This thought had been in my head before, and I didn't think about making a post about it till I saw a really dumb post I disagreed with.

Once again talking about Izuku having a crush on Ochako, while acting as if Izuku is an average shounen protag like all the others. Except for one thing...

While it can be stated that Izuku did at one point have a crush on Uraraka, and I'm not gonna dispute that, many have already pointed out how Izuku very quickly gets over it the more time he spends at U.A. And all of this is true, but there's one thing I haven't seen anyone point out yet and that's that all of Izuku's moments where we see him crushing on Ochako I treated like a gag.

There's a lot of moments from the earlier parts of the series so I didn't grab them all. But I'm gonna use some to make my case here.

this is literally the first panel where we see this happen, and right off it comes across less like a crush and more like...actually I don't know how to even describe that face...

But the point is that it doesn't really seem like the face of someone who's flustered (especially because we see Izuku get flustered at multiple other points and it looks nothing like this-), and he's barely blushing at all in this. The way that this scene is made, makes it seem like you're meant to treat this in jest. "Oh a teen boy having a crush on a girl, just a boy being a boy!" Yes. A boy being a boy. A teen boy who was previously bullied and ostracized by all his peers and who's only interaction with the opposite sex would have been his mom. I can't imagine why he's having this reaction. Anyways.

Okay now Izuku is flustered...but it's because of personal space? Not the girl in front of you? Huh. Okay. This happens again btw, during the first OVA (I think), where Uraraka in her excitement at being paired up with Izuku ends up in his personal space without consideration for his boundaries.

This continues on sparsely throughout random points in the story, until they just...stop. Completely. And this interesting, because every other time regarding IzuOcha specifically focuses on Uraraka and her feelings about Izuku. And it's never treated as a joke. Whereas with Izuku, you're meant to find it funny, but never highly important, or warranting you're full attention. It's just something that I find interesting, especially when you take into consideration how this parallels KiriMina and KamiJirou, and how for both boys and their feelings toward their respective love interests their feelings are treated again, with weight.

And like I said, Uraraka's emotions are treated seriously. We're given multiple moments to see her contemplate on this stuff. But never Izuku. Why? Because he's not important, it was always gonna be one-sided thing between them, imo I don't think, even if bkdk was never meant to be a thing, that Hori ever intended for this to be a deep, meaningful relationship between these two. That it was always never gonna happen. That's my two cents tho.

Not sure how to end this off, so yeah...if anyone wants to add anything or ask if I didn't explain something well enough lemme know cause I have no idea if I did 😅

Evolution of Forte: Fortification, if you will

First I thought he would be sort of like Glasses, quiet but candid, maybe not too extroverted but nevertheless diligent and gets work done. Just an average but decently competent guy.

Then I had the impression he would usually be chill, maybe a bit overly serious sometimes, but still straightforward and decently capable.

So I felt like he would look stoic with an average guy's dark haircut, sharp eyes, and probably bit of a permanent serious face.

Boy yo!!! What!!!? I fully did not expect him to be two block blonde and baby-faced and look like a character straight out of webtoon(!?)

Blunt he is regardless but the vibes? completely subvert my impression and expectation he's like a totally different person without hat or shades.

How much do you bet he wears his beanie and shades to look Big & Scary? cuz if I am met with a baby-faced two-block blonde headphone youth who is 200% squared up and declared ready to rumble with full lung capacity I cannot take it seriously. It's like you get stared down by somebody who emits less scary vibes than you.

My my, it's so funny pffhahaha… I don't mean it badly though, it has its charm, and Forte, DX, & Kusari-gama trio was also quite unexpected but I will talk about it next post.

Interesting distribution, particularly the one vote for "Duck River" which I'm not sure I should take seriously. I just had that option there for the sake of exhaustiveness.

For the record, I voted for "Kamogawa River". I believe it's the best translation for the following reasons:

It is a proper noun, and proper nouns should be transliterated as is. No one is calling Ohtani (the baseball player) "Bigvalley" because the name as it refers to the person is the important part - the literal etymological meaning is almost completely irrelevant. This eliminates "Duck River" as a viable choice and makes "Kamo River" questionable.

