I am getting some disturbingly right wing posts appearing in my for you tab. Yes, I use the for you tab when I get bored, fucking sue me alright?

Anyway, not the point.

The point is that for this to be the case there would need to be a large uptick in those types of posts being made at all, because my following list hasn’t changed at all. Since it’s not that, and I doubt it’s my mutuals heralding this change because they all seem chill as fuck, that leaves an increase in those kinds of posts tricking the algorithm into believing this is popular and engaging content.

I’ve blocked several of these accounts, I’d recommend anyone else to do so too. Don’t feed the trolls, let them starve for attention until they go away.

Manufactured racial controversy alert 🙄:

“The Atlantic” used this photo in their article covering a Christian show about the life of Jesus. This photo was taken outdoors on a bright day and some of the actors skin looks a bit lighter because of the bright natural lighting.

However the cast of this show is more racially diverse than this picture above implies. The comments section was full of trolls and bots accusing POC of being white when they are not 🙄.

Here are some more accurate looking cast photos with better lighting that better shows their skin.

The show DID make a point to cast middle eastern and Jewish and Black actors. Many POC can be lighter skinned and it doesn’t change their race or make them “white”. 🙄

I work with several Egyptian people and yes some of them have lighter skin than others and that’s ok! Many people are mixed race and that doesn’t make them fully “white” 🙄 I have also met many lighter skinned Latin Americans and native Americans who would probably look like that under that sunlight.

The characters are supposed to be mostly Jewish and the Jewish community is very diverse and they don’t all have the same skin and that’s ok!

Don’t fall for trolls and bots trying to manufacture outrage and false divisions and controversy. Also don’t call people “white” when they are not!

Yes, racism and white washing are still a big problem in the television industry! Yes, racism is still a problem in the American evangelical church and in many Christian communities throughout history! I absolutely agree that many depictions of Jesus have been a bit “white washed”. I’m NOT here to excuse racism!

I just don’t think that applies to this show in particular in my opinion. This is one of the few portrayals of Jesus that isn’t white washed and some people can’t appreciate that because they are falling for fake outrage because of a bad picture.

It’s taking a LOT of self control for me to not feed the trolls and get into a comment section argument right now in this Atlantic article. 🙄

Imagine looking these Arabic and Semitic men in the face and saying “you are white because you sat in bright sunlight once”. 🙄

Hey, can you block someone that sent you an message anonymously? ‘Cause I got my first proper hate “ask”, and while I won’t engage I would really like to “save” them from having to see me posts since obviously they don’t know how to block.

Actually, it’s pretty great I went this many years before I got someone so childishly nasty. It amazes me they thought cruelly insulting my photos (which are just snapshots to me), sculpting (which is just me goofing around and not “art” despite how I tag them), and my appearance (I don’t even take selfies because I already know I’m ugly) would make a damn bit of difference about my posting. As if I don’t have enough trouble in life that I will spend time fretting about a flea.

Never mind. I took care of it.

Still, I don’t get why people say such things to people online. It’d ridiculously pathetic. You waste your time going through someone’s blog so you can say the most hurtful things you can think of with a “knowledgeable” sound, but instead of sounding superior to the person you are trying to bully, you are just sounding like a fool.

You just wasted precious moments if your life looking at things you claim to hate, just to try to be hurtful to a stranger! So I win!!! LOL

Obviously there were times in my life that this would had hurt more. Times when I actually had hopes I might be “good” at something or thought it was actually worth trying to be liked. I’ve got a life time of bullying calluses, but even now there are times it hurts.

Bullies like this can do a hell if a lot of damage to some folks, and I don’t want to minimize it. Bullying by strangers can be terrible, especially if you are young. So I can’t entirely laugh off the idiot assholes of the world.

Too bad Tumblr doesn’t have a category like sorta like “report” but instead “thug wannabe”. Or something. Obviously I don’t know a term for it, but something where you say the comment, message, etc was sent with a dishonesty and mean spiritedness, an attempt only to be cruel and bully. It gets recorded, but no action is taken at first, since maybe the person reporting it is the mean spirited one or simply over reacting to a disagreement. But if 20 (or whatever) people all say this person is sending these nasty messages Tumblr could look into it.

Or something. I dunno. But it seems like around a place so full of people that are emotionally fragile that these venomous little brats could have terrible effects, and that they can just go around using their words to “punch” strangers is ridiculous. If it happened in the real world they might get punched back, literally even!

I should pity the little cowards, getting their kicks pathetically trying to hurt people they don’t even know, too cowardly to do it any other way than anonymously, and with no way to know if they were even effective.

But naw, pity is more effort than they deserve. Sort of like this post. LOL

I don’t know about you but for me I have successfully avoided 100% of dumb tumblr arguments by reading through what the person responded to my post, rereading my original post, and asking myself “okay, did they actually read this?”

Because usually if it is something that irks me enough that I want to angrily respond the answer to that question is “no, they clearly did not read even halfway through the first sentence”

And THE THING IS. Once I get to that point I always reach the conclusion of. Ok. This person is clearly not worth engaging with! Because if they did not read the original post, they clearly are not looking for a discussion, they are usually picking an unrelated fight.

And because I do not like getting into fights with internet strangers who have already shown they do not care what I have to say, I just go on with my day! Content with the fact that I deprived an annoying person of a fight.

I think that many people could benefit from this lesson. If you see someone annoying in your notes ask yourself “did they actually read this” before you respond.

Don’t feed the trolls. You’ll be happier for it.

Every Friday I play a game called Comedy Night with my buddies and we host an open mic night. We play music, sing, joke around and just get wicked silly. But the fun of it really comes from getting together with a bunch of people who are amazingly talented and love what they do for a hobby.

Like this past session we got together and one of them sang parodies of country music songs all about grilled cheese, and he was singing really passionately too. But on the other hand, I’ve also heard this man who called himself Delicious Big Sweaty Feet perform the most beautiful cover of Grantchester Meadows and then end it with a loud belch. Then there’s a dude who got up and sang a whole song about a fat girl named Becky. It must’ve been a parody he just made up because I found the original song.

Then there’s the trolls. And when I say trolls, I mean they’re sometimes literal armies of them that come in to start mic spamming by screaming slurs down the mic until they get banned. But they’re almost always just bored 14 year olds who think they’re so edgy. They literally make their own comedy rooms (comedy and music are their own separate categories for rooms) to discuss their game plan during the summer.

I was a fly on the wall for that once and oh my god, the cringe was overwhelming. They spent 5 bucks on a game to just scream at people to kill themselves. If you’re gonna spend money on a game at least try to make the most out of it smh
