I was wondering if you could do something with reader yeeting a weighted blanket at the chain and their reactions? I got reminded of that weighted blanket trend and thought it’d be funny
A/N:HAHAHA ABSOLUTELY OMG this ask made me actually laugh out loud😭 I have a weighted blanket I use sometimes bc it helps with chronic pain(I have arthritis) and anxiety and such—also I’ve always wanted to do that trend w someone but I’ve been to scared bc I don’t wanna hurt anybody :( anyway enjoy!
The chain and a weighted blanket!
(For simplicity’s sake, we’ll say they have weighted blankets in Hyrule lol)
Tumblr media
Time:
Is a bit confused with the initial throw(I’d be struggling if I tried tbh) like—why is a blanket being thrown on him, but once it hits him, he stumbles back with a groan and a laugh
“What’s wrong with this thing, great goddesses!”
Totally thinks it’s funny
Will be buying a weighted blanket as soon as possible to get Malon with it…also just cause it feels nice.
Twilight:
Catches it
“Hylia, this is heavy, why is this blanket heavy???”
When you(albeit shocked, cause how did he freaking catch it) explain to him that it has sand(?) in it, and what it can be used for, he’s pleasantly surprised.
“Oh wow! Who would’ve thought of such a thing!”
He accompanies you to go get Wild with it.
Wild:
Body folds like a lawn chair
“OGH-“ and a thunk on the ground 💀
But he’s laughing!
Pokes his head out and just kinda lays there. Twilight’s cackling his head off behind you.
“Why?” He asks with a laugh and you just
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Funny is funny, and it’s nice to have a few pranks here and there, both to keep you on your toes and have a laugh.
Sky:
Also folds like a lawn chair
Except he doesn’t like his head out like wild. When there’s no movement and you peek under, he’s asleep
Mans can fall asleep anywhere anytime in a short amount of time. Sleeping is like second nature to him.
“Sky???”
Nothing. Dead silence. You’re actually beginning to wonder if it knocked him out, but no. He’s snoring, and seems perfectly fine. It’s just comfy and he decided it was time to honk his shoos. Go night night for a bit.
Wars:
You throw it at him from behind and he stumbles forward into the stump he was using as a table for planning their next route.
“Agh! Hey!!!”
Was originally upset but when he saw how hard you were laughing, he can’t seem to make himself stay mad
You were too cute, and far too happy. He didn’t want to ruin that.. and it was a little funny
“Alright Alright, You’ve had your fun…. Now go get the vet.” He said with a soft smile. The effect you had on these boys was remarkable
Legend:
Get ready to run, and run fast
Yeah—he’s… pretty much the only one that didn’t take it well.
You threw it on him and he fell forward and cursed
“Y/n what gives?!”
Though when he saw how upset his yelling made you, he softened.
“It was just a joke, I didn’t mean—“
“No. It’s whatever.” He drops the blanket to the ground with a thud and crossed his arms. “It’s fine. Stop looking like that, though. All…sad. You look like a wet dog… or wet blanket, more appropriately..”
That made you crack a smile, and he huffed and rolled his eyes, the corners of his mouth turning up as he turned away.
You can’t figure out if he said the pun with the intention of making you laugh or not, but it worked. (Spoiler alert, yes he did. He’s a softie whether he likes it or not and he has a particular soft spot for you.)
(Totally got the blanket to sleep under it for comfort, but if you told anyone or asked him about it he’d deny everything.)
Hyrule:
“AAH!” He yelled as he flew forward when you threw it on his back.
He’s laughing, which is good.
Like time, he just laughs and holds it out to you, only he’s doing it with a touch of struggle to keep his arms out until you take it.
“That’s so heavy! What the heck! How did it get like that???”
After a long winded explanation, he really likes it!
Definitely asks for it one night, especially after a particularly rough battle.
Four:
Like Wars, he’s a bit upset but laughs it off, because at the end of the day, it is funny
Just make sure to pay attention to when you’re throwing it on him. Make sure he’s not working on any weapons—that’s dangerous ground both in injury and messing the weapon up.
Then, he’d actually be upset(but not for too long. He can’t stay mad at you.)
“Oh cmon!” He laughs, shoving you once he’s out from under the blanket.
Once he gets over his small upset, he’s laughing louder. It starts being real funny to him.
“That’s so dumb, that’s so dumb.” He says through laughter.
Wind:
He goes FLYING
“Hey y/—WAH!”
When you pick it up he’s got the biggest mischievous grin
“THATS CRAZY! LETS GO GET THE OTHERS!”
Thinks it’s the funniest thing known to mankind

Sorry for the double ask but my curiosity is itching me. What instances of Zelink do you ship? Since you said you’re particular about your Zelink
Skyward Sword is the biggest, lol. I don’t really ship it in BotW, but in TotK I do. In OoT I’m too convinced they’re actually siblings, but in Twilight Princess they barely interact at all.
They just need to actually have chemistry for me to ship it. Like, they need to actually know each other. In Skyward Sword, they’re childhood friends. They grew up with each other.
When Link sees Zelda, he gets this absolutely adorable smile on his face and you just know he loves her. And after they get separated, every time they reunite, Zelda tries to run to him before Impa pulls her back. When she reveals she’s actually reincarnated Hylia, she says, “I’m still my father’s daughter. I’m still your Zelda.”
In BotW, sure, it’s said Zelda’s “love for her fallen knight awakened her power” but at that point in time it just feels kinda one-sided. She’s a dear friend of Link’s, but I don’t get the feeling he was in love with her.
Totk, though??? Where several years have passed??? When they’re walking together in the beginning, observing the ruins, and you can see them interact??? The way Zelda checks up on him and crinkles her eyes in a smile, the way Link takes the torch from her without her even needing to ask??? The way it’s hinted that they live together, and how Zelda’s diary says Link never leaves her side, so she had to have a secret study built in a well? How she has an extra hair tie for him in said well???
How Zelda hid his new tunic to surprise him, behind a puzzle of all things, because she probably knows he likes puzzles and wanted to challenge him a little??? The way she told Link to find her, knowing she wouldn’t be herself after she transformed, and was trusting him to help her remember???
Totk Zelink is just. It’s like an evolution of their dynamic in BotW. Zelda always cared for Link, but Link had been going through such heavy depression- it’s also more hinted that he had feelings for Mipha (at least to me)- and then he died. All of his friends were dead. He woke up a century later. Everything was left behind. He had no memories.
Link had to grieve and move on, and save what was left. He had to remember, he had to heal. And in TotK we get to see that healed Link. He moved on from the past. He moved on from Mipha. He found a future with Zelda. But now Zelda is missing. She doesn’t remember who she is. He has to fight and help her remember, just as she once helped him through his lost memories of her.
It’s. I dunno. It just feels like poetry.
I hope this makes sense, lol.

DAY 1: "I've got you"
The chain is very, very bored. If you can’t tell.
Everybody is either draped over each other, or sitting down and staring at the sky. Well, the younger of the group were piled up like dolls, Time, twilight, warriors and sky were all chatting as if nothing was wrong.
“ AgH!” Wind throws his hands up, pushing himself off of a Four who was currently face first in the grass, letting out a muffled ‘oomph’, “what do we do ?” The teen huffs, looking towards Time.
“Don’t look at me, maybe you should just enjoy the sounds of nature, boredom makes way for ideas.” Time said.
No it doesn’t.
“Maybe we could go treasure hunt-“ Wild jumps off, boosting himself off of poor four.
“ No! No no no no, Legend already has a bad enough hoarding problem, and you’re almost as bad as him!” Warriors spoke up.
“That’s not true and you know it!” Legend jumped up, flinging four, who was draped across his stomach, finally drifting off, onto a cozy Hyrule with a yelp.
“Oh!” Twilight snaps his fingers, “let’s play a game!” He grins, he knows how to deal with bored children. The younger half of the chain was probably just the same!
“Treasure hunting is a game-“ Wild started to suggest.
“No- no treasure hunting.”
“Buzzkill.” They hiss.
“Anyways, what game? Tag? Catch? Maybe hot and cold? OH-“ wind started throwing every game he could think of out into the metaphorical table.
“Ah- how about hide and go seek? We should all know that one right?” Sky suggested.
“Hide and go seek?” Hyrule jumped up,Four rolling off, at this point he didn’t even care, getting up and sitting beside hyrule.
“So who’s it then?” Four rubbed his eyes, looking at the rest.
Time grinned, “I could.” The one eyed man raised up his hand lazily, followed by terrified eyes of the rest.
“What no! You find everybody in the span of two nanoseconds!” Wind exclaimed, throwing his hands up once again.
“Come on, don’t give me that much credit! I’m mediocre at best.” Time tried.
“Don’t you even dare joke about that.” Legend narrowed his eyes at the older.
August was not a great time for hide and go seek.
“Really guys? Really?” He raised an eyebrow.
“How about Wild instead?” Sky pointed out.
“What- actually, okay yeah, I think we’ll actually survive 20 seconds with Wild.” Wind sighed in relief
Said Wild had snuck off for treasure hunting.
“ARE YOU KIDDING ME-?”
“2…1.. ready or not here I come!” Time said in a sing-song voice, he already knew where everybody had tucked themselves, how exactly?
A magician never reveals his secrets, as they say.
The small woods were peacefully silent, save for the squirrels and bird chitter of course, the the occasional rustle of leaves from a deer. He would just go grab everybody immediately of course.
But where’s the fun in that?
Besides, it’d lure them into a false sense of security before scaring their socks off, yes?
He walked around, whistling a random tune that’s been stuck in his head for a few days, eyeing the rock where Legend and Hyrule has crammed themselves behind, probably beside the piles of fallen autumn leaves from what it looks like.
Slowly, he made it sound as if he was walking away, walking in place and whistling softer, softer.
Stop.
“Hyrule, get off of me!” Legend whisper-yelled.
“Agh! by Hylia I’m not even on you!”
“Yes you are!”
“It’s literally an arm.” Hyrule deadpanned.
“Move your arms then it’s like you’re trying to break my rib cage with it.” Legen dramatized.
“There’s not enough room for that!”
Slowly, he reached into his back, slipping on the stone mask, walking ever so carefully to the two quietly bickering heroes.
At once, he climbed in the rock, above them, and yanked off the mask.
“I’ve got you!”
Legend proceeded to produce a shriek that sounded awfully close to Malon when she sees a spider in the shower.

Linktober: Flying
"I can't believe we're actually doing this." Looking down at the Cucco in your hands, you glanced over to First who seemed giddy at the thought. "Link, I don't think they're gonna be able to hold my weight."
“My love, do not fret!” He laughed, the bird sitting comfortably in his arms. “The art of Cucco flying is one my village had mastered for generations.”
“...Is this why Cuccos hate you all? Because you do this?”
What many people believed about the First hero was that he was a man of prestige. Hero of the Goddess herself, to submerge himself in her holy light and emerge as not just a man but as the main embodiment of true courage, to fight in Hylia’s name against the darkness in which Demise brought. First was a great man, who stayed true to his mission and was, in the end, a loyal soldier who defended the side of good until his last breath.
Those people also forget to mention that First was a Link and well, his reincarnations certainly got his sense of humour and fun.
Like jumping off the roof with only a Cucco to his name.
“Preposterous.” He snorted, adjusting the bird closer to his chest. “You believe such a kind and forgiving creature would feel such a thing?”
You wondered if such a creature descended from dinosaurs similar to the chickens back home, you wondered if they got its ancestor’s eyes, you wondered if that was why its eyes looked filled with bloodlust.
Taking a cautious step back, you looked at him. “I don’t think it feels anything If I’m being honest.”
To be fair to the historians, First wasn’t like this a lot. Not prestigious, goddess no, but a put-together man who strived to do what was best, definitely what you would picture if you thought about what a true hero was. The man masked his emotions for a majority of the time, to be strong for the others (you couldn’t help but glance over to the eldest three at those thoughts) after all, he was a rock to many, someone who could be relied on and he didn’t want that to be shattered by expressing how he really felt.
But he didn’t do that around you. No, he expressed so much- you had seen this man cry, seen his show despair and sob until he had no more tears to shed. You’d seen him enraged, ears tipped red with blue eyes blazing after harm had befallen you. You, a mere university student working part-time, had seen the First Hero himself smile like not a thing had ever befallen him like you had gifted him long lost treasure that would leave him living comfy for the rest of his life and those to come- just by pressing a small kiss against his cheek, just because you could.
“You bring out the emotion in me.” He’d explained after you asked him why he was so expressive around you. “You make me feel everything at once, in the best way possible.”
“Are you saying that you feel comfortable around me?”
“I am saying that you make me feel I am loved and I am safe.”
And you balled right in front of him.
You dubbed it an “embarrassing L” and he said that you still looked breathtaking even as you were wailing with tears and snot.
You cried a little more after that.
“My love, such cold words for such beautiful and kind creatures.”
“Link, it tried to eat Legend.”
“Absurd, it was only protecting itself.”
“I-” You choked on a laugh, trying to contain it before taking a deep breath to calm yourself only to burst out laughing, kneeling over as your partner smirked with accomplishment, wandering over to your side. “I’m sure it was.”
“You mock me, dear?”
“Yeah, a little.”
The love in his eyes was clear here, a little intimidating to some but for you it made you feel as if you were the luckiest person in the world, to have such a magnificent and genuine man fall for you as hard as you had. The love in movies was fake and over-exaggerated, but what you felt here was real, pure emotion that you knew wasn’t going anywhere any time soon.
“Fine,” Finally, you had given in, taking the bird from his arms. “But if I break anything I’m telling Malon.”
His hand came to hold your cheek, thumb brushing against it. “As if I would ever let such a thing happen to you.”
God damn, you were in love.

