Tucking the rolled yoga mat under your arm, you readjusted your stance, and stared out the window of the studio. Butterflies nosedived in your abdomen, making it nearly impossible to stand still. You took a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth, trying to remember the small tricks Hao had given you to calm yourself down. It was awfully ironic that you were using them now, when he was the reason that you needed to find peace.

It wasn't that you were panicked at the thought of your first date, just anxious about all of the ways it could go wrong. Hao was thoroughly invested in both meditation and fitness, so suggesting a yoga class seemed like the perfect way to marry two of his interests. You weren't sure if he had ever been before, but you assumed it would be something he was good at.

You on the other hand? Maybe not so much.

"I knew I should have paid extra for the baby goats," you muttered, running a hand through your hair. At least if you had done goat yoga, you could play off any mistakes as excitement for being around so many small and furry things.

You checked the time on your phone again before worrying your lip. Only a few minutes until class started and you still hadn't seen Minghao coming from either end of the street. Just as you were about to shoot him a text, you saw his thin frame bobbing down the sidewalk.

Putting on your best smile, you moved toward the door and opened it as he strolled in. Grinning at you in return, he pulled you into a quick hug before letting go. "Sorry I was late, the guys-"

"It's okay," you nodded, immediately wanting to absolve him of any worry. He looked great today (but then again, when did he not?) Dressed in a simple tank top and sweatpants, it was difficult to even maintain focus. He was just that beautiful.

"Jeonghan slept in," he chuckled. "And it started this whole chain reaction of things going wrong. Everyone should be right behind me though."

"Everyone?" you croaked, furrowing your brows. Surely, he didn't mean...

The small bell above the entryway chimed as familiar voices began to flood the small space. You blinked up at Minghao, trying to tamper down the shock flooding your system. "I-I didn't reserve their spots."

"What?" Hao asked, now his turn to grow confused as his friends began to filter in. Their small talk was equivalent to a roar as you felt your body growing hot with embarrassment.

Coming to a stop beside you, Mingyu draped a long arm around your neck. "Heeey."

DK shuffled over as well, trying to assess the looks on both you and Hao's faces. "Y/N?"

"I...I thought today was going to be just us," you admitted, feeling foolish. You couldn't even chance a glance toward the two other men who had inserted themselves in your conversation. It was mortifying.

Minghao's eyes grew wide as he looked from you and then back to all the members.

DK let out a nervous laugh as he patted Hao across the back. "I don't think I've ever seen anyone screw something up that fast before."

"We can leave," Mingyu blurted, unwinding himself from your body.

"No, no," you said quickly, shaking your head. Plastering on what positivity you could, you began to nod instead. "Let me double check and make sure there's enough spots for everyone."

Wandering over to the counter you had checked in at, you could feel your face grow flush before you even started speaking. "Sorry, um...the class that's about to start? You wouldn't happen to have twelve additional spots, would you?"

The girl behind the counter blanched before taking a moment to respond. "I could look?"

"Thank you," you said quietly, glancing over your shoulder. You couldn't help but feel awkward as you watched several of the members surround Minghao, shoving him in the shoulders as the pointed vehemently toward you. Just great, now they all knew you had expected this to be a date.

"Actually," the studio receptionist hummed, getting your attention again. "It looks like we have another class starting in a few minutes that has room for you all. Do you want me to switch you over to that one?"

"Sure, that would be great," you sighed in relief. Placing your elbows on the counter, you dropped your face into your hands and tried to focus on your breathing again.

"Okay," the girl continued. "That's going to be ₩621,981.50."

Lifting your face, you tried not to cringe. While that wasn't the largest amount of money you had ever spent, it was still more than you had expected to pay today.

"I got it," Hao said quietly as his body joined yours at the counter. Looking up, you found him avoiding eye contact and gnawing at the skin on the side of his thumb.

"No, really," you tried, trying to salvage any chance at normality. "I invited you guys out here, let me pay."

"No, Y/N," he asserted. "You invited me. Then I was the one who went and fumbled the situation. Badly."

Sliding his card across the counter, he moved to face you. Leaning against the edge of the tabletop, he looked at you directly. "I'm sorry."

"Don't be," you grimaced. It was hard to meet his eyes. "I should have told you I expected it...that I wanted it to be..."

"A date?" he finished, lifting a brow.

"A date," you repeated numbly. How horrifying was it that you had to admit it out loud?

After a moment of silence, Hao cleared his throat. "It can still be a date."

"You don't have to humor me," you groaned, still avoiding eye contact.

"Y/N," he murmured. "Please look at me."

Moodily acquiescing, your eyes found his.

"If I had realized this was meant to be something special for just the two of us," he said slowly. "You know I would have been more than okay with that, right?"

"I just thought..."

"Looking back, you did everything right," he said, nodding encouragingly. "I was the one who obviously thought there was no universe in which you would actually want to go on a date with me."

"What?"

"I'm weird, Y/N," he chuckled. "Good looking, but weird."

"Hao," you choked out on a laugh. "At least you're self-aware?"

Breaking into a wide smile, he reached up to rub his hand along your arm. "I'll make this up to you. I promise."

Inhaling deeply, you gave a short nod. It was hard to maintain your cool when he finally set the record straight. He did want to go on a date, he just didn't realize that you had wanted that as well.

Bringing you into his side for a quick hug, his hands lingered on your lower back when you pulled away again. Cutting your eyes toward him, you tried not to spontaneously combust as he licked his lips.

"Sir?" the girl behind the counter asked, waving Hao's card in the air. "You can move to Studio 3 now."

"Oh my god, it's fucking goats," Vernon called over his shoulder, stumbling into the room first.

Minghao looked toward you, an alarmed expression clear on his face.

"They're babies!" Dino gasped, surging forward to cuddle one of the small goats roaming the room.

"What happens if they poop?" Seungkwan muttered, side eying the members closest to him. "Specifically, on us?"

