aita for not inviting a friend of mine into my dnd campaign?

so i (18nb) have a friend (18nb, Martin) who i play in a main dnd campaign with with all our other friends (Ill name them Dan, Virgil, Mark, and Ray). Dan is our DM after we kicked out the old one bc she was horrible. We're a pretty close group of friends, but lately we've all been really busy with respective school & work, ect. so we didnt play dnd for a solid, like,, 4 months. I DMed a one shot for everyone besides Ray cause she was flaky anyway, and added in my boyfriend Zeke for it.

Everyone had a really fun time w it and I loved everyones characters, especially Dan's. I watch a lot of dnd shows, so i just keep getting more ideas- but while the one shot was fun it was messy as hell. Ive been wanting to write a campaign for a smaller group for a while, (because when i tried making a campaign with the whole group the character creations were... disappointing to say the least. this sounds mean but i created a fairy world that was very magical & told everyone to go crazy on character creation in a world with few/no humans, and like 5/6 people opted to be a human with a fighting class :/ )

ive been writing a campaign that im really proud of and have a good vision for, and decided to include Mark (because we're best friends) Zeke (because he wants to play dnd more and has no opportunities) Dan (bc he never gets to be a player) and then another close friend of mine outside the group named Gabe (who i love but never get to see) I love their characters & we're all super excited.

Thing is. I was briefly talking with Dan, Zeke and Mark about it at school bc I'd sent everyone a little intro message for the world and they were all super excited and wanted to talk to me about their classes. Virgil had no problem with this and was excitedly asking abt the world + characters along with some other friends from school, but Martin got quiet and went and sat by himself. I could tell they were off, but Martin is generally a quiet person anyway and is often sad + doesnt want to talk for like a hundred different reasons, so i left her alone. Later that day in a different class I have with Virgil he showed me his phone where Martin had sent him a message saying she was really disappointed & felt left out that i hadnt invited them to my campaign.

i instantly felt bad and started to text him, but,,,, to be honest, i dont think im at all responsible for this.

i have reasons for leaving Martin out, the main one being that they just..... arent a very active player. Hes soft spoken and doesnt actually like rping their characters- her character in our main campaign is/was literally mute bc they said they didnt want to have to speak as him. (theyve since taken this back and went through with a curse breaking thing to be able to speak, but her character,,, still doesnt talk much.) he writes really good, sad backstories but doesnt actually play or do anything with them and gets uncomfortable acting. Their characters are not only emotional, but like. crazy. they play a bunch of cool tieflings with insane magic classes & features and then, again,,,, dont roleplay them. I didnt want the group to be big and had a good reason for including everyone that i did, and our other friends that arent in it (Virgil, Ray who is Martins sister btw, all our other d&d interested friends at school) literally dont mind at all. i just wrote a campaign that theyre not in. Martin also has their feelings hurt very easily, so to be honest i just find her being sad about not being in it just... stupid. id never say that to his face & i get that he feels bad, but like....cmon.

im aware im a very very incredibly low empathy person- to be honest i struggle with depression and bpd very heavily and am often mean to my friends & loved ones without really processing why or how much it affects them. i told Virgil that i thought Martins reaction was stupid, and he said that that wasnt fair bc Martin had always been in my campaigns before (which is, yknow, one. Martin and I were even in a campaign with a completely different group a while back and Martin willingly left it very early because the group was loud & their character wasnt doing anything (yeah)). Every time Martins expressed (or i guess not expressed) sorrow for not being invited to it ive just sort of ignored them. this again isnt that uncommon cuz when shes sad he doesnt like to talk about it, and also they havent directly confronted me with this at all.

ive been talking about the campaign a lot because it occupies frankly a lot of my brain because i have so much to write, and i especially talk to the people that arent in it bc theres no risk of slipping up and telling them something they arent supposed to know. The other friend, Gabe, is friends with Zeke and Mark and I, and Dan is good around new people,, but Martins really quiet around people he doesnt know well, so if i invited her anyway they'd probably play the game even less than they already do.

again, im really bad at having an actual perspecitve on this. Virgil said he feels bad for Martin but not for himself, as far as i know Dan doesnt know about the situation, and i literally just dont wanna involve Mark and Zeke (Zeke HATES conflict and when people fight so he really doesnt have to be involved.) Mark Martin and I have all been really close friends since literally 7th grade and I guess Martin especially feels left out that I involved Mark and not them but Marks both really good at character creation and also talking in character, and like, hes my best friend who i do everything with.

I dont wanna blow off Martins emotions but but i truly dont give a shit that they feel betrayed by my not inviting him. especially because they havent bothered actually telling me this. objectively i dont think its my fault even a little, and Martin is really horrible at handling their emotions anyway (this isnt an insult, just a fact. i am too). aita for not inviting him + not caring that shes upset by it and acting like they arent?

