Hmm... *thinking out loud* what if Dia was some sort of priestess or temple maiden when she met Theseus and that's why she was still unwed at that point in time...

Hi I have concept questions rate the yandere Greek gods, and who is most likely out of them with sexually assault or rape reader any gender I don’t know it came in my mind after I found out that Ares has never raped a women or man in my opinion that is a really shocking thing coming from the god of war I mean when comes to gods it’s a pretty good standard because I have read about so many sexual assaults in Greek mythology. for example obviously, Zeus is most likely going to force himself on reader he has done it many times and then the other one is Poseidon he did it with medusa if I remember correctly, so he is most likely to do it, and he has done it with other people and then Eros I don’t know why I just think he would do it and Apollo would do it and I actually thought Ares would would also sexually assault reader, but after finding out that he never did with anyone I don’t he would force himself on reader since he has never done it in Cannon fun fact, one of the sons of Poseidon raped his daughter and when Ares found out, he was furious and killed Poseidon son. Hades, this is another god I think he would not force himself on reader. But I’m not sure about Dionysus maybe he would and Hephaestus is another god who would force himself because he did it with Athena if I remember correctly. Aphrodite, maybe you would do it too. Hermes is another god I think he would do it too. What do you think can you Frank them from? Who is most likely to do it to who is least likely to do it and never do it at all.
tw: talk about rape/sexual harassment.
I would say the same ones you mentioned above.
Zeus and this one doesn't even need explanations. Poseidon, depending on the version, is said to have raped Medusa, but this is the Roman version and not the Greek, so it depends on which myth you prefer, but I think he would be able to force himself on the Reader.
Apollo would do it if he was rejected by his beloved, and he wouldn't even think he was doing anything wrong. Eros would also force himself on his darling if he was rejected in a very cruel way, then he would force them to be his.
Although there are no records of Ares forcing himself on anyone, as we are doing a headcanon and I don't work with canon but with the voices in my head, I would say that he could force himself on the Reader. And he wouldn't even need much for that, it can easily be motivated by jealousy, pure lust or just because he wants to mark the Reader as his.
Hephaestus... It's complicated, the reason he tried to abuse Athena is because of Poseidon, in a way. Poseidon became jealous of the closeness of Athena and Hephaestus and incited the god of forging to make unwanted advances on the goddess of wisdom, thinking that she liked him. He never actually raped her, it was more like harassment, but he came on her thighs and a child was born from that. Bizarre? Yes. Would he abuse his S/O? Look, it depends. I think that if Hephaestus was really consumed by obsession, by jealousy, he could force himself on his darling.
Hades would never force himself sexually on his darling. He can kidnap them (and he will), he can lock them up but he will never do anything against their will, sexually speaking. He doesn't want to be like his brothers and loathes it, so he would never touch the Reader without their consent.
Dionysus would do it too. He is delusional enough and the reason he would abuse his darling could be motivated by how delusional he is. The god would be so delusional that he wouldn't even realize that the Reader doesn't want to sleep with them.
Hermes would only do so if he wanted to dismantle power over his S/O. Like, he did that to them because he can, because they are his and that means he can take them wherever he wants and whenever he wants. A form of control and psychological torture, in a way.
I think Aphrodite would be the only one of the goddesses to abuse her darling, but for her, she would not be committing abuse but rather showing how much she loves them. And for her, the goddess of love, also the patron saint of prostitutes, what better way than to have sex with her darling? Even if it's not consensual.

The Evermore Grimoire: Greek Mythology
Calliope (Καλλιοπη meaning "beautiful-voiced") was the Muse of epic poetry and heroic song in Greek mythology. She was widely considered the leader of the Muses and was the greatest and wisest of them all. Calliope began as a Muse of poetry, which later developed into epic poetry (tales of the legendary adventures of a people, its myth, and heroes). She was often represented in art as a seated or standing figure, holding a writing tablet and a stylus, as if she were getting ready to write the next great epic poem. Calliope was also the mother of Orpheus, the most famed musician in all of Greek mythology. He was said to have received his gift of music from his father, Apollo (god of prophecy). When Orpheus was dismembered by the Bacchantes (women & nymphs who worshipped the god of wine, Dionysus), Calliope recovered his head and enshrined it on the island of Lesbos.

Tumblr media
Aegon knows that what he’s doing is wrong. In his mother and father’s opinion, and even his brother’s, it seems he can seldom do anything right. However, this bacchanal is being held in his honor to celebrate a successful harvest, another year of fine wines being distributed through the land due to his blessing. Does he not have a right to partake in the night’s revelry and debauchery?
He wanders through the Kingswood, admiring all the beautiful women dancing around him, all in high spirits. But then? His heady lavender gaze falls on you, the most beautiful nymph of them all. You dance with a passion and vigor for life that your sisters fail to possess, and the sound of your sweet laugh haunts Aegon’s ears. He wonders what other sounds he could elicit from those beautiful lips that smile so sweetly at the other nymphs. He takes a sip from his cup of wine, watching as you dance, the sway of your hips so naturally seductive without meaning to be.
Aegon moves closer to you, drawn to you in a way he cannot begin to explain, until he is right beside you, his hand reaching out to touch your shoulder, gaining your attention. You seem slightly started by the sight of the deity before you, freezing in place.
“My lord,” you say, your voice just as magical as he imagined it would be, “What are you doing here?”
“‘Tis a feast in my honor, is it not?” The low timbre of his voice sends shivers up and down your spine, so deep and yet so soft, though his gaze is anything but gentle, “I saw you dancing from afar and needed to meet you, beautiful creature of the forest.”
He takes a step closer to you and you take one back, shaking your head, “You cannot.”
Aegon takes another step toward you, a smile playing on his lips, “Why can I not come closer to you, sweet nymph?”
“I am a sworn maiden,” you declare, meeting his gaze evenly, “One of Rhaenyra’s sworn virgins.”
“So what? You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. You put all the goddesses in the Keep to shame,” Aegon chuckles softly, leaning in to whisper against your ear, his breath tickling your skin, “You are too beautiful not to be kissed, pretty maiden.”
You scowl at him, “Have you no shame?”
“Shame?” Aegon smirks, hands resting on the curve of your hips, “My dear, I have no desire to feel any shame. All I feel is desire. For you, for your beauty, for your love and adoration,” he follows after you as you wrench yourself away from him, attempting to rejoin the other nymphs, reaching out to gently grab your wrist, “Sweet creature, don’t go. I want you, I want to give myself to you. I need to feel you.”
“I have no desire for what you wish to give,” you respond haughtily, “Now leave before I turn into a tree.”
He gives you a mischievous grin, “Oh, please. You only say this to tease me. You want this,” he traces a finger along the Cupid’s bow of your lip, smirking as you nearly moan at his touch, “See how my fingers make you feel. How every touch of my hand makes you shiver with pleasure.”
Aegon bursts into laughter at the way you promptly transform yourself into a willow tree. He runs a hand down the bark that now covers your body, a wry grin playing on his face. However, you’ve had quite enough of his antics and twist slightly, using one of your branches to smack him away from you, sending him staggering back, surprised and dazed from your assault. Aegon quickly recovers, grinning at you.
“Well played, sweet one. Well played.”
He takes his leave of you, but not before shooting your now inanimate form one last glance.
Tumblr media
Aegon watches you, learning your daily routine. You are a river nymph, he finds out, and you spend much of your time tending to the plants and animals near the banks of the stream that runs through the Kingswood. You bathe there, you drink from there, it is your livelihood, he realizes. One day, he approaches you as you wash yourself, admiring the captivating sight of your nude form, the sunlight filtering through the foliage, shining down on your skin.
“There you are,” he says, leaning against a nearby tree.
You yelp and duck underwater, swimming away from him as quickly as you can. Aegon’s grin widens and he follows you along the riverbank, enjoying your shyness.
“Why are you afraid, sweet one?” Aegon teases, “I dont bite. Unless you want me to.”
“Stay away from me,” you hiss at him, grabbing your silk dress, wrapping it around your form as quickly as you can, “You… You…”
You struggle to articulate just how much you despise him, and he simply gives you that infuriatingly handsome lazy smile, speaking in a playful tone, “Cat got your tongue, my sweet? What am I, hm?”
“A hedonistic spoiled brat!”
Aegon laughs at the insult, utterly amused, “Is that the worst you can do? My own mother has called me worse. Come now, let’s try that again.”
And, as though she heard her name being mentioned, the queen of the gods calls out to her son from somewhere in the Keep, demanding his presence. Aegon grimaces at being disturbed during his attempted courtship of you, but realizes he must go. He takes one last lingering look at you as you stand by the stream before walking back toward the castle, an idea forming in his mind about how to get you to break your vow of chastity.
Tumblr media
One day, he lays in wait. It’s a hot day, one of the hottest of the summer by far. And he knows that by the time you reach the stream, you will be downright desperate to quench your thirst. He watches you approach and lay down beside the stream, on the verge of exhaustion, getting ready to scoop some water in your hands to drink. He gazes at you, remaining just out of sight, before slowly moving his hand, the stream’s water turning to wine, though clear in color, so you do not notice anything is amiss at first. He watches as you continue to drink, one handful after the other, repeatedly, a smile spreading across his face as you grow more and more intoxicated. You move to lay down beside the stream, your vision growing blurry.
Aegon creeps up to you, watching your lips part as you begin to fall asleep, lustful intent in his eyes as he stands above your sleeping form. He leans down and lifts you into his arms, carrying you off to the Red Keep, determined to finally make you his.
When you wake, it is in a strange and unfamiliar room, inside the castle you believe. You have only ever come here when paying homage to your patron goddess, Rhaenyra, you’ve never been inside the chambers of one of the divine. You are used to sleeping on the forest floor with your fellow nymphs, and the bed you sleep in feels as though you are laying on a cloud. You sit up, confused, looking around.
“Lady Rhaenyra?” you call out, wondering if she has brought you here for some reason.
Aegon emerges from the shadows, speaking softly to you, his eyes moving over your body, “Not Lady Rhaenyra,” he says, caressing your cheek after approaching you, “No, my beautiful nymph. It is I, and you are all mine to love and to cherish.”
You panic and immediately try to escape, knowing what his intentions for you must be. Aegon grabs you before you can, manhandling you down onto the bed, holding you close to him.
“Please, sweet creature,” he breathes against your neck, pressing a kiss to the tender spot where your neck meets your shoulder, “Do not fight me. I can make you happy. I will make you happy. I only want you, only need you, only lust for you. Let me caress you, let me love you, my precious nymph.”
You struggle in his grip, though it is impossible to deny how incredible his touch feels, how intoxicating his sweet words are, “I am sworn to Lady Rhaenyra to remain a maiden-”
He pulls you closer, his bare chest pressed flush against yours, nipping at your neck, “You know you want this, beautiful girl. You know that you need me to fill the emptiness inside of you…”
Your lips part and you let out a soft moan as his lips ghost along your collarbone, making their way to your breasts, protesting weakly, your resolve weakening with every passing second. You can feel the heat of his body against yours, his breath on your skin, his lilac eyes locked with yours, pupils blown wide with lust.
“Just say yes to me,” he pleads, his voice a desperate whisper as he gazes at you, sliding your dress down to reveal one of your breasts to him, immediately moving to mouth at the newly revealed flesh, garnering a gasp from you, “Say yes.”
“I can’t…”
His hand comes up to squeeze your neglected breast, kneading the soft flesh between his hands, rolling your sensitive nub between his fingers before he pulls away from you with a lewd popping noise, “Yes you can,” he whispers, lips nearly brushing against yours as he rids you of your dress entirely, “Say yes to me. I will make you feel what you’ve only ever dreamt of, sweet one. I will sate every desire you have. I will love you till the end of your days.”
And with that, your resolve shatters completely. You press your lips to his, locked in a passionate kiss. You tug at Aegon’s tunic, prompting him to pull back for a moment and remove it, and in that brief second where your lips are parted from each other’s, you realize you do not wish to part from him ever. He moves to tease your bare cunny with his fingers, smirking at the fact that you’re already wet for him, despite your prior protests. He pumps two thick fingers in and out of you at a slow, steady pace, wanting to prepare you for his cock, watching as your back arches off the bed in pleasure at the feeling of his digits inside of you. He increases his speed, admiring the sight of you spread open, laid bare for him, so pliant and soft in his arms.
He brings you to your peak, watching the way you squeeze tight around his fingers, your eyes fluttering shut as you let out the sweetest moan of his name. He swears it is the most beautiful sound he has ever heard in his entire life. He moves to lay beneath you, pulling you on top of him to straddle his waist. He gives his cock one quick tug, lifting your hips and easing you onto it slowly, watching your face for any sign of discomfort. You wince slightly at first, the intrusion being somewhat jarring, though not particularly painful. He stays still, sheathed inside of you, reveling in the feeling of your warmth. And you surprise him. It is you who begins rolling your hips against his, your hands finding purchase on his shoulders as you begin to move up and down on him, the sight of your breasts bouncing before his eyes in tandem with the rest of your body almost hypnotizing. He moves his hands to your hips again, squeezing the flesh of your ass, helping you increase your pace, letting out a low, throaty moan of your name as he feels you, so warm and wet and tight and perfect around him.
“I’m close, Aegon,” you mewl as he moves one hand to circle your pearl, “Oh gods…”
“Come for me, sweet girl,” he murmurs, “Come for your love.”
And you do, with a cry of his name, his own release following soon after as he spills himself deep inside of you.
He holds you tightly in his arms, running his hand up and down your back, murmuring sweet nothings in your ear, knowing that he has finally found what he has been searching for all this time.
Aegon, the God of Wine and Debauchery, has found love.

