some domestic snirius cause after all that enemies to lovers bullshit they gotta actually be a couple:
-severus is a complete night owl, he stays up at ungodly hours working in his research be it about a potion experiment or curses, which drives sirius nuts.
-sirius is an early bird, much to severus's dismay cause sirius always wakes him up when sirius detangles himself from his death grip, turns out severus is a cuddler
-sirius is a fix man at heart, if nothing is broken in the house he will still find something, anything that needs fixing or invent it like a rack for severus ingredients even if he doesnt need it.
-sirius also does most of the cooking (they would rather kill themselves than have a house elf) he does an alright job, severus is the true chef but he usually only cooks in special ocassions, mostly cause his food, althought delicious, is a bit too oily, good for the soul but not for the heart.
-severus goes, not enthusiastically, to every party that harry invites sirius to, harry smiles a bit awkwardly to him and severus tries to not die in the spot from embarassment and not be an dickhead with all his might, because he wants sirius to have good time.
-sirius goes to every dinner the malfoys invite severus to, he does not however make the effort to be civil and actively antagonizes his cousin and her husband but severus finds this amusing, specially because of lucius's red face.
-they managed to put a telly in the living room, and a lot of afternoons are just them in the sofa eating garbage and watching tv, sirius likes nature documentaries and severus is more into fiction, he is a doctor who fan since childhood. Sirius becomes a fan too.

So many people who say that Snape can't be a victim in the situation with the marauders because he hurts them (and/or others, e.g. calling Lily a mudblood) in return have clearly never seen an abusive relationship before and while I'm genuinely so, so happy that their life experience has allowed them to avoid it, it makes me scared that when they do come across one, they're going to pull this same shit.
Y'all... very, very rarely in a situation of peer or domestic abuse is the hurt one-sided. Often, because of the fact that the abuser has skewed the power in the relationship so far in their direction, the victim lashes out, too. Sometimes in self-defense, sometimes in anger or desperation, sometimes even proactively to avoid what they think will be a more dangerous situation later.
The misconception that victims never fight back or hurt their abusers makes it harder for many victims to realize that they are in abusive situations at all. (For example, no matter how many boxes they can check on any 'are you in an abusive relationship' questionnaire, they can't be being victimized, because they, say, threw a book at them that one time.) Abusers use this to discourage their victims from seeking help; many people think that since they're not the "perfect victim", they won't be believed. And esp in domestic situations, abusers also often hold these incidents over the victim for increased control and to justify even more abusive behavior ("you make me do it").
It's all about the fear, the control, and the power dynamic; the victim doesn't need to be morally perfect nor have done nothing wrong in the relationship to "deserve" the label. They may hurt the abuser back, take out their anger on innocent people, or even become the abuser in other relationships—and that doesn't make them not a victim themselves.
Was the way Snape reacted to the abuse by his peers—calling Lily a mudblood, developing hexes, and using them back—good? No, obviously not; his violent responses to being victimized and his concurrent radicalization led to some very dark places for him. Doesn't change the fact that he was a victim. Does his being a victim excuse his choice to join the Death Eaters, turn over the prophecy, and bully his students? Nope; he had agency and he made the wrong choices. But he's still a victim.

Sooo, way back in September, I was too busy with real life bullshit to really do much to commemorate the birthday of the lovely @artisticreptilequeen , but I did keep the idea of drawing a gift in the backburner until I had a chance to ask them for a prompt. And this was it: some nice domestic fluff with Severus, Evelyn and Soren basking in the joy of Eloise's upcoming debut into the world.
It's been ages I don't draw three people in the same image, and this took a whole lot of looking at references, but I'm happy with how soft and domestic it is. And after some trial and error, the unfinished sketch look is what suited it best, and I like the warmth it gave the whole thing.
And I hope ya'll like your Snape with a little stubble and a ponytail who doesnt look like a man in his 50s is supposed to, I guess...

How to Meddle with Time (and Get Away With It)
When their wands connect during the Battle of Hogwarts, Voldemort and Harry accidentally time travel back to 1981 right after Voldemort's defeat in the Potter cottage. They decide to get Voldemort’s old face back, raise baby Harry, and gaslight Dumbledore.
Because the nice professor can't possibly be the Dark Lord, can he?

Me constantly thinking about how cute and domestic Severus would be with his S/O after leaving Hogwarts😩🥺 (because there was no way he was gonna stay after suffering for years there)
Like living in a little brick cottage 🏠that had a cute chimney and flowers covering the wall (S/O's idea not his but it made them happy and he is soff for them) far far away from Hogwarts and of course having a little green house for him to work in and somewhere to do potions work or any research he wanted to do🥺
Waking up in the mornings to find his S/O just buried into him or sometimes waking up to find them cradling him protectively 🥲🥲
He had to hide his tears that morning because it just made him feel safe when he realized that he was truly free to live
And also all the rest he would be getting because no dunderheads blowing shit up, no Voldy Moldy and Dumbledore giving him wack tasks, and no Harry Potter who he still for the life of him can't believe didn't get murdered his first year after all the shit that happened 😒
He also finds out he snores when he is in a deep sleep bc his S/O tells him when he has waken up in the middle of the day warm, and confused about where he is at for a second
"Why didnt you wake me up it's bloody 1 in the afternoon" 😤 "Bc you were sleeping so well darling and looked peaceful you deserve some rest 🥺"
And he is like your right how dare I get angry at you for this and showers them in kisses
And dont forget his S/O who he just adores and they dote on him everyday 🥺🥰
Like "Sev I got you some tea I know you've been trying to slow down on the coffee" or "Sev I saw you were running out of fertilizer so I made you some more from what ingredients you had left"
And then 🥺 they alternate between cooking for each other but one day S/O is like" i know it's your day but I found this recipe you might like i really wanted to make it for you I hope you don't mind "👉👈
Of course he doesnt mind he'll eat that shit up no apologies are necessary like you're doting on him and caring for him it's everything he wants and needs
And and and he gets cuddles and kisses every day, (and don't forget the numerous blowjobs throughout the week bc S/O is thirsty for him😘🥴) and he doesnt have to hide his love for his S/O because Voldy is gone and they are safe🥺😭😭🥺
Also also he becomes super soft especially for S/O so whenever S/O has to go away for work or like if they are a professor and are gone often during the school year he gets a little sad 😞 he doesnt admit it though
But it's okay !! Because S/O constantly sends him owls and Floo him a lot and they make sure to visit him in the middle of the week and the weekends if they can bc they also miss him 🥺 and want cuddles
Sometimes he even rents a room at one of the Inns in Hogsmeade village for a week (he isnt stepping foot in that school again unless some sort of catastrophe happens and still he would have to think on it) and S/O comes to stay with him and teases him a little
"Can't resist me can you Severus?"
Spoilers he cant he loves the mess out of his S/O and they love him just as much
He's like 😤 but they are like 🤭😊🥰 and then he is like 😒 bc he is still a grumpy man at heart but on the inside he is really like🫣🥰🥰
And then he proposes to them the next morning bc he doesn't want anyone else but them and now they are both crying bc how did they land such a wonderful partner
Ill stop now im making myself cry, i want to cuddle this man and make him happy bc he deserves it😭

Toffee Pt.2: War Time
a/n: this chapter contains smut. Beware. Somehow tho it is important to the story. But if you don’t want to read that part: allow me to paraphrase in a way anyone can understand:
Snape, having to stay with his true love while she is married to James, is about to have a baby and is in the next room over from the other pair of lovers: I am in misery... There ain't nobody who can comfort me...
Remus and You: I save dick by giving it CPR! Let's make porn and watch it on VCR!~
Death Eaters coming to attack after breakfast: REESE'S PUFFS REESE'S PUFFS REESE'S PUFFS EAT 'EM UP EAT 'EM UP EAT 'EM UP
Tumblr media
You were running as fast as you could, pine tree limbs hitting you across the face. You had to stop since it felt like you were bound to collapse, "Asencido!" you said as you were lifted up into the trees. You grabbed onto one of the limbs before steadying yourself.
"Come down, lovely... We just have a few questions." One of the Death Eaters called to you. You tried to steady your breath as you realized you very well could die if this went poorly. You were about to aim down the tree when you heard a booming voice ring out.
"Confringo!"
Fire blasted out and let a loud hiss out of the wand of whoever cast it. You heard screams and thuds as two black smoky stripes flew up and out to the night sky. You breathed heavily.
"What does a Christmas tree wear?"
You smiled as you began to climb down, you turned to look at two very familiar faces. You felt as if you were about to cry. It had been a rough year and you didn't know if they were dead or imprisoned. "A skirt." you answered. You ran to Remus and hugged him. He hugged you back as you began to cry. You pulled away from his shoulder to grab his face and you began kissing it.
"Uhh..." the tall man in purplish robes felt like he was intruding. You looked at him, tears drying on your face.
"Kingsley!"
He opened his arms when you came in for a hug. "What on earth were they chasing you for."
You pulled away and grinned, you reached into your pocket and pulled out a small piece of paper. You handed it to him. "Some people have a lot of explaining to do, huh?"
Remus grabbed your hand, "Well, back to the old office?" he asked. Kingsley shook his head. You were confused until you were apparated outside of a weird-looking house. You were so happy though: A hot shower, a warm bed, and a roof that wasn't leaking. You walked with Remus and Kingsley to the door before Remus opened it to let you both in. You almost cried when you saw the sight before you: Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, James Potter, Lily Potter, Severus Snape, and Albus Dumbledore.
You burst into tears when Lily jumped up to hug you. It had been so long. You had missed so much. You looked at the almost twenty-year-old woman and you couldn't help but cry out of envy and guilt. You looked at James, who had now stood up. He smiled at you and hugged you. Sirius Black's eyes were a little wet when he joined the group hug. Peter joined in with a 'Missed you, happy you're back.' The group hug faded and you looked at Snape.
"You best give me a damn hug even though I smell like a swamp rat." You joked. He reluctantly hugged you.