Linked Universe as Gods (probably done before but this is my take).
Time: God of Reality
-The father figure.
-Time itself is a concept made up by humans, his real title is the God of Reality, humans are too stupid to figure it out though. They tried to explain his confusing abilities by just saying “he’s the god of the clock and he messes with time, that’s why his powers are so confusing”.
-This isn’t the truth, he actually controls the fabric of reality itself and keeps it balanced by doing stuff like creating borders between worlds and making sure things are working how they should.
-For example: if a huge piece of land got destroyed people would pray that he rewind the time in that specific area so that they could live there again. He can’t actually undo what has been done, but bending reality just a smidge doesn’t hurt. Unfortunately, mortals don’t know that is what he is actually doing and instead think he is rewinding the clock. Because of this, people got confused and labeled him as Time.
-He doesn’t use his abilities often and prefers to sit back and watch his brothers make a mess that he’ll inevitably have to pick up.
-Is, of course, the dad of the group.
-They’re actually all brothers but he’s the oldest, has a dad voice, scolds them often, and is literally called Time by the people. No way his brothers don’t call him Old Man!
-Sometimes if a mortal gets on his nerves he’ll mess with their vision and the colors they see, he may have accidentally caused a few people to go insane because of this.
-He’s sort of like the main god and the one people pray to the most often or refer to when they’re not talking about a specific thing. It’s kinda like the Hylia vs the three goddesses situation where they usually refer to Hylia yet know of the other three. They may say “Oh Hylia!” when startled but when they say are about to take a test they’d say “Nayru, grant me your wisdom” or something. Kinda like that.
-Behind his closed eye is a sight incomprehensible to the human mind, hence why he keeps it closed.
-He collaborates with everyone, as all their jobs are somehow linked to reality.
Twilight: God of Other Worlds
-Lovely piece of himbo.
-Time may create borders for other worlds, but Twilight enforces them.
-After an event where the twilight leaked into this plane, people mistook yet another god’s job as something else, meaning he ended up being called the God of the Twilight
-He is relatively unknown outside of the twilight event as his job doesn’t seem to effect mortals day to day lives (it does, without him the world’s barriers would shatter and let all sorts of creatures roam), thus he is prayed to the least, except for the Twili who absolutely worship him.
-He’s the protective big brother type figure, whenever Time is not cleaning up after the children it is him and Sky, who is the other big brother figure.
-He worries a lot over the others, especially Wild, who has a lot of issues I’ll be getting into.
-If he has no duties to tend to he is hovering over his brothers and asking if their alright or need anything. He is fiercely protective over them and whenever a mortal insults someone in The Chain or somehow causes them harm- you bet he is on their case.
-Due to events with the Twilight Realm he has a distinct wolflike form that can either be otherworldly looking Wolfie or just like regular Wolfie. Some of the others like to cuddle with him when he’s in that form (not that they don’t cuddle enough as it is).
-He only really collaborates with Time, none of the others unless it’s an emergency like the Twili event.
Warriors: God of War
-He should honestly be called God of Bias.
-His powers range from light control over soldiers to complete and utter sway in how a battle will end up.
-He is often prayed to by Kings, warlords, and generals, all of which are doing something for power or wealth.
-Warriors often completely ignores their gifts and prayers and prefers to answer to the common soldier or peasants that need a family member to return safe or for their home to still stand once the enemy takes all. This causes mortals quite a bit confusion in what offerings he takes as he seems to have no response towards monarch’s lavish sacrifices
-Soldiers often took to calling him “the God of us Warriors”, and he adopted the nickname Warriors lovingly.
-Despite being the God of War, he very rarely gets involved in the actual full scale fighting, when he does however… an entire army could be wiped out by the other within an instant, hence why rulers continue to plead towards him despite his infrequent answers.
-Other than just being an all around good guy, the other reason he prefers to not get involved with wars is to protect his fellow gods. People praying for their battle wounds to disappear greatly takes up Rulie’s time, Sky’s mailbox is already stuffed enough and he doesn’t need the plethora of messages filled with grief and mourning, and tearing apart the land for one’s own selfish desires is not doing wonders for Wild at the moment.
-He is said to be one of the most attractive gods, making him a popular topic among bars. Sometimes he’ll go down to earth disguised just to get in on gossip. There was one incident where the people there found out who he was and reported he did indeed look very beautiful. As a god, Warriors finds this hilarious.
-He is totally the mix of the unconcerned big brother and the cool uncle (though if we’re being honest he acts more like a cool aunt than a cool uncle).
-He often needs or has to give help to pretty much everyone, including Time as always and Twilight in specific scenarios.
Wind: God of the Wind
-Little man.
-Pretty young by god standards.
-He controls the winds and the currents they follow, he can also summon stuff like storms and tornadoes for example.
-He wanted to be called Breeze but people ended up calling him his normal god title without even knowing it, boring if you asked him
-Sailors and pirates pray to him a lot, people interested in war efforts also appeal to him for oversea battles. But Wind, while looking up to Time, also looks up to and is more inclined to go along with whatever Warriors’ standpoint is, so he completely ignores them and lets the wind have its own fun. Sometimes he’ll personally screw with armadas and battleships for the heck of it.
-He adores the concept of pirates and desperately wants to be one.
-He was declared (along with some of the others like Wild and Hyrule for example) too young and too brash to go down and pretend to be a mortal without heavy supervision.
-Despite this, he has totally snuck out and joined a pirate crew multiple times, and somehow let it slip to the pirates multiple times that he was, in fact, a god.
-This has gotten him in deep water before but he continues doing it for fun. He has even pulled more adventurous and fun loving gods like Wild and Hyrule down with him, they’ve been found out as gods at least once doing this and were forced to retreat before something bad happened (specifically to Wild). Every time they’ve gotten caught by their fellow gods and got into even worse trouble.
-He often cooperates with Wild for his control over birds and the ocean, Warriors because of oversea battles, and Hyrule to keep magic in the air.
Four: God of Minerals
-Even littler man.
-Basically has control over stone and gems, hence his name.
-It’s more powerful than it seems, as the planet people stand on is just one giant rock, meaning if he really wanted to he could just grow spikes everywhere and kill everyone (he may have gotten mad at one particularly cruel noble and crystallized his entire family but we don’t talk about that-)
-He is commonly prayed to by miners and monarchs seeking riches. Occasionally he’ll get a smith’s prayers, as the god has dabbled in the smithing business as well, so they also beg of him.
-Mortals were once again confused with him. At first they called him the God of Mining or God of Caves, as praying to him would net them more riches. Then the whole crystalized noble family thing happened and people begun to rethink how they perceived the god.
-Some cultists, who thought all the gods were bad, looked at this event and said that the god was too dangerous. They did a massive and costly ritual that forcibly summoned Four, their goal being to greatly diminish his power and then kill him. Luckily, Twilight, ever the protective brother, interrupted them and ruthlessly slaughtered the cultists.
-The ritual was incomplete, instead of drastically weakening the god it split him apart, meaning he had four halves that could merge into one, the colors!
-It was all very confusing and distressing when Twilight brought him back in four pieces, but they eventually figured out what was happening and how to get him to merge. Time offered to fix him but Four declined, him both merged and split preferred this and saw it as a strength (plus, his four halves were like four new brothers that they all already knew!).
-Sometimes he’ll split so he can do more work in multiple areas at once, earning the now colorfully clad god the name Four by mortals.
-Green, Blue, Red, and Vio are not as powerful split, they are still immortal and capable of great damage alone but it isn’t enough to destroy the planet like they usually could.
-The colors usually don’t touch down on Earth without fusing first, as it is more dangerous and their brothers would never allow it. They also don’t have a larger, godlike form, they only have it when merged, it’s another reason they can’t touch down without being whole.
-Four is particularly interested in the little minish civilizations that plodded their little claws along his dirt. He asked Hyrule to help him perfect a minish form in his likeness so he could be among the little creatures.
-While alone Vio briefly dabbled in the study of dark magics after talking to Hyrule and Legend about it, he tried a spell out on a big mirror and accidentally summoned a portal that brought forth a shadow version of a non split Four. The mirror then proceeded to shatter from the force of the magic trapping the being in their world.
-Shadow! Shadow doesn’t have any godlike powers or a larger form, but he does have all of his normal abilities, and he is a shadow of a god so he has immortality and stuff. Vio and him are great friends and the other colors and gods get along with him well enough. The guy usually hangs with the mischief makers like Wind and Wild while nagging the colors whenever they aren’t merged constantly, especially Vio. Even when they are merged Shadow is all over them.
-Twilight was pretty mad about the whole thing because Shadow is from another realm and shouldn’t even be allowed in their godly domain, but the others practically begged the deity to let Shadow stay, and he unwillingly obliged (the puppy dog eyes got him). Things are a bit tense between Shadow and Twilight, but they are working on it.
-Let’s just say Hyrule banned him off of spells after Vio somehow managed to accidentally summon a shadow version of his merged self, a welcome shadow, yes, but they don’t all need an accidentally summoned shadow that are almost but not quite gods.
-Four usually collaborates with Warriors for materials for weapons, Wild who has dominion over everything that lays across the rock he controls, and Hyrule to keep magic in the ground.
Wild: God of the Wilds
-Definition: Sweet, but feral.
-Wild has control of, well, the wilds: plants, animals, crops, and the entire ocean and every horrific creature that’s in it.
-Time is the main god, but Wild is considered to be the one most commonly prayed to and given gifts to by the most people. Royals, soldiers, generals, nobles, and peasants all need food, sailors and pirates need to travel the ocean, explorers need the wilderness to agree with them, and pretty much everyone everywhere doesn’t want to be attacked by animals or afflicted by disease.
-That’s another thing, his power includes the ability grow, to force any kind of cell reproduction. He can essentially make it ten times as likely to pull yourself out of a deadly disease (even when no one in this time period knows what cells are).
-He is actually the one who would most likely go down in a one on one fight as he has been significantly weakened. People constantly harming the environment and abusing the life it holds has greatly diminished his physical ability, so much so he can’t walk right in a physical form.
-Whenever a great event that destroys a lot of plant life, kills a bunch of animals, or messes with the ocean happens a new burn wound will appear on his body. Even after he helps the land recover the wound stays and ultimately scars, they’re permanent. The injuries cause intense headaches and amnesia, he has a hard time remembering things and is often confused on where he is or who the people he’s with are (this is just to bring the amnesia and scar thing into a world where they are gods in a way that makes sense.)
-His brothers freak the freak out every time it happens and go into panic mode. They were in an inconsolable state the first time it happened, a blind rage. Their screams of fury and vengeance could be heard rattling the Earth as each of their dominions began to crack (like for example: the winds would begin blowing savagely from Wind’s anguish, the ground would begin to quake from Four’s fury, barriers keeping realities apart would start to wobble and break at Twilight’s crave for retribution).
-Let’s just say anyone who is responsible for a new burn doesn’t make it out… Not that they’re dead! They’re just being tortured for eternity…
-Wild is a gremlin and will often defy the orders of the Gods and go to Earth to play in the trees and grasses. He also likes to hang out with spirits/creatures like Korok’s, Kikwi’s or The Lord of the Mountain because all of their appearances and or connections to him greatly peak his interest.
-His injuries caused his brain to grow scrambled, he acts very childlike, loses focus often, and wanders around lost a lot of the time. (This just serves to make his brothers even more panicked when he’s wandered off to who knows where).
-He gets relief from their constant eyes whenever Wind or Hyrule pulls him down to Earth to do stuff (until they’re ultimately caught and punished by being squished in the cuddle pile).
-He often cooperates with Wind for the birds and sailors, Four because most of his stuff relies on the rock and dirt beneath it all, Warriors who keeps the devastation at bay, and Hyrule to keep magic in nature (and because he wants to learn about the magic critters).
Legend: God of Prophecy
-Touch-starved idiot who refuses to admit he’s touch-starved.
-He’s technically the God of Dreams who just so happens to be able to see in the future, but after an incident involving a powerful, almost godlike being known as the Windfish that may have messed with his power and brain, he prefers God of Prophecy now, meaning he was more than happy to accept the name Legend from the people.
-He can will himself to appear into the minds of those asleep, from there he can give them predictions of the future. He also occasionally gives general advice but he isn’t that good at it and often just offends whoever he is speaking to.
-He is the god that is depicted the most accurately in paintings as he is commonly seen in people’s dreams. The others to be most accurately represented are Wild, Wind, and Hyrule, but that’s because they’ve been caught so many times. And it’s only their mortal forms accurately depicted, not their true ones, Legend has both of his forms being depicted accurately.
-Pretty much anyone seeking guidance will pray to him, though it is likely he only appears to those who actually need it, or those that he deems needs a good slapping to the face.
-His schedule gets pretty full during wartime, which he despises because he has to hang out with Warriors and Warriors is the WORST.
-He will sometimes scour the future to see if he can prevent any major events that may harm the land and, in return, his brother.
-He is very negative about his powers and god status- especially after the Windfish- but when asked if he’d give it up he’d say “You’d think these idiots would let me leave?” Which translates to “And leave my brothers? Not for the world.”
-He occasionally goes down to dance and sing among people, he finds festivities somewhat fun and tries to inconspicuously introduce a few to his brothers so they can all do them together (he is almost always called out by Warriors or Wind, they all end up playing card games until someone gets frustrated or Sky deems it nap time and flops onto his closest victim brother).
-He made friends with the mortal Ravio, our lovable scammer who cosplays as a purple bunny, along with his weirdly shaped bird, Sheerow. Ravio doesn’t yet know his new friend a god, but he does know Legend has incredible power after the god helped save him and his wares, the bunny admired him and started calling him “Mr. Hero”.
-Legend sheepishly asked Hyrule to help him make a magical item that would let him turn into a bunny, he refused to tell the magic god what it was for. He also neglects to tell Ravio, who doesn’t know it’s Legend getting all the snuggles and love from within his lap.
-He often cooperates with Warriors for wartime and Sky because of the lovesick goons that take up way too much of their time.
Hyrule: God of Magic
-Sweet tooth.
-Any and all things magic, whether it be the faint, unnoticeable pulsing in the ground or great, electric staffs capable of immense destruction, it all falls under his control.
-He likes to dwell with magic creatures and spirits, his favorite being fairies. He liked them so much that he created a fairy form when he was younger (he has gotten stuck in a bottle and has been forced to reveal himself as a being of great power to escape so many times).
-His first few times dabbling in the lives of mortals was at a time where people weren’t as knowledgeable on magic. To them it seemed that his power spread throughout everything! Especially in the Kingdom Hyrule (where fairies frequented), thus, he was named Hyrule. Of course it was later discovered that he was actually the God of Magic, but the cute nicknames like Rule, Rules, and Rulie stuck so much so that the rest of the boys never really stopped calling him Hyrule, even when the mortals moved onto Magic.
-He is often prayed to by magic users, wanting to learn or gain power from him, and explorers, hoping to find powerful artifacts or new and exciting magical creatures.
-His domain also blankets potions, meaning he is often seen as some sort of god of healing which fills his mailbox up during wartime. He isn’t really, magic just sometimes falls under healing categories as well. Wild is closer to a healing god than him for his ability to decimate disease.
-Hyrule goes down to Earth the most, to explore and wander. If he wasn’t so concerned over Wild he would bring him for his longer explorations, instead they only stay out for a few days when together.
-Rulie gets a lot of people praying to him over the wrong things as they don’t know how magic works.
-There are so many joking prayers (that people don’t realize are also sent to their gods along with the genuine ones) for him that he finally lost his cool, he brought down massive lighting strikes in front of every castle in every kingdom as a warning to STOP SENDING HIM FAKES!
-He collaborates with Wars during wartime, Legend to help push his future sight further with magic, and Four, Wild, and Wind to keep the magic everywhere alive and balanced.
Sky: God of Emotion
-The snuggle bug.
-He’s only called Sky because there is a saying that when you look up and stare past a rainbow’s alluring visage you can see his face smiling (you can’t, but the nickname was cute so he took it).
-His power may not sound strong at first but if he really wanted to he could manipulate the entire world, both animals and sentients alike, to bow at his feet. He would never, but the possibility counts.
-He does his best to wrangle back wars started over emotions and keep things at a balanced peace, his influence can only go so far however and once something happens that’s it, no love can stop the armada heading to the zora domain.
-He is primarily prayed to by the Gerudo who wish to find a loving husband. In fact, he is mistaken for a love god often. He gets SO many infatuated prayers of hopes for blossoming love, enough to be ahead of both Time and Wild in the ‘most prayers department’ if the gods were to consider them all serious ones.
-The amount of times he has heard his name screamed, looked at what was happening, and saw something not appropriate is a billion times too many and has traumatized him in some capacity.
-Unlike Hyrule he has never gotten mad about it even if his situation is arguably worse. How can he ever get mad at mortals? They’re so cute! That didn’t mean he didn’t get tired of it though, he was plenty done with the lovesick prayers.
-He favors the gorons as they never really stuff his mailbox full of love letters (he also doesn’t have any idea if they fall in love or how they repopulate- which is good! He doesn’t want to ever know, he has seen too much as it is).
-He sometimes slacks on his job and lets his head drift among the clouds before being shaken awake by one of his brothers saying he is slacking and that he’ll get no cuddle time if he sleeps through his work.
-He’s totally the soft teddy bear brother while also sorta being a mom friend. He will give his brothers all the snuggles (and refuse to let them go) in the world while also being worried sick over their well being.
-He has literally told Wind to go to timeout before, isn’t that the most mom thing ever?
-He needs help from Warriors to keep kingdom relations in check and with Legend to keep whoever the dream god is visiting calm during whatever offensive bull Legend is going to spew about them to their face.

