Jonatello headcanons of mine, cuz I'm about to head into work and need the serotonin boost.
Keep in mind, most if not all of these take place when they are college age or older.
• Casey's love language is touch. He's just been brought up to show affection in a very tactile way. Why do you think he and Raph end up shoving or smacking each other for fun? Donnie is a little overwhelmed by it at first (especially when their relationhip was in the beginning stages of realizing 'ohhh hes not being an ass, he's flirting'..)
• Donnie does eventually become so used to it he expects it. To the point where if Casey's not greeted him with a brush of a knuckle against his cheek or chin, he knows the hockey player is upset or not feeling well.
•Donnie's pretty good at keeping the lines of communication open at these times, letting Casey know he's there for him and ready to listen/talk it out if it's an issue pertaining to them. Or if he just needs a sounding board.
•Usually this leads to Casey all but crawling into his lap cuz he just cant hold out anymore. He's like the worlds biggest paint flecked cat. He'd probably drape himself across Donnie's keyboard for attention if given half the chance.
• He also relishes being at least 4 inches taller than Donnie. When stood side by side it's not that noticeable, and the bulk of donnie's shell can make manuevering a little awkward. But Casey's favorite way to start his morning is to loom behind Don while he's making his first (cough-sixth)cup of coffee for the day and nuzzle into his neck. Sometimes it even entices Donnie back into bed with him. For cuddles or uhhh otherwise.
• He's also an anime nerd, you know his ass pulled an old fashioned 'kabedon' on the turtle a couple times. Especially when he was doing his damndest to transition from antagonizing Donnie to flirting with Donnie lol. (Yes, He got punched in the kidney the first time. Amidst a flurry of flustered sputtering.)
• "Worth it" Casey had wheezed.
• Donnie isnt the only one who gets flustered sometimes, honestly the easiest way for Donnie to get Casey fidgeting is by being sincerely sweet. Not like saccarinley, but I mean, Donnie's way of showing affection is mostly sarcastic barbs or dry humor. Casey KNOWS compliments are hard won by him. So when he gets one instead of getting his ego stroked he gets so happy he just kinda doesnt really know what to do and needs to reboot a sec.
• Rebooting is usally him tugging at his bandana (sometimes over his face). Sometimes in bed Donnie will be whispering sweet nothings to him and the poor guy will just be burrowing further under the pillows, because gah! Too many emotions!
• Donnie knows exactly what he's doing. He usually waits till they're spooning (D is the big spoon, because otherwise Casey's just kinda clinging to his carapace like a scarab beetle.) Cuz then Casey can't get away lol.
• Affectionate antagonization, that's their relationship in a nutshell lmao.
Would anyone wanna see more headcanons of these two? I have thoughts.
Mostly empty ones but y'know.

Casey Jones Family Roles:
(2003 = Casey
1987 = Case
2007 = Jay
2012 = CJ
2018 = Cass
2022 = Junior or Casey Junior)
Tumblr media
2003 Casey Jones:
-6’1
-The father
Yknow that one meme?
“Vandalism is wrong Marcy” “Okay”
Yeah that’s basically his parenting skills in a nutshell
-Adopted the teenage Casey Jones on the spot
-Tries to give them life lessons even though he should really be following them himself
-Try messing with any of them and Casey will crack your skull open
-Always there for the Rise!Caseys when they need emotional support (Trauma</3)
-Loves the teenage Caseys like they are his real kids
-Don’t tell anyone but he favorites the rise Caseys
-Gives hugs and noogies on the daily
-Usually the designated driver
Tumblr media
1987 Casey Jones/‘Case’:
-6’0
-Fresh out of jail uncle
-Absolute menace
-The other Caseys have to stop him from beating up people who jaywalk
-Is an actually pretty cool guy, just insane
-Not the best at comforting, pat on the back is all he knows
-Breaks stuff with Cassandra
-The two are honestly inseparable
-Just like 2003 will murder you if you mess with the teenage Caseys just a lot more violent
-Gets ticked off by 2007 Casey constantly causing them to get into an argument or fight
-2003 and future Casey are usually the ones to break it up
Tumblr media
2007 Casey Jones/‘Jay’:
-5’9 (Headcanoned since I could not find his height)
-That one cool older cousin who is most likely a stoner
-Ticks off Case on purpose
-Really chilled out person
-Not nearly as much of a menace as his family
-Purposely act like a dick to everyone to mess with them
-Except Casey Jones Jr
-He always treats him like a little brother (imagine somewhat of a Rise! Donnie and Mikey dynamic for the two)
-Loves pissing off Cass and Case the most