Making a new post to hopefully get some work for my family and I so we have somewhere to stay for tonight, since work has been very slow lately. I'm Link, and I'm a 22-year old artist, and my family and I (me + my father and younger sibling) have been homeless since November 2021. It's a long story. TL;DR version is at the same time, while I was living with a friend and my dad + younger sibling was on the road (he drove a van at the time) he had gotten into a diabetic coma and was fired by his job. Being fired meant he or my sibling didn't exactly have a home to go back to, as our relatives on both sides refused to help. At the same time, I was going to have to find someplace else since my friends grandmother was entering the late stages of her life and they had to transfer her to the nursery, meaning there was a lot of things his family had to take care of and I couldn't be there. They allowed my father, sibling and I to stay there for two weeks to give us time to find someplace else.

While I was there, I'd been doing commissions to help their family out with food, and since it was either the streets or living under a roof; I told my friend to take us to a nearby motel since we had enough for a day, and we could figure things out from there. So since then, I've been keeping us here by doing commissions ever since. Either of us haven't been able to obtain a job yet due to how hard it is for us to get our documents to get an id (we dont have a car at the moment, and saving money for the room and food is already tough as is), but recently we think we might be able to get my father's ID so he can work, were waiting on his lung condition to recover fully and get money saved up for the documents and all that before we apply to get them. So hope isn't fully lost for us, we just need to take care of some things for a while longer until then.

Recently, things have gotten worse again. We were paying weekly thanks to the help from my followers and commissions I was getting, but when we weren't able to pay for another, we went back to paying daily again. And immediately we were set back. For the past few days, we haven't been able to pay for one let alone food. We were able to pay most of it to at least stay here, thanks to the kindness of the staff, but they called us earlier to tell us if we couldn't pay everything tonight, then we'd have to leave. We owe 120 by 11pm tonight, and I thought maybe making a new post might help us since posting on my other socials hasn't done much for us lately.

My commissions are open, and if you're interested in helping us out via a commission you can contact me through my Tumblr dms since it's the easiest way to get to me. But if you can't help financially, which I totally understand, I know the economy is tough on all of us right now, please don't feel bad or anything. I draw mainly fantasy pertaining to the Dragon Age Series and although I know little to nothing about Baulders Gate, I have done some art of tavs before! So last night, me and my friends were having a byler debate. One is a melvin shipper, I am a byler shipper (obvi ig), and the other one WAS a byler shipper but as the events of last night unfolded, she has now declared she can see both sides and is more or less neutral (although she did still call Mike a fruit bowl) I also was able to get my melvin friend to see the side of "melvin is bad or trashy"

anyways- both my friend's main argument against byler is that they don't see how the writers of the show could work it in well by the end of the last season without it feeling rushed or forced and to make sense to the GA because-- most people dont look through hours of hints and proof.

basically how could the writers work byler into the plot with the alotted amount of time in order for it to feel r i g h t and make sense mainly to people who dont know as much about the little stuff as bylers do

Well I made a post about how I have a theory that the letter the ST writers posted that had all those blanks and they said was written on November 6th, 1983 and signed “Love_____” matches up with Mike writing a letter to Will. The letter starts by apologizing for not getting something done -> Mike wasn’t able to finish the Dnd campaign and it was Will who was stuck in limbo with the Demogorgon until they could finish the DnD game the next weekend. And Will told Mike the truth about his roll and seemed really upset about the 7. It makes sense that Mike would write an apology letter to Will. But he signed it “Love, Mike.” But he wouldn’t have even known how significant that phrase is to him in S1, which is why the Duffers make it so that he never gets to give Will the letter.

It is only after this season, where El emphasizes that he can’t write “Love, Mike” where Mike is aware what writing “Love, Mike” means. If Mike were to recover this letter—maybe like Nancy recovered her diary entries about not being that crazy about Steve in the Upside Down in S4–we would learn that alternatively Mike has always loved Will.

This takes away the feeling of it being rushed—it was inevitable, because it was already written the very first episode. That along with the Flickergate theory about Mike and Will causing the light to go off outside the garage in S1 by something they do in the Upside Down (stuck in November 6th 1983) would make their story have an inevitability. We all saw Mike in S1 notice that strange light go off after Will walked away. If they’re the ones who caused it, the audience will have to know that it was planned from the beginning. Now if I were to tell a person who hasn’t analyzed the show//understand the queer coding of Byler, they wouldn’t believe me right now, but if the Duffers bring it all back to that very first day, there’s no denying it once the general audience sees it.

