As the day started, Frederick awoke from his bed to the sound of his alarm. His skin burned as it always did when he woke up. “I guess that’s the cost of surviving…,” he said, throwing his legs over the bed. “Nurse, come here! I need help getting dressed.” Frederick called out into the abyss, hoping you would hear him. He was not a fan of needing help dressing; however, he appreciated you. You were as kind as you were beautiful and enjoyed your work (he assumed).
It’s weird, he thought, that you get so used to people being in your life that you don’t know what your life would be without them. That’s how he felt about his nurse. You were both his left and right hand, ensuring he was as productive as possible.
“Good morning, Dr. Chilton! How are we feeling this morning?”
“Good morning, Nurse. I’m ready to be dressed. Can you take care of that while I remove these bedclothes?” He stood up and slowly took off his bed clothes to reveal his scarring from the event. He let the shirt fall to the floor along with his pants to stand there naked at half-mast, waiting for the help of his nurse. “Sorry, I had an excellent dream last night.”
“Someone is being forward today,” you said with a smirk. “Would you like to share your dream with the class?”
“No, I’d rather not. My mind is a complex device,” he said with a smile.
With a playful pout, you said, “It is, but I’m here if you ever want to share.” You exaggeratingly bat your eyelashes at him.
Such a tease, and you know it. Ever since I watched those cameras, she’s been nothing but flirty. You know, but you haven’t played your cards yet. What are you going to do? “Thank you, but can you please help me get dressed?”
He’s apparently not actually interested, you thought. He has not responded to my flirting since I let him know I was aware he was watching me. Maybe I was wrong? Perhaps he’s just a pervert? “Yes, of course, Doctor.”
He looked at his nurse with yearning eyes; he needed a clear signal. He doesn’t want to mess this up, but how does he tell you how he feels?
You helped him dress and began helping him towards his office. “Dr. Chilton, I apologize for my blatant flirting since the hot tub and spilled coffee incident. It’s extremely unprofessional, and I’m sorry if it’s made you uncomfortable.” You cringed, thinking, “you’re healing ahead of schedule, so I should be completely out of your hair soon.” After he’s sitting in his office chair, you head towards the door. “I’ll be right back with your breakfast.” You needed to get away from him. You’ve never been so embarrassed.
Frederick was touched. He wasn’t imagining things. He stood up, “It’s ok. I never expected anyone to want me now that I have become a monster.” He looked down to the floor.
“What do you mean? How are you a monster?” you sounded confused.
He touched his face, “Since the attack, I look like a monster.”
You held your arms out, showing your scars. “Do my arms make me look like a monster? You’re not a monster, Frederick.”
He looked up at you. “Thank you, but I have seen a mirror. No woman would ever want me. Why should I even bother? I know I am more than that, but I am so lonely.”
“I quit.” You walked up to him, “You’re not my boss anymore. I’ve been flirting with you for weeks.”
Frederick was shocked, “Wait, you need to give two weeks… it’s in your contract.” He took a second and realized what you said, “You’ve been flirting with me?”
“YES! I have.”
Frederick was flabbergasted, “What? Why? I’m hideous.”
“No, you’re not. I thought I’d started being obvious with the flirting after the hot tub incident because I thought you’d been watching me on the cameras.”
Frederick blushed, “Yes, the cameras. I… may have watched you a few times.”
“Do you still need my two weeks’ notice?” you asked while trailing your finger down his chest.
Frederick was clearly taken aback, “I think it’s only customary unless you have a replacement you could recommend.”
“Frederick,” you emphasized the use of his first name. “I’m still flirting with you, but I’ll stop if I’m making you uncomfortable. Plus, I won’t go any further until you’re not my boss.” You reached up to peck his cheek before turning to grab some supplies to get back to work.
Frederick was frustrated. He knew how he felt, and this woman was throwing herself at him... but what if you couldn’t understand the real him? “Let’s try one date. Where do you want to go?”
You turned back to him in shock, “a date? Do you want to date me? Not just fuck me?!” The surprise is evident on your face. You weren’t used to anyone wanting you for more than sex or medical advice.