"A little goat poop never hurt anyone," Seungcheol chuckled, somehow already holding a goat and allowing it to lick his chin.

"Did you originally book us for this?" Minghao whispered, his breath hot on your ear.

Trying to ignore the shiver caused by his proximity, you shrugged. "Nope, I didn't spring for goat yoga...but apparently you did."

"Perfect," he muttered, shaking his head in disbelief. "I did not foresee any of the events today coming to fruition."

Sliding his fingers between yours, he gave them a small squeeze. Motioning to the room with his free hand, he grimaced. "Thank you for dealing with...all of this."

You looked out at the boys who had joined you today, settling themselves on their chosen yoga mats. Their wide smiles and laughter were enough to turn your mood from disappointment to something significantly warmer. Seeing them this happy made your heart feel like it could burst.

"While both the goats and the guys were a surprise," you nodded. "It's definitely become a welcome one."

"Oh?" Hao smirked. "Sooo I don't have to make it up to you after all?"

"Now I never said that," you giggled.

"Fine," he said, giving a dramatic eye roll. "I guess I was looking forward to making it up to you anyway."

"This is the best date I've ever been on," DK cried. Laying on his back and covered by baby goats, you thought he would simply explode from happiness.

"More like the best day of my life!" Jun chimed from beside him, a goat chewing lazily on the ends of his hair.

"At least you made them happy," Minghao chuckled, pushing his shoulder into yours. After what was an extremely interesting session, you had both ended up on the same yoga mat, leaning against each other as you watched the interactions around you.

Petting absent-mindedly at the small goat that had settled into your lap, you smiled at him. "And I didn't make you happy?"

"Of course, you did," he smiled. "You're really good at it too." Bending toward you, he pressed a light kiss to your temple.

"Don't kiss our date!" Jeonghan gasped, pointing an accusing finger at Minghao. "If you kiss Y/N, we all kiss Y/N!"

Nodding vehemently, Hoshi sprang to his feet as he began to circle the pair of you. This startled the goat you had been holding, causing him to spring away from you and jump roughly onto Dino's stomach.

"I promise you," Minghao said, wrapping his arms protectively around you. "If your lips even get near Y/N, you will fear my wrath."

"Wrath?" Wonwoo chuckled. "Someone needs more goat yoga."

"No more goat yoga," Woozi said definitively from his spot in the corner. "Next time, can't we just...get a meal? Do as the mentally sound people do?"

"That's asking a lot," Joshua grinned, aggressively petting a goat that had taken up residence on Mingyu's chest.

"No next times," Minghao sighed into the top of your head, still not letting you go. "I have a date to take you on first."

"What do you mean?" you teased, looking up at him through your lashes. "This is a date. And honestly, it's going to be hard to top."

The full Donkey Kong Country cast! Except the ones I couldn't be bothered to draw! Let's get on with them. (DK and Candy were in the second batch)

Diddy and Dixie remain mainly the same, though Diddy I based off his movie design solely because I couldn't get the crop top to look right. Still a couple as indicated by their matching nail polish.

Cranky has a vest and sweatpants under the red shawl he has in the movie, while Wrinkly I gave a similar setup but in green and with a sundress. She's still dead in my 'verse, but her ghost appears in this design instead of a nightgown.

Chunky and Kiddy! Since in my 'verse everyone's a little older Kiddy goes from a toddler to a kindergarten/first-grade aged kid, who is still just huge for no reason. Chunky is his big brother around Diddy's age and since the movie portrayed Chunky as having some peach fuzz I gave him a bit of scruff on his chin. He ended up pretty cute I must say!

I'VE ALWAYS HATED TINY KONG'S HAT. IT'S SO UGLY. So I fully removed it from my design lol. I kept the same general idea of her teen design but aged it down just a smidge so you can easily tell Dixie's the older one of the 2, while also making her blonde hair dyed for some extra variety. instead of a crop tank top and sweatpants she has an off-the-shoulders top and a skort for some extra variation.

As for Lanky Kong I leaned into his namesake, and if he looks just a SMIDGE evil that's because I had TheMentok's video on the Kongs in the background as I drew and that might've influenced me just a tad lol.

Funky my beloved! I went full into his original full-surfer design, to get something different since Funky canonically hates going adventuring. I gave him a belly gained from just chilling on the beach most days lol. Also he has hair now! With him I set out to not just make him a clone of DK that wears clothes.

Lastly, King K. Rool and Lord Fredrik! With K.Rool I mixed his regular design with his Super Mario Sluggers design and also gave him a LOOOOOONG tail because crocodile. He wears a cuirass over his chest and gut. As for Fredrik all I did was give him some boots his design was strong enough already.

Now for extra 'verse lore: K.Rool rules Kremling Island, Fredrik rules the nearby Snowmad Island. these two alongside the Kong Isles form the Jungle Archipelago Kingdom. All three nations have beef with each other but since the recent Peace Treaty between the Mushroom and Koopa Kingdoms they've moved to a "cold war" sort of status where no one is openly hostile to one another but they still hate each other lol.

Thoughts after yesterday's dk 🔞

Him wearing a white tank to the gym, you being his gym instructor almost instantly gawk at his guns being out in the open for the first time. As if his sweaty biceps pumping even more during bench presses weren't enough of a distraction for you, to top it off he asks you to help him while he does squats on the Smith after quite a long. Being the thirsty over this one and only student of your, person you were, you happily complied with his request, taking it as an opportunity to tease the shit out of this buff man.

From the very moment he rests his butt on the cushions on the machine, your hand never leaves his, constantly sliding up and down the hard curves, sometimes all the way down to his waist, while your chest presses against the think back of his tank, the cold metal of your rings fizzing up the warm blood running through his popped out veins....following with a train of whimpers and soft moans from dk's pretty little mouth. If the gym wasn't near empty that day, you were sure that others would definitely think why is such a big man moaning from just lifting weights, or why is his teacher all over his sweaty smelly arms.

