ah the designated driver," you sighed. "sounds like fun."
xiao hummed in agreement, and your room was silent again.
you quietly admired xiao's profile as he sifted through your program. he was clad in a black sleeveless turtleneck and ripped jeans, his tattoos on full display for your ogling. his hair was messy, like he had been running his hands through it, and his silver rings—rings!—matched the piercings on his ears. you almost couldn't believe that a man this attractive was sitting in your room.
your gaze moved up from his hands to examine his face—to your surprise, xiao was looking at you expectantly.
"sorry, could you repeat that?" you asked sheepishly, feeling your cheeks warm with embarrassment.
he gestured to your laptop, pointing at your screen. "line fifty-six," he replied, hovering the cursor over a part of your program. "you're missing a semi-colon."
you scrambled out of bed to sit at your desk, slamming a finger down on a key before compiling your program. to your (and xiao's) utter relief, the semi-colon was the fix.
"it works!" you exclaimed, kicking your feet in excitement. "oh my archons i could kiss you right now—"
you clapped a hand over your mouth, staring at xiao in horror. he stared back, eyes wide with shock.
"i didn't mean that literally," you stuttered, rubbing the back of your neck awkwardly.
to your surprise, xiao let out a laugh. "it's alright," he chuckled, amusement written all over his face. he opened his mouth to say more, but a sharp ring cut him off. he turned his attention to the phone in his hand, glaring at the screen.
xiao grimaced, pocketing his phone. "heizou and gorou are fighting again, i gotta go." he grabbed a pen from your desk and tore a page out of a notebook, scribbling something onto the paper.
"here, if you need help with a program in the future, just shoot me a text." he slid the page over to you, and with a small wave, he was gone.
the scent of his cologne lingered, a reminder that the past ten minutes had really happened. you glanced down at the note in your hand.
Xiao 000-000-0000 I like your pajamas btw.

𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐘 𝐁𝐀𝐁𝐘! ∴ feat. scaramouche
"scara!" you shrieked, stumbling through the front door. "take your shoes off first!"
your stubborn boyfriend scowled from the end of the hallway, muddy shoes trailing dirt into your shared home. "no," he slurred, crossing his arms. "only drunk people take their shoes off, and i'm not drunk."
"babe, you are most definitely drunk," you gawked at him in disbelief.  "please, can you take your shoes off so i don't have to wipe the floors again?"
your pleas fell on deaf—and drunk—ears as scara raised an eyebrow and dragged his feet across the floor. desperately, you dove down and clung to his legs, hoping to save your carpet from being subjected to any further damage.
"scara please," you begged. "i'll do the dishes for a week and buy you dango milk—just take your shoes off." you reached for his shoelaces, frantically untying a knot before he clumsily shook you off.
"call me that again and i'll listen to you." scara hiccupped once.
you studied him carefully, a smile creeping onto your face. "call you what?" you teased.
scara hiccupped again, looking away from you bashfully. "don't make me say it again," he grumbled.
you reached up to grasp his hand. "babe," you sang. "scara, baby, can you take your shoes off now?"
you heard scara's breath stutter before a sudden flush of red spread across his cheeks. he fumbled with his shoes before kicking them off, a laugh bubbling in your chest as he tugged you off of the floor and dragged you towards your bedroom. you rarely saw scara look so cute; it was easy to forget that your brat of a boyfriend had a soft side, a side that only you were able to see.
perhaps getting him drunk more often wasn't a bad idea.

𝐎𝐅𝐅 𝐋𝐈𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐒 (𝐁𝐔𝐓 𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐏) ∴ feat. gorou
"it's so odd to see the general of the watatsumi army like this," yoimiya observed.
you softly laughed at her comment, gazing down at the man curled up in your lap. gorou had dozed off after a few cups of sake, his head falling into your lap as he burrowed into his tail.
"he's a little tired," you smiled, gently stroking the fluff on his ears. "thoma tried to teach him how to make sweaters for the dogs in konda village—although i don't think it went well."
you told yoimiya about the scraps of yarn that gorou had dejectedly brought home, drawing peals of laughter out of your friend. as conversation flowed easily between the two of you, your hand slowly stopped stroking the pair of ears in your lap.
you were intensely recounting the latest neighborhood gossip when a sudden whine interrupted you, drawing your attention to the forgotten general in your lap. still asleep, your disgruntled lover yanked your hands back down to his head; as you tangled your fingers in his hair again, his tail began to wag, thumping against the aralia wood floors.
"oh—that's quite cute," yoimiya squealed, amusement evident in her voice. "he's just like taroumaru! do you mind if I take a picture?"
a few weeks later, rumor had it that the watatsumi army general hugged his tail while sleeping. when gorou interrogated you about the gossip, you feigned innocence.

𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐋𝐄 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒? ∴ feat. zhongli
you wandered into the kitchen, looking to clear your head with a cold glass of water—only to find your boyfriend rummaging through the fridge.
"zhongli?" you gaped at him. "what are you doing?"
he swiftly turned, revealing a jar of peanut butter in one hand and an apple in the other. "oh," zhongli uttered. "hello, dear. did you know peanut butter with xylitol is harmful to dogs?" he lightly swayed in place, his eyes unfocused and hazy.
"archons, how much did you have to drink?" you questioned, grabbing his arm to support his teetering frame.
"i'm not that drunk," he claimed loudly. clambering towards the kitchen counter, he began clumsily digging through the drawers. "could you find me a knife, dear? i want this apple."
you tugged him away from the counter and shoved him to sit on the floor. "stay," you commanded, pointing at the ground. you managed to find a knife and crouched down next to your pouting boyfriend, cutting into the apple.
you offered zhongli a piece and he took it, munching on the fruit. "did you know it takes thirty-six apples to make a gallon of apple cider?" he chattered. "and about four hundred grapes to make a bottle of wine. i wonder how diluc does it all? speaking of diluc, he—"
before he could go off on a tangent about diluc's winery, you shoved the rest of the apple in his mouth.
"zhongli, i love you but i refuse to listen to the entire history of dawn winery tonight!"

a/n ∴ i would have added tighnari but i think he'd do shrooms instead. as usual reblogs and feedback are highly welcomed