-Kinda sleep deprived from staying up on his phone all night (and being a vigilante like the others)
-Will also break bones if you mess with the teenage Caseys
Tumblr media
2012 Casey Jones/‘CJ’:
-5’11
-Annoying older brother
-A little shit
-Messes with Cass and then gets rocked
-Talks a lot with Casey
-Makes cup noodles a lot and every time the water spills all over the microwave and he doesn’t clean it up and it infuriates everyone
-Will poke Casey Juniors face to annoy him
-Piggy backs on Casey and Case’s shoulders a lot
-The person he messes with the least though is Junior
-Will still mess with him
-Will try to show off to the others and ultimately fail immediately
-Hurt Junior and he will bend your legs in half
Tumblr media
2018 Casey Jones/‘Cass’:
-4’10 (Estimated)
-Bossy older sister
-Most violent tied with Case
-Has a soft spot for Junior as does everyone else in the family
-Folds CJ on the daily
-Gets so close to folding Jay but usually gets stopped by Junior
-Also rides on Casey’s shoulders a lot
-Will do the most petty things to CJ
-Y’all know the drill she’ll murder you if you touch Junior
-Can be pretty nice
Tumblr media
2022 Casey Jones/‘Casey Junior’:
-5’4 (estimated)
-The youngest child
-Pretty mellow, yknow minus the anxiety
-Gets along with everyone in the family
-Second closest with Jay (no one can beat Cass)
-Likes hanging out with Jay since he lets him play on his Nintendo DS
-Just because he’s usually fine doesn’t mean he doesnt have the trademark Casey Jones’s rage
-Hurt anyone in his family and he will only see red, especially if you hurt Cass or Jay
-Someone did and Junior left them in that alleyway with broken legs and a bloody nose
-Gift giver! Always give the other Casey’s things he finds cool and the always cherish them (2k3 Casey may or may not have cried once)
-Loves their family moments
Tumblr media
General Family Headcanons:
-They jumped someone who messed with Cass as a family
-They though he was dead afterwards so they ran
-He wasn’t, though is paralyzed now
-They have a lot of family hockey games
-Everytime they are in the car it’s chaos and Junior fears for his life
-Once they found out Junior mostly ate rats (and was Puerto Rican) they immediately made him some food that was Puerto Rican, Mexican, Columbian, Argentinian, and Ecudorian (yeah I Headcanon over half of the Casey Jones as Hispanic what you boutta do fight me?)
-I say they but it was mostly CJ with some help from the others
-Only half of them can drive
-Junior is the favorite, everyone agrees on this and everyone accepts it
-CJ is the family idiot
-The 2007-Future ride on Case & Casey’s shoulders a lot
-They may mess with and beat up each other a lot but at the end of the day they love each other to bits and pieces
(My TikTok is @m1nor.inconven1ence)

In Defense of 2012 April
TW for mentions of sexual harassment and misogynist slurs
I'm back here for another semi long post. I want to discuss TMNT 2012's version of April O' Neil (perfect timing with the month and all)  and why I personally think the hatred that goes towards her is …excessive to say the least, and frankly makes little to no sense.
Tumblr media
Before I begin, I would like to say I do think there are valid critiques of April as a character. Some of them I will mention here because even with characters I like, I will always point out flaws to not be a hypocrite. However, many of those complaints can be attributed to poor writing and lack of a woman's perspective when creating female characters.
Let's step back for a moment and think. If April was not April, say she was August, or heck if she and Casey Jones swapped roles, would she get the same amount of hate? Well she sure as hell wouldn't get sexualized as much by the animators I'll tell ya that.
The truth is, I'm not really sure of the answer to that question. I do think there are double standards when it comes to guy characters vs girl ones. A guy with psychic powers but is prone to emotional outbursts sounds cool, right?
I know there will be people that argue with me in the notes saying there isn't an unconscious bias towards gender, and clearly I'm being over dramatic. Well, I might as well go through the common complaints about April instead of stalling lol
Tumblr media
1. She gets kidnapped too often!
Starting off with probably my favorite complaint. *GASP*  April O' Neil gets kidnapped too often in a superhero cartoon where kidnapping is the most life threatening but still kid friendly crime they can do!
In early 2021 I rewatched 2012 and recorded a tally chart. For those who aren't in the server don't know, it's basically a count of every single instance a character got kidnapped. April got captured a total of 20 times. Sure seems like a lot.  But you know who got captured more times than her?
 Mikey, Donnie and Raph.
