Nights in Cádiz - Armando Salazar x Reader (Chapter 3)
I know I should be ashamed to come back and write another chapter as if nothing happened BUT at least I'm back so yay.
The dress I picture [Y/N] wearing here is this one. Also, because it's mentioned, here's a guide on the language of fans in the 18th century.
Tumblr media
As breakfast progressed, with stolen glances and smirks from your part, Armando felt his face flush. It was highly, highly inappropriate for a lady, specially this young, this joyful, to behave like this. He was her father's friend, he left for his last trip when her mom was pregnant. [Y/N] had her whole life ahead and shouldn't be giving her attention to him.
He looked at Lesaro for help but he only shot him knowing glances back and it made him frown. No, this would not do it. He excused himself and stood up, going for a walk outside the house. Fresh air, instead of the suffocating atmosphere inside.
Lesaro found him soon after.
"¿Dónde vás?", his voice made him pause. It was too easy to forget he was a commanding officer too.
"I need fresh air, Gui."
"I can see that. You're troubled today, Armando, and your face is showing it to everyone. ¿Qué pasa?"
Armando turned around then, a loud sigh leaving him. "It's the señorita, Gui. I...Diós."
Guillermo chuckled, approaching him with slow steps. He knew his friend too well, the same good old Armando from the Academy days in front of him now.
He remembers how Armando was, how he always has been. Passionate, intense, a handsome man who always let insecurities get the best of him on these matters. When they were young sailors, it would brew down to him thinking no respectable woman should be with him because of his father's actions. Then, as they rose ranks practically together, it extended to his capabilities, to him being away for too long and not wanting to hold a woman "hostage to his work", as he said.
Armando never planned on being a captain until Guillermo himself vouched for him. He would be a good one, and time proved him right at every possible instance, but at the cost of his own captaincy offer. Guillermo was a man of the crew, Armando was a man of command and it was the way it was supposed to be.
Being on so many different ships together, the deaths, La Maria and the curse, had brought them impossibly close together. They confided everything to each other. The young Armando who relucted in seeking comfort with brothel women in their stops was in front of him again, insecurity and fear shining in his deep eyes and Guillermo almost laughed at how unfitting it seemed to see this man, strong and stubborn, like this.
"What about her, amigo? You seem to be enjoying each other's company enough."
Armando blushed and Lesaro's eyebrows shot up as he said, "She showed up in my dream last night. We talked, Gui. She held my hand, not even flinching at my cursed face."
"Impossible. She never saw us cursed, never even been on La Maria. Armando, are you sure you simply didn't dream her being there?"
He shook his head, "No, ella estaba conmigo. She mentioned it today before breakfast, when I met her at the hall. No sé que hacer."
To say Lesaro was more amused than he should was an understatement, "Perhaps it is a sign, amigo."
Salazar squinted at him, "No te atrevas..."
"A sign your affections are mutual and you need to stop this nonsense and ask Hugo for her hand."
"¡Guillermo Lesaro!", Armando said, eyes going wide and face red. "¡No, absolutamente no!"
"Armando, we got another shot at life to make things right and be happy. If it lies with her, allow yourself to feel it."
"¡No, Guillermo! La señorita is young, I'm an old, seasoned sailor. It is highly inappropriate and wrong to even suggest such a thing."
"A lot of things changed in these years we have been gone, amigo."
Their conversation was cut short by the sound of someone approaching. One look at her and Armando's eyes softened immediately and she gave them a curtsy before looking up at him again. The dress, green skirt and floral overcoat, the hat on top of her head, the way she looked up with the fan in her left hand, open, the message conveyed so elegantly.
"Am I interrupting, ¿almirantes?"
"No, señorita! I was just telling Armando I have something to attend to at the Armada headquarters so if you will excuse me.", Lesaro bowed to them and walked away, a smile on his face at the playful betrayal.
Armando, on the other hand, held her right hand and planted a kiss on it in greeting. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Walk with me, Armando?", she said, smiling. And Armando would not, could not refuse. He offered her his arm, smiling as she took it and they walked towards the gardens.