Tug ‘o’ War
Another Commission!
They asked for their OC with Sky..... Let’s be real. At this point you all know who this is XD
Masterlist
Content under the cut!
When Sky first saw them, he knew that he wanted to be their friend.
They weren’t too excited with the idea though. They often avoided him when they could and struggled to meet him in the eye.
Which was fine. At first anyway. Sky was willing to work around whatever they may have been going through. Fledge is similar in that regard, but that didn’t stop Sky from interacting with him and befriending the young man. So Sky refused to let it stop him from interacting with Enno as well.
That was unfortunately easier said than done.
He tried to keep up with them and meet them at their level but they always seemed to find an excuse to get away from him. Was he scary? Did he intimidate them? Was it something he did when they first met that had them hating him? It hurts to imagine.
So Sky had to pause from interacting with them. He watched them interact with the others though. They seem to get along great with Twilight and Wind. They joked and rough housed. Enno seemed to constantly seek out either of their attention but Sky couldn’t figure out what he was doing differently than they were.
Once Sky was paired up with Twilight (seeing as Enno was paired up with Wind), Sky took it upon himself to get to the bottom of it. He had to be missing something.
“Hey… Twilight…” Sky pokes the arm of his companion. “I have a question.”
The other turned around and hiked up his scabbard on his back. “Sure, what’s up?”
Sky rubbed his arms, feeling a strange bout of butterflies in his stomach. “You talk to Enno a lot so you know them better than I do at this point. Would you say that I scare them? Or did I do something to get them to hate me?”
Twilight paused. “...What?”
“Yeah-! Because every time I try to talk to them, they always seem to try to drop out of the conversation. They look at everything but me. But they don’t have a problem with you, or Wind or the Old Man -especially not Warrior. They get along fine with Legend and Wild and they even dote on Hyrule. They even look Four in the eye! Am I doing something wrong?” Sky huffed. He didn’t intend to let those amount of words slip out of his mouth but the more he thought about it, the more he realized that clearly he was singled out. He just couldn’t figure out why.
Twilight continues to stare at Sky, not letting any thought slip onto his face. “And you haven’t thought of any reason why?”
“I wouldn’t be asking you if I would have been able to figure it out on my own.” Sky gripes. “I’ve tried. I’m still lost. Help me.”
Twilight finally begins to show signs of amusement on his face. “I was more or less sworn to secrecy, but I can point you in the right direction.”
“Sworn to secrecy?” Sky echoes under his breath. He gasps. “So you do know!”
“Yes. Most of us do, actually.” Twilight shrugs. “It’s obvious.”
“...Obv-... obvious?”
“Yes.” Twilight isn’t trying to be mean on purpose, but the chosen hero of Hylia can be quite dense. “Look. At best, just flirt with them and watch their reaction.”
“Wouldn’t that be the worst thing I could do?”
“Most of the time.” Twilight wants to shake him. “But in these circumstances, it’ll work like a charge. Just try it.”
Sky did not, in fact, want to try it.
It seemed like the biggest jerk move, to hit on them, when he clearly makes them uncomfortable as it is. Not only does he think that it would make the problem worse but he’s not exactly inclined to come off as Warrior does from time to time.
But as days went by and nothing seemed to get better, Sky found himself getting more and more desperate for answers. He just didn’t know what it was that made them avoid him so much. He was a good guy! Right? Oh god, what if he wasn’t? What if he ruined his chances before he started? What if he makes it worse? What if there’s no way for him to fix this?
He gets paired with Enno for the day as they travel.
The walk is awkward and silent. Sky is used to silence but there’s an underlying hint of dying inside between the two of them. Given by the way they keep their head down the entire time, Sky thinks that he’s not half wrong with his intuition.
Twilight words echo in his head. It’s still a terrible idea. But now that they’re alone… it’s tempting. He can start slow and steady. Soft and sincere. Maybe they just got off on the wrong foot. He should start by saying something nice. Maybe that would loosen them up.
“I like your jacket.” Sky says quietly. “It looks soft.”
Enno freezes. They stop dead in their tracks but keep their head down. Sky can almost hear the gears turning in their head. Clearly, they weren’t expecting it.
They cough and nod. And start walking again, if a little faster than before.
Sky matches their pace easily. He sighs. A failed attempt. Try again?
“I also think your markings are cool.” Sky swallows the bitter pill that his nerves have bundled up together. “Are they tattoos like Twilights… or closer to the markings from the Old Man?”
Is that a personal question? Sky cringes internally. He’s never been this bad at socializing. When did his skills tank?
They actually trip over their own feet for a moment before finding their voice. It’s quiet and a tad forced. “Um… n-no. It’s more like… the marks of my people.”
“Your people?” Well that’s the most he’s ever heard from them. This can go somewhere! “I’ve never seen markings like that on anybody. Where are you from?”
They curl a little into themselves, hiding their nose behind their cloak. “It’s far away. …I doubt you’ve heard of it. Twilight knows though. Even if he goes by the same thing even though it was my name first.”
Wait… what? Sky tilts his head. “Do you know Twilight? Have you met him before this whole journey.”
They seem to freeze again, their eyes widening ever so slightly. “Well… yes and no. He’s… been to my home before and I’ve been to his but we’ve never actually met before this.”
“Interesting.” Sky nods and hooks his thumbs through his belt. Maybe Twilight knew more about them than Sky was willing to bet. Ok then, small flirt to test out his theory. “Do you miss it?”
“Sometimes.” They adjust the cloak over their nose. They’re still trying to hide from him but they’re talking at least so that’s a start.
Sky nods again, trying to appear nonchalant. “Is it pretty?”
“Very.”
“Do all people look like you?” Sky has a line in his head that he wants to say but he needs to build to it or else it might not work.
Enno hums, or whines (?), and shakes their head. “I’m the only one like me.”
“Shame.” Sky says. “But I suppose unique beauty is all the more stunning when it stands out amongst the common design.”
He wants to kick himself. His delivery was horrible.
Sky only manages to stop himself from face palming before Enno makes a high keening sound. It keeps Sky away from his own self judgment as he turns to look at them in concern. “Are you ok?”
“I’m fINe.” They squeak. A light pulsates from their markings, catching Sky’s attention.
He finds himself smiling. “Incredible.”
“What is?” They sound horrified.
Sky doesn’t miss a beat. “You are.”
They put their hand over their mouth, even though their cloak was already doing all of the work. Their markings pulsate once more, brighter and more vibrant than before. Sky grins in response to it. It’s stunning. The way the teal and black mend into the white light. If he was certain they were tattoos before, here is his proof that they’re not.
“It’s beautiful.” He breathes out. Sky can feel himself forgetting where he is and who he’s talking to. But it’s so genuine, he can’t seem to stop the words as they fall out of his mouth. “You’re beautiful. Have you always been able to do this?”
“Stop.” They say.
Sky takes a step back to give them space. He might have overstepped his boundaries.
“I’m sorry.” He says automatically.
“No, that’s not-” They cut themselves off, seemingly growing more frustrated by the second. “Not you. Hold on. I can’t. Wait.”
Sky waits.
“Are you ok?” He wants to take a step closer but he’s afraid that there’s going to be major repercussions if he tries to intervene.
“Not your fault!” They yell, probably louder than they were intending. They wince at their own volume and wrap their arms around themselves. “Just- hold- hold on… I’m trying.”
The light pulsates again. It’s even brighter than the last time and each new wave of light seems to last longer than the first.
Sky can’t even begin to comprehend what’s happening. “Did… did I do something wrong?”
“Nope!” They yell and something strange happens. The light pulsates again but it stays, blinding Sky for one terrifying and confusing second. He reacts in the only way he can. By holding his breath and covering his face as he steps away.
Sky’s breath gets caught in his throat and he lowers his arms from his face once the light has died down completely.
“You!” A new voice screams.
Sky blinks. There’s two people there… where there was once only one. The man gets up faster than the young woman and manages to tackle her down before she can dive towards Sky. Sky steps away, putting his hands up in surrender. There’s no thoughts in his head- only information processing mode.
What just happened? What is happening?
“Twilight!” The young man yells. “There’s no reason to attack him! Leave him be!”
“Do you know how hard it is to hold ourselves together as it is?” ‘Twilight’, who is not his teammate, screams back. “It’s his fault. He’s too cute and pretty and nice!”
Sky points to himself intelligently. “M-me?”
Twilight screams in indignation. The other, which has yet to be named, looks to Sky apologetically. The young man is blushing. “Sorry. We’ll fix it in a moment. Just give us some time to get a grip and we’ll be back to your Enno.”
“...My Enno...” Sky repeats.
“Dusk!” The woman summons a massive battle ax and swings it. She doesn’t get far with it, seeing as ‘Dusk’ is pinning her arms down as he holds her. “So help me! Let! Me! Go!”
“No!” He yells. “I’m not letting you hurt him. Calm down.”
“Never tell a woman to calm down!”
“I’ve never been more lost.” Sky admits, sagging in on himself. “Can we start from the beginning?...Maybe with the whole ‘he’s pretty’ part?”
Twilight screams again.
Dusk only seems to blush deeper. “It’s a long story, even if she’s right.”
Slowly becoming exhausted, Twilight starts to calm down. Dusk continues talking. “We’re both Enno.”
“Both of you?” Sky points. He receives a nod in reply. “Enno is …two people?”
“Enno is one person.” Twilight huffs and crosses her arms, dropping her battle ax. It just misses Dusk’s foot. “But between the two of us we both make up Enno. It’s not like there’s two voices. We meld. We mix. We are Enno.”
Sky takes a long and deep suffering breath. “Can… Can this be fixed?” He asks, if only because he’s afraid that it’s permanent. “Is there a way to do that?”
“Yes.” Dusk replies, mirroring the same long experienced suffering sigh. “We just need to get a grip. Like I said.”
“You’re such a jerk.” Twilight pouts.
Sky nods, keeping his mouth shut. He’s doomed.

A new day
Revali x reader
A/N: I worked on this while I was at work. Don’t tell my boss please.
Summary: You make Revali so nervous.
Being high up in the Tabantha region, the morning was usually really chilly.  You snuggled into the fort of blankets Revali has hoarded for you over the last three days only to find something else warm in your hammock. Shooting up, you saw a puff of dark blue feathers next to you. Looking closer through your sleepy eyes, you realized that Revali was still in the hammock. He usually work up when the sun rose so when you, ever the late waker compared to him, woke up first, was a surprise. He looked so peaceful and unbothered. It was so unlike the usual appearance he kept up. Settling down closer to him, nearly on top of him, you looked down and smiled. He was pretty cute like this, huh?
Leaning down, you kissed his forehead, his beak, his cheeks over and over again. His face scrunched up slightly and groaned. Revali’s eyes opened slightly only to see you on top of him smiling like an idiot. As quick as the wind, he sat up and almost knocked you out of the bed you two shared. Before you actually did fall, he wrapped his wings around your waist and flipped you over with ease.
“And what do you think you’re doing, (Y/N)?”
“Morning ‘Vali.” You giggled. “Ive never seen you sleep in so late before.”
“You sleep in my bed and question my sleeping habits? That’s a bold move from someone in your position.” He smirked.
“Well then what are you gonna do huh?” You smirked back at him. You sat back up and innocently slipped your legs from under him.  As quick as you could, you peck his beak then ran out of the room with you paraglider and jacket in hand.
“Catch me if you can!” You giggled. Once you got your jacket on, you leaped off the Rito Village platform and flew to the nearest mountain peak as quick as you can. Revali was not too far behind you with his bow and arrow of course.
“Hylia, you’re giving me a heart attack, you know that?” He yelled. He got no answer but another laugh in return. When you both hit the mountain top,you looked back at Rito village. It was beautiful bathed in the golden hour light. Not that you can’t come to see it often, but to see it with Revali was something else. He landed behind you and sighed.
“All that to look at a village huh?”
“ Your Village, Revali. It’s beautiful.”
“That’s where we live in. You’ve seen it plenty.”
“We?” You said as you looked back at him. “From what I remember, I live with the princess and this is merely a vacation for me. And all to visit a Rito who stole my heart.”His feather around his neck poofed up as he tried to look at anywhere but you. He stuttered for a moment before he finally got his tongue untied.
“I would like you to stay. With me, of course. At Rito Village, whenever you can.”
You looked up at him in shock. You’ve rarely seen him like this before. It was like a whole new person was right in front of you. The only other time you’ve seen him like this was when he was in deep deep trouble.
Then it hit you like a freight train. He was shy. With you! This egotistical, stubborn to the end of the land bird was shy with you! You walked up to him and stood on your tippy toes in front of him. His wings instinctively wrapped around you. His eyes still struggled to meet yours but he tried so hard. You made him so nervous.
“Ive been thinking about it for a while now (Y/N) and I can’t get the thought out of my head.” He spoke so carefully. “Stay, (Y/N), with me.”
“Of course ‘Vali. Im not going anywhere.” You said softly. You pecked his beak again. He took a big sigh. He let go of you and stood tall again. Now this side of Revali you’ve seen so many times before. It was when he had a statement to make.
“Watch me.” He said as he flew up into the sky. As the sun light passed through the heart-shaped hole (Yes, the one needed for the shrine.) in the pillar that supported Rito Village, he grabbed his bow and arrows. He aimed his bow high and like a bullet he let his arrows rain in the air. The arrows, much to your surprise, burst in mid-air in a bright puff of smoke spelling out “MARRY ME” Your eyes widened as you covered your mouth in surprise. You couldn’t help as tears started to well up in your eyes. Was this why he was so nervous?
He flew above the message staring at you. He looked so confident as he was there, waiting for your answer and all you can do was nod. You nodded your head so violently that he was almost worried for a second. You opened your arms wide as you can a gesture of Yes! Yes Revali, I will marry you.
Seeing your arms, Revali puffs out his chest and swoops you down towards you. He shows no sign of stopping the closer he gets to you. Oh you know what’s about to happen. Your arms stay as wide open as you can keep them. When he’s close enough, you wrap your arms around his chest as he lifts the both of you into the air.
“My beautiful bride, to love and to hold.” He says.

