 Arrow AU where Felicity was pageant girl in the Miss America system which is primarily for scholarships, and she actually won a decent amount and used those scholarships for MIT. 

Donna would have forced Felicity into trying it for the glam but Felicity fell in love with the scholarship opportunities and the social causes aspects and it helped her build her confidence so she kept doing it till she wins Miss Nevada Outstanding Teen at 15 right before she goes to MIT, and after that Miss America Outstanding Teen she stops competing, start meets Cooper at MIT falls down that rabbit hole with him and forgets about even trying for Miss America when she’s old enough.

Then sometime in the show, idk maybe in season 2 or 3 (probably three so that the crew know Donna) Team Arrow have some mission where they need to talk to Miss Washington and Team Arrow are trying to come up with plans, and Oliver or Roy proposes something way convoluted and Felicity says, I can just text her? The rest of team arrow is shocked and very confused as Felicity explains that one of her friends from the pageant circuit competed with Miss Washington in Miss America Outstanding Teen so Felicity could get her number and have a conversation with her under the guise of getting back into pageantry, and boom they have their connection to get her talking.

Oliver is gobsmacked because how could he have missed this in his background check on Felicity?? and he had quite a lot of flings with pageant girls during his billionaire playboy era and Felicity doesn’t fit into his image of that. But he is so entranced by this new information, and learning about how her social cause was helping young girls in stem just makes him fall more in love with her.

Meanwhile this whole time Thea has been trying to figure out why Felicity looked so familiar and its because Thea used to watch every national pageant religiously and remembers seeing Felicity compete in Miss America Outstanding Teen and is so excited when she makes the realization.

Weird to me how much hate Donna Smoak gets sometimes.

It’s true that Donna can be heavy handed re: her daughter’s love life, and I do understand that frustration. It IS a problem that could be address in her relationship. And she can also be a little shallow at first, sure, but it’s not that she never thinks on a deeper level.

Donna Smoak is also incredibly supportive anytime her daughter has a problem. She worked hard all her life to provide for Felicity and support her interest in science however she could. She loves how smart her daughter is. It’s important to her that Felicity remembers and is proud of being Jewish. She will face down any danger if it will help her daughter. Despite some problems, I think she is overall one of the best parents in the Arrowverse.

She’s not a perfect person, but neither is Felicity. Felicity has judged her mom for being traditionally feminine, for being interested in sexuality, for not being into the same things Felicity is, not being as smart as she is, etc.

Which is not to say I don’t understand any of Felicity’s frustrations, or that I don’t love Felicity with the power of a thousand fiery suns.

I just think they are both great, lovable characters who have some flaws, like everyone does.

Even though my mother is more of a “you should get thinner and more feminine to be successful” kind than “you should get a man” kind.

What are your other favorite Arrowverse ships if you have any?

Hmmm… good question. 

I guess Canarrow is a given by now, lol. Not going into detail here now why. 

I really liked Roy and Thea, I think they were a good fit and helped each other grow and move out of their comfort zones and the lives they knew and with that changed their outlook on what their lives are going to be like because of the environment they grew up in. Roy learnt that he could be more than a petty thief and that if someone like Thea Queen not only believed in him but actually loved him, other people might give him a chance too and see him for who he is, not the circumstances he grew up in and that shaped him into who he was at the beginning. She gave him a chance and with that pushed him towards believing in himself and that he could be more than what everyone thought and always told him. He didn’t need to be stuck in the situation he was in at the start of the show. 

And Roy in return taught Thea to look beyond a person’s first appearance, to understand what less fortunate circumstances could lead to and the path someone could be pushed into simply by circumstances and desperation. Roy also pushed her to be more than the spoiled trust fund princess that she was or pretended to be at the beginning of the show, he helped her grow up and look passed her own wants and needs. 

They were good for each other and in their case the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks and the spoiled rich girl actually worked very well, their relationship was very realistically portrayed in my opinion and that made me root for them. 

