Was pixelville going to be a happy ending?

Yep! I plan for all my stories to have happy endings...in one way or another heh.

For context, the whole problem with Pixels/Toons/CGs being affected by smoke was the question it brought up for humans on whether or not Characters were safe to allow to exsist.

Characters having fanbase abilities and doppelgangers was already something to squint an eye at, but Humans being able to weaponize and use these on a whim? With no recollection of exactly who was responsible? Yeah it becomes a big political mess.

Anyways, Reader ends up not really getting the full scope of just how nasty the implications are because she - like so many other humans - can't imagine Characters being able to do that much damage.

Untill Sans gets "Smoke'd" during the final face off.

Reader has one massive wakeup call when she gets stuck having to evade blasters that legit burn holes into bricks and cement ("holy shit is that real plasma!?") And a swarm of Sans' fanbase AU dopples he produces, which are all under Smoke's effects as well.

Reader inadvertently spends time trying to survive a makeshift army against *one pixel character*. Imagine her horror picturing if the whole of Pixelville, Toontown, and CGcity ended up Smoke'd?

This revelation was supposed to finally push Reader to the edge of her reasoning and force her to finally realize and confront her feelings towards Sans, as well as her duty as a cop for Humanity which calls for immediate extermination of Characters that pose life threatening acts. And this was also supposed to be her big character arc as she finally understands great grandpa Eddie and his reasonings in a way, that sometimes you have to break the law in order to protect it.

Reader wasn't gonna confess her feelings or anything but she was going to beg Sans to do the one thing he was good at.

Be lazy, please give up.

Her plea basically gets through to him not only because it pulls at the insecurity he feels inside himself at the words (acting that scene out with frisk for the game left him traumatized cuz whoa too close to home) but also because as a Pixel, with the innate abilities programed into him, he can feel Reader's desperation not to hurt him (and yes her love but I was gonna make that ambiguous as all hell).

Sans was going to let his dopples desintigrate and he was gonna pull a final move by falling asleep on his feet.

Reader and Big Baddie were gonna face off and she was gonna get shot and survive but Big Baddie was gonna end up dying.

When all was said and done, a few weeks later with Smoke fully eradicated (cuz Big Bad was the only one who knew how to make it) Sans and Reader would get a prologue of them on a date and Reader asking if Sans remembered anything, anything at all while blushing like a lunatic.

He was gonna stare at her, chuckle, and say nah before stealing her milkshake. (Bruh really didn't remember anything....except for a vague dose of Reader's feelings that she'd projected during the fight and that he has willingly hung onto and cherished this whole time)

Boom! Happy ending!

Alright so the whole “protagonist oc possesses danny phantom” au has been rotting my brain since this post so I’m gonna draw some stuff for it and list ideas under the cut ok? ok

(psst list of survival goals and threats under cut too!)

So first off- characters name is conner but he’s not gonna be called conner for like, any of this outside his own head so it doesnt matter so much

what does matter is what enemies of dannys he’s going to have to worry about, along with his goals for long term survival (he doesnt know how long this will last, or if its permanent, or how long the show goes beyond cycling through a year at least)

Acquire pumpkins (fright night insurance) 

Focus on duplication and intangibility training first

Keep secret from vlad

dont let family go to college reunion 

keep vlad out of office

make amity more environment friendly (overgrowth prevention)

prep for pariah  dark  (get ring of rage and destroy it?)

skulker proof town

destroy ghost portal?

get power gem from control freak freak show  

Find a wish that will make desiree a none threat (have money for her lamp)

try and be polite and not suspicious to dannys friends

get good grades, avoid fenton family

if or when I post more about this au we’ll go through conners bullet points and see how everything goes sideways, off the rails, or just ring out every ounce of energy conner has to spare

after all, he’s danny “nothing goes right for me without a fight” fenton now

he’s forgotten important threats, and doesn't realize he might make enemies of dannys allies

but on the plus side, he might gain allys he wouldnt expect

Conner hates this whole “possessing's and being in charge of a teenager” business and honestly can’t blame him

also dan phantom is able to make portals in the future with a flick of the wrist, no build up or effort exerted, this its just a matter of stumbling into the basics of the power then learning semantics like how does one remove a portal once they have made it, or the destination, or if you open the portal in the ghost zone if you’ll end up in the time and place you were aiming for on earth, or closing it fast enough that you’re enemies dont immediately return through the portal you opened to kick you’re butt while you’re being a disaster

