I figured out today that my supervisor at work thinks that I've been "taking notes" on how to run the printer/do my job in general, because I'm moving to nights (bc fuuuuuuccckkk waking up at 6 am, also i wanna spend time with my child) and he said I was doing a good job but to "keep taking lots of notes! You've about filled that notebook up, but it will come in handy later!" ........Sir this notebook is full of ninja turtle (and usagi) fanfic. I'm supposed to be taking notes????? On what? I push the green button and the cup goes into the printer and gets sprayed w ink and a pretty (objective) picture comes out on it, this is not rocket science.

#if the story is trying to tell you X is bad #and they don’t show it through plot thoughts or dialogue #the story did a bad job #your hand doesn’t need to be held bc the story should be guiding you through and to what it wants u to get from it #even if that means the character is lying or doing something purely shitty #but if the story is not sufficiently doing that it’s just bad writing #and depending on the issue it’s trying to tackle WEIRD #like a story trying to say abuse is bad shouldnt have to have the villain going ‘I’m abusing you and I’m bad’ #but if the story also doesn’t show any effects consequences reactions etc. to the abuse properly #the story is failing at its job #and even if the story isn’t saying abuse is bad #if they’re saying an abusive relationship can look perfect #and they show a perfect relationship without any negative elements and then have some big blow up outta nowhere at the end #the story failed! #obligatory this doesn’t apply to every scenario #but already seeing ppl justify racism (raise ur hand if ur shocked) with ‘the story doesn’t have to hold ur hand and tell you racism is bad’ #ok but if the racism is unacceptable in the story that should be made clear also #even in subtle ways #which they’re not doing #which means they’re failing or they’re lazy #or both

I hate when twitch streamers are asked for streaming advice and they start talking about how you'll never get big ever and you need to have the 'right' reasons to get into it... like yeah the chances of blowing up are slim and if you're only thinking about getting views fast you'll probably get disappointed/bitter, but like why do so many streamers immediately go to the most negative 'advice' and don't try to encourage people at all? Streaming should be fun! You wanna start streaming? Go do it!! Don't put all your money into it and abandon everything on the small chance you'll get big of course, but if you wanna try it then try it! I'm sure when they give that advice they're trying to be realistic, but honestly it's just overly negative and turns that small chance of making it a job into a 0% chance because it's discouraging ppl from trying at all...