"Liking it babyboy? Or should we lift a bit more hmm?" your hand shamelessly snaking around his tummy and tugging onto the drawstrings of his grey sweats

Fifteen Mario Characters in My World of Mario Style

I can’t draw Bowser’s face for the life of me, so I always give him a more simplified facial structure. Similarly, his shell only has four BIG spikes instead of a bunch of smaller ones. His long tortoise neck adds to his body language and makes his “sleep-mode size” look more imposing. I added fangs to his lower jaw compared to how I used to draw him, so he looks less like a guy in a costume.

Junior’s more a manner of stylization than an outright redesign, but the massive ponytail was a fun addition.

Kamek has ganglier proportions and pupils visible through his glasses. A slouch both shows his age and emphasizes his shell.

The underside of Toad’s cap is visible to make it more obviously part of his body. Also, you can’t tell in the above image, but I both darkened Toad’s complexion and made it so that the spots on his cap are permanently blue.

Toadette is one of the more drastically different characters in how I portray her, punctuated by a less chibi-esque look and a single ponytail. Note how the front of her cap is scored, making it look more like hair.

Rosalina has a slightly more gothic look about her, complete with the star tattoo on her shoulder. There’s also a lot more soft shapes here.

DK borrows Donkey Kong Junior’s tank top and conjoined eyes since some adaptations essentially merge the two, most recently the movie.

Wario takes the goggles from his WarioWare outfit and tacks them onto his cap. Rings around his eyes become discolored eyelids and his stubby legs become disproportionally gangly ones.

Waluigi would really rather be anywhere else, as evidenced by his preppy tennis outfit. Better posture makes him look even taller than usual.

Birdo, also known by her stage name “Birdetta”, adopts the conical mouth of her earlier designs, slightly mismatched eyes, freckles for extra cuteness points, and a little jacket.

Yoshi looks like a deformed Zbornak with more of a theropod-like build and a longer tail. Also, he’s totally wearing dinosaur slippers.

It’s hard for me to draw Mario’s mouth under his mustache, so it’s parted a little. Drawing his nose a separate circle with a mustache added on makes it easier to break up his face into a manageable design.

Luigi has a drooping mustache, heavy slouch, and oblong eyes, all to make him look as awkward as possible.

Peach’s VERY stylized bangs and ponytail make her easier to draw, while her minimized nose harkens back to the toads that raised her. Not pictured for spacing purposes is her floaty, crowny thing that I don’t draw the other princesses with.

Daisy goes for more of a youthful, androgynous look with more exaggerated facial features. Still cute, though.

Going Seventeen: Wonwoo's Diary

Characters

Haerim as Mu Joe

Oldest member of Seventeen played the youngest resident in the village, seven year old Mu Joe. The name translates to innocence and her character is just like her name, sweet and innocent. Little Joe spends a lot of her time following Fi Turin and Fe Dback around. She looks up to them like grandfathers and they love her like a granddaughter.

Joe wears a pair of overalls with a white blouse. Her hair styled in two braids with flower hair ties at the ends. She also wears a cute straw hat with a blue ribbon around it. The make up artists had painted her upper cheeks with a rosey blush and also added some little freckles. Haerim moved around on her knees wearing knee pads that look like shoes. She also used a pinwheel as a prop, blowing it and watching it spin. When she isn't holding her pinwheel it's sticking out the front pocket of her overalls.

She first appears in the first episode. Fi Turin and Fe Dback encounter her standing alone on the road playing with her pinwheel. They excitedly greet her, commenting on how much she's grown. After some conversation she follows along with them to where they meet Yoon Nieun and Jo Giyeok.

Zora as Kyungmin

Kyungmin played herself. Wonwoo's classmate and friend who follows him, helping him with his documentary.

Wearing a simple school uniform, a white short-sleeve button up shirt (same as Wonwoo's) and black skirt, her hair styled in a ponytail. She also carries around a note book, taking down notes for Wonwoo's documentary.

Kyungmin is always standing with Wonwoo in every scene. The two of them often share amused (or unamused) looks while filming the towns people. Kyungmin, who often had a hard time staying in character, sometimes hides behind Wonwoo or her note book to hide her smile.

Sage as Park Hana

Sage played Hana, a city girl who came to spend the weekend with her family in the town. The name Hana meaning 'number one' or 'favorite,' her character is self centered and believes she is better then everyone else. She is popular at school in the city and hate's that she's forced to go to the countryside to visit family. When she'd much rather be spending her weekend shopping with friends, she's stuck hanging out with her younger cousin Mar Tion, who doesn't want to do anything but look for aliens.

Hana's outfit is simple but trendy. Wearing a cropped tank top with a pair of ripped jeans, her hair styled down with pretty waves. She wears a pair of sunglasses and always has her phone, often seen scrolling on it when bored.

First appearing in the second episode along with Mar Tion. She's seen standing next to him, while he's busy looking up at the sky she's staring down at her phone. When Fi Turin and Fe Dback show up she ignores them until they address her properly. They scold her for being rude to her elders but she only rolls her eyes (she does that a lot in this episode).

Sunnie as an Alien

Sunnie plays an alien alongside Woozi, Dk and Vernon. Her strange habit is speaking backwards when she's nervous, which doesn't happen until Mar Tion comes along and accuses them of being aliens.

She wears the same orange outfit as the others with pink round shades.