However, it could be argued that "Kamo" is the name of the river and "Gawa" is just saying that it's a river. I don't agree, but I can see how someone could argue for this case. I still don't think this makes "Kamo River" a good translation — if you hear native speakers say the word for that river, or if you ask for directions, you'll hear "kamogawa". If you only knew it as the "Kamo River" you might not be able to understand directions or signs, since the average street sign/Kyoto person on the street will probably not translate it as "Kamo River" themselves when giving directions. "Kamogawa" and "Kamogawa River" are kinda backwards compatible with both languages, with basically no drawbacks, making them the safer translations.

That leaves "Kamogawa" and "Kamogawa River" as viable choices. The advantage "Kamogawa" has is that it is less redundant. The advantage "Kamogawa River" has is that it is much clearer what it is referring to. I believe that being less redundant isn't actually much of an advantage, and I think clarity is huge, therefore Kamogawa River is the best choice imo. It seems like in general, people agree too!

So why do I think less redundancy is not much of an advantage? Well, how does it help the person reading the translation? It doesn't! It's the opposite - more redundancy (to a point) makes meaning clearer. And the purpose of translation is to get meaning across, so eliminating helpful redundancy is pointless at best and gatekeeping/linguistic purism at worst.

I've seen posts (and people irl) lamenting the fact that "chai tea" means "tea tea", and "Sahara Desert" means "desert desert". I don't believe this is a bad thing - it's simply that when a word is borrowed from another language, it's natural to describe it using existing words so people actually know what you're talking about. Also, while it's true that "chai" just means tea in many languages and "tea" also means tea (in english), "chai tea" in english certainly does not mean "tea tea". It means chai tea! It means a specific type of tea, with spices in! The phrase "chai tea" is now an English phrase which means something different to its original Hindi roots.

(btw, Google maps uses Kamo River - which inspired the poll in the first place)

Finland

Okay so obviously, yes, Finland is having a great esc year. But we should also keep in mind - Finland average place in the last 10 years is 25 (for comparison, Sweden's is 6). They didn't qualify for 4 of them. They were in the top 10 only one time out of these in 2021 with Dark Side.

Croatia

I've already talked about how this is Croatia's glow-up year. I really believe they have a good chance at reaching the top 10. This country average score in the last 10 years is 28 - i.e. - not qualifying. Which makes sense since they qualified only twice during this time with the highest score of 13 at 2017 with My Friend.

Israel

It's not really talked about since there's always this vibe that Israel is good at esc but even with their win at 2018 with Toy, they still didn't qualify 3 times in the last 10 years and even when they did it wasn't always in the higher rankings. This year they have a chance for the third top 10 placement in the last decade.

Serbia

Another country that it always feels like they are succeeding but in reality it's not always the case. Would you believe that last year was their 2ed time in the top 10 in the last 10 years? Not surprisingly their strongest act during this time was In Corpore Sano last year that took the 5th place. And may I even dare to say that I believe Luke can go even further and take the 4th.

Austria

Like Israel they still hold their winning from 2014 with Rise Like A Phoenix, but after 3 years in a row of not qualifying, it's not really like their head is up in the clouds. And yes I think Who The Hell Is Edgar? is straight out top 10 material that can give them the 3ed top 10 spot in the last 10 since that said win.

Btw - the reason Sweden is not here, although Loreen will probably win is that it's rare that Sweden are not having a good year, they are literally the best at it without any doubt whatsoever.

Cute but oh so forgettable. And I know most people don't see Azerbaijan as a strong esc country but - the last time they didn't qualify was in 2018, and that was the ONLY time that happened in the last 10 years. And I still remember Hold Me that got the 2ed place in 2013 and was such a GREAT entry. Better luck next year I guess?

Netherlands

I honestly don't think they will qualify. Sorry. And it's a bummer since the last time that happened was in 2015. Their song is cute and all but when looking at the others in that semi, I just don't see it happening.

Denmark

I seriously hate this song. It has some nice lyrics and this boy's androgynous look has something in it, but omg it's so fucking annoying to listen to. And I'm not the only one thinking that. After two years of not qualifying I expected them to want to do better? Idk, I still hold onto their 2013 winner Only Teardrops.

