This Shouldn't Be as Relatable as It Is
"With the bogey of Sunday rates of pay, the LMS Northern Division ran those Sunday services on a veritable shoestring. Only Glasgow Central station was used, and one locomotive depot, Polmadie. Signal boxes were switched out wherever possible. From Paisley to Kilwinning, there was no box open except Glengarnock No 2, which was kept open for the ironworks. Staffs at stations were the minimum.
In June 1927 the LMS took a really daring decision, advertising a Sunday Excursion from Glasgow to Portpatrick on 18 June from Central station. The G&SW men had been complaining that they were getting no share of the Sunday jobs, so authority said to Corkerhill, 'Here you are. Run this excursion to Portpatrick. Put on two of the heaviest engines which are permitted, and give the job to your two senior passenger men.' So Corkerhill chose two big-boilered Manson 4-4-0s, Nos 14374 (ex-346, ex-157) and 14261 (ex-389, ex-259), of the 18 and 240 classes respectively. They gave them to the two oldest drivers, Sanny Rowan and Dick Gaw, who had been leading a quiet life on the 'old men's jobs'. They did not know the road into Central, but they were told to proceed to West Street and they would get a conductor from there. So they set off from Corkerhill tender-first, and with a big of juggling got to West Street. No conductor there. 'Go on. He's at Larkfield,' said the signalman, 'It's not far.' So they got down to Larkfield, and of course landed in Central nose first! They had to come back out to Eglintgon Street to turn. They got back in to find a train of eleven corridors and a Pullman diner, Helen Macgregor, 366 tons tare and filling rapidly.
They got away eight minutes late and sat for 15 minutes at Paisley waiting on the Largs train clearing Glengarnock. By the time the train left Paisley it was estimated that there were 950 passengers aboard. They called at Irvine, Troon and Prestwick, with a draw-up at each to let all the train get to the platforms. At Ayr, both engines took water. By this time the train was packed. There was an extra stop to pick up a party from Kilkerran. At Girvan both locomotives took water again. Webster was guard and he came forward at Girvan grumbling about the delay. Dick Gaw, flourishing his oil can, chased him up the platform, threatening to knock the bluidy heid off him.
Now came the problem. The scheduled top load for each of those engines, Girvan to Pinmore, was 140 tons, and they had 366! No assistance was available. How they got up, I shall never know. I think the regulators must have been twice round. Stop at Pinmore — another party to lift — missed the tablet at New Luce and had to stop and run back for it, arriving 80 minutes late Stranraer. They then took the whole train down to Portpatrick, rounded it (on a loop which held, I think, eight coaches) and hauled the whole lot back up to Stranraer, tender-first. At Stranraer there was no one on duty except a signalman. They had to turn, water and coal both engines; two big fires to clean. Then they had to turn to and fill finer tanks and lavatory tanks, and by buckets, for the hoses were either locked up or could not be found. Then back down to Portpatrick, with a 40-minute late start on the return journey. They had a special stop at Dunragit, parties at Pinmore and Kilkerran, and had double stops at all stations except Ayr, finally arriving 148 minutes late in Glasgow Central. The engine crews booked off at Corkerhill after eighteen hours on duty!
'Splendid!' said Head Office, examining the passenger returns on Monday morning, and it promptly arranged for another similar excursion [next] Sunday."

Hiya, Tobey, it's Faith again. Could you draw my boyfriend Mordecai from Regular Show in orange floral print board shorts (you know, swim shorts for surfing), am orange swim mask under his eyes and nose, a double-hosed regulator in his mouth, yellow swim fins on his feet, two oxygen tanks on his back, a black diving belt on his waist, and arm straps attached to his oxygen tanks finding a treasure chest under the sea near a sunken shipwreck. The next picture should show Moose in his red floral swim shorts with a swim mask under his eyes, a snorkel in his mouth, and orange flippers swimming with a Wailmer (the Ball Whale Pokémon) under the sea with Mordecai in a swim mask under his eyes and nose, a double-hosed regulator in his beak, orange swim fins on his feet (which show his feet at the bottom), and a diving belt with arm straps attached from his arm pits. This request is due today at 3:00 PM>
This is probably one of my favorite requests yet! Thanks for the request :}

As a jaws fanatic do you have any fun facts about the franchise?? Also do you have any cool marine biology facts??