Thinking about the Sabine women who were kidnapped...
(This post mentions rape and misogyny.)
So, in Roman mythology, the founder of Rome was a chap called Romulus. Romulus is a pretty weird founder-figure because he's such an asshole:
Killing his brother Remus over a spat about where to locate their town.
Inviting criminals, hooligans and runaway slaves to build the town, because apparently nobody "respectable" (by Roman standards) wanted to follow him.
Nearly getting himself and his followers slaughtered for kidnapping, and perhaps sexually assaulting, a bunch of their neighbors' daughters.
See, no woman wanted to join Romulus and his little band of nobodies in their malaria-infested swamp. So the Romans invited the Sabine tribe over for a festival and just...kidnapped a bunch of their daughters. And then had kids with them. (Whether consensually or not depends on which version you believe.)
Obviously, the Sabines and other tribes were outraged. War broke out, and was only shut down when the kidnapped women ran out between the armies and begged both sides to stop fighting, because they didn't want to lose either their husbands or fathers. And so the Sabines joined their tribe with the Romans.
The Rape of the Sabine Women is a disturbing legend. You could analyze it as a tale of Stockholm Syndrome, of forced assimilation, and of rape apologism. Even the Romans seem to have found it uncomfortable: Livy takes pains to portray the Romans as only resorting to kidnapping out of desperation, and asking the women very nicely to marry them, rather than sexual assault. Cicero and Dionysus of Halicarnassus write similarly.
But no matter how much you try to pretty it up, it still shows the Roman men as selfish, violent, deceitful crooks. Why on earth would the proud patricians trace their lineage back to this?
Other aspects of this story stand out to me:
It portrays women's intervention in politics as a good thing. They're arguably the most heroic characters here.
It asks us empathize with the women's point of view, and with how they feel torn between both sides.
It asks us to listen to rape victims instead of assuming we know what's best for them.
It reminds us of the horrors and losses of war instead of glorifying it.
As daughters, the women are passive, but as wives and mothers, they gain a voice.
Based on how Roman men tried to soften the story, it clearly confronted them with the ugliness of sexual assault.
Remember, this is a legend that Romans told each other, not historical events. Why would the patriarchal Romans preserve a tale that portrays the men so poorly, and asks us to listen to the women? I have a thought.
If you were a Roman girl, you would probably be married off as a teenager, to a man at least 8-10 years older than you. You would probably have very little say in the matter. Perhaps you would see yourself in the Sabine women, carried off by men they hardly knew, forced to submit to sex. Or maybe you'd relate to how they felt torn between their husbands and children versus their birth family, or to their fear of losing their loved ones in war. Maybe, like the women, your voice would grow stronger as an older adult and mother, and one day you would demand to be taken seriously.
Maybe you would tell your sons this story, in hope that they would hear the pleas of the Sabine women. And perhaps you'd tell your daughters, to reassure them that life goes on even after sexual trauma, and that one day their voices will be heard.

The Garden of Innocence
Dionysus x Ariadne | Teen+
Summary: Ariadne goes camping with her questionable boyfriend.
Beautiful artwork here: (x) @hycinthrt
Chapter 3
Theseus was supposed to be a great sailor. He was also supposed to take her directly from Crete to Athens where she would meet his parents. They were going to get married and probably have twelve babies. So far, she was disappointed.
Ariadne was a beautiful princess. She wore flouncy dresses as were popular in Crete and she had once even enjoyed indoor plumbing. Camping wasn’t really for her.
Nevertheless, she was filled with hope. Theseus had found a tree full of delicious figs. He impressed her with a blue-green bonfire of burning driftwood and told her stories of Herakles under the stars. He got most of the details wrong, but she didn’t correct him. She didn’t really care. She was safe against his strong shoulder, a loving arm around her and a warm fire at her feet.
He was so handsome with his runners legs and full, springy hair. He reclined against her, fighting sleep from the long hours talking. Ariadne glowed with pleasure at the casual, confiding touch. She kissed his hair, reached to take his hand. Its shape was graceful, yet hardened and rough from holding a sword. Exactly as a prince’s should be.
“Are you cold?” he asked.
She shook her head, a shy no. “But don’t stop. I feels nice.”
He hugged her closer. His kisses warmed her face like sunlight. She turned in his arms, pressed herself to him.
“No, enough,” he said, “We are not married.”
“We will be,” she breathed, “What about yesterday? By the fig tree—“
“Exactly,” said Theseus, his voice stern, “I … forgot myself. I should treat you more gently. You are yet a maiden.”
“Even if that’s obvious, you needn’t be so stiff. I love you.”
At that moment, the fire popped. He was alert at once, pulling her upwind of brightest blue sparks.
“You weren’t burned, were you?”
“No,” she said softly, resting her forehead against his neck, “I’m tired though. Don’t put any more wood on.”
“Alright.” He smoothed her hair back and kissed her head. “That fire,” he said, “They say that’s the color of nereids’ hair.”
Ariadne laughed, “Then ‘they’ must be ugly sailors.”
“What makes you say that?”
“Well,” she ventured, “If whoever told you that had been handsome enough to have lain with one, he would have known their hair is black or brown. Beautiful, but ordinary colors.”
Theseus did not laugh at her joke. She remembered suddenly that in Athens women were silent in public and heavily veiled if they were rich. She felt conscious of her bright skirts and painted breasts. She willed her face not to color.
“How would you know that, anyway?” he asked.
Ariadne was dumbstruck and then she laughed at him. “What? You don’t know?”
“O-oh,” it falls out in two syllables, “Pasiphaë’s line. Of course.”
It was common knowledge that she was naiad-born through her mother’s side.
“I had only been thinking of Minos’s side.”
“Yes, well it’s not as if we actually hear from Zeus,” she laughed, attempting to dismiss the gravity of the connection.
“Still … he is your grandsire.”
“I suppose. I know more from my mother. My aunt Circe—“
“Circe? The witch?” His voice was so harsh that her eyes stung with tears.
“Oh, I think she’s just a hermit with some funny pets. It’s not like we’ve even met.”
“But she’s your aunt?”
“My mother’s sister. Yes.”
She was grateful that the island was so full of night sounds that it softened the tense silence between them.
“All I was saying,” she said in a small voice, “Is that her hair looks like mine.”
“Your mother told you this?”
“Mmhmm.” She stares vaguely at the flames, knees drawn in.
Theseus strokes her lamb-soft hair. “Then, your aunt must be beautiful.”
She leans into him, and there is a shallow sort of peace between them.
“If you’re tired,” he said, “I’ll watch the fire. Don’t worry.” He offers her a soft smiles and pads his left thigh. It took her a moment to understand that he meant for her to lay her head in his lap.
“Sweet princess,” he murmured. And she fell asleep to his warm fingers stroking the curls from her neck.
To their backs, a forest grows black and heavy with underbrush. It breaths, and the air is luxuriant with summer fruit. And as the stars turn, a flower opens to the far off sound of a girl’s dreaming voice.

*sighs* i like this youtuber, but again he mentions in 11:44 how "refreshing" is the book Electra written by... Jennifer Saint....
Come ooon my dude...Electra was written by Sophokles and also many greek stories have women protagonists, they don't have to be retellings to get to know them!
Also we can't cancel the way ancient Greek people lived back then, sorry back then they didn't have the luxury and technology like today 😅
I'm sorry but at the "i think Jennifer Saint is an expert in explaining mythology" i fucking lost it. This is what happens when someone who does not study nor learn nor is into mythology TALKS about mythology.
"A very accesible way you are introduced to every character as if you have no prior knowledge of the mythology" no, no it's not. Inventing stories is not 'making mythology more accesible'. Bro, just like you said anon, read Elektra by Sophokles and move on.
The whole "Trojan War from the perspective of women" is so dumb at this point. We KNOW how women felt, guys, we don't need any USAnian telling us about it. The reason the Iliad is so focused on men is, because, pretend to be shocked, IT'S A WAR. THEY'RE FIGHTING. And women did not fight, they stayed at the cities doing other work that was just as important. For example, Hektor fought for his city and Andromache took care of their child and family.
Yes, society was sexist. And ? Retellings are just as worse.
Madelline Miller making Circe a SA victim to ""justify"" her actions. Jennifer Saint making Ariadne another victim by demonizing Dionysus. Margaret Atwood demonizing Helen and calling her a whore.
But alas, ALWAYS, Greek mythology. Don't you dare make a retelling of, idk, Chinese mythology, or you'll be disrespectful. But Greek? Yeah, go ahead ! Greece is everyone's draft and playground to write what we want !!
Sigh. I'm sorry. I can't tolerate this people. This youtuber is probably a very nice guy who just likes reading, but giving voice to this type of authors should NOT be a thing.
Like damn, Saint's book is WAY longer than the original Elektra written by Sophokles, and then people use as an excuse that they don't read the classics because they're "too long", lmao.

5 Anti LO Asks
(Note: All of these asks are before episode 206 (Season 2 finale) so some may be dated.) 1. OK but no one is stopping RS from just making a pg-13 safe comic about them hooking up and thats it lmao. most of the romance genre is just that. idk why she bemoans she can't do what she wants when quite literally she can? unless she means she just wants to draw them having sex, in which case why make a comic then when she could have just kept to her NSFW patreon instead of dragging this comic on for another five years.
2. I’m sorry, I just realized bc of the time skip does that mean Dionysus was also just resolved off screen?? Like with Minthe and Daphne and Eros and Psyche?? Maybe Rachel just dropped all of them 😪😭
3. LO has the (hopefully) unintentional vibe of those terminally online cishets who think because more diverse voices also get a say online that theyre now an oppressed class. like rachel youre not the "subversive" progressive ally you think you are when your entire comic is about Manly Men™️, Feminine Women™️, and how the most oppressed people are actually the uber rich cishets in their straight romance with no actual problems and their villains are *checks notes* gays and poor people.
4. I think my fav part about Rachel is she literally does the exact opposite of everything she says. "This comic is against purity culture!" *reinforces purity culture from the very first ep* "Hera likes modest clothing!" *puts Hera in the most garish outfits* "Hades would never go after a teenage girl!" *Hades goes after a teenage girl* I could keep going but i'd be here all day.
5. I want to also add that during that one "tour of the Underworld" scene (the one where they got Pom soda) Persephone literally said (paraphrasing here) she'd kill something if she had to spend anymore time with flower nymphs, so apparently they're her "sisters" and "as close as you could be" yet she says outloud she doesn't want to be around them. Hell she was in the Underworld KNOWING THEY WERE DEAD and didn't once try to see them? Way to treat your "best friends"/"sisters".