Poland

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this thing? I guess it's supposed to be empowering but is it really? She just looks and sings like any other bully from high school trying to "make it big" with every means necessary (did someone say curroption in the national selection?). It's annoying, her videoclip looks like she's trying to include horny men to get more votes somehow and it's the overall vibe is mechanic as hell. Like they told AI to make them a winning act and it wrote - take hot girl, add a feminist message, have her dancing, etc. Downright horrible. Won't qualify (luckily).

If you're trying to make some top 10 material why not take a look at Color Of Your Life from 2016? Just saying.

Episode 13: A little bit of my emotion

If we put aside what Erika was like in past episodes and look at her only in this one: much better, seriously.

But that's also a minus - I'm sorry, how quickly did you learn to use your powers so well? They tried to show that she was acting under stress, BUT. One: under stress you can't come up with new techniques, rather the adrenaline makes you stronger and speed up what you already know and know how to do, no? Two: some of her techniques she did in +- average condition, like knocking out the guard before letting him out of the cell.

Yeah, the whole "templars forgot to close the door" thing is annoying. The plot shouldn't help the heroes achieve their goals like that.

Lance and Nevra: "we felt something wrong, ran to the basement and ran into people who tried to knock us out with tranquilizers again". So how did you defend yourself this time? Okay, I'm too meticulous, they could have just acted really fast. But mhhhhhm.

Lance on the poster is fucking awesome. Yeah, the tail is weirdly drawn, but BLYAT. He's beautiful. I want to marry him now, and have him under the altar in that form.

I thought long and hard about Nevra's decision to leave him - I criticized him, then I was sympathetic. Still, Lance was right: it was a hard decision, and not everyone could make it, with cold reason. That's why not everyone is a commander. They really should have sent all those poor creatures back home first, prepared themselves, and come back for Lei in full force. Which, btw, they did right away.

How tough is Lance that he endured a bunch of shots to his wings, and none went further, into his body or Erika's body?

Nevra grabbed Erika's ass in episode 12. Lance grabbed Erika's ass in episode 13. Lei, Mathieu, that leaves you.

Nevra was cool the whole episode, and especially in the conversation with Erika's father at the portal. Don't even try to change my mind.

I'm still sympathetic to Lei's fans.

MAN. I JUST WROTE OUT A LONG ASS ANSWER TO THIS ASK CAUSE I WAS SO EXCITED THEN TUMBLR WHITE SCREENED ON ME. whatever. tch. whatever. i'm okay with that.

the voices i really like are Joe's, Miley's, and Ranger's. shin's voice was my absolute favorite despite him only having the one line.

Joe's was fitting it's literally what i pictured for him. It's not anything remarkably special sounding, but he sounds like an earnest and kind guy and i like his inflections when he's trying to be funny.

Miley has like that generic sexy anime woman voice which personally i think is VERY funny but VERY unlike what i pictured for her voice. I usually picture her with a deeper, more serious outward voice. Like she's maintaining an air of professionalism, but you can absolutely hear the cruel bit of enjoyment she is getting out of this in her voice too. The sexy anime voice is funny to me and so I forgive them for giving it to her.

Ranger's voice is not what I pictured for him at all, but i very much like it. It's a little nasally and higher than what I expected, but i think it adds a lot to his character. Gives more of a mischievous attitude to him, and I think it'll be fun to hear THAT voice say all of the cruel and awful shit that Ranger is known for!!!

Shin's voice was fantastic. Like oh my goodness as if I couldn't think he could get any more transgender about it. So funny to hear him talk right after Q-Taro. Like Q-Taro is shouting in this deep gravelly tone and Shin then speaks in this super soft boy voice. I really can't tell if a woman with a deep voice is playing him, or if it's just a guy with the most sweetest sounding voice ever. EITHER WAY. I'M LIVING FOR IT. I can't wait to hear the actor playing him go CRAZY! i want to hear SHIN SNAP PLEASE!

voices i thought were okay were kai and sara's. not what i pictured at all but whatever it's fine. Sara I have always pictured to be more monotone, but then again I always picture sara to be a little less expressive than the average person. The manga version of her isn't my ideal sara, so like I'm not surprised that manga sara (who is different than Sam's Ideal Sara) has a voice that's different than what i pictured in my head. Its a nice voice though, and i like her inflection. she sounds genuine with her words/emotions though and i like how almost timid she sounds at points if that makes sense?

