Baby punks!
Listen up. I got a few tips and stuff.
1: Thrift everything. I'm not even remotely kidding. You can go MILES with the shit available at thrift stores and only spend like 10 bucks. I go to Goodwill about once a week and I find more than I even really need.
If you wanna make patches but don't have anything to cut up, just buy like 3 pairs of jeans for like 3 dollars and you'll be set up for a while. Cloth, clothes, gadgets, wallets, jackets, even shoes. If you're worried that punk is "expensive", you're not looking in the right places.
2: Five Below. They have really solid fabric paints and stencils you can get. Also check out Joann's and Michael's. They got needles, embroidery floss, fabric paints, fabrics, etc. But be wary about those two, prices are up due to inflation.
3: YouTube tutorials are your friend!! If you're confused about how to do something, take to the web. You won't get all your answers, but you sure will find how to attach a zipper to your pants.
4: Dental floss. This is brought up every time in these discussions because it works. If you need to sew something onto your pants, jacket, whatever, use dental floss. You can snatch some up at CVS. It is very helpful.
5: Find a jacket with wide armpits. Especially if it's denim and especially if you plan on adding zip-off sleeves. ESPECIALLY if you have armpit hair. Just trust me on this.
6: Do you drink soda/beer/other canned beverages? Because if you do, save them. The cans, the tabs, all of it. It can be very useful. The cans, you can turn into spikes. The tabs can be helpful for zippers, chainmail, whatever you might use them for.
7: Believe in what you're saying. Don't just claim you stand for human rights, put it into action. Learn. Understand that some women, black people, and/or other minorities are gonna be hesitant to trust you and understand why. Know when it is your turn to participate in a conversation, and don't force your way into a community or conversation that isn't yours. You're going to be in a strange place where you've been pushed away from all the bigots in your life but can't go to other minority communities because they don't know whether or not you can be trusted. And don't try to make them know that you're "one of the good whites/men/etc". You're gonna need to find community and put weight behind your words. A friend or a relative says something just a little bit off? Don't laugh it off, make them know it was wrong (my go-to is to stare at them in silence the moment they say it and not budge until they repent the comment). Nobody's gonna trust you unless you mean what you say.
8: Don't listen to the gatekeepers. Anybody who tells you "oh well, that's not really punk, you're a poser!" Is missing the point and is hence the real poser.
9: Participate in the culture! Really! Go to playlists, find local bands. Go to a punk show. Make friends, participate in rallies/protests.
10: Be you! Seriously, be you. Whatever you think would look cool or would be comfy, do it. Literally, if you wanna turn a winter coat into a battle jacket, go for it. The key to punk is expression. Don't feel like you've gotta meet up to everyone else's standards. Punk fashion should be a tool to help you find yourself and what you're comfortable in, what you enjoy. If you're doing something to fit in, you're doing it wrong, and you're doing yourself a disservice.

So last night I had a dream that someone found out that the Madagascar lemurs were based on ancient gods - and it was like a historian on Tiktoc that was giving the story. She was like doing a doctoral research project on this one “dead” religion and realized that the Madagascar Lemurs were based around this religion.
And it all centered around who Maurice was gonna marry - Maurice was like a fertility god of sorts.
ANYWAY so mort and Julian both wanted Maurice’s hand in marriage but he was giving to Julian - to give balance. A cycle of death and rebirth - to keep the world balanced.
Julian was the god of death, and mort was the god of greed. And no one wanted the god of greed to have a union with the god of fertility.
So ANYWAY mort swore revenge and was secretly planing to eat the king and capture Maurice to hold for himself
But in meantime he would pretend to worship and adore Julian.
Anyway so the writers admitted that they were practitioners of this religion - and the news media was going crazy because suddenly a whole bunch of kids and teens were starting to say they were part of this religion. And turns out it was NOT dead but like just quite. And there were even hymns retelling the story of how Mort ate king Julian.
And someone said what was wrong with the world now was the union between mort and Maurice had resulted in it being a cycle of Production and Consumption. So basically corporate greed is because Mort is greed and is holding Maurice.
So instead of death and rebirth, it’s production and consumption. And so mort with a 🚫 over him had become the new “down with capitalism” slogan.