Spanish translations:
¿Dónde vás? = Where are you going?
¿Qué pasa? = What's going on?
Diós = God
No, ella estaba conmigo = No, she was with me
No sé que hacer = I don't know what to do
Amigo = Friend
No te atrevas... = Don't you dare...
¡No, absolutamente no! = No, absolutely not!
Almirantes = Admirals
Señorita = miss

Some thoughts on the choice of Carina Smyth's first name
Ngl even though there are many things I don't like about DMTNT, I think that Carina is like one of the best names that could be chosen for Barbossa's daughter. It sounds like a pretty regular name at first, but I think the backstory is what makes it actually a really great choice.
"Carina" is the name of a star constellation which is also known as "keel of the ship". In the german dub of the movie this is actually made more obvious, as Carina says that she's named after said star constellation, whereas in the original she says the the brightest star in the north (which is part of the constellation) gave her her name. Being named after a star constellation which resembles a ship (or at least a part thereof), her name is connected to both the stars and the sea, two focal points in Barbossa's life as a pirate and as a captain. He's a man of the sea and an exceptional navigator, and I think it's safe to assume that he has a very good knowledge of astronomy, particularly for navigational purposes. As he said himself, he knows which stars to follow home.
I like to think that Barbossa consciously chose his daughter's name because of its meaning. However, we unfortunately don't know under which conditions it was chosen, since we simply don't have enough information about his and Margaret Smyth's relationship. How many months before the birth did he learn that he was going to be a father? Were he and Margaret able to prepare for the changes in their lives that might come with having a child, did they make any plans for the future? Did they think up names together, and he suggested Carina, should they have a daughter? Or did Hector just return to land one day to learn his partner had died while he was at sea, and left him a child, and he had to come up with a name on the spot and the first thing that came to his mind were the star constellations?
I kind of doubt that we will get any canonical answers to those questions, so they are left to the realm of headcanons. I personally like to imagine that Barbossa chose the name carefully, and because of what it meant to him personally. Even though he kind of said in the movie that he never wanted his daughter to be associated with pirates (which happens to include himself), I think as her father he still wanted to make at least one meaningful impact on her life, which happened to be the choice of her name. Maybe also, in that way he would never forget her, since whenever he observed the sky and saw the star constellation Carina, he would also think of his daughter.

DMTNT: "You have a........ghost??...friend?? In me???- Ending
Tumblr media
@acidyellowlava Sometimes, rambling became true
Here's my hot take on Pirates of the Caribbean DMTNT movie: It was all a bad nightmare caused by too many amounts of nutmeg added in the soup. A collective error. Sometimes happens.
The real ending was that no OP artifact got found, and the Cursed had to cope with their eternal state of undead(ess). After a while everyone came to terms with their personal situation. Someone proposed therapy group sessions and somehow- cursed and the living rejoiced toghether…! Waoh unbelivable...! Also Carina after her first denying reaction about ghosts, she quickly became so enthralled by them, to later becoming a full time paranormal researcher! Yes she's always invited on the Silent Mary to tango and salsa's nights.
Of curse course the undead would dance Henry Belafonte's hits song Of course Lieutenant and Captain are enjoying some ghostly drinks made of ghostly fruits' juice. They got a tiny orchard on the ship now. Also, you know? They even brew beer in there. They're retired now, it's matter of time before they'll start behaving like some old gramps.

Hey folks! It’s time for a round of Penn has an idea but can’t draw it! ~Animatic edition~
This idea is Casey centered and goes with the song Ship in a Bottle by fin (which is an amazing song btw!!)
The song basically tackles the struggles Casey has about adjusting to the present while also keeping some parts of the resistance secret from everyone (besides the few happy moments that happened).
He feels his anxiety get the better of him, being slightly protective of the others, too tense and wary of everything around, flinching at every sound that echoes in the night.
Because of how many deaths and tragedies happened in the apocalypse, Casey has blocked most of them out, at least until they haunt him in his sleep after he is in the present timeline.
