Two worlds…two ideals…no one was prepared for what their unity could mean for society
Did you forget?
Whenever you were spending time with Kakucho he was sweet and gentle, so it was hard telling yourself he was only trying to make a fool of you. He would show his love doing small things like cuddling with you on the couch while you watched your favorite movies, and also show his love with grand gestures like taking you on a trip to Italy and making sensual memories in the house he purchased in Campania. At this point people were confused, some would ask who you were married to, whenever you answered you said Kakucho jokingly since he acted like he wanted the vacant position.
Sanzu was busy handling things for Manjiro these past few weeks, so he couldn’t give it any time of day. He didn’t acknowledge any of the questions Mochi would ask referring to you, deflecting to their performance and how they could be a better asset to Bonten. Whenever he was at home, he would call and remind you that your relationship with Kakucho wasn’t going to last. It didn’t bother you because you knew, you just wished that Kakucho would remember that.
You enjoyed the gifts and trips, but you started to grow annoyed with his behavior. When the two of you first started seeing one another, you made it clear that you weren't interested in a relationship but here he was acting like the two of you were married. He would get upset whenever you missed his calls, throw a fit wherever he saw you interacting with other men, and get upset when you refused to go to his place for the night. It was becoming stressful, being around him.
You sat at the end of the couch staring at the fireplace preparing to have the same conversation with Kakucho. Things were getting out of hand and you couldn’t see yourself dealing with him any longer. This was supposed to be fun, but the bad started to outweigh the good.
“Is something wrong?” It was like he could tell when you were anything but happy these days. He moved closer, but you pulled away. “What is it?”
“I’m done.” You got up from the couch and started packing up your belongings in the other room. Kakucho was too stunned to react. “I can’t do this with you anymore.” There was no sense in talking with him if he wasn’t going to change. If he cared then he would’ve gotten better after the first time.
“Isn’t this what you wanted?” He asked, following you around. “I thought you wanted someone who treats you well.” You ignored him, unplugging your charger and throwing it into your purse. “So you want to go back to being ridiculed, lonely, and unappreciated.”
“You act like you're this good guy, but there's always this jackass that hops out of you and tries to make me feel like shit when I remind you we aren’t serious. You can’t use Sanzu as a way to tear me down if I don’t give a damn about him. Bring him up all you want but I’m still not moving in and I won’t be having your babies.” You looked around the closet and realized it was going to take a while to get everything. “I’m leaving this stuff here, do what you want with it.” You grabbed your purse and headed out the house, Kakucho not too far behind.
“We can work through this, just give me another chance.” He begged. “Think before you do something you regret.”
“I think you ruined the fun and I don’t wanna be here anymore.” You shoved him away from your car door and got in. You ignored his shouting as you drove off. He wasn’t fit for these kinds of things.

You never just pull me towards you.
You never grab me just to kiss me.
You never frame my face with your hands, touch me neck.
You never just need to feel me.
You never say you love me.
You're always in my head. But I don't know if I shoud try to block these thoughts about you or if I should enjoy them, 'cause I dont know how you feel about me and if I'm in your mind too...
But, you’re mine.
Lately you’ve been feeling different. When you first arrived, you were uncomfortable and avoided your husband as much as you possibly could, but you didn’t anymore. You took note of the things he did to try and know him better. Your conversations weren’t full at the moment, but you made sure to spend more time around him. If he was in the room you would lounge on the sofa, if he was outside you would sit in one of the chaise lounges near the pool. You felt like the two of you could be happy with one another.
You walked down the street holding your umbrella and looking through the shops. Since he was always buying you gifts, you wanted to return the favor. Maybe he would like to be doted on from time to time. It wasn’t until you spotted a watch that you went into one of the stores, you remembered that he damaged his old one during his last outing. You buy a watch that has a gold bracelet and an emerald shade dial with diamond hour markers. As you drive home you laugh to yourself at how much you’ve changed. You couldn’t wait to see the look on his face when you surprised him.
There were plenty of cars in the driveway when you pulled in. You hated when his friends came over, they never disrespected you but you weren’t okay with the way he would invite them over with no warning. You walk into the house holding the little bag and you can hear them talking, laughing, and of course they’re drinking and doing drugs. Originally you were headed for the stairs but your feet stopped when you noticed Sanzu had another woman hanging on him. As you get closer, you see her playing with his long hair with her head laid on his shoulder. Without thinking, you punched him, he nearly lost his balance. The bag fell to the floor and the watch ended up near the table.
“I get this is an arranged marriage, but what happened to working things out?” The room was quiet, everyone waited for him to return the hit but he didn’t.
“We don’t even talk.” He straightened up and sat on the couch, pulling the woman down on top of him. You rolled your eyes, frustrated with his audacity.
“It isn’t a lot, but don’t act like I haven’t put in effort.” You argued. “I’m the one who starts the little conversations. I took the time to learn how to make your favorite foods and I try to see if I enjoy some of the things you have an interest in.” Hearing your words, you realized that you fell in love. How unfortunate.
“The arrangement was for your protection, your mother didn’t say anything about loving you.” His words cut deep.
“Then why were you sending mixed signals?” You asked. “You were the one asking me to spend time with you and taking me out, buying gifts even though I told you it wasn’t needed. You even went as far as telling me to come for you if I needed money.”
“It was to keep up appearances, but I won’t do it anymore if it helps you sort out your feelings.” Not having anything left to say, you left the living room and the others began picking up where they left off.
