can i just say. i’m sick of showrunner discourse. like every few months it seems like people draw their lines and dig their trenches and every time it’s the same handful of points and episodes brought up to prove that their favorite showrunner is Good And Progressive and that their least favorite is Wrong And Bigoted and like. all of those episodes exist. they’re all real episodes of doctor who, and the sooner we can look at the good and the bad in doctor who, the sooner we can get somewhere actually worth being regarding discussion of politics on the show

the way the other angels treat aziraphale reminds me of how people at church would treat obviously queer kids who didn’t know they were queer yet. especially in the flashback scenes and in s1. they all see he’s different and treat him like shit but in that really vague passive aggressive christian way y’know

What I love the most about atsv is the spots design, his limbs are a little too long and his chest and torso are a bit stubby and this is amplified in a fun silly way by how he holds himself the first time we see him, he’s awkward and clumsy and yet when his demeanor switches suddenly his anatomy makes you uncomfortable, when he’s sprinting towards miles all you can do is hold your breathe as a foreboding feeling sinks into you’re gut. He becomes imposing as his elongated limbs suddenly feel sinister and inhuman instead of goofy. He goes from “hehe his arms and legs are lengthy” to “oh god his arms and legs are lengthy”

between the day i picked up dazai and untold stories, i've got a lot of oda thoughts on my mind.
i could have missed something, but to me it never seems like he has any particular remorse for his past as an assassin. he seems ashamed of it at times, and is frustrated when its brought up. ashamed that his past, to him, is preventing him from being a writer (at least, in main timeline. i'm ignoring beast for now.)
and that's... interesting, to me. oda who is put on a moral pedestal, having this violent past with little regret for the lives he took on a moral standpoint outside of how it impacts his own future. and i think that's worthy of being looked at.
i really think its because oda is like this that he was able to have an impact on dazai. remember, it wasn't necessarily any form of morailty that drew dazai to oda, it was just oda's... quirkiness, per say. oda has a past of violence and bloodshed. he's dangerous. the challenge in life for him is completing his work without killing people.
he is at times horrified by some of dazai's actions, but he's not disgusted. he's not really put off by them. he's already seen that side of the world, though his was much cleaner. dazai's violence is personal. oda's was impersonal, which is probably why oda is able to reconcile it the way he was.
oda's morals aren't cut and dry "good" at all, and in a way he is rather self serving, just with a penchant for helping orphans. that's probably also why, in beast, he was able to connect with akutagawa. he wouldn't be judgmental or disgusted by akutagawa's violence. it was natural to him to simply react to it with a straight face as he does all else. and why he fit so well in the agency in general. he was in that grey area, just like everyone else. i'll always be fascinated by the way oda is put up on a pedestal in dazai's mind and by extension much of the audience because oda's morals are dubious at best. he's really grown on me as a character lately, there's a lot of layers to peel back, for a dead man.

we gotta bring back livejournal and wordpress and forums and weird little blogsites that aren't connected to any social media presence at all its just people online doing online things. the internet is so small now bc we're all squished into the same sites. we used to be so spread out. we used to be a proper decentralised digital culture

I'm thinking about the symbolism of House a Wilsons offices (that dosent exist and that i definitely just made up cause im that delusional)
let me explain. (bare with me here im slightly insane)
so lets imagine for a moment that the hallway outside their offices is us, the audience.
House's office is glass, he is completely visible to us. his office door does not lock, we can come and go as we please.
Wilson's office has no windows facing the hallway, we cant see him. his door can be locked, we cant enter unless he lets us. (ie. wilson centric episodes)
as the main character of the show we see the world through House's eyes, we follow him to his home, to work, we even see inside his mind. when he hallucinates we see them as if they are our own, we are in his mind. us the audience ARE House.
we have free access to watch his life through the glass.
but Wilson? we cant. we cant spy on his life in the same way because, again, we are House.
now think back to their offices. if we are House, then we're in Houses office. if we're in Houses office then how do we get to Wilson? How do we learn about him and his character? the balcony. the balcony with a glass door that faces directly towards House. we can learn about Wilson by watching him through the glass door that is only visible to House. we learn about Wilson through House. (almost)everything we know about Wilson is through House because Wilson only lets House freely spy on his life. thats why the door is glass, thats why the door faces house, thats why the door doesn't lock.

no literally so much of kenshivs whole relationship and dynamic is gay brother/little sister. weird solidarity/sympathy with him. ‘you cant fit enough cuz ur not straight i can't fit in because im a woman' but also holding him to a higher standard because of that solidarity/sympathy and expect him to treat you better because of it but ultimately he disappoints you because your differences and competition with each other win out ‘we're both not straight white man enough to win here' except kendall can be 'straight' more than shiv could ever be a man.

qpac would do one of those ‘how much my outfit cost / im wearing 500000$’ trends and you can clearly see the prosthetic leg and you think thats gonna be the absurd price for the outfit but instead he says its free cause he and mike made it and the extra money was actually the posted bail after his arrest

