a drabble on the possibly most unlikely mother-daughter pair.
Just Andy taking little Dora for a casual little shopping spree at everyone‘s favorite magical book store.
I‘d imagine that, because of how Andromeda was raised, she forever remained rather poised and cautious. Whereas Dora, well, we all know she’s not at all cautious and rather daring and clumsy.

Tonks! isn’t she the coolest with her bubblegum pink hair? - what a cool character design.

Controversial opinion: I don’t like Tonks. 😱 IKR. I *want* to like her. On a superficial level she’s kinda cool. I just… it’s like she’s just not as cool as she should have been… like JKR didn’t really know how to write a cool character… 😬 Please don’t kill me.
In the words of Rainbow Dash: it needs to be about twenty percent cooler. 💀🖤

Life of the Party
Tumblr media
Pairing: Sirius Black x Fem!reader
Characters: Sirius Black, Fem!reader, James Potter, Lily Potter nee Evans, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Marlene McKinnon, Dorcas Meadows, Nymphadora Tonks (briefly mentioned), Harry Potter (briefly mentioned)
Warnings: Angst, this is random, during the first war, has bits of the sceond war involved, this probably doesn't track with the timeline, but certainly kept me entertained, not all information is accurate but that's to be expected, I had no idea where this was going, the last line makes me cry on the inside
Word Count: 2,601
A/N: Was I watching "Only Murders in the building" while writing this, giving it the murder mystery vibe, I feel it has? Maybe. No regrets though.
James took his time proposing
Voldemort slowly started getting stronger and then Peter joined him.
There are no known reactions to the bloodroot poison... I made up my own, hence the murder mystery vibe.
This is partially inspired by "Life of the Party" by Shawn Mendes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I’m telling you to take your shot, it might be scary.” You shrug, "maybe she's ready for you two to take the next step." You're just hoping that if you push him a little more, they can be even happier.
And maybe, James can finally shut up about wanting to have the same last name, whatever comes first.
James nods, taking in every word you’re saying.
“We don’t have the time to be sorry," you tell him.
The faint whispers of evil lurking around every corner are slowly becoming louder in your mind.
You hold your breath for a second.
“She’s right,” Marlene shrugs.
Dorcas shakes her head, not liking it when the two of you agree with one another.
The blonde shares a look with the girl closest to her. “Why doesn’t he just man up and ask her?”
The dark-haired woman shrugs, “I don’t know. You’re asking the wrong person.”
Sirius leans against you with his arm wrapped around your shoulder, "am I hearing that Prongs is going to be an idiot again? Still don't know how to pop the question, do you?"
James rolls his eyes. "Thank you," he says to you before running off. "Look at that, we're alone now."
“Are we invisible to you, you dolt?” Dorcas grabs Marlene’s wrist and hauls her out of your home.
“I think he's going to do it now.”
“He’s not.”
“You want to bet?”
The blonde nods, “I do. Ten pounds.”
“And a butter beer.”
Marlene scowls, “fine.”
They shake hands.
“You’re on.”
-
He sneaks around your home, making sure no one can see him. You shake your head. "Nice try, Sirius."
"What?" He pouts, following you after you brush him away from you.
"Don't push me away. I know you love me." He flutters his lashes as if that will further prove his case.
"I would love some peace and quiet. Besides, shouldn't you be checking on Remus right now? It's almost his time."
He sighs, "yeah. I just... wanted to see you before."
"Well, you did and now it's time to say goodbye."
"Fine, fine," he lets out a deep sigh, as if you've done something to him. "Promise me one thing?"
You stare into his eyes.
“You’ll tell me if you’ve been seeing things when I get back.”
You nod, gulping because you know what’s going to happen before then.
The corner of his lips curls upwards, thinking about being alone with you and hopefully asking you something he should have had a long time ago. "I'll be off now, little miss “life of the party”. I'll see you later?"
You rest your hands against the counter, preventing yourself from falling. You nod, "of course, Pads."
He smirks, shaking his head to rid him of his thoughts although he’s always fond when you call him by his nickname. "Alright, I'm off."
"Bye," you whisper, listening to his motorbike get farther from your home. You groan, raising one hand to your head. It's worse.
'The whispers get louder when the ticking stops.'
You want to forget it, but you can't.
His screams haunt you; you can't see his face, you don’t know who it is but it's more than enough to ruin your sleep, invading your mind at the most inconvenient times.
Your family's large grandfather clock chimes.
Nothing's going to work now, you know it. You don't know why you’re going in here but it’s the one place you believe to be in your best interest to reside in during this time.
You grab your wand from your boot and wave it.
The bookshelf moves out of the way.
A heavy breath escapes you.
No one but you know of your meek at home potions room. It's better this way, none of them will ask any questions or throw themselves into research.
By the time your clock chimes again, James and Lily will be the next future couple followed by a sweet little baby boy who will help carry on their family line.
Remus will be trying to finish his potion for the upcoming full moon.
Sirius will be the last of his siblings but not of his family's pureblood status.
And Peter-
“Come out tonight. Come out tonight,” you mutter, closing your eyes for a moment, waiting. "You found me."
"I never wanted this to happen."
"If you didn't want it to happen, you wouldn't have joined him. You wouldn’t have cowered into his grasp because you think he’s getting stronger."
"I- I'm sorry."
"Are you? Because I think you don’t have the time to be sorry. Or are you just saying that because of the bloodroot poison you put in my drink last week?"
Peter pauses in the doorway. "When did you know?"
"It's obvious when somethings not right with your body and you're stupid to think I wouldn't notice."
"You really want to fight with the person who could kill you?"
"You already have."
"It wasn't my choice."
"You didn't know whether you should have stayed on this side and when they found you, you chose to put that damned mark on your arm. You made a decision long ago. I'm just," you hold your breath, finding it hard to take a simple breath now. "Wondering what made you change?"
"Nothing," he mumbles.
"That's such a lie and you know it!"
His head snaps in your direction. "Everyone made me this way!"
You struggle to gulp down the saliva that filled your mouth.
"I was tired of being the joke of it all," he sniffs.
You don't know whether to feel bad for him or help him.
"I wanted the jokes to stop. I thought they would when we grew up, but they barely did."
"What jokes?" You whisper, now losing your voice.
"It doesn't matter now, what's done is done."
"Soon to be done. You're here to report to him that I'm dead, right?"
"N- no."
"You're distracting me, waiting until the end."
"Stop it."
"I hope you feel better."
"Better?"
"Thinking you chose the right side-" You take a step closer towards the table, your hand reaching out for it until you lose your balance and begin tumbling forward.
Peter reaches for you and holds you.
This is the last time he'll ever see you. And it hits him, what he's done to his friend.
There are no changing things now.
He adjusts you, cradling you in his arms as he sits behind you; the way a friend should comfort another one in need.
"Are you happy?"
He glances at you from the corner of his eye, staring at your side profile. "What?"
There's no more fight left in you and there's one thing you want someone to know, your last fighting words were something that will haunt your murderer. "Knowing you chose the wrong side."
"I-"
You close your eyes, not wanting your last sight to be of the secret you kept from your friends.
The grandfather clocks chimes once more and the whispers of his mind fill the silence.
Peter throws his head back, tears trickling down the sides of his face.
Nothing will ever be the same and no one will ever know what he's done.
Not until the end of the first war.
He carefully moves away from you and places you against the desk making it look as if you were sitting against the desk when you pass.
He kept it quiet of how you passed until the night he purposefully let Sirius take the blame for everything.
No one was able to truly move on after, most of all he and-
“She called herself the “life of the party” forever making a fool of herself,” he chuckles to himself.
"Pads, are you telling Harry the same story?"
The man in question turned around with his precious godson bundled in his arms. "No."
"Why lie when we all know it, Sirius?" Lily asks, holding her son's bottle as she tries to take the boy from him. "It's time for his bottle, Sirius."
"I can do it."
"No."
"Come on," he whines, with his bottom lip quivering.
It takes her back to every time when he would beg for your attention. She purses her lips, adjusting Harry in her arms. "It's almost nap time."
"Fine. James, sleep fort?"
"Of course, how else does one take a nap?"
She shakes her head at the two, knowing you would have something to say about it. "James."
"Coming, dear."
"I'll be here while you go help the man of the house."
"Hey."
Sirius raises his arms, "I'm kidding. I'm kidding."
He's left alone with his thoughts, something that's become more dangerous than before.
He thinks back to the story he was telling his godson, which was the night before your guys' seventh year when you decided to do some digging and found the bottle of fire whisky he had hidden, saving for a special occasion and ended up giving yourself a nickname.
You were so, so... drunk.
-
You smile and raise your hands, not at all careful to hide the bottle of fire whiskey. “It's time to be the life of the party.”
Everyone was confused as to why you did this, why you’d lost yourself.
"Someone needs to get her down from that table before she trips and breaks something," Lily hisses.
"We can use magic to heal her."
"Now is not the time to sass me, Sirius."
"Uh- nope, that one was me," Remus raises his hands.
"Someone please, help me get her down."
The three boys take a step forward at the same time.
"Come on, darling. It's time to come down."
You pout, holding the bottle close to your chest. "I don't wanna."
James snorts. "Can it, Prongs."
"I didn't say anything, Padfoot."
"Boys, please. Let's just get close to the table and then Pads can try and ease her down while we help?" The werewolf adds.
"Siri, come up and join me."
"Join you?"
"Become the life of the party with me."
“Sweetheart, I already am.” He holds his hand out for you to take. “Come and party with me down here.”
“No,” you tell him.
“Yes.”
“No.”
“Prongs, Moony,” he jerks his head to the side. “Over here.”
They follow, leaving the red head to deal with you.
“Alright, boys. Moons, you grab the bottle while Prongs my boy,” he smacks the bespectacled boy’s shoulder. “You distract, pull her in with that odd charm that drew your rosy, red head in.”
“I feel like I should be offended.”
Sirius raises a brow, “are you?”
“No.”
“Then you’re fine. Ready boys. On three.”
“Please don’t try to use sports analogies,” Remus interrupts.
“Rude.”
“Hey,” James calls out for you. “Look at me.”
This gives Remus enough time to remove the bottle from your hands and for Sirius to pull you down.
“What made you want to get up on a table?” He asked, holding you in his arms.
“I wanted to get away.”
He glances up, knowing you probably don’t want the others to hear. “Get away from what?”
“The images in my mind.”
“Do you-”
“She needs to have something other than that damned whiskey in her system. Bring her over to the couch,” Lily tells him.
-
He never knew what you saw before that night and didn’t ask when you didn’t remember anything that happened.
This was one of the first few sights that haunted his mind, followed by his best friend and his wife a year after.
That’s why when he saw you for the first time, he was going through so many emotions.
His voice calling out to you wasn’t out of the norm but seeing him when you turned around after the light taps on your shoulder was certainly a surprise.
Your eyes widen at the sight of him. “Sirius?”
He throws himself forward, almost squeezing you with his might. “It’s been too long, darling.”
Your hands shake as you fist handfuls of his shirt tightly, wrinkling his shirt in the process. “I- you,” you push him back. “You shouldn’t be here. You- you- Sirius you can’t be here,” you whisper.
“You shouldn’t be either but here we are. Just focus on this.” He cups your cheek.
“What?”
His thumb brushes across your cheek. “We’re together again.”
“You should be out there, living your life and- and teaching Harry so much more.”
“I am right where I need to be.” He smiles at you, staring into your eyes. “I’m back with you.”
You gulp, “you’re still an idiot.”
“No, I’m Sirius.”
You shake your head and pull him in for another hug… until an echoing voice causes you to furrow your brows.
“Pads! Pads!”
“Oh no,” you mumble.
“What?”
“Pads turn your stupid head around.”
“Who’s calling me stupid?”
You’re happy you let go of him when you did otherwise, you’d be on the ground with the two idiots you find yourself lucky enough to call friends.
“I didn’t want to interrupt the two of you.”
“I know,” you assure Lily. “It’s okay. I’m just happy to see you guys again.”
She wraps an arm around your shoulder, pulling you closer. “Me too.”
“Don’t forget about us,” Marlene calls out.
You two spin around, finding her and Dorcas running towards you guys.
“Took him long enough.”
“Marlene,” you hiss.
“What? I can’t pretend like you haven’t been depressed since that night. Everyone missed you and then when the first war came and we came here, you were so relieved that he wasn’t here but longing for him to come to you and you know it. You can’t hide it.”
You roll your eyes.
“So, you did miss me?” He says, staring up at you with a stargazed look in his eyes.
You turn away, avoiding his gaze. “No.”
“Someone’s lying, and it isn’t Sirius,” he says, attempting to egg you on.
“Come on, girls.”
“Wait- no.” He chases after you.
-
All of you stop, staring around the cemetery.
“What do we do now?”
“We wander around in true spirit fashion.”
“I vote we leave James behind,” you say, raising your hand.
“I second that vote,” Lily and Marlene add.
“Lily pad,” James gasps.
“Dorcas, come on. Don’t do this to me.”
“I’m with the side that doesn’t whine and complain.”
“But I’m nothing without whining and complaining. I was the only male here till Pads decided to join us.”
“I can see why they didn’t want you around.”
“Pads! I’m offended now!”
“Oh, well.” Sirius shrugs.
“You two haven’t changed a bit,” you comment. “It’s nice. I’ve missed seeing all of us being like this.”
“Like what?” Lily asks.
“Being young, not worried about a war coming our way.”
“I think we can all agree on that.”
“Did you all hear Moons has begun to pursue Tonks?” Sirius says.
“No."
"No way.”
-
You lead the others towards Diagon’s Alley, feeling a butter beer kind of night is something you all need.
“Don’t give her any fire whiskey. Otherwise, her “life of the party” personality will come out.” Marlene teases.
“That was one time,” you defend yourself.
“Lies,” Dorcas says, coughing into her hand.
“You all suck.” You pout.
Sirius leans in, “how’s it feel?”
“Don’t be like that, Sirius.”
“What? So, Sirius? I can’t, that’s who I am.”
“I hate you.”
“You love me.”
You stare into his eyes. ‘I missed you more than anything, Siri.’
“I do.”
His smile widens, “I knew it.”
You close your eyes, wanting this to fill the blocks you made in your memory.
Everyone needs a little happy scene they can think back to.