INDEED I DO!!!!!! i’ve got lists on lists of fun facts about jaws! i don’t have many about marine biology as i have just begun personally studying a few marine species ;;; but i will totally remake this once i learn a bit more! also please excuse me if this post is messy, currently very sick and foggy lol. ANYWAYS!!
- the indianapolis speech that Quint gives was re-written three times because in Robert Shaws opinion (don’t bash me for this i don’t remember the whole thing) “didn’t fit quints character well enough”. shaw himself ended up writing the script and preforming it
- on the topic of Robert, he was severally drunk on set most of the time. at one point he had to be carried out onto the orca and set in his chair because he couldn’t walk 😭 he also gave the whole indianapolis speech while wasted
- susan backline actually had four sets of cables connected to her for her scene! two in the water, two on land. to preform the scene were she’s attacked, two men would run up and down the beach in different directions while the two cables under water pulled her down. in an interview she states “i didn’t have to do anything! the boys would just run up and down the beach while i was bein’ pulled around”
- The un-named boater in the pond with Michael and his friends was actually supposed to get swooped up in Bruce’s mouth as Bruce dragged him around the pond; while mike was trying to get back up onto the boat with his friends the boater is dragged by him and ends up grabbing him and dragging him with around with him until Bruce decides to take the boater underwater.
- In the original shootings, Roy Schiender says “come down and laddle some of this shit!” instead of “come down here and chum some of this shit!” … idk why i think that’s relevant to me but i think it’s funny lol
- the orca ended up sinking not once but TWICE. everyone was concerned about getting the actors off the boat and onto the mainland, while one of the crew members (forgot his name. woops.) screamed “FUCK THE ACTORS! SAVE THE SOUND DEPARTMENT!” holding mass amounts of equipment over his head while being waist deep in water
- Brody was originally going to show up in 3-4, and his cause of death was going to be because of Vengeance 👍 Roy Schiender didn’t go to film the last two because he was too tired and owed universal a few other movies
- for the cage scene, they ended up hiring a stunt double to play richard. the stunt double would constantly spit out the regulator and choke 😭
- Hooper crushing the styrofoam cup was improvised! it’s said that most of the things they did while on board the orca was improvised .
- even though dreyfuss and shaw bickered constantly, they grew to complimenting each others performances on older films! dreyfuss complimented shaws role in ‘hamlet’ and they ended up bonding and drinking together on set
- on the topic of shaw and dreyfuss’s little rivalry .. “shaw was walking down the gang plank holding a drink in his hand and said, ‘Richard, help me out here.’ i said ‘do you really want my help?’ he said he did, and i took his drink and i threw it in the water. every drinker in that crew went ‘oooooh.’ and then he got his revenge by taking the fire hose and pointing it at my face.”
i’ll add some more later on :) i know i have a full notebook/some thing saved with facts all on it. i need to watch the anniversary disc interviews again.

Scott HydroPak Full-Face Diving Mask
A mask that's been on @scp-291's bucket list for some time, and now he finally owns.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These were a commercially-available shallow diving mask in the late 1950's though presumably the 70's during the height of the postwar infatuation with the rapidly maturing sport of scuba diving (or 'lung diving', as it was then known). They were very expensive in their time (costing well over $2,600 USD when adjusted for inflation) and did not sell very well as a result.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These would have come with a proprietary backpack and air cylinder in either single or double tank configuration.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Among the more interesting features of the mask is the surface snorkel present on the second stage regular on the left-hand side of the mask, which allows the wearer to breathe ambient air while on the surface to preserve the air supply.
