If you're not to busy and take requests- can I request a botw link x male reader where the male reader is an almost extinct race called the "yexrid" who can manipulate their body temperatures to be a space heater or an air conditioner and link and y/n are going through the gerudo highlands snowy mountains and y/n absolutely loves the snow and they have to camp there- and link is really cold so y/n turns his body heat up and cuddles link to sleep? Sorry it's long I'm lonely 🥲

It took Link a little while to realize that you don’t really feel things the same way he does. At least, not fully.
You said you knew the basics of what you could do. You were separated from your family long before you were able to gain full mastery, but that doesn’t stop you from being impressive. Not one bit. And it’s in the little things you do. It’s the fact that you could feel a sudden breeze and decide that you just won’t be cold. It’s the fact that you can drink a hot bowl of Prime Meat Soup in the desert and decide that you just won’t be hot. And it happens. Your body adjusts. And you continue about your day like you aren’t made of magic. Like you aren’t from an almost extinct race of people who had almost total control of their body, spirit, and mind.
And yes, you’ll have your slip-ups. For a descendant of an ancient race of people- one of the most powerful groups of people to ever exist in Hyrule….you’re kind of a goof. Sometimes, you forget that not everyone can do what you do. Sometimes, you forget that you can do what you do. Sure, you get by well enough with a handsome face and an adventurous spirit. Link can easily attest to how much attention you get from the ladies and the men in any town you both visit. But you’re the type to jump in head first to a pond with all your clothes on. Only to realize at the moment of contact that you’ve just thrown yourself into a hot spring and will have to sit there and panic until you remember that you can just choose to not feel hot anymore. No matter how many times Link has advised you to use your head to think and not do.
But then you give him that goofy smile. You show him that despite your quirks, you’re the best travel buddy a guy could ever ask for. You show that despite your mistakes, you always manage to get by just fine.
And you show him that sometimes are worth jumping in head first for.
But this? This is not one of them.
Right now, this is the two of your trying to force your way through whiteout conditions in the middle of the Gerudo Highlands. At least you were until the sudden storm forced you two to a standstill until it blows over. The worst part is that you can’t even turn The two of you are here at a request. Fetching plant or animal or bug or whatever that Link can’t remember because he’s just too damn cold. Despite all of his layers, he spent his money on them. Despite the snow boots he had to barter and barter and barter for. And despite the goddess-awful spicy elixir you made for him to help him adjust to the temperature change, he still can’t feel his fingers.
But even with all his complaints that he’s too frozen stiff to voice, he does have one saving grace.
  He has you.
Being out in one of the infamous Gerudo Highland storms is never easy. It’s never fun, it’s never enjoyable, and it's even worse when he’s alone. He can’t recall how many times he got stuck out here, trying to find a cave or a light or anything just to find his bearing and get out of the storm until it blows over. But that was all before he met you. That was all before he started traveling with you.
Now, he’s still a bit miserable. With just how hard the wind blows? With just how hard he works for the people of Hyrule? He thinks he’s entitled to a little negativity here and there. But all those times he had to do it alone, were so much harder than this. Because while this might still be existing out in the freezing cold mountains next to the desert…this is also sitting inside a tent he barely helped pitch while you’re still outside messing with a second helping of Pumpkin Stew for the two of you.
And Link just can’t help but watch.
In between looks of concentration, there’s a smile on your lips as tiny little snowflakes pelt your pretty face. You’re just close enough to the tent that the fire manages to warm the very tip of Link’s nose and far enough away that the two of you don’t have to worry about any accidents in the middle of the night. But by the firelight, Link is able to see you. Almost perfectly in the mess of winter white blowing past the two of you.
And you look at ease outside despite the swirling elemental storm around you. You look at peace outside despite the fact that you had relinquished your jacket a long time ago to give Link a blanket so he doesn’t get too while stationary. It makes Link jealous. It makes him jealous that you don’t have to do a single thing to feel alright while he is stuck spending rupee after rupee to give himself a fighting chance.
But it also makes him glad.
Because you know that in moments like this, Link can’t handle the cold. Not like you do. Because in moments like this, you’re already stripping off your layers for more ease in your moments. And you’re wrapping your coat and your scarf around him without a single word and setting up the tent with minimal effort. You don’t fret when Link can do nothing but hold a stake still. You don’t. Instead, you jump in head first. You pitch the tent. You start the fire. You cook the food. You even slip Link a little more spicy elixir in his bowl to help with the taste. You do it all like it’s nothing. But without you?
Link feels like he would be nothing. Nothing but just a lone wanderer. Drifting away out in the cold. Wishing for the wind to die down. Wishing for the snow to slow its fall. Wishing he had something warm to wrap himself in.
Or something warm that he could wrap himself around.
But that’s the thing. He has that now. He has you. And so he’s thankful. He’s so thankful when you eventually make the short journey back into the tent with another bowl of stew for the two of you. He’s thankful that you’re careful about helping Link hold his bowl up to his mouth and drink it all in with eager sips. He’s thankful that you’re quick to peek your head out at the fire in front of the tent and tend to it as best as you can from your spot right next to him. And when all the work is said and done? When Link finds that he’s too tired to do anything but lay on his side and pass out? He’s thankful that you’re there too.
Laying right beside him. Wrapping your arms around him. Pulling yourself close to him. And raising your body temperature up higher and higher and higher. Until is good enough for two. And Link didn’t even have to ask. Link didn’t have to speak. Somehow you just knew. You just knew what he needed. You just knew. Or maybe…maybe you didn’t. But this was just another instance of you being you. Maybe this was just another moment of you jumping in head first. Being bold. Being brave.
And of being the best thing that could have ever happened to him.
Ever since the first time he woke up cold, alone, and afraid.

