My thoughts on Dr. Stone’s Chapter 226 (“Giant Step”)

My thoughts after reading Chapter 226:

01. Ryusui’s here, and he brought them a new power supply circuit board! :D (I like how Nikki put it... space is now his! XD) It was so smart of him to go on with the training even though he knew he wasn’t going to be the pilot anymore, but having backups for all roles is very logical!

02. Hmm, I wonder if they’re taking turns being petrified, and Kohaku was the first? I’ll guess that maybe that wasn’t the original plan, but Kohaku volunteered to take one for the team so that Ryusui could enjoy space a little more? :) Or, maybe, Senku and Stanley’s skills were both more useful at the moment, so it made more sense to petrify Kohaku for now?

03. Ohh, and after Kohaku was revived, Senku was motioning to her with his head to come to the window! :) Wow, she’s the very first stone world era person to see the moon so, so close to her... :O

04. And, did Boichi draw that moon? I mean, he must have! Wow!! :O That’s so detailed and awesome!! :D

05. Aww, poor Chrome and Suika... other people had already thought of using sextants in space! XD But it was still a great idea! :D

06. I didn’t know that the moon protected the Earth from asteroid strikes like that! :O Wow... thanks a lot, moon! :D (Uh... why does the moon look so mean in Senku’s dialogue? XD) Kohaku looks like she appreciates the moon, too! :)

07. Ryusui volunteered to stay behind on the rocket at the command module... and gave up the chance to walk on the moon :O Ryusui, the man who desires everything! Even Dr. Xeno is shocked! XD

08. I’m glad Kohaku asked those questions - it was great to hear Ryusui’s answer! He made it sound like he wanted the more “special” role of steering the rocket ship, but we all know he knew that this was Senku’s moment, and that the three heroes who were launched together have vital roles! :) He knows it, Senku knows it, and I’m sure everybody knows it, too! Ryusui... the man has class! :D

09. Usually, it’s Ginro who talks about how important first words are when doing something new for the first time, but this time, Gen has taken up the role! XD

10. Hahaha! Oh, Taiju... of ALL the things you could have said, you said the ONE line that they would never use, because it’s already somebody else’s line XD Meanwhile, Chrome’s really impressed - and rightly so, because it’s an awesome line - but somebody has ALREADY said that on the moon! XD I guess Taiju subconsciously remembered that line, but forgot where it came from! :)

11. Chrome’s suggestion is nice and simple; Mozu’s suggestion is... uh... REALLY not appropriate for the occasion; and Sai’s suggestion is quite video game-y :D Ukyo’s right; it almost sounds like they’re doing improv - which in a way, I suppose they are! :)

12. Of COURSE “Get excited!” would be the line!! Of course!! Ugh, I’m such an idiot for not guessing that!! XD Well, that was a very fitting line from Senku for this momentous event! (And I love what he said earlier about their lunar mission being meaningful in a whole different way :) )

13. Congratulations to Senku for being the first man on the moon in over three thousand years - the first of the new stone world! :D He got further into space than Byakuya ever had... and I’m ten billion percent sure that Byakuya would be so happy and proud of him! :’) In the next chapter, I hope to see Kohaku and Stanley step down onto the moon as well, and maybe some zero-gravity antics? I predict that the chapter will end with Kohaku high up in the air and spotting something in the distance :)

My thoughts on Dr. Stone’s Chapter 217 (“Science Underdogs”)

My thoughts after reading Chapter 217:

01. Kohaku, normally, your great eyesight and willingness to take quick action are good things, but... couldn’t you have been just a little bit slower in finding Whyman? :( Although... I guess if you’ve spent many, many chapters establishing a character as capable, you can’t exactly backtrack... :O

02. Poor Suika... she’s really sad that they couldn’t build their two-way rocket before the others found Whyman... :(

03. When I first read this chapter earlier, I thought Chrome’s flash of inspiration was about Ryusui’s recruitment! XD

04. Mega Science Conference! :O This made me laugh really hard; I think because of the sheer awesomeness! :D Chrome and Suika, the rookie scientist team, versus Senku and Dr. Xeno, the super scientist team! I never thought that Chrome would just outright verbally protest the plan (even his tongue is determined! XD), but... it’s a totally viable option! :D Of COURSE they can all talk about it! :)

05. Before the reveal, I thought the plan was going to be to make tiny “islands” in space so the rocket could take several short trips from one space base to the next instead of one long trip from the Earth to the moon. But now that I think about it... I’m not sure how that would have helped... XD Maybe it could have lessened the risk of somebody dying on a long trip, or something...? Or those small bases could have let them launch faster counterattacks against Whyman...? :O Hmm, why DID I think that space islands would be the plan...? XD

06. They made that large sort-of schematic in just one night?! :O Studying together all these years; pulling of the Mega Science Conference; turning Chrome’s piecemeal ship plan into a plan that people could visualize... Chrome and Suika have such great teamwork! :D And showing a large spaceship like that means Ryusui will desire it, so now it HAS to get built! XD

07. Chrome acknowledging his and Suika’s lack of expertise when it comes to science compared to Senku and Dr. Xeno... bowing his head, and him and Suika showing their determination... this had to be both humbling and hearbreaking for Chrome and Suika (especially Chrome), but they’re fighting for Senku’s life, here, if he’s the scientist who’s going to go to space... :O

08. I liked Ryusui’s statement about Sai’s integrity when it comes to coding :)

09. The rookie scientist team challenged the super scientist team to a democratic vote, and it ended in a complete vote for a two-way rocket! :D Sai and Ukyo confirmed that even Senku and Dr. Xeno voted for the two-way rocket; hooray! :) And now... the next goal is... the internet? Whoa! :O

10. Chrome and Suika’s victory poses; Chrome facing the shed of science, and Suika crying... :’) They worked so hard and they’ve been worried for years about their friends dying, or at least being petrified, on the surface of the moon... and all of their hard work and strong emotion have resulted in complete victory, and the entire kingdom of science will now be working on a ship that can take everybody back home... :’) Congratulations, Chrome and Suika!! :) You did it!! :D Everybody will make it back home, safe and sound, for the victory toast!! :’) And now, it’s time to go to the next chapter and see how everybody will create... the INTERNET... in the stone world... :O