You looked at Dumbledore who smiled, "We have much to talk about."
"Damn right we do!" you said, "You said three months. It's been almost two years."
Remus held your shoulder, "Another time. Something else..."
You looked at him, confused.
"Lily," he said, "Has some important news."
You looked at her and that's when you noticed. She was sitting next to a book that read "What to Expect When You Are Expecting.", cards that said congratulations and she seemed bigger than the last time you'd seen her. You had noticed the last part first when she hugged but you didn't want to be rude. It clicked and you let out a happy squeal. "Lily! Oh my god! Is it a boy or girl?"
"A boy," she said, lightly laughing.
You held her hand as you beamed at her, tears coming back to your eyes. It was a wonderful thing for Lily had always wanted to be a mother.
"There's a problem," James said. You looked at Lily.
"Is he..."
"He is fine but we need a place to hide."
You placed your hand on your heart. That couldn't be good. "Where?"
"Godric's Hollow, we'll go right after Harry is born. I hate to be... Rude but that's one reason we brought you."
You felt a sting but it was for the greater good. "Midwife, at your service." you smiled. "When is he due?"
"July."
It was late May. "Alright. I will help you and I will defend you and little Harry to the death."
"That's why you're the godmother."
You gasped and smiled, "Really?"
"And I'm the godfather," Sirius said.
"Oh god, you'll kill it," you said, joking.
"Hey! I can take care of a baby."
"You are a baby." Remus joined in.
You all had a few laughs.
"I see this is settled. We will stay for the night and leave during the early morning hours one at a time." Kingsley said. "But I have a few other things to manage. Albus and I will be leaving within the hour. Please get rest and you," he looked at you, "Shower. You reek of dog and mud."
Laughter erupted as you huffed. You walked up the stairs to the bathroom, bag and wand in tow. You washed your hair with your shampoo and pulled out several sticks, leaves, and one or two bugs. You hated the damn woods. You scrubbed yourself clean of all the mud and dirt til your skin was almost raw. You got out of the shower to see two beautifully plush towels on the sink, Remus's sweater and pair of flowy pants that appeared to be washed and cleaned, and a note.
"You need a little pampering. The towels are for you, fresh from the dryer and the outfit is clean and I am going to wash all your clothes in the morning -R"
You smiled as you grabbed the towels, dried yourself off, and put your hair up in one. You placed the other one in the hamper before getting dressed and digging in your bag for a toothbrush and hairbrush. You brushed your teeth and sat the damp brush on the tiny rack you then stepped out and walked to the stairwell to see Sirius sprawled out on the couch and James sitting in his recliner. You were about to say something when you felt an arm snake around your waist and a head placed on your shoulder.
"Missed you." He whispered.
You sighed, "Missed you more."
"Let's go to bed." He nuzzled into your neck, while the offer was tempting.
"I need to check on Lily."
"She's a grown woman."
You tilted your head to look at him, "She and that baby are my responsibility now."
He sighed as he spun you to face him, "She's on the first floor, with the door wide open and two of the best wizards listening and watching over her."
"It's a woman thing."
Remus rolled his eyes as he let you go. You kissed his cheek as you walked down the stairs and looked into the room with the open door. Yeah, those two were totally watching her. She was trying to close the window to no avail. You walked her and gently grabbed her hand, "Lily, I got this. Go lay down."
She huffed, "I am pregnant, not elderly!"
"I know, I know but you know as well as I do that'd I'd do this regardless."
She rolled her eyes as she walked back to bed, she crawled into it and folded the sheets over her before turning on her side. You shut the window and locked it, "Do you need anything else?"
"Water?"
You smiled and shook your head, you walked to the kitchen and grabbed a cup. You got a few ice cubes and filled it up with water, on your way you stopped.
"James, go to bed, it's almost ten. Siri-" A loud snore interrupted you, and you sighed. "Keep up the good work."
James stood up and walked to you, "Be honest."
"Always am."
"Am I ready for this?"
"Oh hell no," you said, placing your hand on your hip. "But then again, no one really is. Every parent and child are different." You handed him the glass. "All that matters is that you are there. Every day, Every moment, every chance. You have to be there."
He shook his head, "Thanks." he lifted it up.
"That's for her, you idiot."
You walked up the stairs to the second door and opened it. You walked in to see Remus sitting on the side of the bed, facing away from the door. You pulled the towel off your head and hung it on the back of a chair. You grabbed the hair brush from your pocket and began brushing your hair as you walked to the bed. You slid your knees on the bed and sat down the hairbrush as you looped your arms under his and leaned to his shoulder so you could rest your head.
"How is she?"
"Sleepy, happy, and hydrated," you responded.
He turned to look at you and you stared back into his beautiful honey eyes that glowed in the barely lit room. He placed his hand on the side of your face and leaned in. He gently kissed your lips and you returned the kiss. After a moment, he pulled away, hand still on your face, "You're beautiful."
You blushed and smiled, "Rem, let's go to bed. You look tired."
He shook his head as he got up and walked to turn off the light switch, you moved to the right side of the bed and folded back the sheets so you could lay under them. Remus walked back to the bed and crawled in beside you. You were turned facing the window, he was right behind you, head in the crook of your neck.
"Babe?"
"Yes?"
"I missed you."
"You told me."
"You still love me, right?"
"Forever."
He placed a gentle kiss on your neck, "Forever is a very long time."
"I know. It's a good thing." You said, eyes filling with sleep. He placed a few more kisses, going down your neck to where the sweater was blocking him, He reached up a hand to gently move it down your shoulder. You breathed out lightly.
"No hickies."
"They won't care. They know."
You laughed lightly, "That's... Not the point."
"Do you want me to stop?" he whispered in your ear.
"I didn't say that either." You flipped over to face him but before you could finish your remark he pulled you into a kiss. It quickly turned heated as he nipped at your bottom lip, making you open your mouth, he slipped his tongue in your mouth as you both slowly started to grind up against each other. You pulled away.
"Remus..."
"No, shh. They're asleep, they won't hear us."
You shook your head, "No I- Can we go faster?"
His eyes glinted, "Oh." he said, more seductively than he should've. He flipped back the sheets and stood on his knees as you slid to be fully on your back. He slowly unbuttoned his pajama shirt and flung it to god knows where in the dark room. The only light was the moonlight, it glowed around him, outlining his features in silver light. You sat up and he took his hands and ran them up your shirt to gently pull it off you. He took a moment to look at you. You also looked stunning in the moonlight. He leaned in to kiss you and you roped your arms around his neck, pulling him closer. As always, he left you breathless as you laid back. He kissed your neck, nipping and sucking ever so often. It made your breathing uneven. It had been a long time since you and he had done this last. Since you were both extremely faithful neither of you had pleasured themselves, done this with other people, or even thought about it with anyone else or on your own. Two years of pent of friction were about to let loose.
He kissed all the way down til he reach your pant line, he looked up at you. You lifted up your hips and he jerked your pants down and off, he continue kissing as he then looped his finger around your panties, he removed those but he wanted to look cool so he swung them around his finger before flinging them away like his shirt. You sighed and rolled your eyes as you sat up on your arms. Remus looked up at you as he continued kissing down your thighs, your hand slipped to his hair, lightly tugging with impatience. He lightly laughed as he finally caved to your silent demands, he slowly licked a stripe up your slit, it made you lightly shiver.
He licked your folds a few more times before moving to your clit, he also slowly moved a finger up to stretch you. You pulled his hair tighter as he started to speed up. He was having the time of his life as he licked and sucked, making you lightly moan. He had thought about this ever since you got given the assignment to watch a camp of Death Eaters. He missed you and doing this with you. He could barely wait so he decided to stop, which drew a whine from you.
You were about to protest until you saw him pulling at his pants, tugging them off as quickly as he could. You went to help but he grabbed your hand. He looked up at you with lust-blown eyes. "Let me do the work tonight." He let your hands drop as he moved to place a kiss on your lips. He kissed you hard and rough as he finally kicked off his pants. He released the kiss so he could grip your thighs and slowly move you closer to him. You breathed heavily, watching him with expecting eyes, you slid your hands down his back, lightly tickling him.
He slowly pushed in, eliciting a moan from you, he gave you a minute until he started moving. In fluid motions, he dragged in and out at a pace that was becoming too slow for you, you bucked your hips, a sign for him to speed up. He slowly increased the pace, the headboard was hitting against the wall, denoting any squelched and heavy breathing .
"F-Fuck! Harder!" you called out, louder than you intended. He looked down at you.
"Shh.. They'll hear."
You wanted to scoff but he sped up and started going deeper. You choked on your moan and he lightly laughed. You were clawing at his back and shoulders, turning to hold yourself together. You reached one hand up into his hair and pulled and he let out a moan louder than yours. You smiled at two things: your retaliation and the fact that Remus was reaching for the headboard. You watched as his hand splayed out to steady himself. But then you remembered who was in the next room over, you were about to object when Remus slammed into you, taking your breath away. He continued fucking you until you started grabbing at his arm, preparing yourself and squeezing him.
"Re- Please. Please. Please." you let out a chorus, keeping tune this the bed lightly banging on the wall. He continued until you let you one last loud, guttural moan that could have been mistaken for a scream, out. He pulled out just as he came, staining the yellow sheets white. You both breathed heavily, eyes hooded with exhaustion.
"We have to clean this up," Remus said, interrupting the peace while reaching for his wand. You sat up and stumbled to the wash basin, you looked at Remus and motioned for your wand. He tossed it to you. You swished the wand, making water come out to fill the basin, you grabbed one of the washcloths and dipped it in the water. You cleaned yourself first, getting in all the places that would become sweaty or sticky. After you were done, you dumped the water out the window, grabbed a new washcloth for Remus, and refilled the water. You carried it over to the bed and reached your hand to the cloth, wrung it out, and slowly wiped Remus's back, where the marks left by your nails were turning red.
"Sorry about those," you whispered. A gentle, lovey air had fallen over the room. He turned his head to look at you.