9:12am, 20 june

hi bubba! in english atm. ive had a morning and a half. late to school hehe. had to sign in at the office bc i saw maia with the little attendance slip that relievers have. signed in and rocked up. the reliever is nice, he is chill. nice enough yk? youre at your first placement rn! so shit you had to wake up so early for it. n you have to do it the next two days as well. like eek. but youre amazing so i trust youll be fine. or even better than fine. i believe in you. just shit that i cant text you hehe. but its okay cause i have the letters and music and fifty internals to focus on. did i tell you french was also spoken? im terrible at french pronunciation. what can you do i guess. my kiwi mouth cant get around the fact that french is just gurgling. hopefully ill be fine.

wearing your hoodie at school ^-^ its nice and big and warm. i love it so much. im wearing so many layers bc its so cold. or not even that cold. so windy. and wind makes everything cold. got my stockings on, your hoodie, the big fleece jacket, and socks >:) which i dont think you are meant to wear with stockings, but fuck it, im cold and my shoes are thin. the wind is fucking up my hair too. so dog of mother nature fr.

what else? oh! friday is matariki. or maybe its not? i dont know. friday is the public holiday for matariki, so thats good enough for me. thursday is a half day bc they are doing the celebration at school from 1-5. (however it means p3 on thursday is like a full school assembly) i think im meant to go to the celebration? i think i will from like 3-5 maybe. if you dont miss me too much. but youd probably be asleep knowing you. will see i guess heh. i just know my friends were interested in going. i still have dance though, so maybe i go and then leave at like 4:40? thats when the bus is and itll take me straight to dance. just gotta be sneakily wearing my dance clothes or take a bag. we will see! sounds like a good plan though, if i do say so myself.

i really can keep writing forever hehe! apparently always having something to say translates well into letters too! id be so good with a diary. but i think one entry would be like 40 pages long. so maybe its for the best this is online. saves me some hand cramps.

i love you! and im excited for drama! having our war piece kinda finished is good. but getting the guys to work its kinda very hard when they arent feeling it. but we definitely need to perform soon. the original plan was to have it be done at the end of term 1. its almost been like 3 months since that? thats some shit timing. but tbf im glad we have the time to work on it, i want it to look good. but i dont mind not getting an excellence, but i know leo wants it. which is fair. hoping all goes well and the boys focus up. ill let you know.

it was nice waking up to you this morning :*] wish it could be like that irl and every day yk? i dont think i was very good at conversation, i barely remember it but i remember definitely slurring my words a teeny bit. sleepy maddi things.

ive been writing this letter for like thirty minutes. crazy how the time flies when i just talk. tbf whenever i talk just about my day it takes about 3 hours to get through! and i didnt even get to tell you about yesterday and the full on day i had! and havent even mentioned watching the end of the summer i turned pretty with rem and hos and jazz or playing dnd! gosh theres so much to talk about i could go on forever. im happy you love that about me. im very lucky. youre a great listener which is perfect because im a great talker. love you bubba.

i should go i think. got other posts to make and some english to pretend i did. i love you, hope the placement is going okay and you havent fallen asleep injecting someone yet.

honestly with wilbur it’s slightly more chill

he already experienced twitchcon before so he’s just glad to see his friends again after so long

insists that you explore the convention yourself rather than sticking with him the whole time but you do anyway!

wilbur would probably have like a mini concert and gets you front row seats with the rest of the group

but that doesn’t mean before it that you’re not helping him set up

wilbur honestly doesn’t spend that much time in the actual convention center, he’s probably sightseeing a bit of san diego with you instead

but i could imagine him staying at the tabletop games area playing dnd or smth

surprisingly techno is really calm despite this being like one of his first conventions

but when he finally settles in and gets comfortable, he’s showing the same energy

if you’re playfully yelling, he will yell back

however there’s still those awkward moments that are unavoidable

idk why but something about him makes me think that if you feel tired and want to go back to your hotel room, he’d go with you just to make sure you get there safe

he probably also needs a break from being around everyone else for a moment too LMAO

i could also see him searching far and wide in the artist alley for fanart of himself AHAHAH

walking around with him in the convention consists of someone yelling “BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD” every 5 minutes but you don’t really mind

something about him makes me think he’ll be forced into playing minecraft twitch rivals along with the rest of sbi or smth

and he’s like “oh god, i’m going to be on stage? and people will see my face while i play minecraft?”

“i’m sure it will be fun!”

do i imagine techno getting easily tired of being surrounded by a bunch of people and just going back to his hotel room with phil and watching some anime with him? yes

lots of yelling and laughing for sure

when it becomes late at night, techno is like half conscious, you’re on your phone, wilbur is staring out the window & enjoying the night view, tommy is passed out on the couch from tiredness, tubbo & ranboo is still wide awake quietly talking, and phil & niki are helping clean up the giant mess

eventually everyone brings themselves to go back to their own room except tommy who won’t budge

you give techno a look and he immediately understands what you were thinking

he rushes to the bathroom to fill up two cups with ice cold water and handed one to you

“on three?”