Appearing in the second episode, Sunnie sits with the other 'aliens' pealing garlic cloves. She reveals her habit is talking backwards when she's nervous and that she's trying her best to stay calm around humans. When Mar Tion arrives and says he suspects the four of them are aliens she says, "About talking are you what know don't I."

would you ever consider doing video tutorials for knitting? for example i want to learn to knit bust darts (vertical, i'm busty and need more fabric there) but i have not had much luck on youtube. saw one video that showed how to do short row darts but that's not really what i need and even that video wasn't super clear lol. this is not a request for you to do something tedious btw lol i am not trying to pressure you at all, just love your projects and trust your knitting advice ♥️

no lust for video production on the nearish horizon but i can give some illustrated tips for potential next steps for you !! congrats on wanting to try darts, they are one of the most useful things i have figured out how to do. some high level points first:

first, i would say do not dismiss short row darts 😈 i will show you some examples of how i've used them on my projects in an attempt to convince you of this.

second: horizontal darts work so well for me that i have not yet actually worked vertical darts. the premise of vertical darts is using increases and/or decreases to add and remove horizontal inches to the same region.

third! as a busty and somewhat barrel chested broad, who mostly knits zero-to-negative ease, the most consistent fit modification i make is adding extra size under the arms. i'll explain this in my second example.

example A: horizontal bust darts

i learned how to work horizontal bust darts knitting lily kate france's upwards top, which is a fingering weight tank. the extra vertical length, and the angle at which it is formed, create a modest 3d "hill" that adds a little bit of "bonus space" when wrapped around the 3d object of your body.

both the vertical length and the angle can be customized to fit your body. lily kate's formula for fingering weight tops is what i adapted to the dk weight of the love magick using middle school algebra:

pink: total number of stitches from the front section of the upwards top [loose fingering gauge] in my size

green: total number of stitches from the front section of my love magick [loose dk gauge]

blue1; blue2; blue3...: the number of stitches before turning for each dart as given in the upwards top pattern

and of course x1; x2; x3...: the number of stitches i need to work in DK gauge to get the same spacing / angle of darts as i did on the upwards top

the upwards top is not super bra-friendly. i suggest doing what i did and finding a pattern you want to knit that has bust darts built in, and giving it a try!

and to my second high-level point above. i, personally, find the ability to adjust the spacing of horizontal darts more intuitive than vertical ones, and vertical darts aren't as visually appealing in the gauges i typically work in. but sometimes the "bonus space" provided by horizontal darts is not enough to accommodate the extra inches that knitters like you and i need. that brings us to the next modification.

example B: armscye expansion nation

i took these notes after my try-on for my first love magick sweater, which was super tight in the pits and written with an arm circumference that would not work with my body.

notes: - medium fits well through neck and shoulders, but will need much more room in sleeves and arm (med is 2" too short at bicep!!) - Frog back to sleeve separation and add at least 4-6 straight raglan rows - initially added 4 armpit stitches. will up to 6 for attempt #2. - 3 waist shaping decreases in body

my preferred method of adding extra horizontal inches is by casting on [or binding off] extra underarm stitches. in top-down sweaters, this adds size to both the body and the sleeves, which was key for me not only in the love magick but for most sweaters i knit.

in this example, the yellow oval represents the armhole shape as-written for joining a top-down raglan sweater in the round after splitting off sleeves. this pattern asks me to cast on 4 extra stitches for each armpit. what i would do instead is cast on 12. at a fingering weight gauge of ~6 stitches per inch, the math does this:

(my total armpit stitch inches) – (total recommended armpit stitch inches) = (total inches added) (12*2) – (4*2) = 16 stitches 16 stitches / 6 stitches per inch = 2 ⅔" added

if you size sweaters to your high bust measurement [you should], you'd want your (total inches added) to get you closer to your full bust measurement.

you can then use waist shaping to decrease your way back to the prescribed number of stitches. or to a number of stitches that is a better match for your waist size!

the combo of horizontal darts + extra armpit stitches has been great for my chest shape, and i have figured out a more-or-less standard library of mods that i make to most sweaters to make them fit me. you can find that formula, too, but it won't be the same as mine, and you can only find it by experimenting.

oh, and a bonus: if you're also curvy in the lower half, you can use the same Knitting Technology ™ to shape skirts to yourself [check my pinned post, if you haven't!]

Been playing ffxiv, paid to skip HW but really enjoyed stormblood, saw emet-selch for the first time.

I'm very impressed that his first introduction to the player was to be shot and rag dolled down the stairs, it immediately differentiates him from the other ascians who just say ominous and vague nonsense that never amounts to anything. It was almost more sinister, because it really illustrates the point that the ascians are noncorporeal horrors piloting a meat puppet.

Also very minor detail but I noticed even back in stormblood, instead of writing a boring talk quest as "go talk to so-and-so", instead they say "go meet SOMEONE at such-and-such place". Like it's so very minor, but instead of straight up telling me who you're going to meet they just sorta hint and say how excited that person is to see you again.

Mechanically it's the exact same boring quest format, and maybe I don't otherwise even care about that character, but even that tiny bit of speculating who it is and the implication that they have any kind of emotional response AT ALL is already elevating the writing.

I get the majority of quest text boils down to telling the player to go to X or talk to Y or collect Z and there's only so many ways to do that, and clarity of communication is always top priority, but in something long format like an mmo where the player has likely plugged in a hundred hours already you can kinda assume they've been trained to expect a certain order of events and can play with the format a bit.

Also the last duty of sb was one of those "everyone shows up at the big battle as npcs and cheers at you to go on to the big boss while they hold back reinforcements" fights and it's very anime but honestly it always works on me.

Been leveling up dark knight, but I bought the level 80 warrior boost because I hate playing with other people and I wanted to solo a bunch of the main scenario raids instead of queueing. Also I'm playing dark knight because aesthetics, and tanking for a group is too much responsibility for me.

Honestly dk kinda sucks compared to paladin and warrior, way less mitigation and self healing, and though it feels like I'm doing more damage it's still not as much as a pure dps.

Also bought a bunch of clothes on the shop in a moment of weakness, but now my outfit is so cool I don't want to change into anything else! And I kinda miss wearing vanilla gear and seeing your outfit change as you pick up upgrades. Oh well atleast I'm cute and it avoids those awkward moments when a piece from a new set doesn't fit with your current fit.

