Greetings folks! Travelers beware. The steep cliff-like mountains are treacherous, and many have fallen to their death. The brutal sun is blinding, and unexpected sandstorms make navigation quite tricky. Vultures circle overhead waiting for travelers who have come to meet their end. Although the dusty road seems abandoned at first, many travelers have been ambushed by both wild animals and bandits.
This week's map is "Dusty Road". This map isn't meant for pleasant encounters. Your party will have to face the unwelcoming environment, as well as potential ambushes. Rocky terrain can provide some tactical advantage, but it also makes it difficult to move around, and unstable ground of the hills cannot be trusted.
Fill up your waterskin, hide from the harsh sunlight, and travel along the Dusty Road!
Adventure hooks:
The journey to the oasis seems straightforward, but there are many dangers along the way. The road is rough and full of sand and rocks. All of the surroundings look the same, so you must be careful not to get lost in this seemingly barren wasteland. The longer you travel, the more your mind seems to get lost in this drying madness. Everything begins to look ominous, even your companions. You feel as if someone is following you. Or maybe your comrades are the traitors? Will you be able to distinguish friends from enemies?
You are part of an adventuring group that travels the world working as caravan guards. Your latest contract is to escort a large caravan of merchants and their goods through these godforsaken lands. The job pays well, but there are rumors that the place you are traveling through is haunted by strange monsters.
In the middle of the night, you were attacked. In the chaos of the fight, one of your party members was dragged away by the bandits. The sandstorm obliterated all traces that could have helped in the search. After wandering for hours looking for them, you spot a bloody piece of clothing caught on a bush branch. You recognize it. You need to find your companion before all hope is lost.
"Dusty Road" [33x62] has 8 map variants (plus grid, no-grid, JPG, PNG and PDF versions) and 6 assets (ready for Roll20, Foundry or your favorite VTT platform).

Terror of the frozen north, Krampus was summoned from a primal fey realm long ago by a circle of druids who feared losing their standing in the local community. The village had begun to doubt the effectiveness of the druids’ rituals in protecting the village from the harsh rigors of winter. The vengeful spirit at first served as a moral arbiter, turning those who misbehaved back into children to punish them. However, over time the petty evils of the village corrupted its spirit, and it developed a taste for humanoid flesh, returning winter after to winter to terrorize the villages, even long after the druidic circle was gone. Krampus stands 14 feet tall and weighs 1,000 pounds.

1d8 Character Fears...
True Love. I fear true love, of being in the presence of a purity of emotional honesty that I will never know.
Famine. I have seen those who die by starvation, a death of indignity. I know how easily I too could suffer such a fate. It puts a sick feeling in my gut, one that is not easily remedied.
Deep Water. I fear the dark abyss of the Sea, the uncertainty of what lurks in those endless depths, and the writhing creatures beneath the waves that may seek to steal my soul.
The Wilderness. I fear the dark of the woods, for I have learned and made known of what dark things dwell within such places.
Cowardice. I fear being revealed a coward, that in some act of horror I will do what it is only natural and be forever shamed.
The Afterlife. I fear that upon my demise, however good or righteous it might be, that I will still be cast into the cruel and cold hands of an eternally alone and dark afterlife.
Loss of Control. I fear loss of my self, loss of my being; my face, my ego. I worked so hard to be notably myself, and to have this marred and invalidated, to look upon myself and not see me…that terrifies me deeply.
Undeath. I’ve witnessed the terrors of undeath, of spectres and skeletons, and so I fear my corpse may not stay motionless forever…

I wanted to write my thoughts on campaign 3 of Critical role But I wanted to sit on it a little bit instead of more or less giving my hot takes after the first episode.
First off want to say this is my 1st time watching the show live right from the start so it's cool to not be able to know where it's going and just go along with the ride. In my last post of critical role, I said I hope they would do something completely different and they didn't disappoint. I see that some of the community is disappointed that it's not just all new charaters and some of the cast are playing with characters they made already. I don't see that as a problem, in the last 2 campaigns they did that so it's cool and a different narrative choice to have characters we already know. The Mighty Nein did seem like a found family very early on and right now it seems like the new group seems a bit more thrown together and has a co-worker kind of vibe. that sounds like a critique but I really don't mean it to be. I'm still getting used to who everyone is playing so I can't really say who my favorite is right now but everyone seems to be having a blast so that rubs off on me and I cant not get hooked into the story/game. I cant wait to see a year from now how the characters will have changed since episode one