"It's alright, I take them as a compliment," he said, reaching to take the cloth from you. You smiled as you looked at his back: your nail marks, the scars he'd collected, and his beauty marks that made his own personal constellation. You slowly connected them by tracing lines with your finger. When he was done with the washcloth, he handed it to you as you stood up and walked to dump this round of water out the window. He watched you walk, admiring you. You turned and saw him staring holes through you. You blushed as you walked back to bed, laying down beside him. You were both too tired to change back into your pajamas so you two gently touched each other's bare skin until you drifted off to sleep. Remus stayed awake for a moment longer, feeling your warmth as sleep invaded his mind.
"I love you," he said, just barely a whisper.
Remus felt a chill go across his shoulders, they woke up and scanned the room to see the window was cracked. He lightly sighed as he looked over to see you still sleeping. He watched your body rise and fall with every breath, stuttering ever so often, you were gently snoring. He brushed a few strands of your hair out of your face as he looked at your peaceful sleeping face, he was thinking about all the things you must've gone through. He wasn't there to protect you but he was now and he swore he was never going to let anything hurt you. He turned his head back to the window, the sun was barely up, he could get some more sleep or he could gently wake you so you two could make breakfast together. He decided to do that. He gently dragged his fingers across your cheek, down your back, and on your shoulder, whispering your name. Your eyes fluttered open, sleep stained and glossed over, you smiled when you saw his face, your own hand came up to graze across it. He grasped your hand as he sat up.
"It's early," he said, voice calm and quiet. "Wanna make breakfast?"
You sighed, eyes threatening to close, "Yeah yeah... Hand me my pants and your shirt."
"My shirt?"
You sat up on your free arm, "Yeah, that's what you get for waking me up."
He shook his head as he stood up, grabbed his own change of clothes, and tossed you his shirt. You slid it on your arms and began to button it up, it smelled like him. Old books, ink, coffee and chocolate. You looked up at him as he was about to slip on a new shirt, you let out a whistle, making him look at you. He flung a pair of shorts he'd dug out of your bag at you. You slipped them on. You both quietly walked the stairs and to the kitchen, trying not to wake anyone just yet. You walked to the fridge, looking for milk, eggs, cream, and butter while Remus found a pan, opened the bread box, and lit the gas stove.
"Put on a pot of coffee," you said, quietly. He grabbed the kettle and put it on the eye, he then walked to you and let his hand rest on your hips while the other reached for the oatmeal. You smiled as you cracked the eggs into a bowl.
"Sweetheart, where's the-Oh." he handed you a whisk, "Thank you, could you put on a pan for the eggs? Add some butter to it."
"Sure, I'll cook them, you always burn them." he said, you looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
You whisked up the eggs and added some milk, salt, and pepper. You handed the bowl to Remus who poured them into a hot pan. You grabbed the kettle when it began to squeal. You poured the scalding water into the french press where Remus had put the coffee grounds and let it steep. You went back to the fridge and dug around til you found some lemons and a melon.
"Some fresh fruit would be nice." Remus said when he looked at what you had pulled from the fridge. You pulled out your wand and flicked it to cut the melon to save some time, you put the cut cubes into a bowl to which you cut the lemon and squeezed the juice into. You ate a piece, enjoying the taste, you picked up another piece and walked to Remus. You tapped on his shoulder and he looked at you, saw what you had and opened his mouth. You both ate some of it until you heard footsteps to the kitchen, you both looked up to see a chipper Sirius Black. He looked at you both, smiling a mischievous grin. Shit.
"Enjoyed yourselves?" he asked. You turned bright red and Remus began choking on the melon in his mouth. Sirius looked between the two of you before walking to the bowl and grabbing himself a piece. "Poor Severus. He must've gotten a worse earful."
Speaking of him, Severus stumbled down the stairs and rounded into the kitchen where he looked at you three before looking at the pot of coffee. He walked to it, grabbed a cup from the mug rack.
"Sev-"
"Not a word."
He took a sip of his coffee, looking at Remus, then to you.
"So... how'd you sleep?" Remus asked. Sour expression undying on Snape's face.
"Perfectly. Fine." he bit out.
You were about to say something when Sirius held up a hand, silencing the group. He looked up to the ceiling. Footsteps. You four slowly drew your wands. You wait a minute before you heard a crash, you grabbed Remus and Sirius grabbed Snape as the roof collapsed. You flicked your wand, creating a smoke screen. You all had prepared for this. You ran to James and Lily's room, fling the door open and slamming it shut behind you. You looked at the Potters, who had woken up from the crash.
"James! Get her out of here!" You shouted as you heard slamming and spells being cast outside the door. "Anywhere but here!" He shook his hand as he grabbed the emergency bag and then his wife. They apparated away as soon as the door blew in, with your wand drawn, you swung it toward the opponent, white sparks flying out.
You dodged a spell, you yelled "Ventus Duo!" you yelled, a strong wind coming from you wand, you walked forward, repelling them back. "Petrificious Totalus!" your target stiffened up and fell to the ground. You ran back to the kitchen to see Snape and Sirius dealing some serious damage to the Death Eaters. You looked for Remus and saw him on the floor, you ran to him, and you held his head as he blinked rapidly.
"Where.. am I?" he asked. He'd been knocked silly.
You looked at Sirius, "Sirius! We need to get out of here!"
He looked at you, deflecting a spell. "Aright alright, lemme think." something clicked behind his eyes as he twirled his wand around in a circle, "Protego Diabolica!" he yelled, making a ring of black fire appear around the group. You grabbed a hold of Severus and Remus as Sirrus grabbed you and you apparated away from the house.
What rude interuptions.
Remus shook from the wind, it was a horrible night. He hurried up the path, following slightly behind you when you lifted a hand to stop him. He looked at you, words about to come out and say how he just wanted to go in already and how it was cold but they were stalled. The gate open, The door open, and the faint cries of a baby. You broke into a sprint, Remus following behind you. Remus got to the door, wand drawn, you followed right behind him and gasped at what you saw.
The lamp was broken, the furniture was ajar, and James.
James Potter.
Unblinking.
Smile gone.
Deathly Pale.
Glassed over eye staring off, faint with tears.
You covered your mouth but then you heard Harry cry, you ran up the stairs, worried about him, you ran to his nursey, hoping he wasn't hurt. You opened the door, hitting a fallen table. Inside you saw Snape, instantly you drew your wand and pointed at him but you let it fall to your side when you saw what he was doing. He was holding her, rocking as he wept. You began to cry as you walked to Harry and picked him up. You looked him over, only seeing a scar on his forehead. You kissed it and looked at Snape.
"Sev... We need to get Albus."
He stilled and looked at you, shaking his head. He gently laid Lily back down. Her eyes were closed, her face growing pale. You turned Harry away from her. "Shh... Auntie is here. Shh." you cooed, trying to calm him as you walked down the stairs, Severus following behind you. You Saw Remus just staring down at his friend, a million thoughts going on behind his tear-filled eyes. You brought a hand to his shoulder, trying to comfort him. He just walked away and out the door, you followed, wondering what he was doing. He rose his wand to the sky and slowly, white sparks flew out of the tip, lighting up the sky. The distress signal.
After a few hours, Kingsley, Arthur and Molly Weasley appeared. Severus calmly told them what had happened. You rocked Harry as you heard what he said. Tears rolled down everyone's faces. You slowly slipped your hand into Remus's, he held it tightly as turned to take Harry from you. You were confused and pulled back.
"Give him to me."
"Why? He's sleeping now. You'll wake him."
Kingsley spoke for Remus, "hagrid is going to take Harry to Albus, he'll give them to Harry's new family."
You were highly offended at that statement, "What does that old man know about family! Harry is my godson! We can take care of him! Can't we Remus?" you said, looking at him. Remus just looked at you with sad eyes, it clicked instantly. This had been the plan all along, you started to cry harder. Remus pried Harry from you, you would never forgive him for this. Molly walked to you, hugging you as you and she walked to the flying car she and her husband, Arthur had arrived in.
"We are going to head to the Burrow, dear. It'll be okay." she said as Arthur opened the car door for you. You slid in and curled into yourself, finally letting the loud cries out. Molly sat in the back with you, slowly rubbing your back, comforting you.
Remus looked as the taillight of the car faded into the night sky. He looked down at Harry, who was now awake, and looking up at him, he saw Lily's eyes looking back. Kingsley walked up to him. Looking at the baby, he spoke.
"He'll be here any minute."
"Is this really for the best?"
"Yes. he needs to be with blood family. I don't doubt her or your parenting abilities, rather, if it were up to me, you would be needing to babyproof your house."
Remus looked at the little boy again, he was just staring up, watching and listening. "We're going to miss so much. 11 years til she'll see him again, do you think he'll recognize her?" that was a silly question.
"I don't know." Kingsley said, reaching his hand to hold Harry's. A loud horn and a single headlight interrupted the moment. They looked up to see a motorbike. Sirius was in the side car while Hagrid was driving. With a slightly bumpy landing, they slid to a stop in front of the three men. Sirius got out of the sidecar and ran to Remus.
"Is he alright?" he looked around for you, then remembered the plan.
"He look al'ight, but that'll scar, won't it? " Hargird said, pointing at the cut.
Sirius brushed the wisps of Harry's hair to see it clearer. "I think so but I hope not. Hagrid."
Hagrid held out his hands for the baby, Remus took one last look at the baby's green eyes before giving him to the half-giant man. Sirius looked at Remus.
"It'll be okay, Moony."
"No. No, it won't."
You were sitting at the table, drinking a cup of tea, faint sobs radiating off you. You were interrupted by a poke. You looked down at the two-year-old twin, Fred. You smiled the best you could. It was getting light outside and from what Molly said, the twins were up the second they felt the presence of people. You looked at him.
"Where's George?"
Another poke on your other side answered you, and you smiled, wiping the tears.
"No cry!" Fred said, grabbing your hand.
"Smiles. Yes?" George said, grabbing your other.
