What’s great about Downton Abbey is that you’ve got the main plot with the main cast doing boring British stuff, and then there’s Thomas Barrow going on a slutty, homosexual side quest
Henry Talbot enters Mary's life at the start of Downton Abbey season 6 [the first time in season 5 episode 9; and again in season 6 episode 4], catching her eye, but it's his love for racing cars that concerns her, loathing the thought of having to go through a similar experience of losing another partner, this time in a horrific crash. Though he isn't part of the second movie, Downton Abbey: A New Era, the pair do fall very much in love, unable to resist the draw between them. Their love story doesn't end there, as they welcome a daughter, Caroline, into the Crawley family, much to everyone's delight. Mary finally gets a settled, happy life.
Ultimately, Mary's initial reluctance to be with Henry, because of his passion for cars, shows that Matthew had a huge impact on her and still plays on her mind. Proving himself to be a genuinely kind man, Henry conveys the power that love can have, allowing Mary to let herself find peace. Mary's overall timeline of relationships in Downton Abbey often indicates what stage of her life she is at, but most importantly, it portrays her will to be with the right person, on her terms. An increasingly captivating and intriguing character, Mary Crawley deserved happiness and love, no matter how long it took.

The fact that people are legitimately getting mad at each other about Thomas’s ending in the movie is fucking hilarious to me.
Did I personally really prefer Richard x Thomas to Thomas x Guy? Yeah, I did. BUT OH 👏WELL👏. He’s happy, I’m happy my dude finally gets some chill. I’m hella happy that so many people like Thomas and Guy together!! As they should!!! They are adorable!!!! You prefer them together compared to Thomas and Richard?? Okay! Im glad that they make you happy!! Glad we both agree that Thomas deserves some happiness.
This isn’t the primitive age, guys. We have fanfiction.
As long as I have Ao3 and that one Good Omens au fanfiction I wrote like a year ago of Richard and Thomas being gay and happy, I don’t have a reason to be salty.