kai only had one line but it was very surprising for me, i always pictured a more androgynous voice for him to match his outward appearance. the more obvious male voice took me aback. idk how i feel about it but i guess we will wait and see!

nao/kanna/mishima/gin didn't get to say a lot OR speak at all in the second episode, so i don't have opinions for them.

general thoughts on the manga dub right now are, it's not really anything i'm taking seriously and i'm just really enjoying it! it's like lighthearted easy to digest content for me, since i'm already so familiar with the manga and the game in general. i like the aspect of voicing over the manga because honestly having voices and sound effects and transitions takes away from the mangaka's style for me and makes the whole thing feel a little more palatable to my artist tastebuds. it's fun i'm enjoying it and i can't WAIT TO HEAR ALICE'S VOICE AS IF THIS ISN'T THE ONLY REASON I'M WATCHING IT RIGHT NOW.

Hello Enstarries~☆ fine, the most flavourful group so far, is here and B O Y do I have a lot to say about them. After quite a while, I'm getting used to seeing Anzu not actually talking and the vibe of the game. Also, I'm positively surprised by how much you can modify the lives. For some reason, often times, my fingers won't register (even though I debuted as a rhythm game player with them) but my hands are too small for my thumbs to reach everything comfortably. So, to be able to adjust the position of the half-circle is very convenient! The displayed text during a live seems to have gotten smaller, though. Not that it bothers me much. Btw kinda late, but the overall impression score isn't mathematically made of the other ones. We don't do math here except for gems.

fine is.....honestly, idek where to begin. 1. It seems to be this absolute high ranking unit, that the main rookie unit (Trickstar) is supposed to overthrow. 2. Besides being an elite unit, it is also filled with elite kids. 3. There seems to be a hierarchy where it goes Eiichi > Tori > Yuzuru and Wataru is somehow just vibing them. & 4. The unit used to consist of Eiichi, 2 members from Eden and one from Switch but smth happened and they broke up (their song still goes hard though). 5. They seem kind of pretentious and 3/4 might be rude at first. And I'm not going off of their status rn.

Now that the things I can't really connect in a nice text are out of the way, let's go a bit slower. Their uniform is some fancy formal wear in light colory ivory and blue. Everyone is actually wearing the same thing without any kind of individual distinction except Tori that little snowflake. Since the vibe is smth along the lines of "We are the absolute good and perfect" and smth smth heavenly, I guess it makes sense to omit individuality, as it would disrupt the peace or harmony. It's pretty, elegant and pleasing to look at. Every uniform is tailored to the characters but somehow I find that these go specially well with their hair color. Orchestra leaning music is also fitting for the overall theme and it's pretty OK I guess. I do like a a few but it's no strong feeling for the majority (as I don't really listen to them often). My favs are The Tempest Night and Genuine Revelation.

6/10 - definitely not average or even near it but I have quite mixed feelings about them, mainly the members not the music

Komaeda (Danganronpa 2) but make him the opposite of a hobo and in idol version. Ok, so he basically caused a whole war within the idol industry or idol course bc he loves idols so much and holds them in high regards, that he wishes to weed out the "bad" ones or smth like that? (I'm guessing in the latter half) Princely characters that aren't baby are never to be trusted too so easily smh I'm sure he has a soft side to him and all that, he reformed after all?, but he just UNINGED, MASTERMIND, 🙂 Nice voice though. And he does look pretty, kinda. The models are kind of paler than the cards so his hair color looks like mayonnaise but he looks nice otherwise. Besides that, I can pick out that he's very very very goal driven and thorough. Less of an authorative air than Keito but scarier. A gay the fandom collectively does not respect.

AMAZING L'Oréal model right here. I love his hair, so long, so pretty. Does he take care of it by himself? Either can only do this hairstyle or can do a ton wide variety. No in-between. Literally an amalgmation of Nagi (Idolish7), Tenma & Homare (A3!). He's loud, unapologetic dramatic, determined, confident and born for the stage 🌹 Would throw roses and and confetti before he goes into a room. Though, you would hear him before actually seeing him. Has the Yoosung (Mystic Messenger) voice clip. You know the one 😭 Also, completely fine going for a married woman, if it weren't the mother of one of his collegue. Isn't there a theory that he is actually an imposter of the real Wataru and might be brothers with Hajime bc same hair and eye color? Wouldn't be the first look-like-siblings-but-aren't pair.