it's dangerous to go alone
two years after shadow and vio's evil takeover, the gang reunites for dinner. this is a multi-chapter continuation of the oneshot "thank darkness for that," which introduces a corruption-type au that's actually super chill. definitely read the one-shot before following this one!
Tumblr media
chapter 5 of 7: the cellar (4971 words)
She had tried to hate Shadow and Vio, that first year of their reign. She’d even planned a few assassination attempts, but ended up deactivating her own traps at the last second. Maybe she’s too sentimental, but something about Shadow and Vio’s wedding had caused her to reevaluate her perception of them both. Seeing Hyrule Castle in such a flourishing state, witnessing them so obviously happy and in love… it had given her pause.
And thank Hylia it did, because Zelda infinitely prefers a living Shadow to a dead one.
Vio’s fine too, even if he’s kind of a little bitch sometimes.
read the full chapter on ao3 or under the cut:
“Well, this sucks.”
Zelda nods in agreement as Shadow shuts the door behind them, trapping the pair in yet another dark hallway. She can’t see a damn thing, but…
“Door at the end of the hall,” Shadow confirms, and Zelda feels him take her hand. “You good?”
“I’m fine,” Zelda says, allowing herself to be led. “It was nice of Tingle to leave you with night vision.”
“I’m sure it was accidental,” Shadow says grimly.
“Sorry about that, by the way. I did not see that coming.”
Shadow sighs. “We should have been more careful. For a pair of evil manipulative usurpers, we really let ourselves get evil manipulated usurped.”
Zelda can’t help but chuckle at Shadow’s strange manner of speech. She’s noticed, over the past year they’ve worked together, that he seems to naturally combine his own chaotic, almost theatrical voice with Vio’s pretentious turns of phrase. King Shadow is casually informal, earnestly ironic—a far cry from the unstable megalomaniac who had imprisoned Zelda in the Tower of Spirits.
“Hate to break it to you, Shadow, but you haven’t been evil for a while. I’ve personally thanked you for taking the throne on multiple occasions, and we both know Vio’s the manipulative one between the two of you.”
Shadow huffs indignantly. “I tricked you into giving up your Triforce!”
“But were you lying? I seem to recall discussion of defying Hylia’s wishes and pursuing happiness on our own terms. Sure, you left out some vital details, but… to a degree, I knew what I was getting into.”
“I am evil,” Shadow insists. “I kidnapped you, kept you hostage for months! I asked Vio to straight-up murder Green! I burned—”
Zelda puts up a hand she knows he can see, cutting him off. “Don’t get me wrong, I slapped you because you deserved it. But that was then, and this is now. Whether you like it or not, Shadow, your evil days are far behind you.”
He must know she won’t budge on this, and so he wordlessly waves a white flag. They’re exceptionally good at this, together—conversation, debate, negotiation. Zelda does far more good for Hyrule as the Kings’ royal advisor than she’d ever done as its Princess, having shrugged royal tradition and the sole responsibility of decision-making. The others may have magic and swords, but Zelda’s brain is her superpower. Ironically, the Triforce of Wisdom had limited her ability to use it. She much prefers this life she’s forged for herself, with Green and the ranch and a job she actually loves.
Shadow gently grips Zelda’s shoulder, presumably to stop her from walking into a wall. “Tell me when you’re ready,” he says, failing to hide the nervousness in his voice. “I’ve got your back.”
Zelda nods and pulls the fountain pen from her bra, wielding it like a knife. “What’s that saying,” she asks with a small smile, “the pen is mightier than the sword?”
“In terms of mightiness, I think it goes fountain pen, wooden stake, and then sword.”
“Well, here’s hoping there isn’t a sword in there—oh, wait.”
Shadow chuckles at that. “You ready? For real, this time.”
Zelda nods, and knows Shadow can see it. She hears him reaching for the knob, turning it, and opening the door a crack.
“What do you see?” Zelda asks, her voice barely a whisper.
“I know exactly where we are,” Shadow says, and Zelda can hear the smile in his voice. He strolls confidently into the warm light, motioning for her to follow.
They stand in a damp subterranean space packed with long rows of barrels. Zelda cocks her head, trying to remember if Hyrule Castle had a craft brewery during her time living there, but comes up short.
“It’s our evil root beer cellar!” Shadow announces, as if that automatically means they’re home safe. Zelda shushes him, trying to get a look past the closest rows of barrels, where Hylia knows what could be waiting to attack. Even without enemies, Zelda can easily determine the room’s challenge—it’s a giant maze, presumably with a Four Sword in the center.
“Why did you arrange the barrels like this?” Zelda asks quietly, already looking for an entry point. The barrels are stacked too tightly for either of them to squeeze between them, and would be dangerous to scale as anything other than a last resort.
Shadow shrugs. “I didn’t. Do you think Tingle turned it into some kind of maze?”
“Way ahead of you,” Zelda says, grabbing Shadow by the arm and leading him to a small gap. “Are you any good at this? I did a corn maze with Green, Red, and Blue once, but it ended up a total disaster. Green almost had an aneurysm trying to understand the map, and Blue started getting all claustrophobic, which of course freaked Red out because those two are like a bonded pair. Eventually I just told them all to use their Four Swords to cut us out and then we got apple cider donuts. Pretty good day, actually. Definitely fucking better than this one.”
A shadow (improper noun) falls over Shadow’s (proper noun) face. “I wish we could all be friends.”
Zelda watches Shadow’s hat wilt. “We can’t force anyone to get along,” she tells him softly, “but for what it’s worth, I’m glad we still tried.”
Shadow nods, meeting Zelda’s eyes. “Thanks. Me too.”
Zelda cracks her knuckles and stares ahead at the narrow passageway. “Now let’s find this sword and get out of here.”
“Sounds good to me,” Shadow replies, following closely behind.
They wander through the maze of barrels for about twenty minutes, only occasionally speaking up when a specific barrel looks too familiar. Eventually they notice warm tones of firelight against a nearby wall of evil root beer, hopefully signifying a rest area ahead.
“Do you think there are monsters?” Shadow whispers, lining up beside Zelda against the wall. “Fire can’t light itself.”
“Not sure,” Zelda says, craning her neck. “Trying to get a better look.”
“I’d say it could be Skirrsa, but she’s on vacation right now.”
Zelda turns back to him. “Skirrsa, your dragon?”
“No, Skirrsa, my fake girlfriend— yes , Skirrsa, my dragon. Not that she’s actually mine, she’s like her own independent—”
“Who goes there?” calls a booming voice, the firelight shifting as something seems to move in their direction.
“ Shit shit shit shit shit ,” Shadow says under his breath, eyes darting for a place they can hide. They could go back the way they came, but they’d still be easily spotted, and—
“Demon Shadow Link!” exclaims a taller-than-average Hinox, who greets them both like this is some kind of coincidental meeting at the grocery store.
“Demon?” Shadow and Zelda ask in unison, to the Hinox’s apparent confusion. Shadow turns to Zelda and mutters, “No one’s called me that since…”
“Taking the prisoner on a stroll, I see!” the Hinox continues, looking Zelda up and down. “Lord Vaati must have given you permission to release her from the tower.”
There’s an obvious edge in his voice, a vague threat of what, blackmail? Vaati’s dead, and so is Ganon. Shadow is a king and nobody’s master, and Zelda hasn’t been a prisoner in years. Did this Hinox get knocked on the head and wake up thinking it’s two years ago, or…?
“She’s not a pri—” Shadow begins to say, but Zelda elbows him in the gut. “Hey! What was that for?”
“You’re my captor,” Zelda says between gritted teeth. “I just elbowed you, aren’t you going to do something about that?”
Shadow gawks at her, searching her eyes for an explanation. They don’t have time for this, and Zelda doubts she could subtly explain—so instead, she decides to slap Shadow across the face. Again.
“Ow, Zelda, what the fuck?!”
Zelda rolls her eyes as she’s apprehended by the Hinox, who holds her arms behind her back. Shadow rubs his reddened cheek, seems to realize that he looks kind of pathetic, and straightens his posture with a scowl.
“Release her,” Shadow instructs the Hinox in an unmistakably unpleasant tone. “Vaati has requested the prisoner’s temporary removal from the tower so it can be searched for contraband weapons.”
“Like what?” the Hinox asks, cocking his head.
“You’re not getting paid to ask questions,” Shadow condescends. “Now, lead me to the others. I’m thirsty.”
The Hinox nods and turns towards the firelight, leaving Shadow and Zelda to exchange uncertain eye contact. Zelda hides her fountain pen back in her bra, then looks up to Shadow frantically pointing to the item strapped to the Hinox’s back.
“ Blue’s sword ,” she mouths to Shadow, who nods vigorously with a thumbs-up. He squeezes her hand and yanks her into the center of the maze, where three other Hinoxes sit around a campfire roasting marshmallows. Zelda cocks her head.
“Uh, is that safe? We’re in a basement.”
“This is no basement!” one of the seated Hinoxes exclaims. “We are in the Fire Temple!”
“They’re right,” Shadow says coolly. “Now somebody, beer me.”
“Do you want to wait for your companion?” asks another Hinox, the connotation of the word ‘companion’ causing Zelda to raise an eyebrow.
Shadow looks flustered, just for a second, but quickly regains his composure. “Vio is… napping.”
“Napping?”
“Big evil day for him. All tuckered out. No more questions.”
“Here,” says one of the Hinoxes, handing Shadow a chilled stein of evil root beer. Zelda watches him take a deep swig (for courage?) and crosses her arms over her chest.
“You aren’t going to offer me some?” she asks with a challenging smirk.
“Oh, sor—” Shadow begins to say, then cringes. “I mean, shut up, prisoner.”
“Should we apprehend her?” a Hinox asks, eyeing Zelda suspiciously. She wonders what he thinks of her business-casual attire, the pink shift dress so different from an elaborate royal gown. She wonders a lot of things about this absurd situation, none of which she can currently ask.
“You can’t see it,” Shadow tells the Hinox, “but I’m totally using invisible dark magic right now, and she’s not going anywhere.”
“Oh, no!” Zelda exclaims, pressing her wrists together. “Not the dark magic!”
“The contraband search won’t take long, anyway,” Shadow says as he takes another sip of his evil root beer. “Just ignore her.”
The Hinoxes nod slowly, seemingly buying Shadow’s charade. This sardonic demeanor still fits him like a hand-knitted glove, and Zelda almost wishes he’d bring it out more often during tough negotiations.
“Anyway,” Shadow drawls, turning to the first Hinox they’d encountered. “I can’t help but notice a non-standard issue weapon strapped on your back.”
The Hinox cocks his head. “What are you talking about? You specifically requested that I hold onto it, so the purple hero doesn’t have to see it and feel sad.”
Shadow’s expression softens. “Aw, I did?”
Zelda loudly clears her throat.
“I mean,” Shadow amends, “I know I did. But like I said, Vio’s napping, and I want another look at it. So give it here.”
The Hinox’s frown deepens. “Can’t do that. Vaati ordered me to keep it out of your hands.”
“And why, in the name of darkness, is that?”
“I don’t know, I just follow orders.”
Shadow puts his hands on his hips, scowling. “Well, forget Vaati! I’m the one in charge here, you take orders from me!”
The Hinox glances back at the others, engaging in some kind of wordless communication. Zelda watches Shadow and manages to meet his eyes, but there isn’t much she can offer by means of encouragement.
She tries to sort through what exactly about this scenario is based in reality—obviously Tingle manipulated the Hinoxes’ minds to place them back in the past, but what other details had he changed? She assumes Blue’s sword is an addition—that’s why the Hinox can’t explain its presence—but this little campfire setup, their listlessness due to an apparent lack of purpose? Zelda is almost positive that’s real.
Hopefully, Shadow is thinking along those same lines. Both Kings of Hyrule are very smart, but Shadow has always outshone his husband in terms of empathy. Not that Vio is apathetic—from what Shadow tells Zelda, he’s privately very sensitive—but it’s always been clear that Shadow is the more emotionally intelligent of the pair. Even at his worst, which Zelda has more or less witnessed for herself, Shadow had obviously struggled with his own feelings of insecurity and fear. And yes, he’d been in denial about those feelings, and lashed out as a result, but it’d always felt like he was one step away from figuring out the problem and doing something about it.
And maybe that’s why Zelda had gone along with his and Vio’s plan to spite the Goddess—Shadow had actually figured out the problem. False pretenses aside, his reasoning made sense, and through their interactions Zelda had even discovered her own discontentment reflected in Shadow. Perhaps sometimes, people need a dark mirror to understand their own true desires.
And truthfully, Zelda has had her own bone to pick with Hylia since childhood, when she’d have to spend hours praying and attending royal ceremonies instead of playing with Link. The original Hero, who she had genuinely loved. Not romantically—not yet, at least—but they had understood each other so thoroughly, and that had fuck-all to do with Hylia’s divine plan.
Zelda loves Green, too, of course, but he’s just not the same. Neither are Red and Blue, and certainly not Vio, who must have been the part of Link that he’d been most hesitant to reveal.
It’s strange. Now that she thinks about it, the closest person in Zelda’s life to the original Link… is Shadow.
“Listen,” the sword-bearing Hinox tells Shadow, “we’re Vaati’s employees. All of us, including you. So I’m not sure why you think you have the authority to go over his head.”
Shadow stomps his foot, and Zelda has to stifle a laugh. That’s definitely not part of the act.
“If you won’t give me the sword, I’ll—”
The other Hinoxes stand immediately, brandishing their marshmallow-roasting sticks with clear hostile intent. Shadow shrinks back, for good reason. This is a physical fight he simply can’t win.
But Zelda can see the gears in his head turn. Shadow sighs, raising his hands in surrender, and drops down onto the floor. It’s a humbling move, and seems to put the Hinoxes at ease. They sit back around the fire and resume their listless activities.
After a moment’s pause, Shadow inches towards the campfire and taps on a Hinox’s shoulder. “What are you making?” he asks, to the Hinox’s obvious surprise.
“S’mores,” she says, offering Shadow a marshmallow and stick. The sword-bearing Hinox gives his coworker a slight glance of disapproval, but says nothing.
Shadow skewers the marshmallow and reaches forward to roast it over the fire. He is so comedically small compared to the Hinoxes, and his twitching hat betrays his nerves.
Zelda feels a little left out, to be honest, as the Hinoxes and Shadow makes s’mores in relatively companionable silence. She could try to guess what Shadow’s trying to do, but honestly? She believes in him.
“So,” Shadow says, drawing the attention of his former-but-also-kind-of-present coworkers. “I’ve been an asshole to you guys, huh?”
The Hinox closest to Shadow shrugs. “Yeah, pretty much.” The Hinox beside her elbows her in the gut. “I mean, uh, noooo…?”
“You don’t have to lie,” Shadow says, pausing to sip his evil root beer. “I’ve been very focused on Vio, I suppose I haven’t spent much time getting to know you all.”
“We don’t really want to know you,” says the sword-bearing Hinox. Zelda expects Shadow’s expression to sour, but he simply sighs.
“That’s fair. Thank you for the s’mores, anyway.”
“You’re welcome,” says the nicest Hinox. Shadow gives her what can only be described as a genuine smile.
“What’s your name?” he asks her.
“Patricia. And this is Aubrey next to me, but don’t expect them to say much.”
Aubrey gives Shadow a lazy wave.
“And you all?” Shadow asks the two remaining Hinoxes, who sit on the opposite side of the fire.
“Robin,” offers the non-sword-wielding Hinox. “Tim’s the grumpy one,” she adds teasingly. “Vaati gave him a sword and now he’s suddenly trying for Employee of the Month.”
“Ah,” Shadow says. “That’s a pretty big responsibility.”
Tim shakes off his concern. “I can handle it.”
“Well, yeah, that’s pretty obvious. I am wondering, though, if Vaati ever told you the truth about that sword?”
Shadow asks the question with such theatrical concern that it seems to genuinely alarm the others. Tim, however, remains unmoved.
“He told me everything I needed to know,” he says stiffly.
“What’s wrong with the sword?” Patricia blurts out, waving her stick wildly in Aubrey’s face. They gently take it from her and scarf down the charred remains of a marshmallow.
“Oh, it’s nothing,” Shadow says, although his face suggests otherwise. “You’ll probably be fine.”
“Probably?” asks Tim, his hand going to the strap around his chest.
“The thing is just… a little unstable,” explains Shadow. “It’s connected to the others’ swords—you know, the other three heroes—and I’ve seen Vio’s move like it has a mind of its own. You have it strapped so close to your body, it would just be a shame if it started moving in a… y’know, stabby way.”
Shadow loses some steam by the end of the appeal, but Zelda still thinks it’s a solid attempt.
Tim looks from Shadow to Robin, then over his shoulder. “I have my orders.”
Shadow is not deterred. “I understand. But… well, I’m sure Vaati knows how dangerous the sword is. I’m surprised he didn’t warn you, is all.”
Patricia frowns. “That is kind of worrisome.” Aubrey makes a so-so gesture.
Shadow sighs. “It’s a shame that our employer seems not to care about our well-being.”
“Your well-being?” challenges Tim. “You get to fly around on a dragon with your nepotism hire all day!”
Well, damn, thinks Zelda.
“Well, damn,” says Shadow. “I didn’t know you all had so much resentment towards Vaati.”
Tim begins to argue with the notion, but Robin cuts him off. “Honestly, we’ve been feeling this way for a while.” Patricia nods intently.
“Guys,” Tim says between gritted teeth, “he’s spying on us, he’s just going to tell—”
Shadow bursts out laughing. “Me, a spy for Vaati? I don’t care about that windbag. Tell you what, give me that sword and I’ll make sure to bury it in his big stupid eyeball.”
Tim reaches behind his back. “Better his than mine,” he says, offering Shadow the blue Four Sword. Zelda’s jaw drops. Holy shit, that worked.
Shadow accepts the sword but keeps a straight face. He looks to Zelda, only for a second, and then returns his attention to the Hinoxes.
Is he going to run? Should she be ready to follow? Shadow wouldn’t kill these very likable Hinoxes, but she supposes he’s not above trickery and theft. With so much at stake, she wouldn’t blame him for making a hasty exit.
But she knows that look in Shadow’s eyes. She knows how he thinks. They’ve debated justice and ethics for hours in the throne room, much to Vio’s interest and amusement.
Shadow may be acting like his selfish, insecure former self—but deep down, Zelda knows what he stands for.
“So here’s the thing,” Shadow says, his voice promptly losing its theatrical edge. He steps backwards and holds the sword close to his chest, giving Zelda a small nod to intervene if necessary. “We’re not in the Fire Temple.”
“What?” asks Robin, grabbing Tim’s arm to stop him from charging.
“It’s been two years since Vaati’s defeat,” Shadow continues, “and we are currently inside the dungeons of Hyrule Castle.”
“That can’t be true,” Patricia says, looking to Aubrey for reassurance. “We all woke up here at the fire, just like usual, and…”
Shadow shakes his head. “I don’t know who you are, or where Tingle found you, but you’re not evil anymore. The Dark World actually overlaps with the light, now. Not much need for Hinox henchpeople in modern Hyrule.”
“Why should we believe you?” asks Robin, and Zelda’s pretty sure she’s the only thing between Shadow and the wrath of Tim.
“Because I assume you want to live,” Shadow says matter-of-factly. “The person who set up this entire thing wants us dead, and put you four here as potential threats to our lives. But I’m sure he was also aware of the possibility that we’d kill you first.”
Patricia wrinkles her nose. “You mean Vaati?”
“Hylia, I wish it was Vaati.”
Tim turns to Zelda and points. “What’s the Princess doing here, then?”
“Zelda’s my royal advisor,” Shadow explains. “She was with us when we got knocked out, just like all of you.”
“She’s your royal advisor?”
“Oh, yeah.” Shadow rubs the back of his neck. “I’m the King of Hyrule—but really, it’s whatever.”
“I voluntarily abdicated the throne,” Zelda half-lies with a bright smile. She stands up, lowers her wrists from their invisible restraints, and takes Shadow’s side. “Nice to meet you all, by the way.”
“Let me guess,” Tim says tiredly, returning his attention to Shadow. “The other king is…”
“Yes, but I won’t tell him about the nepotism thing.”
“I stand by it. Sounds like that’s how he got the throne, too.”
Zelda shrugs. He’s not right, but he’s also not wrong… if you count, like, being Hylia’s Chosen Hero as some kind of divine nepotism.
“I’m not going to force you all to come with us,” Shadow says to the group, “but if you’re looking to get some revenge on the real enemy… we’re pretty pissed at him, too.”
It doesn’t take long for the Hinoxes to reach a group decision.
“Fine,” says Tim, as the others abandon their campfire. “I want to see this new Hyrule.”
Shadow reaches out his hand for a shake. “You won’t be disappointed. Probably. Maybe.”
And then two things happen in rapid succession, because nothing about tonight can possibly be easy. One: the lights shut off, leaving them in near-total darkness.
Two: Shadow screams.
Zelda calls his name, reaching for him in the dark. She can barely see a thing—just large Hinox silhouettes, illuminated by the firelight. And there, on the ground, Shadow appears to writhe in pain.
Zelda falls to her knees beside him. “What’s going on?”
He tries and fails to answer, but at least she knows he’s conscious. How much pain is he experiencing? What could possibly be causing it? This doesn’t seem like Tingle’s style, not straight-up torture —
“Torch,” Shadow manages to say, and Zelda remembers the wooden stake. She grabs it from him and runs to the campfire to light it.
“Is he okay?” asks Patricia, and Zelda shakes her head. Surprisingly, Tim beats her to an answer.
“Of course he isn’t, can someone pick him up? I’ll hold onto the sword.”
“On it,” says Robin, and Zelda turns with the torch to watch her hoist Shadow’s body onto her shoulder.
“Still with us, Shadow?” Zelda asks, taking her place at the front of the group. She can lead them back through the maze—she’s smart, and she’s done it before. Of course, there wasn’t the problem of Shadow being in horrible pain before, and the lights had been on…
“Still with you,” Shadow manages to say, and despite everything Zelda smiles.
“Good. Follow me, everyone, please!”
It takes her far too long (any amount of time is too long when Shadow’s in this state), but she gets them back to the door. The door that leads back to the long hallway, to the others, to—
“Vio,” Shadow says, his voice a whimper at this point. Zelda doesn’t know if the pain has eased in the past fifteen minutes, or if it’s just gotten so bad that he can barely manage a sound at all.
“Almost there,” Zelda tells him, dropping her torch and reaching for the doorknob. The… locked doorknob. Hylia, what the fuck can she do? They hadn’t outsmarted Tingle by befriending the Hinoxes, of course they hadn’t! This room is meant to kill them, one way or another! There must have been something more in Shadow’s soup, something dormant, a failsafe in case he managed to get these brainwashed creatures on his side… and now they’re going to die here, and there is absolutely nothing Zelda can—
Tim punches the door from its frame.
Shadow somehow chuckles, and then weakly sings the bizarre jingle only he can hear.
They make it through the dark corridor, bust down yet another door, and—finally—burst back into the main dungeon hall. Now drenched in light, Shadow looks like he’s on death’s door.
Zelda falls to his side and grabs his hand. It’s ice-cold, which is normal, but the way he shakes most certainly is not.
“Where’s Vio?” he asks, eyes unfocused.
“He’ll be here in a second,” Zelda says, trying to keep her voice level. Clinical. Maybe she could help him, if only she knew what was going on…
“Shadow,” she asks, squeezing his hand. “What are you feeling?”
Shadow winces. “Bad.”
“Okay, stupid question, how are you feeling bad? Have you ever felt like this before?”
“Can we do anything?” asks Patricia the Hinox, who is promptly shushed by Aubrey.
“Never felt like this,” Shadow tells Zelda. “Never.”
“What hurts?”
“…Yes.”
“ Fuck me,” Zelda says, and Shadow uses his precious remaining energy to grin.
“Sorry, but I’m married.”
“Someone’s coming,” Robin says, and Zelda turns her head to see the Hinox pressing her ear to the first door. Vio and Green’s door.
“Open it,” Zelda commands sharply. “Get them here, now.”
Robin does as asked and Shadow cries out again.
“Describe it,” Zelda tries again, as she hears footsteps approach from behind. “Tell me something.”
“It’s like something’s… pressing… down on me. And if it presses much harder, I’ll—”
“Move.”
Vio’s voice is sharp and cold and Zelda doesn’t blame him one bit. She pulls herself to her feet, allowing Vio to take her place beside his husband. Green stands among the Hinoxes, holding Vio’s purple Four Sword along with his own.
“Here,” Tim says as he hands Green the blue Four Sword. “Keep that thing away from me.”
Green locks eyes with Zelda. “I am so confused.”
“I have no idea what happened,” Zelda tells both Green and Vio, her voice dripping with guilt and fear. “I don’t know how we can help, I tried—”
“It’s okay,” Green said, dropping the swords and enveloping Zelda in a hug. “You’ve done nothing wrong. This is all beyond messed up, but it’s staged. It’s some kind of game.”
“No,” Vio says, to himself more than Green. “No, this is different.”
“I thought the same,” Zelda agrees, allowing herself to be held. “He—”
Vio shushes her and shifts Shadow onto his lap. How much longer can he suffer like this? How much longer is he supposed to suffer like this?
Vio mutters something to Shadow, and Shadow mutters back.
“What are they saying?” Green asks Zelda, and she shakes her head. If this really is what she fears it may be, that is none of their business.
“Hey,” says a new voice, quiet but urgent nonetheless. Aubrey the Hinox points at the third door down the hall, still completely hinged. “What’s in there?”
“We don’t know,” Zelda tells them, and then turns to Green. “What was in your room? Ours was the evil root beer cellar, but different.”
“Fire Temple, but different.”
“That’s—what? The whole temple? Why do they have that in their basement?”
“Don’t worry about it.”
Zelda doesn’t think too hard on that, her mind busy elsewhere. “Those are both very… poetic locations,” she says, and Green nods. “What else would they keep down here, what else is important enough to—”
“I don’t know if this is helpful,” interrupts Patricia, “but part of our job was to protect the Dark Mirror. Two years ago, I guess? I’m still not perfectly clear on what’s going on. Do you think they could have brought it here, to the castle, along with everything else from the Fire Temple?”
Zelda’s heart stops.
That’s it.
Something pressing on Shadow’s life force, touching his very core, and threatening to shatter it completely?
“Blue’s in there,” Green says under his breath. “I mean, so is Red, but—”
“He doesn’t have his sword.”
“Do you still think… even with Red there… he’d...?”
“I don’t know.”
And she doesn’t. Zelda knows many things, always has, but right now she is clueless. She should have taken Blue’s rage more seriously, she shouldn’t have allowed him so close to Shadow and Vio, she shouldn’t have come up with this stupid dinner party idea in the first place.
Vio speaks in hushed tones, and Zelda aches for him.
Shadow doesn’t speak at all.
“I can’t break the door,” Tim tells Zelda, and she hadn’t even noticed him trying.
“It’s okay,” she tells him, and herself, even though it really isn’t.
Vio slams a fist on the ground.
Behind Blue and Red’s door, there is only silence.