Ffxiv clothing designs are so gorgeous, even the shitty low-level vanilla garbage is kinda cute. Ppl who buy store stuff obviously look good but I have way more respect for the glamours I see where people just got really creative with in-game items. The graphics are like 10 years out of date but the hair and clothes and faces are still miles better than some of biowares stuff (guys I love you I'm on your side let's figure this out you can't just make everyone bald)

Also I've noticed the cuts scene cameras do a trick anime does a lot to cut down animation costs, the framing and panning and angles do a LOT of the work when they otherwise can't get these limited models to emote that much. Or else they just fully cut away and let a sound effect imply an action took place and your brain just fills in the difference.

Anyway I'm addicted and am probably wasting a lot of time on things I should be doing instead but it's nice to have something to hyper fixate on for a while, and I haven't even started SB or EW and I've heard they're both life changing so maybe I'll just glut myself until I've wrung all the dopamine I can out of it.

Also I've realized there is such a jump in writing quality in SB that I'm only really emotionally attached to lyse and hien and the general, the rest of the scions are all kind of... idk unlikable?? They're all the same kind of snarky but not really funny, and speak intelligently but not really with any character or having much to say. Allisae being maybe the exception but I feel like she doesn't get much screen time compared to her brother.

It was very touching that she's the tough prickly one, but very honestly tells you she feels alone and sadly asks you not to leave her in a moment of vulnerability before the fight where she reaches for your hand desperately before her soul is teleported away. Like damn yeah this is manipulative but you got me! I'm invested now!

Also that little crystal cat boy was in arr and I never finished/paid attention to his quest line so idk how he ended up i SB, guess I'll find out.

Junhui's Swimming Pool Mukbang with Wonwoo, Vernon & Daisy | Bangkok Swimming Pool Water

2 October 2022 - Bangkok

«What's this?» - Daisy asked looking at a table full of food and a camera pointing at Jun, Wonwoo and Vernon. They had 2 hours of free time before rehearsals so they decided to eat lunch at the Hotel's terrace, with a beautiful view. «We're filming a mukbang» - Junhui was the one that spoke both to Daisy and to the camera. «Oh can I join you?» - Daisy was wearing a tank top and shorts so she didn't want to show herself since it could be very revealing that's why she just simply waved to carats. «Yes of course, do you want some? There's noodles and chicken burgers» - He indicates her everything that was on the table, and of course it was very inviting. «Oh you order good stuff» - « It's all mine eheh» - Wonwoo took the plate from Jun's hands as a joke. «Actually me and Minghao already ate at the this exactly same spot like- two years ago?» - Daisy was amazed of how many good memories she had with Minghao all over the world «Are we even surprised?» - Wonwoo teased with a smirk on his lips «But i've never tried this» - She said ready to eat those delicious french fries «Wait let me take a photo first. If you don't take picuteres of the food you didn't eat it» [ of course we need food pictures]

«Oh talking about pictures: you know how Hoshi always posts pictures of the members eating after the concerts?» - Jun asked and everyone nodded «I'm not there. Never. Carats think that I don't eat because of that but hey Carats, look! I do eat!» - Jun took a huge bite of his hamburger in front of the camera. «And me too. I'm not in the picture» - Daisy was checking Hoshi's Instagram «I always take a shower after the shows meanwhile you're having dinner» - «Yeah same! I need to take off my make-up first, and once i'm done, you've already devoured everything» Jun and Daisy were complaining to Vernon and Wonwoo, when the one to blame was actually Hoshi.

As for Hoshi, Daisy was ready to go to him for asking him about posting a selca together, he owns her that for not including her in every after-concert-pictures.

She took the camera with her and in the moment she went to Soonyoung, she saw him, Dino, Dk and Mingyu having fun in the swimming pool. «Carats, I'm doing this for you» - Daisy talked to the camera before zooming into the boys who were shirtless «That's how Mingyu pose for his feed on Insta, oh wow oh sexy» - She screamed hyping him, with the actual purpose of showing his shy side.

«Daisy! Film us and choose! Ready?» - Dino said catching Daisy's attention. «Baby shark durudurduru-» - Dino went underwater and then sang the baby shark song, making everyone laugh. He was truly the maknae of Seventeen. «I can show something better!» - Seokmin put his hands up. «Oh God» - Daisy said when she saw Seokmin's iconic seal's imitation. «Let's stop here» - Hoshi took the camera off Daisy's hand and started to film her «It's your time to choose: Dino's baby shark dance or Dokyeom's seal?» - « Ugh, that's a hard question, I can't choose! Carats, that's up to you!»

I would love to hear the mods top ten train media we should all be consuming if that's okay.

Well, I am no authority on what train media you "should" consume- anyone who is is probably several decades my senior and a lot more experienced with model railroading- but I can tell you some of my favorites! I'll do five fictional and five nonfictional.

Fictional:

Sunless Skies. this one is kind of cheating, but the main way the player interacts with the spooky, steampunk-y, alt-Victorian skyscape of the Reach is by driving their locomotive. it's also one of my favorite games in general, and I think a lot of people who follow this blog would adore it.

Raising Steam by Terry Pratchett. Its main train was knocked out of this pole in round one, but I'm about three quarters of the way through this book, and it's one of the few I've read that really manages to capture the feeling of steam trains. It is, of course, fantastic in many other ways, but it's a standout piece of train media all the same.

Bullet train (2022). I love dumb action movies and I love shinkansens and I love murderous women in pink. 10/10, shapes and colors the likes of which I've never seen.

the Titfield Thunderbolt (1953). unfortunately this film is from 1953 and also British, but is a great little comedy all the same, and the special effects are very impressive for the era. I especially recommend this one to enjoyers of a certain 70+-year-old massive franchise about a little blue tank engine, because there are similarities in the humor I think they would enjoy.