Hunter's Innate Archetype
This is the fourth instalment of my Bad Batch analysis. This character analysis has two parts: innate archetypes and anima. I will be referring to “Gods in Everyman” by Jean Shinoda Bolen for this first part analysis.
Tumblr media
Hunter has two main archetypes: Dionysus and Zeus. His innate archetype is Dionysus, or Bacchus as the Romans called him, and he is the God of Wine and Ecstasy. He is the youngest of the Olympians, and the only one with a mortal mother. He represents the full range of emotions – from pain to ecstasy. His domain extends to all nature, especially to its life-giving moisture like the tree sap, blood, grape juice, and all the mysterious and uncontrollable tides that flow and ebb in nature. In his mythology and his rituals, Dionysus is surrounded by women: by mothers and nursemaids of the young Dionysus as the divine child, or by enraptured lovers, the frenzied Maenads or Bacchae, who are possessed by the god Dionysus.
Dionysus represents the archetype of the divine child. This archetype gives a sense of specialness to a person: the personal feeling that “my” life has a sacred meaning. A person who connects with the divine child will often go through a spiritual journey or a path of individuation. Clone Force 99 consists of Hunter, Tech, Wrecker and Crosshair. They are genetically modified and enhanced clones, so they are born as extraordinary people – as “divine children”. Among the four of them, Hunter probably identifies with the divine child archetype the most due to his Dionysus archetype.
Tumblr media
Dionysus is the archetype of the eternal adolescent. Dionysus people are intense and emotional, who can become absorbed in their current passion and lack the ability to commit. They can be very moody – one moment they are in despair, the next moment they are ecstatic. This archetype is personified by the hippies, rock stars and punk rockers. Notable rock stars like Jim Morrison, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Prince and Michael Jackson took on an androgynous appearance (most notably the longish, flowy hair), resembling Dionysus. Hunter does take on this archetype as he has longish dark brown hair, has a smoky tone to his voice according to his voice actor Dee Bradley Baker, and he is nicknamed “dark and broody” by Cid.
Dionysus is the archetype of intense opposites. Anyone who is possessed by this archetype experiences a dualistic personality. Dionysus men can be very passionate in one moment, and can be very cold in the next. Women who are possessed by this archetype can turn from loving, maternal women into raging, merciless Maenads (the women worshippers of Dionysus). Beauty and fatal danger highlight this dualism. The panther, leopard and lynx are some of the animals that symbolize Dionysus: they are graceful and fascinating, but also savage and bloodthirsty. Hunter embodies this archetype. In “Cut and Run”, he takes down multiple clone troopers ruthlessly and mercilessly, yet at the same time he is tender and loving towards Omega. Besides, half of his face is tattooed, which serves as a physical characteristic of his dualistic personality – there is beauty and danger in him, like the large cats that symbolize Dionysus. I can see why some fans ship Hunter and Fennec because they are both beautiful yet deadly, resembling Dionysus and the Maenads.
Tumblr media
Hunter’s face also serves as a motif that depicts the fate of Dionysus as life and death are intertwined in his mythology and worships. Dionysus was an adult god who died and spent time in the Underworld, and then returned as a new-born infant at his grave in Apollo’s sanctuary at Delphi. Applying this symbolism, the right side of Hunter’s face (which is clear) represents life as it shows his youth, while the left side of his face, which is tattooed with half of a skull represents death.
Dionysus is the dismembered archetype due to his inability to reconcile powerful opposites within. This archetype makes people prone to the possibility of psychological dismemberment – they may find it difficult to “keep it together” or they may feel like they have been split into many pieces. Dreams involving swords, knives, and self-mutilation are imagery of psychological dismemberment. An observing and accepting ego must be developed to control the Dionysus archetype, which can help a person to accept their intense emotions but not act on it. Hunter has a strong and stable ego to control his dualistic personality, and he channels this dismembered archetype through his efficient vibro-knife combat skills, which involves dismemberment techniques.