7.5/10 - I don't actually like him that much and he'd even be kind of annoying to be around but he's just really AMAZING

Tori Himemiya

Brat. Himedere. Annoying. Literally a child. Who let this sassy lost child around? Seeing himself so grown up and mature but still thinking it's possible for everyone to like him, the naivety. He knows his charm and uses it to his advantage but toddlers can do that too. Also entitled. Idk man he's very childish and childlike (two different things). Thrives on attention. I guess I can see his goodwill, he did get sad that he can't inspire new idols, even though he is so loved and popular. And he probably has other nice sides to him. But I just can't stand overly💖 cutesy🤗 characters🌷. Especially the smug ones. He's what I thought Ra*bits would be (thank god they're not). I don't think he's stupid or an airhead, though. Average academically and in general, just....child. Not a bebi but a baby.

3/10 - yes, he's lower than the one who caused a war, I like his solo song for some reason

Yuzuru Fushimi

You, who bears the family name of my other Nr.1 in A3!, 🤎Omi Fushimi🤎, are highly likely not worth it. No hate against him, he just seems pretty unassuming (not like Omi started like that as well for me...). I take it he's one hell of a butler. He wakes up for work, he eats work, he breathes work, he dreams of work. Another hobbyless person. Maybe working is his hobby? Considering how much serving someone encompasses. Not sure if he's actually from an influental family as well. Does Toru appreciate him? Is it like a childhood friend servitude or really more business like? I can't tell if he's a generally polite person or if he's only like that to people he thinks deserve it. His hair color is pretty, I suppose.

5/10 - if he was a seasoning, he'd be salt

I don't know man. I've heard a lot but as I mentioned in my first post, it's all mostly out of context, so my impression is likely quite skewed. I had so much to say in the beginning I had to seperate it in two paragraphs for easier reading, which is a first. The most group ever.

JJBA: DIU mpreg labour headcanons because this is my blog and I do what I want <3

Idk man, I thought of these and figured eh why not make a post on them. This is strictly non-sexual/fetish mpreg though btw, as per usual. Also this is low-key pretty long lmao.

Josuke and Okuyasu

Josuke goes into labour and Okuyasu absolutely freaks out. Constantly changing between being overly nervous and overly exited, trying to fit as much last minute shit in the hospital bag as possible etc. He practically carries Josuke out the door. Josuke is also incredibly nervous and exited to meet their baby, but he's much calmer compared to Okuyasu.

Tomoko comes to the hospital too, because she knows what it's like to be a new parent (especially a young one) and she just wants to be there for her son.

Okuyasu kinda just sits by Josuke's bed like an overeager and anxious guard dog the whole time. He's too nervous to fall asleep in case Josuke needs him or he misses something important.

Josuke gets an epidural and uses it to his full-advantage. As in he does his hair almost right before pushing. He has to make a good first impression after all.

After 30 hours since they arrived at the hospital, Josuke delivers a healthy baby boy, who him and Okuyasu name Joji. Tomoko comments lightheartedly on how she'll have two Jojos to keep out of trouble now. Both boys cry at the birth, but Okuyasu cries more than Josuke does upon seeing his son for the first time... and probably more than the baby too, for that matter.

Koichi and Yukako

(I honestly wasn't sure about this as a ship... but the Cinderella arc kinda made it grow on me...)

Koichi goes into labour a little bit early. He's a pretty small guy, so the baby doesn't have as much room to grow. It isn't dangerously premature, but it does need to stay in the hospital just a teensy bit longer than average.

Yukako is very protective of Koichi. She terrifies most of the medical staff.

"I'm not doing too great, I could really go for the epidural now." - "Are you sure you don't want to wait it out a bit-" - "He says he wants the epidural now." - "N-No problem, ma'am! I'll go get that now for you."

When she isn't traumatising the doctors and nurses, Yukako is praising Koichi to no end. Telling him how proud she is of him for going through all this to start their little family, and generally just telling him how much she loves him.

Koichi eventually gives birth to a boy, who him and Yukako name Ichiro, with a full head of black hair. Wonder who that came from...

Part 4 Jotaro and Kakyoin

(*SPOILERS* "But Kakyoin dies in part 3-" No, shut up, he doesn't! Not on my watch!)