"Do you think I'm a cheater?"
Summary: Isekai!Reader has a dilemma. You remember your S/O in our world and talk to Link about it. You know, the Link you slept with. Based on this fic. Can be read stand alone. Read on Ao3
"Hey Link," you called out to him, as you idly drew random shapes on the dirt floor. The night was quiet, except for the cicadas; or whatever bug making the chirping noises, and the small fire crackling nearby. And of course the snoring.
After the postman incident, thoughts of your own world occupied you again. You had been distant and they noticed. You couldn't sleep as much either, but thanks to the lack of your fighting skills, there was always a Link with you, taking the turn for the watch duty.
"Yeah?" Wild replied softly, with a low volume.
"Do you think I'm a cheater?" You deadpanned, still playing with the stick, not looking at his face.
"What?" He looked perplexed. Did you mean the flirting and glances between you and the rancher? But again, it's not like what was between you and Wild was all that clear in the first place, even though you did share each other's bodies... Once, right before Chain. Then cuddled during trying times, showed affection to each other.
Oh.
Right. You never talked about your life on the other side. Sure, about how some things were in your world, education, maybe some economy. But almost never your personal life, and none of them ever pushed you.
Hell, you actively tried not to think about it, you let go in a way at some point, thinking you'd never see them again anyway, so YOLO?
But then seeing how you are now traveling between eras, didn't that mean you could go back to your own world at some point?
How cruel. How cruel that only after years you learn that there is a possibility.
You sighed.
"I... I actually have, or had, or have.." you stumbled upon your words, not knowing which tense to use.
"There is someone in my world... that is, or was my partner."
Your lips formed a line again, you were still not looking at him. Wild didn't speak for a moment, only understanding what you meant by cheating, just now. You heard some shuffling, he dropped down from the tree silently like a cat.
"(Y/N)..." he started speaking, you interrupted him.
"I know... We have been together for quite a while too, we lived together. But then I was suddenly somewhere else, some world else," you were trying to keep your low voice from trembling, holding back the bitter tears.
He just listened, cautiously moving near you, but not quite making contact.
"I- I ignored their existence since I thought I'd never see them again, then a couple of years passed and I ended up sleeping with someone else, uh, no offense," you were still not looking at him.
"Actually two at once," he snickered. Wild didn't know what to say, so he at least tried to lighten the mood.
"Not funny, not right now!" You hit his shoulder playfully. It was a little bit funny, at least you got distracted from your gloomy mood.
"(Y/N), you thought they were lost to you, forever. How can that be cheating?" He inquired, with a serious tone this time.
You knew he had a point. But that wasn't as straightforward as he thought.
"You are biased," you scoffed. "And look at the Old Man, he sure got to see his wife again. I bet he wouldn't... indulge, like I did." You gulped, guilt was clawing at you again, making it hard to breathe.
"Yeah what a fair comparison. He was thrown into a precarious situation constantly fighting and jumping worlds and guesses he'd probably see his Hyrule again, and you, who had a peaceful life in a village for years with no way to return to your home. Really, a great way to make yourself a big baddie," he said with a sarcastic tone, a tinge of scolding mixed in.
You paused. You have never heard Wild speak this much before. You just mumbled something about not having tried hard enough, still staring at the twig you had in your hand.
He moved closer and gently lifted your chin towards him, making your eyes meet. You melted a little inside, which only fed your guilt even more.
"Look..." he said. "Fine, it is complicated." He sighed, not breaking eye contact in the dimly lit night.
"But you didn't do anything wrong, okay?" He tried to assure you. You averted your gaze again.
"Now that we know... What does it mean, Link? If I can get back to my world one day, does that mean... we, I..."
You trailed off. Wild just listened.
This was really complicated, way too complicated. You didn't want to push him away, you were selfish.
Yet thinking of your partner, wrecked with the pain of losing you perhaps, while you were in the arms of another, receiving comfort? Your stomach was twisting.
After all, maybe they did find someone else already? Or were you merely trying to justify your actions?
Oh Gods, you bet Sky wouldn't think so highly of you. Old Man wouldn't either. None of them would.
As you mentally shuddered, you gave in and leaned on Wild, even if a bit awkwardly.
"Don't tell the others, will you?"
"It's your life to tell," he assured you as he put his arm around your shoulder as you both leaned on the tree. The turmoil of emotions wouldn't let you go further, but at least you enjoyed the companionship and understanding he offered for now.
"I will never judge you, no one can, not for this," he said softly.
You were glad, but guilt still ate at you. Between these legendary heroes, it made you feel small. Shouldn't you have had some type of undying love story?
"...and what if we end up in my world?" your voice but a whisper. He didn't reply immediately.
"We'll cross that bridge when it comes to it, I guess," he ghost shrugged. His eyes had a distant look.
"But I'll be there, okay?" He added somewhat awkwardly.
You gave him a weak smile as you nodded, not knowing what to say, what to do. You wanted him to kiss you, you wanted to be close. He probably wanted the same but didn't want to force a choice on you.
What comes next would be your own choice. How you wanted to proceed now, was your problem.
But he would be there, whatever you chose.
You leaned on the tree trunk as he wrapped an arm around your shoulders, then you slowly drifted off to sleep. A warmth with a tinge of guilt embraced you, giving you dreams of bridges and portals as you fell asleep.
And the face of your beloved.

thinking abt how ocarina of time era hyrule is essentially a segregated society
the civil war, which happens before the events of the game, and is the reason link grows up on kokiri forest at all, has no canonical explanation of why it happened, only that one it was done, the non-hylian races of hyrule kept to themselves. link had to get permission from the royal family to contact the zora and goron. we know for a fact ganondorf gave the hylian royal family gerudo territory when he swore fealty to them, though its likely hylians had been encroaching upon their land for some time before. like, why else would a civil war break out if not for hyrule exploiting/stealing/suppressing other racial groups?? we don't see a diverse military force until botw.
it seems to be a theme, that the races of hyrule only come together (under the crown, specifically) when a threat arises that endangers EVERYONE. to assume ganondorf started the civil war is, in my opinion, the easy, “don’t think about it” answer. and even if that was the case, it was most likely a Hylians vs. Everyone Else situation, meaning ganondorf took advantage of frustrations that had already been mounting for some time.
in twilight princess, which takes place a few hundred or so years after ocarina, things have gotten better (we see hylians living closer to other racial groups, more collaboration), but there's still a significant degree of separation, ie, hylian-only military (the resistance is hylian only, too). we also see a complete lack of gerudo, their desert a barren wasteland and the only surviving proof they existed being their writing, most of which is found in arbiter's grounds, a... PRISON... if the losing sides of the civil war were forced to swear fealty (the gerudo seem to be the only group that gave up land, as hylians can't access death mountain/zora's domain without permission), the punishment for trying to overthrow the hylian royal family...! banishment at best, mass execution at worse. probably both!
like. there's so much interesting shit that is brought up in ocarina. i'm not even touching on the sheikah/shadow temple and the implications of THAT. its so incredibly interesting and, shocker, when a world/government/people/whatever are deeply flawed instead of of blandly benevolent and Good Because We Say So, it actually is Good Worldbuilding. do i think zelda writers did this on purpose? i dont fucking know because they never bring it up again. hyrule is just portrayed, over and over and over again, as this pure, holy kingdom that has never done anything wrong in its entire existence, despite IN GAME! IN TEXT! evidence to the contrary. like, the games we play feel like hylian propaganda. AND ISNT THAT INTERESTING???? imagine if we could unpack that? totk could've been a perfect opportunity. (but they dropped, the ball, as always, who is shocked)
its no accident. that our heroes are blonde with blue eyes. that our main villain is a caricature of Evil Brown Man. fans do not like to talk about it, they do not want to admit it. but there are clear themes staring us right in the face and it blows my mind that no one seems to want to do anything with it. the idea of hyrule being a deeply flawed land whos history is defined by conflict (stemming from its own citizens oftentimes) is extremely interesting and makes it unique. i want my stories to be gray. i want my characters to be conflicted. my GOD.