Moira and Walter were also a couple a got attached to. And I was really sad when they broke them up, even though I completely understand Walter’s reasons and support his choice. Their story was also very relatable and I loved how positive Walter’s presence in the Queen women’s life was portrayed. Stepparents get a bad rep on TV or in movies way too often and that saddens me, because I grew up with at stepdad and he’s the best. I was around the same age as Thea was when my dad died which led to me having a lot more patience and understanding with Thea’s behavior than most of the fandom. I guess I could relate. So, yeah, Moira and Walter have a special place in my heart because Moira got a second chance at love and some happiness after losing her husband and son in such a tragic way. 

I also very much wanted Laurel and Tommy to end up together, those two were so great together and brought out the best in each other. They were a much better fit than Oliver and Laurel in my opinion. They had their issues but I feel they could’ve worked passed those had Tommy lived, Laurel just needed to put Oliver in the past once and for all were romance was concerned. 

I also like Oliver with Helena or McKenna, Sara is my all time favorite but I could’ve easily seen either of those relationships work out in a positive way, once they’d dealt with some issues. McKenna would’ve been very interesting given she was on the Hood Taskforce and her learning her boyfriend was who she’d been hunting for months would’ve made for some great storytelling, plus given her character I could’ve easily seen her becoming Oliver’s inside person at the SCPD. 

Helena was a great character too and I felt her and Oliver’s involvement was very rushed, I would’ve loved for them to stretch it and make her turn on him all the more impactful. They could’ve even brought her back later on reformed and have them fall back into each other and a relationship, and have her become the Arrow’s partner in the field. 

Both Helena and McKenna had a lot of potential that was never really developed and their storylines felt very rushed, unfortunately. 

Lyla and John are also a couple I like, even though they do have some serious issues… but still, I think in they work very well together and they have great chemistry and are a lot of fun.

I think those are the major ones, it is possible I missed some that I enjoyed. I guess Quentin and Donna were pretty great together too and Felicity and Ray had a lot of potential too and would’ve been the better fit than Oliver and Felicity.

They’re both from 2014 and I don’t remember which I made first, oops! But if you end up watching it and reading the fic, let me know if you think they kinda do pair pretty well. They were both made in season 1 of Arrow, so maybe that was inevitable, I dunno! 🤷‍♀️😉

1. “Five Times Oliver Held Felicity (And The One Time She Held Him)” (Oliver Queen x Felicity Smoak, Arrow) This one has about the “prettiest” writing I’ve ever done, if that makes sense? I don’t fall into this sort of voice often but I hope it worked well for this one.

2. “Balancing Act” NSFW (The Tenth Doctor x Donna Noble, Doctor Who) My very first multi-chaptered fic and will always be a sentimental favorite. 💖 It’s also where I developed my love of writing humorous smuttistuffs. 😉 I’ve also vidded them a time or two. Here’s a happy one: “Short Skirt, Long Jacket”

3. “15 Minutes” WIP (Master Chief John-117 x Reader, Halo the series) This is truly one of my most favorite things I’ve written and I don’t say that lightly. This fic is my place to take refuge in and, while I don’t look forward to it ending, I’m also excited to share the entire story. However, if I don’t have chapter 8 ready to post not long after 7, I’m going to feel verrrrrry guilty. There’s a pretty big cliffhanger about to land. *whistles innocently* 😳😉

Now, since you can’t properly vid a Reader fic (since you don’t want to physically show that character), here’s my AO3 collection of Halo vids. The vids for the series are all pretty much John/Kai but you can always go straight for the AU Party Warthog and jump in, if you’re so inclined, lol! 😇😉

4. “Cold Hands” (Jordan Mahkent x Caitlin Snow, Stargirl/The Flash) I don’t often cross fandoms like this but ended up really enjoying the chance for these two to meet! Naturally, I also made a vid for them as well: “Gasoline”