@sfs_ucla “But what about Trump?”
Tens of millions of people across the country are deeply concerned about the prospect that Donald Trump will return to the White House. Faced with this profoundly troubling possibility, many feel like they have no choice but to view the election purely as a referendum on whether or not Trump comes back into power, regardless of who his opponent is.
But for people who want to defeat the racist, pro-corporate, anti-women, war-mongering and planet killing politics that Trump represents, this would be a big mistake.
Read more about combating the “lesser than two evils” rhetoric on votesocialist2024.com.

"Never in history has violence been initiated by the oppressed. How could they be the initiators, if they themselves are the result of violence? How could they be the sponsors fo something whose objective inauguration called forth their existence as oppressed? There would be no oppressed had there been no prior situation of violence to establish their subjugation." - Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of the Oppressed.

I don't know why I felt the urge to share this but here it is, a recent job description I've been looking at.
Tumblr media
My thoughts reading:
If you don't think money is people's motivation to work you are living under a rock because too many people are struggling to live, pay bills, afford food, afford housing for money to not be the reason to apply
What difficulties? Life is hard enough. If I have to risk my health and safety for a job (which I've already had to...twice) I'm not doing it
Same to you buddy. Does your company take ownership for the treatment of your employees? Do you provide fair pay and care for them?
Again. Back at you. Has your company absorbed the recent events in realizing that people aren't gonna put up with certain things anymore and adjusted accordingly?
Sweetheart, if people leave because the grass is greener elsewhere you may need to take better care of your lawn and realize the issues that don't make it look green.
I already make decisions every day, doesn't mean I love it
How hard and how crazy? Again, I ain't putting up with certain things
Always down to learn, what are we learning?
If I had a dime... no a penny, for every company that mentions being cool or unique in someway... I wouldn't be looking for a job right now.
Growth is constant. I'm ok with responsibilities as long as I'm paid accordingly. Don't pull the doing the work of xyz and not pay me for xyz.
Anyway. Hope everyone is doing well. Please remember to take care of yourself first and to make sure companies get the message. It's not that people don't want to work anymore, it's people don't want to work for certain companies and under certain conditions anymore. Happy Monday 🙃

It's really occurring to me how absurd it is that we have to pay for electricity. Like, I live in the Sonoran desert, during the summer here it usually stays above 100°F/40°C for around 2 months straight, which means my energy bill spikes from having to run my cooler constantly - the highest it's gotten is almost $400. Instantly wiped out what remained of my paycheck. Like, that's absurd, right? People regularly die of heat stroke and dehydration here, the heat is literally deadly. I've never lived up north, but I bet it's similar during the winter with the use of heating. Making us pay hundreds of dollars to, y'know, not die? That's extortion

I absolutely fucking despise how awful leasing is. So many stupid fucking rules that just prevent people from having a place to live if you don’t meet the landlord’s perfect specifications and then you’re just fucked out of a place to live. The only way you can participate in the system is if you’re already in it but if you’re not in it you’re forced out of ever being in it.
There is a line drawn between those that have and those that have not and rarely ever can that line ever be truly crossed from the latter to the former.

Y'all.... I just
A photo would have been good. And don't talk about 'style' unless you bother to hire an artist
I'm not crazy right, this picture is uncanny. And I used to be an AI nerd, I know what it looks like. Probably DallE
Industry never cared. Capitalism seeks to expand at any cost, and the cost is ever increasingly human.

Now I'm just too tired to do anything and in too much pain to do anything. Why am I being forced to suffer when there are perfectly acceptable solutions available? My quality of life is pretty near zero at this point. I don't have the energy to do anything I enjoy anymore. My life consists of sleeping, and laying on the sofa with pillows under my knees messing around on my phone.
Oh no, wait, I know why. My quality of life isn't worth the money it would cost in the eyes of the healthcare system. Treating me won't make me able to work so I might as well die for all they care, as long as the negligence claims are cheaper than the treatment. Same as always.