I’m so curious, obviously for years Lincoln has had complicated feelings about Warriors as his son but what were Ganondorf’s thoughts on what he heard about Warriors?
May I introduce you to the biggest thorn in Lincoln and Ganondorf's marriage?
So the story starts long before they ever got married. In fact, Ganondorf was happily married to his first wife when Lincoln barged into his palace, pale-faced because he just found out that the woman he almost married was pregnant with what is probably his child. Delightful.
They both agreed that Lincoln had to do the right thing and step up, even if Ganondorf was a little sad about the idea of his best friend getting married.
Luckily, Lincoln still didn't marry Marigold. However, the conversation where he had to tell Ganondorf that he wasn't going to be in Link's life was... interesting. Ganondorf could not understand how Lincoln could walk away from his own child. Lincoln insisted that he was only walking away because Marigold insisted, but Ganondorf fully believed that Lincoln should ignore Marigold's wishes and do whatever it would take to be in Link's life.
This argument got bad. Really bad. They ended up agreeing to drop the subject and not bring it up again, but it was a real sore spot for many years.
Even when they married, Ganondorf never dared to broach the topic. Lincoln was still sensitive about the whole ordeal and Ganondorf... I wouldn't call Ganondorf insecure. He's a very confident man. But he is very aware that since he can't leave the palace, there are parts of Lincoln's life he can never reach. Sometimes, it's easier to pretend that those untouchable parts of Lincoln's life just simply don't exist.
It was easier to bury any concerns Ganondorf had about Lincoln's bastard child than to risk disrupting the seemingly delicate balance of their relationship. (He didn't realize that the balance wasn't delicate and that their marriage was rock-solid, but he would figure that out eventually).
Then the war started.
This hasn't come up in story yet, but canonically, Lincoln and Ganondorf had no contact during the two years Hyrule was in the War of Eras. Why? Because Lincoln knew he was being watched and monitored by the Sheikah. He didn't dare to even send a coded letter to Ganondorf in fear that it would reveal Ganondorf's existence to Impa.
Lincoln and Ganondorf mutually agreed to this (and had some great goodbye sex about it), but it was still hard going no-contact for two whole years.
Unable to leave his palace, Ganondorf had to content himself with whatever rumors he heard about Lincoln from his own messengers.
Lincoln and the Hero of Hyrule hate each other? That was going to be one hell of a conversation to have, but nothing that pegged Ganondorf as worrisome.
That Lincoln legitimized a second, previously unknown bastard out of nowhere? What the fuck?
Ganondorf trusts Lincoln to the ends of the earth. He always believed Lincoln to be a good, honor man who would never lie to him. But by the ancestors, this one tested him.
And he had to stew in that for two years. Two. Whole. Years.
When the war ended and Lincoln was certain that Impa was no longer interested in spying on him, he finally went to the Gerudo Fortress for a long awaited reunion.
And listen, Lincoln's not an idiot. He figured Ganondorf got wind of what happened. He just didn't expect this to trigger the biggest fight of their marriage.
Ganondorf finally unloaded years worth of disappointment he had for Lincoln not being a father to his own kid. And when Lincoln finally explained the story behind Linkle, Ganondorf then was furious that Lincoln would try to keep him a secret from her.
Lincoln still insisted that respecting Marigold's wishes was the right thing to do, though Link turning out to be a terrible person didn't hurt his case. As for Linkle, he kept reminding Ganondorf that his existence had to be kept a secret and it wouldn't be right to unload the weight of that secret onto a child.
Ganondorf ended up kicking Lincoln out of the palace. He wasn't allowed back in for two weeks.
Here's the thing: Ganondorf is a king. Not only that, but he's good at being the king. Logically speaking, he knew that Lincoln was right about not telling Linkle the truth. But it's the principle of the matter, and he didn't want Lincoln to think he could ever get away with this again.
When they finally talked again, they were both calmer and willing to talk it out. Basically, they came to a bit of a truce:
Lincoln admitted that he was wrong for not stepping up to be Link's dad, though his blame for what Link did since stops there
Ganondorf and Lincoln would agree to disagree about how much Link's long list of atrocities are Lincoln's fault
While Ganondorf can insist that Lincoln deserves some of the blame, he also agrees that it may be too late for Lincoln to repair his relationship with Link
Lincoln will tell Linkle about Ganondorf the moment she is ready to hold that secret, whether she's an adult or a still a kid
When it's time, Lincoln has to introduce Linkle to Ganondorf himself (Linkle spends so much time in Gerudo Town that Ganondorf could feasibly force their meeting, but he knows that this is something Lincoln has to do himself)
Lincoln has to at least consider trying to reach out to Link in a neutral manner (or, at the very least not try to ruin his life out of spite)
If Ganondorf ever learns that Lincoln has another bastard child running around from anyone who isn't Lincoln himself, then he's going to divorce his ass and throw him into the dungeon

So for the evil!Rauru idea, am I correct in thinking the premise is/would be that he got corrupted by the Malice/Gloom in the thousands of centuries he was sealing Ganondorf? note for future: sucking the evil energy out of someone probably not good for health
same anon as the 'did the gloom corrupt Rauru' post, scrolled down and immediately found the post which tells me I'm wrong. (that said, is Gloom a seperate thing from Ganondorf or was he simply corrupted by his own power?)
I swear I'm gonna make a TOTK AU with Evil Rauru now.
To answer your question: I think Rauru is already somewhat sinister and manipulative without the influence of magic substances, but he absolutely could get worse from the Gloom!
But before we talk about him and our dear Ganondorf, let's talk about the nature of Malice and Gloom.
(WARNING: This is going to be long. Read at your own risk.)
Here's what Breath of the Wild tells us about Malice:
"MALICE: Poisonous bogs formed by water that was sullied during the Great Calamity. Coming into contact with one will hurt you."
Meanwhile, Gloom in Tears of the Kingdom appears to be more along the lines of toxic chemical/magical waste deposits deep underground.
You might wonder why Gloom Spawn (or Gloom Hands) exist then, if Gloom refers to deposits and are not sentient. I personally like the idea that Link does get affected from exposure to Gloom, and it messes with his mind, giving him paranoia about his own arm turning on him (hence the Gloom Hands). In other words, Gloom has the power to amplify your strongest emotion or dominant thought, and I think thematically that would be nice for Link, to understand that courage is not the absence of fear, but the presence of fear and being able to keeping standing in spite of it.
But I digress. To be completely truthful, I feel like both substances are poorly named, Malice and Gloom, and would switch them.
Why?
If you notice, Rauru has the Hylians constantly mine for Zonaite. But the Depths are abundant with Gloom. He was actively putting the Hylian society in danger to gain something out of it, and was threatening other societies (in a very kind and benevolent way of course) so they would not interfere. It's kind of a compelling villain arc, that at the end of the day, he's looking out for his people, the Zonai, and subjugating the "less civilized" Hylians to help him meet his ends.
Isn't that much more... malicious?
(I wonder how Sonia would have felt about it.)
So Gloom = Malice. Good so far?
Now, let's reverse it: Malice = Gloom.
The Malice we see in Breath of the Wild, I would still attribute to Ganondorf's doing. The Calamity is a manifestation of his sorrow and grief at the fact that despite what Zelda and he had done, the kingdoms fell under the banner of Hyrule. Rauru won. Even if it Rauru didn't get to see it himself, it still happened. It was like all Ganondorf and Zelda had worked for was nothing. And knowing that Zelda was up there, flying for a purpose that seems to be fruitless, pains Ganondorf. His Calamity is what he is experiencing. And it spills out to the rest of Hyrule (because I love when powers flare from emotions). What he doesn't realize is that he's hurting his Zelda, who watches the Calamity emerge in horror.
But anyways, nomenclature is not the hugest issue, so whenever I'm gonna refer to Gloom or Malice don't switch them, Gloom is Gloom and Malice is Malice. I just wanted to talk a little bit about the two and why their names seem to complement each other rather than themselves.
Now, onto the corruption!
I like to think that given that Ganondorf had just as much arrogance as Rauru. When he meant to seal Rauru underground, he thought he could withstand the Gloom, as it came from the world he was born into, while the Zonai came from the sky, so it would be uncharted territory to them. But in reality, it ate away at Ganondorf, and messed with his mind just like it did Link's. The secret stone on his forehead was meant to keep the corruption at bay. Unfortunately, it could only slow down the process. And so he feels trapped in his mind, and acts out because of it, misleading Link to think he is the King of Darkness.
Meanwhile, Rauru is dead, but his arm still exists (as it's on Link), so I can imagine the Gloom amplifying his lust for conquest and a "new" Hyrule (since the old one has been decimated by the Calamity). He thinks he can do this by persuading Link to save Zelda and earn "Light of Blessings" -- which is actually just short for acquiring enough of Rauru's "light" essence for Rauru to take over.
Which reasons out my post regarding how Rauru controls Link's hand!