5. “The Thousandth and the First” NSFW (Eobard Thawne x Caitlin Snow, The Flash) Snowells, my beloved, lol. I ended up writing them in their many variations and dopplegangers and such but this fic here? This one gave me the chance to both write a soulmate AU, which I’d wanted to do for a while, as well as to come up with an idea as to how a relationship could’ve actually worked between them as “realistically” (she says, having just told you this is a soulmate AU, lol) as possible. I’ve vidded them a lot but the one I’m going to suggest to pair for this particular fic is “I Know You” (where the GIF actually comes from as well) 😉

Ch8 The Gift You Gave me

Felicity awoke early the next morning to another bout of morning sickness. After returning to the room, she noticed a small pack of saltine crackers and a bottle of water.

They weren’t there last night. She wondered if Oliver came to check on her sometime in the night.

She sat down on the edge of the bed and opened the pack of crackers, eating a few of them.

Slowly, the nauseating feeling faded. She opened the bottle and drank half of it.

Running a hand through her tangled curls, she ventured out of the room and down the stairs. It took a good twenty minutes before she was able to locate the kitchen.

She wasn’t expecting anyone else to be up. It was barely 6 in the morning, but Raisa was already sorting through the kitchen and writing notes down on a small notepad.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t think anyone would be awake right now,” Felicity apologized.

“You do not have to apologize.” Raisa’s smile was welcoming. She pulled out a stool at the large island counter, gesturing for Felicity to sit. “I am usually the first one up and the last one down.”

“I’m not surprised. Tommy always said this place would be lost without you.” Felicity said, recalling how Tommy believed Raisa was the heart of the Queen mansion.

Raisa’s eyes flickered with sadness. “Were the two of you close?”

Felicity swallowed a ball of sadness. “Very.”

“Perhaps you and Mr. Oliver can help each other through this difficult time.” Raisa set a glass in front of her and poured freshly squeezed orange juice into the glass.

“Maybe.” Felicity said. Oliver was already helping her, but she wasn’t sure there was anything that could make losing Tommy any easier.

“I’ll make you some toast and crackers should help with the nausea.” Raisa continued, moving around the kitchen.

Her words made Felicity realize it was Raisa who left the crackers and water on her nightstand. 

Not Oliver.

“Did Oliver tell you?” Felicity asked, realizing the older woman must know she was pregnant.

“No, he’s far too secretive and he would not betray the trust of a friend. However, over the years working for the Queen’s, I’ve become quite intuitive.” Raisa replied.

“Raisa,” Oliver’s voice called from just outside the kitchen." I can’t Find Felicity," he pushed the door open, stepping inside the kitchen. “have you seen...” he trailed off as his eyes settled on Felicity.

“I should’ve mentioned that Mr. Oliver is also an early riser.” Raisa looked fondly at Oliver. 

Felicity knew that it was less that Oliver was an early riser and more that he didn’t sleep much to begin with.

“Did you need me for something?” Felicity asked, sipping from her glass of orange Juice.

“John’s on his way. He’s apparently been trying to reach you since last night. Said he stopped by your place, but you didn’t answer. He called me, hoping I’ve heard from you. I told him you stayed here last night.” 

“I must’ve left my phone in my car,” said Felicity. She moved to get up to retrieve it, but Oliver stopped her with his hand on her shoulder. 

“I’ll get it. Eat Your breakfast and take it easy.” Oliver told her as Raisa placed a plate of toast in front of her.

“And for you, Mr. Oliver?” Raisa asked. 

“I’ll have the same.”

Felicity took her time eating her toast as Oliver went to retrieve her phone.

She had finished her toast by the time he returned with her cell. She immediately began checking her phone.

There were 4 missed texts from John. 

2 missed calls from Lance, 3 from John, and 9 from her mother.

She hadn’t talked to her mom in a few days. When she called after seeing what happened in Starling on all the major news channels. With the amount of casualties suffered from The Undertaking, it made it to every news outlet in America. Especially with billionaire business moguls involvement.

