what is bollywood trying to do making AND promoting films like 'animal' and 'kabir singh'?????

they are clearly promoting toxic masculinity and violence which is affecting the public sooooo much......and they got the nerve to defend it as well????!!!!!

there are sooooo many films now which promote violence......ranbir kapoor is an excellent actor, yet it's sad to see his most successful film was 'animal' and not 'barfi' which is actually touching.....you know why?? because this is exactly what people want to see, violence, uncontrolled rage and madness......

the uneducated section of the society is very influenced by this and this is pretty well known, then why make films like this???

why not make more films on moving topics THAT ACTUALLY FUCKING MATTER and cause people to change their mentality????

people are much more affected by movies than by books, especially in our country, where sadly, a large population still does not have access to books and education.....what's worse is that learned and educated people also don't actually fucking care and promote this kind of bullshit......

These movies often include things like sex, violence, and negative portrayals of women which have been popular for a long time. Unfortunately people have gotten used to these kinds of movies and directors care more about making money than about the impact their movies have on society however not all directors are like this. Some directors want to make movies that show women in a positive way It's important to support these directors and their movies so that we can have more respectful and inclusive films. But people don't give much attention to good movies if we create good marketing of good movies and make their good scenes go viral on the internet maybe it's possible that more people will watch good movies This way directors will also realize that people's preferences are changing

They reinforce harmful gender norms, normalize abusive behavior and contribute to the marginalization of women. Additionally they can influence audience perceptions and attitudes shaping societal beliefs and behaviors. Why Male Directors Make Such Kind Of Movies?

Male dominated industry : The Indian film industry is largely controlled by men. This means that the stories being told are often filtered through a male lens and women are frequently portrayed in one dimensional or stereotypical ways.

Audience demand: There's a perception that a large section of the audience prefers these kinds of films. Masala movies with over the top action romance and violence have long been a staple of Bollywood and filmmakers may be reluctant to deviate from this formula for fear of losing box office revenue.

Societal factors: Sexism and misogyny are deeply ingrained in Indian society nd this is reflected in the films that are produced. Films often mirror and reinforce existing social prejudices making it difficult to break the cycle

Even if you receive negative feedback you know what your job is - make everyone around you aware of this issue. Don't let these movies be normalized which people have modernized.

Despite having absolutely delightful creatures and using practical effects, The Lair is landing a solid 5/10 for me. Creatures and effects can’t save this one. That’s largely because it suffers from one of the worst mixed-message cases I’ve seen in a while.

The whole cast, except one, are members of various militaries who have ended up stationed in a remote area of Afghanistan. That other one is Kabir, a local man who has, through bad luck and being at the wrong place at the wrong time, ended up joining a local group fighting the Americans. He doesn’t want to be there, so he’s willing to retreat when the monsters first appear. As a result, he’s the only one to survive that first attack. And he’s also the most interesting, compelling character in the whole damn movie.

Because he lives in the area, Kabir has a direct emotional connection to the plot. His father, who fought the Soviet Union when it invaded Afghanistan, was lost while hunting the alien monsters lurking in the titular Lair. People he knew were the ones attacked by the monsters and used by the Soviets in the experiments with the aliens. He has a reason to go into the Lair—to find out what’s happened and, if he can, to avenge his father.

It gives him a sense of groundedness that’s missing in the rest of the characters. Besides being generally flat and motive-less, more like cardboard cutouts than anything else, they’re narratively troubling. They’re all…vigilantes, destructive invaders just like the Soviets before them. Their reason to be here is to destroy (or control) the monsters. Even dressing things up in somewhat heroic trappings, the movie can’t hide that.

“They’re foreign creatures,” says one of the characters about the monsters. A second asks, “What do you mean, are they French?” It’s clearly a joke, but it doesn’t land as very funny in this context. Foreign is a word with multiple meanings here. Aliens from space, yes, but also aliens from Europe. From the perspective of the people living in this region, the soldiers aren’t all that different from the monsters.

Down in the Lair, the scope of the disaster that befell the people who live here becomes clear. Looking at the devastation, Kabir quietly reminds the soldiers—and the viewers—that the only real victims of all the violence are his people. Although the character is focused on the alien monsters at hand, the moment itself is a reminder of an issue of much larger scope, with much more awful real-world consequences.