I am very curious about the Ford in Hyrule fic! Mind talking a little about it?
Heeheeheehoohoo!!!
So this lil idea was born out of my love of seeing a world through a completely third party observer’s eyes- I’m doing the same thing pretty much with my Steven Universe OC work right now, but when it came to Zelda (and specifically the world of Breath of the Wild) I thought it would be super fun to explore Hyrule through the eyes of a dimension hopping Ford Pines.
This story takes the form of numerous journal entries written down by him over the months he’s wandering this place… and desperately trying to find a portal that will lead him out of here. For this one I am using the headcanon that he cannot create his OWN portals, but rather has to find natural fissures in the dimensions he lands in to hop to the next. And this makes things pretty difficult here, as the moment he lands his rift compass starts acting up. (This is actually because of the Calamity, which is interfering with the signal… but of course, he doesn’t know that yet.)
Basically, not too long after Ford starts wandering around here, unbeknownst to him Link awakens on the Great Plateau and sets things in motion for the Calamity to wake up, but like… Ford is just an observer. So he spends much of the next year exploring the region, sourcing any interesting pieces of tech he can to integrate into his quantum destabilizer, and trying to figure out how to re-calibrate the right compass to hop to the next dimension.
Snippet:
_
Journal entry #8539
Day 2
At first glance, this world is a vessel of stark contrasts.
A barren land, strewn with ruins of a civilization long past… and yet irrevocably alive. The wide bounty of wildlife, so similar to the creatures of my own dimension in form, are no doubt the true rulers of this place. Thick young-growth forests blanket these rolling hills all the way to the horizon, practically bursting at the seams with deer, wild boar, foxes, squirrels, and wolves. A diverse variety of avian species populate the vast skies. If I’m honest, such unfettered freedom amidst the local fauna is not a sight I often see in a lot of the more technologically advanced dimensions I frequent, and that saddens me. There’s just something so ephemeral and intimate about observing the daily routines of critters in their natural habitats. (And it’s a large reason why I began my cryptozoologic research in the first place.)
Of course, as I mentioned briefly in my last entry, the crumbling remains of former houses, barracks, and marketplaces (among countless other facilities I cannot even begin to guess the purpose of) exist as gaping scars amidst this otherwise pristine wilderness. While the broad grasslands I currently traverse certainly seem peaceful on the surface, all the lingering rubble and rust paints a dire picture of this realm’s history. Dented, tarnished swords lay long-abandoned in the dirt. Scattered humanoid remains pepper the edges of settlements like garish confetti. Certain structures are now housed by small troops of tribal, flat-nosed creatures the likes of which I have never seen, a species which must be unique to this dimension. Since these were the first tool-wielding creatures I had encountered in this world, I briefly considered making contact to learn more about their customs and capacity for communication, but after observing their nature from afar for quite some time, I determined it unwise to approach. While seeming endlessly loyal to each other, this species quickly proved to be intensely territorial upon the approach of those who were not a part of their tribe. I watched them all take arms against a lizard-like creature who made the mistake of hunting too close. Suffice it to say, that lizard was not long for the world.
I shan’t be making the same mistake.
Once I complete my sketches of some fauna for this entry, I aim to head east. I can spot a smoke signal in the distance, and I’d very much like to make contact with some non-hostile inhabitants soon, if possible.

LU Headcanon’s Part 2: Electric Boogaloo
THE EDGY BOOOOOYY
[Legend it’s Legend’s turn]
Would rather saw off his legs than wear pants
Could and would probably slap Hylia if given the chance
These are my headcanons so therefore I make the rules and so I say he is 100% engaged to Ravio
Legend is an insomniac, and has gone a total of 71 hours and 42 minutes without crashing before
Is absolute besties with Hilda and Styla, despite one being from another country and the other being from an alternate dimension, it doesn’t stop him
“Bureaucracy will never beat a shift iron rod to the kneecaps.”
Agender icon [He/She/It]
!!Hyrule!!A baby!!
Can’t read, and therefore can’t read a map [hence getting lost at any given point] because he was never taught how
“Yes, ma’am/sir!”
Wouldn’t often go into large towns in his Hyrule, and is often overwhelmed and scared of large crowds, so when they go to another or go to a town in their current one, will cling to Legend’s arm like a baby koala
“There are young and innocent ears in the room, and by that I mean Roolie.” “Gah?!”
I’m pretty sure it’s LoZ canon that he would be blood-relatives with Legend so I’m gonna make him and Legend have similar mannerisms and faces [Hyrule has a more rounded/babyish face and button nose, while Legend has sharper eyes and flat yet tall nose]
They have the same confused and pouting expressions
Even more broke™
Snorts when he laughs
Twirls a lock of hair on his neck when nervous
It’s fucking WIMDY
Wind’s Hylian is based on Polynesian [Mainly Samoan, Tokelauan, and Tuvaluan]
“I lived on a WARSHIP-“ ok I’ll stop
The absolute BEST BIG BROTHER in the W O R L D
Uses the word fuck like a comma
Probably a medium
Misses Linebeck :[[
Has a thing with large birds, things like seagulls and small birds he has no problem, but if there any larger than half his size he’ll lock up, and will always make sure it’s where he can see it
Has to keep a notebook of EVERYTHING after Phantom Hourglass, cause he still isn’t entirely sure if the journey actually happened or if it was just one big hallucination caused by the Ghost Ship
Wind and Tetra’s love language is beating the shit outta one another
The OG problem child
Loves Sun so fucking much he cannot even stand it
Princess Peach lips mf
Is a narcoleptic
Has trouble breathing on the surface, it’s hardly ever too serious unless he seriously overexerts himself but there will pretty much always be a slight wheeze to his breathing
Is mostly stressed about leaving Sun not just cause he misses her, but because he doesn’t know what could happen if he’s not there, especially since last time he WASN’T she was taken
!!Him and Groose are now besties!!
Good for him good for him
Little to no reaction during a switch
Weather is both his best friend and mortal enemy
The scariest when angry
Will cry at the drop of a hat and doesn’t know what to do about it
“No one will know the violence it took to become this gentle.”
FINALLY ON BRAND
Is very careful about not stepping on small things
Is pretty fuckin’ sick of Vaati at this point
“It’s funny when short people threaten me, like what are you gonna do?” “Say goodbye to your kneecaps asshole”
Thought of this when I first read the manga when I was like 13
So I often draw/write Four like a fusion from Steven Universe
No I don’t take constructive criticism
“This is who we are, this is who I am.”
Did he exist before the blade split him? Yes. But when he merged for the first time afterwards was he basically a new person? Also yes.
I rest my case
Misses Shadow :[[[[[[
Has a tooth gap!!
!!Has rainbow colored eyes!!

