The expectation for my D&D character:

The reality:

I made myself a bounty hunter-turned-paladin for our Sunday night game and went all in on the Wild West imagery - leather duster, ten-gallon hat, vaguely Texan drawl*. I made them a tiefling mainly so I could be OTT and name them Relentless. And 7 or 8 sessions in, I can safely say their strengths lie in hitting things really hard, falling down a lot, and getting migraines every time they talk to the sheltered teenaged elf who is trying waaaaay too hard to be cool.

And, really, when you give the DM backstory ideas that may or may not lead to your character absolutely losing their shit on an NPC, you're just asking for their life to become a nightmare anyway.

*I thought I was going to sound soooo cool but instead everything comes out like it was voiced by Sandy Cheeks. FML
