Encanto was on Japanese TV!!!

Guess what???

Encanto exploded in its popularity among Japanese Disney fans!

This happened as Japan's most famous TV movie block, "Friday Roadshow". (known for airing Ghibli films on Japan's broadcast TV among others) They honored Disney 100 by asking viewers what Disney films viewers wanted broadcast on the block and guess what they chose?? Encanto!!!! Or in Japanese, it's ミラベルと魔法だらけの家 or Mirabel and The House Full Of Magic.

Unfortunately, according to someone I follow on IG, Encanto was not very popular in 2022 in Japan when the rest of the world talked about Bruno. But now since it aired on free to air television there, who knows it may become huge now in Japan! Actually some Japanese encanto fans said that the movies popularity spiked after the TV broadcast of the film.

Broke: Bruno is gay and that’s why the family got rid of him. It’s a metaphor

Woke: The real metaphor isn’t the dismissal from the family (although that is a valid argument) but it’s actually how they treated him. Spreading bad rumours, making the younger kids scared of him (I.e. Camilo) whereas in reality he’s the sweetest man possible and isn’t anything to be fearful of. Especially considering that Abuela (the older less accepting generation) was the one to ‘banish’ him from the family, demonising him (gay people) as something to be avoided.

aww thank you so much!! and ooh this is interesting ask! I never get questions about alma and pedro but I think it would be fun to explore them!

some of these are inspired from “tale of three sisters” encanto book! I highly recommend it!!

pedro is confirmed to be a writer so I feel like he would write poetry and stories for alma or inspired by her!!

Alma snorts when she laughs!! and pedro finds it really cute!

Pedro taught her to sew and then she passed it down to her kids!

Pedro is dramatic!! he’s very theatrical in nature! (we can see where madrigals get that from)

I feel like alma was always someone who was community orientated! her and pedro probably got lots of help as a young couple from the village! and they would return the favor!

Pedro is a really good cook! and alma is a really good dancer!

both of them learned to play an instrument! (don’t know what but I think them as musicians is fun!)

pedro would talk to the babies as they were growing inside alma all the time! like full on conversation! “your mama is real stressed right now could you calm down on the kicking”

Pedro always wanted to be a dad!

he’s also a really bad snorer but alma loves him too much to say that!

Pedro is impatient! he can get annoyed easily whilst alma is more patient!