"Okay, see!" you smiled brightly, showing teeth. They smiled at you too. You laughed lightly as you stood up, "You guys hungry?" that was the right question to ask. A chorus of Hungry and Apple rang through the house. You reached for the apples and a knife, chopped them into thin slices after washing, put them on a plate, and helped Fred and George into chairs. You three ate apples.
"Don't tell your brother but you two are my favorite."
The twins grinned with apple in their teeth. You laughed lightly but you jerked your head when you heard the door open. Molly, Arthur and Remus walked in. You looked to the floor.
"Mommy!" the twins yelled as they ran to Molly, She picked up George and Arthur picked up Fred. you looked at them, waiting for news. Arthur satisfied your curiosity but it wasn't what you wanted to hear.
"Harry is safe but Sirius is being taken to prison." He covered Fred's ears when he said this. You jumped up, knocking over the tea cup.
"What?"
"They think he told... You-Know-Who where they were."
"That's insane!" you said, wiping up the spilled tea.
"Well...we also killed... twelve muggles," Molly said. You just couldn't believe it. You walked to the table and propped yourself on your arms.
"I... I want to go home..." You calmly said. You walked to them, you said goodbye to the Weasleys, and walked out, coat in hand. Remus followed you.
You were kicking off your boots and propping them back up when Remus finally spoke to you. "Hey. I-"
"Remus! Don't." you snapped. He looked at you.
"Don't yell at me!"
"After what you did, I can do whatever I want to! You-" you stomped your foot in frustration, "Just you!"
"I tried! I tried okay?" he said, voice rising.
"Obviously not very hard! Cause where is Harry? Where is he!? Not here. Where he should be!"
"I know! But I did try! I didn't know they were even thinking of this until a week ago!"
"And you didn't tell me? What the actual fuck Remus!"
He tried to breathe and not yell but he couldn't hold it, "I didn't want you to worry about something that until tonight, I didn't think would happen! I tried to do what's best for you! But you are too dense and selfish to realize it! I always try to! But do you do the same for me? No! No, you don't."
"You are just bringing this up now?! If you had a problem with how I was treating you, you could've said something dammit! I am not a mind reader!"
He looked at you, anger prevalent on his face, he turned, flung open the door, walked out, and slammed it behind him. You jumped at the noise. "Damn you!" you picked up your shoes and threw them at the door, tears of rage sprinting down your face. You fell to your knees as you pathetically threw the last shoe, barely hitting the door. You sat there and wailed for what felt like hours. Everything had gone wrong. You stood back up and walked to the door, you looked out the peephole to see him standing with his back turned so you couldn't see his face. You were about to open the door but you let your hand drop, you turned and walked to the hallway stairs and sat down.
You were going to have a busy day tomorrow.
The funeral was announced in two days. You were getting dressed in your black outfit, it was a simple shirt, skirt, heels, and a hat. You watched as a raindrop dripped down the window pane, it was a fitting atmosphere for the day. You breathed in and out shakily, you turned to the mirror, looking at your face that seemed to have aged overnight. You had lost everything.
Your best friend, Lily.
Your confidant, Sirius.
Your brother from another mother, James.
Your voice of reason, Peter.
Your lover, Remus.
You felt tears burn when you thought about them all. You all were too damn young for this. You wiped the few tears away as you walked downstairs, grabbed your umbrella, and walked out the door.
It was a cab ride and walk. You and Remus had agreed that it was a beautiful place to live but you had moved back in with your mother. You knew you were getting close when you saw familiar faces and black umbrellas. You saw Severus, he didn’t have an umbrella. You walked up to him and covered his head with yours.
“Hello.”
“Morning.”
You two didn’t talk much but you enjoyed his calm presence, even though he had every ability to be sarcastic to the point to where he was just rude.
“How are coping?”
“It’s… a lot harder than I thought it would be.” His voice lightly cracked. You put a hand on his shoulder.
“She was great. No one was prepared to be without her.”
“No, no one is ever really ready to let anyone go.”
“She’ll be in our hearts.”
“Always.”
You and Severus walked closer to the grave, holding the two white roses you were given to place on the two caskets. Your breath was becoming in even as you placed your rose on Lily's casket lid. You turned to James’s and we’re about to place the rose when you saw him. You stood straighter and looked back down the casket.
“Some other time Jamie? You would have been great for Harry.”
You placed your rose and walked away from the casket, Severus stayed with you and Remus stood a few people apart from you. You felt tears streaking down your face, Severus noticed, handed you his handkerchief, and reached for your hand. You wanted to just burst into tears, run to Remus, slap him, hug him and go back home but you would never do that.
Remus noticed you and Severus, jealousy and rage bubbling up, becoming visible on his face.
Everyone had said some nice words when you slowly began to leave. You and Severus walked to the mouth of Godric’s Hollow so you could get a cab and not look suspicious when you returned to your mostly muggle neighborhood.
He opened the door for you, “See you at Hogwarts?”
You had agreed to take the Muggle Studies position after the unfortunate passing of Professor Ordeailic. Forty-nine years of service, one year away from retirement.
“See you then, maybe sooner. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to come to visit or write.”
He shook his head and closed the door. He watched the cab drive away in the rain, he turned and saw Remus.
“Lupin.”
“Snape.”
“Why were you no-“
“We called off the engagement.”
He was surprised, you and Remus were so in love. “I am sorry to hear that.”
Remus took a few steps closer, “Are you though? You and her seem rather close.”
Snape sighed, “She was crying and I did a courtesy by offering her something to wipe her tears with, and besides, she isn’t… she’s lovely but it’s a no for two reasons.”
“Which are?”
“She loves you and I don’t love her.”
Remus looked him up and down, he was right about the last part. “I don’t think she loves me anymore.”
“You’re an idiot.”
Remus was taken aback slightly. “What?”
“Now, don’t tell her I told you this but I heard from Albus, that Arthur had come to the Burrow for dinner and after dinner, she talked about you until she fell asleep. She’s too proud to tell you but she misses you.”
Remus just looked down. “I am sor-“
Snape just shook his head, “No need to be sorry. But I would go makeup.” He said, walking away from Remus and disappearing. Remus knew what he had to do.

The Raven Daughter | FemHarry AU
Chapter 18: All Hallow's Eve
Neville immediately recalled the morning his Gran arrived at the breakfast table announcing she had arranged for him to meet Emma Potter - that the girl, accompanied by her uncle, Mr. Lupin were going to come to the manor the following weekend for tea. Tizzy had leapt with joy at the news, raving about how honoured she’d be to serve the young witch. And Neville was, at first, quite perplexed. People spoke of Emma like they did the myths and legends in his bedtime stories. It was almost jarring to realize that she wasn’t just the baby carved from bronze - the statue Gran took him to see when he was four years old when he’d started asking questions about his own parents. The one where she was cradled in her parents' heroic arms in front of the ruins of their home with bouquets in various stages of decay scattered at their feet. He remembered staring at the baby while clasping his Gran’s hand very tightly, wondering how that little thing had saved the world. He remembered feeling sad for her, because she had lost her parents, and he sort of knew what that was like.  “Where is she now?” he had asked while standing there. “Somewhere safe,” she assured him.
Summary:
Emma Potter - The Girl Who Lived - finds herself rescued from the Dursleys by an unexpected saviour: Severus Snape, a man tormented by his past mistakes yet resentful of what he must do to atone for them.
When forced to search for Emma’s new home, Dumbledore reaches out to Remus Lupin, presenting him with two compelling requests: to serve as his private researcher and, more importantly, to become Emma's new guardian.
Emma's life intertwines with the fates of Remus and Severus as an elusive, dark threat lurks in the shadows. Throughout the story, the two men navigate the delicate balance between protecting Emma and unravelling the depths of their haunted pasts. Meanwhile, Emma begins her own unique journey lit by the fire of her insatiable curiosity.

Theodore Nott is well aware of magic and Wizardry alike, he knows of charms and potions like the back of his hand. He knows the effect it might have on a person, how long it can last, and how it tastes —trust him on this, he’s had people slip love potions in his pumpkin juice countless of times before (he tried reaching out to the Professors for assistance but Snape only ended up putting students who looked at Theodore too weirdly into detention, didn’t really work though, seeing as he got slipped another potion a week later).
But, since he knows it oh so well then why was he having the hardest time trying to come up with why he feels so drawn to you? Why he so incredibly desires you? And why does he miss you so much even when you’re still here, next to him, as you’re bidding him goodbye?
You’re smiling at him, and it’s soft; it’s so sweet, you’re so sweet to him, it hurts his heart. He doesn’t want to let you go, and neither do you. But it’s getting late, and he knows you have an early class tomorrow —so does he. Your hands are in his; the both of you standing in front of your common room.
“I’ll see you tomorrow?” You say lowly, not wanting to disturb the sleeping painting. You’re caring, and Theo loves it. You’re good to the people around you, you’re good to him; and he wonders if you’ve casted a spell on his heart and head to make him think so highly of you. “Breakfast?”
“Mhmm,” he hums first, nodding. “Breakfast,” he repeats after you, his hand not loosening its grip on yours. “I’ll see you at breakfast.”
“You will,” you murmur. “Oh! And before I forget,” you say, slipping off your (well, technically his) jacket of your shoulders. “Thank you for this.”
You nudge it over to him and Theodore doesn’t  make any move to take it. “Keep it,” he says, the position of the jacket is awkward —uncomfortable even, laying between your joint hands as it fell pathetically to the floor. He’s not letting go of you anytime soon, and neither is he accepting his jacket back either. “It looks better on you.”
“But it’s yours,” you tell him and he’s stubborn, still not accepting it, “and if I keep it then it won’t smell like you anymore.”
He tries to think straight, to stand his ground on how the jacket is yours now; but when your reason is so so (what’s the word?) endearing, how could he ever say no to you?
So he finally lets go of your hand, picking the jacket up and tossing it over his shoulder as he hopes that you don’t notice just how badly he’s falling for you, how he’s practically falling apart as he stands before you right then and there.