Haunted
Written for @remadoramicrofics day 1: haunted. 943 words. Read on AO3 here or read below.
The Shrieking Shack stood tall and imposing above them, leaning to the side against the fading autumnal light. Tonks had never been this close to the dilapidated structure, despite her teenage attempts, and she shivered in the brisk November wind, clutching her cloak around her chilly body.
It was hard to believe that only a decade ago, she was making bets with her Hufflepuff friends to see who could get closest to the Shack without getting scared. She’d won, of course, being the most fearless of them all. But even then, she remembered the way her pink hair flopped against the back of her neck, leading her to believe an unknown presence was around her, ready to snatch and entrench her within the decrepit walls of Scotland’s most haunted building.
A tree branch snapped and she gasped, releasing a puff of warm breath, condensing smoke-like and wispy. It vanished away, carried on the wind with a flurry of dead, browning leaves.
“Scared?”
“Not a chance, Lupin.”
He lifted a brow at her. “I don’t know why you wanted to see this place.”
“Call it insatiable curiosity.”
“Whatever you say,” Lupin replied drily. “Lead the way, Nymphadora.”
“Don’t call me that,” she growled, punching him lightly in the side. His eyes crinkled in that smug, amused way of his. He seemed to take a peculiar kind of pleasure in calling her that ridiculous name. Too irritated by the smirk and corresponding chuckle on his lips, she stomped into the Shack and started sneezing.
“Evanesco,” Lupin murmured. The layers of dust disappeared from the floor and walls. “Shall we go on?”
Tonks was ready to agree, until something black and winged flew out from one of the rafters.
“ACK!” she shrieked, reaching out for Lupin.
“Just a bat,” he said, his gaze locked on the space between them. Tonks let go of his hand, feeling suddenly shy at her overreaction.
“Sorry.”
Lupin flexed his fingers and shook his head.
“Don’t worry about it.”
Pink had invaded his cheeks and neck. Tonks gaped, having never seen him so flustered.
“Anyway,” Lupin cleared his throat, “shall we go on?”
As he led her throughout the rest of the Shack, Tonks noticed the way he kept his distance from her. He hadn’t been like that in weeks, not since the start of their friendship, when she’d learned he was a werewolf. Wondering if she’d done something wrong, Tonks tried to get closer, but Remus backed away from every attempt. By the time they stepped out of the Shack, his shoulders were tense, his jaw was clenched, and he was giving her terse replies.
“Well, thanks for the tour, I s’pose,” Tonks said, talking to his shoulder, as he decided not to look at her anymore. “Meeting’s still at eight?”
“It is.”
“And you’re free till then?”
“I am.”
“So am I.”
“Hmm.” Lupin had walked away. He stared up at a tree, examining a leafy branch.
“Er, Lupin?”
He raised the slightest brow at Tonks’s address.
“Since we’ve got the time . . . would you like to get a drink with me before the meeting? Maybe at The Three Broomsticks?”
Lupin rubbed the back of his neck. “I’m not sure that’s the best idea.”
“Why not?”
“I’m, er . . . ” The curious shade of pink returned to his face. He’d finally turned to meet her gaze. “I’m not exactly a welcome patron there.” He gestured lamely at the ramshackle Shack they just left behind. It took a few seconds too long for Tonks to realize what he was referring to.
“What about a Muggle pub?” she said hurriedly. “In London?”
A slight, wounded line appeared between Lupin’s brow. “I’m sorry, but I haven’t the money for drinks.”
“How about—”
“Tonks,” Lupin interrupted, strained, “I’m sorry. I’m not the kind of person you should want as a friend.”
“But you are my friend. Already.”
Lupin’s shoulders hunched over. He tucked his hands inside his pockets and grimaced. The wind whipped around him, blowing crispy brown leaves across his prematurely lined face.
Tonks reviewed the events of the last half hour; everything had been fine until she took his hand. He began acting strangely then and refused to let her anywhere near him. His easiness and humor had vanished, giving way to the standoffish, closed man he’d been when she’d discovered his deepest, most shameful secret.
“Remus,” said Tonks, getting his attention with the use of his given name, an idea forming on the tip of her tongue, “are you seeing anyone?”
Remus’s eyes flew wide open. He seemed almost too stunned to be embarrassed.
“Is that a yes?”
“No!” He replied, nearly too fast. “No, I’m not.”
“Well then . . . seeing as we’re friends and you’re not with anyone,” Tonks reasoned, “and neither of us has anywhere to be for a while . . . what’s stopping us from taking a walk around a park? Maybe Holland Park, which has the Japanese gardens?”
“Er—”
“It doesn’t cost anything to walk around the gardens and we’re already friends.”
Thinking quickly, Tonks closed the space between them and grabbed his arm. Though they were separated by layers of clothing, a little thrill came over her at being able to touch him again.
The tips of Remus’s ears turned red. Tonks fought the smile that threatened to overtake her face. She was becoming more sure of her hypothesis by the moment.
“Please?” She batted her eyelashes at him and offered her most indulgent, winning smile. “If you do, I’ll let you call me Nymphadora while we’re there.”
A shy, sweet smile finally played at Remus’s lips.
If she wasn’t mistaken, Tonks believed she’d discovered another one of his biggest secrets.

Day 06 of @remadoramicrofics - Sticky
Tonks squirmed on the bar stool. She and Remus had been posted at this muggle bar for the last three nights. She had managed to wear a different face every night, but she suspected the barman was starting to notice Remus. Tonight, she sat in the corner facing the rest of the tavern while he sat with his back to it, in hopes of curbing their recognition.
She slid her beer bottle in circles over the sticky table. “Why do you think they’re meeting here?” she asked.
Remus shrugged. “Perhaps they think they’re less likely to be recognized?”
“Yeah, but they have to do everything the muggle way – no apparating back home, no summoning their coats. They can’t even –”
“There’s nothing wrong with the muggle way, Nymphadora.”
“Do not call me that,” she said reflexively. “I’m not saying there’s something wrong with it, but come on, not even you could convince me that you prefer the muggle way.”
Remus shrugged. “For some things.”
Tonks started to laugh, but she noticed one of the men watching them had turned to his buddy and now they both were staring at them. “I think we should go.”
“What?”
“We’ve been made,” she said as she grabbed her cloak.
Remus calmly stood and threw some muggle bills on the table. “You’re certain?”
“Fairly.”
He merely nodded as he helped her into her coat. She slipped her arm through his as they headed out the door. Wet snowflakes had just started to fall and Tonks couldn’t stop herself from watching the way they settled in Remus’s hair and eyelashes.
“Don’t look back,” he whispered.
“I’m not,” she said in confusion.
He looked at her and caught her eye. “Oh, I thought, uh – you were…It doesn’t matter.”
Tonks felt her chest heat up – and not just from breathing in the chilled air – she rarely managed to throw him off. Usually, he had her stumbling over her words. She was so preoccupied with him, that she stumbled on one of the uneven cobblestones. He caught her, as he often did and helped right her.
That’s when she first heard the footsteps sloshing through the slush. Remus tried picking up the pace, but they kept time with them. “Oi, half-breed, stop!” one of them called.
Remus continued on, practically pulling Tonks alongside him. “We should have sent someone else with you,” he whispered.
“No, you made the most sense. We make a run in three…two…”
Suddenly, Tonks was jerked into an alley and rapidly spun around. By the time her feet hit solid, though softer, ground, her head was still spinning. “Sorry,” Remus said as he braced her with both hands on her arms.
“For?”
“Not warning you – there wasn't really time, but apperating without knowing can –”
“Where the bloody hell are we, Remus?”
“In Yorkshire…at my cottage.”
Tonks whipped around to look at him. “You don’t live at Grimmauld Place?”
“Not really, no; now that Sirius is out, I spend more time at Grimmauld Place, but... I live here – have for years.”
“Are you going to invite me in?” Tonks asked, pointedly looking at the plumes of smoke their breath made.
“Oh, um, yes, but you should know,” he said as pressed his wand to the door, “there’s no Floo connection and I do just about everything the muggle way. Including making tea, if you fancy a cup.”
“If you’re offering. We can draft up the report from here,” Tonks said as he led her into the quaint cottage. As he bustled about the kitchen that housed as much cookware as it did books and parchment, she decided that, if it meant she got to spend time with Remus, the muggle way wasn’t too bad.