Tales of Terror from the Tunnel's Mouth by Chris Priestley. this is another horror thing, specifically a children's book. Its framing device is a train trip, and well it doesn't go into like, indulgent detail about the mechanics of it, good use is made of it all the same, and the stories really stuck with me-I remember some clearly and still find them scary, and it's been more than 10 years since I read the book.

non-fictional:

basically anything from Network Nathan, my train vlogger fave du jour. I really like his presentation style and charisma, and I've learned a lot from his content that I probably couldn't have picked up otherwise.

The Train Book: The Definitive Visual History from DK. this is basically a picture book for adults, going from the early age of steam to roughly the 2010s. I like it because it's broad-scope and accessible, both of which are hard to come by in rail literature.

Steaming Eccentrics: Life on the Footplate by Stan Wilson. this has the previously mentioned problem of being British and old, but is still a good account of some delightful (and probably slightly exaggerated) railway shenanigans all the same. I much prefer memoirs to history books, so if you're similar, I'd recommend this one.

Steam Railways Explained - Steam, Oil & Locomotion: Steam, Oil and Locomotion by Stan Yorke. this is a great little explainer of railways, not just locomotives. It's easy-to-read and understand, and doesn't suffer the mind-numbingly dry tone a lot of railway nonfiction does.

tie between the YouTube channels Mid Hants Railway 'The Watercress Line' and Hyce. both are educational channels about steam locomotives/railway operation, and occupy very similar spaces. The former is British, the latter is American, so the engines they work with are very different, so I feel comfortable letting them share spot.

I forgot I was a writer too lmao

Anyways this is Part 1 of Funky Kong involvements in the Mario Movie and how I think it will play out.

Disclaimer: This writing may not be accurate towards the actual movie but it’s kind of a replica of how it went down.

After the battle between Mario and DK, Cranky Kong agreed to join forces with Peach in defending her Kingdom against Bowser, the King of Koopas.

Mario and Peach are talking among themselves outside of a tree house on a porch. “That was an incredible fight out there, Mario. Thank you for doing this.” Peach said. Mario looks up at Peach with an ice pack on his cheek as he forms a smile “Hey I was just doing what I felt was right”. Peach smiles back at Mario “thanks to your win, we now have the kongs by our side and together we can defeat Bowser and save my kingdom”.

Out of nowhere, DK slams the door wide open behind Peach and Mario “I let him win! By the way.”. Mario and Peach turn to DK, startled, then Mario replies back “were you eavesdropping our conversation?”.

“Well.. it’s also called mind YOUR BUSINESS!” DK yelled as he picked up a barrel and threw it at Mario. Mario quickly ducks down to dodge the barrel and gives the ice pack in Peach’s hand as he pulls his sleeves up “Alright big monkey I beat you once and I will do it again.”

DK and Mario get up at each other's faces as they are ready to start a fight until Cranky Kong hits their faces with a cane as he walks through “Enough rough housing you two and get inside! We got work to do”. The two back off and head inside, followed by Peach behind the two.

Inside of the tree house, there is a map of the kingdoms and some markings as Cranky Kong walks to it “so that Bowser guy is heading towards the Mushroom Kingdom am I correct? So what we can do is to try to cut him off”. “Yes but where exactly?” Peach asked as she stood next to Cranky. Cranky scoffs a bit and looks up at Peach “Since his island is floating towards your kingdom, there is an area where we can ride on”. Peach looks down at Cranky with her eyes widened “Ride?”.

“Why yes, if you don’t know there is a rainbow road near my kingdom. That road is around the area where Bowser is floating to. If we ride there, we have a higher chance of beating him down there” Cranky said as he slammed his cane on the map where the rainbow road is located. Peach eyes lit up as she looks at the map and turns to Cranky, excitedly “That is an excellent plan, Cranky!- I mean your highness”.

“I’ll leave you off with a warning.. This time.” Cranky adjusted his glasses as he turned to Mario and DK, “then it’s settled then. Let us go to the Kart department and get our karts ready for battle.” “Heck yeah! I hope Funky is there, I haven't seen him all day” DK exclaimed as he got off the hammock and dashed out the door. “You just saw him before your fight you imbecile!” Cranky yelled as he tried to keep up with DK, leaving Peach and Mario alone together.

The two look at each other, confused “Funky?”. “Whoever this Funky is, I bet he is a really cool guy! Let’s go karting!” Toad yelled in excitement as he ran out the door. Mario and Peach just shrugged and followed Toad behind, a little excited.

Later on, Mario, Peach, Toad, Cranky Kong, and DK soon come down from the elevator and are greeted by a team of so many kongs working together, building the karts, attaching the barrels, etc. One of the Kongs is spotted patrolling around the scene to make sure the karts are modified properly for the fight. A kong with purple sunglasses, wearing a polka dot bandana, and a white tank top with some blue shorts to match with the look. As soon as DK spotted this Kong, he immediately dashes towards him “FUNKY!”.

Funky Kong looks up to see DK running towards him and opens his arms with a smile “DK!”. DK quickly goes into a ball and rolls towards Funky, causing him to fall back onto the ground. Cranky Kong shakes his head as he walks towards the two kongs “we don’t have time to play around you two, we got a kingdom to defend”. “You should know that I can’t help myself whenever this kong is around,” DK said as he hit Funky Kong's arm with his elbow. Funky Kong snickers as he rubs his arm “Don’t worry old man, your kart is ready and polished by my kart at the entrance”. Cranky Kong huffs and walks off before turning to Mario, Toad, and Peach “Funky Kong will lead you to the station where the karts are made, now have fun.. I guess”.

“Just go and wait for us old man” Funky Kong shoves Cranky a bit as he gets up and goes to Mario, Peach, and Toad with DK following behind.

