Wammy´s kids music taste hcs.
this is just my opinion! Feel free to share yours (with respect) in the comments if you want!
Tumblr media
- Mello: i’m pretty sure that he likes metal and rock. I think that his favorite band would be SoaD, and when he was younger he used to listen to Slipknot (he still listens to some of their song).
- Matt: idk why but I’m 100% sure that he listens to Nirvana and My Chemical Romance, like, I don’t know why but every time I think of it I really can imagine Matt listening to those two bands in his car.
- Near: tbh, I don’t think near is the type of person that listens to music actually, but if he did I’m sure it would be slow music that isn’t too loud, in my headcanons, Near is very sensitive with loud noises or music, it just bothers him and makes his head ache, that’s why I also headcanon that he actually doesn’t listen to music. But in my opinion, he would listen to some lamp songs, they have very slow songs that are very relaxing, especially Yume Utsutsu, I think that would be his fave song tbh.
Linda: Im pretty sure she listens to Marina or bôa. I think that she likes Marina’s voice and the lyrics of her songs, and about bôa, she also like the same things, but, she probably listens to bôa more because I think that the songs would inspire her every time she wants to draw.
B.B: okay, it was kinda hard to think this one, like, he definitely doesn’t listen to music, I really don’t see him as the type to enjoy music, he probably doesn’t care about music and doesn’t thinks about listening to it. BUT, if he did, he would probably listen to Rebzyyx’s songs or pretty little psycho in nightcore (I’m sorry, but if B.B listened to music I definitely see him listening to some nightcore songs)
It’s really hard for me to make B.B headcanons for me, I hope they don’t sound wrong cuz I really don’t know a lot about him, I’m so sorry!

Am I creating my own little graph of the dn time line including everything I can figure out about Wammy’s and rolling in as many of the extra/side stories as I possibly can (including J and F and Housekeeper and A and also Maki and Linda) in notion? Maybe so.

this is about my dn characters tier list. and it's an incoherent post, because my english is not english-ing right now.
I just noticed that I put Watari in "genuinely like" tier without explaining why.
I just think his character is funny overall. He's so unpredictable for being a old man. His character has so many twists and turns, like you wonder how many thing he can do. Sniper, chef, inventor, L's right hand, etc. He's so versatile that is comical, and I love that. Also, that one interaction with L, in which he tells the task force about the fund, and L is like: "who tf asked you" is iconic. I wish he was present there and not just via a screen, so we could see his reaction.
I believe he fucked up with the wammy's house when he decided to create the successor programme and put some fucking kids in it, because before L, it was just a normal orphanage and, even after L's arrival, not everyone was part of the programme (Linda wasn't part of it, if I'm not wrong).
And he has several other orphanages, so while I think the successor programme like that is fucking weird and I strongly believe he was pretty much absent from these children's lives, that doesn't make him totally morally corrupt (like, sometimes I see him talked about even worse than fucking Light lmaoo).
And if I have to be totally honest, I feel like this fucked up thing is just something the author added in because he needed to but didn't think things through completely. Idk, he needed someone to succeed L, but not an adult when L died, because he didn't want to make them old and needed the time skip to show that Light took over the world, so he thought "okay let me make them kids so they grow up and become adults and they can go after Light", but also, where do I take this kids? I can't just let some parents give their children away, so okay, L is an orphan, so I'm going to take them from his orphanage, but how do I make it happen? Let me make a successor programme for them and yada yada.
It's a very superficial idea and doesn't take in consideration how the characters are affected by it. Just like Misa's imprisonment. Completely overlooked how she felt and if that affected her whatsoever.
Also, I feel like... L wouldn't allow that. I just don't think he would look at a bunch of kids and think: "yes, I'm going to put so much pressure on you that you'll end up killing yourself at the mere age of 12 (Near's age when L dies for example)"... like, what??? I know L probably thought he would become old and he would retire and leave his job to someone in his idk 40s, but i believe he would take in consideration the possibility of him dying way before. He even talked in the manga about him dying, so, it just feels wrong and out of character to do that, to put kids in the successor programme, knowing how hard his job is and all.
In short, for story's sake, this thing was added in and never fully explained.
That doesn't mean I excuse Watari, because he still created an environment that was extremely toxic for children. Putting a bunch of "smart" kids in the same place, showing them they are there only because they showed to have a talent, would obviously create competition, feeling of insecurity and inferiority, etc.
That is even without the successor programme. It's the Wammy's House. Only if you are sure in your abilities and you don't let yourself be crushed by the system, you can easily live there. Like Matt didn't fucking care and, while he was good at computers, he spent most of his time playing videogames. Linda had her own thing and became a famous painter, and the Wammy's gave her the possibility to practice her talent.
We don't have many other kids, in or out the programme (which proves that this wasn't well developed, because... just two kids in the canon? A and BB are from another novel entirely), and we know how Mello and Near are.
tl;dr:
- Watari: fun character in the canon manga; making an (1) orphanage based on intelligence, kinda weird, but I can get what he wanted to do; if I have to pretend that the successor programme was intended to perceived as we do, fucked up thing. that's inhumane. poor kids.
- Wammy's House (no successor programme): good if it accepted everyone, bad in practice, detrimental for the kids who have self esteem issues, are prone to stress and anxiety; it's okay for those who just need material support to develop their abilities.
- Successor programme: made up of kids? literally, what the fuck. made up of adults? that would make much more sense. true that most of L's generation died, but still... why not adults.