Part of me thinks that the writers/producers/directors were aiming to show this message the whole time. Kabir is just too crisply written with too much nuance for this to be a mistake. But they really, I think, blew it. They got hung up on trying to make the Americans and Europeans openly heroic. It’s got the vibe of “a band of ragtag heroes,” but all of them are people who wear the uniforms of invading armies. That’s not terribly ragtag! And, when push came to shove, they still fell back on making “insurgents” into just another horde to be shot down by “the good guys.”

In the end, it didn’t work. Maybe it would have worked if I were several miles to the right on the political spectrum, and willing to pretend context doesn’t exist, but I’m not. I had no reason to root for anyone but Kabir, so the stakes felt really low. Any chance of tension caused by genuinely fearsome monsters was taken away, so I started to zone out. The raging inaccuracies in costumes and military protocol just made me grumpy. I was intensely uncomfortable with the racial stereotypes applied to the two black characters. (Seriously, I feel like there’s an issue with making crime an integral part of only those characters.) As the movie tried to have it both ways with its mixed message, it drained away my investment.

All in all, 5/10. Watch for the creatures if you’re really feeling passionate about practical effects and want to see some fun and gory ones. But don’t watch if you’re looking for just about anything else.

Sorbon Yunoev, a 60-year-old apple farmer in Tajikistan’s Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, opened a juice business several years ago after completing several courses organized by the German government aid agency. 

He dreamed of providing all of Tajikistan with natural, preservative-free juices. Juice, Yunoev said, solved a problem: By his own calculations, about 60 tons of apples spoil every year in the valleys around Roshtkala and Khorog, the GBAO capital. 

Working with only a hand-press, he dreamed of earning enough to buy his fledgling firm, Sharbati Pomir (Pamir Juice), automated machines to turn more of those apples into juice.

But Yunoev could not participate in a government-organized forum connecting entrepreneurs with foreign investors this week: Pamir Invest-2022 on August 17 and 18 in Khorog. He was arrested two months ago on suspicion of membership in a banned organization. He faces up to 12 years in prison.

After unrest in May left dozens dead, most apparently at the hands of government forces, authorities unleashed a dragnet, arresting hundreds of community leaders, cultural figures and activists – and sometimes their family members. [...]

Around 300 Pamiris have been arrested since November, when GBAO saw the revival of protest moods among autonomy-minded residents of the region. Many have faced charges ranging from extremism to terrorism and seeking to overthrow the government through violence and membership in radical groups.[...]

On August 17, for example, activist Maksud Gayosov, who left Khorog after the November protests, was detained in Moscow, Radio Ozodi [Tajik branch of RFE/RL, US State Media] reported. Relatives expect that the Russian authorities will soon extradite him to Tajikistan, as they have many others. Organized by the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, the Pamir Invest forum was first held in 2011. The annual event is designed to drum up business in the GBAO, an impoverished region even by Tajik standards[...]

This year was the first time the forum was celebrated on such a large scale and with international bigwigs in attendance.

The GBAO government reported that within the framework of the forum, contracts worth one billion somoni ($100 million) were signed, though details were scarce.

Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection Imomnazar Imomzoda was quoted in state media as describing the forum as aimed at creating local jobs. He said a shoe manufacturing plant will open soon.

This sudden top-down effort to sooth tempers is being stage managed by a man close to Tajikistan’s [...] leader: Sherali Kabir, a GBAO native, who rose up through the ranks of management at the Talco aluminum plant, the largest industrial concern in Tajikistan and a cash cow for the president’s family. As chairman of the board of directors, he was considered the right-hand man of Hasan Asadullozoda, the president’s brother-in-law. 

In 2020, [president] Rahmon made Kabir minister of industry and innovative technologies; this summer he charged him with overseeing GBAO’s development. 

Kabir has a proven record opening businesses in GBAO – indeed, he has created enough jobs in his native Darvoz that visitors notice far more local men about, as compared to the rest of Tajikistan where roughly half of working-age males are abroad. 

But like his work at Talco, the new concerns are shrouded in secrecy. He often appears alongside the president at events with Chinese investors.[...]

The summer, the government has methodically squeezed entities controlled by the Aga Khan, the Europe-based philanthropist deemed by the Shia Ismailis of the country’s eastern Pamirs region to be a spiritual leader.  

