Trying to redesign miraculous when all i want to do is this

Yee haw they’re all cowboys now

I’ve been trying to redesign the dog miraculous but ended up thinking about cowboys because i gave it a new secondary power wherein it can track/hunt miraculous and was used by the guardians to gather them up in the old days. Can’t smell corrupted or permanently used ones though.

Then I was like what would both the fetch and track powers be called to activate and my mind went to them yelling ‘round-up’.

The dog also needed a weapon and while a whip does make sense lasso’s are more fun. That’s when insanity sank in.

Lol im heading back into my hidey hole until I get something finished for both of them. I kind of want to come up with a new design philosophy so that it can be applied to all holders of each miraculous ya know.

Okay so, it's a very busy week and I'm starting to get sick from all the work and stress. This means I won't be drawing for quite some time and progress on the next chapter has been put on hold. Since I can't make any more progress on the next chapter I figured I could post this to keep you all fed till I get better. Don't worry this had been drawn two weeks ago. I was gonna wait till the next chapter was published to show you all this but it's gonna be quite some time till that happens so I'm posting this now.

Félix as Flairmidable

This name is hilarious and you’re about to find out why.

It really bugged me at first because I couldn’t figure out how it related to dogs or canines at all. But I knew the second part of the name comes from the word “formidable.” In English, it means powerful/capable/intense in a way that commands respect or fear (I.e. formidable opponent). In French, it can be the same, but also translates to “tremendous,” “amazing,” “terrible” (if you’re wanting a negative connotation).

Those definitions definitely go with how Felix sees himself (and he is definitely a formidable opponent).

But I was drawing a blank on “flair” or how else the name could refer to anything canine at all. So I just googled “flairmidable meaning” and see if someone else in the miraculous wiki figured it out lol. And they did!

Someone in a miraculous discussion post said “flair” means a dog’s sense of smell. I did some more googling to fact check it just in case, and found that it’s almost right: “flairer” (a French verb) means “sniff,” and “flaireur” means “scent.” Since Fetch is a tracking power, it’s a good connection to how dogs track.

Okay, now here’s the funny part.

“Flair,” by itself, also means “instinctive aptitude or ability for doing something well. Add that with “formidable,” and, well…

Felix literally went “hi I’m Talented and Powerful” to an entire team of superheroes and no one bat an eye (well, except Chat, but he was on jealousy brain).

(Then he proceeded to prove that he was exactly that. What a legend.)

The Dog and Cat Miraculous swap "weapons" because

why tf does the cat have a stick?? like y'all gave the dog a ball coz "fetch" and u gave the cat the stick coz,,,, destruction??? bad luck???

fuck that, I'm rewriting that for my au:

dog miraculous has a stick, a baton if u will, which is just like Chat Noir's with the way it extends and shit but when the holder activates their power (still Fetch coz it's a decent power to have) they use the tip of their baton to touch the object that they want to be able to "fetch" (or they can just use their hand, up to whatever they need)

and like ppl use sticks to play fetch with more than balls anyways so that's my reasoning :)

also then, in my au, we can still have Adrien with his baton in combat coz when I picture dog!Adrien, I always picture him with his baton across his back so yeah :D

now for the cat, I think Marinette would have fun with a ball rather than a stick, and also stick ??? really ??? where's the correlation between stick and cat ??? I think a ball fits better coz ball of yarn (ok maybe that's a stretch) but my cat has always been more interested in sphere objects rather than long thin ones so :P

so cat!Marinette has a "ball" as her weapon of choice, or maybe !! it's her bell, he can detach her bell (with a string attached) and can enlarge it to use to hit opponents (like she does with her yo-yo or as if it's one of those spikey balls on the end of a chain)

and !!! when she wants to use cataclysm, she can hold the bell in her hand and "channel" the cataclysm to the bell so that she can throw it at objects to cataclysm them (because ofc Marinette has good aim, what isn't she good at??)

Miss hound redesign. If I’m being honest misshound had one of my least favorite designs of all the heroes.

(Sorry it’s so low quality)

The hat was awkward the shorts made it feel like a recolored version of her normal outfit and the mask just didn’t do it for me.

I thought flairmidables design was so much more appealing so I took some inspiration from him.

Bark has long ears and I thought they would be cute on miss hound so I got rid of the hat and gave her pigtails that resemble dog ears instead.

Personally I don’t love that Sabrina gets a miraculous as her character is not very heroic. She never stands up for herself against Chloe and even worse she stands by or helps Chloe do things that hurt other people. Like she broke into marinettes room and tried to steal her diary. I just don’t feel like she was worthy of a miraculous. If chloe found out that she had a miraculous I feel like it wouldn’t take much for her to hand it over to chloe. It would have been fun if she had an arc where she started standing up for herself more like in evillustrator so that she earned it but I guess her character was not important enough for the screen time.

Anyway I really disliked her design so but I’m pretty happy with my redesign 🐶
