Quick question;

So, I see alot of people talking about how Mal owes so and so an apology (not disputing that) or how Leah owes the vks an apology (Also valid). I even see people saying that the adults owe the kids an apology (Frick yes). But you know what I NEVER see that I'm kinda disappointed about?

No one ever apologizes to Chad. Like, I get Evie and the other vks not apologizing to him because he can be a jerk to him. But how come Audrey never apologized to him? Like, I know he's hated by most of the Fandom. I know that.

But Audrey definitely should have apologized for that. Anyone else I can get not apologizing, even if I don't necessarily agree with it. BUT AUDREY?Audrey definitely owes that boy an apology? Wanna know why?

Look at this;

Like... did she NEVER SPECIFY that they weren't dating or did she just assume he knew? Because this is a disaster and she should have apologized/sat him down and had a conversation when she realized that he thought that it was real. Because we didn't see that conversation occur in any of the movies. And even if she didn't mean to, leading someone on is horrible and should never be done. So she definitely should have expressly told him that none of the relationship was real very early on.

But I will cut her some slack for this because she's a teenage girl since I do the same for Mal and Uma. But one thing I WILL NOT cut her slack for is THIS;

Look at this man. No, this KID. He isn't even 20 yet. The Fandom hates him. Most people hate him. Is that a bit justified even though it's the writers' fault for not staying consistent with his character and not even bothering to try and improve him? Yes. But does that mean he deserved to be betrayed in one of the absolute worst ways by one of his only friends? By the girl he loves?

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

He is an 18-19 year old kid. Kids make bad decisions. Kids make mistakes. Kids can be assholes. Teen boys can be sexist (I more than anything blame Auardon for that became of that stupid book's phrasing.. because that happens in real life and I'm not 100% sure if that can actually be considered sexist when he was just following the rules. Even if I hate the fricking rules). He's a prime example of that. But he can also be a pretty okay guy at times (he literally went out of his way to pick up his ex right before a big event that he wasted money on. Remember? He tried to protect Leah even though he was an asshole in that movement to everyone but Audrey and Her. He did end up apologizing to Jay for pushing him. He buys Evie's stuff even though he could go elsewhere) and he most certainly didn't deserve this from AUDREY.

Like, if anyone else did this to him, I wouldn't be as hung up about it. Even if what happened to him was absolutely horrible (locking anyone in a closet is not funny at all) I wouldn't be hung up on it if Mal or Uma or another kid did it.

But the fact that it was Audrey is what gets me. Because think about it. Who is the one person who NEVER turned their back on or abandoned her? Who is the one person who would do absolutely anything for her? The one person who has done almost everything if not everything she has asked of them? Chad.

Chad sided with her about the vks everytime. He listened to her complaints about them when her own boyfriend wouldn't. He went along with dating her when it was clear that all he wa to her was a consolation prize. He defended her grandmother when the woman made a scene just because HE THOUGHT that there MIGHT be a chance of danger. This is Chad who is usually shown as cowardly we're talking about.

He briefly turned evil for her. The thing he hated most. He went out of his way to pick her up when her car had broken down even though he had literally payed for a couple of expensive outfits for the event he would be missing to pick her up already. And so much more.

Yet how did she treat him? And don't go saying that it was because of the sceptor because even if it was, it doesn't excuse the way she treated him enough to where she can get away with not apologizing.

Because she yelled at him constantly. She intimidated him with magic. She belittled him and blamed him for things that weren't his fault (I.e her plans going wrong) and she locked him in a fricking closet when she probably knew that he was claustrophobic. And we didn't see her apologize.

If we're gonna continue looking for apologies on behalf of the characters, then I want it to be fair. I want Leah (and Chad and Audrey) to apologize for how they treated the vks. I want Mal and the other three to apologize for spelling Ben to Ben and to Audrey since Audrey was humiliated and heartbroken and since Ben was made a fool of and made to look like a dick. I want Beast and Belle and all that agreed to the isle's creation to apologize for not taking the kids off and the horrible condition it was in.

I want Uma to apologize for kidnapping Ben. I want everyone who should apologize for what they did to apologize. And I want Chad's closest friend and ex to apologize for what she did because even if the Fandom and many in universe characters hate him, she doesn't. A good friend apologizes when they fuck up. Especially if it's this bad and I don't see any reason why Audrey should be exempt from that. Because she should want to apologize even if she was possessed by the sceptor. Because she severely mistreated the one person who always stood by her side and if she's as nice of a character as Melissa de la Cruz originally intended then she should.

