“…The action seemed to bring Chrome back to reality, and after wiping his eyes with the back of his right arm, his sniffles died down, but the gaze he settled on Senku was no less jubilant.

"Senku, what's going on? And why do you look so y-"

Suddenly, the man clutched his throat in horror, his eyes bulging in shock, before he rapidly threw himself on the ground, tucking in his hands and knees in order to make himself as compact as possible.

What... what is he doing? thought Senku, absolutely baffled by the man's actions…”

OK but I absolutely loved this!! like, I know they're friends, we've seen them grow up together, she was with them from the start. but this just shows that their relationship goes beyond just tolerating each other for taijus sake. she's one of his besties, an OG and I loved seeing this validated!

“…As Senku and Chrome went off to do science things, Suika said she would get started on dinner, and Gen offered his help in fetching water.

Such an offer would have made Kohaku suspicious before – and actually, she was still slightly suspicious of him, but knowing more now about Gen's crafty, but inherently lazy, personality after spending so much time with him in the forest, she knew that Gen was aware that poisoning their food would also make life harder for himself.

Besides, he won't be stupid enough to start anything right after we recruited two trained warriors…

She paused.

Well, one trained warrior and Ginro.

With that settled, Kohaku turned to her new students.

"Senku's going to do something later," she told them, not going into detail into what that something was because she had no idea either…”