Celestial Beings
Chapter Seven: New Faces
Characters: Reader, Molly Weasley, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Kreatcher, Alecto Carrow, Nymphadora Tonks, Ginny, Fred, George, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger
Summary: With the keen eye of Kreatcher an intruder is found, and all before an interesting breakfast.
Word Count: 2,819
Warnings: Cursing, Mentions of Torture, Use of a paralyzing spell
Reminders: @rainychaosmiracle
A/N: Hi guys, I meant to post a lil update the other day but completely spaced. I think I'll be moving my posting days to Sunday rather than Fridays, it's easier for me to keep up with.
Sirius called for Kreatcher as soon as (y/n) left his room. The house elf instantly appeared, rubbing his eyes, tired. He glared up at his master, very obviously displeased with being woken up.
“There’s a mirror on the floor down the hall, Kreatcher. I need you to put it in the off-limits room downstairs.” Sirius ordered.
“Whatever you say, Master Black.” Kreatcher snaps his fingers and vanishes, coming back nearly instantly. “There isn’t any mirror, sir.”
“What? I saw it, (y/n) even kicked it away from me.” Sirius looked puzzled, running a hand through his hair. “Check again Kreatcher, check the entire house for it.”
“Any old mirror, sir?” Kreatcher raised an eyebrow.
“No, small, hand-held. Possibly silver.” Sirius instructed. “Something you’ve not seen before.”
“Sirius, what if only (y/n) can see it, or make it seen?” Remus thought aloud.
“I’ll see what I can find,” Kreatcher muttered, vanishing once more.
“She was the only one that could hear it, she found it in a section of the hall not commonly used, she’s the one that moved it before you could touch it.” Remus scratched his head. “Sirius, if You-Know-Who knows she’s not being tortured anymore, that she’s at least partially cooperating, he won’t just be angry with her…”
“He’ll be enraged. And with the sight she has, he’ll do his best to drive her towards him somehow, but not without punishing her first.” Sirius sighed. “How are we supposed to fight against something neither of us can see?”
“That’s not entirely true though is it?” Remus plopped down into the old chair (y/n) had previously been sitting in. “You saw it when you were reaching for it.”
“Yeah, but I don’t remember seeing it after I got her to stand up.” the dark-haired man grabbed a bottle of fire whiskey out from his desk, sitting in the wooden chair. “Actually, the only time I saw the mirror was when she kicked it away.”
“Were you touching her?” Remus asked, stretching his legs out. “You told me you were trying to comfort her at first, so she could tell you what was wrong. How?”
“I hugged her, my hand was still on her shoulder when she kicked it away.” Sirius realized. “Of course, why would he trust what she told him about seeing the spells when he could just as easily see them himself by using her.”
“That’s why she’s important to him. But why would he want the Order to take her prisoner?” Remus scratched his chin. “We know Lucius is the one who tipped us off, we’ve never been able to find her before. So what did he need her gone for, or rather need her to be here for?”
“(Y/n) has been in a cell until yesterday.” Sirius was perplexed. “She could only see the barrier spells we had, so far that’s all she’s seen. What good could that do?” the men both sat in silence, trying to figure out what could possibly be the Dark Lord’s motive for letting his own daughter get kidnapped.
They both ended up falling asleep in their respective chairs, Sirius halfway flopped over onto the desk, the bottle of whiskey still in his hand. Remus had laid his head back against the wall, his mouth slightly agape, snoring softly. They were both awoken by Kreatcher’s return, making both men jump awake. Sirius knocked the whiskey over, spilling the remainder onto the floor.
“Damnit!” he grabbed a dirty towel and started soaking it up off the wooden floor. “What’d find Kreatcher?”
“No unknown hand-held mirrors, Master Black,” Kreatcher reported, holding up a small wriggling bag. “However I did find a pest. A small field mouse, quite far from home.”
“Animagus or mouse?” Remus asked, leaning forwards.
“Not certain. Found her hiding in a spot she shouldn’t have been able to get to though.” the house-elf handed Sirius the bag, backing away quickly. Sirius dumps the mouse out of the bag onto his hand, grasping it quickly.
“Homenum Revelio!” Remus casts, his wand pointed at the small creature. Suddenly a woman appears, growing out of Sirius’s hand and falling to the ground. “Petrificus Totalus!”
“Merlin’s beard! Is that, no it couldn’t be. Alecto Carrow, of course.” Sirius stood up, hoisting the angry-looking woman onto her feet. “Now, how about you explain what it is you’re doing here, in my house?”
“What do you think I’m doin, fucking blood traitor?” she sneers, glaring daggers at him.
“Sirius, perhaps we should get her downstairs?” Remus urges, looking at her nervously. “If, if a certain someone sees it could turn pretty badly.” he nods his head towards the wall against (y/n)‘s room.
“Kreatcher, take Ms. Carrow downstairs. Put her in the cell, make sure she can’t escape in any way.” Sirius barks at his house-elf.
“Sure thing, Master Black.” the house-elf grumbles, looking quite upset. He grabbed Alecto’s arm, vanishing quickly.
“I think it’s time we make up Molly, don’t you?” Remus says fixing his ruffled shirt.
“Better tell her she has someone else to make food for. What are we going to tell (y/n)?” Sirius asked. “We’ll have to, can’t exactly preach about honesty and doing the right thing if we can’t do it either.”
“We’ll just tell them the truth, Kreatcher caught an intruder.” Remus shrugged, opening the door and walking out into the hall. “We put them in the cell and will question them later, after they’ve had some time to stew.”
“So, you want to leave out the important parts, such as who it is and what they were most likely doing here?” Sirius rolled his eyes. “And people think I’m the sketchy one.”
“Don’t judge, she just still isn’t quite sure who she is yet. I don’t want her to feel pressured to make a choice too soon.” Remus explains, lowering his voice as they pass by (y/n)‘s room. “You should’ve seen them yesterday after they accidentally woke your mother’s portrait… she’s in a delicate place. And with what happened last night, she’s got more than enough to worry about.”
“You’re right.” Sirius gave in. “If Alecto is here, her brother probably isn’t far behind. We’ll have to eventually let her go if we don’t want the entirety of You-Know-Who’s army on us.”
“We can let her go later tonight, oblivate all her memories of Grimwald Place and leave her in the Forbidden Forest.” Remus suggests. “See what we can get from her first, which won’t be much.”
“Yeah, but anything is better than nothing,” Sirius says, heading up a flight of stairs and knocking on Molly Weasley’s door. After a few minutes of waiting she comes to the door, rubbing the crusties out of her eyes and yawning.
“Remus? Sirius? Is something wrong?” she asked.
“We have another guest in the basement, Alecto Carrow,” Sirius tells her. “Also, (y/n) had an ‘incident’ earlier tonight.”
“An incident?” Molly quirks an eyebrow. “What kind of incident? She didn’t let Carrow in did she?”
“No, no, not at all,” Remus assures her. “Rather when she was going to bed she heard whispers, followed them, and found a mirror with You-Know-Who staring directly at her.”
“You mean, he knows she’s not in the basement anymore?” Molly seems more alert. “Is she okay?”
“She isn’t, not that she’ll admit it to either us or herself right now.” Sirius sighs. “And we think that he might’ve been banking on that somehow, though we aren’t sure why.”
“What time is it?” Molly asks, pushing past the two men. “Tonks said she would be here by breakfast today. And with what you’ve just told me, we could use her help.”
“I’m not sure, three? Four maybe.” Remus guesses, lifting his watch up to check. “I was close, it’s a quarter to four in the morning.”
“Right well, I’ll head downstairs and start on breakfast for everyone. You two should go check the defenses. I’m assuming one of you has a plan for our friend in the basement?”
“We’re going to obliviate her tonight, drop her in the Forbidden Forest,” Sirius confirms for her. She nods, heading down the stairs, using her wand for light. Sirius looks at his friend. “I’ll check the top floors, you check the bottom?”
“Meet you in the dining room in an hour.” Remus heads down the stairs, his wand in hand.
(Y/n) headed down the stairs as soon as the sun hit the top of her door. She hadn’t slept much, at most she had an hour she believed. The dining room was mostly empty, only Ginny was sitting at the table, reading the newspaper aloud so her mother could hear. She gave (y/n) a small wave. Molly placed a basket of freshly made croissants on the table, giving (y/n) a sweet smile.
“I didn’t hear you come in, (y/n).” The older woman said, brushing her hands onto her apron. “Have a seat, everyone else should be down shortly. Oh, we also have another member of the Order joining us today.”
“She’s great, you’ll love her,” Ginny said, grabbing a croissant. “She’s a little strange though, at least most people seem to think so.”
“Okay.” (Y/n) sat down in the same place she had been the night before.
“You alright, dear?” Molly asked, looking worried. “If you’re not feeling up to it I can always bring you breakfast in bed.”
“I’m fine.” (Y/n) forced a tired smile onto her face. “Just not used to sleeping in an actual bed again is all.”
“Are you sure?” the older woman walked over to her, putting her hand on (y/n)‘s forehead. “You don’t have a fever… if you swear that you’re fine, you’re fine I guess.” she leans in close enough to whisper in the young woman’s ear. “Remus and Sirius told me about last night, just let me know if there is anything I can do, okay?”
“I promise, I’m fine.” (Y/n) avoided eye contact, her face reddening.
“Morning, Ginny. Molly.” Remus said entering the room, pausing when he saw (y/n) in her seat. “Morning (y/n), how’d you sleep?”
“Not used to the bed yet.” she lied smoothly, not looking at him directly. “Morning George, morning Fred,” she told the twins as they entered in behind Remus.
“Morning.” They said in unison.
“Is she here yet?” Fred asked his mother, a hopeful look on his face.
“Not yet, should be any minute though,” Molly told him, heading back towards the kitchen. “Ginny, would you mind helping me with the rest of breakfast?”
“Coming!” Ginny hopped out of her seat, handing her brothers the paper. Hermione and Ron walked in soon after, wishing everyone good morning as they took their own seats.
“Good morning Weasleys, morning Remus!” a woman with pink hair exclaimed as she entered, followed closely by Sirius. “A new face, you must be (y/n).” she held her hand out. “Name’s Nymphadora Tonks, but everyone just calls me Tonks.”
“Hi.” (Y/n) carefully shook her hand. “Uh, nice to meet you?”
“You sure put the “Mad” in Mad-Eye’s nickname, huh? Merlin, he wouldn’t stop complaining, hell he’s still complaining.” Tonks laughed. “And of course, I’m the one that has to listen to it all. Last time I apprentice under someone with the title “mad” in their nickname, huh? Just non-stop; “She won’t say a word, only laughs when I try to get information from her. I’ve been interrogating her for weeks, and still haven’t learned a thing! If i could just find some way to prove to her that it’s in her best interest to cooperate, oh I’ll be the happiest person alive!”
“Tonks, I don’t think this is an approp-” Remus starts, but Tonks waves him off, not listening.
“I tried to tell him, you know. You’re You-Know-Who’s kid, of course you aren’t gonna crack under torture.” Tonks munches on a croissant, leaning back in one of the seats. “I told him, you’re gonna have to get creative. Think outside of the box.”
(Y/n)‘s face must’ve given her thoughts away, Sirius putting his hand on her should as she abruptly stood up. Tonks’s smile fell and she pointed her wand at (y/n) defensively. (Y/n) pushed Sirius’s hand away, glaring at him and storming out of the room. Remus shot Tonk’s a glare, shaking his head at her.
“I tried to warn you, you don’t know what all Moody did to her down there. Hell, I doubt we know everything either.” Remus growled. Sirius chased after (y/n), following her into the hallway.
“Hey, I’m sorry about her. She doesn’t mean anything by it-” Sirius starts apologizing.
“Why does everyone always have to bring it up?” (Y/n) turns towards him, tears in her eyes, fists balled up. “Every time I’ve met someone after I graduated, it’s been brought up. No one ever can ignore the fact that he’s my father. As if I had a say in the matter!”
“(Y/n)…” Sirius says softly, looking at her carefully.
“And then gloating about how she was the one that pushed Moody to “get creative”? Just icing on the fucking cake.” she paced up and down the hall. “Even Lucius wouldn’t have gone as far as Moody did. Stealing memories from someone who can’t defend themself? It’s low, like something my father would think of low. And she’s laughing about it? To my face?”
“She doesn’t know. Not all of it at least.” Sirius tells her, stopping her in her tracks. “We haven’t had the chance to tell her yet. Didn’t want to risk anyone other than the Order finding out.”
“What?” she is taken aback, not sure what to say. Sirius steps towards her, closing the distance.
“Tonks doesn’t know about what Moody did. I doubt he even told her exactly what he did in his “interrogations”. She just doesn’t have the best of social skills.” Sirius explains. “She means well, truly, she just isn’t the best with expressing it.”
“Does that include pointing her wand at me?” (Y/n) spits back. “Or was that part of her charm too?”
“No, that was out of line.” Sirius agrees. “I’ll have a talk with her later about it.” They were both quiet for a moment. “C’mon, let’s go eat breakfast. Just let me know if you need a second okay?”
“Fine, but I’m not talking to her.” (Y/n) huffs, reluctantly heading back into the dining room. Everyone was quiet when she entered, Tonks was sitting at the farthest end of the table from(Y/n)‘s seat. Remus flashed (y/n) a small smile, pulling out her chair for her as Molly placed the last plate of food onto the table.
Breakfast was painstakingly slow, with very little chit-chat. Hermione and Ginny spoke in hushed tones, eyeing Tonks and (y/n) while talking. (Y/n) barely ate any food, mostly just moving it around on her plate. Sirius and Molly both tried to get a conversation going, to no avail. Tonks avoided looking anywhere near (y/n)‘s direction the entire time.
(Y/n) rushed out as soon as Molly grabbed the first of the dishes from the table, making her way up the stairs and to her room. She quickly shut the door and grabbed a book she had started reading, perching on the bench by the window. She ignored the knocks at her door, not wanting to face the reality that was on the other side of it. No one knew that she had heard them earlier this morning, talking about Alecto Carrow being the new guest in the basement, their plans to obliviate her memories of this place.
Knowledge at this point felt like the ultimate bane of her existence, a curse worse than anything her father could think of. She knew no one found the mirror last night, as it was currently sitting in her desk drawer, the bright purple glow seeping through the cracks. She didn’t remember putting it in there, let alone leaving her room to grab it. The whispering was muffled, still not quite making sense. She wasn’t sure how to get rid of it, every time she thought about it she felt like her head was going to explode, a pain like a red-hot fire poker directly behind her eyes.
The same pain happened when she thought about telling someone about the mirror and its location. She wanted to, desperately, she wanted to tell them everything but she couldn’t bring herself to do it. The pain was too immense and the guilt of lying to them was starting to become just as bad. She felt like she wasn’t worth all the trouble everyone was going through, trying to make her feel safe and not judged. What was the point if all she brought was problems and more lies?