secret valentine ft. diluc and venti
Tumblr media
today’s date is something that becomes even more painfully obvious to you as you walk the path towards your first class of the day. there are more people scattered around the campus grounds, peers and couples alike exchanging gifts, the spirit of love and giving in the air.
you smile to yourself as you glance down at the extra bag of gifts you brought with you today. it’s valentine’s day today, and while you might not have a special someone in mind to spend the rest of the day with, you did plan to hang out with your friends after classes today, and you might have prepared a little something to give to each of them too. you don’t care much for the occasion itself, but it’s always nice to put smiles on the faces of people you hold dear to you, and give a little thanks for their companionship.
you continue walking to your classroom, the small smile still on your face at the nice weather and the lighthearted mood. when you arrive, you greet your classmates with a good morning! and a happy valentine’s!, thanking those who hand you any presents. you turn to your desk, finding some of your friends surrounding your desk, chattering amongst themselves at what seems like a present sitting on your desk. curiously, you approach, and they part to let you see the mysterious gift.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
diluc
all of your classmates have been wondering about the big wrapped gift on your desk. your friends were anxiously waiting for you, waiting for you to finally get to the classroom and open that giant gift.
you were immediately dragged into the room and to your desk once they saw your head peeking out from the staircase, and when you finally opened the gift, everyone gasped.
it's a basket full of your favorite food, the really expensive kind. those pricey chocolates you'd only get as gifts from wealthier relatives? imported snacks from various countries? there’s several of those in the basket. some of them are even unfamiliar to you, which makes it all the more exciting.
you can tell that whoever this mystery person is, they took great care in ensuring the snacks they give you are ones you really liked, or at least for the unfamiliar ones, they thought hard to think if the snack would be up to your taste.
you can also tell that this person wanted to provide you with only high-quality items. the packaging does not have any sort of damage, each of them carefully arranged to look appealing and to avoid damage in transit.
there is no sender or any sort of indicator as to who this mysterious person is. they're careful to cover their tracks, as the card that comes with it is a simple printed graphic for valentines. included are well wishes of, i hope you enjoy my simple present. have a wonderful day., as well as your name at the end, still printed at the back. no handwriting to be seen.
despite you not knowing who this stranger is, part of you is sure that this person’s intentions are truly genuine, to only share what they could with you—despite it being more than you’ve ever been given by anyone—it was not a show of wealth as some of your friends have suggested. after all, if it was, why is their name not plastered all over the gift?
your friends bounce off students they know of in school that may fit the bill of a mysterious rich admirer, to which you mostly tune out once they became annoying, focusing instead on the yummy snacks this person sent you. you're curious as to who this is of course, but with how many students there are in this school, it's going to be like finding a needle in a haystack.
still, you hope that one day they find the courage to reveal themselves to you. it's only right that you give your personal thanks, and perhaps, a little something of your own to gift to them, too.
(you and your friends fail to notice the red haired man sitting at a table farther away from yours, discreetly peeking towards your seats to see you munch on your treats. he smiles to himself seeing you so obviously delighted by the tasty treats, and his mind starts to plan for yet another basket of treats…or perhaps, this time, he can give you trinkets that remind him of you now, too?)
Tumblr media
venti
your eyes look down to your desk to find a small but quaint gift box. it’s a cardboard gift box that's dyed in your favorite colors, and has a rather elaborate design all over it. it’s secured together by a ribbon, tied into a rather complicated and intricate bow, a small tag on it with the valentines greeting, your name, and nothing else.
whoever this person is, they’ve got an eye for style and aesthetics, and clearly paid attention to the kinds of designs you liked.
you delicately untie the bow, almost a little sad to ruin their work. you take off the lid of the box to see…
…a mixtape?
well, no, not literally of course. nobody owns a functioning cassette player anymore these days. but this person seems to be rather old-fashioned still, to gift you with two cds, along with what seems to be a worn notebook?
you shift your focus to the two cds, setting down the notebook for now.
you observe the cd cases, the doodles and hand drawn typography on it immediately catching your attention. it seemed to have been drawn on with permanent markers, in a variety of colors too. the cds are also written on with what each cd contains.
each case also comes with a little handwritten letter inserted in the inner part of the case. you find that there’s no name written on those letters either, just some sweet notes (perhaps the sweetest you’ve ever gotten in your life! quite the poet this one is…), and a tracklist scribbled in for you.
you safely tuck away the cds into the box when your professor walks in, the rest of the class rushing to settle down into their seats, and you try not to let your curiosity take over your mind as you turn your focus onto your professor.
you were, in fact, unable to keep your curiosity at bay.
and neither could your friends, as they crowd around you and your ancient laptop at your usual spot outside your building. they urge you to insert the first cd into your disk drive, and you mumble to yourself about how thankful you are to yourself for keeping around the same laptop you got when you were sixteen—or rather, for being too broke to afford an upgrade.
a folder pops up when your pc processes the contents of the cd, and a list of mp3 tracks pop up, matching the tracklist written on the note in the case.
the first cd is a collection of songs that remind this person of you. it turns out to be quite a lengthy playlist, the first couple of tracks make you think that it's just some kind of prank with how generalized the songs are, but the more you listen to them, the more you find yourself in them, lyrics that apply to you and melodies exactly the way you like them.
your friends giggle and nudge you as they listen too, singing along to ones they are familiar with.
(“hey, is this admirer of yours too broke for spotify premium? is that why they went with a cd—hey!” “c’mon it’s sweet someone did that for them! you’re just jealous your girlfriend won’t do that for you!”)
the second cd is a bit more special, as it's an album of songs this person has personally written for you, and about you. you find it a bit hard to believe that a stranger can make this many songs about you—especially when you're sure you don't have the slightest clue as to who they are. however, you're once again proven wrong when you listen to the songs. each one blows you away with how beautiful the melodies are, and the lyrics touch you so much, you can hardly believe someone even thinks of you as such.
(this of course, causes your friends to tease you even more… you’re rather flustered by both the thoughtful songs and your friends’ jokes.)
you all part ways soon after, and you only get the chance to take a peek at the notebook that comes with the cds when you get back home. you observe the worn notebook and skim through it, feeling the paper creases and indentions from the writing on each page. you quickly note that this notebook is actually your secret admirer’s thoughts and insights, both for their playlist of you and the album they wrote for you.
each track has commentary. they truly have a way with words, and you already feel so connected with this person by the stories they share about their song choices and their song writing. you smile and laugh at most of them, and even manage to tear up at some of the behind the scenes of the songs they’ve written for you. this mystery person is able to drag out such emotions from you despite the fact that you’ve never met… and now you’re certain you’ve fallen for them. or at least, you’re definitely much more intrigued by them now; you want to know more about them.
so you spend the next weeks listening to both cds over and over again. no, i’m not obsessed, you tell your friends when they notice. i’m simply enjoying the thoughtful gift this mystery person put together for me. they have good taste in music.
you import all the songs into your phone to listen to them wherever you go, and on days you do bring your laptop, you still listen with the cds in the drive, as if it makes any difference. you constantly checking the cd’s folder like a new file will just pop up, perhaps a notepad file of more details about them…?
you feel sillier the longer this goes on. you really hope this isn’t just some ridiculously elaborate prank. the sheer audacity of this person to just drop you the most thoughtful gift, writing such wonderful stories and melodies and omit their name, aka the most important detail of all?!
you're going to find this person and give back everything they've done for you, if it's the last thing you do!
but for now…
perhaps you'll relax again and listen to that one song from their album. it's the perfectly calming track for a quick lil nap in between classes...
(you fail to notice a head peeking behind a tree a little bit away from the one you lean against. eyes full of mirth and mischief, he giggles and coos to himself seeing you nap to one of the songs he's prepared just for you. with one last look at your peaceful sleeping face, he smiles and saunters away, slipping away before you can wake and notice him there. he's eagerly awaiting the day you'll find him, but for now, he enjoys sneaking around you and watching you pine for him.)
Tumblr media
happy valentine's everyone! hope you enjoyed diluc and venti's gifts for you <3 if you'd like to give me a present too, perhaps a reblog would be nice? 👈

