whatever the announcement ends up being, if it’s something a lot of the fandom doesn’t really want, i’m hoping that we can all remember to Be Cool about it. it’s by no means a prevailing opinion, but i’ve already seen a few people speculating that this is just going to be a money grab, thrown together without much thought or care. i really don’t understand this opinion, but i guess people have become jaded with a lot of the soulless, nostalgia baiting “hey-remember-this” type of media that gets cranked out every month or so.

for my part, i can only imagine that jonathan sims (the writer, not the archivist) would want to create what he sees as a worthy follow-up, or at least leave it in the hands of someone who he trusts creatively. i guess i could be unpleasantly surprised, but a bad sequel or adaptation really isn’t the end of the world, which leads me to my main point; if you end up not liking whatever the announcement is, that’s fine. you’re under no obligation to like every magnus archives related thing, but please do not use it as an excuse to be nasty to people. it’s not worth shit-slinging over a horror fiction podcast.

I love Jon and Martin getting a cat. That is chefs kiss mwah. But, what if they got a dog?

Like, maybe Martin starts volunteering at an animal shelter. And there’s a dog there that just seems to hate EVERYONE. It’s the ugliest dog any of them have ever seen as well.

Martin immediately falls in love with it. His goal in life is to get this dog to like him. To the point Jon knows everything about this dog but what I looks like.

Jokes on Martin tho bc the dog seems to immediately love him too.

One day he wakes up to Jon already up and gone (not unusual) but what is unusual is when he gets to the shelter and his special boy is gone. He’s heartbroken until he comes home and this pup is scrambling towards him at the door, making loud snuffling noises bc of course Jon surprised him with the dog 🥺