“okay.. one”

then both of you pour the water on the poor child’s face

he jolts awake and saying a string of curses

“get out” is the only think techno says that before tommy rushes out with his stuff and you leave right after

Sending a Hevans thing based on the Finn crop top thing; so I'll say s3, Kurt and Sam have been together since last year, Sam is starting to feel comfortable with his identity and being out.

Kurt and Santana are wanting to go to a pride event a few hours away, they've been plotting and planning for weeks. Finally they bring it up to Sam and Quinn(I'll make this quinntana for you).

Quinn says yes effortlessly, she knows how much Santana has been through and this is a huge step. Of course she says yes.

Sam is quiet for a minute before finally agreeing. Kurt is so happy.

The two couples spend the rest of the night at the hummel house with movies and popcorn and other snacks.

The next day Sam finds Finn and tells him how much he's actually freaking out, he's never been to an actual pride event what If he's not "gay enough"

At first Finn is confused, "why dont you talk to kurt about this or even burt?"

Sam shakes his head, "If I tell kurt he'll say we dont have to go, and I came to you because you're my bro."

"Dude come with us? He's your brother and itd mean so much to him...and me. You know...having your support."

Finn is silent, " I don't know I'll have to think about it"

It takes a few days before Finn gets back to Sam, "you're right Kurt is my brother, and he's been through so much, I've watched and sat and done nothing in the passed. I'll go"

....

So it became a tradition sam and kurt with quinn and Santana; plus Finn. Eventually, as in the next year, Mercedes and Tina join the mix.

So I'll say their 5th year of doing it Finn is really in the spirit, he's been to enough of them that he's feeling comfortable. He's learned the true understanding of pride dnd being an ally

He wears a crop top that says "my brother is dating my best friend"

He made it himself, with many many helpful tips and late nights with Kurt and Sam.

Aita for blocking a friend on instinct? So i (f16) have this friend, (m16) we can call him D, who i've been friends with since kindergarten.

About a year ago, i started growing very close to D through our friend group's dnd campaign we held every friday. I knew him for a long time but that was the first time we had started hanging out out of school. We were talking on snapchat every night just chatting and after a while he started to send much more... revealing snaps. Just his bare shoulders but like without a shirt. He said it was because he had to let his medication for his back dry. I was a little uncomfortable, but we were friends so i didnt think that it would escalate into anything weird.

After about a month, D starts sending snaps in a towel and pictures of his chest which made me very uncomfortable. I kind of let the chatting die down after that because it was the only way i could think of that would be enough to gently let him down easy (i was wrong). I stopped going to the hangouts with that group and kind of distanced myself because how uncomfortable D made me. This only made D try harder to get my attention.

I was still friends with the others in the group so i would often have one-on-one hangouts with the others and watch tv. One thing we watched was Miraculous and we laughed and joked about it all the time. D overheard us or something and went home and binge watched the entire series in a week. Then everytime i ate lunch with that friend group, D would always make direct references to Miraculous or sing the theme song really loud. This wasnt once a day, D would make miraculous references every single minute. He became obsessed with the show (which, for reference of how weird it was, D is a very religious Christian boy. He gets upset if he gets an A- and never drinks caffeine (no problem with any of those things but just understand that kind of guy being deep within the fandom of Miraculous out of all shows 😭)). It was so bad, and it once again was making me very uncomfortable.

Eventually, it got to an insufferable point where D changed his route to go home and made sure to pass me every day after school and wave. I started avoiding him in the halls, he would always ask obscure questions that werent that important. I couldn't understand why he couldn't get that i didnt want to be friends with him anymore so i set boundaries.

A text i sent to D: i apologize if i ever caused any misunderstanding, but i would like to make it clear that im not romantically interested in you. i can see that you have been trying to grow closer, but i dont feel the same way. i don't appreciate being followed around, and i dont like when people force themselves to like the same things i like. its not attractive to be a copy of someone. i enjoy being your friend but it's difficult to disregard these things. if im being totally honest, when you do things like this, it makes me really uncomfortable and borderline creeped out. i know crushes wont disappear overnight but i would appreciate more space. if youre looking for a girlfriend, this isnt the right person, nor the right way to get it. and i wont tell anyone about this so dont worry about word spreading or anything. thank you

D's response: Oh, I'm so sorry I made you think that! I don't have a crush on you, I just noticed how you don't hang out with our friend group as often and I just wanted to make sure that I was being as nice as possible to make sure you weren't mad at us or anything. I did start to think that maybe me trying all that made me seem clingy or annoying, so I'm really sorry for all of that. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I'll try to do better now!