People who identify strongly as Dionysus may have a shamanic personality, which makes them a mediator between two worlds: the physical world and the invisible world. They may experience altered states of consciousness that can lead to profound insights. Hunter’s genetic modification grants him enhanced senses that allows him to feel the electromagnetic frequencies from anywhere on a planet. The electromagnetic spectrum consists of a range of electromagnetic radiation with different frequencies and wavelengths. As normal people, visible light is the only electromagnetic radiation we can see. On the other hand, Hunter can perceive visible light and feel other electromagnetic frequencies that are invisible to us, making him “the mediator between the physical world and the invisible world”. This may explain why Hunter is mistaken to be Force-sensitive by some viewers as Force-sensitive characters usually takes on the role of the mediator between two worlds.
In Greek mythology, Dionysus is a priest of the great mother goddess Cybele or Rhea, who purify him of the murders he committed in his madness, and teach him their mysteries and rites of initiation. As the mediator between two worlds, Dionysus calls women out of their ordinary lives to enjoy nature and to discover an ecstatic or mystic element in themselves. He usually enters their lives at a time of major transition, initiating them into a new experience. Women who identify strongly as Persephone are the easiest to be affected by Dionysus due to their receptivity. Omega, who is innately Persephone, and Echo, who has a Persephone anima, are both drawn to Hunter’s Dionysus influence. At the end of “Unfinished Business”, Echo, who has become a cyborg, leaves Rex and the 501st Legion to join the Bad Batch. Realizing that Kamino is no longer safe, Omega joins the Bad Batch and leaves her homeworld where she has spent her entire life on. By joining the Bad Batch, their individualities are affirmed and they develop unique abilities, which are initiated by Hunter.
According to Jean Shinoda Bolen, to cultivate the Dionysus archetype is to focus on the moment – to be moved by the connection between people or by the internal feelings in response to events. To get in touch with Dionysus may require people to leave their comfort zone, to embrace spontaneous sensuality, to get in touch with their bodies, to lose grasp of the mind and time, and to connect with nature. When Hunter is tracking, he becomes focused on the moment and becomes connected with nature – this is when he gets in touch with Dionysus. I feel that Pabu is the perfect place for him as the island community is in touch with nature and the people live with nature, ranging from the appreciation towards the sunset and the native animals (beauty), to the caution towards earthquakes and tidal waves (danger).
In Greek mythology, Dionysus’s mother Semele died when he was an unborn baby. His father Zeus sewed him into his own thigh and carried him until he was ready to be born. Hermes acted as a midwife in this birth. After that, Dionysus was surrounded by foster mothers and nursemaids who were inconsistent and unstable in raising him. Some of them even went mad and tried to kill him. When he grows up, he descends into the Underworld to resurrect his mother. The myth of Dionysus makes him the archetype of “the mother’s son”. Men who identify with this archetype usually seek an idealized woman to be their mother and lover, and this is especially true if they have experienced a physical or emotional separation from their mother. On the other hand, this archetype may cause a man to have a psychological or spiritual relationship with the Great Mother. They may be drawn towards expressions of maternal instincts like caretaking. This can result in a man to feel intimately related to women, to be a lover of women, and to intuitively understand women’s experience. In the myths, Dionysus is the only god who rescues and restores women as he rescues the depressed Ariadne and makes her his immortal wife, and he resurrects his deceased mother Semele and makes her immortal. With Dionysus as his innate archetype, Hunter has strong maternal instincts and is drawn towards children. This is evident in “Aftermath” when Hunter disobeys orders and returns to Kamino to rescue Omega. Unlike patriarchal fathers that subjugate their daughters, Hunter is an Earth Father that values Omega and affirms her individuality. Besides, in “Rescue on Ryloth”, Hunter decides to follow Hera’s lead since she knows Ryloth best, which affirms her leadership, piloting skills and fighting spirit, leading her to become a notable figure in the Rebel Alliance.
Tumblr media
Regardless of his age, a Dionysus man has the boyishness that makes some women (mostly motherly women) want to care for him. This is especially true for Hunter as he is the first member of the Bad Batch to catch Omega’s attention in “Aftermath”. Since Omega is the older sister to the Bad Batch, she has the instinct to care for them. She does care about Hunter a lot, especially that time he is captured by the Empire, and she is determined to rescue him, even saying to Echo that “saving Hunter is what matters”. It also may explain why many fans feel the desire to take care of Hunter. (I have this amusing thought that Hunter being the shortest Bad Batcher could be part of his boyishness traits)
In the myths, Dionysus travels through the known world of the Greeks, teaching people the cultivation of the vine and calling women away from their household hearths to follow him to remote mountains for ecstatic merrymaking. However, madness and violence also accompany him – either he is driven mad by Hera and commits murders, or the people who reject him become mad and violent. His sudden presence tends to disrupt mundane life, making him and others difficult or impossible to live normally. As a result, Dionysus is the archetype of the persecuted wanderer. This is most notable in one myth where King Lycurgus is hostile towards Dionysus and the Maenads as he beats them up, forcing the god to leap into the sea while the Maenads are tortured in their frenzied state. In the myths, Hera the Goddess of Marriage is Dionysus’s enemy due to their clashing values: Hera honours enduring marriage with its social obligations, continuity and fidelity, while Dionysus evokes disruptive passion and calls on women to forget their usual roles. Hunter does take on this archetype of the persecuted wanderer. In this video (link here) by Generation Tech, specifically between 9:07 – 9:21, Hunter is described as a lone wolf who does not want to fight but seems to find conflict due to his appearance and how the world sees him. Besides, the conflict between Hunter and Crosshair in “Aftermath” depicts the clash between Dionysus and Hera. When Hunter decides to go against orders and abandon his social obligations as a soldier to the Empire, Crosshair feels betrayed and becomes vindictive – taking on the worst shadow aspects of his Hera anima.
Tumblr media
Generation Tech thinks it is kind of rare for a person like Hunter to lead a unit. Then again, Clone Force 99 is a strange unit, so it suits Hunter. This finding is understandable as Jean Shinoda Bolen categorises Dionysus as an ambivalently viewed archetype: men in power view Dionysus as a foreign influence that should not be allowed into the culture or to their psyches, while women and the feminine aspect of men are likely to welcome his influence. Though, most patriarchal cultures judge Dionysus negatively and reject him. Among all the members of the Bad Batch, Hunter is the only one with the ambivalently accepted archetype while the others have the “rejected” archetypes as their innate archetypes, which explains why Hunter is the leader.
A Dionysus man usually has a few recognizable traits that do not conform to “old boy” standards, which may make other men to distrust or reject him. He may be either too feminine, too mystic, too counterculture, too threatening, or too attractive and too fascinating, for most men to be comfortable with him. Paradoxically, he may have closer male friendships than men who fit in with the societal standards, and those friendships may be extremely important to him in different ways. A Dionysus man is usually close to a Hermes friend (who helps him to reach conversational depths), a Hephaestus friend (who values his appreciation towards his creations), and an Apollo friend (his opposite). These relationships are shown throughout Hunter’s relationships with Tech (Hermes), Echo (Hephaestus) and Crosshair (Apollo). Hunter’s relationship with Wrecker (Ares) seems to indicate that a Dionysus man can have a close friendship with a positive Ares man (and Wrecker’s Aphrodite anima as Dionysus’s wife Ariadne is most closely related to Aphrodite and she was worshipped as Ariadne Aphrodite on Cyprus) because they are emotional, sensual and passionate, they live at the moment and react with their bodies. To Hunter, the Bad Batch is more than a group of elite soldiers – they are his family.
Tumblr media
The Dionysus archetype does have some limitations. As the divine child archetype, a Dionysus person may have an inflated sense of ego. They will expect special treatment or recognition, and will feel bitter when their specialness is not honoured. On the other hand, a Dionysus person may have low self-esteem as the divine child archetype is actively repressed in them since the mainstream society expects them to fit in. With that, a Dionysus person is likely to suffer from distortions in self-perception. Since most of their positive self-esteem are based on purely subjective feelings, they may struggle to get a realistic sense of themselves or their worth. Their struggle may worsen as they receive inconsistent treatment and reactions from other people. In “Aftermath”, the Kaminoans, specifically Nala Se and Lama Su, view the Bad Batch as a special unit and are proud of their impressive battle performance. Lama Su even goes so far as to try to convince Tarkin that they could serve as a valuable asset to the Empire. However, the regular clone troopers are intimidated by the Bad Batch and some even make fun of them, calling them “defective”. The inconsistent treatment would have caused Hunter, Tech, Wrecker and Crosshair to suffer from a distorted self-perception back as cadets, and I believe that Hunter was the most affected by it. This limitation may explain why Hunter starts to doubt himself and his leadership in “Aftermath” as Crosshair blames him for getting the team into trouble by disobeying orders but they never have issues with disobeying orders in the past. Moreover, when Omega refuses Hunter’s comforting touch due to her grief, he looks hurt because she never refuses his physical comfort. It does seem that inconsistent treatment can hurt his sensitive soul.
In the myths, Dionysus is believed to enter the body of his worshippers, driving them into ecstatic heights, raging fury or sorrowful melancholy. This is like alcohol coursing through blood vessels, affecting the senses and influencing the body and mind. People who identify strongly as Dionysus react with their bodies and feel emotions in their bodies. They are highly aware of their body sensations as they use their five senses to experience the world. This means that they are susceptible to sensory overload and they can easily become afraid of having something wrong with their bodies. Since Hunter has enhanced senses, he is definitely susceptible to sensory overload, and he must have experienced it more often back as a cadet.
In real life, many cult leaders are Dionysus people as they can influence their followers like how Dionysus does to the Maenads. This influence can also happen in rock concerts, especially when the star suddenly appears on stage, driving the crowd wild. The ecstatic feeling can quickly turn into deep sorrow after Dionysus the god suddenly leaves. The intense emotional changes can drive the Dionysus person and other people mad. If the Dionysus person has experienced severe emotional trauma and has an unstable ego, they are likely to become a mass murderer like the cult leaders Charles Manson and Jim Jones. As for their cult followers, they are like the frenzied Maenads – sharing their fate to be torn apart, dismembered or cruelly persecuted.
Although Hunter does not take on the shadow and criminal aspects of the Dionysus archetype, his pessimism does affect the people around him. In “A Distant Echo”, Hunter thinks that Skako Minor could be a trap for Rex and Anakin as they go to rescue Echo there, but he and the rest of the Bad Batch are willing to accompany them on the mission. When Tech loses Echo’s signal, Hunter reaffirms his suspicion that the Separatists are using Echo to lure them into a trap, even going so far to believe that Echo is dead. Wrecker, Crosshair and Anakin seem to also agree with the same possibility – as if they are affected by Hunter’s pessimism. The only person who is unaffected by it is Tech due to the temporal nature and viewpoint of his Hermes archetype, as he first suspects that the atmospheric disturbances may have caused the signal loss. In “Rescue on Ryloth”, Hunter is pessimistic on helping Hera to rescue her parents from the Empire, and offers to take her off-world. Although Hera is determined to save her parents, she is devastated that Hunter has given up on her. Fortunately, Omega’s assertiveness, protective nature and compassion manage to convince Hunter to take the risk, and help Hera to trust the Bad Batch. In “War-Mantle”, upon realizing that Gregor is taken to a well-fortified Imperial base guarded by many clone commandos and stormtroopers, Hunter initially wants to give up on the mission but Echo manages to convince him to carry on.
As stated before, it is essential for a Dionysus person to develop an observing and accepting ego, which helps them to embrace this archetype without judgment and shame, without repressing it, and without going mad. It also helps them to contain their dualistic personality and to embrace their divine child archetype in a healthy manner – to be humble and to live authentically. Since Hunter is stoic, which is something a Dionysus person normally struggles to be, it means that he has successfully developed an observing and accepting ego.
A Dionysus person also has to develop other archetypes as allies, which are Zeus, Hermes and Apollo. Zeus, or Jupiter as the Romans called him, is the chief and the most powerful of the Olympian gods. As an Olympian Sky God, he rules from Mount Olympus. The sky represents the conscious mind, which is the realm of will, power, control and reason. He is the God of Lightning and the thunderbolt is his symbol, which serves as his punitive expression. He is also the rain-bringer, which serves as his generative expression. He grants authority to kings and guards their rights and powers, maintains the laws and punishes lawbreakers. He also fathers many children, both gods and mortals alike. Many successful leaders have the Zeus archetype – they are adept at strategy, can form alliances, can establish and consolidate power, and can impose their will on others.
Zeus is the archetype of the king, which drives a person to establish a realm where they will rule over it. This realm can be a house and a family, a large company or a piece of land. For Hunter, Clone Force 99 is his family and the Marauder is their home. Although Kamino is their home as well, they are usually away due to missions, so the Marauder feels more like their home. Hunter is pretty protective of the Marauder, especially in “A Distant Echo” when he wants the keeradak off the ship as the flying reptile is damaging the ship. Hunter has a strong attachment to Clone Force 99. He has the team’s logo on his bunk bed and a group photo in his storage box.
The thunderbolt and the eagle are symbols of Zeus. They represent expressions of power from afar, and quick decisive actions. The Zeus archetype enables a person to see the big picture and to be aware of particular important details – just like an eagle that soars high above the ground and can detect movements of its small prey. Once they focus on the detail, it has their total attention and they pursue it single-mindedly – like an eagle chasing after its prey. If the pursuit suddenly ends, they can change direction easily, cut their losses and move on – like an eagle giving up their pursuit after losing sight of its prey or its prey has been taken by another predator. Hunter takes on the archetype of decisive action well. In “The Bad Batch”, he has an overview perspective of the mission to steal Separatist intel from the Cyber Centre and yet he can act quickly when the plan goes awry. When the gunship is shot down and an army of battle droids are heading towards the clones, Hunter initiates Plan 82 “Shockwave”, and he and his teammates take down the droid army in an aggressive move. In “Aftermath”, Hunter commands Wrecker to punch the prison wall when he predicts the thunder will sound as mentioned in this short video. This is to ensure the clone shock troopers will not be able to tell the difference and be suspicious of their actions. Hunter can become intensely focused on the mission but he can also quickly abandon the mission if there have limited information about it and it is too risky.
Tumblr media
Zeus is an excellent strategist and alliance maker, which helps him to overthrow his father Cronus and the Titans. Successful Zeus figures can cooperate with other powerful people to strengthen their power and expand their control. Their words are enough to command others. Hunter is a powerful alliance maker. In “The Bad Batch”, when Crosshair and Wrecker get into conflict with Jesse, Rex and Kix, Hunter commands Wrecker to release Jesse and reminds everyone to work together as they are all fighting the same enemy – the Separatists. Though, Hunter concedes command to Rex, who has decided to take charge of the mission, which makes Hunter not much of a Zeus figure for he does not seek more power (which is a good thing). After defecting from the Empire, Hunter forges an alliance with Cid to financially support his team, but he also sets boundaries as he does not fully trust her. After all, bounty hunters and mercenaries are expected to look out for their own best interests, which is something a Zeus figure knows well. Besides, when Roland Durand forces Cid out and takes over her territory in “Infested”, Hunter decides that the squad should leave Ord Mantell as he does not care about Cid’s fate and wellbeing. In “Common Ground”, Hunter reluctantly leaves Omega under Cid’s care as the mission to Raxus is too dangerous due to heavy Imperial occupation. Upon returning from the mission, he is upset that Cid has taken advantage of Omega’s natural strategic skills and her good intentions to pay off the team’s debt, by setting up dejarik matches that end up attracting too much attention. Since then, Hunter starts to take Omega on missions as he is protective of her and he trusts in her capabilities. Moreover, Hunter also forges an alliance with Rex, making the Bad Batch part of his resistance network. All of these indicate that Hunter uses alliance to maintain good relations and to provide support for his loved ones – never for power and control.
Zeus is the archetype of the Sky Father, the dynastic father and the authoritarian father. As the leader, Hunter shares some aspects of this archetype. He usually expects his teammates to follow his orders like good soldiers. In “Cut and Run”, he gets angry at Tech for getting the Marauder impounded by the Imperial authorities as that is not part of his plan to get the chain codes. He knows that Tech has it all under control but he is more concerned of Omega getting involved as she is on the ship with Tech and Echo. In “Common Ground”, Hunter expects Omega to follow his order to stay close to Cid as she is not allowed to join them on the mission. Like an authoritarian father, when it comes to making crucial decisions, Hunter lets everyone speak up and he listens to them, but he always has the final word. Sometimes, they even ask for his permission to do something not related to missions, like Wrecker asking for Hunter’s permission to let him and Omega go out and have some Mantell Mix in “Battle Scars”, and Omega first seeking Hunter’s permission before playing with Cut and Suu’s children in “Cut and Run” and before giving Hera a tour of the Marauder in “Devil’s Deal”.
As the Sky Father, a Zeus figure is emotionally distant from his children, and may be unavailable in most of their lives. He provides generously for his children, but he is motivated by his desire to control them and he expects loyalty in return. He can shape the lives of his children, either enhancing their natural abilities through education and opportunities he can provide, or taking away the lives their children may be more suited for. His absence and judgmental attitude can cause his children to feel emotionally abandoned or rejected, and they are likely to suffer from poor self-esteem if they cannot live up to his expectations. However, the myth of Dionysus causes Zeus to become a nurturing Earth Father and a positive father archetype. He acts as a father and mother to Dionysus by creating a womb space for his son in his own thigh. He also rescues Dionysus when Hera drives his son’s foster parents mad. Zeus as the positive father archetype can help a Dionysus person to embrace his individuality and live with his irrational thoughts and intense feelings without acting on them or rejecting them. A Dionysus person can develop this archetype if they have a loving father, or through a mentor or therapist that acts as a father figure. I believe that Hunter develops this archetype through his relationship with Clone 99. We know from “Clone Cadets” that 99 sees all clones as individuals, even calling them by their names. He gives valuable advice to Hevy, inspiring him to embrace his nickname and to take leadership of the Domino Squad, which Hevy once calls the squad as a “bad batch”. 99 is like a loving father to the clones who feel like they do not fit in.
Hermes, who acts a midwife to Dionysus’s birth and has rescued him multiple times, is another archetype a Dionysus person must develop. As the Messenger God, Hermes can travel between realms with ease, and he represents the ability to go from the depths to the heights without getting trapped emotionally. A Dionysus person exists in the present, seeing it as the only reality for them. If they are depressed, it feels eternal to them, and it can lead to thoughts of suicide as “the only way out”. The Hermes archetype can help them to view that whatever they are feeling is only temporary. I believe when they were cadets, every time Hunter suffered from sensory overload and felt like unending pain, Tech (the Hermes archetype) would be the one to comfort him, telling him that his pain would soon pass. Hunter and Tech are possibly closer than we think based on two subtle hints. One, Tech explains about Hunter’s genetic enhancements to Jesse and Kix in “The Bad Batch”, indicating that he knows Hunter thoroughly. Two, in “Aftermath”, when Hunter notices Omega from the gallery, Tech immediately picks up on his shifted, intense focus and asks him “what is it?”. When they look again, only to find Omega gone, Hunter lies that it is nothing, and Tech looks unconvinced. In orphic theology, the infant Dionysus was torn into pieces but his heart was saved by Athena and he was reborn through Zeus. Applying this myth, Tech, who has a strong Athena anima, may have acted as a rescuer to Hunter, who is innately Dionysus.
Tumblr media
Apollo is the third archetype that a Dionysus person must develop. Both Apollo and Dionysus were worshipped at Delphi – Dionysus in three winter months and Apollo during the remainder of the year. The two gods are the opposites (Apollonian and Dionysian) – Apollo represents rationality, linear thinking, clarity and objective perspective; Dionysus represents irrationality, emotionality, subjective perspective and paradoxes. Hunter develops the Apollo archetype during his military training. I also feel that Crosshair, who has a strong Apollo archetype, sometimes helps Hunter to think objectively when he starts to take things too personally. For example, before they depart for a mission in “Aftermath”, Hunter says that there is something about Omega he cannot figure it out. This prompts Crosshair to tell him that kids are not his expertise. Although his statement is wrong (maybe he knows it, who knows?), it is possible that he says this to Hunter because he wants Hunter to focus on the mission.
Tumblr media
According to Jean Shinoda Bolen, a Dionysus person must undertake two major tasks. The first task is the journey to the Underworld, which is a hero’s task. Psychologist Erich Neumann states that a Dionysus person must expose themselves to the unconscious, which is the darkness, the void, the Underworld, the primordial womb of the Great Mother, and the nonego where a person may be overcome by their irrational fears. The Dionysus person must endure the dangers of the Underworld and return with their ego intact and be strengthen by the journey – this is how they grow from an eternal adolescent into a hero. In his myths, Dionysus takes on this hero’s task, descending into the Underworld to resurrect his deceased mother Semele. This myth depicts the psychological journey that Dionysus takes to separate his personal mother from the archetypal Great Mother, overcoming his fear of the unconscious and the masculine ego’s fear of the devouring feminine. Hunter’s anima (which is discussed in this link) does resemble the Great Mother, but he is not consumed by this powerful feminine archetypal force and he does not reject her, which indicates that he has succeeded in this hero’s task.
The second task is to have a personal committed relationship, which helps a Dionysus person to move beyond the archetypal lover, and impersonal or transpersonal relationships like Dionysus’s relationship with his Maenads. This personal committed relationship usually involves finding Ariadne. In his myths, Dionysus comes across Ariadne on the island of Naxos. She has been abandoned there by Theseus, who has used her to aid him to kill the Minotaur and escape from Crete. Dionysus has compassion and empathy for her. He then makes her his wife, and Zeus grants her eternal life and youth. For Hunter, his personal committed relationships are with the Bad Batch, and they are familial in nature. He loves Tech, Wrecker and Crosshair for who they are. He is compassionate and empathic towards Echo, offering him to join the team so he can feel belonged. In “Aftermath”, Omega is thrown into a cell by clone shock troopers, resembling Ariadne being abandoned and betrayed by Theseus. She is surprised when Hunter tells her that the Bad Batch returns to Kamino to save her even though she has warned them not to come back. He offers her to join them, which she accepts, resembling Dionysus rescuing Ariadne. Moreover, in “Battle Scars”, Omega expresses her fears that she would be left alone in the dark if the surgery goes wrong, as she has similar experiences back in Nala Se’s private laboratory. Hunter comforts her and reassures her that she is not going anywhere and she is stuck with them in the long run.