In fact, Mikey got captured more than 30 times! Yes, I counted and yes I'm aware I have no life. Yet I haven't heard anyone complain about those dudes in distresses getting their asses rescued by literally everyone.
Like I said. It's a superhero cartoon. Kidnapping is…kind of a thing that happens. Everyone gets captured in this show, it really isn't that deep.
2. April is rude to Donnie!
Alright, this one legitimately gets me frustrated.
If you are being harassed and stalked, you absolutely have a right to be rude to the person harassing you. Abusers do NOT deserve kindness, especially when they won't leave you the fuck alone.
Now you may be wondering, what does this have to do with April? I'll tell you.
That's the entire Apriltello arc in a nutshell. She is repeatedly harassed by Donnie and to a lesser extent Casey (and yes, Donnie did stalk her, no matter how good his intentions were it's fucked up). There is no win to this scenario. If this was real life, she would be called a bitch for rejecting such a "nice guy" . If she accepted him…well you know how some guys aren't always as nice as they seem…
If she was nice, she's a slut and trying too hard, if she's cold and upfront she's a bitch. I know this because I had to deal with the exact same thing April was going through during the early seasons of 2012.
Now that the heavy part is out of the way, I would like to clarify I don’t hate 2012 Donnie. In fact, he’s my favorite Donatello. But I’m not going to say his actions were excusable.
In regards to general rudeness, most of her comments ("Nice catch Donnie!") are just snarkiness typical of a teenager, and the boys have actually said and done a lot worse.
3. The Kiss (es)
Yeah okay I agree with this one. It doesn't make any sense, especially in the episode a Foot Too Big. I think it would be nice to have her not kiss him, but keep the speech there. And after that ironically, Donnie mellowed out with his crush.
I guess I can only really blame poor writing on that.
4. She's a Mary Sue
So in terms of her psychic powers, I think if they were explained a bit more, it would make more sense. If there were scenes of her practicing, or heck, the origins behind it beyond "she's part Kraang". Actually, come to think of it, wouldn't it be awesome if she actually had some Kraang-like appearances to her design? Maybe as her powers got stronger?
As for her becoming a kunoichi, it was obvious that she was not as strong of a fighter as the turtles in several instances. The only times I can think of where she saves them involve her powers, not her ninja skills. She graduated the first part of being a ninja in Season 4, she didn't automatically become an expert.
5. Uh didn't she kill Donnie-
Oh my God. NO SHE DIDN'T. Okay, am I the only one who finds this "reason" to be stupid? She was under control of an aeon crystal! Za-Naron 'killed' Donnie, not April.
In conclusion? April deserves better and stop reblogging my April appreciation post with hate. Thank you.

June was a month that was full of reading and blogging so I’m a happy blogger right now! I read 30 books. I was hoping to try and blog every day in June, which I didn’t manage but, having said that, I blogged 31 times over the month (a couple of days I had more than one post) so I’m really pleased with that.
Otherwise my highlight for June came on the penultimate day of the month when we finally got to pick up our new car! It’s highly unlikely that I’ll ever be able to drive again but our new car gives me and my husband more freedom as it has a hoist in the boot to life my mobility scooter/wheelchair. Also, because it’s an SUV the seats are higher and the doors open wider so it’s easier for me to get in and out of the car.
Here are the books I read in June:
I Know Who You Are by Alice Feeney
This thriller was really enjoyable but the final 20% or so just didn’t work for me. I do love Alice Feeney’s writing though so will be looking out for her other books in the future.
The Space Between Time by Charlie Laidlaw
This book was such a beautiful read. It got to me in a way that I wasn’t expecting and I loved that about it.
I Heart Hawaii by Lindsey Kelk
This was a wonderful ending to a fab series, it really did tie everything up in such a gorgeous way and I loved it!
The Sea Refuses No River by Bethany Rivers
This is a stunning poetry collection that explores grief after the death of a parent. I really connected to this one and recommend it.
Horizontal Collaboration by Navie and Carole Maurel
This graphic novel was such an interesting and engaging book, it really got under my skin in ways I didn’t expect it to so I really recommend it.
The Friend Who Lied by Rachel Amphlett
This was my first novel by this author and it definitely won’t be the last because I very much enjoyed it.
Girl in Snow by Danya Kukafka
I’d had an ARC of this on my TBR for over a year so I was glad to finally pick it up.  It was a really gripping read so I’m really glad I read it.
Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
I listened to the audio book on Scribd* and found it really interesting but the way the book was written wasn’t quite as engaging as I hoped it would be.