And when you smile at him, even brighter this time, with you going on your tippy toes as you did so. “Goodnight, Theo,” you say first, then you kissed him, so quick and so chaste that he barely get to savor you before pulling away. And when you tell him: “I promise to dream of you.”
He can’t help but press his lips back onto yours, one, two, three, more times before finally letting you go.
It’s when he watches you leave when he finally understands why he feels so completely drawn to you. You’ve bewitched him; through and through, and he could only hope that your curse will not wear off anytime soon.

Kinktober Day 10: Cock Warming
Tumblr media
Severus Snape x GN! Reader
Summary: Staying with Severus in the only way he'll let you when in his chair.
Warnings: Smut, Not at Hogwarts, Sitting in lap, Cock Warming, Begging
Kinktober Masterlist
Minors do not interact!
Tumblr media
Stepping down the stairs, coming into the cold early morning, missing your love, and with a moment of desperation, rolling out of bed in search for Severus.
Setting your eyes on the worn chair on which sat him, still wearing what he had slept in and his hair a mess.
Seeing your domestic-looking Severus made the morning feel fuzzy. You walked quietly to him, watching as the newspaper moved down and seeing the dark bags take up his undereyes. You climbed up onto his chair, setting your knees on the side. Running your hands up to his chest, making him put down the paper. Cuddling up to his chest, hearing his heartbeat as he softly breathes.
In turn, his hands softly plant onto your body, then move up and down, enjoying your now-fulfilled morning. Feeling as his hands move down but not back up, stilling your thoughts as they move down, peeling up your thin clothes. He hummed approval while moving his hips, rubbing up against you, feeling his hardening cock rising through the fabric.
"Severus," you whisper as the warm friction trickles through your body, not stopping his movement only pushing aside your underwear and touching you. Moans curl from you both, quickly his hand pulling out his hardened cock, watching it slowly disappear into you.
Rolling back your head as his cock fills you as the morning light sighted through the small windows, his moans deep as his cock buried inside. Wrapping his arms around you, pulling you to his chest, catching your breaths, then holding back your laugh to the sound of the newspaper being picked up. Letting his cock be held comfortably in you as you both enjoyed the warmth of the morning in different ways.

The First Perfect Christmas
PAIRING: Severus Snape x Reader
SUMMARY: For the first time in Severus's life, he won't be celebrating Christmas alone. This time, he'll spend the holidays with you, his girlfriend. Since it's your favorite holiday, Severus tries to get you every Christmas gift on your wishlist. But when not all the items you want are available, Severus worries that he'll ruin your Christmas and disappoint you.
Warning: a very brief reference to child/domestic abuse and there's angst, but there's nothing intense. Merry Christmas to those who celebrate and even if you don’t, I hope you have a wonderful day! I know I haven’t published in a while since my life has been busy, but I wanted to at least write something for the holiday season. Also, I tried my best to use British English terms (I know I didn’t use British spelling, though) but I may not have gotten them all since I’m ✨American✨.

For the first time in his life, Severus Snape’s Christmas won’t be one of loneliness. He spent his childhood Christmases with his parents, but being with his parents was like being with no one at all. Every Christmas was the same; his father drank himself into a violent rage and his mother sat on the couch in silence. Severus envied the children who received the newest toys and ate warm meals beside a grand tree. At the very least, Severus wanted to spend time with his family even if there was no tree in the corner of the living room. Wasn’t Christmas time supposed to be full of holiday cheer and merry greetings?
You are the only person who makes him feel happy during the holidays. He stuck his nose up at the Christmas decorations around Hogwarts and not a single tinsel could be found in his quarters. But when the clock struck midnight on the First of December, you required him to add some holiday cheer to his quarters. He placed a mini tree in the living room, hung stockings above his fireplace, and lined the doorframe to his bedroom with garland. The colorful ornaments you gave him for the tree are a little too bright and tacky, but it doesn’t matter; he’d do anything to make you happy.
On the other hand, you decked out your Hogsmeade cottage in the spirit of the holidays. A train chugs around a miniature Christmas village, the large tree displays red globes and floating snowflakes, and a beautiful snow globe with white horses rests on your mantle. The aroma of gingerbread cookies and plum cake wafts from your kitchen as Severus walks into your cottage. You peek into the living room from the kitchen and smile widely as you see him come in.
“Come here!” you say enthusiastically to him, but you run towards him and pull him into the kitchen before he even has a chance to oblige. There are many baked goods on the counter, ranging from gingerbread cookies with iced smiles to a Yule log that actually looks like it was cut from a tree. Without warning, you shove something in Severus’s mouth and he almost spits it out from the surprise.
“How’s the plum cake? I’m in between giving my neighbors a plum cake or a plum pie. They said they like anything with plums, but a pie and a cake aren’t the same thing. So, what do you think I should bake them?” You look at him expectantly as he chews on the plum cake. It is absolutely delicious; it’s moist and not too sweet. Severus swallows the last bite and is about to respond when your eyes widen and you gasp. “Oh wait! I forgot to give you the pie!” Once again, Severus almost chokes as you shove the plum pie into his mouth.
“Now what do you think?” you ask him. Severus stares blankly at you. He doesn’t want to make the wrong choice and therefore disappoint you, especially since you’re looking up at him with expectant eyes. What if he chooses the cake and the neighbors deem it not moist enough? Or what if he tells you to bake the pie and the neighbors don’t like doughy desserts? It’s a minor decision to make, but he never wants to upset you; so, he chooses the sweet he likes more.
“I prefer the cake,” Severus says, pointing at the dessert on the counter. You beam at him and wave your wand to pop another cake into the oven.
“Thanks! Now why don’t you sit down on the couch and I’ll clean the kitchen up?” Before he can oblige, you gently push him out of the kitchen to immerse himself in the Christmas wonderland of your living room.
Severus sits next to the arm of the couch and looks around the room as he patiently waits for you. He notices an open journal on the side table and leans forward to look at the top page. It’s a list of some sort: a snow globe, notepad, pillow, and Iridescent Ink. Every wizard knows what Iridescent Ink is and he thinks the ‘pillow’ is the one he saw you looking at in Hogsmeade. The snow globe on your list likely refers to the one featuring Diagon Alley with reindeer flying overhead. He remembers how you gushed over how cute the reindeer were and how magical Diagon Alley looked… Wait, is this supposed to be your Christmas wishlist?
Severus’s head snaps to the snowman Christmas countdown, which lets him know that there are twelve days until your favorite holiday. Twelve days should be plenty to find all the gifts you want, but he still internally smacks himself for forgetting to buy gifts until now.
He immediately straightens in his seat and rips his gaze from your journal when you enter the room, carrying two mugs of steaming liquid. You wrap your arms around him and Severus blushes crimson. Even though you’ve been dating for almost a year now, Severus reacts the same way whenever you touch him. “I can’t wait to cuddle with you tonight. It’s been extra cold recently.” You rest your head on his shoulder and gaze up at him.
Yes, his thoughts about the pillow were definitely right. The pillow shapes itself around both sides of your body and adjusts when you move. He remembers how you teased him when you said, “I need something to cuddle with when you’re not here to be my body pillow every night.”
“I regret not being here to keep you warm every night, though you know that my responsibilities at Hogwarts are the only factors keeping me away from you.” Severus blushes again at your closeness and looks down. On the weekends, Severus stays overnight at your Hogsmeade cottage. You snuggle so closely and wrap your legs around his so tightly that your bodies are practically fused together. Although he isn’t particularly fond of being confined underneath your body, he does appreciate the warmth that envelopes him. “Even when I am slaving away under Dumbledore’s orders, you can always use a warming spell on nights like these.”
“Mmm, but I prefer it when you keep me warm.” Any thoughts about the hot chocolate awaiting him on the table flee his mind when you cup his face and kiss him on the lips.
After a night of suffocating cuddles, Severus untangles himself from your arms and slips out of the bed. When you stir awake and attempt to pull him back into the bed, Severus whispers an excuse about needing to retrieve essays to grade. You press a wet kiss to his cheek, murmur a farewell, and fall right back to sleep. He’s thankful that your shift at Scrivenshaft’s is later in the day since you won’t catch him apparating to Diagon Alley.
Stores in Diagon Alley have just opened when Severus apparates there. He heads straight for Scribbulus Writing Implements to buy Iridescent Ink for you. Rows and rows of ink line the shelves, making it impossible for him to find Iridescent Ink among colors like Eccentric Emerald and Plum Paradise. After he finds three jars, he heads for Rosa Lee Teabag. Even if you didn’t ask for tea on your wishlist, Severus still buys a box of your favorite tea. Then, a book with moving illustrations displayed in the shop window of Flourish and Blotts catches his eye. His cheeks burn when the cashier asks if it’s for his child, but his momentary embarrassment is worth it since you love books with colorful, detailed illustrations. Perhaps it could be passed on to his future child too.
He remembers seeing your desired snow globe at Ethereal Embellishments Emporium. House-themed snow globes line the top shelf and snow globes with a crackling fireplace lie below. Severus’s brow furrows when he notices that the Diagon Alley snow globe is missing. Try as he might to scavenge through the store and rearrange the shelves, Severus can’t find it.
Even when he asks the store clerk if there are any Diagon Alley snow globes in their inventory, his inquiry remains unsuccessful. She comes back with a box containing a snow globe in the shape of a lantern. A snowman and snowwoman hug each other and wave at the person outside the glass while snow falls around them. Severus frowns as he turns the snow globe in his hand. One reason why you like the Diagon Alley snow globe is because of the cute reindeer flying overhead, and this snow globe has cute snowpeople. Even though it’s nice, it isn’t the one you wanted. After handing it back to the store clerk, her thanks her for her time and leaves the store.
Awkwardly standing in the middle of the street, Severus feels a sense of dread as he considers where else he can find that snow globe. Dazzling Decorations Depot and Hartigan’s Holiday House both sell Christmas decorations. Though when he visits the two shops, he finds out that Hartigan’s has sold out of snow globes and Dazzling Decorations Depot doesn’t even sell snow globes.