“So who do we got here, big man?” Funky Kong asked as he looked at DK. “Well here we got the princess and the protector of the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach, alongside with her is a Toad, then there… that one.” DK said in an annoyed tone as he pointed at Mario. “Hey it’s Mario, you ape.” Mario said insultingly.

“Oh so you’re Mario huh?” Funky Kong said with a smile as he looked down at Mario, “Well it's nice to finally meet Cha”.

“The names Funky Kong. DK’s older brother” Funky Kong said as he lifted up his sunglasses. There was a moment of silence between the group until Peach, Mario, and Toad yells “BROTHER!?!”. DK sweats a bit as he looks away “Whaaa older brother???? I think you got it all wrong sir, don’t you mean I'M the older brother?”. “Mmmm I don’t know, maybe this picture of me holding a baby DK could say otherwise” Funky Kong said as he took a picture out of his pocket and showed it to them. The pictures show a young Funky holding a baby DK for the first time.

“AWWWWW THAT IS SO CUTE!” Toad exclaims as Peach smiles at the picture. However, Mario started to laugh hysterically at the sight of it “Oh my god that’s how you look like as a baby!?! I gotta have a copy of this and put it on a T-Shirt”.

DK soon turns red out of embarrassment and snatches the picture out of Funky’s hand “Funky I told you not to show that to anyone!”. Funky Kong grabs the picture back and puts it back in his pocket as he chuckles “Next time when we have guests here, don’t be denying that I’m your older brother, little bro”. “Fineeee” DK exclaims in frustration. “Also your kart is ready for ya” Funky said as he pats DK’s back. “HECK YEAH!” DK runs off to go find it while Funky Kong watches him with a smile. “Alright let’s get started on y’all’s karts”. Funky said as he turned around while clapping his hands together, “just follow me back here and my team will get started on your karts”.

The group starts following Funky to the station. Mario holds his hands together as he looks down a bit. Just watching Funky and DK being good brothers makes him feel even more lonely. He dearly misses his brother Luigi. He hates being separated from Luigi, and being apart from him for this long is killing him terribly.

Peach noticed Mario’s little action and put her hand on his shoulder for condolence “we will save him, Mario, don’t worry”.

“I know but… I really hope he’s okay” Mario replied.

“Alright here we are, my team behind it will help you with your dream kart” Funky whistles and three Kongs comes out behind the machine, waiting for the group to start on the kart making, “Well what are you waiting for, go and make your karts''. The group look at each other and Toad runs to the machine quickly all excited, then Peach and Mario follow behind. “Meet us at the big door once y’all are done, okay? Don’t be late!” Funky runs off to get on his kart.

Mario looks at the options then looks at Toad, who is working on his kart excitedly. He then looks to the right to see Peach is already finished with her kart and presses the “A” button. Finally, he starts to get started on his own kart, which the Kong in his station starts working on.

After the crew finish up their karts, they start driving around having the best time of their lives. Mario spins around next to DK as Peach drives behind him. DK looks down at Mario then leans out of his car when he looks up at him and whispers “I hate you”. Which made Mario switch from smiling to frowning.

Funky jumps over Mario and DK in his motorcycle and lands on the ground as he does some twirls in it while shouting in excitement “ALRIGHT KONGS! We gotta make sure that we show those koopas that we show no mercy! Now open the doors and let's get to battle!”. The army of Kongs cheers out loud as some of the mechanic kongs press a button to open the door.

“Hey DK, the last one on the rainbow road is a rotten banana!” Funky said quickly before riding off at a fast velocity. “Oh it is ON!” DK speeds off going after Funky. Peach eyes sparkles and raises her arm up as she starts speeding off as well “HERE WE GO!”. Mario and Toad follow behind as the rest of the Kong army starts out of the station and onto the road.

Mario looked out a bit to admire the sight until he spotted a ramp “Uh guys don’t want to alarm y’all but we are reaching at the end of the road”. Cranky drives next to Mario as he laughs “So? It’s called pumping the gas”. Mario hesitated a bit until he took a deep breath and slammed on the gas. Resulting him speeding past Funky and DK and moving towards the ramp at a fast pace. He closes his eyes as he zooms off the ramp while letting out a scream in fear.

But as soon as he opens his eyes, he looks down to see a rainbow revealing itself between the clouds.His eyes light up at the sight of the colorful road until it hits him that he is falling and starts screaming again.

Mario finally lands on the rainbow and drives at ease as he lets out some huffs and puffs to calm himself down. He looks around one more time to take a moment on where he is. It felt like a dream but this is reality. He jumps up with the kart in excitement as he yells “Wah who!”. The rest of the kong army, alongside Peach and Toad, drives behind him after landing on the road.

“Isn’t the rainbow road great? It’s so colorful” Peach said as she drove next to Mario.

“Yeah literally, we don’t ride on rainbows like this back at Brooklyn though” Mario replied as he chuckles a bit. Peach raises an eyebrow “Seriously? What are you gonna tell me next, turtles aren’t evil?”. “Oh yeah they’re not, they’re usually pets” Mario answers.

“No way,” Peach said in shock.

“Yeah come down to Brooklyn some time, i’ll buy you a pet turtle” Mario suggested with a smile. Peach giggles a bit “Maybe I will”.

“Dude, is this you flirting? This is painful!” DK said while riding next to Peach. “Hey I was trying to be nice here” Mario replied. “You’re so embarrassing, a princess will never go out with you,” DK added. “Yes she would, I guarantee she would!” Toad said, defending Mario. “Guys enough” Peach laughs a bit as she looks at Toad and DK.

Funky rides up between Mario and Peach “y’all heard the princess, back off”. DK snickers as he backs up with Toad. Peach looks up at Funky “Thank you, Funky”.

“Anytime, DK can be such a tease when it comes to this stuff” Funky whispers at the end. “With no regrets!” DK yelled. Funky and Peach laugh together a bit as Mario rolls his eyes “your brother is something else”. “Mm? Oh yeah but he is pretty chill when you get to know him” Funky replied while looking down at Mario.