Idk why this whole diluc vs kaeya argument is even happening like it's so dumb because there is objectively a correct opinion to have in this debate. I literally like diluc, he's genuinely one of my favorite characters in the game, and honestly that's part of why it's so fucking annoying to me when people downplay the fight or act like he was justified in attacking his visionless younger brother with pretty clear killing intent because he very much was not justified and it's not treated that way by the game itself either AND. If you approach kaeya's character in good faith the whole situation is really heart wrenching and so is his reaction to the whole crepus delusion thing but obviously none of these people ever do that because they're dumb as fuck and only take whatever is said about kaeya at face value or read him as more malevolent and ~shady~ than he actually is even though that's literally not how he's written & then when it comes to diluc they will entirely make shit up about his character that is nowhere to be seen in his actual characterization to make him nicer and more meek than he actually is . I need to stop bitching about this recreationally because I'm getting so mad I'm getting dizzy but you get the gist. It's just all around very clear when people will afford a character the benefit of the doubt when they react like an insane person to strong emotions vs when they will interpret someone's reaction to grief in the most cruel possible way literally entirely because they either consciously or subconsciously consider kaeya's grief at the loss of their father "less real" on account of him being adopted even though one fact that genshin keeps hammering into our brains at literally every chance they get is that family bonds don't depend on blood ties alone.

[chiluc angel au]
lore drop! diluc always wears a translucent veil to cover their face, and bc of magic, it can't be blown upwards by the wind to reveal how they look. it can, however, be blown against them so ajax can see the contours of their features. all this does is make him more curious though.

[Image description: A three page traditional comic of a scene from my Chiluc Angel AU.
On the first page, Ajax washes dishes at the kitchen sink while Diluc sits on the couch behind him, reading a book. "You're always wearing your veil, even at home," says Ajax. "Why won't you show me your face, Master Angel?"
"Mortals cannot comprehend my appearance," replies Diluc.
A tiny Ajax face at the bottom of the page laughs a "haha" with furrowed brows.
On the second page, Ajax says, "Okay, so you're self-confident. But still, not even a little peek?"
"No, what I meant was-" Diluc starts.
On the third page, Diluc finishes his sentence with, "you would literally be blinded."
A serious air and gloom hang over the scene.
Ajax is silent for a moment, and then responds, "You know what? Nevermind then."
"A wise choice," says Diluc.]

character x gn reader | anthology
collab event, I’m Falling for You by @teyvattales ::  watching the leaves fall
Tumblr media
diluc
This was your favorite time of year. The rich colors of the leaves, the slight chill on the breeze, the way the world seemed to slow down and take it all in. Pumpkins, steaming drinks, spooky nights, and friendly company. Out of all the seasons, this was the best one, and you were determined to get that across to the man at your side.
“Hello there,” you grinned, rushing to his side to grab onto his arm. Wrapping your hands around his forearm, you gave him a little tug knowing it would alert him to your presence - and make him look at you.
“Hello,” Diluc replied as he glanced your way, eyes no longer focused on the dense trees that passed by as the two of you walked. “Did you find what you were looking for?”
You nodded, lifting the yellow flowers in your hand so he could see. “Yep!” Diluc opened the foraging bag resting against his hip and carefully placed the flowers inside. Glass clinked and rattled as he adjusted the contents to ensure they wouldn’t be damaged. You bit your lip, concerned they’d smashed before you had a chance to use them. Perhaps you should get more, just in case.
Something tugged at your hair but when you turned to see what, you were blocked by red leather and a focused expression. Diluc placed one of the yellow flowers over your ear, his gaze never wavering even though yours constantly did. When he was finished, he brushed your cheek with his finger and smiled at his work. In an instant, his eyes connected with yours, “Shall we?” You reached for his hand before he could pull away and placed a quick kiss to his gloved finger.
“Let’s!” you stepped forward, trying your best to hide your stupefied glee against your opposite shoulder.
The two of you walked for a time, side by side, in the quiet of the colorful forest until you happened upon a few of the cottages on the edge of the winery grounds. To your excitement, you noticed the people who lived there had made several piles of leaves. You stopped, contemplating an idea that was running like a wild child in your head.
“y/n?” Diluc stopped a few paces in front of you. His brows furrowed as they tracked your line of sight. You were distracted by the beautiful falling leaves, the fluffy pile in the distance, and the pounding of your heart. So, you didn’t notice him make his way back to you.
When was the last time you jumped in a pile of leaves? It had to have been when you were a teenager; when your life was less proper and you could splurge on the spontaneous desires of your playfulness. You felt your body lurch forward in a microsecond only for your mind to scold you for even trying.
You’ll ruin your clothes. It’ll put you behind schedule. People won’t take you seriously. Think, y/n.
Sighing, you turned back to Diluc and flashed him a wistful smile, “Sorry, I was lost in thought. We should get back.” You continued toward the winery a bit sad that you could no longer be as carefree as you once was, but you understood your position, and the need to grow up. Strangely, you noticed Diluc wasn’t behind you so you twisted your neck to call out to him when you were lifted into the air like a cat minding their own business. “AH! What ar--!?”
You shouted, laughter spilling through as strong hands hoisted you into the air and toward the pile of leaves. You were practically launched into them and the freedom of gliding through the cool autumn air mixed with the sudden sound of crunching, breaking, and collapsing leaves filled you with a joy you remembered so fondly. Laughing the way you did made it hard for you to escape the pile of leaves but when you finally managed, you burst from them.
“Diluc! What was th-” Your laughter turned to shock when you saw him jumping in after you. Instinctually, you put your arms up so he wouldn’t crush you upon landing, but it didn't matter much. He narrowly missed you only to force you to roll into him at the same time. Gasping, you popped back up, twisting to rest your hands on his chest and push the falling leaves away from his face. “What in the-?” you couldn’t stop laughing, even when you found him puffing away the shattered leaves from his lips or blinking at the dust, you couldn’t stop laughing.
Resting your head on his chest, you breathed in his scent as it mixed with the earthy scent of the leaves. The image of him leaping toward you lived in your mind. You replayed it over and over becoming more smitten each time. Considering how stern and reserved he was, there were moments you could see the child screaming in him to be free, but to see it come out swinging was ... unbelievable.
You raised your head, hands still cupping his forehead as you pushed the leaves away from him. The sun shined across the colorful leaves haloing his face, got lost in his hair. At this angle, it looked like a glowing crown. Laughing again, you smiled with so much joy even the fingers he grazed across your cheek couldn’t calm them down. “Mr. Ragnvindr, I never would have expected you to be one to play in the leaves.”
“It would appear I’ve forgotten why I stopped. I think there are several in places I’d rather they not be.” He furrowed his brows, shifting his hips under you only to cause more leaves to fall around the both of you.
“Admit it, you had fun for a split second.”
His expression softened, his gaze lingering on you for a moment before he reached up to pull several leaves from your hair. “I did.” You grinned and lifted yourself off him so he could sit up.
“Also, I can’t believe you threw me. How ru-” Your words were cut off the moment you looked at him. Your stomach flipped, heart pounded in your chest, butterflies scrambling wildly the moment your eyes settled on the small box he held in his hands. “... D-Diluc?”
“I don’t want to wait any longer.”
“ah-”
“Will you marry me?” Diluc opened the small box to reveal a ring you swore had your name written on it. It was perfect, exactly what you wanted with all of Diluc’s incredible consideration. Surprisingly, even though you knew how to answer him, it was hard to vocalize it with all the thoughts running in your head, all the emotions welling up in your chest, all the ‘absolutes’ and ‘without-a-doubts’ scrambling to burst through you. He waited, or tried to. With a small, nervous chuckle, he asked again, “y/n, will you marry-”
“Yes!” You shouted and lunged to kiss him. The sound of his relieved sigh was the first thing to make your tears fall, the second was the sigh of the ring on your finger, and the third was his closed eyes and glorious smile as you rested your forehead against him.
You pressed forward and he fell back into the leaves. Two soul mates once drifting in the flow of the universe finally finding their way together: to become one.
“I love you,” you whispered under the canopy of leaves.
“And I you,” he replied as he sealed his words with another kiss.