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
I finally read this book this month and I’m so happy that I did because I loved it! I’ve had the hardback of this on my TBR ever since it was first published but somehow hadn’t read it yet. It was my priority book from my 20 Books of Summer challenge and I loved every single second that I spent reading this one!
Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
I had an ARC of this but I decided to buy the audiobook as I’d heard it was good and I’m so glad I did. I completely and utterly adored this book, I think it’s going to be one of my favourite reads of the year. I highly recommend it, especially the audio!
Every Mother’s Nightmare by Mark Thomas
I knew this would be a difficult read because of the subject matter but in the end it was the endless grammar, punctuation and formatting errors that almost made me give up on this. I did finish it but I wouldn’t recommend it.
What Red Was by Rosie Price
This was an okay read for me. I enjoyed the first half but then it just started to drag a little. The writing is really good but there were too many storylines for the length of the novel. I would look out for more books by this author in the future though.
The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna by Juliet Grames
This was my second book for the 20 Books of Summer challenge and I adored it! It’s such a stunning novel and one that I keep finding myself thinking about.
The Lost Properties of Love by Sophie Ratcliffe
This book is part-fiction and part-memoir and I loved it. It’s such a beautiful novel and one that really made me think over things in my own life from a new perspective. I already know that I want to re-read this.
Nutshell by Ian McEwan
I really enjoyed this short novel about an unborn baby listening in to his mother and her boyfriend plotting the murder of his father! It’s reminded me how much I enjoy Ian McEwan’s writing.
An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen
I had an ARC of this but decided to listen to the audio and I’m so glad I did. I think the audio really added to this book and kept me engaged in the story all the way through.
After the End by Clare Mackintosh
This book is stunning! It’s such a heartbreaking read but it will also make you think. I loved this one and highly recommend it.
She’s Not There by Joy Fielding
I bought this book a while ago and have been so keen to read it so I’m glad to have got to it in June. It’s not a book that will really stay with me but I did really enjoy the time that I spent reading it.
The Swap by Fiona Mitchell
I enjoyed this book but it was lacking something for me. I think I just wanted a little bit more depth but that’s not to say that it wasn’t an enjoyable read.
Keep You Close by Karen Cleveland
I really enjoyed this spy thriller and pretty much read it in one sitting. It’s a great premise and it’s such a gripping story so I recommend it.
Last Seen Alive by Claire Douglas
I’ve had this book on my TBR ever since it was published so when I spotted the audio on my library BorrowBox app I decided to part-listen and part-read this book. I really did enjoy this book and now I’m even more excited to read the author’s new book!
Ghost Wall by Sarah Moss
I really enjoyed this book, I read it all in one sitting as it’s a short book and it had more of an impact on me than I was expecting.
The Perfect Betrayal by Lauren North
This is such a brilliant psychological thriller; it’s one of very, very few novels where I just didn’t work out what was going to happen. It’s a flawless thriller and I loved it. I highly recommend this one!
The Trouble With Goats and Sheep by Joanna Cannon
This is another book from my 20 Books of Summer challenge and I fell in love with this one. It’s such a gorgeous book and it’s one I’ll never forget! I did part-read and part-listen to this one (I listened on *Scribd) and the narrator, Paula Wilcox, is so perfect for this book.
Dead Mountain by Donnie Eichar
This is such a fascinating and intriguing book. I enjoyed seeing the process of how the author believes he may have solved the mystery of what happened to the hikers. I still feel like there’s something more to the story though so if anyone has any recommendations I’d love to hear them.
Furious Hours by Casey Cep
I found this book so interesting, it was such a good read. I was intrigued by the case that this book focuses on and also to learn more about Harper Lee. I will try and review this one soon but in the meantime I definitely recommend it.
Something To Tell You by Lucy Diamond
This is another book where I had a NetGalley copy but listened to it on audio. It’s such an engaging story that ends up being a really heart-warming read.
Hard Pushed by Leah Hazard
I found this book so interesting, it’s really eye-opening to read about what life is like for midwives. I’ll be reviewing this one soon.
Something to Live For by Richard Roper
I loved this novel! It’s such a moving and heart-warming book and it was such a tonic on a couple of days when I was feeling a bit low and unwell. I’ll be reviewing this one next week for the blog tour.
Me and the Table by Stephen Hendry
I downloaded the audio of this on a whim when I saw it in the BorrowBox app, and I’m so glad I did because it was a really enjoyable memoir.
*I’m a paid member of Scribd (as mentioned above) and they have given me a code that will allow you to sign up and get two months free (and I would get one month free). If you’d like to try them out here is the link. I love Scribd and highly recommend them.
