Wanted to finally post about my OCs, so here's my DND OC Kimzu Luhire! (Or just Kim for short) with her familar, Oliver!

Kim's a Chaotic Good Warlock Drow who escaped from the Underdark and survived through making a pact with an unknown patron through who would become her beloved familar, Oliver (I'll do a proper post about her full backstory later, but just know the details are subject to change as Kimzu hasn't been able to get into a proper campaign yet)

I basically thought, since I feel like many Drow are antiheroes or otherwise edgy (affectionate), "What if I made a Drow into a cute Magical Girl?" And I'm so happy I did!

Staying up past my bedtime to note that one of my newest dnd characters has acquired a pet rat (gender unknown, referred to only as Cookie the Triumphant) and this is singlehandedly the best thing I have ever accomplished in a dnd campaign ever except maybe convincing a DM to let me keep a crab as a pet by carrying it around in a self water style baby Bjorn.

"Do you mean the MythFriend? Or as I think it should be named, the YxalaFoe? That's some dumb thing my brother made, which I've been unwillingly stuck with ever since we accidentally got into a pact. All it does is this weird coo-coo noise and flirting attempts with anything round, as well as being a general menace. I don't know, Mythannae said he used it as a familiar- And now that our pact is a bit stronger, I think he hopes I'll do the same, but... Gods, couldn't I just get a regular Imp or something?"

(Thank you for the ask! Yxala just got level 3 on warlock, picked pact of the chain, and the MythF(r)iend shall become her familiar now. She doesn't get along with it. The MythFriend LOVES to antagonize her)

The Draxolotl Familiar

My friend's character has a familiar sent by his watery deity, which happens upon us during a strange fog while at sea.

The Draxolotl has so far, in one session: stolen food, harassed the crew, and by falling on the spirit bard's deck, drew the tarokka card that helped all the other cards make sense.

(this is his daytime form he is bioluminescent at night)

I want Bug to have a familiar, but I rlly can’t decide what creature!!!

I’m thinking flying snake, mountain goat, blink dog, young wyvern, or something else. Does anyone know of shapechanging mythical animals? I can’t find much on the topic. If all else fails, I’ll probably go with a modified mountain goat.

In dnd canon the only “salamanders” are those big angry monsters and I wanted my character to have a funny little salamander companion that was immune to fire— Thus:

And listen— I KNOW creature stat blocks about real life animals aren’t meant to be literal in how they translate skills and abilities. Bc it’s a game. But I couldn’t help myself bc:

-> Speed is 10ft bc salamanders are Slow, unless they’re swimming

-> Beefy con bc they can survive losing limbs and tails and regrow them

-> Also why they have a regenerate bonus action to restore hit points

-> Disadvantage on opportunity attacks against them bc they’re slippery and covered in mucus

-> Their bite attack does bludgeoning instead of piercing damage bc most salamanders don’t have teeth

-> It’s their tail attack that does poison damage bc salamander’s poison glands are at the base of their tail, and salamanders will lift their tail in a defensive position when threatened

-> Some salamanders specifically produce tetrodotoxin, which is a dangerous nerve agent/paralytic (same one found in poisonous pufferfish) hence why failing the saving throw by enough can paralyze people

I imagine these guys are a bright red that fades to black on their limbs and tail, and a little bigger than most non-giant salamander species; maybe 18-24 inches long including the tail. My character’s is named Phlox.
