I love being a dm
It's so fun (most of the time) but the players are what brings the magic
Example: Everyone needs to roll to hide. They all fail. My co-dm says "you all disguise yourself as potted plants"
Later, it happens again, just with only one person. They roll a 1. I tell them "You lie down on the ground, in the middle of the floor, completely exposed. This idea was dumber than the potted plant."
The problem with being a DM and running a campaign in a homebrew setting is I have all this fun world-building and lore, but I can’t share it with my players because it’ll ruin the surprises and take away the fun.
When your dming and your session ends up being sidetracked into magic amulets that you created in a whim and now one of your players likes the hot amulet lady you created
Turning over a worldbuilding question on the drive home that i've been chewing on for the past few months, and made a cool realization about how i can handle it, and out loud to no one but myself and the steering wheel said "ohhh!" In the tone of someone who has just had a mildly interesting math problem explained to them by an acquaintence.