Rewriting the Linked Universe Girl Scout AU
AKA a list of random stuff for it like headcannons and roles below the cut :) Its me rambling and oh boy is this not a complete list
They aren’t actually girl scouts, they’re Hylia Scouts, which is just a girl scout but with a different name. I used to be a girl scout and now I’m a nonbinary nightmare cryptid so it just be like that I guess.
Troup 4269! -Once belonged to Malon but she had to step away to work on her family's farm. Now run by Time, her husband. -Every troop member is a Link. Their alter egos are their nicknames and it generally works to varying levels of success. -Technically, Twilight isn't a Hylia Scout cause he's about 18 but he acts as an assistant troop leader and wrangler of the Links. His father is indeed, Time, and he is a good ol’ farm boy.
Link's who are convincing: -Wild (Long hair, commits to it, genderfluid already lol.) -Four (COMMITED, hair, his brothers legit just call him their sister and brother so at this point its anyone’s guess.) -Hyrule (They think that Hyrule was already a girl cause they only see Hyrule when he's with the troup.)
Variable success: -Legend (Fashion Icon. I feel like he can be so threatening that people wouldn’t question.) -Sky (bless his heart, his girlfriend tries to help. Either seen as a lesbian or Very Confused. If found out he plays the concerned elder brother.)
Absolutely No Success: -Warriors (Everyone knows he can do killer makeup and has a great fashion sense. They know its him. Theyre too intimidated to comment.) -Wind (Wind is too well known to not be recognized. His grandma sews patches for them though.)
-Hyrule was legit just homeless for a bit. He now live with Legend and Legend's uncle. No one knew it was him so everyone just assumes he's Hyrule and not actually Linkoln Faerchild. -Wind is friends with so many people cause he loves helping around town. -Half of it is hair cause that means more styles and seeming different. There's only so much clothing can do.
Troup 666 >:0 -The enemy of my enemy is my friend is their motto. -Its not a real troop, but they don’t let anyone know that. No one really questions it. Its a stupid haha that ended up as a serious side project Members: -Vaati (founder) -Octavio -Shadow -Dark (When he feels like it) -Skull Kid (No one's sure who he is but he's here and its just like that.)
Troup 1987 </3 Run by Caeran Gan, Kaerune On, and Quaryn Dorf.  -Members include a random assortment of angry and vindictive people that would be based on the dif kinds of monsters. (like malice! Adults have influence over kids they’re around.) -Head Hylia Scout is called Dark, he's trans but don't let the leaders know that. He's also just, not a good dude but he's getting better :D. Mostly cause his friends hate his troop. And we love a good character arc.
This was unironically mostly based around a dumbass group chat thing I wrote between Vaati, Octavio, Shadow, Dark, and Four and honestly I loved it so here I am.