Speaking of Flooding people's inboxes. Behold! A BackseatDriver!Reader treat. Also I feel Warriors would absolutely abuse the fact he and Reader are friends to push the others' buttons.
You sighed happily as you stretched out your tired arms before slumping into the outrageously comfortable armchair Lana had gifted you. Twirling a strand of magic around your fingers, you pondered what to do with your free afternoon.
Your life was very different from your previous one, and that was without even counting the magic and potential existential crisis of living in a Video Game World.
(But you justified it as this world just being a reality unto itself and your old world had just picked up on its existence. Magic could be funny like that.)
In your old world, you had been resigned to the slow grind of a 9-5 job or something similar as you struggled to make ends meet. You did miss it, in a strange way along with your old friends and family and activities, but gaining your own body had softened those memories and time now let you look back on them with fondness instead of fathomless grief and longing as you once did when trapped in the mind of Cia.
But now, you had new friends and activities and a whole set of timelines at your feet. Not to mention magic.
Lana was a wonderful mentor and friend, helping you get used to your new body and magic. And while she occasionally had her fits due to Ganon's deep influence, Cia was also incredibly entertaining with her sharp sense of humour.
Both of the Sorceresses were currently making repairs to the chamber where they would observe the timelines, the marks still there from when Ganon had snuck in. Both of them had also scoured the entire Temple from top to bottom, practically slathering the entire place in protective wards so that no evil would ever be able to enter again.
(Although you had been the one to take down all of the creepy portraits of Link as well as all of the statues. You had taken great joy in destroying all of them.)
It was delicate work and was best done by the two who knew their craft the best (and would still be around to maintain it in who knows how many centuries).
So you were left with a free afternoon.
Which meant you had time to visit your boys.
___________________________________________________________
The morning had been rife with a battle against Black Blooded Monsters and it was almost unconsciously unanimously decided that they would set up camp and rest for the remainder of the day.
Warriors sat and idly cleaned his sword after shedding his armour as a low relaxed level of conversation floated around him. It had been a long couple of days, made longer by a noticeable absence.
You hadn't been by in a while, having mentioned that Lana and Cia had you running all sorts of errands all over the place. He'd known it was coming, but it still didn't stop him from looking up occasionally hoping to see you pop out of a portal and he knew the others had the same feelings.
With one final swipe of a rag, he resheathed his sword and set it down.
"Knock, knock!"
His head snapped up as Wind cried out your name with a loud joyful cheer and ran towards you. The two of you collided and you let out a bright laugh as you hugged Wind back tightly, their youngest hero always having to have the first hug.
You ran an affectionate hand over his head and eased him off. You clearly listened to his excitable greetings as you greeted the others with brief hugs and hand squeezes.
(After the war and after you'd gotten your own body, you had admitted late one night that you felt very touch starved due to a total lack of friendly contact for most of your existence in Hyrule. Warriors hadn't even thought twice before offering a hug which had turned into a pleasant yet self-inflicted longing cuddle session as you let out all of the pain and suffering you had been suppressing in favour of survival.
After that, he always made sure hugs were available to you. Not that it was any hardship at all to touch you.)
Eventually, you reached him and leaned down to hug him in greeting, only to be pulled into his lap in a fit of mischief. He could practically feel the almost jealous stares from the others as you squeaked and laughed in his arms.
"Hello, my lovely favourite magical friend. And how are you?"
"Wars, lemme out! And I'm fine. I missed all of you though." You said not really putting much effort into escaping. You got like this sometimes. Just craving a friendly touch and Warriors was more than happy to provide it.
Even if he had competition in the form of eight other heroes.
"We missed you too." He hummed as he tightened his grip around your waist when Twilight narrowed his eyes playfully.
It wouldn't be the first time that a near game of Keep Away would breakout with you as the prize.
Wind finally butted in with stars in his eyes as he knelt by your feet and rested his arms on your knees.
"You'll never believe what happened when you were gone." He said and you turned your attention to him fully.
It was something that Warriors adored about you. You always gave your full attention as best you could to whoever you were talking to and it felt wonderful to have someone just listen for once.
Warriors idly ran his thumb over your hip and nearly smirked at the subconscious shiver that rippled through you.
Several pairs of eyes narrowed at him and he gave them all a sharp grin.
He had no qualms about sharing you nor accepting whatever feelings his brothers in sprirt had for you because you were just that wonderful.
That didn't mean he was going to just let them have you all to themselves though.
Insanity!!!! AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
I'm adding this to the Masterlist as well. What on earth?
Not to mention that now there's a tag for this. It's Mulan! Link all over again. <3
Warrior you jerk- don't stop being you, honey. You met them first. Go get 'em!

It’s been a rough couple of weeks, since the dance, and Sheik was doing his best to not panic every time he saw the King watching him or Zelda moved a bit too close while they were in public. It wasn’t as if their—relationship was a secret anymore, but that didn’t make him entirely comfortable either. If anything, it set him more on edge. Far more on edge than he would ever verbally tell the Princess. Especially when he knows it would probably hurt her. But lately, it seemed to be weighing on her a bit. The way Sheik pulled away. He can see it taking a bit of a toll on her and that was the last thing he wanted. Then, par for his position, he got sent off. The job wasn’t hard, not really, it was just how far away that he got sent that was the problem and then how long the job itself actually took. Collecting intel, sending it back, waiting for replies, planning the course of action itself and then—the actual execution. One week led into two and then before he knew it he had been gone for a month. Part of him, the mallituous part, can’t help but feel that the King of Hyrule had planned it too. Planned for Sheik to be gone that long to do something, whatever that actually was. Considering how rushed he actually made the job once it was pushed into action, he knows he was supposed to be gone longer too. He makes the journey back to Hyrule far faster than he had the journey to his destination, walking days without rest. At one point he had stopped in a Fairy Fountain, trying to ease his head and sleep at least a couple hours. Once he managed to cross the border back into Hyrule, sleep deprived or not, he felt much more at easy though the knot in his chest still seemed to exist. His hair was a mess, there was dried blood on his uniform, but Sheik made for the Castle instead of his house. Abnormal, usually he took the chance to clean up, but he couldn’t seem to rest his head. His mind constantly spinning and worrying. He took the shorter route around, slipping through the back ends of Castle Town without paying attention to the people of the place. Once he was through the gate he asked a soldier quietly of Princess Zelda’s whereabouts. It seemed, at the very least, he didn’t need to look too hard. They had a visiting guest, and she had been ordered to show them around. This? Wasn’t unusual either. She was to be Queen, mingling was important for her status. The irrational grip on his heart was not something he should be feeling. He found her in the gardens, that maze like place with the window into the Throne Room. He didn’t spare even a glance to whomever she was supposed to be paying attention to, his gaze entirely focused on the woman standing amongst the flowers. The sun was bright today, and the way it framed her face was simply breathtaking. A great deal of the tension that had been locked in his body seemed to simply ease away, the knot around his heart loosening just a bit. He moved silently amongst the flowers himself, stepping right up into her line of sight. A second to take her in, a moment for his eyes to meet hers, and then Sheik reached for her. The mask is pulled down, his calloused fingers brush along her cheeks before holding her face and then he just leaned down. His lips against hers, his body moving into her space. He can feel the heat of her skin, her breath mingling with his own and it’s elating, it’s warming and he simply wants all of her against him in every way imaginable. When he pulls back he doesn’t move far, wanting to keep the contact between them. He can feel his lips still brushing against her own when he speaks. “You are my home.” Soft, gentle. “And I’m home.” @guideoftime
The weeks that followed the banquet were….challenging, to say the least. She would have needed to be delirious to believe everything was okay between her and Sheik after the events that took place that night, or the ones that had followed. When Zelda had seen Sheik leaving her father’s office that day, she’d been a conflicted mess of rage and sorrow. In all their years together, she was certain she had never seen Sheik cry, not even when they were children — yet he’d left her father’s office with eyes glistening and redder than usual, and her heart had broken.
The days after that were worse. Sheik had grown distant, hardly speaking with her, pulling away anytime she tried to move close, always having an excuse to be somewhere else — anywhere else — save for when he was the only one around to look after her. Even then he’d kept quiet and at a distance, and she’d been afraid their relationship had been snuffed out far quicker than it’d ever been lit.
It was only a day or two later that Sheik left Hyrule, and she hadn’t even been given a chance to say goodbye. Was this her punishment for the way she’d stormed into her father’s office, demanding he explain himself and whatever demented manipulation he’d used against Sheik? Or had this been Sheik’s own doing? His request to go anywhere, be anywhere, other than the castle?
Days morphed to weeks, and she was used to that. But when weeks evolved into a full month, her heart ached at his absence. She hadn’t told him goodbye. And she’d received no updates on his mission or whereabouts. Was this her father’s idea of a cruel lesson? Or worse, had the King of Hyrule sent the Sheikah off to his death? Assigning him an impossible task that he knew would eventually be his demise?
To add insult to injury, a handsome lord had arrived in Hyrule, and he was to be their guest for the coming weeks. He was to speak of trade routes and ways the two kingdoms could be of aid to one another, but the Princess of Hyrule hadn’t been naive enough to believe that story. He was a suitor, carefully selected by her father, and his reason for being in Hyrule was nothing more than a carefully crafted story (with coincidentally impeccable timing). She knew this, which was why it came as no surprise when she’d been assigned to show him around the palace, help him become familiarized with his temporary home.
It didn’t matter how handsome he was — he could flash all the pretty smiles of gleaming white teeth he wanted. He could offer her flowers or try to spoil her with sweet nothings, but that was all they would ever be, nothings.
Because her heart still belonged to Sheik, even if he had pulled back. Even if he had left without saying goodbye. Even if he might be dead. Her heart was undeniably and irrevocably his.
A week and a half in and she’d yet again been assigned to spending the day with the lord, and Farore above how much longer could they continue with this charade? If he hadn’t grasped his bearings around the palace in the past eleven days then it was useless and he had no business remaining here. There were only so many new things she could show him when she knew they’d covered every square inch of the castle possible, even having to escort him through the gardens. This was her gardens — her special place. He belonged in the Royal Gardens no more than he belonged in Hyrule, much less the castle.
He’d been babbling on about the unity of his country and Hyrule, what the alliance would mean for both kingdoms, and she’d given up pretending to listen or care days ago. If was in these moments of his infinite ramblings that she’d slipped away — her body was still there, but her mind was somewhere far off. Where was Sheik? Was he still alive? Why hadn’t he returned home by now?
Painted lips that matched the color of the garden’s roses were pressed into a thin line as she stared blankly at the shrubbery, allowing her mind to wander when she suddenly saw a figure creeping about the flowers. Though she’d become deaf to the lord and his ceaseless spew of words, she was still very aware of their surroundings, very aware that they were not alone.
As the figure stepped forward in her peripheral, Zelda was quick to turn her head, gaze snapping in the direction of the intruder, and that was when she saw him.
Sheik.
To be frank, he looked worse for wear, and she couldn’t decide what he needed more — sleep or a bath. His hair was a disheveled, knotted, and dirty mess. Stains of a deep red were impossible to miss on his uniform, and she knew it was blood from whatever asinine assignment he’d been given this time. Purple bags outlined the under part of his eyes, and if she squinted hard enough she could have sworn his suit was torn in a few spots.
And yet he was the most glorious sight she’d ever seen.
Tumblr media
For a moment she was positive that her heart had stopped beating in her chest, a tight grasp constricting around it as a silence lingered between the two, their eyes locked. She hadn’t even been able to breathe, watching anxiously as he stared back at her before he reached forward. That movement, such a simple action, was all she’d needed to be coaxed into stepping forward, watching as he makes quick work of tugging his mask down. It takes only a second before rough hands are caressing her smooth cheeks, the tips of his fingers boring into her flesh before he leans down, his lips on her own. She feels the way his body, dirty uniform and all, presses flush against her, and the grime is the least of her worries. His lips are soft and warm, his taste earthy, and gloved fingers trail up his chest, finding their way to his matted golden locks as she presses closer, no longer aware of the lord that stood only feet away.
She could have lived in that moment forever, savoring every second of it and the way he felt. It was a feeling she wished to permanently burn into her memory, but it ends all too soon as Sheik pulls away. To her relief, he doesn’t go far — she can still feel his body flush against her own, his lips grazing against her with each word he speaks. And the words, they register on pointed ears, making her heart thrum at a rapid pace.
Home. He’d called her his home.
And try as she might to stop herself, there was no preventing the first stream of tears that roll down her cheeks, but they were different this time. A saccharine smile pulls at the corner of her lips before she rolls forward, bridging that minuscule gap so she may kiss him once more, softer, a simple peck before returning to the way they’d been only a second before. “I have never prayed so hard to the Goddesses for your safe return. I love you, Sheik. You hold my heart.”