TRANS HP RECLIST BY TRANS PEOPLE
With the collective effort of many wonderful people on the Magical Trans discord server, we created a trans Harry Potter reclist by trans people!
Any type of media, ships, ratings and HP characters were allowed, the restriction being that it had to include a trans main character!
Because there were so many great recommendations, the reclist is split in 3 parts – 2 of which are Drarry focused. Find part II (Drarry, Gen – Mature) and III (Drarry, Explicit) here: Part II, Part III
PART I – No Pairings, Rare Pairings, Snupin, Snarry, Wolfstar
COSPLAY
S.Q.U.A.D by @themischiefmanagers | TheMischiefManagers (Trans Teddy Lupin (and many more), Teddy Lupin/Victoire Weasley, Video Series on YouTube) What @samyistrying loved about it: The YouTube Channel TheMischiefManagers is like a goldmine! They made multiple Cosplay YouTube Video Series with different HP characters (the marauders era (wolfstar!), golden trio (drarry!), and more) and all of them are MASTERPIECES! S.Q.U.A.D. is their take on Queerness in the HP World. It's incredibly educational, funny, heartwarming and so so important! Oh, and freaking relatable! They did an incredible job in conveying such a complex topic in a nuanced and fun way. It's so great! Also, it's by queer/trans people about queer/trans people and that is FELT! They have since stopped making new videos but their channel will always be one of the greatest treasures within the fandom! Check it out! Summary: Follow Teddy Lupin and Vicky Weasley as they take on outdated traditions at Hogwarts and create their own (not so secret) rebellious group called SQUAD - Sourcerous Queers United Against Discrimination! Tags/Warnings: talk about transphobia, gender dysphoria, queerphobia
ART
“Is there a name you’d like me to call you?” by @upthehillart (Trans Harry Potter, Trans Remus Lupin, Digital Art) What @samyistrying loved about it: upthehillart has quite a few trans HP artworks (I could die for her NSFW ones) and she's obviously an iconic artist within the fandom, so what's not to love? I chose this particular artwork because it's such a wonderful and sweet moment between Harry & Remus and I'm probably not the only one who needed to hear (/read) Remus' words. (I might've teared up but don't tell anyone). I need to end this praise with a quote: "Never forget that there will always be people that accept us in our most truest.” (ugly crying again) Tags/Warnings: nothing, just wholesomeness