June Blog Posts & Reviews:
I started off June by Wrapping-Up May! May was a great reading month so June had a lot to live up to, and as you can see from this post it managed it! My first review of June was Dead Inside by Noelle Holten, a brilliant new crime novel by a fab blogger and author! I then continued on with my occasional Mini review series with my thoughts on Ordinary People by Diana Evans, Salvage the Bones by Jesmyn Ward, The Furies by Katie Lowe, and Entanglement by Katy Mahood. I read the final book in the I Heart series I Heart Hawaii by Lindsey Kelk  and managed to review it straight away for once! It was then time for This Week in Books 5 June . My next review was of an incredible novel that I read in one sitting The Flight of Cornelia Blackwood by Susan Elliot Wright. It was then my turn on the blog tour for We Never Said Goodbye by Helene Fermont and I shared my review. It was then time for my first Book Haul  of the month!
In the second week of June I posted another selection of Mini reviews of Girl in Snow by Danya Kukafka, I Know Who You Are by Alice Feeney, The Golden Child by Wendy James, and Need to Know by Karen Cleveland. It was then time for my stop on the blog tour for A Modern Family by Helga Flatland, a book that left its mark on me and I’m sure it’ll be one of my books of the year! I also took part in the blog tour for The Space Between Time by Charlie Laidlaw, another fab book! I then decided to go back to WWW Wednesdays  and shared my current and recent reads plus what I hoped to read next! My next review was of another incredible novel The Van Apfel Girls Are Gone by Felicity McLean, which I’m still finding myself thinking about weeks after reading it! Then it was time for another Book Haul!
In the third week of June I shared my review of The Friend Who Lied by Rachel Amphlett as part of the blog tour. It was my first book by the author and it definitely won’t be the last as I really enjoyed it. My next review was of the brilliant Sister of Mine by Laurie Petrou. Then it was time for my next WWW Wednesdays post! It was then my turn to share my review of the beautiful debut novel Death and Other Happy Endings by Melanie Cantor. My final review of this week was of the moving poetry collection The Sea Refuses No River by Bethany Rivers. Then it was time for another Book Haul (eek!).
In the last week of June I started by sharing another selection of Mini reviews of An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, The Neighbour by Fiona Cummins, What Red Rose by Rosie Price, and Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter. I then got to share my review of the stunning graphic novel Horizontal Collaboration by Navie and Carole Maurel. It was my turn on the blog tour for The Perfect Betrayal by Lauren North, this was one of the best psychological thrillers I’ve read in a long time as it completely blindsided me! I also shared my latest WWW Wednesdays  post. I was delighted to share my thoughts on a gorgeous book that was part novel and part memoir The Lost Properties of Love by Sophie Ratcliffe. Up next came my review of spy thriller Keep You Close by Karen Cleveland and that was followed by my thoughts on the incredible After the End by Clare Mackintosh! I then shared another book haul and that was followed with the audio book tag!
  The state of my TBR:
So I think I’m going to give up on tracking my TBR for the moment as it’s just completely out of control! I need to go through my books and have a sort out so once I’ve managed to get that done I may start tracking it again. I will be doing my mid-year book stats post later this week so my TBR will feature in that post. Eeeek!!
How was June for you? I hope you all had a good month and that you read lots of good books. Did you read many books? What was your favourite book of the month? Please tell me in the comments, I’d love to know. Also, if you have a blog please feel free to leave a link to your month’s wrap-up post and I’ll be sure to read and comment back. 🙂
That Was The Month That Was… June 2019! June was a month that was full of reading and blogging so I'm a happy blogger right now!

*Me as a human being*
The bros are all sitting around eating dinner when Mikey pulls out the first pun, (you wanna pizza me bro?) and Raph is already groaning. Soon it turns into a competition between Casey, April, Mikey, and Donnie.
Eventually Leo joins in.
Raph gives up and starts walking away before I stop him and ask for a favor. He gives me a wierd look but agrees.
At the end of a particularly bad pun (from Leo) I slam my empty soda bottle on the table where Raph crushes it with his fist. "Wow guys, that was soda-pressing."
*Cue airhorns*
Casey face palms, April claps, Mikey loses his shit, Donnie is so shook he can't move, and Leo looks like he's praying.
*Yea, definatly describes me in a nutshell*
😂😂

Casey, reading a chemistry book (at some point) : "A depressed medium consists of two media that do not mix."
Donnie : Um, depressed? Don't you mean dispersed?
Casey : Oh, maybe
Forgot to post this shjahs. I just was laughing so hard when my friend read it as depressed instead of dispersed and immediately thought of these two