Last week, the authorities nationalized the Khorog Park, which was founded and controlled by the Aga Khan Foundation. 

Sharofat Mamadambarova, the former head of a national group representing Tajik Ismailis and a long-time leader with the Aga Khan Foundation, told Radio Ozodi [Tajik branch of RFE/RL, US State Media] in an interview that she had been interrogated by the State Committee for National Security on August 13-14. The KGB successor agency was seeking information about the Aga Khan Foundation’s activities in the country, she said.

The Aga Khan Foundation runs a school and a university in Khorog and supports classes in Dushanbe. The group’s summer camp was cancelled this year. Parents and students are anxiously waiting to see if the schools will reopen in September.

★ Vijayendra Prasad on Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 with Salman Khan: 'Story takes 10 year leap"!

Salman Khan's iconic 2015 blockbuster, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, directed by Kabir Khan has completed 7 years of its release today. The story was penned by KV Vijayendra Prasad, who is presently working on the sequel of this cult classic. In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, the ace filmmaker, known for films like Eega, Bahubali franchise, RRR among many more, confirmed that the basic idea of Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 is locked. "I have narrated the story outline to Bhai and he has loved it. Now the ball is in his court to decide on timelines," says Prasad.

The writer confirms that the sequel would be a continuation of the first part.  "Yes, the story takes a 8 to 10 year leap in Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2. I am hopeful that the sequel will be no lesser than the first part," he smiles. The sequel is titled Pawan Putra Bhaijaan. Very few know that the ace director, SS Rajamouli, had once expressed his will to direct Bajrangi Bhaijaan. But things didn't really materialize back in the day. "Before I was about to commit the story to Salman Bhai, I narrated it to my son and tears started rolling from his eyes. I asked if I should keep the story for him, but he asked me to give it away. Once the film was released, he came to me and said 'Papa, you asked me at the wrong time. I was shooting the climax of Bahubali 1 and it was  a gittery situation then. Had you asked me 10 days before or later, I would have directed the film'," he adds.

Vijayendra Prasad informs that the germ of Bajrangi Bhaijaan came from a Telugu film, Pasivadi Pranam, fronted by Chiranjeevi. "I love that film. On seeing it, one of my associates said, let's make  a film where the danger comes from Pakistan and let's make our hero a Bajrangi Bhakt. Then the story was about our hero going to Pakistan, and then bashing them. We got a winner in hand. But my mind was not agreeing to it. We wanted to do something beyond bashing Pakistan. The intention was to make a film that doesn't increase the animosity between the two countries but decreases it," he shares.

Vijayendra Prasad signs off sharing a small trivia about casting for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. He says, "I didn't have anyone in mind while writing the story.. And then, Salman Bhai heard the story and instantly came on board." Meanwhile, Salman is currently shooting for Bhaijaan, which is gearing up for a December 30 release. He also has Tiger 3 up for release during the Eid 2023 weekend. Salman is in talks for No Entry 2, Dabangg 4 and some films with filmmakers from the South under Mythri Productions.

Lyricist Raj Shekhar narrates the interesting tale about how he came on board his favourite actor Ranbir Kapoor's Animal.

The music of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal is also a reason for its enormous success. The song ‘Pehle Bhi Main’, picturized on Ranbir Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, is one of the most popular tracks from the album, which is written by Raj Shekhar. In an exclusive video interview with Bollywood Hungama, he revealed the interesting tale on how he got to write lyrics for a film starring his most favourite Ranbir Kapoor.

“My journey for the film Animal happened through him (the singer and composer of the film Vishal Mishra). I am a very big deewana of Ranbir Kapoor. His films used to come. I used to put my music on his visuals from Rockstar, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and others to see how it would feel when my song would play for Ranbir. My close friends know this.”

Raj Shekhar revealed how Animal happened saying, “I had told some directors and music directors that if there is any film with RK, I will be in it by default. I love Manoj bhai and Vishal’s song ‘Kaise Hua’ in Kabir Singh. So, Vishal wanted me to meet someone, but I was showing hesitancy because it was at night. Then I finally went. There was Sandeep (Reddy Vanga) sir there, but I didn’t know that they are making Animal and who is starring in it.”