Please descendants. Even if no one else gets their long overdue apologies, let Audrey apologize to Chad. I know you hate him. I do. But this is just atrocious and cruel. You're beating a dead horse at this point. You take every chance you have to beat him down and make him the butt of the joke even though it's not very funny anymore. Please. Just let him get an apology.

They’ve been through a lot together, but the gods work in strange ways. Audrey and Chad had a lot of growing up to do after the events of D3, but I imagine they become the soulmates they were always meant to be in the end.

Uma answers the phone, and it's the standard "We have your boyfriend!" ransom call.

For a second she just stands there with a thoughtful look, like she's doing mental math. "Uh-huh..."

"Now, if you ever want to see him again-"

"No, shut up for a second, I'm tryna think."

"You...What?"

She thinks for another second and then gives up. "Alright, you're gonna have to tell me who you have. If it was Ben, you'd have said you have the king; if it was Harry or Gil, I'd be impressed..."

"It's not me!" Gil calls out helpfully from another room. "And Jay's sitting on my lap."

"And it's not Jay," she adds. "So, who'd you catch?"

The voice on the other end of the phone grunts in annoyance. "You know, the blond guy."

"The blond guy's here; that's what I just said."

"No, the-! Cinderella's son. I forget his name; he hasn't been on the news in a while." There's an offended noise, ostensibly from a gagged prince of Cinderellasburg who didn't appreciate the comment on his diminishing spotlight.

"Oh my gods," Uma groans. "You got Chad? He's not even my boyfriend; he's my girlfriend's boyfriend. Did he say he's my boyfriend?"

"He said we should think twice about holding him for ransom because the queen of the sea was going to destroy us."

"Well, yeah, but only because it's the cool thing to do." Uma is putting on her sword belt and jacket at this point. "I mean, Audrey would be pissed if I just let him be kidnapped. Is there a reason you called me? He told you I'd destroy you, and you thought 'I have an idea, let's call her?' How'd you even get my number?"

"Listen closely! We took him because we thought the royals of Cinderellasburg would pay a hefty price for his return. But now that we know he's valuable to the queen of the sea as well, we'd like to make a deal. If you sink the ships of our enemies, we'll return the prince to you with all his fingers."

"Dude, I don't even know who your enemies are. Do you have nautical coordinates?"

"There are five ships we'd like you to sink. I'm sending you the first set of coordinates now, and if the ship is not destroyed within the hour, the prince loses two fingers."

"Got it," Uma muses, glancing across the room at Carlos, who gives her a thumbs up.

"And before you think about attacking us, you should know we're landlocked!"

"Yeah, for sure. I hear you." She's putting eyeliner on in the mirror.

"The first ship, now! When you're done, we'll send the next coordinates."

"Great, yeah. Okay."

The phone hangs up.

"That was long enough to get his location, right?" she asks over her shoulder.

"Yep, we got him," Carlos answers. He's in bed, but he pulled his laptop onto his lap as soon as the matter of hostages was mentioned.

"Cool. Guess I'll go get Chad and...I don't know, kill that guy?"

"No killing. Remedial Goodness."

"Oh, like the crown isn't responsible for-...Whatever. I'll just break his knees."

Another thumbs up. Jane, sitting next to Carlos, looks slightly bewildered, but she hops up to grab Uma's hat for her as she heads out the door.

Carlos was never really able to abandon Cruella. He carries her colours in his clothes, her marks. He doesn't understand why. Carlos doesn’t understand why every time Evie sews him a new jacket, he feels compelled to paint those damned Dalmatian spots against the white leather.

Nor does he understand why he must obsessively keep the same colour palette when dressing. He just knows he has to. It's familiar. Feels like home.

Carlos is still wary of dogs; Dude is the only exception.

One time, in winter, while strolling around Auradon, he saw a girl walking a beautiful golden retriever. He doesn’t know where the thought came from, but he did think, “That fur would make a very nice and warm shawl.” He immediately lowered his head and walked back to his dorm quietly.

The thoughts are always there, though. Sometimes he feels like he is in his fur closet, trapped, and hurting from a beating his mother gave him.