His dread turns into panic. He only bought the Iridescent Ink, which can be bought at any stationery shop. The Hogsmeade store that sells the pillow is closed on the weekends. He’s afraid that if he purchases it on Monday, you’ll catch him walking back to Hogwarts with the pillow in hand. He can’t buy the notepad from Scrivenshaft’s either since you work there today and it’s closed on Sunday. The only other day you have off is Tuesday, but it may be sold out by then.
Of course, Severus can gift you items other than what’s on your wishlist. But what if you get angry that he didn’t get you everything on your wishlist? What if you don’t like the gifts he’s chosen for you? Would this ruin your Christmas? Examining the contents of the shopping bags from Rosa Lee Teabag and Flourish and Blotts, Severus can't shake the thought that the items he purchased aren’t good enough for you.
After returning to Hogwarts, Severus drops off what he bought and retrieves the essays he actually does need to grade. He returns to your cottage and sits at your kitchen table, grading the essays. Reading his students’ subpar papers on the properties of Wolfsbane Potion does nothing to distract him from his thoughts, especially as he hears the toot of the train chugging around the Christmas village. You decorated your cottage in the Christmas spirit, make him Holiday Blancmange every weekend, and send sweet notes to his office in Hogwarts Castle. Meanwhile, he hadn’t even thought to start buying gifts until yesterday.
Severus’s eyes brighten as you return home from work, but his gaze holds a bit of sadness as he thinks about what a poor excuse of a boyfriend he is. You laugh as you close the front door and quickly hide something behind your back. “Give me a second!” you say enthusiastically to him and dash into your bedroom. He finishes marking an essay as he hears you rearranging items in your room.
You come back into the kitchen and wrap your arms around him from behind. “How was your day, sweetheart?”
“It can only ever be average when I must read my students’ atrocious papers,” he drawls and rests his hand over yours. “How was work? You are slightly later than usual.”
“It was stressful and the store was packed with people throughout my entire shift. You know, with it being the holiday rush and all.” You lean forward and kiss Severus’s cheek. “But I got something special for you.”
Feelings of guilt eat away at Severus’s heart and his shoulders droop, but he tries to shake it off before you notice. “Oh? Where is it?”
“You won’t get it until Christmas, silly.” You laugh and playfully push him. “By the way, what do you want to do for Christmas? I was thinking that we could just stay in and cook together. Oh! And what do you want to eat? We must have roast beef and I’ll bake any dessert you want.”
Severus thinks you look the most beautiful when you’re excited about something. Your eyes shine, you smile widely, and you shake his shoulders as you go on about whatever makes you passionate. He doesn’t deserve you, especially when you look as beautiful as you do now. He just smiles at you and mumbles,  “Whatever you want, I will be happy with.”
After classes end on Tuesday, he walks down to Hogsmeade to buy the pillow and notepad. Lumos Living is swarming with customers when he walks into the store. Unfortunately for Severus, the shape-shifting body pillow is so popular that there are none on the shelves.
Severus’s pointer fingers pick on his cuticles as he approaches a store clerk restocking the shelves in the bedding section. “Do you have any of the shape-shifting body pillows in stock?”
“Unfortunately, we don’t. But we’ll restock on Friday morning, so you can come back and check on that day!” Great, just great. Yet another item on your wishlist that Severus can’t buy. He huffs and thanks the clerk as he stomps out of the store.
Scanning the streets of Hogsmeade, Severus ensures you’re not around as he makes his way to Scrivenshaft’s. Just as you described your shift on Saturday, the store is packed with wizards and witches alike. He hasn’t seen the notepad you want before, but he remembers how you described it to him after you came home from your shift several weeks ago. Every time you pull a sheet out, the next sheet morphs into a completely different shape and design.
The notepad and notebook section isn’t as busy as the rest of the store. There are flying notepads, notebooks that you can have conversations with, and notepads in the shape of a twinkling Christmas tree. Severus thanks Merlin when he finds the notepad you described and snatches it off the shelf before anyone else has a chance to grab it.
Severus walks toward the long checkout line with a slight pep in his step only to freeze as he catches sight of you. Tuesday is your day off; why are you even here? He ducks behind a table displaying a stack of notebooks as you turn to look in his direction. It doesn’t seem like you notice him since you calmly walk over to your coworker at the register.
The two of you have a brief conversation before your coworker hands you something. When you start walking in his direction, Severus dashes from the table to the opposite side of the store. You press something inside the keyhole of a door, which he assumes leads to the stockroom, without spotting your boyfriend.
Severus feigns interest in the limited edition holiday quills as he waits for you to leave. He slowly sorts through the boxes of Festive Featherflame Quills and pretends to look for the best quill. Another customer gives him an impatient look when he takes too long, so he awkwardly steps to the side. He turns around to look at the door to the stockroom, but you still haven’t emerged.
“Sev?” Severus jumps and begins to pick at his cuticles at the sound of your voice. He quickly shoves both the Festive Featherflame Quill and the notepad to the side. His eyes dart to a door beside the quill section, which has just closed shut. Realizing that this door also leads to the stockroom, Severus internally curses himself for not noticing it when he sprinted over here. “What are you doing here?”
“I… well, I am in need of ink and a quill,” Severus attempts to say nonchalantly. When your eyes wander to the shelf behind him, he turns his body to hide the two items from your sight.
“Okay…” you say and frown. “I just wish you bought it during my shift.”
“I apologize, my love, but I did not realize that I needed these two items until this morning,” Severus lies again, but feels a genuine twinge in his heart as you frown. “Further, why are you here today if you are not working?”
“I left my coat here last night.” You still look a little upset, but you peck a kiss on his cheek nonetheless. “I’ve got to run. See you in a few days, okay?”
With a sigh of relief, he watches the front door close behind you. He quickly retrieves the notepad he threw to the side and makes his way to the checkout line, which is even longer than before.
A bell from the second register rings, beckoning the next customer in line. He recognizes the store clerk helping him at the register as Mary, your favorite co-worker and the reason why you two are together. One chilly day in late November, Severus popped into Scrivenshaft’s to buy jars of ink. You caught Severus’s eye as he searched for ink and he could barely string a sentence together when you helped him at the register. Under the guise of buying ink and quills, he visited the store every few days, secretly reveling in the opportunity to admire you and exchange a few words with you. After several weeks, his office stationery drawer overflowed with ink and quills, and Mary noticed how enamored he was with you. During every free moment of your shifts, she teased you about him and eventually convinced you to make the first move.
“Severus, hey!” Mary says enthusiastically and louder than he would’ve wanted. Several other customers and employees glance at Mary and him. “How’ve you been? What are you getting today?”
“I am well. I would like this.” Severus hands over the notepad, causing Mary’s eye to twinkle.
“This one is so cute!” she gushes. Then, something seems to click in her mind and she gasps loudly, of course. “Wait! This is the one that your girlfriend wants!”
Severus looks around to see even more people looking at them, causing him to sigh. Keeping this purchase a secret from you is practically an impossibility at this point. “Mary, please quiet down. I do not want her to know that I am purchasing this for her,” he attempts to say calmly, but a hint of impatience leaks into his voice.
Mary makes a zipping movement over her lips and smiles giddily. “Don’t worry! I promise not to say anything.” She scribbles down the item and price on a record and then looks back up at him. “That’ll be five galleons.”Swiftly handing over the coins, Severus leaves the store with the notepad clutched firmly in his hand.
When his final class before lunch concludes on Friday, Severus shoos his students from his classroom and rushes down to Hogsmeade. He’s nervous that he won’t make it back to Hogwarts on time since the lunch period isn’t long and the village is full of cheery citizens participating in holiday activities. Though what makes him sweat is the possibility that Lumos Living has already sold out of all the shape-shifting pillows they restocked this morning. He can’t afford any more bad luck when it comes to gift-giving.
But unfortunately for Severus, his already minimal good luck has completely drained. There are no more shape-shifting pillows, no matter how many times he ransacks the store and sticks his hands into the crevices between the shelves. He mutters curses under his breath and stomps back to Hogwarts for the final classes of the day, where the students note that he is in an especially foul mood.
His only consolation after all classes end for the day is that the Christmas holidays have just begun, so he can spend two whole weeks at your cottage. His heart soars with excitement as he heads down to Hogsmeade, yet simultaneously sinks with self-disappointment for not buying everything you asked for.
When you arrive home from your shift, you stomp the snow off your boots and joyfully display a bottle of eggnog in your hands. “It was a little expensive, but why not? It’s Christmas and I get to keep you here for two weeks!” you cheerfully say as you hand him the eggnog. Severus waves his wand and pours two glasses as you continue, “I was thinking of going caroling after my shift tomorrow and I know you don’t like it, so I won’t drag you along. But I’ll make up for my lateness tomorrow night with smoked salmon for tonight’s dinner, okay?”
“That sounds delightful, my love,” Severus says quietly and sips his eggnog. Turning over the bottle in his hand, he sighs at your sweet gesture, which he feels he is unworthy of.
As you wave your wand to summon all the ingredients for tonight’s dinner, you turn to Severus and frown at him. “Is everything all right, sweetheart?” you ask, concern clear in your voice.
Severus looks into your eyes and sees genuine worry. He can’t bear the thought of ruining your day, so he forces a small smile and pulls you close to him. “Do not worry. I am fine. My head is merely spinning at the thought of the potions I have to brew for my stores over the Christmas holidays. At least those pesky students will not give me headaches for the next two weeks.”
You smile back at him and nuzzle your nose against his. “And I’ll start making dinner so you can get your head off things. But I still expect you to make one of your special drink concoctions.”
As the evening progresses and you eat a delicious dinner, he enjoys spending time with you and listening to you rave about what your friends plan to do for Christmas. But no matter how hard he tries, he can’t shake up the feelings of guilt building inside him.