We all have the divine child archetype within us. However, mainstream society tells us to repress it – to cut off our individuality just to fit in and gain success in this world. It is important for us to take on appropriate personas (or masks) for certain occasions. However, to continuously live like this means to be inauthentic to yourself. A person can have all the success in the world yet can still feel depressed, lonely and meaningless. When life becomes painful and empty, a person will usually get in touch with the divine child archetype, sending them on a spiritual journey or a path of individuation. They seek to find what is true for them, to uncover their feelings and find meaning in their lives. Most people take on this journey around midlife. Some people have gone through this early in their lives, but there are also many who never get a chance to go through it.
When the Kaminoans created Clone Force 99, they probably expected the clones to be compliant like regular clone troopers, with their genetic modifications serving as bonuses. The enhanced clones do meet their expectations by excelling in battles. However, their non-conforming personalities and their tendency to disobey orders are described as “side effects” of their genetic mutations, making them “imperfect” soldiers. As a result, they are described to be “genetically defective” despite having desirable mutations. The Kaminoans only value Clone Force 99 for their excellent fighting skills, and they would have casted them out if they did not perform well in training, just like Lama Su planned to do to the Domino Squad in “Clone Cadets”. Hunter, Tech, Wrecker and Crosshair might have caught on to the Kaminoans’ narcissistic treatment towards them, which may have harmed their self-esteem. To make matters worse, they often get bullied by regular clone troopers because of their uniqueness. Kamino is their homeworld, but the atmosphere is far from home as they always feel like the world is against them. Even though they gain success in this world through their 100% success rate, they are still treated as outsiders due to their appearances and personalities, which are beyond their control.
Hunter, Tech, Wrecker and Crosshair not just had to go through intense physical and mental training like the regular clone troopers, they also struggled with their individualities. They most likely suffered from a distorted self-perception. Sometimes, they might feel so special about themselves that they viewed themselves as deserving of special treatment and may get angry when they did not get it. Sometimes, they might hate themselves for being special and want to “cut away” their uniqueness just to fit in.
Since Clone Force 99 is named after Clone 99, many fans believe that 99 probably served as the positive father figure to Hunter, Tech, Wrecker and Crosshair. Although 99 was viewed as a “failure” due to his malformed body, he embraced his individuality and faithfully carried out his maintenance and janitorial duties. He had a resilient and wise spirit as he remained unaffected by other people’s negative perception on him, and he gave advices on teamwork, brotherhood and self-acceptance. I believe through 99, Hunter cultivates a positive father archetype and possibly a positive anima within himself. These two archetypes become the Earth Father and the Earth Mother in his psyche, and they help to nurture his Dionysus archetype, affirming his specialness. I believe that Hunter is the first member of the Bad Batch to embrace his individuality. After that, he extends his wisdom and unconditional love to others. He guides Tech, Wrecker and Crosshair on their paths of individuation, helping them to overcome their inflated ego and low self-esteem. He affirms their specialness, which in turn cultivates self-acceptance in them. He affirms Echo’s uniqueness and shows unconditional love to him. He also affirms Omega’s uniqueness, allowing her to make her own decisions and he appreciates her insights. All of these show that Hunter is a positive and generative father figure to the Bad Batch, and this is not just limited to Omega.

Lament of a Lover: The Heartrending Myth of Orpheus and Eurydice
As I delve into the rich tapestry of Greek mythology, there’s one story that has always held a special place in my heart—a story of love so profound that it reaches beyond the realms of the living and the dead. It’s the saga of Orpheus and Eurydice, a myth that has resonated with me on a deeply personal level.
In this blog post, I invite you to join me on a journey through this heartrending tale, exploring not only its timeless beauty but also the emotions it stirs within my own soul.
Orpheus, the son of Apollôn and the Muse Calliope, was gifted with a voice so enchanting that it could soothe even the wildest of beasts and make the trees sway in harmony. He was a master of the lyre, and his music was said to be a reflection of the heavens themselves. But his heart belonged to Eurydice, a mortal maiden of extraordinary beauty, whose presence filled his life with light.
Their love was a melody, a sweet serenade that echoed through the hills and valleys of their homeland. However, their happiness was fleeting, for on their wedding day, a tragic accident befell Eurydice. She was bitten by a venomous snake and succumbed to its deadly poison, leaving Orpheus shattered with grief.
But Orpheus, with a love that defied death, was determined to reclaim his beloved. Armed with his lyre and his hauntingly beautiful voice, he embarked on a perilous journey to the Underworld, the realm of Haidês and Persephone, where the souls of the departed dwelled.
As he entered the realm of shadows, Orpheus sang his heart out, his music piercing the very core of existence. His lament touched the hearts of the gods themselves, and even the stone-hearted Haidês was moved. He agreed to allow Eurydice to return to the world of the living but with one condition: Orpheus must walk ahead of her and not look back until they both reached the world above.
Orpheus and Eurydice began their ascent from the Underworld, their love rekindled by the prospect of reunion. However, in his anxiety and doubt, Orpheus could not resist stealing a glance back at his beloved Eurydice, just before they reached the surface. In that fleeting moment, she was wrenched away from him, pulled back into the darkness of the Underworld forever.
Orpheus was left alone on the earth’s surface, his heart shattered once more. His music, once a source of joy and solace, became a lament, a mournful cry that echoed through the mountains and valleys, conveying the depths of his grief.
Tragically, Orpheus’s own story met a somber end. After his heart-wrenching failure to rescue Eurydice, he returned to the world of the living in deep despair. Eventually, his life took a tragic turn when he was ambushed and torn apart by a group of frenzied women, followers of Dionysus. Even in death, Orpheus’s music lived on, with his head and his lyre becoming revered relics, inspiring all who encountered them.

ISTLWISMM scene from chapter six.
There was a line here. One that Percy should be careful in how he walked because right now he was just a ‘kid’ who had never had survived a single quest. To this god in front of him Percy was no hero of Olympus who decided to save the Olympains instead of razing it. He was not one of the seven who had fought against Gaia and the Giants.
But that was the thing though. Dionysus nor Bacchus had given a single fuck about that even when Percy had been those things. Bacchus had not cared to freely give aid - no, he had needed entertainment, as though the war with the Giants had just been a game - even when all that gold was given to him as offering.
There was no giving enough to gods.
Yet despite that thought, despite the anger churning in his stomach, Percy couldn’t help but think that wasn’t completely true even if he was begrudgingly to admit it. While Bacchus had demanded and then demanded more, Dionysus had done something despite no offerings given to him. There had been no gold nor any soda given to him. There had merely been-
(“You could ask for help,” Mr. D had murmured to him, as if this was an amusing thought. “You could say please.”)
A prayer.
To others saying the simple words please and help were not a prayer. But from Percy that was exactly what they were.
“Percy, Mr.D asked if you understood who you’re speaking to.” Grover said, bringing Percy’s from his thoughts even though Grover’s voice sounded further away than he should have. He sounded nervous, Percy realized belatedly. His bladder would be killing him soon.
Percy once again found Dionysus’ eyes. In those purple eyes Percy saw women ripping limbs of innocents and laughing as blood splattered upon them.
He saw non believers choking from vines only they hadn’t. No, Percy thought adamantly, that wasn’t what had happened. It had been the ma n t I c o r e...
His tail had bristled, but the planks under his paws erupted into grape vines, which immediately began wrapping around the monster’s body, sprouting new leaves and clusters of green baby grapes that ripened in seconds as the manticore shrieked, until he was golfed in huge mass of vines, leaves, and full clusters of purple grapes. Finally, the grapes stopped shivering, and Percy had the feeling that somewhere inside there, the manticore was no more.
The scene changed. The transition was so abrupt Percy was left feeling like a passenger in a car that was abruptly going a hundred miles an hour instead of forty-five.
Sailors were screaming as their hands turned into flippers and oH
That was t he m.
Even after all these years they still feared Dionysus. “Behold!” Percy shouted. “The god’s chosen beverage. Tremble before the horror of Diet Coke!” The dolphin-men began to panic. They were on the edge of retreat. Percy could feel i-
“Come back,” was ordered. Percy did not look away but what was before him changed again. There were hands cradling his jaws. The touch an anchor against his memories instead of an attack. Percy blinked. He felt not fully here - he felt as though there was water muffling his senses instead of sharpening them - but he couldn’t not be here. It was too dangerous to simply let go-
“You’re obstinate even like this.” The voice was familiar and it was close. Too close, Percy realized sluggishly. He raised his hand and curved his fingers around one of the hands holding his jaw. The god needed to let go. He was being gentle but Percy wasn’t his to be gentle to.