Kakyoin's already been through this with Jouta and, while Jouta's birth was long, it wasn't too bad pain wise, apart from a few moments, and he got through it without any meds. Jolyne though... not so much.

At his worst, Kakyoin shouts and swears like a sailor. He hates when people try to talk him through contractions and snaps at them. Luckily for him, Jotaro isn't good at it anyways, and just sitting there letting Kakyoin grip his hand is exactly what he can do.

He planned to give birth without meds again, but by the near end he is begging to either get an epidural or just be knocked unconscious, only to be told there's no time because Jolyne's ready to come anyway. Oh boy.

Despite the near torture she's caused her father, Jolyne comes out an adorable little thing and looks almost exactly like Jotaro. The two men are already smitten with her.

Holly comes to the hospital the morning after with Jouta for him to see his baby sister. Holly and Kakyoin try to get Jouta to take some interest in Jolyne, but he's much more interested on playing with his toy cars on Kakyoin's hospital bed.

Rohan

Rohan opts for a hospital water birth. He thinks it'll be fairly relaxing and serene for him, based on what he's heard. He doesn't go as far as a homebirth though because he worries that something might go seriously wrong and it comforts him to know that he can go for a more medicalised birth plan if he changes his mind.

It is pretty serene for the most part, but of course Rohan does do his fair share of hollering.

He almost doesn't expect himself to actually go through the birth in the pool without ducking out halfway through, but that's what he ends up doing. He's honestly insanely proud of himself for it.

He gives birth to a girl named Emi who he absolutely adores <3

Bonus dialogue bit that is supposed to be between Rohan and an OC of my sibling's but can be used for basically anyone: "No, no, I don't wanna do this anymore!" - "Come on, Rohan. If you keep going just a bit longer I will bring you lasagna fresh from Tonio's first thing." "...Nevermind, I can do this."

Kira

He just wants a normal hospital birth and overall a healthy baby. He's a simple man.

He's careful to be polite to all of the medical staff, even at his worst in regards to pain. Especially the female staff with very nice hands...

He gets an epidural to make life easier for him but he's still in for a wait... a very long wait. Baby gets stuck at 5cm and doesn't budge. The doctors advise Kira gets a c-section and Kira doesn't need to be told twice. Some parents may want a more natural birth, but Kira just wants his baby out and healthy.

By the end of the operation, Kira delivers a baby girl named Haruka (yes like my oc ok, shut up). She's brought to him to see immediately after she's been bundled up, and even the cold-blooded murderer Yoshikage Kira can't help but smile when he sees her.

hi mods, i hope things are doing well for all of you.. i don't usually do things like this, but I'm desperate, i guess. i don't really have anyone to go to. i DO have online friends, but they're already busy with their own problems and i don't want to make it worse.

since lockdown and online school started, my executive dysfunction is getting worse. i keep submit my assignments past due date. it's so hard for me to start working for some reason... especially past the due dates. i usually had my energy and motivation in this kind of stuff after some time recovering (even though it took months...), but after almost a year, i just can't seem to grasp that energy and motivation anymore. the feeling of overwhelm and fear keeps holding me back.

my parents don't help either. they keep me up until 12 or 1 am almost every nights doing extra chores. I'm more focused at nights, so i feel exhausted and passed out the whole day most of the time. if i tell them i have assignments to do, no matter how important it is, they would get angry and threaten to punish me by taking my devices away (which is not good bc i need them for school).

i did ask for help in a server i used to be in, they said sleeping, showering, and taking walks would help. but I'm not allowed to go outside, and if I *do* sleep, I don't have much time for assignments except for chores given by my parents. showering and pacing around my room wont help either. and if i DO get time to do my assignments, i would be scared and doubting to do it and find myself staring blankly at the wall for a long time.

i can't even do my own hobbies like drawing and reading novels because i keep worrying about my assignments!!!! but like i said before.. it's so hard to start working and stay focused. i tried so hard, but i keep blanking out.. and my hands refused to work. i swear, i really tried and i HATE being not able to work like any other normal students.