There was something magical about the falling leaves. Something otherworldly, mysterious, and strange but, without a doubt, one of the most incredible things about the changing seasons.
You had this tradition. You weren’t sure when you started it, but it was one of your favorites. As soon as the verdant green leaves began to transition into reds, yellows, and oranges, you knew it was time. Every morning you’d wake up and check if today was the day; not to cold, not to hot, just perfect, and when it finally appeared, you made your move.
A blanket to lay on the crunching leaves, a container to hold snacks, a glass bottle for your favorite drink, and, lastly, whatever book you’d been saving for this special occasion. You’d pack it all in your basket or bag and head out to the small grove just beyond the noise of the village. People who knew you well knew when it was the right fall day; from the pep in your step to the smile on you face, you were as easy to read as the cover of your latest book.
It took you no time at all to set up and, soon enough, you were turning page after page while the burning trees above you decorated the ground in their color.
“Haha, I thought I’d find you here.” A familiar voice called to you, pulling you from the adventures in your book. You knew who it was in an instant; there was no fooling your heart.
“To what do I owe the pleasure, Thoma?” you waved to him as he climbed the hillside, in his hands was a small basket that curiously caught your attention.
“I hope you don’t mind the intrusion, --”
“Do you want to join me!?” your heart flipped at the idea. When he said yes, you excitedly made room for him on your small blanket. “Here,” you gestured to the open spot and he quickly made himself at home.
You watched as he removed the items in his basket, nearly shouted when he offered you a warm cup of melted chocolate and milk. You typically kept this tradition to yourself, but you’d share anything with Thoma.
“Mmm, this is so good,” you hummed after another slow sip of the drink. It warmed your stomach and left a sweet tingle on your tongue.
“I also brought you some-”
“AH!” When you saw pile of smashed potatoes covered in seasoning and cheese, you nearly fainted.
“Hey now, don’t hurt yourself,” Thoma reached for the cup before you could burn yourself and laughed at the way your eyes lit up.
“Yummy,” you coed, hand covering your mouth as you ate the delicious snack. There was something about the fall and warm, salted potatoes that made you practically dance in excitement.
For a while, the two of you talked about the book you were reading, about how things had been for both of your busy schedules, and anything else that came up. You ate, drank, and enjoyed each others company under the falling leaves.
You liked Thoma so much that it hurt your stomach to be near him, but somehow it was far more painful to be separated. If only your friend felt the same way.
“Ah, this was such a fun day,” you exclaimed as you fell back on the cleared away blanket. With no more food or drinks, you made room so you could lay on your back and look up at the circle of branches above you. “I’m glad you could join me.”
“Me too,” Thoma replied as he put a few more items away in his basket. Truthfully, you wanted him to stay but he had things to do and you were too afraid to ask him anyway.
For a moment, you closed your eyes and listened to the sound of the leaves rustling in the wind, the distant conversations in the village below, the crashing of waves far below you. You always forgot how lovely nature was until you were smack dab in the middle of it.
Suddenly, the left side of your body grew warm and when you looked to see why, you saw Thoma, arm resting under his head and face gazing upward, next to you.
Your heart skipped a beat. He was everything to you, everything you wanted in a partner, in a friend. How could someone as perfect as him exist so close to you. Thoma turned to look at you and you sharply looked away.
“This is my favorite time of the year,” he said, eyes glancing back at the falling leaves.
“... mine too,” you replied, hopeful your voice wasn’t betrayed by your overactive emotions.
Something bumped against the back of your hand. Deep down you knew what it was so you willed yourself not to pull away. Another bump, but this time it didn’t bounce away. It stayed, flush against your trembling hand until fingers curled over the side and rested in your palm. You looked at Thoma, whose cheeks held a shade of pink you didn’t normally see. Quickly, you flashed your eyes down to your hand and that’s when you noticed he was holding it.
“I-is this okay?” he asked, a bit more nervous than you normally saw him.
You stifled a giggle as you timidly accepted his hand, “Mmhm,” you replied and, as the radiant leaves fell all around you, the two of you moved a little bit closer, at the same time.

