Large Studios: We're removing all these popular movies and tv shows from our streaming services because it's costing us too much money paying their writers. They will never be seen again.
Also Large Studios: STOP PIRATING OUR PROPERTIES!! YOU'RE COSTING US A FORTUNE!!

Friendly reminder that even if the Percy Jackson teaser looks amazing and it talks to our inner child and ofc we have all the right in the world to like it, we shouldn't forget about the wga strike. I don't wanna ruin the party, on the contrary.I'm SO excited for the show…. but its good to also remember what its happening on the real world.
This is just a reminder. Both excitement for the show and concern for the real people can coexist. Don't forget about neither…
EDIT: a person rebbloged this post with important information about why at least for now we shouldnt consider pracy if we want to help the strike. Go check it out.

Streamers straight up lying to SAG AFTRA during negotiations that the 3 seasons of 10 episodes standard they've made is what WE, THE AUDIENCE, WANT. Not the truth: that profit sharing with producers and creators starts at season 4. That 10 episodes allows for more money per episode for visual effects and extravagant sets.
We're being encouraged as the audience to shout back at the streamers on social media that we want longer seasons and more of them. That 3 seasons of 10 episodes is not enough and the constant cancellation is WHY we cancel subscriptions.
So go shout at the streamers on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, threads, whatever.
Video via templeofgeek on Twitter (I'm not calling it that other name).

What I don't get about the password-sharing fiasco is....if it was the olden days and you rented a couple DVD/VHS movies, until you brought them back to the shop you could do whatever with them.
You could give them to other people to watch. You could show a movie to a group of ten friends. You had already paid for the tapes, so who was going to care what you did with them in that time?
Similarly, if you have already paid for a Netflix/Max/Dianey+/Paramount+/whatever subscription, you're getting charged monthly for that. The companies have already decided how much it is worth to rent their entire catalogue to you for a month.
So during your "rental period" for these movies and shows, who are they to say what you do with them? If you have someone over for Netflix and chill, they aren't part of your household, so should they not be able to watch a movie you are renting? If you want your friends to see something cool, who cares if they live a town away? That movie is still being paid for, and your "rental" will renew the following month when you pay your bill.
It feels like going to a video store, paying for a bunch of movies, then having to march back to the store with the friend who's going to watch them with you so they can also pay for the movies......while you're still renting them.

I know everyone's talking about all the horrible HBO MAX decisions, but can we also talk about Disney removing Avatar, a movie that's over a decade old, from their streaming service because they're re-releasing it in theaters? Because, wow, that's bad too

so just to be clear Tumblr is now trying to be twitter unironically. Twitter is being held hostage by a narcissistic billionaire who is trying to rebrand itself as an incel haven. TikTok is... I don't even want to know tbh that app is about as close to a black mirror episode as we've ever gotten irl. Deviant Art supports AI. Adobe supports AI. Imprnt currently won't pay it's artists. Redbubble pays artists practically nothing. All streaming services won't pay their writers and actors shit but hey let's start putting ads in the middle of whatever show you're watching even though you already pay a fee for the service. InstagramFacebookThreads doesn't bear mentioning, they're all spammy and horrible.
The state of the internet in 2023 is truly abominable. Hoard your media while you can folks it's not getting any better from here on out

⚠️ SCAM WARNING FOR DISNEY+ USERS ⚠️
just went to log in to Disney+ on desktop for the first time, googled 'disney plus' (because i'm old like that) and nearly got caught in a scam so PLEASE READ THIS AND STAY SAFE OUT THERE!
right now when you google 'disney plus' the FIRST RESULT (which is also a SPONSERED result) looks like the legit website but IT IS A SCAM. here's what you will see:
Tumblr media
^ that result and ALL of its links lead to a scam website. if you click you may be fooled, as i almost was. this is what you will see:
Tumblr media
^ looks like a legit login window BUT LOOK AT THE URL!
Tumblr media
^ THAT IS SCAMMER URL NONSENSE. real urls don't have all that shit, as you will see. but if you put your login and click Next, here's what you will see:
Tumblr media
^ it asks for your password. now, i did this with my actually account but afterwards i checked and you can do it with a fake email and fake password because none of this info actually matters they just want you to click this Next so you will reach the scammer page which is:
Tumblr media
^ ⚠️ NO LEGIT SUBSCRIPTION WEBSITE ASKS YOU TO LOGIN THEN IMMEDIATELY ASKS YOU TO CONFIRM YOUR PAYMENT DETAILS. THIS SHIT IS A SCAM. ⚠️
Back out of the site and return to the google search results, scroll down to the SECOND search result, which is the REAL one, and this is what you will see:
Tumblr media
^ THESE are the real links.
Tumblr media
^ THIS is what the real log-in landing page looks like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ THIS is the real log-in page. NOTE HOW SIMILAR IT IS TO THE SCAMMER PAGE but also note the differences: the REAL site has extra info and links in the footer, but more importantly the URL is simple and not stuffed with scammer nonsense.
For this to be happening with Disney is BAD - they're a huge company and don't want this kind of bad shit happening to their customers or for their name to be fucked with.
but also: WTF GOOGLE?? the FIRST search result - a SPONSERED result - is a SCAM on one of the biggest streaming services out there. GEt YOUR SHIT TOGETHER GOOGLE.
and everyone please stay safe! spread the word! add info if this is happening to other streaming services too!

YOOOO! HazbinHotel Trailer just Drop!😱 Spoilers Along with the Release date of Season 1 and 2! Let Us know your Opinion about it!😆
Some things we know:
Amazon Prime is the streaming service that took it up Season 1 will be released in January 2024
It's going to get a season 2
The voice actors still haven't been announced for some reason? The trailer has no dialogue on top of that. We see Lucifer, a lot of Alastor and Vox fighting, the weird demon-looking angel Adam, a meeting of Hell overlords discussing the angel threats, and Sir Pentious is part of the gang now. That's about it? The trailer's music reminds me of a Disney movie for kids. There are a lot of Tinkerbell chime noises and jazzy upbeat music which I don't think is fitting for what the show is trying to go for as a teen-to-adult plot regarding demons from Hell being murdered and dealing with abuse. (They have "Guess what, bitches?" on a text screen in the trailer too) So first impression is extreme overcrowding. List of characters that appear in the trailer alone: Charlie Alastor Vaggie Angel Dust Husker Niffty Sir Pentious Lucifer Lilith Vox Velvet Adam Rosie and we all know Cherri Bomb and Valentino are gonna show up too. These are way too many characters to introduce or juggle in an 8 episode season. There is no possible way to give our main characters enough screen time, focus, or development to make them meaningful protagonists. They either have to rush plots or drop character arcs to squeeze things into 8 episodes.

In the era of streaming, it feels like all of these streaming companies are just throwing darts at random at a dartboard and hoping some stick instead of actually aiming for a bullseye.
What I mean by that is shows don't get a chance to find their footing because they're cancelled as the streaming companies spread their money too thin.
A great example of this is how I met your father on Hulu which just got cancelled. The first season wasn't great but they really found their footing in the second season and I think it could have been a really successful sitcom in its own right in the long run. I'm going to draw comparisons with the US Office, which was basically a carbon copy of the UK Office in its first season but then found its footing in the second season. If it was made now I have no doubt it would be cancelled after the second season and would never have been given the chance to become as popular as it did. This is what streaming companies don't understand. You have to give a few shows a chance to breathe rather than funding hundreds and then giving none of them a shot to get past two seasons.