Tears fo the Kingdom speculations
The last trailer hadn’t managed to make me as excited as this one. Not remotely close. The freedom this game promises seems incredible, and, what’s better, seems that will be kind of managed alongside a more relevant story.
1. Sidon being King? = things happening in hyrule?
In the past game it seemed that the story mostly revolved around descovering what had happened in the past which, given the fact that Link had lost his memories, kind of makes sense. But I’m all excited for the fact that it seems this game will have a story you progress with. What do I mean? Eventhough we can not be certain, I read someone that pointed out Sidon was wearing his father’s crown. As I rewatched the trailer, I tried to take notice of that, only to find out something even more interesting. In the firtst clip we see of him, while fighting alongside Link, he does not seem to be wearing it. However, in that last scene where Riju, Sidon and, presumably, Teba’s son are together (I don’t know his name in english), he does. That lead me to think that, maybe, it has something to do with an event that will occur during game. This may imply that maybe in this time we’ll see more stuff going on around us and the characters as the game progresses, something that was kind of lost in Breath of the Wild.
2. Hylia or Zelda
I can not decide who is meant to be the girl with the green eyes and the not-at-all-hylian traits. I’ve heard it may be a transformed Zelda. Is not crazy to think so as we can see on her neckalce a glowing gem that could very well be the one they pay special focus on, a few scenes back, on her hands. However there’s a part of me that thinks it just means that both Zelda and said character (could be Hylia as it has also been speculated) will play an important role and be connected somehow. Remember that Skyward Sword Zelda is meant to be the reincarnation of Hylia. Does someone know actually how much similar to you needs to be a reincarnation? Is it... mandatory? If it were, it could be a very good explanation on why they look alike.
This leads to another (and bigger) question:
3. Who is the one on the wall carvings?
Three figures pop into my mind. The green-eyed girl, the misterious one that speaks with Zelda, and that first creature. The size makes me think that figure speaking with zelda could be a choice (plus, they don’t show its face. Could it be for a reason?). Anyhow, the first creature we see shares undoubtedly some traits with the one of the carvings (Specially the eye on the forhead, the really long ears with a very similar decoration, and, maybe, the fact that seems the least human-like). But what about the blonde one? Is it Zelda? Is it Hylia? If it were her, is it ever Hylia the one in the carvings? Is it another deity? Is it even a deity?
4. More lively hyrule
In my opinion, one of the most exciting things about the trailer was that the people of Hyrule seem to be more involved. Not only we see Link carrying some of them in a carriage (he seems to have crafted, or at least fixed), but also we are presented two other important scenes: one were we see some hylians, along with a goron, a gerudo and Link, looking at somewere... But are they ready for something?. And, a second one, that features a buch of hylians on the field fighting against some bokoblins. Plus, Hyrule seems to be actually getting rebuilt.
5. What’s with Teba?
We see Riju, se see Sidon... but Teba is nowhere to be found (Nor Yunobo, but it’s something else what shocks me). Somehow, we see a little not-so-little orni that (I’ve searched for a picture to make sure) seems to be an older version of Teba’s son. (We can asume he has grown I guess). Does the absence of Yunobo and Teba, and the appearance of Teba’s son imply that not all “descendants” of the champions will have an important role? Or is it just that we haven’t seen all yet?
6. Companions?
It is said by a voice I have not recognised that Link won’t be alone. All this while showing a scene of Sidon and Link fighting in what seems to be the lands above. Are we facing the return of some kind of companion figure, but this time, it’s more than one? The fact that we also see Link in various scenes with Teba’s son makes me think of this “companions” as punctual companions, which is most likely, as we also see Link wondering most of his time alone.
We could also mention what seems to be the return of the dungeons (or some kind of similar type of mazes), the new items, abilities, attires...
NOTE: I have not seen any of the leaked content (nor I want to) so, if something here is wrong because of my lack of information, my apologies.
( apologize also for any kind of typo. Enlgish is not my mother tongue)

Okay I’ve tried organizing these thoughts and predictions, but it’s not going to happen in any sort of coherent fashion...so...unfortunately, here’s my thoughts on BotW2, now Tears of the Kingdom.
(Well actually, mostly my thoughts on BotW and how it may apply to TotK)
1. The Seven Heroines - these depict the Seven Sages, this isn’t speculation. Their bases say so directly, when taken from Gerudo script. This means the statue off to the north implies an eighth sage - and don’t you “but, Zelda” me, Zelda is one of seven, not the eighth.
Tumblr media
-additionally, the ring is clearly missing one, rather than it just being a weird extra statue (which the game makes pretty clear, tbh)
NOW THEN-
2. If you look at the first TotK trailer, in the first looks at Dehydrated Ganondorf, there’s the spike with the Ghost Hand, and then additional spikes around him. If you count the spikes around him and assume they’re symmetrical to account for shadows, there are seven (including Ghost Hand’s spike).
I took this as an implication that there were originally more spirits sealing him, but the Ghost Hand is just what’s left of the last one.
Unless there’s an eighth spike unseen, my guess is that this is where number eight fell out of grace.
Alternate Theory: There is a spike we couldn’t see, and Hand is Number Eight, for some reason erased from history.
3. Speaking of erasing history, let’s talk about the Zonai.
No - I’m serious.
So, throughout their lands, the Zonai have three major motifs. The Dragon (courage), the Owl (wisdom), and the Boar (power). The Dragon and Owl statues are in pretty good condition, accounting for their age, but the Boars are ruined.
My theory here is that the Zonai revered all the Aspects of the Triforce. The “Balanced Triforce”, basically - all sides even for the sake of the whole.
Then Power did what Power does in this game and threw the whole thing out of whack. Consequently, the Boar fell out of grace for their civilization.
This is the Ganondorf we see in the trailer:
(”But he was a Gerudo!” -Yes, there are two ways around this: 1. Even though viewed through a Zonai lens, the Aspects themselves weren’t necessarily Zonai, or, more likely - 2. He was what is identified in present-day BotW as Gerudo, which back then was more Gerudo-ancestor).
4. For present-day stuff: just to put a little bit of order (and speculation) to the trailer - when Zelda takes her little tumble and Link grabs her, she does the classic “falls anyway but takes his glove with her”. After this is when the hand abandons Operation Seal Ganondorf and rushes over to Link. The hand does *not* make Link drop her.
Couple thoughts on this:
A. The Hand, as the remnant of an ancient Sage, must protect Zelda - being the bloodline of Goddess Hylia, Zelda’s power is matrilineal, so she’s a Very Important Person
B. And/or the Hand, as the actual center of the sealing circle, *is* Zelda’s direct ancestor.
We know the hand does some time control jank. I think shortly after the trailer, it swoops Zelda to safety. She’ll be just fine and probably not even separated from Link for long.
5. Now, the gameplay loop is where I’m struggling. I’m not sure whether we’re actually going to be playing in the distant past, or a strange kind of “oops we’ve restored Hyrule to its flying phase” situation. The end of the first trailer suggests the latter, although the Hand clearly has some time control abilities. I think we’ll definitely explore the past somewhat, even if just in the form of the Hand giving us some history lessons.
Anyway, regardless of who made huge chunks of Hyrule go back to the sky, clearly this has unearthed a lot of old tech. Neat, I don’t have a lot to say about that, so back to...
6. Ganondorf! He actually explains a lot of BotW lore, I mean, of course Calamity Ganon keeps coming back - he’s still alive and projecting malice. This is a surprise to no one. But if he’s been underground since the Zonai era (the Hand is clearly Zonai), how is there any concept of him as a human?
Well...there isn’t, really. The only real in-world mentions of it are from Gerudo Town (to explain their cultural taboo against letting men into the city) and Sheikah tech. Sheikah being the inheritors of Zonai tech, and on that note...
7. I think the Zonai were probably the original Skyloftians or their immediate descendants, which later split into the various (at least humanoid) races of Hyrule. Why did everyone go their separate ways after Power’s betrayal? I think we’ll find out - it seems like that history will be a large part of the game, whether we play through it in-depth or just get an overview before being sent to deal with Ancient Ganondorf.
8. Lastly, it’s interesting to me that the Sages existed in the Zonai era, but not the BotW era. The Champions aren’t really it, being only five in number (with Zelda) -  but it may be a case where they would have been Sage-Candidates if Hyrule remembered their lore. Possibly they were just too weak without their full number.
9. This is pretty loose speculation, but Hand is either Zelda’s direct ancestor, or Eight. Given Skyward Sword and Hand’s place in the sealing circle, I’m leaning towards Zelda’s ancestor.
I wouldn’t be too shocked to see modern Sages in TotK, however I think we’ll see something of the Ancient Sages, even if only a la Twilight Princess. We’ll almost certainly get Eight’s story as well.
I have a lot more thoughts on this that I can’t really put to words right now, so feel free to ask questions/debate!

🖊 Post a snippet from a current WIP.
“The broken gasp of Wind taking a breath had Wild scooping Four into his arms, holding the beta to his chest as Twilight gently passed the small omega to his pack mate.
Wild held the two on either of his hips, his heart slowing as both tucked against him, rubbing their faces against his shoulder as they tried to scent him.
Twilight’s words fell deaf to Wild’s ears as he hurried his mates to his bedroll, gently setting them down and pulling them close.”
🏅 What is something you recently felt proud of in regard to your writing (finished a fic, actually planned for once, etc).
• I honestly haven’t done much writing recently

• Yes I do, I frequently use Havoscope for information
✨ Choose three adjectives to complement your own writing.
• Immersive, enthralling, heartwarming
💭 What is a headcanon you have about your own work?
• In my own personal ABO universe, the Goddess Hylia gifted Skyloft with fertility in both flora and fauna, so Skyloftians have to be very careful during heats/ruts because they carry pups easily
🍰 Name one of your fave comfort fics (doesn’t have to be your all time fave).
• “Just close your eyes and suck” a DreamNotNap fic on Ao3
👩‍🏭 If one of your fics was going to get you arrested, which one and why?