Frederick sighed, “Of course, I want to fuck you. I mean, look at you. I just don’t want to fuck the help.”
“You’re the one insisting on a two weeks notice.” You walked out to grab Frederick’s breakfast and coffee.
Frederick was frustrated, “I just don’t want to lose the best nurse I have ever had should we not be compatible. I’m focusing on my survival.”
You returned to the room and placed the food on the desk before turning back to Frederick, “I understand. Your survival is important to me, too, Doctor. You’ve made incredible progress with physical therapy. You won’t actually need me sooner than you think. Now. Enjoy your breakfast! I’ll give you some time to yourself before starting today’s PT,” you gave a big smile that didn’t quite reach your eyes.
Regardless if it’s true or not, you felt rejected. You knew better than to say anything, and this is what you get for trying to put yourself out there. Stupid, stupid, stupid. You should never crush on the person who signs your paycheck!! You know better. This had never been an issue until you met Dr. Frederick Chilton. You went to your room to process your emotions on your own.
Frederick looked at his breakfast and was sad. He wanted his nurse, but he had to think about surviving. He didn’t have the luxury of emotional connection. “When you survive multiple attacks on your life, you must ensure you are safe.” Then his thoughts betray him and asked, what is a life worth living if you don’t let people in? Frederick yelled into the hall, “Nurse, can you come here, please?”
Damn it. “One moment, Doctor!” You quickly composed yourself as you slowly returned to the office. “Yes, Doctor?”
Frederick smiled, “I’d love to go on a date with you. Where would you like to go? I’m sorry I was so dismissive.” Frederick smiled as he looked at the nurse, hoping he hadn’t ruined his chance. He knew he took a gamble, shooing you away. However, he was hopeful of your response.
“I’d love to go on a date with you wherever you feel most comfortable.” You were excited but also confused. Had they just gone around in circles?
“Instead of PT today, why don’t we go to lunch, and then we can go wherever the day takes us?” Frederick was trying to be confident despite being outside that zone. He looked at his nurse and smiled, “What about that café by the lake? Is the food there good?”
“Yes, of course!”
“Good. Then let’s summon the driver, and we shall be on our way.” Frederick pulled his phone from its pocket and summoned a driver from his service. “So, that’s going to be a few minutes. Since I’m dressed, I’ll start towards the door. Do you want to get dressed up, or do you want to go in scrubs?”
“Which would you prefer?”
Frederick thought for a moment. “Dressed up.”
“Sounds fun! I’ll be back,” you went to your room to change.
Frederick slowly walked down to the front door and waited for the nurse.
OMG! What do I even have to wear?! I’m going on an actual date… with Dr. Frederick Chilton. You started going through your closet. No. No. Definitely not. Hmm. Maybe. No. Oh, let’s try this one.
Frederick craned his neck to see you walk down the stairs sooner. In the salmon top with tight black pants, you made him feel lighter than air. “Ready, my dear?”
A shiver went down your spine at his use of the term of endearment. “Is this ok?” you gestured to your outfit. “If so, I’m ready.”
Frederick smiled, “I think the car is being pulled around.”
That wasn’t an answer, you thought. You walked over to him to help him to the car. “Let’s go,” you said with a big smile.
The car pulls up, and Frederick slowly walks out. He beats you to the door and holds it open. Looking at you with a nervous smile, “Chivalry’s not dead, my dear.”
“Thank you,” you slide into the car with a blush.
Frederick entered the car, “Driver, take us to the café by the lake.”
____________
The car pulled up to a small bistro beside a lake in the backcountry. The couple exited the car as the driver secured Frederick’s chair. Frederick thanked the driver, and the two walked into the bistro and were seated. The waiter brought over complimentary wine for the two as they talked.
“Don’t worry about the wine. I won’t tell your boss you were drinking on the job,” Frederick smiles.
“I'm definitely not on the job at the moment, mister”
Frederick ordered a drink and an appetizer for them to share "So this is quite the predicament we have. What do you make of it?"
"Well, let's see. You've made improvements beyond belief. You are seriously way ahead of the normal healing playbook. My boss has been spying on me throughout the house. I've been shamelessly flirting with said boss, and now my boss has asked me on a date. And here we are. I think that summarizes our predicament."