The relationships were rich and deep, and the feelings in this were both raw and immensely powerful. I related strongly to parts as a transmasculine nonbinary person, and the topic was covered honestly and thoroughly. Harry and Severus' characterizations were gorgeous, and the evolution of their relationship was stunning to watch. This is a must read for me. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Summary: Several years after defeating Voldemort, Junior Auror Harry Potter discovers himself and, at the risk of losing his childhood love, follows the truth. Through it all, Snape is an unexpected solace. Will he become more? Harry and Snape's gender identities don't feel like a Plot Point but just another part of their story, a small piece of the beautiful jigsaw puzzle that is this fic. Summary: In the summer of 1998, three wizards come to terms not only with still being alive, but with a new life-changing discovery: a soulmate mark. Shapeless, colourless, painless. Summary: Remus Lupin has more than one secret, and there’s no way of knowing who he can trust. All he has are his parents, but they can’t protect him when he goes off to Hogwarts. But then Remus meets a boy and his two other friends, and soon realises that some secrets can’t be kept forever. Love the conversation before sex with a trans person. Love how it’s not only falling in love but also making it happen!! Summary: Before him in all his glory was Sirius Black, queer jesus of the hipster poetry world with the long hair and sins to prove it. SNEAK PEEK!
Chapter 9 -- The One With the Red Lipstick Print
The sight made Harry smile and his chest ache in ways that he couldn’t explain.  He wished Sirius was here to see how big his kids were growing and he wished Zee was here.  She was supposed to be here and that suddenly made the ache worse.  He stood up, claiming he needed something from the kitchen, and then he took a moment to lean against the counter, closing his eyes.  It was only a moment before he heard someone behind him.
Tonks’ hand touched his back and he turned to give her a smile.  “I’m fine.”
Tonks lifted an eyebrow.  “Stop lying, Harry.”
He shrugged and rolled his shoulders.  “She should be here right now.  She should be here experiencing Christmas morning with her babies.  She deserves to bloody be here.”
“She does,” Tonks agreed.  “But she’s not here, Harry.  I know that hurts.  I know it’s eating at you and we both know that we’re doing everything possible to try to figure things out.”
“Borage and Slughorn’s theory is —”
“Unclear,” Tonks interrupted.  “Hope is a powerful emotion, Harry.  You know that and I know that.  I don’t want you to give up on it, but you also can’t cling to it.  No matter what happens, we will figure it out.  Together.”
He nodded and sighed when she flung herself into his arms for a tight hug.  “You’re really annoying, you know that?”
She laughed.  “You love me.”
“Only because I’m forced to.”
She smacked him in the arm and he laughed.
“I miss her, too.  She was one of my best friends.”
Harry hugged Tonks tighter, resting his chin on the top of her head.  “I know.”  He let out a slow breath before he let her go, his eyes meeting her grey ones.  “I haven’t said anything to them about it.”
“Good,” Tonks said.  “Let’s keep it that way.  As I said, hope is a powerful thing, Harry.  Until we know for sure, this is just for us.”
“And Ginny and Uncle Rem.”
“Obviously,” Tonks said, winking.  “But that’s a given.”
Harry moved to the ice box to get himself a tall glass of orange juice, pouring a second one for Tonks when she asked.  He took a long drink, letting the citrus linger on his tongue before he swallowed.  Tonks leaned against the counter next to him, sipping her own juice before she spoke.
“How’s Auden?”
Harry hesitated only a moment before he answered.  “He’s… fine.”
Tonks rolled her eyes.  “If you say ‘fine’ one more time, I’m telling Remus.”
He smirked.  “Oooh, scary.”
Tonks elbowed him and he grunted.  “Tell me, you jerk.”
“We’ve resorted to name calling now?”
“Harry!”
“Fine, fine,” he said, holding up his hands.  “And I’m not saying I’m fine, though I am, so stop giving me that face.  Auden is… it’s good.”
“You’re still going twice a week?”
“Yeah.  Sometimes more.”  At Tonks’ raised eyebrow, he cleared his throat.  “After Rex and I spoke to Slughorn about the potion, well, Ginny convinced me to see him again.  He made time for me.”
“He’s a good guy,” Tonks said.  “He’s good at what he does.”
Harry nodded.  “He’s… it’s good.”
Tonks smiled and elbowed him lightly.  “Look at you, being a grownup and talking about your feelings and stuff.”
“Piss off,” he said, making her laugh.
“Excuse me?”  she demanded, pointing to the rule board that was still on the kitchen wall.  “What does rule number three say?”
“As you said, I’m a grownup so rule number three doesn’t apply to me anymore,” Harry said, sticking his tongue out at her.
“Don’t wave that freaky tongue at me,” Tonks said, sticking her tongue out at him in turn just as Remus came into the kitchen.
“Ah, I see my favourite two mature humans are chatting.  How lovely.”
“Harry’s ignoring the rules,” Tonks said.  “He told me to piss off.”
“Tattletale,” Harry said.
Remus chuckled.  “I never thought it was possible for you two to become more immature as you aged.  Nymphadora, Harry can swear if he wants to, just not around Teddy.”
“Like you never swore around me,” Harry protested.
“What’s the rule, Harry?”
Harry snorted.  “Do as you say not as you do.  Hypocrite.”
Remus smiled and put his arm around Harry’s shoulders.  “Absolutely.  Now, are you okay?”
“Fine.”
He raised his eyebrow and Tonks moved to hug Harry from the other side.  “Can we talk about Harry’s overuse of the word ‘fine?’  It’s making me want to hug him.”
“Hmm,” Remus said, examining Harry for a long moment.  “You know if you need to talk, Harry, I’m always here for you.”
“I know,” Harry said.  “I’ve never doubted that.”
Remus kissed his forehead and then made a show of ruffling his hair while Tonks waved her wand behind Harry’s back.  Remus smiled and stepped back, his whisky eyes lit up in mischief.  “Much better.  Come on, let’s go back into the living room.”

Haunted
For @remadoramicrofics prompt of the same name
Halloween 1995
Walking carefully down the dimly lit hallway, Tonks managed to avoid both the umbrella stand and multiple snags in the carpet runner as she made her way towards the library. Only to be stopped cold by Sirius tossing a “fuck off, Moony!” over his shoulder as he stomped out of the room.
“What the fuck are you wearing?” he demanded when he noticed Tonks standing in the hallway. Pushing past without waiting for an answer he took the stairs to the second floor two at a time.
She turned to find Remus standing in the doorway of the library. “Tonks. Why are you here?” His question had none of the warmth she had come to expect from him during her ever-more-frequent visits to Grimmauld Place. That more than Sirius’ foul mood caused her to second-guess her surprise visit.
“I was on my way to a fancy dress party, and thought I’d stop by.” Tonks smoothed the front of her black leather skirt self-consciously. She allowed her morph to slip away, her own features replacing the stringy black hair, crooked nose and green skin. The pointed black hat remained on the floor where it had fallen when Sirius brushed past her. “I brought chocolate,” she added awkwardly.
Remus rubbed his forehead, and with obvious effort offered her a wan smile. “I’m sorry, it’s not a good time. This time of year …” He trailed off and Tonks had a sudden, sinking realization.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered. “It’s Halloween. I should have thought…. I never think.”
“You needn’t be, really,” and this time his smile was more genuine, if sad. “It was thoughtful of you to stop by. It’s just … Sirius is still haunted by that night. We both are, really,” he shrugged, indicating the half-empty glass of whiskey in his hand. “But you should go, have fun with your friends.”
There was a sadness in his eyes, beyond his normal careworn appearance. Tonks had a sudden vision of countless Halloween nights spent alone and grieving. At that moment her mind was made up.
“Nope. Not until you at least try the chocolate," she insisted. "I brought the good stuff, Honeydukes’ dark truffle. Should go well with the Ogden’s, I’d think.” She walked to the sideboard and helped herself to a generous drink, then pulled the bar of Honeydukes from her bag.
“You must have better things to do than spend your Halloween evening with a dour old werewolf," he tried.
“Old? Bullcrap,” she snorted. “Mad-Eye is old. You are ... distinguished,” she decided with a flourish of her glass, managing to slosh half the contents onto the rug.
His objection had seemed half-hearted to begin with, and now she was rewarded with a genuine smile. “Alright. Nymphadora.”
“And don’t call me Nymphadora.”
They spent the rest of the evening savoring the chocolate and whisky. She told him of trick-or-treating with her dad, one of the few outings she could enjoy with her muggle cousins since any change in her appearance could be explained away as a costume. Remus relaxed as the evening wore on, and even shared a few stories from his days at Hogwarts.
As they sipped the last glass of Ogden’s he became quiet again, staring into the fire. “I don’t remember much about those first few weeks after the attack. Apparently I went on quite the rampage, hunting Death Eaters. Mad-Eye stopped me. He probably saved my life. For the longest time I didn’t know whether or not to be grateful or furious.”
“And now?”
“Now,” he looked into her eyes and Tonks felt something shift. Something she realized she had wanted for some time. “Now I feel like I’ve been given a second chance.”

Sneak peak Tuesday. Plssss live for Sundays and Tuesdays lol.
I’ll only post a small one since you asked nicely. Originally, I wasn’t going to post one this week since reviews were down a lot this week. I didn’t want to give too many spoilers for those who didn’t get a chance to read yet.
So don’t forget to review!
Chapter Fourteen: Godric’s Manor
“Harry, this is my husband Ted,” Andromeda introduced them as Ted turned and held a hand out for Harry. “Ted, this is our newest nephew, Harry.”
Harry’s eyes flew to Sirius, a slight panicked look crossing his features. He was obviously unprepared for Andromeda to so casually introduce him as her nephew. Sirius shot him a thumbs up behind Andromeda’s back and mouthed, “Just go with it.”
“Great to meet you, Harry,” Ted said, encasing Harry’s hand with both of his as they shook. “Sirius and Andromeda have failed to stop talking about you, so you’ll excuse me if I already feel like I know everything there is to know about you,” Ted explained with a grin as he turned towards Andromeda. “Nephew, though, Andy? Wouldn’t he be a cousin?”
Andromeda waved him off. “Nymphadora always called Sirius her uncle when she was very little. It’s the age gap.”
Sirius nearly forgot about Dora always calling him her uncle. Not that she ever called him Uncle Sirius, it was always just Sirius, but she had definitely introduced him as her uncle to a few of her friends at the park when he would take her when she was younger. He never corrected her. He had rather enjoyed that she thought of him as an uncle back in the day.
"Ahh, that’s right, Dora did do that,” Ted said in a fond tone before turning his attention to Sirius. “Does she still do that?”
Sirius shook his head. “Nah, I’m just her cousin now.”
“I’ll have to have a word with her to start calling you Uncle Sirius,” Ted said with a twinkle in his eye.
Sirius grinned, his eyes flickering to Remus who had been quiet since entering the parlor. “Yeah, I think that’d be a wonderful idea. Hey, if she gets a boyfriend, he should probably call me Uncle Sirius too, right? I mean, showing some respect and all of that.”
Remus clenched his jaw, shaking his head at Sirius.
Andromeda rolled her eyes. “I know Nymphadora and Remus are dating.”
“What?” Remus spoke for the first time.
Judging by Harry, Ron, and Ginny’s expressions, they had not heard of the newest development either. Sirius just grinned, enjoying the show.

