no, i'm fine. i promise. it's just that annabeth's fatal flaw is hubris because she spent the majority of her life believing she had to earn love and respect, so she tells herself she's the best and works to make it true so she feels worthy. but i'm fine.

When people excuse any shitty writing by saying "it's not that deep" and "it's a free game"
BITCH
1.I'm not talking about blue curtains, i'm talking about having a tone consistency and narrative structure
2.The IF community on tumblr alone has so many authors who let you read MASTERPIECES for free.
Go outside and find some better standarts for yourself

Talked into It
I hear about people talking their partners into having children with them more often than you'd think. Most often, I hear men saying things like, "I bet I could talk her into having kids." Or, "I know she says she doesn't want kids, but I know I can talk her into it eventually." Not that long ago a man said he that he could talk me into having children with him.
I'm always particularly disturbed by this attitude. Does it not really click that if you have to talk somebody into doing something that means they don't want to do it, and will therefore not particularly enjoy or care about the task? What type of mother do they think someone will be if they don't particularly enjoy or care about the task of raising the child? Hint: it's not the doting mother they're imagining.
This just seems like common sense to me, but...men know they can pick another wife or girlfriend, right? Nobody has to stay with a partner that doesn't want the same life as them. People are generally free to end relationships when they realize they're partner's ideal life doesn't match their ideal life. Why do men NEED to have children with that one specific woman who has said she doesn't want them instead of finding a new partner?
On a deeper level, has the patriarchy taught men to care so little for the happiness of the women that they've chosen to be a life partner to them? Has the patriarchy conditioned them to believe that every woman is a "challenge" that they have to tame or whittle down at every opportunity, so women do what they want all the time? They have to know that talking a woman into having kids when she doesn't want them is going to make her unhappy and that she'll probably resent them for talking her into it at some point, especially when the man doesn't help with the actual childcare like he probably told her he would.
I'm still waiting for the man that said he could talk me into having children to give it a try. And, honestly, at this point, my attitude is best summed up by the statement, "I wish you would, bud."

I love the smell of spring. And not like, petrichor, but just the smell of spring. I don't know how to explain it properly? It's like, when you go to a pond deep in the forest just after a small rain, flowers are growing around you and the trees are finally managing to grow leaves, it's the perfect temperature — not to cold, nor to hot — and a bird flies by overhead, chirping quietly. You can hear the movement of the water and see the tiny fish or bugs or maybe even a second bird that's landed across from you, taking little sips of the water, you take a deep breath and it just smells like spring. And maybe it is, just the petrichor. But in no fucking way does it smell like those stupid "Spring scented" candles or air fresheners. Those just smell like soap.
