it may take awhile to build up the confidence to confess to DAPHNE... it's terrifying to confessing your love to her and being met with nothing but a straight face!

but, you found that wasn't the case at all.

you had planned to do something special, like take her out to the lake or do it somewhere nice. but, when you came into the shop that morning, your nervousness overcame you and made you blurt it out.

"Y/N. i was wondering when you'd stop by. the usual?"

"i-i like you."

her eyes widen a bit, and you see her cheeks darken. "pardon me?"

there was no going back now. "i like you. like, like like you." you look down and play with your fingers.

you can't see her, but her mouth is open and she looks incredibly flustered.

you can see her shake out of the corner of your eye and she turns to the side, still blushing but returned to her stoic expression. she's covering her mouth with her hand.

"i.... that doesn't answer my question."

"huh?"

"would you like the usual?" she looks back at you, lightly gripping the tabletop.

"o-oh! yeah, thanks." you're a bit hurt as to why she ignored your confession just like that.

she rushes away to the backroom, likely taking your bread from the oven. DAPHNE was always prepared for your visits, in fact you visited so often she had started to bake your usual before you even arrived.

she comes out, still with a bit of blood in her cheeks and her steps more swift than usual.

she sets your package down on the tabletop, ringing up the register as you give her your money and take the bag.

you look at her for a moment, looking for any sort of response, but you give up and trudge away.

"oh, Y/N?"

you turn your head a little too fast. "yeah?"

".. i like you too."

you process it for a moment, before smiling widely and rushing over to her, slamming a piece of paper down on the counter and rushing out, winking. "bye DAPHNE!"

she watches you go, and as you walk out the door of OTHERMART, she picks up the ripped piece of paper you left.

it's a phone number.

she massages her nose bridge before chuckling to herself and sliding the paper into the pocket of her apron.

"christ, Y/N.."