Frederick was silent "That's a perfect summation. Now the question is what do we do about it?"
"If nothing was off the table, what would you want to do about it?"
Frederick grins with a half grin "If nothing was off the table, I'd tell you how much I appreciate you taking care of me. I'd tell you that I would have never guessed a nurse would do so much to make my life better.. " He trailed off
"Is that all?"
Frederick swallowed hard "IthinkImaybeinlovewithher...."
Your eyes widened in shock, "her who?"
Frederick took a nervous drink "her you."
"OH! So what's the problem exactly? I think I love you as well."
Frederick looked at you as though he was a deer and you were a semi truck, "I'm sorry, what?"
"What do you want?” you asked.
"I would like you, in my chambers, naked." Frederick smiled.
You smirked, "that can be arraigned… in two weeks."
"Two weeks?"
"Right. After my two weeks are over."
"Oh. Well... Is this your official resignation?"
"I'll hand the official one in to you as soon as I have a chance to write it."
Frederick smiled, "I reject your official resignation. You're fired, my sweet."
"WHAT!? You can't fire me. You do realize I'll need to get anotyou job, right?"
Frederick smiled, “I've been able to stay financially solvent for centuries. It'll be ok. I can take care of you."
“I can’t let you do that. Boss to what? Sugar daddy?”
"From friend to lover and partner. Basically, it's the same deal as employment but you don't have to ever work again if you don't want to."
“Finally!! He finally said exactly what he wants! It’s a miracle,” you laughed. “But in all seriousness, that sounds lovely but also a bit scary.”
Frefrick smiled and held your hand. "You know... there is a lot more to know about me. I hope that you're ready for some surprises.''
“Oooh surprises. Good or bad?”
"Stay the night with me in my quarters and I will tell you everything"
“Now you make it sound ominous. Regardless, I'd love to stay with you.”
____________
You gasped as the door closed, Frederick had pushed you roughly up against the door. Moving his hand down quickly from your hips to your ass then around your thighs lifting you up as he slammed his mouth on yours. His tongue forced its way into your mouth and wrapped around yours. You were so caught up in the thrill of the moment you failed to realize Frederick shouldn’t be able to hold you to a door.
Frederick growls in your ear as he feels your legs wrap around his middle. His pelvis reinforced your body against the wall.  He moved his mouth to your neck, kissing and licking your neck slowly. He moans into your ear, "I need to taste you."
You moaned at the thought, "do it."
You screamed in pain as he bit down on your neck. He moved one of his hands to your mouth to muffle the sound. You switched to moaning as he began to drink from you.
Frederick began to slowly suck the blood from your neck.  As he started to drink he began to feel bolder, stronger. Frederick broke the kiss and threw you over his shoulder and marched them to his chambers.
You were still in a fog of arousal until he tossed you onto his bed. “What the fuck?! How did you carry me in here?”
Frederick laid you on the bed, “Do you want to know or do you want to be amazed tonight?”
“… both?”
Frederick smiles, towering over your body, "Well, I’m a growing, healing boy, Y/N. I’ve been growing and healing for centuries."
“Centuries?” You were visibly confused.
Frederick moved to continue licking and kissing around the puncture wound in your neck. "The Chiltons landed in Baltimore before this was more than a port. My family built this town. I was here to watch the town grow up."
“Now you’re not making any sense.”
Frederick bit your neck once again, hard enough to draw more blood but soft enough for you not to feel the cut on your neck. He wrapped himself around you like a long, slinky snake, while envisioning the bite enjoying the blood dripping into his mouth. It captivated him, driving him near mad.
“Y/N, I do not want to make sense right now. I want to make you mine.”
“What would that entail exactly?”
Frederick pulled back, exposing his fangs.
You just stared at him while freaking out on the inside.
“You’re taking this shocking news very well, Y/N.”
"Oh. Am I?"
Frederick got up and off of you “The last person I shared this with about killed me with a bottle of garlic oil and holy stakes “
"Garlic oil and holy stakes? Who?" you sounded confused.
"Someone sent by Barnabus Collins. Some Vampire from an elite family in Maine."
