coming out as a passive jopper hater bc the insane level of capitalist pandering they did with s3 (with ERICA who is like. one of the worst, stereotyped portrayals of a black girl ive ever seen, bless her heart) was truly crazy. combine that with the copaganda and the general attitude of hopper in s3 which was played off as 'awkward loser guy doesnt know what to do with Feelings more at 8' was a bit .... Eh :/ to me. because it is so obviously a fictional character and show but like. disliking hopper/jopper bc of the ideals st is perpetuating and the fact that they arent compatible at All in s3 (to me, atleast) is valid. some ppl might just think that jopper is unhealthy and/or 'overrated'. because they do sort of pay a disproportionate amount of attention to jopper, compared to the other canon romantic ships (afaik, bc of the screen time counter) and that can be Weird, esp with the... how should i say this? balancer/savior role hopper takes in the relationship (we constantly see him placating joyce, sometimes even being slightly patronizing, and also they place a lot of importance on him saving joyce from a lot of stuff, which is cool and sick if it wasnt for the fact that it directly correlates with him being a cop, yk). and the general power imbalance bc he's a Cop and abuses his position of power constantly, and that is exactly Why anything that joyce does is seen as a #insane girlboss category 5 woman moment because she simply has the short stick in the power race and when she does manage to make an impact DESPITE her economic/social/'general uselessness in say in Major decision-making when it comes to authorities' shortcomings it is seen as an amazing win. hopper on his own is extremely fleshed out as well, because we get to see his arc play out with his relationships with his daughter and ex-wife and el and re-learning how to be a parent and how to not let love allude him, and that is lovely! it's so great to see the adults in the show being focused on! but joyce is absolutely disregarded and underdeveloped as a character of her own right outside of her relationships with hopper or her kids. we see that she is determined and a force to be reckoned with and that she cares very deeply for the people she loves and would go to insane lengths for them but all that doesn't Mean anything, because we never see a backstory for her. we never figure out who she is without her family or hopper, or what her motives and aspirations and emotional shortcomings and stumbles and mistakes are. for a character to be fully fleshed out, they need to be an interesting, refreshing and palatable character On Their Own without their relationships with other characters, and we just don't see that with joyce. like u have Thee winona ryder on ur show, and u forsake developing her character in favor of developing hopper's character with /not the best taste/ and causing her to be a blank slate of a mother, lover, woman and friend, but not a PERSON. all she's been reduced to is a Mother and Hopper's Girlfriend, and honestly, that's the worst decision they could've made in relation to her and her relationship with hopper.

anyway, all this to say; these are my thoughts on the matter, but i'm definitely not hating on people who enjoy jopper passively and DEFINITELY not any by/ler (the most predominant fandom im part of in the parent fandom of st) who enjoys them as a ship with their own dynamic separate from canon. because the by/ler fandom is NOT a monolith and nobody is obligated to agree with me or change their opinion if it doesn't align with mine or be forced to look at my opinion and feel bad for shipping anything. im not going to act Holier Than Thou for expressing my opinion and u should definitely continue shipping jopper if it makes u happy! as long everybody recognizes the copaganda and capitalist mindset grind propaganda shit in st (which is Pretty Obvious) and respects that while shipping what they want, i have no problem with it. all that is to say; peace and fucking love. can we (the by/ler fandom) stop fighting abt jopper we all have our own opinions this is bc we are Not a hivemind or a monolith and not obligated to have the same opinions relating to all aspects of st just because we happen to ship one thing. i am a hater and a lover

Last fucking post on this hopefully, I apologize for this (well u can filter it if its too bad but yknow) But I'm just saying. To anyone (and If eny & friends are somehow reading this), we would talk abt them Way Less at this point If Eny didn't keep trying to start fights with people or call them out over miniscule things or dogpile anyone who brings up Eny's wrongdoings to this day. No one wants this, you are doing this to Yourself. It feels like just hogging for attention or drama at this point which is why I'll keep my mouth shut from now on unless something big happens Like this isn't good for me OR anyone involved, but necessary to an extent. Anyone is capable of change, but Eny is expecting that from everyone but themselves That being said, even then you should just suck up the damn consequences of sending Literal CP of yourself to adults and making adult only severs just to have them talk to you about explicit things, or date them/flirt with them. No buts or excuses. That is traumatizing! People are allowed to be fucking mad and If you truly believe that you can aknowledge the weight of your mistakes, you can aknowledge that people will talk badly about you for it. So my dad works bilingual customer service right and i think it is uhhh telling. The way that people treat him based on if they ask where he is from and he says New England vs he says CV or Senegal. Keeping in mind that my dad has basically a standard American accent these days except when he's tired and on certain words. Multiple times has he said he lives in Maine and people will be like "how are you dealing with all those immigrants getting sent up there?" Like.... Ma'am he IS the immigrant being sent up here...... Also sometimes they'll find out he also does French customer service and go 😮 and are impressed and then he goes yeah I'm Senegalese originally :) and they go 😐

[A Pre-NRC Lillet drabble.]

[Content warnings: Violence, graphic description of someone getting strangled, blood, Lillet being mean and cruel like if u dont want ur perception of Lillet to change for the worst then like dont read this one KJGHDFKL]

"Now this is a line I never imagined you'd cross, you really do never fail to surprise me..hm?"

They fail to reply under the taller woman's vice grip on their neck, choking them hard enough to leave nasty bruises and nicks. They open their mouth to speak, but nothing comes out, and nothing comes in as they are struggling to even muster up a single breath, their voice only coming out in cut-off retch's and gasps. Their feet had hung a few meters above ground, flailing in an attempt to escape her hold, their hands clawing at her gloved arms..but she does not budge, maintaining her cold blank gaze on their bulging tear-filled ones.

And on her abdomen, was a stab wound, one inflicted by the aforementioned man just moments before the strangulation. The blood spilt from her armor and dripped onto the floors in gross red splotches. But she doesn't go to tend to her wound, nor did she react to the pain besides a slight hiss and her heavy pants.

Lillet would not speak further as the man she was strangling slowly choked to death. Her stare was unhinged, filled with a burning anger that she taught herself to never ever harbor towards anyone..until now. There was a tilt to her head, a quizzical one, one that you would think would come from a child when looking inside a snow globe..or a toy train set.

They'd never felt this kind of fear before, a kind of terror that would surely traumatize and linger with anyone if they ever survived. The man's eyes felt like they were about to pop out of their sockets, their face a gross shade of dark purple, the veins in their head threatening to violently pop..along with their neck.

"Y'know, you could've at least hit higher.." She began, "Then you would've hit an artery..but you're too dumb to know that, aren't you?" Tears were spilling from their eyes as they suffocate.

They began to rasp out, "Ha..I-"

The disgusting sound of bone shattering and dislocating resounded throughout the room, interfering with whatever the man was going to say, as they fell limp and pliant, heavy arms falling to their side. Lillet could only watch with a slight amusement as she sees the light leaving their eyes.

Her eyes narrowed and she rolled them before cruelly dropping the man onto the floor to writhe and decay. She looks down on the corpse with empty eyes, not feeling any bit of the remorse. And instead of pondering on her actions and of what she's done, she scrunches her nose.

"What a mess."

She complained, as if the corpse were but a minor inconvenience. She steps over the dead body and makes a stride towards the door. Already having plans to have someone clean it up, and to tend to her own wound.

Hopefully D'Angelis won't be too irritated by the smell.