As you head off for work and caroling the next day, he takes advantage of the time alone to do some final holiday shopping. The store clerks at Lumos Living inform him that the shape-shifting pillow won’t be stocked until after Christmas, so Severus resorts to buying a body pillow that changes temperature based on your body temperature. Pillow stuffed in a bag, he apparates to Diagon Alley to find the elusive snow globe. Neither can the Diagon Alley snow globe be found in any of the shops. After carefully inspecting all the other substitutes from Ethereal Embellishments and Hartigan’s, he decides to buy the snow globe with a snowman and snowwoman hugging each other. At least you might appreciate the cheery, adorable faces of the snowpeople.
As Severus wanders aimlessly around Diagon Alley with his store bags in hand, he ponders over whether to get you something from the surrounding stores. His memory flashes back to the first gift he gave you: a red glimmering potion that released tiny floating animals. Nothing has ever made him nearly as happy as when you threw your arms around him and gushed over it for weeks. Instead of buying other items at Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade, he resolves to brew something similar to that potion. At least he knows you’ll like it.
Upon his return to Hogwarts, Severus immediately sets up a large cauldron and assembles the required ingredients. Since it’s not an overly complicated potion, he adds extra details to make the gift even more special. Stirring the boiling water and dropping ingredients in as they’re required, he makes the potion sparkle green, gold, and red. After he waves his wand over photographs of you and him, the cauldron releases floating, moving images of the two of you. He smiles as two tiny figures float in the air: you and him standing in front of a zoo enclosure of mooncalves.
He pours the finished potion into a large bottle and mulls over what else he should make using his potion skills. It may be too late to hang new ornaments on the tree, but Severus still decides to make liquid-filled ornaments for the following year. He prepares a potion similar to the one he made earlier, which also glimmers in the cauldron. Then, he transfigures clean potion bottles into the shapes of icicles and eggs and adds tiny, colorful glass pieces to design the eggs. Severus frowns as he inspects his uneven placement of the glass pieces on the eggs, but he hopes the ornaments still look enchanting enough as the potion swirls inside the glass.
Over the next several days, you occupy almost every minute of Severus’s time. As a child, he never built snowmen or lay on the ground and made snow angels. Neither had he been brave enough to challenge the other children to a snowball fight or ride a sled down the small hill near his home. But when you two aren’t relaxing at your cottage or walking hand-in-hand at a Christmas event, you pull him outside and have fun in the snow. A snowman and snowwoman fashioned after the two of you still stand outside your front door, and Severus adjusts their twig arms so they continue to hold hands despite the harsh wind. No matter how many times you ride a sled together, his arms wrapped around your front remain stiff; yet when the two of you roll off the sled after crashing into something, he can’t help but crack a smile. And every evening that the two of you spend together, you walk through an enchanted Christmas wonderland the village of Hogsmeade has set up. Throughout all these festivities, Severus almost forgets how he’s failed in getting all the gifts you want. Almost.
In the middle of the night between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Severus rushes to retrieve the gifts from Hogwarts and properly package them. With only a candle lighting up the room, Severus hunches over the kitchen table and waves his wand over the wrapping paper. The process of wrapping the Iridescent Ink, notepad, and potion gifts go smoothly. However, he pauses as his eyes roam over the snowpeople globe, temperature-changing pillow, box of tea, and illustrated book. Would it be better to not give you the second-best gifts or not give you a pillow or snow globe at all? Perhaps you would think he didn’t bother to find you everything on your list, so Severus reluctantly wraps up those two things. Along that same train of thought, he covers the box of tea and illustrated book with silver wrapping paper. Before he can overthink the gifts he’s wrapped, he waves his wand and sends them to rest at the foot of the tree.
At precisely eight the next morning, Severus is shaken awake by you. He slowly opens his eyes and sees your eager face and messy morning hair right above him. “Wake up, Sev! Happy Christmas!” you squeal. You kiss him on the lips and scurry out of the room.
Severus yawns and slogs out of bed. When he enters the living room, you run into his arms and kiss him. “When did you put all those gifts under the tree?” you ask excitedly.
“When you were sleeping last night,” Severus says groggily and pulls you close to him. It’s an irrational thought, but he thinks that you might not open up his gifts if he holds you here all day.
You wrap your arms around his neck and gaze adoringly up at him. “You know you’re the best boyfriend, right?”
He feels a twinge in his heart, but he forces a smile onto his face. “Do not flatter me, my love.” You laugh at him and gently push him away before he can hold you closer and prevent you from sitting under the tree.
Severus holds his breath as you sort through the gifts, but then you pull out a package that he doesn’t recognize. You pat the floor next to you and hold the package above your head. “I want you to open all my gifts first.”
He takes the package from you and tenderly runs a hand over the green bow and red wrapping paper adorned with flying hippogriffs. Reluctant to rip away or lazily flick his wand over the wrapping you obviously put effort into, he slowly unties the bow and gently removes the wrapping paper. Inside is a packaged set of books on the Dark Arts, specifically rare volumes that he had expressed interest in several weeks ago. How did you even find these? How did you even remember that he wanted these? Severus looks up and notices the hopeful look in your eyes. He genuinely smiles at you and leans forward to kiss your cheek. “Thank you, my love. You are so very thoughtful.”
“Of course, Sev!” You turn to look for another gift and hand him a package even bigger than the last one. Again, you eagerly watch him as he carefully unwraps the gift. His mouth drops in awe as he uncovers the exquisitely crafted wooden box that serves as a travel potions case. The outside of the box is carved in the design of a tree and when he opens it, his name is engraved on the top section. Jars of potion ingredients are also stored inside the box, ranging from bat spleens to boomslang. You smile shyly at him and say, “I wasn’t very good at Potions, so I don’t know if those ingredients will be useful to you. But I did find a list of ingredients you’re running short of, so I bought those.”
Severus sets the box aside and embraces you. “No, no. This is the most beautiful trunk I have ever set my eyes upon and I am in need of all of those ingredients. You should not have done all of this for me,” he says quietly and his voice even breaks. His heart pounds wildly and his mind swarms with thoughts of how he doesn’t deserve this, how he doesn’t deserve you. You gave him this and the best thing he’s giving you is a silly lovey-dovey potion. Some tears form in his eyes and he quickly blinks them away before you notice them.
“Nope, I would get anything for you, Sev. I’m just afraid that the other gifts aren’t as nice as the last two,” you say as you rub his back. You pull away and summon a small present into your hand. “I know you like practical gifts, so I hope you like this one.”
Underneath the blue bow and icicle-themed wrapping paper, the clear box contains several red rubbers. You laugh as you spot the unintentional look of confusion on Severus’s face. “They’re Flubber Rubbers. I know you can’t usually remove the ink from your students’ essays, but these rubbers actually do remove ink and write encouraging comments in the margins. I thought these would help you stay more positive after Minerva scolded you for being too harsh.”
His cheeks burn and he glares at you, sending you into an even louder laughing fit. “I do not know if I should feel insulted or be grateful, though I suppose I can use these on essays that fall short of atrocious.” Internally, Severus is secretly very grateful that you would try to help him with his work as a professor. He takes in a deep breath and blinks, yet again fighting the tears that threaten to spill from his eyes. How did he ever manage to make you, an angel, his girlfriend?
Your hands grasp onto a large box with a red and green bow on the top, but then you pull your hand back and pass him another present. “I also got this one from Scrivenshaft’s. I hope you don’t already have this one,” you say a little nervously.
Severus cocks his brow as he unwraps the gift, pondering over what you meant by “I hope you don’t already have this one.” Almost every stationery item he owns is from Scrivenshaft’s since he wants to support the shop you work at, but he doesn’t buy unique stationery items. He mostly purchases black and red ink, basic quills, and journals. Perhaps this is a leatherbound journal?
Severus lifts the lid of the box. Inside is what he assumes is a limited edition Christmas quill. He doesn’t recognize the bird from which the feather was plucked, but the feather has been dyed a deep red and flutters to increase and decrease in size. It’s nice, but he wouldn’t choose Christmas quills over basic ones. Why did you get this? Then, it clicks in his mind. Last week, you spotted him in the limited edition holiday quill section at Scrivenshaft’s. You must have thought that he wanted one of those quills, especially the Festive Featherflame.
His lip trembles and he frowns deeply as he holds the quill in the palm of his hand. You notice everything about him, from the wanting looks at potion ingredients to how he lingers around a particular corner of the Dark Arts section of bookshops for too long. Severus now thinks that he isn’t nearly as observant as you are. What if you clearly wanted something, but he didn’t buy it for you because you didn’t verbally express interest in it? How many items has he now missed out on buying? Out of all the things you’ve given him so far, the item he didn’t necessarily want finally forces the tears out of his eyes. Severus’s shoulders shake and he pinches the quill a little too forcefully in his hands. What an utter failure of a boyfriend he’s been.
“What’s wrong? Do you not like it?” you ask quietly, but the concern is loud in your voice. You scoot closer to him and wipe the tears flowing down his cheeks.
“No, it is not that. You notice everything about me and all of these gifts have been incredibly thoughtful,” he sobs. “Meanwhile, I could not even find you all the gifts on your wishlist.” Severus accepts your loving embrace and buries his face in your shoulder even though he knows he doesn’t deserve this.
You pull back and furrow your brow in confusion as you ask, “Wait, what? How do you know I made a wishlist?”
“I found it inside your journal around twelve days ago, I believe,” Severus says shyly and his cheeks burn with embarrassment. “I apologize if I invaded your privacy by looking at your journal. Though I swear that it was already open when I looked at its contents.”
“Hey, it’s fine. I was just wondering how you knew since I didn’t tell anyone.” You push a strand of hair behind his ear and kiss his cheek. As more tears pour down his face, you summon a handkerchief from a cabinet and hand it to him. “You really didn’t have to get me any of those things, Sev. I planned on buying all of them when they went on sale tomorrow.”
“But then what would I have given you for Christmas? You have given me so much and I bought gifts that are unworthy of you.” Although your loving touch has slightly calmed him down, his body still shakes and his voice breaks as he speaks.