He see’s the piles of dead bodies, the blood seeping from their lifeless flesh as they laid on the debris covered ground. Every face is carved into his brain and he can’t get rid of the images. There’s this longing of wanting to share his nightmares, to have the reassurance that everything was fine, but seeing the turtles being happy and not affected by the total apocalypse of the Krang, he holds himself back.
He doesn’t want to scare the others more than the krang situation already did.
The others slowly realize Casey’s actions and try to help him in the few ways they can, but feels like their efforts are fruitless as Casey waves them off and leaves every time the topic comes up.
Cue in the part where Leo comes through the portal.
Casey feels conflicted about seeing his sensei, he’s happy that he’s alive yet at the same time has grieved and learned to accept that he died. How does a teen deal with that emotional whiplash of seeing someone you thought was dead standing right in front of you?
Reluctant avoidance that’s what.
Casey sticks by Leo’s side for the full part of his recovery but as Leo adapts to the present, Casey is distancing himself not because he wants to, but because seeing his sensei brings back the horrible memories he wants to forget.
Of course Leo knowing Casey all his life, spots this but can’t seem to get an answer out of his student. And it takes being saved after a wild mutant to make the kid talk.
Casey let’s out all his anxieties, fears, nightmares and all the things he’s been holding back, and Leo can see theirs guilt swirling in his kids eyes.
“I’m mad at myself and I hate it-“ Leo let Casey his his plastron, his fist tight and clenched as his emotions started pouring out. “I-I’m mad that the others can have a peaceful life and not have to go through anything we did. I’m mad that I can’t get any sleep because all of the dead bodies and killings keep replaying in my head. I’m mad that I feel like I have to avoid you to not feel like my life is still in danger and that seeing you makes me realize we’re all alone. Our family is dead and we’re the only ones who made it out alive.”
Leo pulls Casey into a tight hug, his arms tightly wrapped around the teen.
“You are never alone Casey. Everyone is watching over us even while we’re still living, and I know that they’re proud of you for making it this far. I’m so proud of you for making it this far and saving the future. I couldn’t have asked for a better student.”
Anata wa hitori janai
Now Casey can’t stop his tears, he hides his face in Leo’s plastron and the older turtle can’t help but hug his student just a bit tighter.
“Everything’s okay Casey. I’m right here. We’re here with you.”

Cursed / Armando Salazar x OC / Chapter 33
Tumblr media
Epilogue
Armando stands at the helm of the Mary, something that has become a routine for him over the years, and gaze over the decks of the vessel, bustling with life.
His crew is hard at work as always, preparing for another day of sailing and capturing pirates. At the main deck, Magda is already training Alejandro and Javier, teaching them about footwork and balance. They still train with wooden swords, but once they turn ten in a few months, they will see to replace the wooden ones with real blades.
Jimena, who is only two years younger than the boys, stands at the side, waiting her turn with her wooden sword in hand. Every now and then, she would yell at her brothers, “Lift your feet, Ali! Your footwork is atrocious! Javier, watch out for the…mierda! How did you not see that table?!”
“Jimena,” he warns from his post, “language.”
“Sorry, papa!”
He shakes his head. She’s takes after Samira and only recently learned two new words from Magda: atrocious and, well, mierda. The latter he’s not awfully proud of and had a long talk with Miguel about the words he uses in front of the children.
Just below at the quarter deck, Moss is teaching little Carmen to read. She just turned five and came a bit as a surprise, but not that he minded. The Mary is big enough to house about fifty people, what is a few more children, eh?
“When will I get to play with sticks?” Carmen asks as she stares at her brothers and sister.
“As soon as you turn six, pequeño,” Antonio says calmly, turning the page of the book.
“Why?”
“Because you might get hurt if you’re too young,” Moss explains patiently.
“Is that what happened to Tío Santos?” she asks in her childish innocence, “His nose looks funny.”
From behind the wheel, Lesaro snorts.
“No, nothing like that happened to Uncle Santos,” chuckles Moss.
