The Aftermath Dislocation Principle part 3: The Bridge, by Jimmy Cauty, a 1:87 scale dystopian cityscape.
Podcast: A Life In Miniatures
'People become writers for myriad reasons - novelist Max Porter suspects that for him the crucial spur was his fascination with Bekonscot model village, which he visited scores of times as a child. It was there that he discovered the pleasure and value of people watching at a life-size and miniature scale.
In 'A Life In Miniatures' he returns to Bekonscot to celebrate not just the care, craft and love that have gone into its construction, but also the opportunity it affords to create complicated stories out of the various people and scenes on show. He interrogates whether these places are necessarily escapist and reactionary or offer a more radical opportunity to critique society.
He visits Jimmy Cauty of KLF fame to hear about the dystopian model village he has toured around the world in a shipping container and talks with Douglas Stuart, author of Shuggie Bain, about the miniature appearance of a miniature village that appears in that book. Max also speaks with academic Melinda Rabb about the rise of miniatures in 18th Century England - and how smart phones are keeping the tradition alive in various unexpected ways.
"Life is short, eat dessert first – especially when it comes to the exquisite world of patisserie! 🍰 "I crafted this miniature-themed image through a combination of AI technology and digital painting, intending it to serve as a wellspring of inspiration."

It's something a bit different for me! . . . . . . . #miniatures #minihome #miniaturefurniture #miniatureinteriors #dollhouseminiatures #dollhouse #dollshouse #miniatureart #miniaturemaker #abandonedminiatures #urbexminiature #scalemodels #scenery #70s #60s #crafter #handmadeuk #handmademiniatures ##ooak #diyminiatures #diorama #dioramacreators #modelmaking #modeling #dioramaartist #dioramas #follow #dollhousefurniture (at London, Unιted Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdEJbIXseDR/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
well. calling it a ‘dollshouse’ is a disservice; it’s the winery manor in miniature, with tiny furniture and tiny pieces made by master craftsmen. you have been . . . difficult. you have found it hard to adjust; hard to swallow that diluc simply wishes to protect you, and can think of no better way than to keep you safely ensconced in his expensive home, coddled and taken care of, as his most beloved darling spouse.
and it’s to be expected; dollshouses are often bought by new wives, for them to become used to the thought of buying new furniture and rearranging things, ordering new draperies and all-in-all running a household. diluc knows you have not grown up in the splendour he has; wants you to feel as though you have control of something.
it’s silly. you have control of nothing; you are a prisoner, a canary in a gilded cage with a stifling owner who will not let you out to stretch your wings. but diluc seems to think that fussing over bed linens will make you soften; that the inherent domesticity in polishing tiny tiny candelabras and silverware will make you think more kindly of the inherent domesticity he is trying to force upon you.
he buys two figures for it, too; you and he, in perfect tiny scale, reproduced down to the crimson strands of diluc’s hair and the nervous expression on your face that so drives him to need to protect you. when he notices they have been left in separate rooms, he moves them. places them beside one another in the bed, in a cosy settee in the library, maneuvers miniature-diluc’s arm about miniature-you’s shoulders--
the maids do not exist in this perfect little dollshouse that diluc has given you. the little doll’s bedroom is not padlocked. in their adjoining bathroom, there are tiny faux-glass bottles of various tinctures and medicines with teeny-tiny printed labels. you are not permitted such things. the little doll would be perfectly capable of going to the lavishly stocked kitchen and picking up a carving knife, approaching their doll husband--
diluc does not think such thoughts. he smiles at his generous gift - hesitates before he touches your cheek, and instead smooths down the dress of the you-doll. tucks them into bed beside the doll version of himself--
Trying to create a witches cottage in the woods, coming together slowly. Looking for inspiration in stories and making things helps me keep sane, just #miniatures #dollshouse #making miniatures #witches
Hi, I'm Amy, an adult Sylvanian collector. I've been collecting since 2007, when my parents got me the Grand Hotel for Christmas.
When I was 12, I started making stop motion videos with my Sylvanians, and started a YouTube channel when I was 14.
Now I have over 5K subscribers on my channel and hope to be able to do YouTube full-time one day. I don't have much time to make stop motions anymore as I have a full-time job but I make unboxing, set up videos and more.
In March, I started an online shop with my mum!
We sell Sylvanian Families, we have some of the current range, as well as rare and discontinued sets, and also preloved too. If you've been inspired by my set ups, then you'll love the model scenery we stock from Javis. And now we have miniatures from Streets Ahead Dollshouse, like these adorable and realistic ketchup bottles (see below)
Welcome to my page and I hope you enjoy my Sylvanian content 😊
