And to think, I said I would show some progress pics and then nearly forgot. Here's my first knitting project so far: a double knit scarf.
It's going to take a while and I had to restart it a couple of times, but I think it's looking pretty solid right now. I've already charted the next section of the design to work on, though a lot of that part will be solid rows.

Knitting is so stupid. I bought 2834 yards of yarn. The length of 23 football field including the end zones. And with it I'm making a blanket that will barely cover my feet.

my first attempt at double knitting is this scarf- in-progress. it will eventually read "lesbianism is a blessing" (from an old pride march banner), but for now it just says "lesb".
[ID: a double-knit scarf with a cyan blue background and dark blue capital letters that read "L E S B". end ID]

Posting stuff from my portfolio because I’m proud of it dammit: today’s episode, cats with coffee!
This is the first proper double knitting pattern I made with Stitch Fiddle, which I highly recommend for pattern designing stuff. This specific tapestry is for my grandparents, but I bet I’ll be making more tapestry cats before long.

I want to knit a double knit trans pride scarf that says "living Plato's allegory of the cave" but I feel that would perhaps be a very long scarf. Actually I would love to make it in nonbinary colors even more but if I wanted to sell the pattern (and donate the proceeds to charity) I think trans pride would be more applicable. But alas the entirety of my double knitting experience is a scarf that never got past a foot long.

Ooooh I know what motif I want on the double-knit gloves I'm planning to go with my One Ring Cowl and Noble Maiden hat! How about a White Tree of Gondor?
For reference, this is the hat and the just-barely-begun cowl:
And these are the double-knit glove prototypes I made a while ago with a fleur-de-lys chart I borrowed from here:
And this is what I've got so far for the Tree of Gondor gloves! I adapted a tree chart from here to make it fit in the panel for the backs of the gloves where the original set has the fleur-de-lys.
Still need to work on the left panel (which will be the palm); I don't know if I'll keep the little mini-crosses (they do match the stars above the White Tree motif, after all); if so I will probably get rid of the border at the bottom since I didn't have room for it on the tree panel and just keep the stars going that far down. Or maybe some other small LOTR-themed motif across the palm?