request: sometimes time likes to be alone underwater. with his iron boots and zora helmet, it's easy to just take a stroll at the bottom of a deep enough lake, away from the rest of the world. he did not expect, however, to find legend relaxing inside a small hole in the stone. Mer Legend.
Oh boy! I was vibing with this one for a while, I just wanted to make it perfect!
I'm pretty happy with what I made too, but man is it long!
(I hope this makes you happy, anon!)
When he and Malon have kids, he hopes they don't have this many.
Nayru knows he loves his boys, but they can get a bit much sometimes. They can get loud and overwhelming, and as a man who’s used to traveling primarily alone, with maybe a fairy trailing behind him or his trusted mount, it’s a bit overwhelming. He’s not used to being around people so much, Malon and Talon are his only consistent company and even then, the work they share means that often times it’s only him and his thoughts as he mucks, mends and tends things around the ranch.
Sometimes, when the boys get especially rowdy and playful, it’s just nice to get a moment of quiet to himself. Between Sky and Twilight he knows that nothing overly chaotic will go down, and he trusts the boys to keep each other in check.
So, when they come to the Pup’s Hyrule, their battle in this world over and most of their number restless as they wait for the next portal to arrive and whisk them away, Time allows his boys their space, and with a quick exchange with the only two he can trust to not burn something down (at least while the younger ones can still see them) he heads off into the forest to get a little space to himself.
Of course, he can’t really go far, not if he needs to hurry back, but he doesn’t really need to. His destination is Lake Hylia, which is only a short distance from their camp, maybe ten or fifteen minutes, and, when he gets there, he allows himself to actually breathe for once.
Wild, Warriors and Wind had been locked in a game of cards when last he left, the champion soundly beating the other two both at cribbage while Wars bemoans his poor luck, and Twilight and Sky were discussing wood carving with Hyrule, with the occasional comment from the smithy, who is only too happy to throw in something related every so often as he looks up from his book. That leaves himself and Legend, and he’s long since learned that the vet was one to disappear for his own space when possible.
He’s not overly worried. Legend has items and experience that far outmatch most of their group, and if he runs into trouble Time has little doubt that he’ll be able to get himself out of it to at least gather reinforcements, if not handle the issue by himself.
A deep breath of relief escapes him as the eldest of the heroes pulls a few items from his own bag. The boots are a familiar if not welcome weight as he slips out of his armor and dons the tunic and cap of the Zora, his breath bubbling softly as he steps into the lake before him with a contented sigh.
The cool water floods over the top of him, tugging at his hair and bubbling in his lungs, but it’s doesn’t burn the way that it should. He breathes easily beneath the rippling surface of Lake Hylia, the Zora tunic granting him freedom beneath the waves.
There is little sound beneath, only the muffled noise from above the surface, the flow of the water and-
Time’s ears prick forwards as a single blue eye turns to search the space around him.
Someone is singing.
It’s a haunting sort of melody, one that draws you in and makes you dazed, and Time finds himself stumbling over his own feet as he searches for the source. It is not a Cursed song, nor anything powerful from what he can recall, in fact, it’s almost familiar. It sounds similar to something he hears hummed about their camp at night while the boys take watch. He’d never been able to place which of the young heroes hummed the lilting melody, but he’s let it carry him off to sleep many a time before. Only this song, the one that twines about his head and whispers in his ears and makes his feet trek closer and closer to its source, this song is different, it’s haunted and Broken, and it is sung in a Voice.
Not a voice like most of those above the surface have, but a Voice like a fairy or spirit might have. One that pulls at your very soul and sings in your mind, un-hampered by wind or waves, able to carry across miles to be heard by those that it Sings too.
Heavy feet trod faster.
He’s under no spell, but he is a Link, and by now he has learned that all of their kind are blessed or cursed with courage and curiosity both, and to be without the latter is simply unthinkable for the young-at-heart hero. Something –the forest imp in him maybe- tells him to find the Voice, find the Singer.
He’s only made it part of the way across the lake, hasn’t even left the shoreline properly, when the song stops. Unease creeps over him as he looks around, alert and ready for trouble, only to see nothing but the peaceful stillness of the lake bottom around him.
There! His mind supplies as something pink flits in the corner of his vision, and he’s whipping around to come face to face with-
Long tangled hair drifts in the waves as glistening scales reflect the light pouring down through the waves. Too deep, too dark eyes stare at him in shock for a brief moment, and then-
The creature, the thing, is gone in an instant. Whipping away as it’s glimmer fades into the waves around him, speed no doubt granted by the brilliant tail of the thing sending it rocketing out of his grasp before he even has a chance to speak.
He tried to follow it. He does! But quite soon the adult part of his mind is reminding him how dangerous the thing could be, and that he still has his boys to return to back on the surface. It’s been exactly thirty-two minutes and thirteen seconds since he left them at their camp, and by now they usually would have sent someone to check and make sure that whatever member of their party had strayed off was alright.
Removing his boots is all it takes to float to the surface, despite the fact that he still holds the things in his hands, and it’s with no small amount of relief that he realizes that the bank of the lake is free of other heroes.
Time gathers his things together, wringing out his hair and clothes before returning to his normal gear and heading back to the camp.
Smiles and chuckles greet him as the young heroes tease.
“Go for a swim, Old Man?” Legend quirks a brow, staring up from his place by the fire.
Time doesn’t answer him, but he does shake his head violently enough to spray the younger heroes with water, earning shouts and shrieks from them as they try and shield themselves from the wet. “Seriously, Time?” Warriors moans, wiping lake water from his face. “What are you, a dog?”
Time smirks at the captain and, to everyone's surprise (which produces no small amount of delight for him), he barks.
“What sorts of people have you met in your adventures?” Sky asks a couple of days later, head cocked to the side as he watches his brothers. “You all talk about so many races, but I don’t think I've heard of most of them.”
“Well,” Wild smiles, there’s a glint in his gaze that isn’t quite mischief, but it’s a warning to be wary anyway, because they all know what a crack-pot their cook can be at times. “There’s Hylians, of course, and Sheikah, Yiga, Gerudo, Rito, Gorons, Zora and koroks! You’ve probably already met the Sheikah, since you mentioned knowing an Impa during your journey, and the Yiga are an offshoot of that group.”
Twilight blinks and stares, Warriors furrowing his brow as he two older heroes stare at the younger, but Wild seem entirely unaffected.
“Gerudo are a desert people. They’re really tall, and extremely strong! Most of their race have long red hair and slightly darker skin than the people around Hyrule. They are a society of all woman, with only one man being born to them every hundred years. They worship the goddess Din for the most part, and live out of an opulent city set in the desert where they specialize in the crafting of weapons and jewelry, and the farming of exotic plants.” The champion then proceeds to run down traits and knowledge about the other races, matter-of-factly, as if the details he is sharing are things that everyone from the surface knows.
“Wow.” Sky laughs as Wild finishes. “I had no idea.”
“There’s also the minish.” Four adds. “And the Wind Tribe, who are sky people, of course.”
Sky looks curious, but Four says nothing more, instead gesturing to the other heroes to share their thoughts, which they do.
“Terminans.” Time offers. “Very similar to Hylians.”
“Ordonians.” Twilight adds with a fond smile. No explanation is needed.
The others all nod along, but Legend rolls his eyes. “Humans, like, non-Hylian humans, Shifters,” The vet stares upwards with a light scowl as he ticks the races off of his fingers. “Technically they’re humans too, but Wild counted the Sheikah and Gerudo, so there’s also the Lorulians, Labrynninians, Holodrumese folks, Hytopians, Drablanders, Subrosians, Catalians-” Legend frowns. “I could swear there are more but I can’t really recall.”
Time, for whatever reason, he can’t really say why, cocks his head. “Any water people other than Zora?”
The vet snaps his fingers. “Mer-folk! Thank you, Time. I guess fae and animal folk count on that note.”
There’s a scoff and Warriors is leaning forwards with a smirk. “Fairies and animals, sure, but mer? Seriously, Legend? Have you even met a mer before?”
“Many times.” The veteran drawls, cocking a brow in the captain’s direction. “On multiple adventures. What about you, cap? Jealous you couldn’t snag one for your guild of brides?”
Warriors blusters about indignantly, earning laughter from the others as Legend smirks, but the man recovers quickly enough. “I do not have a guild of brides! That is- that is utterly disgusting!”
“Could have fooled me.” Legend teases, sipping some water from a flask.
“Give him a break.” Twilight snickers, shoving the vet playfully.
The unfortunate thing about Twilight’s shoves though is that the ranch hand doesn’t seem to know his own strength, and Legend is small enough that the light push is enough to send him scrabbling to not hit the ground. More laughter rings about their camp, but this time at the vet's expense, as Legend topples over into the dirt, spilling his drink and failing his arms as he goes.
“Yeah, yeah, laugh it up.” Legend huffs, pulling himself back up and dusts off his clothes, scowling at the water spilled on him. “Great.”
“Oh, come on, you came back soaked to the skin earlier, what’s a bit of water going to hurt you, huh, vet?” Warriors ribs, smirking.
Legend shoots him a half-hearted glare.
“Legend,” Time starts slowly. “How would you describe the mer?”
The vet pauses, gaze resting maybe a moment too long as his hands as he brushes off the hem of his tunic. He’s already done so and there’s really no reason for him to do it again, but he does anyway. “What you’d expect.” He shrugs haltingly. “Hylian on top, fish beneath. Tail, long hair, that sort of thing.”
The old man hums. Legends ears twitch, nose shivering slightly as violet eyes flit over their group. “Care to expand on your sky people story, Four?”
“I’m good.” The smithy replies lazily.
Time would pass it off as a strange one-time thing, he would, but there are... other factors at play.
They’ve traveled to Four’s time, fighting off monsters and solving puzzles the same as they’ve always done. The boys are taking some downtime, playing hide and seek, and just like the last time, Time takes himself down to the river they’ve made camp ear and dons his Zora gear.
He isn’t expecting to see the creature, the mer, again, much less hear them singing -after all, this is a Hyrule far before his Pup’s- but there the creature is. It- or they- frolic in the water, chasing fish and singing softly. The tune is lighter than the last one he heard, a different song entirely, but there is no denying that it is the same mer.
Gold flecked, petal pink scales shimmer beneath the twisted lights that invade the water, hair of the same colors flowing in the current as long fingers, tipped with pointed claws, reach out to swipe at the fish swimming wildly away. They don’t catch anything, but Time hears it giggle anyways, the tune of its voice bubbling in merriment as it rolls like and otter and turns to explore some other part of the river bed.
The cursed curiosity of a hero niggles in Time’s mind. How is the same mer from before in this timeline, ages before Twilight would even be born? And why do they play and explore as if they’ve never seen this river bed before in their life?
Long claws pull through sand, and although their hair blocks their face from his view, he can still hear the warble of delight as the creature removes something sparkling and bright from the river bed. The mer floats in place, turning the item over in their hands curiously before whisking it out of sight and returning to their search.
A mer that likes treasure, huh? Why is he unsurprised?
His own soft laugh startles them, and for a half of a moment, golden ringed, violet eyes, wide and bright and full of shock, meet his own.
The mer is gone before he can make a move.
He asks Legend about it the next day. As they travel along the path towards the nearest town, Time falls back to ask the vet more about mer.
“Do mer like treasure?”
Legend starts, eyes wide as they meet his own, and something in the back of his mind is nagging him that the look in the vet’s eyes is somehow familiar. “What?”
“Do mer like treasure?” He repeats himself.
Legend stares at him, blinking slowly as they continue along the path, but eventually the vet shakes his head and answers. “Depends on the mer. They’re people too, Time, they can have varying interests and hobbies. There is no standard for mer. None.”
“Don’t they all swim at least?”
Legend’s gaze is flat. “There are disabled Hylians aren’t there? Not all Hylians can walk, and not Mer can swim. Some just choose not to because they don’t like it!”
Time frowns. How does the vet know so much about mer culture? “How do you know this?”
The vet shrugs, eyes darting away. “I’ve been a lot of places and met a lot of people. Mer are no exception.”
“I thought you hated swimming and the water?” Wind breaks in, falling back to join the two of them with an odd look on his face. He looks like a puppy and it’s killing Time not to ruffle the kid’s hair.
“Didn’t always.” Legend returns, smiling wryly down at the sailor. “But enough of that. The real question here is if you’ve ever met one, sailor.”
“A mer?” Wind furrows his brow, looking away with a soft sigh. “The water in my world isn’t safe for the people who lived in it. There’s hardly even any fish in most places. The Zora in my time had to adapt to the air instead in order to survive.”
Awkward silence falls over them, the vet looking guilty for a half a moment before he settles a hand on the kid’s shoulder. “The goddesses aren’t always fair, Maliit, it’s not your fault.
Time hums his agreement, heart aching for yet another young hero and a world that suffered for Time’s failure to have properly saved it.
He sees the mer again. Not just when he’s in the water himself, but when he’s keeping watch during the night or on occasion when he goes fishing with Twilight. The Pup says nothing about seeing gold and pink beneath the water, but Time finds himself watching it all the same.
It darts beneath the dock they’re fishing on one time, and when Twilight’s line gets a tug, the rancher pulls it up only to find the one of his boots dangling from the other end.
Time can’t help it, he laughs.
So, this mer is a prankster, huh?
He takes to seeking them out, trying to catch their attention or try to talk to them, but nothing works. The minute that gold and violet eyes meet his own, petal pink scales flick deftly in the waves and the mer is swimming away.
But Time isn’t dumb.
He knows that the same mer cannot reasonably exist across all of time, not with all the changes that come to the world with each hero. He knows that this being is somehow following them, and h’s got a rather good idea exactly how it’s happening.
It’s a long shot, but he knows for a fact that Legend is always gone from camp before he sees the creature, and enough times startling the vet when asking about mer has taught him that the expressions between the two are the same. All he knows on the mer’s face is shock, but the vet’s eyes glimmer the same shade of violet, even if they are different in size and shape, and the petal pink hair that the vet comes out of the forest with one evening after their group was separated is uncannily similar to the shade of the mer.
They’ve made camp again, and rather than climbing into the water when he catches a moment alone, Time settles on the shore, not in the mood to be in the water but in need of its calming song. The air has been tense the past few days, and Time welcomes a brief moment to relax, forcing himself not to think of the gaping wound in his Pup’s side or the ragged breath that wheezes between the rancher’s lips.
Twilight will be fine, he reminds himself. Hyrule and Warriors had worked together to tend the wound and while it would definitely leave a scar, the danger of losing their beloved friend and brother (and maybe son?) is not so high anymore.
He welcomes a free breath, away from the hurt gazes of his boys as they try and process that their beloved canine friend and the rancher are one and the same. A chance to think without having to stop those who were out of the know from bombarding those who were in it with questions.
He’s glad to be free of the questions himself.
Legend seems to be too, if the glint of pink beneath the waves is to be believed.
He doesn’t approach this time, doesn’t try entering the water to speak. He’s tired and he wants his spae, and he imagines Legend would like his own too. So, instead, he sits on the bank, feet trailing in the water and ocarina on his lips as he plays softly.
The tune is a sweet one, one he’d written himself that lilts and dips softly, very nearly perfect for a dance, but far more suited to a night by a fire or watching the sunset. And sunset it is, fading light stretching out across the water, glinting of the surface and reflecting off of gold and pink-
He stops, eye wide as he turns towards the flash in his vision.
Gold and violet stare back at him, framed in curling pink as Legend freeze half-way through pulling on his tunic again.
Gold fades just as the scales dissapear and leave the vet siting on the shore, tunic still bunched around his shoudlers and violet eyes wide with fear as he regards his leader.
“I won’t tell.” Time forces, turning away his gaze and returning his focus to the instrument in his hand. He doesn’t play, but he doesn’t look up either.
“It’s an item.” Legend forces, strained. His voice is still tainted with whatever power had shifted him between forms, and it’s sweeter and more melodious than normal. “I found it on my third adventure. Got cursed.”
“Like the rancher?” Time hums softly, not having to look up to know that Legend is shifting nervously, foot tapping madly at the ground beneath him.
“Yeah.” Legend huffs.
“Okay.” And he does look up them, calm and as open as he can make himself seem as he meets the vet’s gaze.
“Just okay?” One brow cocks as Legend crosses his arms.
“Just okay. It’s your secret, Legend. I can’t change what I’ve seen, but I won’t tell the others either.”
Legend nods, wary bit willing to accept the words, if only for now. “If you say so.”
They’re on their way back to camp, Legend carrying an armload of fish and Time carrying both of their bags when the vet stops and glares at him. “I don’t want to hear any jokes, alright? I get enough of those from Twilight and Sky.”
“They know?” The old man tilts his head in question.
Legend flushes, ducking his head and setting off again at a speed some might label a scurry. “No. Hurry up, these fish are gonna rot!”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Waves lap around his head and it’s all Time can do to break the surface, coughing and hacking as he struggles to remain above the water.
The portal had come at the worst time ever, and no one had been ready to be dropped into the center of the ocean.
Lightning crackles overhead as waves swirl and crash about him. The ocean rages and Time is again reminded how small Hylian’s are in the face of Mother Earth herself.
“Boys!” The shout rasps from his throat as he spins to look about, praying to every deity he knows that he’ll find the rest of them safe and sound, or at the very least together. Never mind that Twilight still can’t walk, much less swim. Never mind the smithy’s shattered arm and Wild’s fear of the water. He can’t panic about those right now, he has to find them!
“Over here!” Sky’s voice answers him. The Chosen Hero clings to the shivering form of the smithy, both are soaked and trembling, but they’re managing to stay above the waves.
“My Hyrule!” Wind calls out as Time strikes out towards them, and the sailor continues once he’s close enough to see that at least five of his boys are safe. “We’re near land,” Wind nods in a random direction and Time wonders briefly how the sailor even knows that. “It could be a challenge in these waves, but we can make it. Have you seen the others?”
Hyrule looks up at him hopefully, the water-logged traveler fighting madly to stay above the water but succeeding despite the waves. Time reminds himself to help the boy learn to swim more effectively later, and more importantly how to properly tread water, but for now he focuses on answering Wind. “You're the firsts. We’ll have to hope the others are alright, getting y’all to safety is my first concern.
“But Wild!” Hyrule splutters, choking on some water as Time swims over to give the traveler someone to cling to. Freezing fingers latch ahold of his armor as teeth chatter, the waves are neither kind nor warm and with their health as it is he’s certain someone is going to end up with a cold when this is all over. “And Twilight! A-and Legend and Wars! They’re out there somewhere!”
“We have to hope Legend and Warriors can elp the other two. We can’t do them any good if we’re fighting to stay above ourselves.” He tries to same calm, but his own mind and heart scream with the same message that Hyrule’s voice does, and its all he can do to push it down.
Thunder rolls overhead and waves beneath as they push off towards the shore, each of the older heroes aiding a younger one as Wind guides them all towrads the supposed island.
Time hs never been so relieved to see sand in his life, and as Hyrule pulls himself up the bach and Wind helps Sky to settle Four, Time can only pray that he’ll find his way back again. “I’m going to look for the otehrs. Wind, stay and help Sky.” The sailor looks as if he wants to hesitate, but he knows better than anyone how a small body can be lost to the waves much easier than an adult. “Make a fire, warm up as best you can. Keep an eyes out. I’ll come back if- when I find the others.”
He stops only to shed his armor and don his Zora gear, but a single dive beneath the water is enough to tell him that it’s for naught. Wind wasn’t joking about his water being toxic, and a single breath of the stuff leaves Time heaving as soon as he breaks the surface.
His chances of finding the boys have lowered considerably.
Nayru above, don’t let anyone have sunk beneath!
Time swims for all he is worth, pushing past weariness as he battles each and every wave. And he’s just beginning to lose hope when he catches sight of something silver reflecting in the water as lighting flashes above.
“Time!”
Blue whips around to meet its twins as Warriors comes to swim beside him. “Have you found any of the others?”
“Wind, Sky, Hyrule and Four.” he breathes back. “You?”
The captian looks rueful but nods to his side. “Legend.”
Time can’t help but start as Legend’s eyes peek above the surface. Golden and violet are glassy in the pale ace of the vet, but they’re there and that means that Legend is alive.
“I’ve officially met my first mer.” Warriors sighs, but there’s worry in the captains voice and face both.
“Split up.” Legend’s voice rasps, and there none of the melodic song that Time is used to hearing from this form of the vet.
Legend is pale, far too pale.
“What’s-”
“Wind’s world.” Warriors tells him. “Water here is toxic.”
The water is toxic. The water, which mer have to breath to stay alive, is toxic.
Time’s gaze shoots to the vet but there’s only a flick of gold and pink as he disappears beneath the waves. Warriors groans.  “He keeps doing that! I swear, I have no way of knowing if he’s even still there, but he still insists on disappearing like the little shit he is.”
Usually, Time would scold his brother for such a tone, but he knows that Warriors is just sacred. He’s terrified, and it leaks into his voice and his actions, and the only way that the soldier knows how to hide the fear is by biting back with venom, not dissimilar to the vet’s own actions.
They swim together, searching and calling out for the two missing heroes. Hope is beginning to fade and Time can feel a gnawing fear eating away at his heart as he thinks of the gaping wound in his Pup’s side and the likelihood that Twilight would even be able to swim with it.
His pup’s chances aren’t high.
“Look!” Warriors shouts over the storm, jerking him from his thoughts as his eyes follow the captain’s pointing hand.
Pink bobs on the surface, backed by bedraggled and soaked black fur as Legend hauls Twilight’s limp form through the water.
“Pup!”
He’s taking the lad from Legend as soon as they’re in reach, and Legend seems to sag in relief as the weight is removed from his shoulder. “Was with Wild. Bring him to-” The vet wheezes and ducks beneath the water for a moment, coming up with a pained expression on his face. “Bring to shore. I’ll get Wild.” He gives them no time to respond, tail flicking as he disappears beneath the waves again.
Time and Warriors exchange a glance and head back to shore, supporting the weight of the rancher between them.
Wind and Sky have managed to get a virtual bonfire going on the shore, and the sailor has laid what blankets and bed-rolls he’s found of their equipment in front of it, allowing their dampened things to ry as he and the other three heroes bundle together for warmth.
It’s with a cheer that they al; greet Time and Warriors as the two emerge from the ocean, and Time can’t help but smile a bit in relief at seeing them all safe again. Only a little longer and Legend will be back with Wild, and then he can rest easy knowing they’re all out of the storm.
Rain still patters against already soaked skin and cloth, but with the fire flickering before them Time can’t bring himself to care over much.
Hyrule’s fingers shiver as they slide over the wound in Twilight’s side, cleansing it from the poisonous water that has soaked into the bandages, and while Twilight grits his teeth and winces, he’s at least conscious enough to do so, and that alone brings some peace to the others.
Warriors informs the others of the whereabouts of their two missing brothers, and Time helps to settle Twilight on one of the warming bedrolls. It made still be wet, but it’s better than getting sand in the pup’s wound.
They wait in tense silence, bundled together to share heat as nervous gazes watch the shore. Wind hasn’t stopped muttering under his breath and Four isn’t doing much better with his half formed sentences and steady murmurs.
It’s only when Wild’s golden hair can be seen on the shore that they all release a breath of air.
Cornflower blue is wide and glazed, likely from shock, but it doesn’t stop the champion from reaching back into the waves to pull out his companion.
Legend is a mess.
The veteran gasps and splutters for breath once he’s free, skin a sickly shade of white and eyes just as glazes as Wild's own as the two clings to each other, and when the two stand together Legend is leaning heavily against the shaking champion, and it’s only through sheer luck that Time and Sky get there in time to catch them before the duo collapses back into the waves.
Wild curls against Time’s chest, fingers shaking and eyes blank as the man carries him back to the fire. Legend doesn’t even stir, lying limp in Sky’s hold as the Skyloftian bustles back to join the other heroes.
Nothing is said about the glistening tail that fades into legs once Legend is warmed and dried, and even if anyone had dared the stern gaze of the first of their number would have been enough to silence them.
Violet blinks hazy and distant beneath the warmed fabric of Sky’s sailcloth, but they are all safe. They are all safe and they are alive.
“Thanks to Legend.” Wild whispers when he comes back, head resting against Times collar bone. “Without him I would have never got Twi back to shore.”
“Three cheers for the vet.” Wars forces a smile, and while the cheers are heartfelt and thankful, they do nothing to lighten the mood.
Legend doesn’t even seem to hear them.