I'm going to give updates of what happens to my DN Sims because sometimes it's funny. Also, my last household for all of them actually fucking perished because of the High School "patch" so everyone died, but that's fine I guess...
I decided to make Wammy's with Near, Mello, Matt, Roger and Linda (all I could think of?) and throw them in a makeshift orphanage so they're all having fun ig. No violence yet but Matt has been flirting with all of his friends, Near doesn't do anything, and Mello likes to be mean to Near. I'll have them progress eventually when they age up to young adults and move Near in with Rester, Mello and Matt can do their own thing and join a gang, etc.
In another household I made the Yagamis and they're relatively happy and normal for now...:D
B who was the originally from the first sweep of DN sims is still alive somehow, living alone and getting away with numerous serial killings. I was going to delete him to just sort of reset them all but I can't do it, he's just got too much effort put into him.
Mikami also croaked by aging up too fast so,,,
So far that's all I have. Misa, L, and basically everyone else don't exist yet.

I want to write a dn ff about the wammy days up to the case, would it be more fun to read with or without an oc addition??
I think this depends on what you plan to do with the plot... Is there a central conflict, or do you intend for it to be more slice of life? Will there be a particular pairing, or is it more... "The Rambunctious Adventures of the Wammy Boys"™?
In my opinion, OCs are really fun, and interesting when they've got a strongly developed background/personality/etc! When they're built as someone that's their own person and doesn't necessarily rely on the characteristics of the other established characters to make them likeable.
At the same time, what I also think is important to keep in mind, is that many people are reading fics to read about their favorite characters... So I can see how, for some readers, too much focus on the OC can get in the way of that... Personally, when I write OCs, I try to keep in mind a delicate balance between how much my OC is present in meaningful ways, while also making sure to develop scenes and adequate time for just the established characters themselves to interact together on their own, too.
Of course, if you feel that the latter of these dilemmas may be something you're up against, you may want to consider whether using a small, but already established character might be the better way to go!
For example: if the story is "The Rambunctious Adventures of the Wammy Boys"™ I would decide to use Linda as the other side of their Hellion Seesaw: While the other 2 or 3 Wammy Boys are up to no good, I'd make Linda the one following along behind them, constantly crossing her arms with loud huffs of annoyance reminding them of how foolish they're being, and how it's only going to lead to them getting in trouble. But also maybe she's the one who inevitably pulls them out of a troublesome situation at the last moment~
Really, the decision of how you want to build your story is up to you, and what will make it the best it can be!
I hope this helps. Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure it's going to turn out fantastic!