Ship Analysis: Remus & Tonks (Part 1)
Some time back when I’ve been writing a oneshot for Remus and Tonks, I thought about doing a quick analysis of their relationship. I finally found the time to do so – even though I don’t have the books with me right now (so I hope I remember everything correctly lmao). I don’t think I’ve ever done this but because this fandom is so big and they barely have any scenes together, I feel like canon, fanon and fan theories get confused a lot, so I thought it would be interesting (for me, at least) to just kinda look at what’s actually in the text and to try and interpret those parts.
Even though they don’t actually have that much content, I still split up the posts in two different ones, because I never know when to add read-more but also don’t want to disrupt anyone’s timeline with a long ass post. So the first post will cover OotP and HBP, the second one the last book and my final thoughts :)
Also, I basically already stated this before but just for clarification: when I mean ‘canon’ I’m talking about what’s actually in the books. All those extra information published outside of the books are just that: extra information, but not canon (for me, at least).
Order of the Phoenix
Tonks makes her first appearance during this book, and while her and Remus appear in several scenes together they hardly ever interact with one another. One of the few times they do is in the beginning of the book, when Remus introduces Tonks by her full name and she says her most recognizable line “Don’t call me Nymphadora”. The second one is a conversation they are having at Grimmauld Place, before Harry’s trial. They also carry Harry’s luggage together and get the kids back to Hogwarts after Christmas. It’s clear they don’t dislike each other, but there is not much more to their relationship. It could range from being mere colleagues to friends to even (secret) lovers.
I think it’s safe to say that their relationship wasn’t planned and most likely a last-minute decision as there would probably be more hints to the nature of said relationship otherwise. Which isn’t a bad thing btw, just an observation.
Half Blood Prince
Now, we get actually introduced to their relationship. Interestingly, they don’t interact with one another until the very end (actually interact less than they did in OotP, probably). Remus is on a mission, so we only see him appear a few times, and while we see Tonks more often, her character is written more like a red herring (that honestly wasn’t resolved/written that well imo).
Nonetheless, there are many hints towards their relationship throughout the book. When we meet Tonks for the first time here (and realize she isn’t doing too well, to put it lightly), she declines an invitation made by Molly, which also mentions Remus would be present, showing she has no interest in seeing him, at least not publically. Shortly afterwards, as the trio and Ginny discuss Tonks and her current state, Hermione talks about her suffering from survivors’ guilt and that apparently Remus has tried talking her out of it. How Hermione knows that remains a mystery but he was clearly mentioned on purpose here. However, there is no context on what that purpose was or when it happened. Perhaps it was simply made to show the reader that they are clearly close (prior to revealing how close), considering their relationship was not very defined during OotP.
Later on, we learn that Tonks’ Patronus has changed, which Snape teases her about. This was definitely written re: Tonks as a red herring, but I find it quite interesting that Snape (out of all people) knows what’s going on between them, so it's clearly not a secret. Obviously, we later learn that basically everyone in the Order knows, but I find it hard to believe that neither Ginny nor Hermione or even Ron know about it. Yeah, Harry is not very observant – though he does show quite an interest in Tonks throughout this book (for plot reasons, mainly) – but none of the others knowing feels a bit unlikely to me, tbh.
Anyways, at Christmas, Tonks is mentioned two times to Remus. One is by Harry re: her Patronus change, which Remus is clearly uncomfortable about. The other one is Molly, telling Remus (angrily) that Tonks declined her invitation. Two things I find interesting here: First, Tonks declined an invitation by Molly that involved Remus for a second time, showing that she’s probably been trying to avoid him. Second, Remus doesn’t really react to Molly’s ‘accusation’ but is uneasy around Harry’s question. Now, this is probably overanalyzing this lmao but I find it an odd choice writing wise to not have him react. Perhaps, he simply tries to block out Molly’s attempt to guilt trip him here (and is probably annoyed by it too, as I doubt that was the first time), but when Harry is mentioning the Patronus, he is essentially confronted with something that shows the genuineness of Tonks’ feelings for him.
Later, we meet Tonks in extreme distress at Hogwarts after she heard about a werewolf attack. Interestingly, she tried to reach Dumbledore (who wasn’t there), hinting that perhaps he has provided her with information about Remus’ whereabouts prior. It also shows how much Remus’ absence and mission are affecting her emotionally.
Eventually, we reach the hospital wing scene and their first interaction in this book. The scene reveals that Tonks’ character change had been due to Remus, because she was in love with him, but he rejected her. However, he did not reject her because he did not replicate her feelings, but because he was ‘too old’ (they have an around 10 years age gap), ‘too poor’ (he’s been unemployed for the majority of his life) and ‘too dangerous’ (he’s a werewolf). Tonks states that she does not care about any of this, and again seems in clear distress. Remus can’t look her in the eyes but everyone else seems to be on Tonks’ side (well, Arthur and McGonagall, as well as Molly, though not in this scene iirc). At the end of the book, they are shown to be together, as they are holding hands at Dumbeldore’s funeral, and Tonks has regained her metamorphic abilities. Both of those things – holding hands and Tonks regaining their powers – are obviously used to show they are in a relationship now without directly telling it, though it also hints at Tonks losing her powers due to Remus’ rejection.
So, there’s a bit to unpack here. First, Tonks’ emotional (and mental) state. She seems to be suffering from depression throughout the book, which can be seen through her change in personality, numbness as well as irritability. Hermione states in the beginning that she has been badly affected by Sirius’ death as she feels like she could’ve prevented it if she had won the fight against Bellatrix. She has a breakdown when she is unable to reach Remus after fearing he might be in danger, so his mission (and it’s danger as well as his absence, possibly) is affecting her emotionally as well. And last, we see her regain her metamorphic powers when Remus und her start dating, meaning that his rejection most likely fueled into all that as well.
What is also noticeable is that Tonks was clearly trying to avoid him, declining invitations by Molly on two different occasions. Why was never stated, though considering how she reacted when they were together in the hospital wing scene, perhaps she wanted to avoid any drama and/or knew how that might impact her (and everyone involved, considering guilt is often also a major part of depression) negatively. We do not know whether Remus was avoiding her too. He is on his mission throughout majority of the book. In the beginning, Hermione stated that he had tried talking to Tonks, but we obviously don’t know the context of it. The way Hermione talked about it means it probably happened after Tonks was already showing signs of depression, probably already losing her powers, but in what context of their relationship he tried to talk to her, we simply don’t know, so it could’ve been prior to him rejecting her. Later, at Christmas, after Molly said Tonks declined her invitation, she asks Remus if he talked to her recently, which he replied with by saying he had barely any contact to anyone. I think it is to some extent safe to assume that they have been avoiding each other, though Tonks perhaps more than Remus, and that they most likely have not talked to one another for almost a year.
Perhaps this could present one explanation on why Remus changed his mind in regards to dating Tonks. If he had rejected her several times throughout the year. Essentially, we see them argue and then the next time they are together they are holding hands, with no explanation whatsoever. If, however, he had rejected her and then they had not talked for months, that could explain why – now that he saw her again, and after probably missing her a lot – he would change his mind and start a relationship with her. The fact the he could not look her in the eyes adds onto that, as he probably had trouble pushing her away, and was most likely heartbroken (and possibly feeling guilty) at seeing her like this. A counter-argument here is however that Tonks states in the hospital scene that she has 'told him a million times' that she does not care about his arguments against the relationship. So they definitely had that discussion quite a few times before, though we do not know when.
Mainly I believe the reason he reconsidered was due to the war and Dumbledore’s death. The entire theme and setting for the rest of the book is basically ‘the calm before the storm’: They all know they are at war now, a war that is just getting started, and they won’t know who will survive and what will become of their world. Taking McGonagall’s words and their storyline in the last book into consideration, Remus probably just ignored his own doubts and worries for a moment because he realized they did not matter either way anymore (basically just said ‘fuck it, let’s do this’).

Thank you for the tags @artemisia-black and @merlins-sequined-hotpants!
The Nymph of House Black - Tonks travels back in time to the Marauder era. I loved writing this story so incredibly much. Snippet below:
Dora stood gingerly and saw herself in the mirror – it was the vision she’d seen for years. Mousy brown hair, pale complexion, heart-shaped face, and dark grey eyes. She was ready.
“What’s going on, Dora?” Tonks said. “You don’t look very good.”
“Nothing, Tonks,” Dora croaked. “Do you remember what I said about love?”
Tonks nodded slowly, still looking concerned.
“No matter what happens, please remember who you love. No matter how scared you are, love for me, okay? Just love everyone for me.”
(more under the cut)
Cariad - a postwar, Remus and Tonks survive story. It's entering a new stage with a calmer life for the Lupin family, but writing Remadora going through the real pains of marriage was so rewarding.
“This isn’t working, Remus,” Tonks said, wiping her nose with the cloth napkin in her hand. A strange buzzing, quite unlike the catchy music, filled his ears.
“What isn’t—”
“We aren’t working. I know you want the kids at the house but I just can’t live there anymore,” she said, her chin quivering against the multicolored party lights. “I don’t know what I’m going to do, but I can’t…this isn’t working.”
Remus felt as if his heart had been ripped out of his chest. Hope slipped in his arms, but he caught her, holding her tight to his chest, scrambling to hold onto something that would make sense of what Tonks was telling him.
Call Me Edward - Teddy goes back in time from 2009 to 1997. I put that little bean through so much.
“All I wanted to do was meet them,” Teddy said bitterly. “But they’re nothing like what I was told.”
“Well, people don’t always want to tell you the worst about your parents,” Harry said. “Especially if they’re not alive anymore.”
Teddy rubbed his toe against the worn Persian rug in the library, at a loss for words.
“I don’t know what it feels like to get your parents back, but I think you should talk to them. They definitely don’t hate you. People who hate you don’t send Patronuses to ask after you. They don’t worry about where you are or what you’re doing. They don’t talk about you at work, either.” Harry offered Teddy a small smile.
The Death of Teddy Lupin - an exploration into the afterlife through the eyes of Teddy.
“Where’s home?” Teddy asked, almost afraid of the answer.
“Where love ends,” Gran replied simply, putting her hand on his heart. “As long as there’s love to give, we’re not home yet.”
Teddy gaped at them, confused. “Won’t that take forever?”
Nymphadora and Remus smiled brighter than anyone else.
“The more time you spend here,” said Nymphadora, taking Teddy’s hand, “the more you’ll understand. Forever is all the time we need.”
On Her Terms - an Astoria piece focusing on her relationship with her mortality. This one's rather personal to me.
“I wanted you to be happy,” Astoria says calmly, rocking Scorpius to sleep. “Do keep your voice down. My son needs to sleep.”
“Does he know? Draco?”
“I told him this morning.”
Daphne gave Astoria a reproachful stare. “And?”
“He didn’t take it well.”
Daphne bursts into tears. “You’re my only sister. How could you do this to me?”
“I gave you the life you always wanted,” Astoria replies softly. “I’ve got the life I wanted too. It’s all right, Daph.”
I'll tag @messrmoonyy, @mumka-fanfic, @puppyduckster, @passionatewrites, and @annabtg!