“Really, you didn’t have to give me any presents. This is corny to say, but having you here for Christmas is all that I wanted. I didn’t ask you for your wishlist nor did I give you my own since I think it’s better to give your loved ones thoughtful gifts rather than ones they’ve been begging for for months.” You pull away from him and sweep your hand over the gifts under the tree. “I was going to have you open all my presents first, but why don’t you let me open the ones you got for me?”
Severus shakes his head and looks down. “I do not want to disappoint you. I know Christmas is your favorite holiday, so I do not want to ruin your day.”
You sigh and cup his face again. “You could never disappoint me or ruin my Christmas, Sev. The fact that you’re even crying about this shows how much you care about me. You are the best boyfriend I’ve ever had and there is nothing that you can say that will convince me otherwise.”
Severus grunts a “fine” under his breath, but he glows internally at what you’ve said. He decides to hand you the present with the notepad first since he doesn’t want to get your hopes up with the potions present or disappoint you with the second-best gifts.
As you carefully remove the wrapping paper like he had, Severus can tell you’re holding yourself back from ripping at it. When you uncover the notepad, your face lights up and you throw your arms around him. “This is why you were at Scrivenshaft’s without me! You’re so sneaky!”
“You nearly caught me multiple times. Then, I nearly had a heart attack when you said hello to me.” He laughs at the memory and runs his hand over your hair.
“Yeah, you looked pretty nervous.” You join him in his laughter and place the notepad on a nearby table. “What’s next?”
“This.” He points out the small box in golden wrapping paper. He realizes that his wrapping, even when he used a spell to do it, isn’t nearly as good as yours. “It is not special, but it was on your list.”
“If it’s from you, then it is special,” you say with a smile. Normally, he would roll his eyes when Dumbledore makes a statement like that. Yet you say things like that, he rolls his eyes and smiles.
You quickly remove the wrapping paper from the Iridescent Ink and you embrace him again. “Thank you, Sev! I’ll use this to write notes when I’m at home. It’s too special to use at work.”
His hands shake as he hands you the pillow and the snow globe at the same time. Although you promised that this wouldn’t ruin your Christmas or that you wouldn’t be upset at him, Severus’s mind always goes to the worst. You reach for the snow globe first and squeeze the wrapping and padding before opening it.
“Ooh, what’s this? It’s probably something fragile by the feel of it,” you comment. When you spot the cute snowman and snowmen waving at you, you squeal. “They’re so cute! That’s us! And they remind me of the snowman and snowmen outside too!” You run up and place your new gift on the table with your snow globe collection. “You know what? This is even better than the Diagon Alley snow globe.” And that makes a genuine, wide grin break out on Severus’s face for the first time that day.
“I am glad. I hope you like the next one as much.” Once it’s free of its covering, you squeeze the temperature-changing pillow and sigh at how it adjusts to your body temperature.
“I’m going to find a way to make this one Severus-temperature on the nights you’re away. But for now, I’m going to put this in the closet so it doesn’t get dirty.”
After you get back, you open the tea box and the illustrated book. You promise to make two cups of that tea right after opening all the gifts, and your eyes light up at the moving illustrations. He tells you about the store clerk assuming that it was for his child, and you bury your face in your hands and laugh.
“I saved the best two for last,” he says quietly and first gives you the potion ornaments. “I made everything myself.”
You unwrap the potion ornaments and your mouth drops in awe. The liquid swirls inside the glass and casts a mesmerizing glow onto the walls and the floor. You immediately wave your wand and hang each icicle and egg ornament on the tree, then tap them to change the color of the potion inside to match the colors on the tree. Severus anxiously watches to see how else you’ll react, but then feels a surge of relief when you turn to him, tears in your eyes. You embrace him for the millionth time that day and kiss him so passionately that he can hardly breathe. “This has to be the best gift I’ve ever gotten. Either this one or the animal potion you gave me several months ago,” you say breathlessly.
Severus cries again and presses his forehead against yours. “That means you will adore the last present I have for you.” You pick up the box right beside you and tenderly open it. You sniff and continue to cry as you uncover the large bottle. Cradling it in your hands, you uncork the cap and are mesmerized by the tiny images of the two of you floating into the air: clinking your drinks at the Three Broomsticks, standing outside a glowing Diagon Alley shop, and wrapping your arms around him as he sits in his Hogwarts office. Your lip trembles and you sob even louder as you stare at the sentimental gift. With steady hands, you carefully place the bottle on the side table and hug him again.
“I keep hugging you, but you deserve something even better tonight,” you whisper suggestively into his ear and laugh gently. Severus blushes and twiddles with his thumbs, trying to ignore the heat rising in other parts of his body.
Every other present Severus opens jerks even more tears from his eyes: a scrapbook with photos of you and him, a vintage book on spells, and a candle set with subtle Christmas scents.
After you both put your presents away, you brew the tea as promised and prepare a light meal. For the rest of the day, Severus helps you cook roast beef, roast potatoes, parsnips, rolls, smoked salmon, Holiday Blancmange, plum pudding, and chocolate cake. He continually fears that he’ll burn something or start a fire, but everything tastes delicious once you two finally sit down and eat. During the evening, you relax by the fireplace and the Christmas tree, sipping hot chocolate and talking for hours. When you two go to bed, well, Severus receives his last present of the day. Although the day isn’t full of sled riding down steep hills and he never expected to burst into tears as you exchanged gifts, Severus deems this the first perfect Christmas he’s had in his life.

Domesticity (Severus Snape x Reader)
A small post-war imagine. Often it’s the small moments in life that bring the most love.
A/N: No warnings, nothing but fluff. Enjoy. ❤️
Tumblr media
Sometimes, when you woke up to the first few rays of sunlight peeking through your bedroom curtains and nothing but a smattering of birdsong echoing just outside your window, you got scared. It felt like it was all a dream, and you were bound to wake up at any moment. You were terrified you’d be back in the middle of the war, having to hide and fearing who else might have ended up dead today.
But then, like today for instance, a pair of arms would wrap around your middle from behind, and pulled you closer into warmth. And you’d remember that this was all real.
The war really was over.
You shifted around until you faced your lover, smiling softly as you reached forward to brush away a few stray strands of raven hair that had fallen into his eyes.
“Hi.”
Severus returned your warm smile, moving in a little closer to kiss your forehead.
“Did you sleep well?”
You nodded. “Did you?”
Severus gazed at you as his fingers traced over your cheeks, and down your jawline. “There have been worse nights.”
You frowned slightly at his answer. “Nightmares again?”
“Always.” He murmured, trailing his hand down your shoulder, over your arm, until his fingers laced gently through yours. “But not waking up alone… it makes a difference.”
You managed a small smile as you kissed him softly, and your heart fluttered as Severus sighed into the kiss. Despite having known each other for years, you seemed to have this ability to make him melt under your every touch, as if it were your very first night together all over again.
“What do you think?” You asked quietly, curling into Severus’ arms as he wrapped them snugly around your waist. “Go out, or stay in today?”
“Stay in.” Severus mumbled into your hair as he stroked your back gently with one hand. You giggled.
“We stayed in yesterday,” you replied. “And the day before. And the day before that too. We need food.”
Your giggles grew louder as Severus let out a protesting grumble.
“The shops aren’t going anywhere.” He muttered. “They’ll be there tomorrow.”
“We should at least get out of bed today though.” You laughed as his arms tightened even more around you. “Sev, come on!”
“Give me one good reason, and I might.”
“I could make your favourite tea?” You offered hopefully. Silence filled the air as Severus paused in consideration.
“Which one?” He asked suspiciously.
“Lavender Earl Grey.”
“I thought we were all out.”
His grip on you loosened just enough for you to quickly grab Severus’ jumper off the floor and shrug it on. It smelled faintly of cinnamon and vanilla, and it relaxed you immediately.
“I bought some last week,” you replied, passing Severus his sweatpants he had rather quickly discarded on the floor the night before with you. “When you were in your study working on that new potion, I went out for a few things.”
Severus smiled gratefully, leaning forward to kiss your cheek.
“You’re divine.” He said simply as he stood up, his eyes filling with warmth as he gazed at you, still sitting in bed. “That’s my jumper you’ve got on.”
You grinned, relishing even more in the feeling of the soft fabric.
“You don’t need it, do you? You’ve got your sweatpants, you’ll be fine.”
Shaking his head, Severus leaned forward and extended his hand to help you off the bed. You grasped his hand gently, before tugging him back towards you on the bed. He stumbled, landing rather unceremoniously on top of you. You couldn’t stop the giggles that surfaced as Severus looked down at you, an eyebrow raised questioningly.
“What was that?” He asked.
“I just really wanted to see what would happen if I did that.” You were still trying your best to fend off a little giggle, and Severus did his best to hide the crack of a smile that made the corner of his mouth quirk upwards.
“And tell me, what conclusion did you come to as a result of your little experiment?” He asked sarcastically, still hovering on top of you. You reached up, caressing his face with both of your hands.
“I realized…” you whispered, taking in everything about this moment as best as you could. You fell silent for a moment, suddenly overcome with the gentlest feeling of joy.
Severus blinked, and he gazed curiously at you as you laid there lost in thought.
“I realized that, well…” you continued quietly. “I didn’t think, even just a year ago, that I’d be as lucky as I am right now.”
A thousand emotions seemed to pass through Severus’ dark eyes in an instant. He leaned down silently, capturing your lips in a kiss that told you more than you knew he’d ever be able to say out loud.
You kissed him back with equal passion, arms wrapping around his neck and pulling him as close to you as physically possible. Tears pricked at your eyes for the briefest moment. All you felt was gratitude. And love. So much love.
The two of you broke away, breathless and gasping, and Severus was the one to laugh quietly this time.
“Do you still feel like making tea?”
You scrunched your nose, dismissing him with a small wave of your hand.
“The tea can wait. We’ve got all day.”
Severus chuckled, his hands moving under your jumper to connect with your bare skin. He leaned in again, pressing a gentle kiss to your neck and earning a shiver from you.
“Agreed.”