zhongli
The cool air made you wrap your jacket further around your body while you looked out over the harbor. The wind ruffled your hair but not so much to make it annoying. Luckily, you were comfortable enough to stay where you were, warm blankets, delicious smelling food, and freshly brewed tea were all on their way, you just had to be patient. Oh, and there was one other thing that made the chill bearable.
“Do you require another blanket?” Zhongli asked, pulling you more against him on the daybed. His arm rested over your shoulder, his body slightly twisted to be flush with your own as he leaned against a plethora of plush pillows to keep his position just right. You noticed him pulling at the bright, almost golden blanket further up your legs while his were left exposed.
Leaning your head against his shoulder, you watched a single leaf fall and let out a contented sigh, “Nope, this is perfect.” Snuggling into him, you felt his chest rumble as he chuckled, it made you do the same. “So, how did you manage to get a private room in one of the most esteemed restaurants in Liyue harbor, hmm?”
“The proprietor has accrued many ‘IOU’s in their dealings with the Wangsheng Funereal Parlor. I merely discussed an adequate trade to settle the debts.” Zhongli’s fingers passed over your arm, sending a shiver down your spine. He paused to take a sip of his slowly cooling tea before returning to his menstruations.
You nodded as if you understood, and then a dark thought came to your mind, “... Zhongli.”
“Mmm?”
“D-Does that mean ... they’ve had a lot of ... deaths recently or ... does that mean that they’ve made a lot of ... oh,” fidgeting, you turned to look back at the door that separated you from a potential murder.
Zhongli let out a hearty laugh, one you swore rattled the ground of the harbor. “What an imaginative thought. Rest assured there is nothing sinister afoot here. We merely came to an arrangement to settle their contract for the upcoming year.”
“Oh ...”
Zhongli continued, “As per the agreement between the vendors of the harbor and the parlor, the bereaved are allowed to choose what dishes will be prepared for the departed. It often happened that this establishment was, ‘busy,’ when they were requested and, so to ensure equal partnership, an updated contract was in order.”
“So, what is this?” you inquired as you watched several plates of food be delivered to the elegant and expensive table just out of reach. Carefully, you whispered to Zhongli so the staff couldn’t here, your nose brushing against his neck as you did so, “a bribe?”
“On the contrary, it was explicitly outlined in the contract. Through a bit extraordinary, they came to see reason in time.” Zhongli helped lift you off the bed, pulling another blanket around your shoulders as he moved toward the food so he could prepare you a plate.
“Mr. Zhongli, it appears you are far more devious than others suspect,” you teased, crossing your legs and accepting the dish he offered.
“Devious,” he repeated with a low hum and you shifted on the elegant cushions. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw his hand settle next to your hips. When you followed the path of his arm, you were met with rich, golden eyes staring intently at you. “Perhaps I am, devious,” he breathed and your heartrate increased, “Or, am I simply a man who knows what he wants.”
Zhongli leaned toward you, head tilted, eyes narrowing into slits but never once looking away from your own. “... and what do you want?” you asked, arms growing too weak to hold the plate anymore.
“Mmm, shall we discuss that?” You nodded, but it was so quick and short that, if he hadn’t been inches from your face, he wouldn’t have noticed at all.
Beyond the red railing and the drifting, yellow lanterns, the two of you shared a private evening under the decorative autumn leaves.

