I think I’ve posted this before, but it’s a THING now.
In the game I DM, I ended up making up a recurring merchant NPC just for shits and giggles - a Kobold who calls himself Dumas and goes around selling strange magical/enchanted items which are... not as they seem. His prices are enticing, but the items have strange properties, and it’s a gamble to see if your investment is worth it.
My players love him so much they have taken to Sending him every time they want something new, and all of their party funds end up going to this little creature, who is delighted, and is now probably the richest bastard in all of Barovia. (Yes, this is in Curse of Strahd.... look, humor needs to be a part of EVERY game imo, even the Gothiest of them all.)

Hello, apologies for potentially bothering you, but are you still working on that Doubtfell Dumas pdf you've mentioned in a couple posts a while back? My players in my Curse of Strahd game have just come across him (because I rolled a random encounter at the end of the session when half the players had to leave and didn't have the energy to actually roll it xD), and so I'm curious to know whether any progress has been made on that front, although I can imagine it's probably slipped your mind in the face of everything else going on in the world lately. Regardless, I would be more than happy to purchase it whenever it releases at whatever price you see fit. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration, and have a lovely day. =)
You know what, fellow DM? Your players deserve nice things. I'm going to sit down as soon as I can and finish that up. I'll slap something together for it and get it up on itch.io as quickly as I'm able! Thank you for reminding me!

hiya! I love Dumas the kobold, would you be all right with me borrowing him for my D&D game?
Yeah, go for it! I though I'd answered this before but apparently not - you can throw Dumas into your games all you want!
I'm working on developing a little PDF package for him - a collection of cards of his wares and a character sheet for him. But that's not done yet, so just do whatever ya think fits. :)

Will you make more of Dumas' wares? My DnD buddies got a kick out of the Scroll of Protection from Friends.
I actually have a whole list that I keep on hand, I just haven't illustrated all of them. Perhaps I'll make that a project for the future. :) I'll make them available for cheap through gumroad or something.

Hey DMs, you know what your campaign needs? A tiny little kobold merchant that sells your party random magical items that will absolutely drive them nuts from frustration and delight!
I created this guy for my own table originally, but people seemed to like it, so I’ve collected 15 items Dumas sells, made a PDF of his character sheet and slapped it all together into a nice assets zip file!
You can purchase it on itch.io for as little as $1!

If you’re curious about what KIND of items are included, you can check out this post for a preview!
This folder of assets includes the following:
15 Doubtfel Dumas Original Items with unique illustrations and item cards: (4 potions, 2 weapons and various assorted magical items and equipment)
A transparent image of Dumas and his cart
A token of Dumas
A D&D 5e character sheet for Dumas, including optional backstory

You first notice the creak of the wheels behind you and then the whole wagon appears. It MUST be just a wooden box balanced precariously on a single axel. From out behind a towering mess of baubles and trinkets of all shapes and sizes, a hooded figure emerges. It’s scaly and scarlet, with two glowing yellow eyes narrowed into needles as they scratch over your figure, clearly seeking out a coin pouch. The dead rat it’s chewing on (or is that meant to be a mustache?) moves up and down as it finally speaks:
“Doubtfel Dumas’ On Demand Supliessss…. need ssssomething? We’ve got salessss!”
…
Recently I made a little merchant kobold character just to make life more difficult for my players. He sells items alright - although his spelling is terrible, if the labels are anything to go by. (Or is it…?) The Artificer in the group immediately helped himself to a Vore-pal Sword, which… immediately helped itself to his arm. Thankfully he rolled well enough to evade a lethal bite, but now he has an interesting weapon and I have endless entertainment. ;)