Donna Smoak had been frantic with worry. And while Felicity understood her mother’s concerns. She could sometimes be smothering, and Felicity just couldn’t deal with that on top of everything else.

Felicity wasn’t even sure when she was going to tell her mother about her pregnancy. For now, she didn’t want her to know. She wasn’t ready for her mother to blow into town and be Donna Smoak about everything.

She would call her mother back later and let her know she was fine.

“Is everything alright?” Oliver asked as Raisa set a plate of toast in front of him. 

“Family stuff.” Felicity dismissed. “Nothing too Important.”

Oliver was about to ask her to elaborate when he heard approaching footsteps. He looked up to find John had arrived.

“Hey, John.” Felicity greeted. “I’m sorry. I didn’t get back to you. I didn’t see your messages until just now. I left my phone in my car all night.”

“I was worried.” John said. “I went by your place first, but your car wasn’t there.” 

“I stayed here last night.” Felicity said. 

John’s eyes went to Oliver For a moment before returning to her. “Is everything okay?” 

“Yeah. I Just had something I needed to talk to Oliver about. I was tired. So I stayed.” Felicity looked at Oliver and then at John. “I’m pregnant.”

John Stepped forward. “Tommy?"

Felicity nodded. “He didn’t know. I didn’t until after.”

“What are you going to do?” John asked.

‘’Take it one day at a time. It’s all I can handle right now," Felicity said with vulnerability.

John clapped her gently on her uninjured shoulder. “Whatever you need.”

Felicity smiled, covering his hand with her own. “I know, and I appreciate it.”

More than she could voice at the moment without her hormones, causing her to get overly emotional.

She wasn’t alone. She had her boys.

“Mr. Diggle, have a seat.” Raisa placed a plate of eggs and toast at the empty seat next to Felicity. “No, bacon today. I didn’t want to make Miss Felicity sick.”

John took a seat. “This is more than enough. Thank you, ma’am.”

“You’re welcome.” Raisa set a cup of straight black coffee in front of him.

“What are our plans now?” Felicity asked after Raisa left the kitchen. Felicity presumed to work in another room in the house.

“The city has a long road to recovery.” John said. “Many families are hurting right now.”

“We do what we can.” Oliver said. “We’ll help rebuild, keep the crime rate down.”

“There’s also your family’s company to consider.” Felicity interjected.

“Like you said, we’ll take it one day at a time. It’s the only way we’ll get through this,” Oliver said.

Felicity had a feeling that was going to become their new motto.

One day at a time.

LINEBREAK

Oliver sat in front of Tommy’s grave. The sky overhead darkening and he could smell a rain storm moving in.

John had driven Felicity home earlier at her request and he gave John the day off before coming here.

His brother was gone, but he needed him not to be.

He needed Tommy, and sitting here at his grave was all he was gonna get now. It was as close as he was ever going to be to him again.

Since Tommy’s death, whenever he closed his eyes, he saw Tommy in his last moments. 

Confessing his love for Felicity.

And now Felicity was pregnant.

He wished more than ever Tommy was here. He deserved to be here and share this with Felicity. 

Tommy deserved the chance to have the perfect little family he always wanted with the woman he loved. And he couldn’t.

Oliver couldn’t stop thinking about everything Tommy was going to miss.

The first kick.

The birth.

First smile, word, laugh.

First steps.

First birthday.

When they go off to school for the first time, first love, first heartbreak.

Tommy should be here and he would give anything to make that happen, but it wasn’t possible.

He came here to do the only thing he could do for Tommy. 

“I’m gonna be there for Felicity every step of the way and I’m going to watch over your child as if it was my own. I can’t bring you back Tommy, I can’t make any of this right. But I can do this. I can watch over your family and protect them with everything I have,” Oliver promised.

This was the most important promise he will ever make and he would honor it until the day he and Tommy would meet again.