Other sprout of questions from the language info incoming.
Twi speaks canine because of a spark, obviously. So do Sky for Bird, Shadow for cat and draconic and Green for "the Earth" (which I am very curious about by the way but it's probably ✨spoiler✨ so don't Hope for much yet).
Others cases however are more unclear and intriguing, both for how the language was learnt and how It even existed in the First place.
Both Legend and ravio know rabbit. Do they only know It because of a Spark? If so, how did they happen to have such similar Sparks? They seem pretty unique, so two different ones having the same effect seems sus:)
Legend knows Mer, and that'sst probably because of a Spark, but how did Wind learn It? Pure stubborness about the Sea being his thing or something else?
Time knows a lot of languages connected to mythical being, so that leads me to suspect that either the Woods he lived in or some of the places he timetravels to were actually Rich in magic and magical creatures, but this cannot be expanded Upon because ✨ spoilers ✨. The reason Hyrule also knows fae can be explained away by her Spark being faery related. But Warriors also knows fae. Once Is chance, two Is Is suspicious but ok, but three different people from different backgrounds and different Sparks Just so happening to know all the language of a supposedly mythical people? Suspicious isn't enough. There /has/ to be a somewhat secret non human community even in the moderna era! the question Is, was It Spark caused? And Is It still unknown to the autorities? (Probably ✨ spoiler ✨ heavy, so don't Need to answer this One, I Just had to dump the theory 😅. Backup question Is, how did Wars learn Fae?)
Last(for now) but not least, how the heck did Wild learn korok and most importantly, horse!?!?!?!? Koroks can turn invisible, so i can ser some sneaking about unknown to the people of the facility, but how did Wild even get the chance to come in contact with a horse? I don't immagine the handlers would be thrilled to let a freshly whiped amnesiac wander about, but he somehow /did/ get the chance to meet a horse and learn the language. How?!?!?!?
:D
(Sorry It was long, didn't think It would be good to split in more ask without becoming disjointed. Also, yes, I am still thinking about the treasure trove of info that was the language post:DDD)
<3
Green can speak “earth” in the sense that he can sense the emotions and intent of the earth around him and can give commands or requests. This allows home to predict and cause things from tremors to earthquakes and avalanches.
Veteran was one of the few who came into the project with a spark, a rabbit transformation spark. Because of this Ravio also has a Rabbit spark but his is a “constant mutation spark” that gives him physical features such as ears tail and a bit of a funny face. While Ravio can speak English it’s easier for him to speak in the little noises on a rabbit.
Wind learnt Mer through shanties and ship tales from sailors who had claimed to have met such creatures or were telling tales from myths and legends or warnings. When he then me Veteran they compared his knowledge to what Vet spoke and discovered it was pretty accurate.
Rule knows fae via his transformation spark
Warriors knows fae via his summoning spark
Time knows fae via his imitation spark
One of Wild’s sparks allows him to see into the dimensional pocket that the Koroks exist in, it also gives him an understanding and ability to communicate with them. He’s can’t just start speaking in the language but he can’t talk to those who use it.
He’s a horse girl, he’s slowly teaching Time and Twi too.
Side note: not all languages are known before the boys entered the facility, some weren’t learnt until after they became a knight.

