Let's make a rainbow hat 🌈

I've knitted this fantastic (if I may say so myself!) rainbow pride hat for my friend @wuselwesen. They are making me something else in exchange for it - we're doing a neat private crafty swap!! :D

[id]Picture 1: a knitted swatch of what was supposed to be 10cm of knit, but turned out too small and thus I had to adjust the whole pattern! Picture 2: Too many rows of green knitted, before I realised I've started the rim of the hat wrong...[/id]

I was good enough to do a swatch this time (as you always should, but aren't we all guilty of skipping swatches??) but completely misunderstood how to start the rim of the hat.. You're supposed to knit it on the round, not sew together at the end (which I thought first). Lots of frogging!!

Picture 4: The green rim of the hat has been knitted (correctly on the round this time!) and the rainbow begins, with purple, blue, green and now a row of yellow![/id]

I had to make sure the hat would be big enough, as I was modifying the pattern (my yarn was not as thick as the yarn the pattern used), so I tried it on for size halfway through.

Picture 6: It's time for the rounds of reductions at the black top of the hat! I didn't have enough stitch markers, so I made some out of dark orange/reddish yarn (just some knotted loops). All the various stitch markers look very busy, but also cheerful.

Picture 7: The (almost) finished black rainbow hat! The black body of the hat forms a kind of bulb shape (like from a flower) and the rim is knitted in rainbow colours. The green part of the rim has been foldd to the inside, it's meant for reinforcement.[/id]

The hat is only almost finished in the picture because I still have to sew in all the ends and sew the inner green rim part down!

my DOD FX59 Thrash Master got here today. pictures can’t convey just how pink it is.

I wanted to take a look at the circuit, and when I did I realized how easy swapping the status LED would be, and how desperately it was begging for a pink LED instead of a dim red one. So I did!

A quick A/B between the Crock and DOD and they don’t sound the same. maybe I’ll record the differences sometime.

Had the VERY brief thought of oooh what if Henry he/it pronouns user but like. I cannot imagine Henry giving a shit about gender at all actually. You tell him you're trans and he's like "Ha! That's weird!" but in a completely nonjudgmental way he has just genuinely never thought about that before. Fixed my boyfriend's hairdryer by changing the fuse in the plug and he's over the moon and it saved a perfectly fine hairdryer from going to landfill

Sneak peek at my 98 LGT's Euro headlight swap, waiting on bulbs and they need some cleaning.

This 2 piece version of headlights is unique because they are glass (like GC8 crystal) but are basically the JDM zenki version, same wiring and bulb setup. They also have motors attached to the up/down because there would've been a switch on the dash just like the GC8 to manually adjust height. Made by Koito in Japan. I can't remove the motors and can't find the proper relaying/wiring to use the switch I have. You can still adjust them from the back manually like the horizontal.

The corner lights are my custom blacked out Euro version made by Depo because I didn't want to break the OEM/JDM clear/chrome version. There should be a post showing how I did it.

I was very fortunate to score these hard as fuck to find, and must have, OEM clear acrylic covers! They are made specifically for these glass headlights and I wouldn't run these lights without. Turns out the GTS covers that fit the US and JDM lights do NOT fit these glass lights.

A little bit heavier setup but I won't be paranoid about smashing them like the Morette lights. Plus this is actually more aerodynamic. And I can now remove the passenger side corner light to allow air directly into my intake inlet behind that light.

These are THE clearest headlights! I'm tired of trying to keep +20yr old plastic from getting foggy, lol.

**For those of you wanting a setup like this try searching the UK/Euro Ebay vs US. They are definitely available and cheaper than "JDM". You can also find these corner lights that don't have the orange reflectors and those fender lights. 🍻

Nähkromanten* advent calendar swap exchange 2023!

*that's a wordplay from our sewing forum that really only works well in German. I assume you now what a necromancer is. It involves black magic... "Nekromant" or the plural "Nekromanten" is the German word for it. We're a sewing community though (well crafts community really, but it all started with sewing) and sewing = nähen in German. Thus, Nähkromanten. Some weird folk practicing sewing magic!

I decided to store the advent calendar in the amazing spiral shelf I have in my living room. For that I had to condense the usual decor a bit for that purpose. The calendar looks so pretty & festive in the shelf now!

!! I'm happy I thought about that place for it. Present number 3 of the calendar is big & flat, so it didn't really fit onto the shelf and I stuck it onto a bag (held by a cardigan I need to mend) close to the shelf. Works for me!
