I've said a lot of shit about how people don't seem to understand dark choco, but I also want to thank the dark choco fans as we all seem to have our on different interpretations of him(speaking of which even different pronouns), but they all come from a place of love and respect. We all joke about him sometimes but it always comes from a place of relatability. No matter how differently he's drawn he all seems to be showcasing the same emotions. Even if we ship him all with different people, canon or oc, we all agree that he deserves love. And I think that's beatiful.

#this is not vaguing . my brain just cannot let go of that post #that post about adding pause options in games for accessibility (valid and correct) #and then mentioning soulslike games #i dont know about other souls like because i don't play them #but DS/dark souls/bloodborne at least #have the stable ground feature that functions as a live save system #its a strategy to quit out of the game to reset enemy positions (TO MAKE THE GAME EASIER BTW) #and it doenst make you lose any progress #and quitting out requires so few buttons you can do it in a split second when u need a moment #it only really resets bosses (which is a feature not a bug) #and sekiro HAS a pause function afaik--because its fully single player + the stable ground feature #the greatest problem of the fromsoft-souls francise is gamers treating is as gamer cred for its difficulty #when the real appeal is the unique narrative and the fact that you can fine tune your own difficulty experience with different routes #routes-mechanics-and weapons #THATS the reason challenge runs are so big in those games--but what challenge runs don't tell you is that #you can choose to make your game harder #but you have the same control to make it easier #exactly as you want it. not just by changing HP scaling and damage as is the standard- but by changing the game experience itself #and theymay not be games for everyone. but no game is ever for everyone #but in terms of actual accessibility i believe fromsosft games ARE accessible because of their simple controls that can be easily bound int #easily bound into any controller might suit the player's needs best #while offering an experience that is exactly as challenging as the player chooses

I'm playing bg3 again and trying out the honor mode (which as it turns out, might be a bad idea if you never beat the game in general, much less beat it in tactician mode) and I have been confronted with the fact that I absolutely have dnd race favoritism and it absolutely is contributing to my need for many many bg3 saves because I constantly think "hmmm I want to try playing as a deep gnome to see if I get special dialog with Barcus Wroot, the Iron hands, and the underdark" before picking Drow for the 4th time.

the thing about dark and daisuke's willingness to help is that instead of ever giving up they just get increasingly desperate. like they'll go so far to deny impossibility (and/or their own helplessness) that sometimes they'll start acting outright delusional. this is obviously especially present with daisuke given he's the one with a far more childish/expressive personality, (cue dark's don't be stupid!! from these pages specifically) but i always think it's really touching that he's still the sort of person to constantly say 'no, let me stay, there has to be something i can do, there has to still something i can do for them, what can i do to help them?' no matter how hopeless things seem.