@thundertide asked:
❤️ - How did your muse come to realize their romantic and sexual orientations? Was it difficult to accept? Are they proud of who they are?
Tumblr media
✧˖° — KAEYA figured a lot of things out pretty early in his teens, because he started having undeniable feelings for several people he knew regardless of their genders. It was pretty much a non-issue for him at that point, because his adoptive family were unfazed by his crushes as a whole... although they did love to tease him!
Things got complicated later, when Kaeya started masking all of his real feelings behind an easygoing facade. He became more of a thrill-seeker, too, chasing anything that gave him good feelings at all.
Which is to say: he's proud of who he is, yes, and has no feelings of shame directly attached to his sexuality. But he's not proud of some of the things he's done in the past, especially during the years Diluc was gone, when he leaned heavily into some really unhealthy methods to cope with his depression.
Only very recently, thanks to Albedo's patience with him, Kaeya has finally started to untangle his complicated feelings.
Tumblr media
˖°✩ — DILUC thought he figured things out early, too. As a teenager he had fleeting thoughts and feelings about a lot of different people, and it didn't really phase him much. He thought it was normal for these things to stick around for a little while and then fade away.
Then Lia breezed into his life and changed everything.
His crush on her was stronger than the others, strong enough that he became convinced it was 'true love' and she was 'the one.' (Both very romantic concepts he'd adored since he was a kid... especially since Crepus also swore his 'one and only love' had been Diluc's mother.)
But in the rush of things that happened after his father's death, which included spending a night with Lia, Diluc found himself questioning all his feelings again because he just felt... numb, in general.
Maybe she wasn't different after all?
In the years since, he has accepted the fact that he's ace, but he still finds himself struggling with the ghosts of his past expectations for his own future, that 'happily ever after' he once wanted... which he's convinced himself he will never get to experience.
💘 - What is your muse like when they're in love? What does your muse find attractive in someone else? What are their love languages? How do they show affection? Do they show any distinct signs that they're in love?
Tumblr media
✧˖° — KAEYA finds a lot of traits attractive, but is usually drawn to the people that can hold their own in a fight and/or are exceptionally bright and clever. He wants to be around people that keep him on his toes, you know?
He's a caring person who pays attention to small details in general, so when he's trying to show his affection he goes above-and-beyond to get the other person's attention as well — whether that's by spending extra time with them or getting them an especially personal gift.
But when he suspects he's in love, Kaeya actually withdraws so he can assess the whole situation. He doesn't want to rush into that kind of thing for a LOT of reasons.
Attraction is easy for him! Love... is a lot more complicated.
Tumblr media
˖°✩ — DILUC is a doting partner and can be a little overprotective, which is actually a big reason he's drawn to people that can take care of themselves. He finds strength very attractive, in a general sense.
His primary love languages are acts of service and quality time. With how busy he is, if he actually takes time out of his schedule to spend extra time with someone, or doing something for them... they must be pretty special, right?
So, when he's in love with someone... Diluc would start spacing out his night patrols and business appointments so he could dedicate more of his time to that person.
(Also, despite usually having a cool and collected vibe, he's actually quite easily flustered when he has a crush! So that could be another big clue that someone is important to him, haha!)
😖 - Does your muse have any embarrassing moments that they still think about? Do they laugh at them, or do they haunt them?
✧˖° — KAEYA has a bunch of embarrassing moments he still thinks about, yeah. Some he can laugh at, others make him cringe, and still others... he seriously regrets, because he caused others pain as well.
(Adelinde and the other Winery staff have several stories to tell, as do Jean, Diluc, Albedo, and Rosaria!)
˖°✩ — DILUC definitely has a few embarrassing memories that still haunt him, but he can laugh about some of them, too. Unfortunately, a lot of his childhood memories tend to be tinged with sadness, so they put him into a melancholy mood — even the ones that should just be silly and embarrassing.
Perhaps time will change that, especially since he's going to have a new person to share old memories with soon...
🍡 - Can your muse cook? Can they bake? How well can they do either? Do they have any kitchen disaster stories?
✧˖° — KAEYA is decent at open-fire cooking and can make a good, nutritious stew as well as his 'specialty' skewers. His father taught him that old trick: letting stuff sit in alcohol for a little before frying it kills a lot of bacteria, which can help prevent food poisoning on the road... while also giving the food a little extra flavor.
Baking, on the other hand... he can manage simple dishes, but he'd much rather eat something prepared by a true chef. (Which is to say: he eats out a lot.)
˖°✩ — DILUC can actually cook really well! He's not on the same level as a professional chef or Adelinde, but he did enjoy spending time in the kitchen as a child and learned to cook, bake, and mix all kinds of drinks! He has a good understanding of various flavors and what stuff will taste good when paired together.
Of course, he does have a few 'disaster' stories, too. His weak point is that he's rather impatient in general, so he tends to rush things and take shortcuts, like using more heat to cook faster. So he has burnt food on multiple occasions, and even caused small fires a few times.
However, he has learned to compensate for his shortcomings so it's almost a non-issue these days. (Almost.)