I’m trying to figure out when exactly Pyrrha realized that Nona was Alecto. I had been thinking that it was after Kiriona woke up, because at that point Pyrrha would have understood that Nona’s eyes came from Alecto, not Gideon, but I think it may have actually been a bit earlier…
After the fight between Ianthe and Cam, when Pyrrha and Nona go off to find the corpse, Nona tells Pyrrha that she’s dying, and Pyrrha says, “‘Course you are…the soul longs for the body, Nona. Even a fucked up soul…even a soul that’s been changed forever. It takes a lot to acclimate a soul to a body it wasn’t born in, if that original body’s around for it to miss.”
Now, she could still be talking about Gideon. BUT something about the way she phrases this, with the “fucked up soul that’s been changed forever” …feel free to disagree but to me that sounds a heck of a lot like Alecto. I think it’s possible that Pyrrha has even worked out Alecto’s true nature, so when she refers to the ‘original body’ she could be talking about the planet earth itself.
Pyrrha goes on to say, “Kiddie, when you were yelling…” but she trails off and doesn’t get to finish her sentence. We know that Nona “screamed like the captain had screamed.” We also know that when the captain screams, Nona hears her speaking in varun’s voice, and it’s interesting that Pyrrha describes it as yelling, not screaming, which to mean indicates that Nona may have said something. Something that alerts Pyrrha to the fact that Nona is not who they’ve all been thinking she is.
Yes - Pyrrha does say within the next couple of pages that Gideon’s body “might be you, kiddie.” But I don’t think that necessarily means she doesn’t at least suspect that Nona is someone else. I know the rest of that scene heavily implies that Pyrrha still thinks Nona is Gideon…but I’m suspicious. I think what she wants to believe and what she knows to be true might not match up.
This post is getting away from me but I just have to add that after the roof incident, both Nona and Pyrrha know who she is, and Nona is desperate to keep herself in the dark. Pyrrha starts to call Nona “A…” but Nona stops her and begs her not to make her remember. And then Nona slips into her Alecto self, and mocks Pyrrha for playing house with her (hello, more doll references), and that must absolutely break Pyrrha’s heart, but she lets it go.
So when Pyrrha finally says her “what’s like except a love that hasn’t been invited indoors?” speech, she’s reckoning with her feelings towards both Nona and Alecto, has probably been wrestling with those feelings for a while, and it’s just. So devastating. Pyrrha loved Nona. Nona loved and was loved by Palamedes, Camilla, and Pyrrha.
But Alecto? Nona is terrified that when she realizes who she is, she won’t love anything. We know that John loved Alecto, and I think we can infer that Anastasia did too, and Alecto loved them back. But then Pyrrha tells us that she and Gideon liked Alecto, and for some reason that feels even more significant to me—maybe because there are all kinds of twisted love in these books and to like someone, while less intense, is more…mundane. There aren’t a lot of instances in these books where people just like each other, plain and simple. And I think that the love everyone has for Nona is a lot less complicated than the other types of love we’re shown. Truly a like that’s been invited indoors.

it's not even that ttpd is inaccessible to newer fans it's inaccessible to people who don't want to sit with the album and think deeply about it and really grapple with what it means when people do bad things. it's not only for taylor's "true fans" it's for anyone who's willing to see someone's humanity even as they're falling apart in front of your eyes

I feel like there should be a way to distinguish between 'any pronouns' as in 'I am equally indifferent about all pronouns and there is no need to switch it up*' and 'any pronouns' as in 'use whatever you come up with, please mix it up*'
*this isn't everyone's experience but you get the idea
I thought that maybe we could start saying '–any' or 'any–' for when someone does not want or care about others switching up which pronouns they use, and '+any' or 'any+' for when someone does want others to use multiple sets
So I could say I go by he/him/any+, which would mean 'he/him and anything else you can think of'.
Or someone could use –any, which means 'I truly do not have a preference, use as many or as little pronouns as you want'
Maybe we could even use ~ to signify fluidity, so '~any' or 'any~' would mean 'I use any pronouns but my feelings on specific sets fluctuate'

sometimes I think about just. The lore of sam and dean. The lore of supernatural. Not the monster lore but the actual lore of their lives. and I go a little crazy because it’s like, did the actual show give us that??? did the fathoms of spn fanfiction give us that?? What is canon/what is fanon/isn’t it all a little bit fanon anyway? So who’s to say that little ficlet about preseries sam&dean didn’t happen? That that wasn’t a little moment, a little snapshot in their lives and just because we didn’t see it on our TVs doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. It’s so hard for me to parse out. During my rewatch this time I got to the end of s5 and was thinking that the show couldn’t have POSSIBLY ended there because there was just too much more to unearth about sam&dean’s story. Even looking at what was Canonical at that point. It was just so rich and primeval and their love just feels so ANCIENT&eternal. Like. It always Has Been and it always Will Be forever and ever. And I’ll never be able to wrap my head around that