This didnt sit right with me because after all of that i cannot fathom how that translates to "i wanted to include you". This made me question a lot about the situation.

Reasons i feel like i MBTA: i'm over thinking things and D could be a genuinely a nice person. Its hard for me to read the room and i need to work on that and probably apologize to D.

Reasons i feel like i MNBTA: i should trust my instincts rather than ignore them. I've had a psychological abuser in my family before and the situation could be a stalker behavior that i've learned is not ok to have.

The blanket stills. Then something silently falls over the bed and onto the floor.

Worms.

Blobbers screamed, awaking the turtle who quickly run to her leg. The blanket shifts and falls of the bed to reveal the bed had been eaten through the millions of worms.

"Blobbers, there is nothing to be afraid of. We are simply, keeping an eye on you."

Blobbers calms down, and frustratedly grabs her things

A choking noise comes from the other side, and a slight laugh before a woman's voice is heard "I can't tell you the answer, the gate burns cheaters. Though I can help! What is a feild of a bunch of pumpkins called?" The voice

Language barriers get in way and dm gives answer for the sake of the game. And also because it would be unfair to just let blobbers suffer

"A pumpkin patch?"

The moment the words left her lips the lock melted, and fell to the floor in aa red hot pile of goo

Blobbers walks through the gate, and her eyes lock with a woman of warm firey skin and bright green long hair that fell down her face in knots

Blobbers takes a moment, before realizing that she was staring at a nymph. A nature spirit, specifically a pumpkin

Blobbers dances, and the woman resists the urge to slap blob but instead laughs "Have you a reason to dance at such a late hour, or are you just /this/ happy to have passed the gate"

She watches blobber for a moment, almost like she is studying blob

Then the pretty pumpkin lady begins to dance with blob doing her best to follow the movements "My name is Autumn Tarta" she grinned as she followed blob's lead in the macarena under the stars

“Sorry, you guys know I’m a fucking idiot.”

Billy furrowed his brow as Steve laughed it off. Everyone was at the Byers for DnD night. They were going through their character sheets, reading through the ones Will and Dustin had made for him and Billy. And Steve had asked what “perkption” was.

And everyone laughed.

“It’s perception, Steve,” Dustin said through a laugh.

“C’mon, I barely graduated high school.” Steve just laughed more, slapping Dustin’s arm.

It didn’t sit right with Billy. He didn’t like his Pretty Boy speaking so badly about himself.

“No, Joyce, you cooked everything, let me do the dishes.” Steve was trying to nudge her away from the sink.

“I got ‘em, go sit with everyone. Enjoy yourself.” Steve pushed her gently, making her laugh. She let him do it. “Fine, but leave it all on the counter. I’ll put it away later.”

“Will do, Mrs. B. It’s about all I’m good for, anyway.” He grinned at her, but when he turned back to the sink, she frowned at him, furrowing her brow.

“Steve, please. Billy’s taught Max how to drive!”

“Yeah, and they’re both terrible.” Billy leaned over the counter to flick his chest. Steve pouted at him.

“Just around the parking lot a few times!”

“See, but if I teach you to drive, then you won’t need to hang out with me for rides anymore.” He smiled at Dustin before taking a stack of tapes to shelve.

“He knows that we’re like, actual friends, right? Not that I just hang out with him for rides?” Billy sighed.

“I don’t fucking know what he knows anymore.”

“Happy Valentine’s Day, Baby.” Billy held out a small box to him. Steve beamed at him. Steve opened the box excitedly, found a mixtape. “It’s songs that make me think of you.” Steve read down the tracklist.

“Rich Girl? Really?” He smiled up at him. Billy shrugged.

“It’s a bitch, girl.”

“I got you something too. I wasn’t sure you wanted to celebrate today or anything, I tend to get all weird and clingy.” He huffed a little laugh, digging through his glove compartment.

He handed Billy a small box, thing red ribbon tied in a carful bow around it. Billy felt so warm imaging how much time Steve no doubt spent getting the bow perfect. He had also made Billy a card, did a little doodle of the two of them. Steve was secretly really good at art.

“It’s not as thoughtful as yours.” Billy opened the box, found a bracelet, three thin strips of leather braided and woven together. They were three different shades of blue.

“Did you make this?” Steve nodded. Billy leaned over to kiss him softly, holding out his wrist to tie the bracelet on.

“Sorry, it’s not as good as your gift. I’m not very good at giving gifts, I’m not as thoughtful and creative as you are.”

“Baby, I love this. And your card is so good, I love your little doodles. This was all very thoughtful.” Steve laughed.