mythological creatures (part 2)
hi, this is part two of mythological creatures (that you could add to your wip 👀)! this post will focus on greek, chinese, and scottish mythological creatures hehe
greek
centaurs: a creature with a human’s upper body and a horse’s lower body. they followed dionysus, the god of wine, and were known for being boisterous savages.
chimera: a fire-breathing hybrid creature with the head of a lion, the body of a goat, and the tail of a serpent.
harpies: avian creatures with the heads of women and long talons. vicious and violent when provoked.
hydra: a giant nine-headed water serpent creature that dwelled in the lake of lerna, the entrance to the underworld. for each head that is decapitated, two heads grow in its place
manticore: a creature with a human face, a lion’s body, and a scorpions tail. it can shoot poisoned spikes from its tail and mane to paralyse prey.
nymphs: minor nature deities (typically female) who presided over local natural phenomena (e.g. springs, trees, meadows, etc.)
phoenix: an immortal bird that regenerates when it rises from their own ashes. while some myths claim that it dies and decomposes, others claim that it explodes into flames before its death.
satyrs: a creature with the body of a man, the legs of a horse, and horns. they were companions of dionysus, the wine god, and loved wine, music, and dance. they were conflated with the roman fauns, so some depictions of satyrs had goat legs instead.
sirens: a creature that is half bird, half woman, living on an island. they have alluring voices that they used to lure sailors and kill them. in some myths, they were fated to die if anyone survives their singing
chinese
long (dragon): perhaps the most importnat creatures of chinese mythology/folklore, chinese dragons are giant serpentine creatures with four legs and no wings. they are associated with water and the sky, as well as strength, power, and fortune. they could control the water andd the skies. there are many dragons in chinese myths, from yinglong (the rain dragon) to chilong (the sea dragon). the emperor of china is commonly associated with the dragon.
feng huang (phoenix): not to be confused with the greek phoenix, it is a bird born of fire with a rooster’s beak, a swallow’s face, a fowl’s forehead, a snake’s neck, but often depicted as a multicoloured pheasant with long tail feathers like a peacock. they symbolise virtue and grace. it is often associated with the empress in imperial china, paired with the dragon that represents the emperor.
qi lin: one of the luckiest creatures in chinese mythology, it is chimera-like, with the body of an elk the head of a lion, the horns of a deer, the eyes of a tiger, and an ox tail. it appears in areas ruled by wise and benevolent leaders, signifiying the arrival of a good ruler.
hu li jing/jiu wei hu (nine-tailed fox): as the name suggests, they are foxes with nine tails— cunning spirits with magical powers, often disguising themselves as a beautiful woman to seduce men. they eat humans, and some myths depict them as having the power to spit fire. they can be seen as an auspicious omen as eating a hu li jing can protect humans from poison. the hu li jing is similar to the japanese kitsune.
pixiu: winged creatures with a dragon’s head and a lion’s body that represent wealth. males help their master seek wealth, while females guard the wealth at home. stone pixiu statues are common in homes.
xiang liu: a nine-headed snake that is said to bring floods and destruction. it a is a cruel creature that fed on human flesh and can spray polluted water that turn places into swamps.
huo dou: a black dog whose appearance foreshadows a great fire with many deaths. the huo dou can eat, breathe, and excrete fire.
dia jiang: a six-footed bird with four wings and no ears, eyes, or mouth. it lives in a mountain filled with rivers and precious materials like gold and jade. despite their lack of body parts, they enjoy singing and dancing.
scottish
it’s interesting to note how most scottish mythological creatures are aquatic! - audrey
cat fairies (cait sith): cats that are as large as dogs who have an identifying white patch on their chests, able to steal souls of the unburied dead. are said to be able to walk on hind legs when not being seen by humans, they’re also where the myth of cats being witches’ animal forms came from.
kelpie (each-uisge): supernatural aquatic horse that lures people to ride on its back, before drowning them in a lake. could be identified by its constantly dripping mane, but can sometimes take a human form.
loch ness monster (uilebheist loch nis): lake-dwelling monster that is said to inhabit loch ness, described as potentially having a long neck and several humps protruding from its back. not particularly aggressive, just conspiracy-theory-ish :)
selkies: seals who can take attractive human forms by shedding their seal skin, can form relationships with actual humans. can only return to the sea if they have their seal skins.
will-o’-the-wisps (teine biorach): spirits that manifest as ghost flames that appear at night, they can be mischievous and like to lure travellers into the wrong direction with their blue flames
wulver: similar to a werewolf but doesn’t have a human form, it stalks the Shetland forests. isn’t too aggressive unless provoked but will leave fish on people’s windowsills if it notices people are starving.
men of the minch (na fir ghorma): mythical, blue-skinned men who live in the stretch of water between the outer hebrides and mainland scotland. they have the power to control storms, and when coming into contact with humans, will ask ship captains to finish a poem that they begin reciting. if the vessel master doesn’t complete the poem, their ship is capsized.