Day 25 of @remadoramicrofics - Ina Dark Dark Wood
Nymphadora supposed, as she trudged towards Remus Lupin’s silhouette, that this was how moths felt as they fluttered about unattended candles. They couldn’t explain their draw to the sun, they could only follow it, no matter how ill-advised. She had spent the past few months being told to forget about her infatuation with the grumpy werewolf, that it was bad for her health, and, with him fleeing at every chance he got, she didn’t have any sound evidence to suggest the contrary.
“Are you done trying to kill yourself?” She asked as she reached him.
“Hm?” he asked as he stared at her.
“Well, you’ve rushed off to the werewolf camp and now you look like you're debating a swim. Just wondering if –”
“Dumbledore needed –”
“I don’t care, Remus,” she ground out, looking away from him.
“So you’ve said.”
He started to turn away, but Tonks caught his wrist. “Tell me you don’t feel the same, Remus, tell me you don’t love me and I won’t –”
“You know I can’t do that, Nymphadora,” he protested.
“Don’t call me –”
“And don’t you see how dangerous that is?”
“I’ve never –” she felt her anger flare and he cut her off again.
“Nymphadora, I need you to understand –”
She felt like there were a thousand bees buzzing in her ears and the anger swelled in her. More than that, was the sadness that flowered at the idea that Remus found his own love to be dangerous. She pressed up onto her toes and caught his robes, pulling him close as she crashed their lips together. Remus tensed, but his hands, maybe of their own accord, held her, one looping around her waist and the other resting on her shoulder.
As they parted, slightly out of breath, Remus stared down at her wide-eyed. “I-I– We can’t –”
“Yes, we can, Remus. There’s a damn war going on and you have the nerve to think you’re the most dangerous thing to me, an auror and an Order member.”
He swallowed thickly and Tonks waited, biting her tongue. “Let’s go for a walk,” he said eventually. Anyone else might have taken it for a rejection, but Tonks knew better. Remus was private, he wouldn’t want to get caught making out on school grounds, not after his unceremonious ousting.
“Alright,” she agreed as she slid her hand into his.
“Afraid of the Forest?” he asked as he led her along.
“Are you?”
He smirked, “No, I’m used to being the scariest thing on this campus.”
“Oh, that can’t be true,” she chided as they followed a path into the dark woods. The branches were so thick that it nearly pitch black.
“Have you ever been here?”
Tonks shook her head. She had never seen much need to venture past the edge, though Charlie had been sent out here with a group for detention once.
Remus nodded. “I had to come a couple of times with James and Sirius for detention.”
“Sirius did always say you were a trouble maker.”
Remus snorted, but didn’t refute the accusation. “It’s also where we spent a lot of transformations.”
“Where do you spend them, now?”
He looked her over for a moment before he sighed. “Recently? At the camp, with the others. Before that, at Grimmauld Place with Sirius.”
“Before that?” she pressed. She wanted him to know she was all in, furry little problem be damned.
“I own a cabin…in wales. It’s seen better days, but it suffices.”
“By yourself?” He nodded, leading her to the left of a y in the path. “I could –”
“No,” he said firmly.
She turned to him, her mouth twisted in a pout. “You don’t even know what I was going to say.”
He smiled knowingly at her. “You’re not coming to see the cabin and you’re not spending a transformation with me.”
“That’s not what I was going to say,” she told him as she pulled him along the path. “I was going to say I could take us to my place.”
He looked at her. “Nympha– Tonks, I don’t think –”
“Why? I’m not afraid of you and I make enough money that I don’t need any financial support from you, and I’m old enough to date whomever I please, so why won’t you really come?”
He sighed as if the act was particularly painful. “Everyone I’ve ever loved has died, Tonks, and I can’t subject you to the same –”
She scoffed. “Be serious, Remus, none of those deaths have been your fault. You weren’t the spy and Peter had everyone fooled, Bellatrix wasn’t going to let Sirius live, and no one could have known about Dumbledore.” Remus started to protest, but Tonks pressed on, “And one day, no matter how careful I am or you are or how much we try, I’ll die. Everyone does, you know, it’s inevitable. The important thing, the thing that makes death a little less painful, is making sure that you live while you have the chance. Because if you aren’t living, you’re just waiting for death. How long have you been waiting, Remus, and how much longer are you going to?”
He stared at her for a long moment before he crashed his lips to hers. Tonks’s hands immediately found their way into his hair and along the nape of his neck while his hands twisted in her robes and pulled her close. He drew back and she was about to protest when he whispered in her ear, “I love you, Nymphadora Tonks, and I have for a long time.”
“I love you, too, Remus Lupin,” she said into his neck, “Now please come home with me. Like, right now.” She felt, more than saw, him nod and quickly apparated them to her front door.

