“ I have been so long master that I would be master still—or at least that none other should be master of me. “
Do you think if Dracula had just tried to get to England as a normal guy he would have had more luck? A normal-ish passenger with a trunk full of dirt who does not eat the crew of the ship carrying him across the deadly moving water.

I'm listening to @re-dracula again now that it's all out, and Dr. Van Helsing has so many good quotes.

Affirmation Mondays 341
“There are darknesses in life and there are lights, and you are one of the lights, the light of all lights.” ~ Bram Stoker, Dracula The veil between worlds is thinning, darkness is enveloping more of our days and yet, somehow, hope and light remain… “There are darknesses in life and there are lights, and you are one of the lights, the light of all lights.” Oh Autumn, the time when the shadow…

Mina: "I hope it's not too presumptuous to pray that God doesn't massacre Jonathan in a blind angry wrath against me. As for me, I am dirt on the ground, so I deserve whatever's coming to me."
VH: "... I'm taking this typewriter away until you can think of 3 nice things to write about yourself."

Seward: Hey Dr. VH, I'm finally starting to feel not-so-depressed for the first time in this whole novel, what's up?
Van Helsing: Let's talk about the death of poor miss lucy again - how do you think she died?
Seward: I have no idea and I'd really rather not--
Van Helsing: Corporeal Transference! Astral Bodies! Hypnotism! Fine ladies at the opera! Wizards! Methuselah! Old Spiders! Giant Bats! Old Tortoises! THE CORN! *grabbing Seward by the shoulders and shaking him* Do you understand now?!
Seward, near tears: I have no idea what's happening right now.

Look okay, I'm not saying these two are one for one copies of each other, and there's probably some essay in here somewhere about grief vs anger and neglect vs abuse and how those things can and do intersect.
BUT I am saying that the quotes: "Your greatest gift to me, and I'm killing him," and, "You, Dad. I'd still have you," and their (Dracula & Omni-Man) subsequent reactions immediately afterwards are things that both had me staring at the cieling for a long time after I turned off the TV.
#I'm not even sure where to begin like... the irrepairable damage to my psyche that Dracula quote did is unparalleled; and the fuckery with#which Nolan goes about literally everything in the show will never stop fucking me up.#invincible#castlevania#nolan grayson#omni man#vlad dracula tepes#dracula castlevania#also for clarification Dracula is my favorite of the two and arguably more capable of being redeemed despite teeeeechnically being the only#one of the two to actually attempt a genocide but also I am fully willing to admit that might just be because of how badly he pulled at my#heartstrings but also there's just something about how we see things from Dracula's side and never from Nolan's#We see a man destroyed by grief- loosing his mind to it- and see his pain and how the loss of his wife did this to him and spilled out into#the world around him and that's unapologetically Dracula; but we only ever see Nolan through other people's eyes. We love him at first#because his family loves him; we love him as they do; and then as the show goes on that image of him begins to crack like their love for him#does and I just... djahdjajdkja we don't actually SEE him until Mark says this shit and it FUCKS with me.#Also for extra clarification I have not read the comics for Invincible nor finished S3 of Castlevania.#So I might also be operating on partial information but I had to get these thoughts OUT.#invincible amazon#netflix castlevania#immortal fuckhead#also I couldn't find a gif of the invincible convo so y'all just get Baby Mark- so I guess enjoy that instead of Bloody AF Mark-