Personally, I really don't like angst because another reason to cry? No thank you haha, but at the same time I absolutely love OOT zelink, which is angsty pretty much no matter how you look at it.
Long story short, no, I haven't finished either MM or Oot (procrastination at its finest) but I like to think that after the events of MM Link finds his way back to Hyrule. Obviously no one remembers what happened and that's hard for him~ especially with Zelda. But then every once in a while she starts to remember just snippets of the other timeline and its fluffy because I just want them to be happy ;-; (this is me denying the existence of the heros shade lol) So here's a Lil somethin
~~“Do I know you?”
Link felt his heart skip a beat, the weight of numerous eyes on him. He shifted his weight nervously from foot to foot, almost tempted to run but something rooted him in place.
Zelda was watching him curiously, elegant azure eyes married as she studied him, her smile pleasant. Everything from her thick golden hair to the smooth and effortless moments of her lithe body. She wore a gilded crown upon her head, though its weight seemed much more bearable than he’d ever seen before.
Link couldn’t move as her attendants stared and the guards began to murmur, each as intrigued by the strange figure that had found his way into the castle walls. It was all so familiar, to the shrubs that line the path, statues frozen in the same poses, and even the way the sun glinted against the princess’s hair. Link wanted to reach for the princess, to be in her arms and feel her warmth against him like he did so many years ago- before he’d been torn from that troubled Hyrule. He wanted nothing more than to feel the safety her companionship had brought him.
But as Link looked into her eyes he knew his desires were in vain. She held no memories of their time together, of the peril they’d endured at each other’s side, or any moment of comfort they had shared. Zelda’s eyes no longer held the pain and grief Link had seen, and for that, he couldn’t help but smile. She no longer carried the pain that had burdened her for seven long years, and for once she smiled without a car in the world, eyes bright and so full of life.
“No,” Link replied, barely trusting his voice as he smiled sadly, “no, I don’t believe we know each other, You Highness,” he swept into a polite bow, “my name is Link.”
“Link,” she murmured, something lighting behind her wise eye, “Link,” she repeated.
Again Link met her eyes, his heart burning as she tilted her head, a glimmer of recognition passing in her expression. All too soon her attendants tugged at her arm, muttering and imploring her to return the duties awaiting her inside. She followed begrudgingly, still keeping contact with Link who couldn’t look away. He held onto that recognition he saw, taking the hope he felt and tucking it away to protect its fragile flame.

I feel like I remember you mentioning vampire social hierarchy/government once, care to expound further??
(you don't have to answer all of these, please no pressure! I'm just curious)
🦇
Vampire governments don't really exist in Hyrule but Hyrule still has a hierarchy!
Vampire hierarchy is based mostly on age, as there is a correlation between age and strength/power. Older vampires (AKA vampires that have existed for a long time) are more powerful, so they tend to be in charge. They also know the rules with the humans as they helped make those rules. Even small vampire groups/covens, like the group in Hyrule, will have hierarchies and somebody who is in charge of the coven. There is also hierarchy based on sires (vampires tend to be more submissive to the vampire who turned them) but that doesn't exist in every vampire group. Sometimes vampires just become friends and form a coven.
Vampires are very social so they like to group up, even if it's just living with another vampire or two. They also like to hang out with humans and just be friends with them. There is the odd vampire who tend to form more relationships with humans than other vampires.
Vampire governments exist abroad, and they mostly exist so that vampires can coexist peacefully with humans. It's in their interest that humans don't have a reason to hunt them and to keep people alive and healthy so they're around to be a regular source of blood (assuming people want to do this, vampires are big on consent and will not randomly feed from people). The governments are there to help vampires, but they also police vampires. Vampires who cause trouble and don't care for humans are taken out either by other vampires, by professional vampire hunters, or with a vampire and a human teaming up for it.
The vampire government is also generally in constant contact with powerful human families to keep their relationship in good standing. This is super important in Hyrule because those with Hylia's blood can quite easily kill vampires. Everybody in the royal family is aware of the vampires, even though the public at large isn't.
Warriors is a weird spot because his vampirism is the product of a curse, not from another vampire. He follows the the hierarchy of Hylian coven, although he doesn't get along with all of them, he does like the leader and does recognize her authority as the most powerful vampire in Hyrule. However, he will not take kindly to vampires abroad trying to involve him their governments/covens. He also doesn't want to hurt people, so he doesn't go against them, but he isn't interested in recognizing the authority of vampires he isn't going to see a lot.

random headcanon:  Ganondorf’s Parents, Birth, Youth
Ganondorf’s birth mother fought under the Gerudo Queen during the Hylian Civil War as a highly skilled mounted archer. During a battle, she was thrown when her horse was injured in a chaotic fray. The man who found her and her struggling mount was a Hylian blacksmith who, rather than treat her as an enemy, took both she and her horse in to aid in their recovery.
The Gerudo army mistook this for a hostage situation and went to seek vengeance, but upon learning of this act of kindness, offered protection to this man, his land, and any under his employment for the remainder of the conflict.
The queen eventually succumbed to her injuries of the final battle, but mandated that the man’s efforts for protecting one of her warriors would be rewarded. After the war was over, he was granted a rare welcome to Gerudo Valley, which he appreciated but rarely used, due to both it being a place of extreme weather and the rest of Hylian society’s hesitation toward the Gerudo people. However, he and the archer remained in contact, and eventually created a child.
At some point after Ganondorf’s conception, the Blacksmith was murdered by two in his employment for what they had seen as betraying their country. They attempted to frame Gerudo thieves for the murder, but the Hylian King was well aware of the man’s relationship with the Gerudo -- along with the loyalty that Gerudo show for those they bond with -- and the two men were shortly after found out and put to death. Partly as a genuine punishment, and partly as a peace offering to the Gerudo people who, by now, had come to work often with this particular blacksmith.
Twinrova, serving as an interim matriarch after the Queen’s death, was made aware of the male child when his mother died during childbirth some months later. Because of the high tension that still existed between the nations, and knowing that Gerudo Kings, while good omens in Gerudo Culture, were bad omens in Hyrule, she hid him away, and the valley kept his birth a secret for the first few years of his life. It helped that he was very ill, and couldn’t do much as an infant or toddler, so he was very easy to keep quiet.
Once things had calmed a bit, Twinrova disclosed his birth to Hyrule’s king, and immediately attempted to arrange his marriage to the king’s daughter, born a few months prior to the Gerudo prince. The kind was disinterested in this for several reasons, but sent his congratulations to the Gerudo people, again, as a sign of good will. Twinrova continued suggesting an arranged marriage even as he started accompanying her to Hyrule around the age of 10. She would not stop suggesting this until Ganondorf, as a teenager, began taking over ambassador duties to Hyrule without her company, at which point both he and the King found some relief on the matter.
Around the age of 15, Ganondorf underwent his trials to gain the trust of his people, and his crown. He was absent from his role as ambassador for several years after his coronation, extremely busy induction to kinghood, a serious (and deeply avoidable) injury, and subsequent journey of self-fortification. The king would pass on and the princess would marry the current king, a local noble. Ganondorf was invited to but unable to attend both the funeral and the wedding -- learning of both after his return to the Valley and made to  a prompt return to Hyrule at 18 to apologize to both his old friend and her new husband for his absence, at which point most of his job became making friends with an entirely new king who was...nowhere close to filling the shoes his predecessor had left for him.

@dullweapons commented ... "to forget and be forgotten is the gift of the mortals, perhaps our only one" - ray ray ( still accepting! )
Tumblr media
Link locked eyes with Ray. In the firelight, you could see the deep bags underneath them; could see the life that had been drained from within them. Once radiant blue eyes had become cold and grey as he had aged... and he was only sixteen.
A lightness filled his chest. Then dark, bitter laughter erupted from within. Something about it reminded him of the thief, though there was nothing gloating about Link's laughter. He broke the eye contact, not believing what he had heard Ray say. What would he know? Just another philosopher with a weapon. At least he had the good graces to be original and use an axe.
"What do you know about forgetting, sir Cadell?" Link finally fought back the laughter enough to verbally lash out at the person whose job Zelda gave him, "there is nothing good about forgetting."
Link leaned forward, a dark look on his face, "I've been forgotten my whole life, though with periods of remembrance from others. My mother and I are forgotten by Hyrule, my childhood is nothing but a myth to the people who I saved in a timeline only I remember. I saved the populace of a country I am assured by everyone does not exist; and even they forgot me every three days for years. I will be a footnote in the history I saved, notable only for bringing Ganondorf to justice for his schemes and delusions of greatness. To people, that's all I'll ever be."
Link leaned back, face contorting into something ugly in anger, though there was a tremble to his voice. A weak scoff escaped him as he tried to rein his emotions back in.
"All those people killed in his coup d'état, so narrowly avoided by me, and all they'll call that man's evil is a 'scheme'. The blood soaked fields, the bodies I rushed over to get to her in time, his magic... They still haunt me, however long it's been since I experienced them."
An involuntary shiver coursed through Link as he remembered being thrown down for hours by the King of Evil's magic. It took a few moments before Link looked back at Ray, his eyes still filled with that hatred only those who have been hurt can show.
"Forgetting is not a gift, sir Cadell. It is a curse—my curse. And tonight is a terrible night for a curse..."