“Just figured I needed to do something to keep you. We’ve been together long enough that you actually know me, so you should be running for the door soon.” He grinned at Billy, elbowing him as he started the car.

“Rob, can you come help me?” Steve was yelling from the back. Robin rolled her eyes at Billy.

“What do you need?”

“Parental supervision, probably. I’m being a stupid fuck-up back here.”

“Is it just me, or has Steve been like, extra self deprecating-y lately?” Robin whispered to Billy.

“Oh my God, it’s like every ten minutes he’s calling himself stupid, or useless or something. You know on Valentine’s Day, he gave me a present, and was like since you actually know me now, you’re probably gonna leave me unless I’m not too clingy but also give you thoughtful gifts. You know he like, made me some real nice stuff, like a card and this,” he brandished the bracelet at her. “And he was like, sorry my gift isn’t good or thoughtful.” She shook her head.

“You know, we were talking the other day, and he mentioned working at here still in like, a few years, and I asked him why he thought he was going to be here for that long, and he said well I have no future and the only reason I got THIS job was because you talked Keith into giving it to me, so I’m probably NEVER going to get a job on my own. I didn’t know what to say.”

“Rob! I did that thing I always do where I make everything worse.” She sighed at Billy, turning to help Steve with whatever was happening in the back.

“But you fucking do. You have so much to offer. You’re so kind, and caring, and you’re fucking smart, Baby. You’re creative, and good at so many things. Plus, Stevie, you’re hot as all fuck. Like you’re just gorgeous. You have got so much to offer. Every day I think about how lucky I am that you choose to love me.” Steve sat up, looking at him with wide eyes.

“Do you, do you mean that?”

“Of course I mean it. To me, you are perfect.” He brushed his fingers down Steve’s cheek. “Please don’t talk so poorly about yourself. It breaks my heart that you seem to just hate everything about you, when I love it all so fucking much.”

“I’m sorry, Bill. I just, I’ve always had people point out the bad. Nobody really tells me what’s good, and sometimes I don’t see it.”

“And that’s okay, I just want you to see what I see. Which is fucking amazing.” Steve smiled at him softly.

(bitching about the same thing again, dont mind me)

im still so mad about my old roommate being such a spoilsport about dnd. him and my (at the time) boyfriend were the only people i had to interact with (except my ex, also a roommate, who i was literally worried would murder me if i was around him) for the first few months of the pandemic, it was just those two 24/7, we even shared a bed

and they were in a dnd campaign together online every week and i didnt know anything about dnd really, made clear i didnt want to play with them because of anxiety reasons, but at a few points they would be talking about the game they were in

and just... i could NOT interact with them when they talked about DnD without my roommate being like 'no, you cant do that, everyone would hate you if you did that'

i was looking through one of the books, mostly just at the art, commenting on how pretty the stuff was. 'oh it says a player race is these raven things? thats so cool, and they cant talk? thats really neat! i didnt know it had stuff like this'

him: you cant be that. they cant talk so you have to make noises or hand gestures, all the other players would hate it

me: i mean im not gonna play personally, im just saying it sounds fun, but it says here its a player race so i COULD be that if i wanted, maybe with a group that thought it was fun

him: no, its so annoying, no group would like that

a while later

me: oh neat it says drow can become big spider centaurs! thats so cool, can a player drow do that?

him: no, you arent allowed to do that

me: (reads a little more)...it says you can around like... level 60

him: youll never get to level 60, it takes years to get to level 10, and it would break the game if you tried to do it, there is a 50% chance furign the ritual you just become a dead zombie

me: i mean if i got to level 60 i think i could kill my character off this way if i wanted to. if you die dont you just reroll a new character

him: that would be so annoying

me: aww this flying mantaray thing is cool, i want it as a pet

him: you cant have it as a pet, its evil alligned

me: i meant i want it in real life, im not going to play this game i keep telling you, but for the record it says you can have it as a pet at level 15

him: its evil, only an evil character can have it as a pet

me: thats not very fun. isnt alignment a thing? can you not play as an evil character?

him: i mean you can technically but everyone would hate that its so annoying

me: it seems like you sort of cant be anything. whats the point of having all these races if youre only allowed to be a human without pissing everyone off?

him: there is lots of things you can be, you can do whatever you want, some of them are just red flags for annoying players and if you picked them everyone at the table would be instantly annoyed by you

me: (irritated) it says you can be a big hyena person. can i do that?

him: no

me: it says you cAN

him: it breaks the game, because any time you go into a town they will think youre a crazy marauding monster!

me: its not a computer game though! Its not pre-written! cant the DM just say people DONT freak out? if he knows before we play that im gonna be a big hyena-orc cant he preemptively decide people arent immediately afraid of me?

