i'm suddenly thinking about rockstar!eddie shooting a music video on some naval ship and meeting actual sailor!steve who's all dressed up in his whites 'cause eddie's a big name star and the captain said everyone had to look their best and eddie immediately folding for the pretty guy in uniform
just: eddie wanting a couple of the guys to act in the video 'cause hopefully then they'd actually know what they're doing, and asking the capt to point out his most competent sailor. the capt immediately points out one of his low-ranking ensigns (like, brand new baby officer 'cause that's the kinda shit an officer would pull) and eddie, having been raised by wayne (who i'm hc-ing as a navy vet) knows better and is immediately like "No sir, I said your most competent, not your least. someone point me to THE second class. Where's he? I need an enlisted guy." and a higher-ranking chief that's been following the band around the ship all day bellows out a laugh and says "You're gonna want Harrington, Mr. Munson."
idk idk, it's niche but for some reason my mind went into the cold clammy depths of my time in the navy this morning and i was like 'NOPE! don't wanna dwell here, make it fun! make it about the blorbos so you dont get sad!!' lmao

was talking to a friend who hates musicals and had a moment where i suddenly understood why the majority of people who say they hate musicals probably hate them. she was saying how the songs take you out of the story because you're not really listening to the lyrics. and i was just so confused??????????????? because i always listen to the lyrics???? like okay sure i might not pick up on every word or line on a first listen but i'm definitely paying attention to them bc that's the story???????? like telling the story through music is what a musical is????? if you're only listening to the dialogue in between and mentally checking out when a song starts of course you won't like it you're missing 75% of the plot?????????????? and it was just one of those moments where i was like i know we all consume media and literature differently but jfc do we really consume media and literature differently

i would like to post a playlist on this fine aro awareness day
it was compiled from a mix of my own music and submissions from my friends and followers. the criteria to get on the playlist is:
-no mention of romance
-has lyrics (that are primarily in english)
-fandom-related songs are allowed but ONLY if they are fully understandable with no knowledge of the source material
-joke songs are *allowed* but kept to a bit of a minimum bc otherwise they'd both overtake the playlist
-^similar deal w multiple songs by the same artist
-"love songs" that are confirmed to actually be platonic/familial by the creator are allowed and encouraged
-songs about giving up on/denying romance will NOT be added because that counts as mentioning romance. UNLESS the artist themself is out as aro
song suggestions in the replies are encouraged BUT check the lyrics first bc a lot of people miss stuff and end up submitting songs w romantic verses. (also, submit individual songs, not artists). and if they fit the above criteria and i personally like them, i will add them (this may take a while if i get a ton of recs tho)