Summery: Dionysus warns percy, percy thinks he lost his chance until she has a talk with artemis
Chapter: 1/?
Words:6425
Angst, fluff, coming out, trans girl percy, Poseidon is a dick, Myrina (trans girl percy)
Author notes: this is my first fic so it isn't that well written but I hope you enjoy
"Child, I warn you, don't ask for what you want, it isn't time yet." Dionysus said, trying to sound as cryptic as possible.
"What do you mean?" I asked, not sure how to even respond to that.
Then he disappeared with a flash of lightning, without even leaving a note.
After an hour I finally got my answer
————————————————————————
Tyson walked back to the group, looking satisfied with his new materials for forging.
He immediately started comparing them with Grovers new sets of Panpipes, and Clarisse's helmet.
"Annabeth Chase, comeforth." Zeus' voice thundered, showing he was getting bored with us.
"Lord Zeus, I would like to receive a blessing of agility and speed, to help me fight faster in the next battles." Annabeth's voice was the clearest of all of us, not showing any fear; but it still made my chest burn. She asked for a blessing?, was that allowed?, but only a few gods seemed to acknowledge it.
Zeus spoke in an irritated tone, "You have worked hard, however we deemed that you cannot receive a blessing for a quest that isn't your own." As Zeus said that, Ares leaned forward with a smug smile.
"I understand. Lord Zeus, may I save the reward for another time then."Annabeth said with dissatisfaction in her voice. "You may."
As Annabeth walked back, Athena was the only one that looked satisfied, then Zeus called out.
"Perseus Jackson, come forth."
I walked to the centre of the hall, with every step my heart beat harder, what can I ask for?, should I get equipment?, I have riptide, but is that enough?, and what should I get?, Armour?, what type?
Until I remember Circes island
————————————————————————
"What do you see?" C.C. asked, with a confused face, almost like she couldn't believe her own work.
"A girl, I see a girl, what does that mean?" I asked, heart beating but not in fear, or disgust but definitely something I didn't know.
"That means, my dear, that you are looking at your ideal self, your perfect you, and I can help you reach it."
I froze, I didn't know what to do, I could finally become who I wanted for so long.
"I'll give you time to think about it. What would make you truly happy, to be how you currently are, or to be the girl in that mirror. You can be beautiful, have long flowing hair, with a beaming smile?" C.C. reasoned, and it sounds right, not just her soothing voice but also her words. I could become who I want to be, the person I hid.
"Can you really make me look like her?, truly be her?" I asked, feeling a new tightness in my throat.
"I can, but it starts with you, to be her you need to start eating more fruits, a light exercise routine, and substitute this for a normal meal." She said as she walked behind a bar and filled a glass of water and added a drink mix powder.
"And you're sure there aren't any side effects?" I asked, skeptical despite her obvious acceptance. "Not one, this meal substitute will give you the perfect body." C.C. assured.
I drank, hesitant at first until I felt my body change, my body became hot, like my blood was boiling, then I started to get shorter; like I wanted, but I realised I kept on shrinking, and my body rapidly started growing hair, my teeth fely heavy in my mouth. I tried to shout at her but all that came out was "reeet, reeet, reeet"
"They you are, my dear, your true self. It's a shame, there was finally a man that understands the truth of the superiority of women, but you are still a man so it can't be changed."
My heart pounds, harder and harder every second, in pain, shock, fear, but most of all from the feeling of loss. The loss of something I was promised, of something I never had.
But I also feel relieved, I don't need to question if my friends would accept me, if they were still my friends.
————————————————————————
I know what I want, in front of these 12 gods, I will tell them that I want to change my body, I want to be a girl.
"Perseus Jackson, what is the reward you would like -" Zeus started, "FOR THE QUEST YOU TRIED TO STEAL FROM MY DAUGHTER" Ares shouted over his father.
"SHE COULDN'T OF SUCCEEDED WITH OUT MY SON, YOU SHOULD BE THANKING HIM AND ANNABETH CHASE FOR NOT TAKING ALL THE CREDIT THAT THEY DESERVE." My father argued, which led to each god voicing their opinions.
"QUITE, EACH OF YOU" Zeus thundered, as the master bolt slammed against the floor. "I would like-" my voice became tight.
"Could I please... if it isn't any trouble, I'm sure you can but ..." I was already anxious, but thinking of Circe's island made it worse.
"Percy, it's fine, just tell us what you want." Poseidon said, trying to calm my nerves, but it didn't help.
Dionysus' warning rang in my ears, "don't ask for what you want." Was he talking about now, he had to be.
"Could I please . . . also save the reward for later,." It's heart braking, but still it feels like it's the right thing, for some reason Dionysus warned me, and I'm not dumb enough to take a warning from the god of insanity lightly.
What made it worse was that the only one that looked satisfied was Athena, but what is strange is that Artemis, and Aphrodite both sat back, like they're disappointed.
"Seems not all of Poseidon's children have a sea sponge where their brain should be." Athena said, which didn't make me feel any better. "Good choice, Perseus Jackson."
"Uh, thank you, Lady Athena." And with that I headed back to the group, with disappointed looks from three gods, and questioning looks from two demigods, and a satyr.
"Young demigods, Cyclops, and satyr, you have all proven worthy to receive gifts, make sure you do not waste them, or you may deeply regret your choice." Zeus warned.
With a crack of thunder, and a blinding light we were all back at camp.
For awhile I questioned why Dionysus warned me, why he didn't want me ask for what I want.
Sadly I got my answer a few months later
————————————————————————
"My Lady, thank you for letting me speak to you in private." I said, nervous of the next words that will come out of my mouth.
"I need no thanks." Artemis said smoothly. "What is it that you would like to speak of?"
"After the last quest I was on, Dionysus warned me to not ask for what I wanted, I wanted to know if you knew why he warned me?" I said, my heart racing, knowing what she would ask and what my answer had to be.
"I can only tell you if I know what you want." She said with a slight smile. "Can you tell me what your request would have been?"
My throat is tight and my voice is shaky, I haven't told anyone this yet, not my Mom, or Annabeth, or Grover, "My Lady, I wish to be a girl, I have wanted to be one for as long as I remember, I thought I could become one with the reward but Dionysus told me not to." I said with a breaking voice
My tears stream down my face, the words are choked out of my mouth, I place my head down in shame. "Lady Artemis, I need to know if I wasted my chance."
Artemis walked towards me, placed her hands on my face and made me look her in the eyes before she said, "You have wasted nothing, you are a maiden that has survived much greater threats that a child your age should, both mortal and immortal."
"Thank you, my lady." I said, practically a whisper.
"I don't need thanks for speaking the truth, as my own personal reward for your bravery I will tell you why you were warned, as well as giving you my protection." As she said that a small crescent moon appeared on my arm, it shined with silvery light, bright against my skin.
————————————————————————
After a few minutes she told me everything about Dionysus' warning.
"Is there any more you would like to ask?" She said with an even voice.
"There is one final thing I would like to ask." I said as I wipe away the tears that fell from our conversation.
I know it's a long shot but I still have to ask, just incase the fates decide to do me a favour this one time. "Can you turn me into a girl?"
"I can, but" Not the best way to start. "the only way for me to grant that wish right now is for you to be a hunter. If you are willing then take the vow and I will accept it."
I have another chance, but I don't know if I can take it... I run my hand through my hair to my neck, I know I want love, but can I lose this, I might never get this chance again. But is it worth the love I might lose, or are the powers I would gain worth not seeing the people at camp, or my mom.
"I'm sorry... I want to try to find love, I can't lose that, I don't... I don't want to lose that either." I try to wipe the tears, but they don't stop. Gods, I'm a fool.
"I understand, many people have denied me before because of love, but without you being part of the hunt I can't grant your wish. If you ever change your mind I will gladly accept you."
"I understand, Thank you my Lady." As I get up to leave, wiping the tears from my eyes, she says one last thing to me, "I swear on the styx that I won't let any of the other gods hurt you for this." As she said that thunder rolled over the mountains.
"And if you need help -no matter the reason- just call and I will be there. You aren't a hunter, but you are a maiden, and maidens will always receive my help."
I hold a thankful smile, "Thank you."
She smiled back, "As I have said, there is no need. I will see you tomorrow so please rest well."
I did, and after a few weeks I would learn if she would keep that promise
————————————————————————
I watched as Thalia accepted being Artemis' new lieutenant, there was a silver light that surrounded her, until she seemed to absorb it.
When she made her way back Zeus called "ANNABETH CHASE"
"Last time you were here you asked for a blessing, at the time we said no if it wasn't your quest, however for your bravery and strength we will allow you to receive a blessing if you wish." Zeus explained while multiple gods gave Ares looks of hatred.
"Thank you Lord Zeus, I would like a blessing of speed and agility to help me fight." Annabeth said with confidence that rivaled Apollo.
"Is that all?" Zeus gave her a look as if she grew an extra heads.
"If I can ask for more, and it isn't too much to ask, I would like a blessing of strength as well." I questioned how her voice never wavered.
"If that is all you ask, Athena will provide the blessing, as you are synchronised with her power most." Athena stood up, raised her hands, and annabeth started to glow with a grey light that seemed to seep into her, her eyes also changed to glow a brighter grey before they faded back to normal.
"Prove the worth of that blessing, for no blessing is minor, especially when used with wisdom." Athena intoned as she returned to her throne.
"Yes, Lady Athena, thank you" Annabeth said before returning to the group.
"PERSEUS JACKSON"
"You have done us a favour again, Son of Poseidon." Despite his complementary words, it was said with a tone cold enough to freeze the entire ocean, as I tried to calm myself to avoid fumbling what I would say next, he said "You may ask for what you wish."
Artemis gave me a reassuring look, I took a deep breath, looked down seeing the crescent moon, and said with as much confidence as the rodent I once was "I wish to be a girl." My heart felt like it was sprinting a marathon, but Artemis only showed a smile.
The words jumped from my mouth, it felt like they wrapped around my chest and started to squeeze, wrapping me in a cocoon of anxiety.
"You... what?" Zeus asked, his voice hoarse from shock, when I looked him in the eyes he had a face like I told him a riddle, so did other gods, a few were smiling, mainly Artemis, and some had an even face, and one had a face of unblinking focus, Aphrodite, but only one had a face of hidden disgust. My father.
"I have always ... I asked Artemis but ... I would've asked but Dionysus ... " I didn't know what to say, what to do, tears streaked down my face, I know I'm protected by Artemis, she said she would help, and I know that I want this, that I worked hard for this, so why am I crying.
Zeus raised his hand, I immediately stopped, when he lowered his hand he only asked one question.
"Is this what you want? You are certain about your wish?" His once cold tone, now warm and understanding, it left the world quite, Olympus made no noise, all I heard was the blood rushing through my ears.
"Yes" it came out as a sigh but that was answer enough.
Poseidon stood up, "Percy, what are you talking about?, why are you saying these things?, You never -"
Artemis interrupted him as she stood, "She did, Lord Poseidon" a wave of warmth passed through me when she used my pronouns. "She came to me before I was kidnapped, she asked if I could explain Dionysus' warning and that led to her asking if I could grant her wish, I couldn't without asking for Zeus' permission, so I asked her to join the hunt, however she declined."
The tears streamed down my face, I wiped my face so many times that my face felt raw. Poseidon changed to human size and started moving towards me, but Thalia and Annabeth were suddenly at my side, looking at me with understanding in their eyes as they both wrapped their arms around me.
Thailia let go and stood between me and my father.
"I didn't know they started letting boys into-"
"They didn't, Lord Poseidon." Thalia was standing infront of my father.
"It Is wise not to interrupt me, Thalia Grace" Poseidon said with a voice more violent then Ares could ever be.
"Dad ... don't." Is all I could say between sobs.
"Fine, but I didn't know Artemis let boys into the hunt" he said while looking her in the eyes.
"It has happened before, I have also let people like your daughter join, like Siproites, yet you had no problem then." She said, her tone becoming more impatient and irritated.
"WELL SIPROITES WASN'T MY -" His voice was basically a growl
Artemis moved towards him, each step a threat to my father, "Your daughter has been deemed a maiden in need, and I help maidens in need, I can change the hunters vow and it's gifts to help her in anyway and you can't interfere with my sphere of influence without repercussions, Poseidon." She made her last comment in a tone that showed it was a threat.
Poseidon tried to reply, but Zeus warned "POSEIDON, if you value your throne, use it." His tone was cold as he regarded my father, "Both of you be seated" Zeus warned, only when everyone was silent did he continue, "As king of the gods, it is my choice to accept or deny rewards, and it is my choice that the wish will be granted." My jaw hit the floor, my wish was being granted. Poseidon looked more ready to start a war then Ares, while Artemis and Aphrodite -for who knows why- where beaming with pride and joy.
"Thank you, I... thank you."
"We need no thanks" Hera quickly said, "it is a minor gift to us, you will see that we have granted this before, with almost no issue," She stared daggers at Poseidon, "and we will grant this wish again. As you asked us all, I will take it upon myself to help yo-"
"No you won't, you know it's my turn." Aphrodite finally spoke up with a mischievous look in her eyes. Annabeth immediately took a step forward protectively. Even though she didn't join the hunters, the didn't mean she loved Aphrodite.
After a few seconds of silent battles between Aphrodite and Hera, "If you insist, my schedule is busy enough as it is." As she said that she disappeared in a cloud of peacock feathers.
With that most of the gods left, leaving only Aphrodite, Artemis, Zeus, and ... Poseidon
Aphrodite gave us a smile, "Well, let's go get you some clothes before we do this", She snapped her fingers, and I found myself, Annabeth and Thalia in what I could only guess was a clothes store filled with modern clothes, Aphrodite appeared, smiling more than when Tyson met rainbow.
"Uh- where- are" I stumbled over my words, coming down from the shock of coming out, to all the olympian gods, and having the idea to have them turn me into a girl. Genius idea. I had no idea I was this smart.
Aphrodite gave me a kind smile, "Bit nervous?, don't worry, I decided to take care of you, I'm the goddess of beauty, so I decided to help you with fashion before we change you. I'll let you talk to your friends while I find you some clothes, I have a few ideas that would be cute." I turned bright red as she walked away and disappeared between racks of clothes, then Annabeth and Thalia faced me.
"So ... how you doing?", Thalia said trying her best to not be as awkward as me, she failed.
"Doing... Good, I think" I tried to not think about how strong my heart beat was only moments ago.
"So, how long have you known?" Thailia asked nervously.
"I- kind of um always knew, I just haven't had the words or courage to say it" I answered honestly, as I started picking at my clothes.
"Why?, you're the bravest person I know." Annabeth said genuinely, eyes studying me but still kind. She stared to make her way to some chairs and sat down, as I followed her my legs finally stopped working, luckily Thalia caught me.
"What happened to the strength to lift the sky?" Thalia joked as she helped me to the seats before she took her own.
"Thanks," I said before I answered Annabeth, I took a deep breath to calm myself before I replied, "You remember gabe, and uh ... the stuff he did ... to me and my mom?" They both nodded slowly. I had told them about the horrible things he did before my mom went into her 'temporary art career'. "Well, he Uh... watched TV a lot and ... sometimes people like me would be there, and cause he was a great guy, he said some ... horrible things, so there wasn't anything safe that I could... do, so I ... hid it." I fought back the urge to cry, I teared up but luckily I didn't start crying, it was bad enough with my voice being so shaky.
"Oh gods, I'm so sorry." Annabeth leaned in for a hug, I was happy to finally feel accepted, however Thalia just sat there in silent rage, when she realised that I saw she steadied herself, Gabe should feel glad to be a statue, I don't wanna think of what would happen otherwise.
"Sorry, not big on hugs" Thalia said, obviously trying to keep her voice even.
"Then how come you didn't tell your mom, or teachers?" Annabeth asked
"Well the walls were thin in our apartment so I couldn't really say it there, and I didn't want another problem for mom, so I decided to try and hide it, but for school, Yancy Academy was many things, but accepting wasn't one."
"Fair point" Annabeth replied with a glum tone.
"So when did you decide to tell people?" Thailia said with a concentrated look in her eyes.
"It was some time during the sea of monsters, Circe showed me a mirror that showed me my perfect me, and um ... soon after that Dionysus said to not ask for what I wanted, so I didn't, and it shattered me, I felt like I wasted my chance," I was tearing up remembering what that felt like," later I spoke with Artemis and she gave me the confidence that I needed."
"So that's how you got the mark on your arm?" Thailia said pointing to the blessing that Artemis gave me. Annabeth looked at the mark, not in disgust but definitely concentrated on it.
"Yeah, she gave me a blessing of her protection, and um... claimed me as a maiden in need, since she couldn't do more at the time, so if I need help then she will come."I immediately turned red, calling myself a maiden in need, being a maiden was nice but being in need felt wrong, the last time I was 'in need' was with gabe. It sounds like I'm waiting to be rescued by a hero, and I know that I can save myself if needed.
"Maiden in need?, cute. Lady Jackson." She and Annabeth started smiling when they saw me turn red. "Poseidon owns a kingdom so you're already royalty.", Thalia snickered as she said "Dam, how many chariots do you have?"
Thalia and Annabeth kept bouncing jokes back to each other. Every time I turned red or fumbled my words Thalia laughed harder, until she was howling, "As long as I don't need to kiss a frog." I mumbled, and with that they were both wheezing, with Thalia on the floor, Annabeth folded in half. Thalia laughed harder every time she tried to get her composure back. "Bark for breath, you ok?" I asked with a smile spreading across Annabeth's and my face.
She finally got control of her laughter, still chuckling to herself as she sat back down, "Gods, fish sticks, you're hilarious."
I rolled my eyes, but Annabeth looked serious again, "Have you thought of any new names for yourself?"
like the genius I am, I never thought of a name. What would I name myself - and what would I tell everyone else? The campers? My school? Mom?, wait, name first, this is possible, right?
I thought about it and decided I would copy my mother, "How many women in ancient Greece had good lives?"
They exchanged looks before looking deep in thought, not a good sign. I didn't know much about myths, but I knew that most heroes didn't have good lives, and that even less women tended to have good lives.
"Um,  there are some, but most don't. Like Atlanta, she was strong, great hunter, she was with some of the strongest hero's, like Heracles and Jason. It would fit you well and she also had a connection to Artemis." She shrugged and went back into thought.
"How about strength?" Thalia reasoned, "Like Myrina, brave, strong, good leader, similar to you." I blushed being thought to have such great qualities.
"I don't mind being named after someone strong, what did she do?"
"She was a queen of the Amazon's, she lead an army against the Atlantians, she won against others as well, like a group called the gorgons ..."
"... like medusa?"
"No, they were more similar to the Amazon's, just the same name." Annabeth jumped in.
"She did more than that." Aphrodite interrupted, and we all turned in surprise to see her.
"Aphrodite, what do you mean?" Annabeth asked in suprise, probably not sure what to say, just like me and Thalia.
"While she did conquer places and won wars, she also made peace with the Egyptians, with the ruler at the time."
"Who was the ruler at the time?" Annabeth seemed amazed and intrigued.
"... Doesn't matter, the point is that she was smart enough to find peace."
"Why haven't we heard much about her?" Annabeth seemed mystified but a bit annoyed, and I couldn't blame her.
Aphrodite rolled her eyes, "Sadly many women in history have been forgot about or lied about by historians, especially by the people like Ovid," She spat his name out like it was acid, "Some guy he was, anyways, Myrina was strong, brave, and knew to make peace. She was also similar to Perseus by defeating a sea monster to save a princess."
"That's... amazing, I don't think I'm worthy of a name like that." I can't even imagine being like that.
"Nonsense, but if you are looking for name suggestions, I would suggest Andromeda, links to Perseus, beautiful, and lived an okay life."
Thalia shook her head, "No offense, but i don't think it fits her, some people have described you as attractive -their words not mine," as Thalia said that Annabeth turned bright red and looked away, "but you went up against me, I don't think you need to be rescued."
"Sure, you are strong, don't get me wrong, but is that all you want to be known for, you could give Andromeda a different meaning, one of strength and beauty?" Aphrodite asked almost solemnly.
"I have to think about it, but I'm not sure yet, maybe Andromeda as a middle name to show homage to what my mom called me."
"Okay, just let me know soon, and I need to know if you want to wear a jeans or a skirt?"
It took my brain a few moments to realise she was talking, and looking, to me, "Jeans, it's cold outside and I want to take it slow for now, I'm going to wait a few days or weeks first before I wear a skirt."
Aphrodite stifled a smile, "You could wear tights, but jeans will work. I have a few tops that would look cute. Do you know the different washes of denim?"
"Grey, stone, light, dark, black, white, acid, medium, and coloured." I answered fast enough to catch Thalia and Annabeth off guard, while Aphrodite only smiled.
"Gods, I didn't know you actually had a working memory." Thalia cracked a smile.
"I knew you looked after your appearance more than most, but i didn't  expect ... " Annabeth's mouth hung open, "That."
Aphrodite beamed with excitement, "You have to start spending time with my kids, they will love you, trust me, promise to spend time with them, they will adore you!, so what wash of denim do you like?"
"Normally grey or stone, they go well with many different colours of tops and shoes, and since I mostly wear sneakers I think stone would work best." I smiled confidently as Annabeth and Thalia stared at me dumbfounded, while Aphrodite was lighting up the room with a smile before she disappeared into the racks of clothes again.
"First a working memory, and now being able to think, you are full of surprises." Thalia said with a growing smile. "Tell me if you want to get into punk style clothes as well." She said, still smiling.
"Totally, I'm going to be experimenting with loads of different styles so if you have any hand me downs I will happily take it." I said blushing a bit as they both looked at me.
"Hand me downs?, you think I'm letting the princess of porpoises have hand me downs?" Thalia said as her smile grew, "First of all, I don't want to get smote by Aphrodite, second of all you deserve more than just hand me downs, I plan on being there for your first clothes shopping, especially if it's my expertise."
"Th-Thanks, I honestly don't know what to say."
"Gods, you are such a girl." Annabeth sighed, I blushed for the 700th time today while being both embarrassed and happy.
"Yeah, I um guess... Thanks, but back to names." I played with my shirt, still trying to be normal -or as normal as I can be.
I thought about it, These were some of the strongest women in ancient greece.
Atlanta, she was skilled and connected to Artemis, Myrina, She was strong, smart and a good leader, and Andromeda, Beautiful and a connection to what my mom called me.
It was a lot to think about, but I made a decision.
"I like all the names, but I like... Myrina the most, I'm going to use one of the others as a middle name, but I really love the name Myrina." I felt nervous when I said that, like I was introducing someone else and myself at the same time.
"Myrina." Thalia said in thought, "Myrina. It suits you, I'm glad I can speak to you with your name."
As she said it, my doubts faded, it felt warm, like the first time I had ambrosia.
"So how does it feel to have a name that fits?" Annabeth asked with a gleam in her eye.
"It feels... right, I don't know how to describe it, just warm."
"I'm glad, and let us know if anyone tries messing with you, we'll teach them some manners." As she said that, her eyes gleamed like when she killed a monster, and Thalia had lightning flicker between her fingers, I feel sorry for anyone that says anything hurtful, actually I don't.
"Thanks, both of you." I smiled as I thought of my name, not the act I have to play, but my real name.
Aphrodite came back, looking excited, she was in her sphere of influence, and I was excited as well but still nervous.
"Here's the clothes!" She said in an exited tone as she placed the stone washed jeans, a plain white T-shirt, a slightly larger cream sweater, and a pair of red vans, "Time for the part you waited for, your transformation!"
"Shouldn't I change first?" I asked hesitantly.
"No, I need to measure you, then resize the clothes to fit you, so if you get dressed it won't fit properly, you also need underwear, and by the looks on your friends faces," As she said that I realised that they both haven't stopped grinning for most of our conversation. "they are just as excited to see what you look like as I am."
"Okay then, I'm ready when you are."
"Like most things worth doing, this could be painful." As she snapped her fingers, I felt strange. First I was hot, like my blood was boiling. I felt lightheaded, fighting to stay awake from both pain and fainting. I fought against the pain, to scream out, but it was hard—almost impossibly hard. It felt like every joint was popping; like I was over extending them until they cracked. After a few moments it faded; my body cooled and joints relaxed; the light-headedness faded; and I felt like myself but also different, with how much I flinched from the pain, I nearly fell off the chair.
"I really out did myself this time." Aphrodite said cheerfully.
I groaned softly as I tried to deal with everything that just happened.
The first thing I noticed was my voice, it was higher and softer, even that little groan sounded more feminine, I'll admit that I didn't have a gruff or deep voice before bit still I definitely sounded like a girl now.
The second is that I was shorter, only a few inches but it was strange that everything was slightly taller and seemed more out off reach.
The third, my clothes just didn't fit, my T-shirt was baggy, my shoes were obviously oversized, and when I tried to readjust myself, my pants slipped, I caught it but still.
Forth, my hair was longer, normally it was wild but still didn't touch much of my neck or forehead, now I felt it roll over my shoulders, I felt how much weight was suddenly added, not much but still noticeable.
"You were short before but dam." Thalia said in shock, and I laughed, it sounded completely different, and more real then before.
Then I noticed everything about me, my frame was smaller, before I wasn't bumping into doors(too often) but I was definitely smaller.
My hands were smaller as well, they seemed delicate or dainty, and my arms both seemed shorter and less muscular, they were still defined but definitely lost mass, and the mark was still there.
"If you would be so kind, Miss Jackson needs her measurements taken, so Annabeth and Thalia please give us some privacy, I am sure she will appreciate it as much as the compliments." Aphrodite said cheerfully, still pleased with herself.
Annabeth and Thalia left, leaving behind encouraging words and smiles as they went to find a room, leaving me alone with Aphrodite.
"Myrina -love the name, by the way- it's time to take measurements and that means you need to strip, I don't want this to be long, so no complaints."
I nodded while trying not to blush. I failed. I stood up while holding up my pants, I took a deep breath, and dropped them. I hesitantly grabbed the hem of my shirt and froze.
I never liked looking at my body before and thought that seeing a body I like for the first time should be more private.
"Myrina, I know it's a lot but we have to get this done, just one minute is all I need." She spoke in an assuring voice
"Yeah... okay." I lifted my shirt and tried to not look down at the body I wasn't ready to see. I dropped it to the floor and took a step out of the pants.
"Okay, I'm just going to take a few measurements and then it's done." Aphrodite's voice was calming, I felt the tape measure wrap around my body in several places, around and under my breasts, hips, butt, and shoulders. She then measured the length of my arms and legs.
When it was done, my eyes opened as she snapped her fingers and she handed me my clothes.
"Put these on and I'll meet you with the other girls."
As she left, I sat down to change; still feeling jumpy after everything. She gave me some simple black underwear and bra, the stone washed jeans, a plain white T-shirt, a cream sweater, and red vans. A pretty outfit. Everything fit perfectly, and only the panties and bra took getting used to; as well as feeling slightly embarrassing.
As I pulled my hair from under my clothes I felt that same warmness I felt many times during the day; something that feels so much better than any amount of ambrosia.
After everything felt comfortable, I breathed a sigh of relief, "I'm ready!"
I watched as Aphrodite came back and gradually smiled as she saw how I looked.
"You look amazing, honestly you made it easy with how pretty you are." Aphrodite said sincerely.
"Th-Thanks, you really helped, but where are Annabeth and Thalia?" I was feeling nervous after being separate from them for so long on a hard day.
"I still haven't finished helping you, so I asked them to wait outside until we're ready, I can call them in if you want." She said with some pain in her voice.
"No, if it's okay with you I want to look my best before seeing them." I started to feel excited, I want to show them my best after they helped me so much.
"Of course it's okay, there's only one last step, your hairstyle, have you thought of anything yet?, It's kind of long, but if you know anything cute I can do it for you."
I looked in a mirror, and realised just how long it was, it reached close to my hips, I thought about it and it was too long to really be convenient everyday.
"How about this... shorten it to above half my torso, and then make it into a shag with bangs, the layers and volume will help frame the face, what do you think?" As she smiled I knew that I made the right decision, she snapped her fingers and a few inches of hair disappeared as I felt my hair change position.
"Honestly, I don't get why Athena thinks you dumb, you are a genius, I can't forgive you for hiding such talent." She smiled and I felt warm.
Even with all the compliments, a thought never left my mind, all the help I have got today from friends and gods, but I haven't even told my mom yet; I have to change that soon.
"Thanks, Aphrodite." I smiled getting used to how much my voice changed.
"You ready to show them?" She asked
I nodded, my heart raced with excitement as I saw them come back.
As they saw me they froze.
"Wow! You look amazing! Can't believe how well it suits you, Myrina. Good work, Aphrodite." She seemed hesitant about the goddess, but happy to see how I looked.
"It was no work at all, she's so pretty that she didn't even really need my help after the transformation." Aphrodite said like she was bragging.
Annabeth walked towards me with a smile and hugged me for a few seconds. I was so much shorter that I wasn't fully over her shoulder. "She's right." she whispered in my ear as she pulled away.
"Thanks, all of you. I don't know what I would've done without all of you help." I wiped away the happy tears, not being able to stop smiling.
"We just have one stop before I take you home. Artemis will want to see you, so I promised to bring you to Olympus, but barnacle beard might be there; will you be okay?" She asked, clearly worried for me. And to be honest, I don't know if I'll be okay, but I want to try to be.
"If I have all of you, then I know I will be." She snapped her fingers and we were back on Olympus.