him: if you want him to completely bend the world around you and ruin his and everyone elses fun, then yeah he can do that, but its selfish

me: i just like hyenas! they are my favourite animal! arent you like a half-god fire genie or something in your game? dont people think thats weird when you walk into town??

him: i mean thats because im careful about how i treat it and make sure i dont get on anyone elses nerves

i wasnt even like.. planning to join a game or making up a character sheet, he was just demanding i not be interested in it or get any fun ideas, basically. Id sort of understand if he was trying to give advice while i picked a race for a game he was in, but i was just enjoying the book!

ive never played SPECIFICALLY because the only people i knew that played were all from a really... intense... and not really MY friends, just my exes, you know? i never wanted to play with these people, but he was just snapping like 'no you would be annoying' when i was just ENJOYING THE WORLD BUILDING

its not like this experience kept me away from dungeons and dragons-- this was like the first couple months, before lockdown, right before the mask mandates, i obviously couldnt have played if i wanted to during this time, but like

man he was so unfun??? not even letting me enjoy reading tHE BOOK

nvm the whole thing he did when i tried to talk to the two of them about the monster thing in their campaign and how intense and nasty he got. i admit im not socially adept but he really seemed to expect the worst from me??

Why do I never feel good at night? I feel terrible right now! My allergies are horrible and its making it hard to keep my eyes from crossing. Like I need to wear my glasses. I know that is also just because I am very tired. I couldnt fall asleep last night again. It was just to warm. That was not a problem today. I have a hoodie on again. Which is very comfy. And today was a pretty good day, even if my mouth hurts and my allergies suck, and I feel like I have a bruised hip for some reason.

But it was still a good day. I woke up at 8 and talked on the phone with my dad for a little, checking in about next week. And then Jess wanted to talk because her dad was having surgery today too. They are fixing a disk in his neck but they have to go in through the front? And said he has a big neck so he has to stay overnight? Gonna give him a complex telling him he has a big neck.

I stayed in bed for a bit after I got off the phone, but I got up and I felt good. I loved my outfit. I was in a good mood.

James reminded me that the new Pokemon game was out today. I dont like the pokemon games because Im not interested in fighting, but this game is pokemon snap! You are a researcher and you just travel around and take photos of the pokemon in their natural habitats, doing interesting things. And so far I love it. It makes me a little dizzy, but I still played it a bunch today and it was just really nice.

Once I did leave for work it was a good day. I stopped at Walgreens to get one of my students birthday cupcakes, and had a nice conversation with an old lady who was nervous about dropping off waters for a friend who had tested positive. But I told her I thought she would be okay, she was vaccinated and was going to only be there a little bit. But she was very sweet and it was a nice chat.

And work was fun. I had spent some time this morning collecting glass jars for the kids to plant flower seeds in. So I was carrying those, which was heavy. But it was fine. And the kids were mostly really good. I didnt have many issues, just some of them being annoying. I got to finish my book, and almost cried multiple times. I really liked this book, even if the middle was a little dull and hard to get through, the last few chapters really were just great.

And I had a good time with the kids. Talking about post consumer materials, and then we planted our flowers and it was just a lot of fun.

We had some chill time after that, and eventually the girls went home and we just had boys. And then Travis took them upstairs.

I stayed behind to clean and then went up. But our new kindergartener was still dealing with feeling like it was to loud, which yeah I dont blame him. So me and him went back to the classroom and built paper bridges again. It was a nice time. He's a sweet little guy.

The last hour of the day took a while, the wind had picked up really strongly outside. And I was only nervous because I had to carry home some of the beans we had grown and I didnt want them to get broken. But it ended up being alright. Walking was just a little hard. I was getting blown all over the place. It made me very cold!

James was making us pizza when I got back. Soon they would have their other DND game to jump on, and I got back on the new game to photograph pokemon. And it was just a really nice night.

Even if my allergies started going crazy. So I got a shower and now I am just in bed. Feeling very sore. But its alright.

I am getting my hair done tomorrow. Im nervous!! But also excited. Lets hope my hair doesnt get fried off and just looks great. I have high hopes.