The same regulator also featured a purge button to eject water from the facepiece. A common feature now, but a fairly novel idea during the era when double hose regulators were king.
Tumblr media
A handful of specially-made units were also utilized by the U.S. Navy for a short period.
While missing the tank, backpack, and breathing hose, our example is in mint, possibly diveable condition. It is still dirty with factory rubber preservative and has a bit of permanent set to the facial seal from improper storage, but this ultimately does not affect its function.
These definitely earn the title of "The Cadillac Coupe de Ville of Diving Masks".

The Equinox: Part One
The Burns-Shawyer Drive let out its static discharge as we came out of lightspeed, and I gazed in awe at the Equinox Station. The massive ring, adorned with an expansive center line extending in both directions, had me gazing in awe. The enormous hub at the center was our destination, its metallic structure gleaming in the soft glow of the planet below.
As I guided my Marauder class starship closer, I marveled at how large it actually was. It was the biggest The Coalition had built so far. The station's circular expanse symbolized unity, while the extending lines hinted at the connections reaching far into the cosmos. But I realized it was as deadly as it was beautiful when i noticed the rather large rail cannons and lasers tracking me as I went to dock on the closest arm. Wouldn't stand a chance against those things in our current configuration. It's a good thing that they are on our side.
I followed the runway inside and was greated with a voice over comms telling me to take chamber 3 since it was one of the only airlocks designed to take a ship of this size. What do you know, my lucky number. I brought the behemoth of a ship to the airlock and eased it over to seal the door. The magnetic arms reached out from the station and locked the ship in place. The pressure hose disconnected from my suit and I got up from the form fitting chair. I hastily got out of my suit and stepped out of the cockpit. My XO, Terri, met me at the door and I could hear our crew stampeding down the corridor.
"Whats on the agenda today, Boss", she asked as she hit the pressure regulator on the hatch. "Any chance we will be here long enough I can get some sleep in a bed not made of stale ramen?" She smiled at me. The beds were pretty shit for such an expensive piece of equipment. But I needed firepower and longevity for what we did. And apparently the trade off was beds 'made of stale ramen'. I could look at having them replaced while we were here. I planned an extended downtime for the crew so Terri and I could research our next target.
"We have a week and a half here", I replied, "we have some planning to do if we are going to hit that shipyard for Johnnie". At that moment the rest of the crew round the corner and Parker had heard the news.
"No way, Cap", he said excitement in his voice. "More than 2 days rest before we head back out? I shart believe it. Or shat believe it? Shin't?"
"Shan't, dumbass", said Mel, our ships weapons Officer. "I shan't believe it".
"Hey", he replied, feigning hurt, "Just cause i don't have one of those fancy smancy edumactions like you do doesnt mean i ain't gots smarts like you do". Everyone laughed at his poor attempt to sound like one of those old Earth holodecks, failing miserably.
I wiped a tear from my eye as the commotion tamed. "We have a lot to plan if we are going to take the Pendus Station back from those shithead Turians. The Coalition Admiral said if we can take it back, its ours. They were decommissioning it next year anyway. He said we could use a base of operations of our own and this station has more than enough bays for all of our ships, including two double bays more than large enough to hold Kronos". Everyones eyes opened wide at that. "We have planning to do but you guys have more than earned your share of rest. And I want to have the beds; and the couches and chairs in the lounge replace. Its like sleeping on stale ramen".
Terri side-eyed me, "It would be nice to sleep in a bunk thats a little more soft. I for one like my ramen unstale and soft."
"I heard they have over 100 different flavors of ramen here actually", I said. That caught Terri's attention. She lived on Ramen noodles with various meats and vegetables mixed in.
"Like really 100", she turned into a child. "Like not 100 different variations of beef and chicken but the curry and chilli too"?
I couldn't help but laugh. "I hear its 100 different flavors. May or may not include things like turkey, pork, shrimp. Lobster". Terri slammed her hand against the airlock door button and was moving out the door before it had opened any larger than anyone but her could get through. She tore down the station corridor at a brisk walk.