Bard Ideas That Don't Involve Music
Your bard can be anything artsy, they don't need to know how to play any instrument! So have some of the more outlandish bard ideas that don't involve singing or drawing! (Those are still super valid!)
Ventriloquist: I've mentioned this one before (a ventriloquist bardlock with the undead patron possessing the doll), but now I'm actually playing said character in a Curse of Strahd campaign and they are just so much fun!! You don't have to go the full mile of bardlock, but you can totally have a ventriloquist bard! Just ask your dm if they can allow you to add a ventriloquist doll to your inventory!
Poet/Actor/Playwrite: I've listed them together because my character, Airrin, fits all of them. You can play either of these ideas separately, but they all involve you casting spells via poems or plays; either classic ones or made up on the spot. In fact, if you play a college of spirits bard and they're an actor, you can recite hamlet with your spell casting focus!
Sculpture/Mini Maker: Depending on your background, your bard can have a tool kit and use it to sculpt rocks and things on the battle field! Make minis of the party to inspire them, make the BBEG and then break their mini in half to intimidate or cast vicious mockery! The options are endless.
Baker: Become the party's Peeta! Of course you would need a way to cast spells, but as long as the dm allows you to carry around ungodly amounts of frosting you should be okay! You could even just cast spells by making witchy incantations about ingredients or even just throwing raw ingredients at enemies!
Fashion: Good costumes will get you far in life as a bard, and being a fashion expert helps a lot. If you play your cards right, you'll be able to start the game with several costumes and tools to help with making outfits! Cure wounds with a hypothetical (or real) thread, insult someone's outfit for vicious mockery, and get the evil queen on your side by making her an extravagant dress!

Online Dnd Groups
I know my tumblr is primarily a writeblr, but this is the first place I'm prone to come to. I've been dming since I was sixteen on-and-off, which should be roughly four, five years now. And currently I'm looking to build two groups to run. If you're interested on the information I list, please dm me!
I'm looking to run a campaign based on my novel "The Sinister Six". Everyone will be a criminal from an organized family of crime. You will be brought together by your family to work together.
The First Group
The first group I'm looking to run is an online group through discord. We would meet for weekly voice chats Tuesdays at 8pm to 10pm/10:30pm est.
I'm looking for the group to be 6-8 people. I already have four friends who are interested, so we just need 2-4 more people!
We will meet for a session zero. We'll talk characters, ideas, expectations. And we will also discuss boundaries and what subjects are welcomed and which will be avoided throughout the campaign.
The Second Group
The second group I'm looking to run is an online group through discord. This group will be strictly play-by-post, so we don't have to have weekly meetings and voice chats. And it's easier and more flexible with schedules.
I'm looking for the group to be about 6-8. I already have four friends who are interested so we only need 2-4 more people!
Before we officially start, we'll all talk through texts and become comfortable. We'll talk characters, ideas, expectations. And we will also discuss boundaries and what subjects are welcomed and which will be avoided throughout the campaign.
Other Information
Both campaigns will have the same premise. And if you wish to play in both campaigns, I absolutely welcome it!
We will be using 5e.
I'm looking for the group to be LGBTQ+ inclusive, and a safe space for everyone.
As I'm recently turning twenty-one [21], I'd feel most comfortable with having space of people who are in the range of 17-25.
In my experience I've been called a very unorthodox dm. I'm very laid back, and tend to bend the rules to be more accommodating.
When it comes to stats, I have my players roll 4d6, they reroll 1s and 2s. And they keep all four numbers. You won't have a stat beneath 10 unless you explicitly ask for it.
I also give free feats at levels 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18
Everything will be homebrew. As it goes hand-in-hand with my writing and the universes I work with. The world is homebrew. The deities are homebrew. Some races are homebrew.