Because this idea has been living in my head rent free, imagine:
Even though Medea did some fucked up things by killing her own children to spite Argonaut!Jason, she had a point when she said this to Piper in The Lost Hero, even if she was trying to make an excuse:
"It's true, I'm Medea. But I'm so misunderstood. Oh, Piper, my dear, you don't know what it was like for women in the old days. We had no power, no leverage. Often we couldn't even choose our own husbands. But I was different. I chose my own destiny by becoming a sorceress. Is that so wrong?"
Even in The Titan's Curse, Dionysus brings up Medea as one of the people/women screwed over by heroes.
So just imagine if Drew, another skilled charmspeaker from a cabin ridiculed for their girlyness and feminine interests, was the one to meet Medea since she also knows what it's like to have a loved one who betrayed you and is remembered as a hero after they died, even though they caused a lot of suffering beforehand.
Drew comes down on Medea for murdering her children and taking her vengeance out on the people of Corinth, but then she shows empathy for Medea, acknowledging how even though she helped Argonaut!Jason with what would have been impossible quest without her aid, he abandoned her and even Hera, his patron, got upset with him for this. Drew doesn't gloss over how Aphrodite made her fall in love Argonaut!Jason, even though she's her daughter, and says that if she hadn't done that, Medea could've lived a happier life of her choosing with the power she acquired as a sorceress had she not been manipulated by the gods for the sake of their chosen hero. Drew's doing to Medea what her cabin mates refused to do to Silena: Recognize her pain and suffering as a result of being manipulated, but refusing to ignore the pain she caused for others.
And Medea, a master charmspeaker, can tell Drew's not bullshitting her and feels genuine empathy for her while still holding her accountable for her actions, even criticizing her own mother and the gods and acknowledging the roles they played in ruining her life. Medea may even realize that serving Gaea would just be letting another higher being manipulate her again. She doesn't become an ally to the heroes, but she won't serve Gaea any longer. - 💄 anon
shit i think im crying give me a second. just okay, WOW!
"Drew's doing to Medea what her cabin mates refused to do to Silena: Recognize her pain and suffering as a result of being manipulated, but refusing to ignore the pain she caused for others." was a one-hit K.O to my heart.
the idea of drew going on the quest itself is PEAK in my humble opinion, but this carries it into the next level, Drew using this to right wrongs. And the Silena parallel!!!!!!! Ohhhh Drew deserved so much more because yeah! She's kinda uniquely equipped to see someone's hurt and how much suffering they're causing because of it and put her foot down, to be the voice of reason and say "I know you are hurting a lot right now, but you cannot use that to drag others down with you."
It's like she's reaching deep inside that person, finding the piece of beauty and waving it in front of their face saying; "This is still in you, you still have it, why do you want to rip it from everyone else!"
Just god, DREW she just GETS IT!

My thought was that the Solangelo conflict was going to be uh. Rooted in philosophy. Sounds kind of stupid but: Will, a son of Apollo, always knows his place and acts as the voice of reason. Nico, who's been taken under Dionysus' wing, is extremely emotional and ruled by feeling. They also happen to coincide with a philosophical duality called, respectively, Apollonian and Dionysian. It comes from Apollo being the god of knowledge and rational thinking, and Dionysus being the god of irrationality and ecstasy. The idea is that the former adheres to logic and restraint while the latter is primarily influenced by passion and instinct. Separate ideas, but often entwined. I thought the fight was going to be Will thinking that Nico was too caught up in his emotions over what happened to Bob, while Nico thinks Will is being too clinical.
I don’t think that would have been a good idea. the whole “emotional one vs voice of reason” is kind of a trope in m/m media that stems from women being seen as more emotional and men being the voice of reason, and then forcing these “feminine” and “masculine” roles on relationships with two men. men look down on women and infantilize women for being too emotional, and that trend is carried over into m/m media where one man is smaller, weaker, and more emotional, while the other is larger, stronger, and more logical. Nico has already been infantilized a lot in canon and in fanon (this is something that I’ve talked about in the past). there are a variety of reasons for that (the biggest ones that come to mind are him being disabled and gay). if the story had played into the trope of “emotional one vs logical one,” it could have made that worse. the idea of something being kinda philosophy-based is interesting, but practically, I don’t think that would have been well-executed.
