I'm making something out of treble crochet and I'm three rows in and I just realised that in the middle of the second row there's just a random double crochet. I'm literally going to kms

New Skill Series - Crochet Part 3
Hello Hello Everyone!
It's Friday! This not only means that the weekened is soon upon us, but that it's New Skill Series day!🥳🥳 Today I'm going to show you the results of lesson 3: Double Crochet, learnt via this video.
As mentioned last week, I ended up going up a hook size to a 6.0mm hook and it worked a lot better than the 5.5mm hook I'd been using previously. I found that with the bigger hook, it was easier to get the tension right so it's probably that my previous tension issue was due to hook size. Who'd've known.
I'm not sure if it was the bigger hook or the stitch itself but double crochet is my favourite stitch so far. It was really easy for me to pick up and from beginning to end I didn't have any problems. I was also better able to see the stitches, but again, that could've been a hook size problem.
I think it looks pretty good! Excited to learn Triple Crochet next!

Ugly Square
Another work in progress, affectionally called my Ugly Square because it is made up of all the leftover bits from sewing together my past projects. I think this will end up making a very warm blanket, even if the colors are clashing. I started it in December 2022 when the gallon ziplock I was using to hold the bits was full.
These pictures are all from December. Cat for scale.
9/17/23 update: our ugly square is growing! No new pictures now but it's going really well! 😊
4/14/24 update: it continues to grow! I keep forgetting to post updates oops. But chicken soup for scale as it grows!

Day 10! In April 2021, I started crocheting and knitting, and self-taught myself different patterns and stitches! I thought I'd share with you all the crochet stitches I learned this past year. I'm NOT an expert so my technique is probably not the best but anyway, that's today's video ☺

1/22/24 - crochetblr
Silly me... I thought I was doing single crochet because I'm entirely self-taught... but I'm pretty sure the stitch I've actually BEEN doing... per my half-assed and novice research is that I think I've been doing a back post single crochet.
Well that explains a lot... I started doing single crochet per a video and was like wtf... I've not been doing this at all... I then tried doing double crochet and found both to be a lot easier. I have no idea wtf I was doing but I was trying something that looked crazy and felt hard. Of course I'm the type of person to overcomplicate shit on accident.
But I'm excited because I found out the stitch i had been doing is great for blankets and that's the kind of thing I wanted to do so that's something at least. 😅

listen i’m proud of both projects that i’m working on right now but omg i love the pattern i chose for one SO MUCH BETTER than the pattern i chose for the other. i’m already halfway done with the former while the latter is just kinda… sitting there 🙃

A very SUS photo of a market bag I made. Which is really a Santa bag because I used it to haul all of my Christmas gifts. 🎁