A tune was played in front of Raj Shekhar, and he was told to write a song. When he asked what the deadline is, he was told there is no deadline. “I really liked this,” said Raj Shekhar. “For the first time, someone said that there is no deadline. Then I casually asked who the actor in this project is. I was told it is Ranbir Kapoor. I asked if the talks are on or (is he already cast). They said they have already shot for some days.”

Raj Shekhar then came back and said that he had written quite a few stanzas for the song, but the makers wanted only one. But after reading them, Vanga decided to use two stanzas.

Raj Shekhar was, obviously, delighted to have got a chance to write lyrics for Ranbir’s film. To this, Manoj Muntashir joked, “He (Raj Shekhar) can give competition to Alia (Bhatt) when it comes to loving Ranbir. He will make her feel insecure.”

Thoughts on the recent Animal teaser

NB: This is my PERSONAL OPINION. PERSONAL. This applies only to me. Not saying anyone else should think this way.

The way Ranbir Kapoor's character reacted when Rashmika's character mentioned his character's father, scared me. I could still tolerate Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh coz tbh I didn't know much about the director or the actors' opinions on the relationship portrayed in the films. The characters were unrealistic, stupid and crazy enough that I could watch the films as wild obsession story of two toxic characters wo would rather burn each other away from the heat of their destructive passion then choose a better path. There is a charm in that kind of movie. But the actors calling this relationship as "true love"?? VD saying that hitting/slapping each other in a relationship is acceptable?? Defending and glorifying all the toxicity shown in the films in interviews instead of being like: it's story that makes sense for these two particular characters, and should not be seen as a realistic love story??? I would have happily found that justification as fair. I watch a lot of fucked films. I have watched and loved disturbing, and violent stories. I will say it rn, I still like Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh as films and I think SRV is talented as a director. But I no longer feel interested in "Animal". It has just ruined the fun for me.

Yes the cast and crew are talented af. They are really good artists and the film will surely be a hit. But I no longer feel like enjoying this work of theirs.

★ Kabir Khan On Salman Khan's Tiger 3: 'We Never Thought of Spy Universe But...' !

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s Tiger 3, which is set to release this Diwali, is one of the most awaited films of the year. The highly anticipated actioner also stars Katrina Kaif in a key role along with Emraan Hashmi who will be seen playing the antagonist in the Maneesh Sharma directorial.

Fans of Bollywood’s Bhaijaan have been eagerly waiting for the third installment in the Tiger franchise for six years and they will soon get to witness it all on the big screen. But ahead of the release, keeping the tradition, Yash Raj Films is set to drop the trailer of Tiger 3. The much-awaited trailer will be unveiled today (October 16) at noon.

Ahead of the trailer launch, News18 Showsha spoke to filmmaker Kabir Khan, who directed the first movie Ek Tha Tiger (2012) in an exclusive interaction where he said he was super excited for Tiger 3.

“There is always a sense of being a part of the endeavour as I created Tiger (the character) with Ek Tha Tiger (2012) so there is a special connection with this franchise. It’s been more than a decade and I have been super proud of it. Tiger 3 is releasing soon and despite it not being my film, I am still super nervous (smiles) as I am really curious to know what the story will be all about. I am waiting for it to release and I plan to see it only on the big screen cheering and whistling with the audience. Yash Raj Films is like home for me and I am keeping my fingers crossed and wishing all the success to the entire team,” Khan said.

The director says that while shooting for Ek Tha Tiger, there were no plans of coming up with a spy universe, “We always had the idea of making this film into a franchise but we never thought of spy universe. I don’t know about Adi because he is a visionary filmmaker and likes to keep his cards close to his chest so maybe he must have some idea (laughs), but we never discussed it as such. I also feel that the whole ‘universe’ concept started only a few years back that too in Hollywood so I don’t think the concept existed when we were shooting the film. But I am excited for the YRF Spyverse and it’s a good thing as long as the audiences are enjoying it. Both Tiger and Zoya’s character (played by Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif respectively are iconic now.”

After the massive success of War and Pathaan, fans are excited about what will come next especially as it links both the films with the Tiger franchise. Many fan theories want a spin-off of many characters including Kaif’s Zoya. Ask Khan about it and he says, “It’s a very interesting concept and a great idea. Zoya is one of the most fascinating characters and I hope someone picks up the character and has a good backstory and we can see Katrina headlining the film on an adventure of her own. I hope Adi takes it forward.”