I'm scared for my future. my grades decide for my future and my family depend on it. I'm very close on graduating highschool. I'm the oldest child of two, yet I'm not showing a good example infront of my younger brother (who is 7 btw). I swear I'm trying to be a better person, not just for my family but also for myself.... I want to work hard, I want to be a good student like I used to be but I find it very difficult. I feel so alone.

that's all i could remember in my mind. thinking about it in more details make me feel horrible. i wouldn't ask for advices because i doubt they could help me anymore (although the efforts would be appreciated), but may i ask for encouragement from komaeda, rantaro and/or taichi fujisaki? Yeah, this whole blog thing is an interesting way to do things, but I'm glad we can be an outlet for you, at least for now. That's a real nice thing for you to do, worrying about your friends like that. Just know that you don't have to keep things like this in. You're not a burden, and you don't have to stay quiet. I can't say I know too much about executive dysfunction, at least at a personal experience level, but I do have a general idea of what it is. Times are freaking crazy. It makes sense that you're relapsing, as crappy as that is. You said that fear is holding you back, and is there something specific that makes you afraid? Maybe exploring that will help you out a little.

Yeah, it doesn't sound like your parents are any help at all! What chore is important enough for you to stay up past midnight? That seems more than a little crazy in my book, and I think that's probably a big thing that's holding you back from getting stuff done. You've obviously heard this before, but sleep is important. With the chores thing and device thing combined, yeah, they're a huge roadblock. Yeah, that is some pretty good general advice you got from the other server, but yeah, I don't think that's gonna be too helpful for your specific situation. Is there any way you could motivate yourself? That's another thing that doesn't help in all situations, but it's something to keep in mind. Hey, you can't help the fact that you don't work like other students, you can't control your feelings all the time, and that's ok. It sounds like you're stuck in a cycle of chores, minimal sleep and stress over assignments, and that would take a toll on anyone. Could you use your hobbies as a way to motivate yourself? Maybe work for five minutes, then read or draw for five minutes?

For starters, friends are supposed to help each other, it’s what makes you friends after all! If they are uncomfortable with you venting or that’s what you think, try asking them first before doing so, sometimes people aren’t ready to handle emotions like that. This pandemic has done a number on many of people. I’m sorry that it’s been going worse for you. Turning in assignments on time must be hard as well. But in my opinion, turning them in is better than not turning them in at all. Doing your work is also very important. I’m glad that even if you do have little energy, you try to use it to do your work. Trying to get energy to do anything is hard as well. I’d consider that burn out. Sometimes you just need time for your brain to heal, to process things that are happening in your life. (If you want to get a better idea of his usual sound, some of my favourites are: "Flash mich", "Au revoir", EFF- "Stimme")

Why am I telling you all of this? Well, "Kogong" is quite the opposite of that. Maybe you could hear that this song sounds rather melancholic and slow. And guess what? That piano that you can hear in the background? Yep, that's Pauls piano. Mark Forster literally flew to London just to record this song at Abbey Road Studios. He says:

"We recorded 'Kogong' at Abbey Road Studios, in Studio 2, where the Beatles made all their records. And the piano that you can hear in 'Kogong' is the same piano that Paul Mccartney played 'Let It Be' on. That was quite special for me and my band and I think you can hear that the old Beatles spirit somewhat comes through in it."

Kogong came out in 2017. It was released on the only album by Forster that has an overall more serious sound. So what exactly is "Kogong" about?

2. The lyrics

Here are two pictures, one with the German lyrics and one with a translation by me.

When you read the lyrics, you will probably see that it is kinda hard to understand, especially after only one listen. Quite a few phrases don't seem to make a lot of sense. Well German audiences were not so happy either with this piece. Some said that the melody is good even though nobody was used to this kind of song by Forster. But the comments online seem to share the same opinion on the text: Forster probably only wanted to show that he is also able to write more intellectual sounding songs. Many just view it as avantgardist crap. Then again the video has 20 Mio views on YouTube and is currently his 6th most listened to song on Spotify so 🤔

But now about the interesting stuff. How could ANYONE who knows at least the slightest bit about Mclennon not stumble across this line:

"I am fucking Yoko Ono. My heart is Paul and John."

My heart is Paul and John? Yes Mark, I couldn't have said it any better myself. So ever since this song came out, I was curious what all these confusing lyrics could mean. Where is the connection between this one line and the rest of the song? What did Mark Forster say about it?