I just would like to take a moment to talk about my fave headcanons i have for all the characters

Akira:

he is the most OVER DRAMATIC bitch on this earth

he definitely did theatre at some point in his life

after his arrest he sometimes gets really nervous and has trouble conveying his words. he stumbles over them and cant convey his point well

ann and haru like to braid his hair sometimes

when he was younger he faked not being able to see so he could get glasses, it didnt work tho

so hence now he wears fashion glasses

he had braces in middle school

there is One(1) picture of middle school akira. One

he 1000000000% believes in ghosts and has since he was a child

aliens though? not real.

takes lots of selfies when he moves back and sends them to his friends often

biggest flirt but if u flirt back with him he. Dies cannot talk his face is fully red and hes hiding behind his hands

takes every opportunity to visit his friends

claims hes not a sap but futuba swears she saw him crying over a handwritten thank you card from ‘’that one arcade kid names the kind or smth’’

Ryuji:

when he was a kid he has a fluffy mess of hair similar to akiras and it was the cutest thing ever

he needs reading glasses but no one knows because hes embarrassed by them

he likes to doodle on papers, hes not an artist but he likes to make dorky quick drawings in the corner of his paper

he has trouble focuing sometimes and likes to tap his foot silently or draw lines on paper to help him focus

calls yusuke and akira pretty boy by habit, it started as teasing but then it just became a Habit

he keeps every gift his friends give him and therye very dear to him

he has akira help him dye his hair

when one of his friends is gone / in danger he doesnt dye his hair again until he knows theyre safe

his mom sewed his purple jacket for him herself

he likes to cook and bake

he hold his bros..bro come cuddle me...he very affectionate with his friends and casually touches like hugs, hands over shoulders, etc.

sings to himself when hes alone

Ann:

she has a pretty popular instagram account

she has really bad handwriting

like ryuji, very affectionate

she loves beanies and wears them especially in the snow

likes to make pointless arguments with ryuji sometimes, stuff like is water wet?

likes to curl her hair over breaks, thinks it looks cute

she loves to watch sappy romance and drama shows / movies

she stress eats

hates when people attack her friends on her instagram

she has pet fish

she picked up gardening from haru, its only a small plants and she forgets to water it sometimes but shes trying her best

Yusuke:

he is secretly a sucker for cutely decorated sweets

he had a small anime phase, not that he told madarame, but he has a box full of his old anime drawings and he will Never show them to anyone

he, like ryuji, sometimes drawes in the corners of his papers

unlike ryuji his are more detailed n not as dorky, its usually a detailed flower pattern or something of the sorts

he straightens and dyes his hair

his room? full of art pieces and posters u cannot see his original walls

he always has his phone on dnd and forgets to check it for days sometimes

he has 5 pairs of the same shirt, each one for a different occasions (they all look the same though...we dont ask why)

when he gets too worried over his art and stuff usually his friends will drag him out of his room and make him go eat with them

his friends pictures in his phones are hand-drawn little sketches he did

when hes concentrating really hard he puts his bangs into a ponytail so they dont fall in his face

so clumsy. he trips over everything

Makoto:

got through school before highschool without having to study

is not good with change

loves cute plushies and clothes

is Tired please give her a break

when Sae notices shes overexerting herself she makes sure to leave some of makotos favorite food and a small note for makoto on her bed

she just loves her sister very much

actually really likes spicy foods

u mention around her youre having trouble in school? not getting enough rest? forgot your lunch? Mom Mode Makoto activated

when shes alone she can curse up a storm

likes to play poker

is really good at talking to people and keeping up frienships

after highschool she is always busy u wanna hangout? she has 2 available days for the next 5 months

Futuba:

she has braces. she despises them

a very picky eater

sometimes she falls back into her old habits of hiding and isolating herself, when that happens shes learned to text someone and they sit outside her door and talk to her untill shes feeling better

cries easily, especially over characters and shows

has a phantom thieves fan account

when morgana and akira move away she gets a cat plushy because she misses her friends

shows everyone so many fun online things, discord? they have s discord gc because of her

akira has to remind her to drink water and fix her posture too much

wants to cosplay

shes really nervous for her first day of school but joker texts her all throughout the day even if he got in trouble for it

surprisingly a morning person

Haru:

she Runs on caffeine

likes to spoil her friends, yusuke spent all his money again? heres enough to get home and also buy a 3 course meal

works at a plant shop even though she doesnt really need to because she loves being around plants

plays piano and cello

likes to fish

cutest laugh please protect her

also dabbled in acting, though hers was more classical stuff like shakespear

she loves golf and swimming

knows how to fight and will do so if needed

Akechi (in general + if he got to stay with the pt):

actually doesnt have a strong opinion on pancakes, just was really feeling like eating pancakes that day when he overheard morgana

he loves the praise he gets but the spotlight is exhausting

shido told him long hair didnt look good on him once so now he refuses to cut it out of spite

loves to watch gordan ramsey, thinks its hilarious

Bottles up his emotions like crazy

actually really caring towards his friends, always checking up on them and making sure theyre taking care of themselves

loves shit talking his dad, esp with ryuji haru and yusuke who join him and shit talk their own father figures

he wears colored contacts

writes poetry, no one knows this though

cannot back down from a bet, tell him that he wont eat that spoonful of wasabi? hes choking it down with tears but at least he proved you wrong