"Barnabus?" you snickered. I've been living with him for months now. If he'd wanted to hurt me, he had plenty of opportunities to do so. I’m just going to follow his lead, you thought.
“Yea, some asshole with money that couldn’t leave well enough alone.” Frederick put his elbows on his knees, “You don’t believe me do you?”
“Why wouldn’t I?”
"Because this is very out there. Vampires aren't supposed to exist. We have the market cornered on shadows."
“Honestly? I’m not sure my brain is on 100% after that make out session,” you confessed. “If you have any more confessions now is the time,” you laughed at the entire situation. Your boss was a vampire. You went on a date with a vampire.
Frederick looked up at you and smiled, "that's about it. I am wealthy, a psychiatrist, a published author, a martyr, and a vampire."
“Why are you telling me?”
"Because I've never felt like this for anyone before you. You've got something I've never seen before. I don't know what it is, but I want to offer you eternity with me."
"Eternity?"
"Eternity," Frederick smiled and looked you in the eyes. "I can promise you eternity, with me of course"
"Okay... how about a trial run? Eternity is a long time. You might not want to be with me that long.”
“Counter offer. I give you the gift of eternity. You still get to choose if you want to be with me? Even if you’re not mine, I still love the thought that the world has you in it.”
"What is the process?"
"Well, you've already been bitten twice. Third time you are a vampire. You start with the bloodlust soon after. We'd have to figure out how to get you a ring so you can have normal human daylight hours.. This one was a gift from my former lover who turned me into a vampire. They were cruel and hunted down by the townsfolk"
“Should we find a ring first? Also what’s the plan for the bloodlust?”
Frederick smiled, “The blood lust is invigorating. We basically hunt prey and drain them. As for a ring, we need to figure that out. I have no idea where to even start looking for a ring”
“So no more bites until we find a ring. What exactly does the ring… wait. Did you say prey? You don’t mean human, right?” you sounded a little worried.
"Well, humans are most prevalent in urban areas. My bloodlust was crazy. It was the night of the Boston Massacre. I was in a bar near the attack, and I was able to benefit from the bloodshed... along with two cows worth of blood."
“That was convenient. So what’s our plan?”
Frederick pulls off his ring and hands it to you. “I am not sure. I think... what if I cut the ring in half. We both get a half and are safe as long as we wear them?"
“What happens if that doesn’t work? How did your lover get the ring?”
"They never told me. They just gave it to me before they succumbed to their wounds."
"What happens if only half a ring doesn't work?"
"I have no idea. But you're worth the risk."
"Frederick," you said with aww and worry in your voice.
"Y/N, I want to spend eternity with you. I’m obsessed with you and I don't want to ever live without you."
"Even if we're stuck sleeping during the day and only going out at night?"
"Of course."
You threw your arms around Frederick's neck, knocking them both over. You held him tightly while you fought off the tears in your eyes.
Frederick held you close. Feeling whole for the first time, he started to cry softly into you.

Nobody makes fun of Chilton more than the people who love him. We don't think he's some super genius who never did anything wrong. We realize what a goofy, shit heel loser he is. Like, look at that sad man. Look at him trying to be impressive. Look at him and his shitty, unethical approach to stuff. Why are you like this?
Case in point, something I completely forgot during my long tumblr rp hibernation? The original tag I used for Chilton-related posts on my main blog for Freddie Lounds was "let's play doctor."
That isn't a sexy innuendo. I was literally making a joke about how bad he is at his job. I fucking wheezed when I saw it in my old tag list last night.
Anyway, I just love this asshole so much. You know?

Both @angellayercake and @gothdaddyissues tagged me for the WIP tag, thank you! I appreciate it, just been slow to respond because, y'know. Writing.
Anyway I'll give you two for the price of one--a bit from the latest chapter of my Terzo work that I feel guilty for not finishing, and a bit from the Chilton one that I can't stop writing to save my life.
From WWSAS:
When I looked back, Terzo wasn’t there.
Just as panic started to get its hooks in me, I spotted him two stores back, half-hidden from my view by the angle of the display window. The panic rapidly changed to righteous fury as I stalked back toward him, but it all faded when I saw the way he was staring into the glass.