"She has no idea where she's going does she", Mary asked. Mary is our ship's doctor. She recently replaced her grandmother, whom just retired 5 months ago. She insisted her 'Grandbaby take over and make sure we keep the best there is looking over us'. She wasn't wrong. Mary was exceptional. Fit right in.
"She has no idea where she is going", i confirmed, "but that nose of hers will find it or she will take hostages till they bring the store to her".
"I can still feel my arm dislocating from the socket after I ate her last cherry fruit cup", Parker said. "I was your first victim, Mary".
"You were not a victim", she replied laughing, "you deserved that."
At that, everyone started walking out the airlock and into the bustling station corridor. A man in a blue uniform came over, ship technician emblem on his shirt.
"Received a request for a look-over here", he said. "Says you need an arms tech as well, but I'm waiting on mine to get back from lunch in a few. I can do the look-over first though."
I glanced at the crew as they made their way into the station. "Yeah I'm going to need everything on the list in the datapad by the airlock door done over the next 10 days. The ammo list is there too". I reached into my vest pocket and pulled out one of my chips, handing it to him.
"Damn", he exclaimed, "a Centauri Chip. I haven't seen one of these in real life before. What the hell do you do? Or who do you work for?" Centauri Chips were chips you could apply for if you or your business had an income of at least 10 million credits a cycle. And they are great for washing chips you find on people who dont need them anymore.
"I work for myself", I laughed. "I'm a contractor for The Coalition. We do the stuff they don't want to. Or can't. And it pays well.
"Well shit, if you are ever looking for a maintenance tech you know where to find me. The pay is crap here".
"Ill keep that in mind, Bud", I said, and walked off to find my XO. Hopefully she didnt have some poor guys arm wrenched behind his back leading her to the Ramen shop.

Panko, could you draw Pinky and the Brain in swimsuits and scuba gear, like diving masks, double-hosed regulators, flippers on their feet, two air tanks attached to their regulators, flippers on their feet, diving belts on their stomachs, and arm straps attached to their air tanks?
Sorry, I'm kind of out of time these days. School things, personal projects... it's complicated.

Constructing an Affordable Fire Pit for Your Outdoor Oasis
In the realm of outdoor ambiance and cozy gatherings, few additions can match the allure of a crackling fire pit. Picture yourself surrounded by friends and family, laughter echoing under the starlit sky, all drawn in by the warmth and glow of a well-built fire pit. However, you might assume that such a luxury requires a hefty investment. Not so fast! With a bit of creativity, resourcefulness, and a DIY spirit, you can construct your own budget-friendly fire pit without compromising on quality or aesthetics.
Choosing the Right Location: Where to Place Your Fire Pit
Before delving into construction, it's crucial to select an ideal location for your fire pit. Look for a flat, level area in your outdoor space, ensuring it's clear of any overhanging branches or nearby structures. Safety is paramount, so maintain a safe distance from flammable materials such as trees, shrubs, and buildings. Additionally, consult local regulations and ordinances regarding fire pit placement and regulations, as these may vary depending on your region.
Materials Needed for Your DIY Fire Pit Project
Gather your supplies and materials before diving into the construction process. Here's a list of essentials to get you started:
Fire Ring or Insert: Opt for a durable, heat-resistant fire ring or insert to contain the flames. This can be purchased at hardware stores or online retailers.
Pavers or Bricks: Choose affordable pavers or bricks to create the perimeter of your fire pit. These are readily available at home improvement stores and come in various sizes, shapes, and colors to suit your aesthetic preferences.
Gravel or Sand: Use gravel or sand as a base layer to provide stability and drainage for your fire pit.
Leveling Tools: Ensure your fire pit is constructed on a level surface by using a level and other appropriate tools.
Safety Gear: Don't forget safety gear such as gloves and safety glasses to protect yourself during construction.