3. Interpretation

Here is a statement by Forster:

"Kogong is the sound of the heart when it's listening. The song is about small and big things that my heart told me but that I kind of couldn't really hear. I really hope that I'll be able to pay more attention to it in the future, so maybe this song is my new start."

So the subject of the song is not really able to listen to its heart. Furthermore, the lyrics hint on multiple topics and problems that the person has to face:

Being not happy at all, maybe even depressed ("you're not fine, you're only half-way fine"), this could also suggest that the subject has to keep up a facade while suffering inside

Problems in a relationship, marriage or even having an affair ("what you still want from her", "you hug eachother for far too long")

Self-image, Self-acceptance ("Wherever you are, you will always be yourself", "you need your peace")

The above mentioned quote says that this is a personal song. Another time he said that he realised that he wanted to become a singer while walking on the Road to Santiago (hence the line about hiking).

In another interview he stated that he tries to write in the same way as he thinks minus the rhymes. Overall short phrases which came to his mind.

So in concern of listening to ones heart: The lyrics suggest that the subject is not only unable to listen to its heart but rather actively ignores it due to outer circumstances. ("I don't want to hear a thing and am beating my chest like King Kong.").

Seems like there is a constant dispute between the heart and the subject. Which finally leads us to the line:

"I am fucking Yoko Ono, my heart is Paul and John."

How could a seemingly average pop singer connect a song about inner conflicts, love and self-image to John, Paul and Yoko Ono??

Well Forster said that he literally grew up with the Beatles and that they influenced him deeply. But to connect specific names to this topic, he couldn't only have been enjoying their songs. He has to know about their history and especially about their break-up. I've read a few opinions that "John" is only in there because it rhymes with "Kogong". So if he came up with that name and him being a Beatles fan, maybe the association to John Lennon isn't that far off. But why "fucking Yoko Ono"? Mark says:

"Yoko Ono is often accused of breaking up* the Beatles. And sometimes that's how I feel about my heart: Yoko Ono brings me and my heart apart." (*literally bringing apart)

?Eh?

Tbh that's hella confusing. I think he was kinda joking tho since he also states that the "fucking" is in there because of that British town. Which obviously makes no sense. Since Forster is serious about the rest of the song, its almost like he doesn't really want to talk about the true meaning of that line.

I mean the "John" could have suited only as a filler word at first. But I just don't think that other songwriters would automatically then connect that to Yoko Ono and especially Paul. Furthermore John and Paul form an unity here in the symbol of the heart. Despite the songs topic that's just such an romantic association.

Of course the average listener could easily say that this is all random nonsense. But for me who is genuinely interested in the Beatles/ Mclennon, this line doesn't seem out of context.

So if we take the lyrics of Kogong seriously, Mark Forster connects difficult romantic relationships and listening to your heart with John and Paul. Btw I know that Yoko didn't break up the Beatles, but Mark Forster is only talking about the infamous accusation of such. And even if he's only referring to the rumored breakup, wouldn't it be Beatles VS Yoko or Beatles VS John and Yoko? No, Mark Forster has to put John and Paul on one side and due to the metaphor with the heart, they together are portrayed as something pure, something romantic.

4. Conclusion

Well I can't really break the song down to every little phrase and its possible meaning. I think this post is already long enough 😅

Nevertheless "Kogong" by Mark Forster talks about conflicts with the inner-self concering love or becoming the person that you really are. All of this is quite explicitely connected to John and Paul (and Yoko) in the peak line of the chorus. (Just the way Forster sings this part is so...honest and amazing..). In my opinion, Mark Forster implies a really close (possible even romantic) connection between Paul and John while being put up against Yoko.

Shipping Mclennon or viewing their relationship as very close/romantic is often connected with horny teenagers on social media who make up crazy theories to satisfy their own desires. But here we have a man in his 30s who seemingly hints on similar ideas concerning their relationship in one of his most famous songs. And I know that this is not the first time that pop culture mentions their connection in that way but its actually the first very serious approach that I know of.

And maybe I am really reading too much into all of this. ( I mean I'm a Mclennon shipper after all lol) But in the end we still have a man who flew all the way to London just to sing-scream "I am fucking Yoko Ono, my heart is Paul and John" at Abbey Road Studios and I think that's pretty cool.