Sometimes he feels like he is in the streets again, jumping on rooftops and stepping on clean laundry with his muddy boots.

Sometimes he craves it. He doesn't want to go back, obviously, but he misses the routine, the familiarity of it all. He will deny it until he dies, but he misses home just like Mal does.

He still has the Isle in his mind, constantly. He thinks about the fun he used to have there. Carlos remembers stealing candies, apples, scarves... He remembers the thrill he felt. Life is not like this anymore. Life is different in Auradon.

At moments, he is disgusted. The colourful clothes, the bright blue sky... He goes out, anyway, and puts on the best smile he has.

On one particular family day, Carlos could barely believe his eyes. Across the field, the stupid Dalmatians were licking some food off a plate that was offered to them by none other than Anita Radcliffe, the mutt keeper. Carlos sank his nails into his sweaty palms. The voices were stronger than ever: "Skin it!" "Make a coat!" "Spots! Spots! Oh, such beautiful spots!"

Carlos couldn't trust himself to come near the dogs that evening.

When his eyes crossed with Anita and Roger, they were afraid. Of what? Him? He chuckled to himself; it did feel kinda nice... but Carlos does not allow himself to savour fear anymore, not like he used to.

Chad Charming made a fuss with Ben when they were training one day. One of their teammates fell and got badly hurt. Chad swears that he saw Carlos laughing under his helmet. Ben shrugged it off, saying, "Carlos is a good kid; he would never." Charming was not convinced.

What can he say? He's just an Isle kid, anyway. And he chose good! It's not like Carlos has ONE evil bone in his body... right?

You know what, this is funny to me.

I think the casting did think it was cool to bring Brandy and Paolo back to play Cinderella and Charming (I actually made a post about that to be funny and well, alright then...) from the 1997 version of Cinderella and I know some of us was confused about Chad's status even before the casting because they decided to bring in a daughter for this fourth Descendants movie.

With that, I'm sure it was questioned if Chad is adopted or not because...

Yeah...

But this is where it's unintentionally funny.

Does anyone remember who played the King and Queen in 1997?

It amazes me how many people say they can't believe Chad ended up the way he did with Cinderella as his mom. Really? Because I can see easily how it happened.

Now, this isn't to say Cinderella purposely made Chad this way, but I do believe the way she chose to parent or some of the choices she made or didn't make as a parent did affect the way he came out. This also isn't to excuse Chad of his decisions he is still his own person with the ability to think for himself.

Now it is made clear to us as the audience that Chad is extremely spoiled as are most of the Audron kids mainly because their parents were trying to better their childhoods than what they had. Cinderella, who had everything taken from her and was forced to become a servant, probably wanted to give her children everything and make sure they wanted nothing. This plus Chad automatically being born with more privileges than his mother because of Cinderella's current station created a sense of entitlement in Chad. This entitlement led to Chad acting the way he does.

Now, this isn't to say Cinderella didn't try to put some morals in her kid because I believe she tried. She can't make Chad accept those morals, though, and depending on choices Cinderella chose to make may affect how Chad absorbed those lessons. I also do question how often Cinderella was there during Chad's childhood because let's remember she is the queen to Charming's kingdom. How much was she really there for, and how much was it the nannies? And getting back to the topic of Chad being his own person, how much does he switch up if he's in front of his parents? Kids switch how they act around different people all the time. I would not be surprised if we get a completely different Chad if you put him in front of Cinderella vs. the one we see around his peers.

I do kinda like the irony though that even if she didn't mean to Cinderella ended up raising a kid similar to her stepsisters and Dizzie her niece is similar to her. The Descendants universe often shows us that things are not so black and white. The heroes aren't perfect and we even see it with how their kids turned out due to their parenting or lack of parenting.

Chaudrey Friendship headcanons;

Summary; my headcanons about Chad Charming and Audrey Rose's friendship requested by my dear friend @cleverqueenchild .

Audrey dyes her hair pink exactly one time after the events of descendants 3.

She dyes it back less than a month later after noticing how Chad would flinch when she moved too quickly when her hair was pink.

Chad can't stand pink hair after the events of descendants 3. It freaks him out.

His claustrophobia have worsened after it as well, much to Audrey's guilt.

They've known eachother since they were babies.