DN interviewed Finland's all time top goal scorer Sällström after her critique of Fifa.
Finland's superstar rages against Fifa: "Feels disgust and contempt"
Fifa banned rainbow armbands during the men's World Cup in Qatar.
It has caused Finland's top women's soccer player, Linda Sällström, to rage – and to completely lose confidence in the international soccer federation.
In seven months, the women's World Cup will be played, with several openly gay players.
- How should this be interpreted other than as a big "fuck you" to all sexual minorities? says the Vittsjö striker.
She decided already a year ago; she does not intend to watch a single match from the WC in Qatar.
- I have stuck to that, says Linda Sällström when DN reaches her by phone.
- I think this WC represents everything that is wrong in the world. I just feel so much disgust and contempt for Fifa right now. I can't watch football and enjoy it, there is no way to justify this World Cup.
She recently signed a new contract with women's club Vittsjö. In Finland, she is the women's national team's top scorer of all time.
Finland will miss the WC next year, but there were EC games this summer. The Finnish-Swedish striker has donned the national team shirt 122 times. Now she questions her love for football.
With reference to the rainbow armbands stopped by Fifa - and the fact that the international football association in the men's World Cup threatened to punish teams wearing the armband - the 34-year-old wrote a long post on Instagram in November.
Her conclusion, she wrote, is that she "as a gay player is unwelcome in the football world, to the extent that other players must also be punished for standing up for my right to exist".
- For me, football is about joy and inclusion, doing good together, says Sällström.
- But all this that Fifa has done is very strongly against that. It doesn't feel good at all.
In several posts in social media, she has chosen to mark. So also in several interviews in the Finnish press.
It is about many things, says the star: the corruption behind Qatar being awarded the World Cup, the situation of migrant workers, LGBTQ people and women in the country, that Fifa moved the World Cup to the middle of the season and about how stadiums have been blown up in the middle of the desert.
The discussion about the rainbow colored bandages, as well as the fact that national teams were not allowed to wear shirts with the text " human rights for all" or " love ", makes her both frustrated and angry.
Linda Sällström links to the upcoming women's World Cup, which will be played in Australia and New Zealand this summer:
- Fifa is really doing everything in its power to exclude the rights of homosexuals in this ongoing World Cup, but then there will be a women's World Cup in just over six months... and there will be several openly gay players playing. It will be very wrong.
- Fifa wanted to punish the teams that wanted to wear the rainbow armband... how should we interpret that except as a big "fuck you" to all sexual minorities? And it's not just about me or my rights, but this is so much bigger.
Why is it important to you to mark?
- I hope that people will become aware of all this stuff, that they will be able to put pressure on Fifa.
- It is clear that individual people, and the little I do, will have no significance, but if there are enough people who put pressure, it can make a difference. Then I think sponsors can do a lot. Because Fifa has really made it clear that the only thing that matters to them is the money.
She has received a lot of support, she says.
- At the same time, you have also received a bit of hate, on social media. As you usually get when you raise your voice. But it is also just a sign that there is still a lot of work to be done.
In Sweden, center back Nilla Fischer, who announced on Monday that her career is over, has long been at the front line in the fight for everyone's equal value in football.
She too has reacted strongly to Fifa threatening yellow cards to team captains who wear rainbow armbands.
- I cook inside, said Fischer in SVT's WC broadcast the other week.
- That Fifa once again shows its power and decides over the armbands and Belgium's shirt, that it cannot say "love" on them... How can they think it's not okay?
The decision not to allow demonstrations for inclusion in Qatar also disturbs Sweden's national team captain Peter Gerhardsson. Also that the WC is played where it does.
- To me it is incomprehensible, Gerhardsson told DN last week.
His team captain has been in the habit of wearing rainbow armbands. Gerhardsson hopes that the bandage to be or not to be will not be a question to deal with during the women's World Cup:
- It's not the same way. The World Cup in Australia and New Zealand will certainly be different.
- The girls are very far ahead when it comes to many of these issues. We'll see where we end up, but it's nothing we're discussing at the moment.