“Then what happened to his nose, Tío Antonio?”
“He met his wife, niñita,” Lesaro answers her question with a smirk, recalling the day Santos walked into the mast, and from across the deck, the officer in question sends him a glare.
“You’re just jealous Esther chose me and not you,” Santos calls back, referring to a moment during the midwife’s stay on the ship when Lesaro mentioned that she’s pretty. It’s been a hell of an argument that day, but at last, it came to an end when Esther shyly admitted she thought Santos is attractive.
And one year later, the crew of the Silent Mary celebrated their second wedding after the curse.
“Don’t be sad, Tío Lesaro,” says little Carmen, “One day, you will marry a princess and you will live in a palace made of seashells and eat as many coconuts as you like.”
Lesaro smiles and nods in agreement, “Sí, I will marry a princess. Hear that, Santos!”
Armando shakes his head and laughs. He would’ve never guessed these men were once cursed, deprived of feelings and emotions, and only thriving on revenge. Look at them now. They’ve gone soft! Even Magda is allowing the boys to tackle him onto his back, floundering dramatically as they pile on top of him.
“Ugh,” Jimena rolls her eyes, “Niños.”
He huffs a laugh. Sí, she takes after her mother.
And speaking of which…
His heart misses a beat as it always does when laying eyes on Samira. He spots her climbing up the side of the Mary, hair dripping wet and skin glowing in the early morning sun. She has returned from her weekly visit to Port Royal to check in on Henry and his family. Seeing as she can literally transform herself into a body of water and use the ocean to travel around the world in minutes, she has the luxury of seeing her other family once a week.
“Mama!” the children swarm her with hugs and kisses when they see her.
Armando smiles as he makes his way toward them, feeling his heart swell with love just by seeing what he’s achieved in his life. Hunting pirates is nothing compared to this.
After greeting their children, Samira looks up to him, blue eyes reflecting the ocean in its most beautiful form. “Mi amor.”
He doesn’t say a word as he kisses her deeply, uncaring that her clothes are soaking his. Armando grins when the boys make gagging sounds, and pulls back, “How was your visit?”
Her smile widens, “Fantastic, thank you for asking.”
“And?” he urges her to say more, “What did they get?”
“They had a girl!” she basically blurts out as if she couldn’t wait for him to ask. “Henry lost a bet, so Carina got to choose a name, Mirabelle. You should see her, mi amor, she’s so, so small, and soft, and precious…” Samira looks at him and bats her lashes, “I think we should have one more.”
He blinks. “Another child?”
“Yes. If it’s a girl, we’ll name her Isabella, and if it’s a boy, Emilio.”
Armando looks over his shoulder at the boys wrestling on the deck, arguing who is the better sword fighter between the two.
On the side, Jimena loudly cheers them on, shouting above the noise, “Javier, what did Tío Magda tell you? Always go for the eyes! Alejandro, cover your damn eyes!”
And then there’s little Carmen, trying to sneak up on a seagull that perched on the rail, but ends up staring at it in awe instead.
Armando smiles. He has the perfect life now. He is the Capitán  of the mightiest ship in the seven seas with a crew that would follow him through war, he married a woman, a sea goddess, who call up storms when she’s angry and calms them when’s she’s content, and she’s given him four beautiful children. They have an estate back in Spain with enough room for them to have as many children as they want, and he still have many years ahead of him to see them grow up, get married, and have children of their own.
Back in the Triangle, being a married man, a father, and leaving behind a legacy were the last things on his mind. He ruled them out as things he’ll never have.
But Samira flooded their lives and broke their curse and showed him all the things he never knew he wanted.
For once, Lesaro was wrong. One curse – a blessing in disguise – can break another.
And so, he kisses her again, tasting the ocean on her lips and inhaling the sea on her skin. When he pulls back, he smiles because, how can he refuse her anything?
“Then let’s go make another child, mi corazón.” In a spirited motion, he has her in his arms and carries her to the great cabin, fully intending to worship her in the privacy of their room.