Celestial Beings
Chapter Eight: A Family Gift
Characters: Nymphadora Tonks, Kreatcher, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Reader
Summary: Kreatcher is a smart ass, Remus knows (y/n) is hiding something and confronts her.
Word Count: 3,328
Warnings: Pain mentions, torture mentions, curses, Fire mention
Reminders: @rainychaosmiracle
Remus had tried knocking on (y/n)‘s door, hoping to talk with her and make sure she was alright after breakfast, but she didn’t answer. After a few minutes of waiting he left, walking downstairs to the parlor room where Sirius and Tonks were waiting for him. He shot Tonks a dirty look when he walked in, taking a seat next to Sirius on the small couch.
“Is she okay?” Sirius asked, hoping that Remus got through to her. Remus just shrugged, looking toward the fire. “She didn’t even answer the door, did she?”
“No, she didn’t.” Remus sighed, rubbing his hands together. “Did you fill in Tonks on everything?”
“Not quite everything. I haven’t gotten to the part with the mirror yet.” Sirius explains, looking at Tonks. “Almost forgot to tell you the most recent bit, You-Know-Who was spotted by (y/n), in a mirror down the hall from our rooms. Oh and Alecto Carrow is in the cell downstairs, Kreatcher caught her in her animagi form.”
“In a mirror?” Tonks asked, her hair changing from a cool purple to a bright yellow. “How did she possibly find him in a mirror?”
“We were all heading to bed, Sirius had a head start of course.” Remus chuckled, his friend gently elbowing him in the ribs. “I left (y/n) at her door and went to my room. I should’ve waited until I heard her door shut, but I was tired. Sirius found her a few minutes later, down the hall.”
“She said she heard whispers and went to see what it was. When she looked into the mirror, he was in it, smiling at her. She was shaking really bad.” Sirius conjured a glass of brandy and took a sip. “Wouldn’t let me touch the mirror either.”
“Why?” Tonks inquired. “Did she not want you to destroy it?”
“She said she would.” Sirius shrugged. “We left it in the hall, but when Kreatcher went to go find it, it was gone. I had him search the entire house, that’s how he found Alecto.”
“How’d Alecto find this place?” Tonks grabbed the drink out of Sirius’s hand, taking a sip herself. “I mean, between everything Kreatcher has put up to hide this place, pre-existing security from your parents, and the spells the Order have placed, this should place should be nearly as safe as Hogwarts. Someone would’ve had to have tipped her off.”
“Why don’t we go ask her?” Remus smiles, getting up and heading to the basement. Tonks and Sirius followed closely behind, almost tripping into each other halfway down the stairs. “Can you two behave? I swear, the two of you together makes me age even faster than the lycanthropy.”
“Oh come on, Moony!” Sirius laughs. “We’re the black sheep of the family, we have to have at least some fun. Especially at your expense.”
“Besides, Carrow is gonna suck all the fun out of the room as soon as we speak to her.” Tonks rolls her eyes. “Where is she exactly?”
The three of them opened the cell, only to find an empty room. Carrow was gone. Sirius swore under his breath, calling for Kreatcher immediately.
“Did I not tell you to put her down here, and to make sure she couldn’t get out?” Sirius barked.
“You said to put her in the cell, I did. I also spelled it so she couldn’t escape.” Kreatcher grumbles, looking at the empty room. “You never told me I couldn’t let her out if she asked.”
“Kreatcher!” Sirius grabbed the glass fromTonks and threw it at the house-elf, enraged. “What did you do?”
“I followed your instructions, and then Carrow asked for a favor for the Dark Lord. Mistress Black told me to always help the Dark Lord if asked, so Kreatcher said yes.” the house-elf smiled thinking of his old master. “Carrow told me to take her to Knockturn Alley, keep it a secret until asked. Kreatcher always listens perfectly, Master Sirius. You just don’t know how to-”
“Kreatcher, you’ve put all of us in danger!” Sirius yelled. “You ignorant, pustular, little bag of bones! I thought it went without saying, you don’t do favors for people like Carrow. Better yet, only listen to me and whomever I tell you to!”
“Yes, sir. Kreatcher won’t make the same mistake again.” The elf chuckles as he disappears.
“I hate him,” Tonks says, breaking the shocked silence in the basement. “That is the most conniving house-elf I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting.”
“Well, I’d say it might be time to give Moody limited privileges of Grimwald Place,” Remus suggests. “Until we can find Carrow, probably her brother, and anyone else she could’ve told about this place.”
“Yeah, well who wants to have that conversation with (y/n)?” Sirius asks.
“No need.” (Y/n) said, standing on the bottom step of the stairs. “I heard you had Carrow in the basement this morning when you passed my room. The two of you can’t whisper worth shit.”
“We were going to tell you, we just didn’t know how…” Remus trails off, watching her walk toward the cell.
“His barriers are weaker than the ones I had.” (Y/n) told them, running her hand on the side of the doorway. “She would’ve just gotten out anyways, there’s a small hole in the back wall that Kreatcher missed. Might’ve taken her a while, but she would’ve found it.”
“That might be how she got in actually.” Sirius thought aloud. “We missed one small thing, one tiny detail and she found it. Still doesn’t explain how she knew where to find us in the first place but it does help.”
“Not to sound stupid, because I’m sure you’ve thought about it or have some reason why he wouldn’t know, but Pettigrew?” (Y/n) suggested, causing both men to freeze up. “He was friends with you for a while, right?”
“Yeah, but he never knew where I lived. Not that I know of.” Sirius says, trying to remember every detail of his youth, coming up mostly with terrible memories. “Except, when we were learning to apparate, I accidentally landed just outside, and he was helping me. He could’ve hoped to find something and sent Carrow this way.”
“You apparated here?” Remus asked. “You always said you were always perfect, made no mistakes while traveling.”
“I may have stretched the truth a teensy bit.” Sirius gives him a small smile. “But why send Carrow? Why not show up himself, he turns into a rat.”
“A rat with a solid gold paw might be a bit more suspicious than a random field mouse.” Tonks points out.
“Carrow is also one of the few people that actually listen to Pettigrew without my father around.” (Y/n) admits, trying to push through the barrier in the cell, watching as it cracked partly under the pressure. “She would’ve gone through this within the day, I’ve already cracked it and I’m not even using full force. In other words, the work upstairs is masterful, this is poorly made.”
“We spent over a week strengthening the ones upstairs, this was thrown together last second.” Remus defended. “Wait, you’re breaking it?”
“Well yeah, it isn’t hard. Just takes a little concentration on my part.” she shrugs, pushing the rest of the way through. “See? It also helps to find the weakest part of the spell too. The spells around Hogwarts are all the weakest at the direct top, and nearest the Black Lake. Although out of the two options, the Black Lake is scarier than open air.”
“There’re barrier spells around Hogwarts?” Tonks asks confused.
“Not exactly, mostly to keep intruders out, muggles and whatnot. Also, one to protect against apparition, which there’s a version of that surrounding this place too, didn’t show up until after the whole ordeal down here though.” (Y/n) explains. “But, yeah Hogwarts has a lot of protective spells. They have to be redone every few years otherwise they’ll fade away, lose their potency, all that.”
“Back to Carrow though, why specifically her? Why not her brother?” Remus closed the door to the cell once (y/n) exited.
“He isn’t an animagi.” (Y/n) tells him. “He’s not patient enough, or really smart enough to complete the ritual for it. Alecto is just insane enough that she pulled it off a few years back. She’s unregistered, surprise surprise.”
“How do you know all this?” Tonks looked at (y/n) in awe.
“I’m not exactly allowed to share my opinions at home, so I decided to get better at listening to people passing by. Dobby sometimes told me about stuff growing up. Of course, he wasn’t supposed to so he would punish himself for it.” (Y/n) told her, not looking at the colorful woman. “I’m more worried about what Alecto found while she was here. She wouldn’t have told Kreatcher to take her to Knockturn Alley unless she had something to go back with.”
“What if she was the one that left the mirror?” Sirius suggested. “We found her not too shortly after, and Kreatcher hasn’t been able to find it again.”
“I guess.” (Y/n) shrugged, her heartbeat speeding up with the mention of the mirror. Remus noticed this, his hearing picking up on the change in her pulse. “Well, if Carrow isn’t down here anymore I’ll go back to my room. I just needed a break from my book.”
“(Y/n), are you okay?” Remus asked as she turned to head up the steps, listening more intently to her heartbeat. It skipped again as she lied.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” she forced a smile onto her face as she answered. “You know where to find me if you need anything.”
Remus waited until she was gone, completely out of earshot. Sirius went to follow, but Remus stopped him, grabbing his elbow and shushing him. Tonks looked at the two men confused, still unsure of what just happened.
“She’s lying,” Remus whispered, just in case (y/n) wasn’t as far gone as he thought. “I’m not sure what about, but as soon as the mirror was mentioned she wasn’t telling the truth.”
“What would she be lying about?” Tonks asked, still not completely understanding.
(Y/n) found her way to her room quickly. She closed the door and headed over to the dresser, slowly opening the drawer with the mirror. She picked it up carefully, unwrapping it from the cloth she had hidden it in. This time the only thing staring back at her was her own reflection. She let out a sigh of relief, sitting down on the edge of her bed, holding the mirror. The electric purple aura surrounding it had dissipated, meaning whatever it was had either been undone or had moved elsewhere.
She wrapped the mirror back up and hid it again. Looking at her reflection as she closed the drawer, one end peaking out ever so slightly. Her eyes seemed off, but she couldn’t quite understand why. She looked into the mirror attached don her dresser, leaning in as close as she could get, trying to understand what was wrong with her eyes. She nearly screamed when she realized, her eyes had changed, a faint purple aura now coming out from them.
The knocking at the door made her jump, hitting her knee on the dresser. She hopped on one foot to the door, opening it up. Remus was at the door looking nervous. (Y/n) rubbed her at her hurt knee as she stood there.
“Did you need something?” she asked him after a few moments of silence had passed.
“I’m not really sure how to…I have a question to ask but I don’t know how to ask it.” He said, walking into her room, doing one quick look around.
“It’s about the mirror, isn’t it?” (Y/n) sighed shutting the door. She pointed at the dresser, not looking him in the eye. Remus opened the top drawer and pulled the mirror out, looking at her confused.
“Sirius said you didn’t want to go anywhere near it.” He held it up, his confusion turning into betrayal. “Did you lie to us?”
“No, not on purpose anyway.” she bit the inside of her cheek, trying to keep her emotions under control. “I didn’t even know it was in there, not until right before I went down for breakfast. I wanted to- to say something but every time I thought about it, my head…” she groaned, frustrated with herself.
“Your head?” He scoffed. “I’m accusing you of lying to us, and you’re bringing up your head?”
“Yes, Remus. My head. I can’t, couldn’t tell you anything because of my head.” she groaned, frustrated. “I’m trying to explain, but I can’t say it out loud. Hell, I can’t even think of it without…” she feels the sharp pain in her head.
“Just say it, (y/n)!” Remus shouted, slamming the mirror down on the dresser.
“I can’t!” she yelled back, the pain worsening. “I want to! I want to tell all of you everything! But I fucking can’t!”
“Why not?” he asks, still not fully listening to her. “Why can’t you? There’s no one stopping you other than yourself!”
“How can you be so smart and so dumb at the same time?” she asks him. “I am trying to, but I literally can’t!” Her head feels like it’s on fire now, the pain almost to the point of blinding. “God it hurts! This is worse than anything I’ve ever felt!”
“What are you talking about?” Remus finally realizes something is wrong. Her heartbeat isn’t showing any signs of lying, but it’s beating rapidly. “(Y/n), I don’t understand.”
“That’s the problem, isn’t it?” she half laughs, half cries. “And I can’t make you understand either! Just icing on the cake.” she grabs her head, stumbling slightly. “Just make it stop, please just make it stop!”
Remus looks back at the mirror and then at her, finally putting some of the pieces together. His eyes go wide and he sets aside his anger, quickly rushing toward her. He gently leads her to her bed, sitting her down on it. She’s sobbing, her hands both grasping her head, eyes tightly shut.
“I’m going to go get Sirius, okay?” Remus asks, not getting a response before he darts out of the room. He doesn’t even make it down the stairs, just starts yelling for his friend. “Sirius! Sirius! Something’s wrong! Hurry!”
(Y/n) doesn’t even notice that she’s moved, much less heard Remus. All she can notice is the pain, slowly making its way elsewhere in her body. It spreads from her head to her neck, and then once she feels like even breathing will kill her, it moves along her spine. She only notices someone else’s presence when they try to move her, causing her to scream in pain.
“What happened?” Sirius asked, gently setting her back down. “What’s wrong with her?”
“I-I don’t know!” Remus picked the mirror up from the dresser. “She had the mirror, I got angry and we were arguing. And then she was trying to tell me something, but she couldn’t say what it was exactly. Suddenly she just started begging for it to stop, whatever it is.”
“She had the mirror?” Sirius looked confused, grabbing it from Remus. There was a crack on it from how harshly Remus had slammed it before. “It’s not silver…”
“What does that matter? Sirius, look at her!” Remus shouted, watching as (y/n) curled more into herself.
“No, Remus you don’t get it. It’s not silver.” Sirius looked like he had just won a prize. “Whatever was on this, it must’ve made it look silver! But now, now it’s just bronze, not even a slightly silver tint. Whatever curse is hurting her has to be able to do that. And there aren’t a lot of spells like that!”
“So? She’s in pain now, Sirius.” Remus shoved the mirror from his friend’s grasp. “And she dealt with weeks of Cruciatous Curses. Whatever was on that mirror is now… oh damn. That’s what she was trying to say.”
“It moved from the mirror to her.” Sirius agreed, pulling out his wand and pointing it toward (y/n) “Finite Incantatem!” he shouted.
(Y/n) immediately felt less pain as she heard Sirius cast the spell. Though the pain persisted it had been dulled, instead of fire it felt more like very hot water being poured onto her. Much more manageable. She turned onto her side, keeping her eyes shut and covering her ears.
“Looks like it helped at least a little.” Sirius grabbed the mirror again. “We need to figure out exactly what curse this had. I can start checking the library, but you’ll probably find more if you talk to Moody.”
“Right, where is he right now?” Remus asked.
“You won’t find it anywhere.” (Y/n) said quietly. “My father probably made it.” The pain got stronger when she told them that.
“I’ll take your grimacing as a confirmation,” Remus said, noticing her tightening jaw. “Hypothetically, to get rid of the curse what would we do?”
“I’m afraid that’ll be on me to figure out.” She grimaced, slowly sitting up. “I can’t tell you anything, so you can’t help. It’s tailored specifically for me.” she groaned, feeling the pain growing again. “Can we talk about something else? Anything else?”
“Uh, how’s the book reading?” Sirius asks, eyeing the opened book by the window.
“Really? That’s what you’ve got?” she chuckles. “It’s reading books, not much can go wrong. Except for that one.”
“What’s wrong with that one?” Remus walked towards it.
“It’s incredibly dull. The second edition of ‘Divining the Great Beyond’ by Agatha Shortstring. Most of her instruction is basically the same five things.” (Y/n) rolls her eyes. “Meditation, tea, consultation, personal insight, and then discussion. She doesn’t seem to be very good at divination herself. She made three predictions at the beginning of the book that never came true.”
“Let’s see,” Sirius said, picking the book up and finding the predictions. He laughs as he reads them. “Number one; wizards will all die out by the 80s, leaving only great and powerful witches behind. All magic will be female.”
“Number two; muggles will embrace us with open arms after November of 1974,” Remus read aloud, a small smile on his face. “They will see us as friends forever more, allowing us to end world suffering in harmony.”
“Oh don’t forget the third one; there will be proof found of the existence of extraterrestrials by the time our world has 4 billion people, and they will choose a thousand people from each country to take with them to the stars.” (Y/n) recites. She feels the pain subsiding finally. She’s quiet for a moment, unsure of how to continue.
“Take your time, (y/n),” Sirius said, putting the book down. “But when you’re feeling better would you mind finding Remus and me downstairs? We have something to show you on the next floor.” he left, Remus, following behind, stopping at the door. He turned toward her, looking at her guiltily.
“I’m sorry I got so upset earlier. I try not to,” Remus started to apologize. “Anger isn’t one of my favorite emotions.”
“You don’t have to apologize, Remus.” (Y/n) offers him a small smile, but avoids eye contact. “I deserve worse than your anger. Besides, I know what you want to say. You don’t hide your thoughts very well, no one here does.”
Remus was taken aback at the new information. He wanted to say something else but couldn’t come up with anything. He left without saying goodbye, quietly shutting the door behind him. (Y/n) sighed, grabbing the comforter she was laying on and wrapping it around herself. She meant to shut her eyes only for a few minutes, but instead fell asleep, drifting into an unpleasant sea of nightmares.

@sapphicmicrofics | Prompt: Punch | Words: 169
Pairing: Delphini Lestrange/Nymphadora Tonks AU: They're the same age (Delphi was born during the first war and raised by Rodolphus, and Narcissa) AO3
Losing house points for punching Ismelda Murk in the face was so worth it. Professor McGonagall was going to write home about it — Ismelda and her parents demanded it - but that didn’t matter. Delphi knew that Rodolphus would be proud. He wouldn’t say that — Aunt Cissa would call it ‘irresponsible parenting’ if he did — but she knew he would be. And the points, or the detention, didn’t matter. Tonks’ cheer, when she’d hit Ismelda, mattered. Tonks’ praise of her right hook mattered, too, even though she’d added don’t do that again because Ismelda had been an exception, not a new habit. “Thanks,” Delphi said, proud and a little awkward, when they were finally alone. “Dad taught me how to throw a good punch.” Her explanation sounded like she was bragging. She kind of was. “Wicked,” Tonks laughed. “My dad would never .” Tonks smiled so beautifully that it made Delphi feel warm inside. She blushed. She also shifted close, and Tonks did too. “I could teach you if you want.”