yan loz universe in general: the chain, princesses, and hylia! It would suck for darling/player/(y/n) having the most famed/powerful people obsessed with them, but arguably the best option for the yanderes. Hylia? she gets her heroes and incarnations to her will and would “share” her darling with them. The princess get to share and vent frustrations about the former, but still have the ability to be very close to (y/n). The chain, begrudgingly, share (y/n) and now don’t necessarily to “hide” their tendencies since who would go against them? the heroes of hyrule, chosen by triforce, and have the support of the royal family. Only a fool (probably an incarnation of (y/n) — inspired by tethered a — but the yanderes would only be endeared because look they’re trying, and they’re bonding together! very mocking to darling, sometimes subconsciously and very purposeful *Hylia* ) This is great for zelink pairs since the hero & princess are meant to be together! and then there’s background npc (y/n) who is merely very good friends with them, as historians will say. Poly Yan Malon and Time would be a power couple that would strike fear, and Marin and Legend is a terrifying considering Marin’s more :) tendencies (telling Leg purposely hitting cuccos and gets beat up) Everything is fair for true love! (also hw! marin and the wind fish) Aurora and Dawn striked me as a troubling duo built out of insecurity— splitting the triforce and almost failing hyrule & getting cursed and losing her identity as “zelda” now only an ideal than actual person, respectively. They would both be needy yanderes. Dusk is an matyr and after midna (Twilight would like to know your location) , would probably take the hardest if (y/n) tried to leave. She’s already sacrificed so much, please don’t leave her. Lullaby is a confusing concept since in one timeline she remembers in short pieces, and in another she’s left alone to live in world where’s she’s both “Queen Zelda” and “Sage Zelda” and the remnants of “Sheik” (Y/n) would have one less yandere to worry about with Time gone, but now dealing with a traumatized Lullaby is not exactly gone either. In another timeline, Lullaby is troubled with the memories of life that has, but hasn’t happend and would definitely cling close to (y/n). It would suck if (y/n) remebered all the different timelines and outcomes, knowing that no matter what occurs they can never truly escape this hell. And sun! Sun who I hc as being her own, but getting possessed by Hylia, she’s a vessel and a shard of the original, and it would be a knife in the back if Darling doesn’t fully realize who she’s supposed to be. I have so many thought, and i will probably shared some more with you when my docs work better.
The thought of the most powerful people in the entire world, never mind the country, being yandere is both a terrifying and intriguing concept to grasp because fucking hell.
(Shameless plug in for my friend @yandere-linked-universe because they write yandere chain and they deserve the recognition for their amazing writing)
Imagine being a normal person, born to a regular family garnering the attention of a fucking celestial being and her chosen hero, being praised and worshipped by them but also unable to escape them because of their influence, and when you finally die, believing that this was your only escape you are fucking reincarnated by the sides of your captors. But hey, it can't be that bad, can it? They're not anything like your previous 'lovers'...right?
Wrong.
Why they don't hold the same influence or power, they most certainly aren't letting you go anywhere, especially trapped on this little floating hell paradise in the sky. So, you prepare to live out another life and die, then maybe, finally, you'll be free.
But of course, Demise has other plans and now look at you!
Stuck in a continuous cycle of living, being stripped of freedom then dying again because of 2 power beings are selfish pricks.
What fun.
The Chain getting a hold of the latest reincarnation would definitely be hectic. There's a lot of fighting in the beginning but they learn to cooperate....kinda.
Now imagining the Princesses is a bit more...messy.
Now if we're talking about the position of the Player-
They would be terrified. Their favourite game characters, people they idolised for their courage, their wisdom being deep-disturbed maniacs would have their anxiety soaring through the damn roof, trying to stay on the run from both the Chain, the Royal Family and that Bitch arse Shadow all at once while not knowing absolute shit about how to protect themselves during a medieval era. They basically can't trust anyone, even the damn fucking Goddess is out to get them. Falling in love with your favourite character is a blessing, having them obsess over you is concerning but them being completely and utterly insane Is just not it.
(Haha, not thinking about a Player au for this now...totally....ahaha)
As for the Tethered au?....Spoilers.
Also, YOU BETTER SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH ME I WANT YOUR PAPERS IN BY NEXT WEEK /hj
I HOPE THIS IS THE KIND OF RESPONSE YOU WANTED I WASN'T SURE HOW TO CREATE A FICLET FOR IT SO I JUST WANTED TO EXPAND ON YOUR IDEA-

honey whiskey ; chapter two
i bit the bullet y'all are getting an update today
chapter one is here!
relationships; sky & legend, four & legend, technically vio & legend
ao3 link; x
Legend woke up to the light shining in his eyes. Not a pleasant thing, really, but it is what it is. He swore the curtains had been closed, though.. Shifting to his side, he jumped a bit once he saw Sky sitting near the bed. “Sky?” what’s he doing here? “Ah! You’re awake..”Sky smiled gently. “How are you feeling?” “Um…fine? Why?” “Well…”Sky rubbed the back of his neck. “You decided to become a mini-me today. It’s pretty late in the afternoon. Time got me to sit with you cause we’re all worried about you sleeping in, cause you don’t usually do that, and it’s sort of worrying that you went to bed early and slept so late, and—”Sky cut himself off. “Sorry, I was rambling.” “It’s late?” That doesn’t seem good. Do we usually sleep that long? No…hylia, it’s been years since we last slept more than 2 hours. I, for one, am impressed we managed it. Myth, this usually means something is wrong.. You take all the fun outta things. Where’s the fun in oversleeping? technically we got a good amount of sleep. “Yeah. They got me up early to come see you.”Sky joked, lightly nudging Legend. His arm hit Legend’s side, where parts of the hero’s wings are hidden under his clothes. Ow— don’t wince don't wince don’t wince— Legend winced even though he tried his best not to. Maybe Sky didn’t notice? “Legend? Are you okay?” Of course he did…he pays a lot of attention to us. Too much attention, if you ask me. “Yeah, ‘m fine..” “Really? You seemed hurt when I touched your side—” “I’m fine Sky.” “Are you sure?” “Yeah, Sky.” Could he be more annoying? Be nice, Myth. Sky’s just worried! it’s nice that he cares.. Legend smiled faintly at Sky. “I wouldn’t lie to you.” “Promise?” “Promise.” This is…a new low for him. Lying to Sky of all people. Lying to Four is fine, voi is Legend’s best friend and will understand. But Sky… Sky’s too nice to lie to. But here he is. “Four was worried about you.”Sky hummed gently. “Voi was worried you have a hidden injury or something..” “I don’t.”Legend mumbled, sitting up with a stretch. His back popped. Motherfucker— Myth watch your language. “That sounded painful,”Sky noted quietly. “It’s just a side effect from adventuring for this long, Sky, I’m okay.” Sky gave Legend a look, before sighing and smiling. “Okay. Think you can get up though?” “Yup. Gimme some privacy so I can change, please?” “Oh! Of course, sorry.”Sky smiled. “I’ll wait outside!”He called as he left the room. Legend waited til Sky was gone, before he let out a heavy sigh. i hate lying We know… I wish we didn’t have to, but we do. We need to figure out how to mask the pain. Myth is right. Legend can’t wince when people touch his wings, or where his wings are. It’ll give it away that something’s wrong. He wishes he wasn’t like this. Lying is no fun, especially when he’s lying to people who trust him. Legend huffed, rubbing his eyes gently. Guilt is always the first strong emotion Legend feels after waking up. Never anything else—guilt comes first. It sucks, and Legend hates it. But he has a lot to be guilty over. Guilty over not protecting Fable, guilty over Koholint, guilty that he’s never home to help Ravio out— He’s the living embodiment of guilt. At this point, his middle name may as well be ‘guilt’. …it’d be a lot better than his actual middle names. Shaking his head, Legend tugged at the ties of his binder to tighten it back into, well, a binder, and pulled his red tunic over the black one. He still feels awful today. He’d honestly prefer to hide in the covers all day.. Dysphoria, maybe? seems like it. Hm.. We could try what Fable tells us to. Look in the mirror, convince ourselves that we’re the man we want to be? It’s worth a shot… we’ll look ridiculous if sky comes back in. It’s worth the embarrassment. Legend shook his head, yet sat down in front of the mirror anyways. He gets like this every so often. It sucks, and it always leaves him feeling sorta sick. He’s been called broken before. His uncle…never treated him differently. His uncle let him do what he wanted within the bounds of the law, and taught him that he should just be however he
thinks he should be. He never gave the whole ‘girls cant climb trees’, ‘girls have to be polite’, or ‘girls should behave and cook for the men in their lives’ lectures that everyone else did. He let Legend do whatever. It was great. Legend’s home as a kid was free from all the pressure the world put on him just because he was born in the wrong body. Even if he was a girl—men can and should cook, clean and be polite too! It’s total bullshit that people act like only women are capable of that. ravio’s an amazing cook.. i wanna go home. Ravio’s a really good cook! Here’s hoping Lorule didn’t have these shitty stereotypes. We could always ask him. i wanna go home i miss ravi’s cooking Legend snorted, he can almost hear the whining even in thought, silently picking at the scars on his leg. “Legend? Are you ready to go?”Sky called to him from outside the room. Gathering his thoughts, Legend got up and left after grabbing his things. “You okay?” “I hate stereotypes.” Sky raised an eyebrow as the two began to walk. “What?” “You heard me,”Legend pouted. “I hate stereotypes.” “O…kay?”He laughed, patting Legend’s shoulder. “Anyways. How are you feeling?” how am i feeling..? like shit. Legend chose to repeat that. “Ah.”Sky frowned. “Well, Four said voi wanted to talk to you before we start moving again. Vois in the library!” Legend nodded, watching Sky walk off before turning and heading to the library. Stepping into the building, Legend let out a quiet groan. Why did Four choose to be in a really big library? “Four? Where are ya, bud?”Legend spoke quietly, walking around a bit before he finally found Four. Fae is sitting on the floor with a pile of books, one open, faer purple-rimmed glasses slipping down their nose as fae looked up upon spotting Legend. Four waved him over, and Legend sat next to his friend. “You wanted me?” Violet eyes turned to him, and Legend shrunk in faer gaze. “You know I’m observant.”Four started, flipping the page of faer book. “Red noticed something was wrong with you yesterday. Now, I am not asking you to tell me what’s bothering you—that’s really none of my business.”A sigh of relief from the veteran, before Four continued. “However, I would like to tell you this. We are all worried about you, and if you ever need help, all you need to do is ask. It does not matter what day it is—all of us are available and wish to help you. You are our closest friend in the chain. We want nothing more than to help.” “I’m your closest friend in the chain..?” “Legend, you are the only member of the chain we have told about our…situation. Time discovered it on his own—but we told you about it. Of course you are.”Four cracked a faint smile, the cracks on faer cheek growing as fae did. It’s something Four—well, Vio—hadn’t explained outside of it being a curse. “Oh.” “I know I said I wasn’t going to ask, but…is there any way I can help you in this current moment of time?” Legend paused. is there? I don’t think so… “I’m not sure,”Legend admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. “Not without telling you what’s wrong which…I’m sorry I don’t—” “That’s alright.”Four assured, still smiling as fae pushed faer glasses back up. “But please, tell me if I can help in any way.” Legend nodded gently. “Okay..” “How do you feel about reading with me?”Four grinned, a crack opening up faer cheek. It was only then that Four stopped smiling, letting the crack fade. “Sorry.” “I think your curse is interesting, Vio.”Legend spoke suddenly. “...want me to tell you about it?” “I’d like that.” And the two sat there for hours, Four explaining what the curse did to Vio’s physical body—and Four’s, by extension.