conner is what one might call, a public hazard to birds and anything that be funny to be hit by a stray ecto blast or slammed into face first, conner doesn't really focus on mastering these abilities either so its the main source of comedy when he’s forced to fight and or run away from a fight with his tail tangled in his arms 

sometimes just, goes invisible without realizing it and freaks out people who just see floating equipment or have a disembodied voice talk to them, its almost gets him in trouble a lot of times and he cant get as good a grip on it as intangibility

part of making him bad at powers danny and vlad tend to default to is to make his fighting pattern distinguishable from the real danny, as well as just his power use in general

conner is unreasonably angry when he finds out through trying to get ice powers to work before their ready to work that danny has fire powers, FIRE POWERS conner doesnt remember this, why does the boy need TWO elemental powers what is he the ultimate thermostat

powers involving the mind or head just, do not function for conner, he theorizes its part of the whole not being the real danny thing but for whatever reason he cant get it to work even in theory, his chokes on his own lungs before he can ghostly wail, he just goes indelible when trying to posses people, he destroys whatever is hit by his ectoblasts or  noticeably contaminates them when manipulating ectoplasm to do it (somewhere on the fenton property there is a rake given sentience with a pension for standing at the edge of beds with people sleeping in them and Staring, conner fails to destroy his frankenstienien creation and knows no sleep in the fenton house)

conner doesn't originally want to change the jumpsuit or dannys wardrobe, since he considers it a not his to change thing

but dannys cloths are either too tight (jumpsuit) or way to baggy to deal with (pants with a penchant for falling) and he last through season 1 before snapping and learning how to change his ghost form/ buy a some outfits he could tolerate or see danny being ok with

when fire powers kick in the flaming hair also becomes a thing for him, he doesnt know how turn it off or if he can, just rolls with it 

basically I wanted him to look more distinctly not-danny like as time went on and he started doubting if danny would ever resurface and take back his body and doing small things to express himself, like changing clothes  or do a old hobby

So while reading my notes for this au I suddenly remembered child labor laws exist, and that danny probably cant work in a golf course but Im not sure, so this au has brought me to look up child labor laws and available occupations for a 14 year old in 2002

Damn shame, I was attached to the idea of conner being bullied on a golf course for that bread

unless conner does a illegal and gets a fake id, say he’s 16

hm, I need to look through labor laws

but if conner needs a fake id to get a job he can make money off of, that will require serious consequences from the narrative, since cheating on a test can destroy the world if your danny fenton

Conner finds love in the form of being a dog dad, Cujo protects his secret base and is a good boy who comes when called

the puppy just wants to play! he just wants to hang out with the guy who found his favorite toy in canon! he wants LOVE!!!

so conners heart might have melted and now he’s a ghostly dog owner who keeps the puppy far FAR away from axion labs (that he despises because DID YOU FUCKERS PUT DOWN A PUPPY ILL THROW HANDS-)

cujo is a powerful ally for conner, not only does he keep humans out of his property by being loud and chasing them out, he provides a much needed positive relationship and takes conners mind off of anxieties and eventual “allies” drain on his mental health

I’m mostly noting when the episodes take place based off what we’ve been given of the shows timeline, using the help of @lucifer-is-a-bag-of-dicks ‘s timeline of events as the base, I want to figure out how much time is between episodes 

for ease if a episodes air date is within the month it’s speculated to be in, and the episode doesn't establish in universe what day it is, im using that date

mostly because im giving my boy a job or, seven so i need it for a baseline of his fund’s throughout the story and know what he can buy throughout 

riveting I know

(spoilers: there 118 + days of plot happening in danny phantom, and actually figuring out how much time they spend NOT in plot will have to be done later becouse i was up until 5 making this)

reign storm-  timeframe unclear, at least 2 (an implication that the fentons do not have guest rooms is made when jack offers dannys room to vlad for if he wants to sleep over. which either implies a blow up mattress situation or telling danny to give up his room and sleep on the couch)

identity crisis- 3 days ( “No son of mine say’s who cares about ghosts!” jack fenton, before dragging his teenager into the dangerous world of ghost hunting)

the fenton menace -5 days (fentons attempt to spin the crazy out of danny, danny gains the word crazy as a trigger word, I  begin to hate this family)