Step-by-Step Guide to Building Your Fire Pit
Now that you've gathered your materials, let's dive into the construction process. Follow these steps to build your very own affordable fire pit:
1. Prepare the Site
Begin by marking the area where you'll be constructing your fire pit. Use a string or hose to outline the shape and size of the pit, ensuring it's symmetrical and proportional to your outdoor space.
2. Excavate the Area
Once you've marked the site, dig a shallow pit to accommodate the fire ring and surrounding materials. Aim for a depth of around 6-8 inches, ensuring the base is level and compacted.
3. Lay the Base Layer
Add a layer of gravel or sand to the excavated area, using a tamper to compact it firmly. This base layer will provide stability and proper drainage for your fire pit.
4. Arrange the Pavers or Bricks
Now it's time to arrange the pavers or bricks around the perimeter of the fire pit. Stack them securely, ensuring they're level and tightly packed to create a sturdy enclosure for the fire ring.
5. Insert the Fire Ring
Carefully place the fire ring or insert inside the perimeter of the pavers, ensuring it's centered and level. This will serve as the containment barrier for your fire and provide a safe, designated area for the flames.
6. Finishing Touches
Once the fire ring is in place, add any additional decorative elements or landscaping around the fire pit to enhance its aesthetic appeal. Consider incorporating seating options such as Adirondack chairs or stone benches to create a cozy atmosphere for gatherings.
7. Test Your Fire Pit
Before lighting your inaugural fire, double-check that everything is securely in place and there are no flammable materials nearby. Once satisfied, ignite your fire pit and enjoy the warmth and ambiance it brings to your outdoor space.
Building a cheap fire pit doesn't mean sacrificing quality or style. With the right materials, careful planning, and a bit of elbow grease, you can create a budget-friendly fire pit that enhances your outdoor oasis and provides countless hours of enjoyment. So roll up your sleeves, gather your supplies, and get ready to bask in the glow of your DIY masterpiece.
FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
1. Is it safe to build a fire pit on grass or a wooden deck?
While it's technically possible to construct a fire pit on grass or a wooden deck, it's not recommended due to the risk of fire damage. It's best to build your fire pit on a flat, level surface such as concrete or gravel, ensuring there's ample clearance from flammable materials.
2. Can I cook food on my fire pit?
Many fire pits are suitable for cooking, especially those equipped with grill grates or cooking accessories. However, exercise caution and use appropriate cooking utensils to avoid accidents or injuries. Always follow safety guidelines and never leave a fire unattended while cooking.
3. How can I maintain my fire pit for longevity?
To prolong the life of your fire pit, regularly clean and remove ash buildup, especially if using wood as fuel. Inspect the fire pit for any signs of wear or damage, and make repairs as needed. Additionally, consider covering your fire pit when not in use to protect it from the elements and extend its lifespan.

Hi, Tobey, it's Faith again. Could you draw Moose in an orange swim mask under his eyes, a double-hosed regulator in his mouth, red floral swim shorts, a black diving belt on his waist, arm straps that go from Moose's air tanks to his arms under his arm pits, and those orange swim fins that show the bottom of Moose's yellow feet with Moose himself at a colorful, yet beautiful coral reef, swimming with a Finizen (you know, the Pokémon from Scarlet and Violet?) And the next picture should feature Moose and his friend, Zee in their swimsuits with Moose in his red floral swim shorts and Zee in a purple bikini top and swimsuit skirt with full-face scuba masks on their faces, double-hosed regulators hooked up to their swim masks and air tanks on their backs, arm straps on their arms, and diving belts on their waists with Zee walking on the ocean floor and seeing a Sharpedo swim by her like Jaws, then another picture with the suo in their swimsuits and scuba gear seeing the crabs conga dancing and the crabs see Zee and they hurt her (since birds and crabs are considered to be mortal enemies). This request is due on February 23th, 2024.
Finished your request! Zee can't catch a break D:
