The Boiler Theory of Men
When talking about an abusive or dangerous man, do you ever hear things like, "He holds in his feelings too much, and they build up until he bursts... He needs to get in touch with his emotions and learn to express them to prevent those explosive episodes"? "My colleagues and I refer to this belief as "The Boiler Theory of men." The idea that a person can only tolerate so much accumulated pain and frustration. If it doesn't get vented periodically-- kind of like a pressure cooker-- then there's bound to be a serious accident. This... has the ring of truth to it because we are all aware of how many men keep too much emotion pent up inside. Since most abusers are male, it seems to add up. But it doesn't, and here's why: Most [abusive men] are not unusually repressed. In fact, many of them express their feelings more than some nonabusive men. Rather than trapping everything inside, they actually tend to do the opposite: They have an exaggerated idea of how important their own feelings are, and they talk about their feelings-- and act them out-- all the time, until their partners and children are exhausted from hearing about it all. An abuser's emotions are as likely to be too big as too small. They can fill up the whole house." - Day 4 of sharing Lundy Bancroft's excerpts from Why Does he DO That? I would like to add this: I'm sure many of you have seen that people especially love to use this myth to justify atrocities like mass shootings and other "crimes of passion" that result in the deaths of innocent people. The reality is that men who behave in abusive ways are not victims of society. They are not bottling up their emotions, in need of a place to vent, suffering from low self-esteem, etc. It is quite the opposite. These men are suffering from being over-emotional, grandiose, and entitled. Notice how men will always go on shooting sprees shortly after finding communities of like minded individuals, venting their frustrations to them, and spending hours a day exchanging information with peers (all things that are supposed to help people get better)?. They meet people in cyberspace and real life: places such as 4chan, "redpill" forums, on-campus white nationalist club meetings, Fraternities, bars, "mens rights" rallies and it emboldens them to finally unleash their rage onto the public. Perhaps if we stopped having such bleeding hearts and took away their platforms these men would shrivel back up and stay in their parents basements where they belong. Just an idea.

PRESS RELEASE

Istanbul Convention’s Neglect of Female-Perpetrated Abuse is a Historic Betrayal of Women in Same-Sex Relationships
WASHINGTON / January 30, 2023 – Numerous studies show that women in same-sex relationships experience higher rates of domestic violence than women in heterosexual relationships. Inexplicably, the EU Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women, also known as the Istanbul Convention, excludes consideration of female-perpetrated violence.
Surveys reveal that lesbian-perpetrated violence is more frequent than heterosexual partner violence (1). A study conducted in Italy found the following (2):
52.9% of women revealed the presence of quarrels with their female partner was “substantial”
11.8% of women admitted to “always” fearing their partner’s reaction
19.5% of women said their female partner had requested sex against their will
A United Kingdom survey revealed (3):
40.1% of females reported they had ever experienced domestic abuse by a female partner.
Women were more likely to have their sexuality used against them, be blamed for their partner’s self-harm or have their children threatened or used against them in some way, compared to male homosexuals.
Commentators have deplored the long-standing “silence around the violence” arising from domestic violence policies that focus only on heterosexual abuse. As a result, female perpetrators are viewed as less violent, police are unresponsive to pleas for help, shelters are unprepared, and counseling programs fail to recognize the unique challenges faced by women in abusive same-sex relationships (4).
The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union states unequivocally, “Human dignity is inviolable” (Article 1), “Everyone has the right to liberty and security of person” (Article 6), and “Any discrimination based on any ground such as sex….shall be prohibited” (Article 21). (5)
The Istanbul Convention’s open discrimination against women in same-sex relationships is a flagrant violation of the European Charter. The Domestic Abuse and Violence International Alliance urges country-level lawmakers to contact Members of the European Parliament to express their concerns.
The Domestic Abuse and Violence International Alliance – DAVIA — consists of 70 member organizations from 25 countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America, and North America. DAVIA seeks to ensure that domestic violence and abuse polices are science-based, family-affirming, and gender-inclusive. https://endtodv.org/coalitions/davia/

I have many fights with my family but the number one thing I cannot understand is the belief that anything that is illegal is inherently immoral
Things can be morally necessary and also illegal
Things can be morally neutral and also illegal (but we didn’t even get to that)
ALSO “I can’t explain why because it’s classified*” is not a good justification for anything

I’m severely anorexic, and my child is dead
I didn’t know that Dennis thought he owned Nancy like property without love
What a sad, pathetic excuse for a human being

But then he decided to try to play with the big boys and they didn’t wanna play with him so things got complicated
Natalie Imbruglia drove me off road I had been to the location before the long long time ago and

It’s been almost impossible for girls to have clean and fresh
Those police officers would kill Natalie Imbruglia. I guess, except for the fact that the mafia might come after them. And of course that’s kind of what happened in the case of the police department. Most of them are not in the know because you know they don’t make very much money lol.
Anyway, the mafia agrees that the police department here, and in many other departments have gone way too far and it is safe to say that the mafia has a war against the cops but that’s not anything new. The only thing Neil is that we will actually get revenge for every child harmed, every woman that little joke that you guys played all of those things will be taken care of by somebody whether legally or illegally.
You guys took it too far when you sexually harassed me
And not even officer friendly is going to get away with that
So anyway officer friendly do you feel like John Wayne now or do you feel like Matt Dillon from that movie?
Or do you just feel like a completely disgusting, pervert, paedophile piece of trash?
Yes sir yes ma’am understand sweet as apple pie over here
Awe. But the cop and my brother?
Nope. Weren’t having it. Racists.
As far as the racist greedy African Americans go, what would you have me do they can’t have what is mine and I don’t steal from African-American people because that is wrong
I don’t think that Kaleb and Mr. Gregg really want to play that way but at the same time they do want to have a piece of ego but you really don’t wanna play with me boys
And I’ll tell you something else the next African-American who sits in my space or vice versa if you run your cock sucker to me about anything Native American or indigenous I’m going to spit in your face and have you leave
We don’t need any of that uncivilized nonsense
You know what it is right black America African lives matter, so goddamn much right now that it’s making me sick and some of you are making me wanna fucking kill you and that’s not who I am because I’m not a murderer at heart
I am upset because I know that African Americans know better but white people most of them are lost

Abusive men tend to blame their treatment of women on past women who have hurt them. This is a lie. It is a distortion meant to absolve them of guilt and excuse their actions.
"The disrespect that abusive men so often direct toward women in general tend to be born of their cultural values and conditioning rather than personal experiences of being victimized by women. Some abusive men use the excuse that their behavior is a response to such victimization because they want to be able to make women responsible for men's abuse. It is important to note that research has shown that men who have abusive mothers do not tend to develop especially negative attitudes toward females, but men who have abusive fathers do; the disrespect that abusive men show their female partners and their daughters is often absorbed by their sons."

The International Court of Justice has issued a ground-breaking decision in South Africa’s genocide case against Israel, ordering Israel to comply with six provisional measures to safeguard the right of Palestinians in Gaza to be protected from genocidal violence.
The court’s order is binding on Israel and formalizes the international legal obligations of other countries that are parties to the UN Genocide Convention.
Properly understood, the order should dramatically alter both the foreign and domestic policy decisions of Israel’s allies, including Canada and the United States.
Israel and its allies cannot dismiss or minimize the importance of this decision. In granting interim relief, the court concluded that South Africa’s allegations of genocide are, at a minimum, legally and factually plausible.
Crucially, the court expressly concluded, by an overwhelming majority, that Palestinians in Gaza face a “real and imminent risk” of genocide. This puts other countries on notice that they have an international legal duty to take steps to prevent genocide in Gaza in accordance with the court’s order.
As the court stated in a 2007 ruling when Bosnia accused Serbia of genocide, countries that are parties to the Genocide Convention have an obligation to prevent and a corresponding duty to act “the instant that the state learns of, or should normally have learned of, the existence of a serious risk that genocide will be committed.”
Both Canada and the U.S. have construed the court’s decision narrowly, suggesting it merely reiterates Israel’s right of self-defence and obligation to comply with international humanitarian law.
This is a legally indefensible reading of the court’s ruling.[...]
Statements of political support by the U.S. and Canada that Israel is abiding by the laws of war — contrary to the facts — cannot shield Israel or its allies from their legal obligations under the Genocide Convention. Those obligations — including to prevent genocide — are created via treaty and are interpreted by courts, the highest of which is the International Court of Justice.
The obligation to prevent genocide, combined with the court’s finding of a serious risk of genocide, means that all parties to the Genocide Convention must refrain from taking steps that would actively frustrate the effective implementation of the court’s order.[...]
But just hours after the court’s ruling, the U.S. announced it was suspending funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.[...]
The U.S. is the biggest financial contributor to UNRWA. Several other key donor countries, including Canada, quickly followed suit.
UNRWA is the largest aid provider in Gaza and a trusted lifeline to civilians in the territory. Even if the allegations are true, defunding the entire organization openly defies the court’s order and amounts to collective punishment of the civilian population in Gaza
Disturbingly, moves to defund UNRWA appear to help implement Israeli government plans to undermine the organization’s capacity to deliver aid to Palestinians in Gaza. Earlier this month, policy experts told the Knesset that UNRWA “must be dismantled and thrown in the dustbin of history” and that “no country that is a friend of Israel should provide them any money.”
The ICJ found that “the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is at serious risk of deteriorating further,” plausibly inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about the physical destruction of Palestinians in Gaza.
Accordingly, any country’s action knowingly contributing to further deterioration would violate the obligation to prevent genocide and could amount to complicity in genocide.[...]
In 2022, Canada sent more than $21 million worth of military exports to Israel. The Export and Import Permits Act forbids arms permits to be issued if there’s a “substantial risk” that the goods could be used to commit or facilitate serious violations of international humanitarian or human rights law.
Because the ICJ found a serious risk of genocide in Gaza, continuing to export arms to Israel would be illegal. It would also be flagrantly inconsistent with Canada’s obligation to prevent genocide, and could expose Canada and Canadian officials to liability for participation in genocide.
We must reject the politics of deliberate indifference to atrocity currently on display in the Canadian government’s reactions to the ICJ ruling.