His sunglasses were dangling limply from his hand, and his eyes were riveted on his reflection. It wasn’t even a mirror, just a pane of glass with fresh cuts of meat displayed behind it, and a curious butcher staring at him from behind a counter. There was no way he was seeing any of that, though. His face was close enough for his breath to fog the outside of the window, and he was looking into his own wide eyes, oblivious to anything else around him.
“Terzo,” I whispered, disliking even using that name in public. I didn’t react, and I put a hand on his shoulder.
Physically, he still didn’t give any sign that he knew I was there. His eyes didn’t move from the reflection. But he must have been aware of me, because he spoke. Softly, in a shocked monotone. “I look like him.”
Stupidly, I spoke before thinking. “Who?” As soon as I’d asked it, I realized I knew the answer: Secondo. I hadn’t seen it before because I hadn’t been looking for it. Because I hadn’t often either of them without their face paint. But despite the different stature, different chin, different face shape altogether, the similarities really were striking. His bald head, white eye, and strong cheekbones made him much more like his brother than usual. He hadn’t bothered shaving his face, either, and the short hairs trying to assert themselves over his lip seemed like an unintended nod to Secondo’s thin mustache.
The stupid question didn’t matter, because Terzo didn’t answer me anyhow. Instead, he let out a noise that sounded like a laugh yet was anything but. “Sembro un’imitazione fatta col culo. Quasi lo sento che ride di me.”
I had no idea how to respond to that. I doubt I would have even if I’d understood him. “Come on,” I said instead, feeling mean but also anxious. “We still have supplies to get, remember?”
*
From That Other Project:
He sat down in the wingback, and I sat down in his lap, my legs stretching out sideways over his knees and my side nestled against his chest. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“About what? The kitchen? Macbeth?” I felt the pulse of tension go through him, and slipped my hand into his robe, drawing little nonsensical trails through his chest hair with my fingertip.
“The dream,” I said, resting my head in the crook of his neck. “You were having a nightmare last night.”
“No.”
That was unusually terse for him. Even when he was upset, he managed to fit in twice as many formal or flowery words as necessary. “No, you weren’t having a nightmare?” I asked carefully, “or no, you don’t want to talk about it?”
“I know I was having a nightmare,” he snapped, making me flinch in a way I hadn’t when he lashed out unconsciously at me last night. “I have nightmares all the time. I just didn’t want you to notice.”
Ah, now his reaction made more sense. I pressed my hand flat over his heart. “Sweetheart, why not? I was glad to be there for you.”
Under my forehead, I felt his jaw twitch. “Because I don’t want your pity.”
“Hey!” I sat back, taking his face in both my hands and turning him to look at me. “I do not pity you. When have I ever acted like I pity you? I admire you, Frederick.”
His eyes canted away. “How do you respect someone who’s afraid to walk around his own house some days and clings to you like a child in the middle of the night?”
“Because I do. Because that’s not who you are. There’s a difference between pitying you and wanting to make your struggles less painful.”
“…it’s undignified.”
I smiled softly. “Again, it’s just you and me here. I don’t care about dignity. I care about you.” Seized by a sudden impulse, I touched the end of my finger to the tip of his nose.
“Ah yes,” he said, narrowing his eyes at me. “Nose booping. A solid indicator of deep-held respect and admiration.”

Listen Dr. Frederick Chilton? Great character but even greater? His actor, Raúl Esparza. I knew him first on Broadway when he played Robert aka Bobby in Broadway’s second revival of Stephen Sondheim’s “Company.” This man can act and sing so powerfully and just. Ugh. His acting as Dr. Chilton was so incredible. If you haven’t heard this man sing please give the finale number a listen

im watching the hannibal s2 deleted scenes and just finished one where will talks to hannibal about chilton, saying that he was using unorthodox methods to plant memories in his head (that hannibal was using flashing lights/ injections)... chilton was telling will what he remembered sort of thing.
its got me quite confused because i dont understand why will is saying this to hannival? he definitely doesnt BELIEVE this. does he? and is this the catalyst for chilton being framed?
someone help me out here i beg (i am so bad at media analysis)