“Yeah if that would ever happen with me any time soon” Mario said to himself.

Funky frowns at the sight a bit “hey is there something going on in your mind? It looks like something is bothering you”. Mario looks up at Funky, feeling a little hesitant a bit “I.. I don’t know if I should say or share anything with you”. “If you are worried about being made fun of then don’t, I’m not like DK you know” Funky reassures Mario as he forms a trusting smile. Mario smiles back at Funky then sighs “I don’t know, ever since I found out that DK is your little brother and the way you and him treat each other, it just reminds me of my own little brother. His name is Luigi and we practically do everything together- heck we even opened our own plumbing business. But now that we are separated, I could only imagine the worst things he must've gone through while I’m doing all this. We’ve never been this separated for this long before and I’m starting to get really worried about him. I don’t know what I’ll do if he..”. Silence grew between Mario and Funky for a moment. Soon Funky breaks the silence “I'm.. I’m sorry to hear that man. But don’t forget about one thing about having a little sibling; They will always look at the bright side of things. Even though he is in a tough situation, he feels hopeful. Why? Because he has a brother that is determined to bring him home safe and sound. You may not know this but sometimes, he looks up to you as an inspirational person.”.

“You.. You really think so?” Mario asked.

“Well from experience, yes, but this isn't about me or DK. This is about you and your relationship with your brother Luigi. He believes in you. No matter what the situation is, he will always believe in you.” Funky answered as he lowered his sunglasses down. Mario smiles at Funky “Wow.. Who knew I would get some good advice from a monkey”. “Well you don’t hear that every day am I right?” Funky laughs a bit and Mario joins in.

But the laughter soon came to a halt as one of the kongs in the army faltered by a koopa shell. Funky takes a pair of binoculars out of the bag that is on his vehicle and looks through it “Shoot, it’s an ambush!”.

“Oh crud, what do we do?” Peach asked as she looked back to see a group of koopas in carts driving behind the army. Funky thinks for a bit then snaps his fingers ``Split formation, I need a group of two; First group stick with me, DK, and Dad to fight in the front while the other group stick with the princess, the toad, and the red man to fight at the back. GO GO GO!”. Funky pushes the gas as he speeds away from Peach, Mario, and Toad so that DK, Cranky, and the first group of Kongs follow his lead.

The army of kongs starts shooting bananas at the koopas in Mario’s group to slow them down but that doesn't stop a certain koopa as it pushes through the other Koopas; The Blue Shell Koopa.

The Blue Shell laughs hysterically as he targets Mario out of the three, who quickly tries to escape the monstrosity of the kart the Blue Shell is riding on. Some of the remaining koopas try to surround Mario but he keeps escaping. However, The blue shell still remains behind him. The Blue Shell smacks his kart to summon some cannon and shoots some bullet bills at Mario, causing him to jump out of the kart and fall down. Luckily, there is a Koopa nearby so he landed onto that Koopas kart and hit him to make him hide into his shell then threw it behind him to cause a Koopa to explode on the rainbow. But that didn’t stop the Blue Shell chase. The Blue Shell grew closer and closer until he trapped Mario’s kart into the jaws of his own kart. With a laugh he started to crush the kart Mario is in, causing him to struggle to not get crushed.

Mario had to think quickly so that he doesn’t get crushed until an idea popped up. He looks around to see DK and Funky working together to protect their dad and hitting the Koopas away with the help of the Kongs they were with. Mario takes a deep breath and lets go of the spike. The jaw closes quickly and the Blue Shell starts to laugh out loud, thinking he had killed Mario. But he thought wrong. Mario managed to slide himself on the side of the kart and whistled out loud to gain DK and Funky’s attention.

DK and Funky look up to see what was going on and nodded to each other then quickly drives to where Mario is at. Mario jumps on DK’s kart as Funky strikes the wheels of his kart to blind The Blue Shell “Now DK!”. DK pushes a button on his kart to make a barrel turn towards the Blue Shell and shoots towards it, causing a huge explosion behind them. The three cheered as they sped off to escape and meet up with Peach and Cranky Kong.

“Great work you guys, that was really explosive” Peach commented and Toad nodded in agreement. Funky chuckles a bit as he hits his elbow against DK’s arm “thank him it was his idea”. “Yeah that was an incredible idea DK!” Mario said as he hits DK’s arm as well, which causes DK to make an annoyed face.

“You think you can outrun me”

The group stops talking and turns their attention to the voice.

The Blue Shell walks out of the fire as he takes his armor off, looking very intimidating “You can't defeat me, BLUE SHELL!”. The Blue Shell quickly goes into shell mode and flies towards the group at lightning speed. “OUTRUN IT QUICKLY!” Funky yelled as he started speeding off. Peach, Cranky, and DK start speeding off trying to escape the Blue shell but it quickly caught up behind one of them: DK and Mario. The Blue Shell swirls around DK and Mario and crashes onto them, causing yet another explosion but this time breaks the rainbow road.

Funky turns his head to see what happened and his heart drops at the sight. He quickly turns around and drives towards the cracking road “DONKEY KONG!”.

“FUNKY KONG!” DK yelled out as he falls.

Funky jumps out of his bike and starts running as fast as he can “DONKEY KONG!”.

“FUNKY KONG!”

“DONKEY KONG!!!!”

“FUNKY KONGGGGGGGGG”

The screams started to grow quieter and quieter by the second until there was no voice heard from the fall.

Funky Kong grew silent as he looked down at where DK and Mario had fallen. Tears started to roll down his face as he processed what just happened. “No… NOO NOOO DONKEY KONG! DONKEY KONG COME BACK!” Funky Kong yelled as he fell to his knees, still looking down. He let out a cry while tears falls down to his hands “DONKEY KONG!”

“DONKEY KONG!”