Hi! For the Unusual Fic-Specific Asks for Authors, I'd like to ask two things about Broken Ground! First, perspective flip: I think you mentioned Lisa being more present at first and then cut out of the scene, so I'd like to know more about that :> How was it from her point of view? And also, time after time: when the group arrived back to Mondstadt after the ordeal, how did Lisa react?
Thank you for the ask! :>
I'm not entirely sure if you wanted Lisa's perspective on the scene that happened, or the one I cut, but I do love the one I cut even if it didn't serve the story, so I'm going to pull it out and POV-flip it up to the point when I realized I had to back up and do something different. >>
Lisa is still standing on the top of the Ordo steps when Barbara and Master Diluc come into view. Barbara she'd expected; Diluc she hadn't, not quite yet. She'd thought she would have to send Huffman, whom Kaeya has assured her is quite reliable when there's information he wants to distribute, to the Angel's Share to ostensibly roust out any off-duty knights who'd taken up drinking there. At which point Diluc would take off on his own initiative, with no idea of his course or what he might intend. This works out much better. "Lisa!" Barbara calls, rushing up the steps. "What happened? That cloud is from where my- where Master Jean went, isn't it?" "It does seem to be," Lisa says, patting Barbara gently on the shoulder. "We don't know for sure what's happened there just yet, but I'm trying to find out." "I take it this wasn't part of the plan." "Not at all," she tells Diluc. "This was only supposed to be a scouting mission. They must have found something very interesting indeed." She keeps her tone confident and unconcerned for Barbara's sake, hiding her own tension. The thought of Jean and Kaeya out there facing something that could have caused such tremendous chaos alone--or worse, having failed to face it, and lying injured somewhere--makes her chest ache with worry. A part of her wishes that she'd been there, though she knows there may not have been anything she could do. The best thing that she can do for them now, Lisa reminds herself, is to stay calm and in control and coordinate the emergency response. It's where her talents most lie. "Have you sent anyone to find out?" "Not yet. If it's something Jean and Kaeya can handle themselves, there's no rush, and if it's something that they can't, then there's no point in sending anything less than another captain to help them out. Noelle's gone up to Dragonspine to collect Captain Albedo, and I'm sure he'll set out as soon as she finds him." She's supposed to keep an eye out for Amber on her way, too; some advance scouting wouldn't go amiss in this situation. But she doesn't want to make Barbara any promises that she can't keep, and collecting Albedo is the higher priority. Amber is impressive for her age, but not nearly as strong, and incapable of dealing with the kind of earthquake or landslide that the evidence implies. "But...." Barbara blinks furiously, clearly fighting back tears, and shakes her head. She knows just as well as Lisa that Lisa is making the right choice for the situation, but Lisa can't blame her for her resistance. Behind her, Diluc is frowning. Lisa can see the wheels turning already, but a little nudge doesn't hurt. She deliberately gives him an arch smile. "You know, Master Diluc, I'm sure a former knight-captain would be just as capable as any of our current captains in an emergency."
...Which isn't the end of that conversation, but is the point where I realized I had to cut it, because I hit that line and realized that I wanted Diluc to have the agency of making that decision himself, but also (as I was writing it from his POV), he was coming to it too slowly to beat Lisa to the punch, because this would have been offering assistance directly to the Knights. So I cut out both problems by having Noelle summarize the situation, and making it a direct and immediate response to Barbara's desire to go herself.
As for Lisa's reaction when she returned, a combination of concern (because of the state they were both in--it didn't make it in, but I actually had it that Kaeya couldn't even take over for her for a couple of days because the Ordo has a policy re: concussions) and relief, because her friends were alive! She had to do the actual work of running the Ordo, and while both of its other top two members were out of commission to boot, so despite what she'd like to do (which was spoil them XD as well as Barbara and Noelle, who were both pretty bad off themselves after all that healing) she had to focus on doing three jobs solo for a while, which was probably even harder once news got about that Jean and Kaeya were both out of commission.
But once Kaeya recovered enough to take over, she unceremoniously took three day's leave and spent it sitting in the Cathedral infirmary drinking tea with Jean and Barbara (and keeping Noelle from working too hard by keeping her busy fetching and making tea for them), reassuring herself that everyone was all right! And sitting on the sisters just a little while she was at it. :3c

I saw something or other a while back talking about how ENG Diluc's fatal injury lines were all breathy and sad and regretful, whereas Kaeya sounds angry and almost hisses on some of them, and... yeah! He does!

Babygirl. its okay. you can drop the mask for a moment. its alright i promise. i know you need to be Strong and Cool because that's the person you show to everyone else at absolutely all times and you're deathly afraid of not being in control of the situation but oh my god. how do you live like this all the time