CTB Scrap - Impa's Ploy in Faron
This was meant to be in chapter 19, when the remaining members of the Chain are trying to decide if they can risk trying to find their missing friends.
Okay, so this is a doozy to explain. Originally, Warriors was going to realize that the rumors of a new hero were a part of a scheme Impa had to capture them. The reason was convoluted. The entire plan was based on contrivances.
I also got way too deep into the scene before realizing that Warriors was acting like he did pre-amputation. He needed to be way less calculating at this point of the story.
It just didn't work, so I scrap the idea entirely.
Note: this is an unedited scrap, so the writing may not be up to snuff. Also, everything include was deleted for a reason, so please do not take it as canon to CTB.
--
“Not possible,” Lincoln said. “We had to go through a nearby village. A regiment of troops had just marched through a few days ago.”
“Maybe you misheard, cook,” Hyrule said.
“No, I know what I heard.” Wild placed a bowl of soup on the map, blocking Warriors from making another mark. “Eat up. You’re a pile of bones.” He placed the other bowl in front of Hyrule. “Everyone was saying that the princess had some new hero.”
“It could be a bluff,” Time said, returning to his seat.
Warriors shook his head as he sat and slid his bowl closer. “What if it’s not?” He mulled over it for a moment. “Maybe it’s not a bluff, but a ploy. The Royal Guard couldn’t tell the people of Hyrule that their hero was dead, not without inciting panic. I’m not sure why they didn’t keep that information quiet to begin with— though I have the suspicion that rumors of my death was spread by the Knights of Hyrule in order to pin it onto Lincoln and legitimize your ousting.”
“Fair logic,” Lincoln said.
“A dead hero in times of conflict can only cause panic, and with the kingdom on the verge of outright rebellion, the Royal Guard would need to keep the people calm. So they would need a new hero to replace me.”
“They could fake it,” Four said.
“Not easily, and certainly not convincingly. Here, a hero is a public figure. I had to be shown off to make my existence worthwhile. So whoever they got as a hero, they would need to have something that would convince everyone in Hyrule that they’re legitimate—the Master Sword, a Triforce mark, prowess in battle, something.”
“Are you saying they have our knight?” Time asked.
Warriors could think of a hundred scenarios that could land Sky in the hands of the Royal Guard. He liked none of them. “Maybe, but that’s beside the point. I’m thinking that they were projecting the news of the new hero just enough to get the people to calm, then started suppressing it.”
“Rumors are nearly impossible to suppress,” Wild said.
“On a large scale, yes. But with enough intimidation, limited contact from other parts of the kingdom, and a different set of news to spread, it could work in a limited area—say, for example, Faron.”
Time eyes widened. “They’re trying to lure us out?”
“Got it in one.” Warriors carefully picked up his spoon, making sure he had a good angle before dipping it into the bowl. “Impa had to have done the math and realized that we were heading to Faron. She might have even realized that we’re here in the temple. Since we slipped by the checkpoints, she’s making the gamble that she can catch us in the act of saving everyone else.” He frowned. “And she’s knows me. She knows that not knowing any information is going to drive me insane. She’s betting I’ll get restless and try to find answers myself. And if not that, then she’s betting she can lure out one of you for those same reasons.”
“It’s possible,” Lincoln mused aloud. “If I was spotted when I went back to my family’s home, it could mean that I inadvertently confirmed where you are.”
“Are you really such a hot commodity?” Wild asked Warriors.
“To Impa, yes,” Warriors said. “But again, it’s not just about me. It’s about all of us. The hero provides legitimacy in times of conflict. It’s like getting the goddesses’ approval.” Warriors frowned. “And if we don’t comply, then we’re too dangerous to be left alone.”
Time crossed his arms over his chest. “So what do we do?”
Warriors tried to think about it a moment longer, but his brain kept turning back to the same plan over and over again. He groaned, dropping his spoon into his bowl to pinch his brow.
Surely, he was still feverish. His brain had to still be muddied with illness. Why else could he only think of one solution, and a shitty one at that?
Proxi placed a hand on his elbow. “It’s not your fault,” she soothed.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Hyrule demanded. “You’re not thinking about leaving them there?”
Warriors grimaced, wishing for half a second he could have gently led them all to that conclusion. Instead, he had to deal with all of his friends objecting, raising their voices at once.
“Yeah, I’m not doing that,” Wild said.
“You’re abandoning them?” Hyrule said.
“There has to be some other way,” Time said.
“C’mon, think of something different,” Four said.
Warriors gritted his teeth, bearing through it. Let them shout. He deserved this. If only he had been a better hero.
“Calm down.” Lincoln’s tone brokered no argument, so much so that even Time immediately settled down.
It only served to rekindle bitter pang in Warriors’s gut, though he was saved from snapping at Lincoln when Hyrule, immune, kept shouting. “Every time we try to go along with one of your plans, something goes wrong and everyone gets hurt. Isn’t it time for us to stop worrying about that shit and start doing something?”
“Whoever is stuck in the Royal Guard made a calculated decision,” Warriors said. He wanted to be calm yet firm, but his voice sounded strained, even to himself. “The minute we rush in, they become a hostage and we put them in danger.” His hand wrapped around the stump of his left arm, squeezing what remained of his elbow joint. “I’m not saying I like it either. From the beginning, I swore that I wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes I made in the past. I fucked up that goal pretty thoroughly. I won’t argue that this isn’t the exact scenario I was afraid of.”
Warriors winced, realizing that he was squeezing his arm too tightly. But he didn’t stop. “I never wanted any of this to happen again. I swear I didn’t.”
Hyrule stared at him, wide-eyed. “Again?”
Warriors swallowed. Memories of the engineer played in his mind, consuming his eyes until they were all he could see. The engineer laughing, crying, bleeding—all because of him. Everything that went wrong was because of him. “I told you, didn’t I? I did a lot of terrible things.”
Hyrule opened his mouth like he wanted to say something, but Lincoln cut him off. “If they were recruited, things won’t be apocalyptic for them,” Lincoln said. “Precarious, yes. But Impa won’t have any reason to mistreat them. We only have to worry about the possibility of them fighting on the frontlines, which may not happen for some time. I’m not sure how often any of you boys have fought in a war, but war is many weeks of doing nothing punctuated with battles. We still have time.”
Warriors’s stomach churned at the very thought, but he focused on Lincoln’s logic. Twilight, Sky, Wind, and Legend: they weren’t the engineer and Warriors wasn’t there to terrorize them. There was plenty of time. There was hope.
“I don’t like it,” Time said. “It feels like we’re leaving them behind—forgetting them, even.”
Warriors’s grip on his arm tightened until he felt a sharp pain. When he glanced at his arm, all he could think about was his dream of the child, how he had held the skinning knife in his hand as the child shouted over and over again why don’t you remember me?
“I understand what you mean,” Lincoln said. “Waiting here means I have to trust Linkle to find her way here on her own. I’m not comfortable with that idea either, but it’s what has to be done.”
This was important—some sign that Lincoln was as pragmatic as ever, but Warriors couldn’t focus on it. He was nauseous, and he could feel the meagre bites of soup he had taken swarming up his throat. Why would he think about that now?
“Captain?” Wild asked.
Warriors released his arm, if only to clutch his stomach. “Sorry. I can’t…”
Wild smiled. “Hey, don’t worry, I have some clear broth still.”