They were tutored by the same tutors growing up and knowing that they were expected to rule once their parents stepped down as the royalers of their kingdoms, which can put alot of stress on a kid.

They have a ton of inside jokes between the two of them.

After the hair don't situation in wicked world, Chad tried to cheer Audrey up by telling her that the hair do wasn't that bad and that it actually looked pretty nice.

She didn't believe him but appreciated the sentiment.

Both of them are neat freaks and obsessed with looking their best-- which was drilled into them by Leah and the harsh critics that are the paparazzi.

When Audrey was learning how to apply make up, she used Chad as a practice dummy. She still does occasionally.

They use to sword fight together when they were kids and occasionally they'll sneak out to do so in the present.

They are both forced to do community service and into therapy after the events of d3. For once, niether of them complain.

They are one another's best friend and confidante. They tell things they wouldn't tell anybody else.

Audrey was the one who straightened Chad's hair for the first time and the one who introduced him to hair spray and hair gel. He's been obsessed with the two things ever since.

Audrey was the one who first encouraged Chad to try out for Tourney and the Swords and shields team-- thinking and hoping that it would give him a confidence boost and make him less jealous of others. It only partly worked.

When one is in trouble, the other doesn't hesitate to answer the call. Which is one of the many reasons that they're closer to eachother over their other friends.

Leah doesn't like Chad. The feeling is not mutual because he is desperate for her approval, especially after his beloved grandfather's death.

Leah always stressed how important it was was Audrey that she marry a prince, which is why Chad ended up becoming a back up for her in case things didn't work out with Ben.

Chad wasn't upset when he found out that they weren't actually dating and when he found out that Audrey didn't return his feelings. No really he wasn't. At least that's what he tells himself.

Chad's feelings for Audrey is just one of the many, many reasons he grew to resent Ben despite the fact that he was one of his closest friends.

Audrey didn't realize this until well after d3 and it just adds to the growing mountain of things she feels guilty about.

When confronted about the whole situation with Chad by Jane of all people, a stunned and slightly hurt (but understanding ) Audrey insisted that she didn't know how he felt about her at the time and that if she had, she never would have fake dated him.

It's one of the many, many things they talk about in therapy.

They make sure the other eats when they get overworked or upset. They both like pumpkin lattes.

The two of them have large social media followings and often collab with one another.

They grew codependent on one another when they realized they were drifting apart from the large majority of their friends prior to d1 and no one really noticed- noticed until after the events of Queen of mean when they realized that it was driving Chad insane when Audrey was avoiding him out of gulit for what she did.

Their friendship is alot healthier when they're older.

They learned how to play the piano together.

They were the first numbers in eachothers' first phones.

They have eachother listed as the other's emergency contact when they are both single.

They compliment eachother alot and usually have to talk down the other from doing anything too crazy. Which doesn't always work. But hey at least they try, am I right?

They never forgot the others' birthday and always try to be there or at least have a small gift when the day comes up.

They use to joke and dream about running away together when they were kids.

It always went like this; they'd run as far and fast as they could until they found a place far enough away from all the responsibilities and pressure and name calling and find a nice cottage to live in until they found their true loves. Chad would become a model like he always wanted and Audrey would become a professional ice skater and they'd travel the world until they found what they were looking for.

They obviously never got to but they both still remember those late night talks and just how well they had planned everything out. They had even picked out a color for the drapes.

When one of them can't sleep, they'll spend hours on the phone talking to one another until they can. This mainly comes from Audrey's fear that she won't wake up if she does go to sleep.

Chad never once complains though.

Chad always avoided small spaces growing up haunted by the stories of what his mother went through and one particularly horrible game of hide out seek.

Audrey helped him by usually getting whatever he needed from said spaces for him.

He grew out of it /claimed he did but in reality just toughed it out once they got to highschool.

And coincidentally, after the whole Audrey turning evil thing, his extreme avoidance of small spaces has returned. Which is totally coincidental. No he will not elaborate.

Chad gets a pretty standard “old money aesthetic” look with just enough modern influence to keep things interesting. The leather coat in particular adds something slick and a little sporty but overall it’s a simple clean & classic look.

Golden Hour

It was a private ceremony, just the two of them. In the bleeding rays of a dying afternoon, they stood together as one. With Jane as their fairy godmother (magic and all), the marriage was sealed. No one else knew—no one else needed to know—as this moment was only theirs.
