🐉 A Brief History of Dragons by Eyra🐉

I read this fic last summer and it was so pretty. It’s super short and sweet and it was just what I needed at the time. It’s Wolfstar meets Arthurian legend, in a modern AU.

I wanted to do some more book covers for my portfolio, so I made this one.

I want to thank @eyra for the beautiful story, I loved it. This one is for you✨💛

sirius and regulus run away AU but make it moonwater/moonseeker

they do go to the potters and sirius immediately fits in, they're a family of eccentric extroverts and that's exactly the kind of people sirius adores - regulus doesn't, though. he still has hang ups about james, euphemia is Amazing but he's truly not comfortable with her expansive nature and fleamont is just barely better.

anyway remus stays for a bit during summer and the plan is to bring him home (the lupins dont have a floo connection) and stay for dinner there. except. hope is immediately enamoured with the tiny, sarcastic teenager standing moodily behind his older brother - reg is quiet and looking at the bookcases more than at them but still managing to snark and jokingly insult the others in a way that makes her genuinely laugh. and remus is so clearly fond of him, the two of them going back and forth easily.

and regulus likes her too - hope is warm but quiet, motherly but in a subtle way. and lyall is gruff and clearly doesn't know what to do with all these teenagers but he still looks at his family with love even if he doesn't know how to show it. they're a little broken, a little less clean and polished than the potters are. and regulus likes it that way, prefers their quaint little home (with the yellow paint peeling off of the old wooden front door) to the splendour of potter manor.

he visits often, during that summer. until he's pretty much only going back for sirius (living without his brother, even after everything, would be too unnatural) because he's got his own bed at the lupins', his own bookcase and space in remus' closet.

(sirius knows his younger brother. he pushes reg to accept the offer of staying over more often, even if it feels weird to have breakfast without him outside of hogwarts. he stays at the lupins' himself, as much as he can, just to give reg more opportunities. sirius has a mother in euphemia, regulus wont let himself admit the same about hope.

sirius has only ever wanted happiness, for his little brother. he wont let regulus give up on it for his sake. )

this is all to say: reg at home with the lupins, building a close friendship with remus and falling in love with him through late night talks and mornings spent together and long nights crying softly under the light of the full moon - hope has two sons now, both happier than they've ever been. lyall watching his wife and son welcome another boy into the family is exactly the kind of shock he needs to start proving that he can be part of it too. remus and regulus being loved and loving in return. life has never been so good.

Dragon

"I want you to tell the story about the dragon, Padfoot," little James said imperiously.

"I think you already know the story, James…you could probably tell it to me and Moony at this point," Sirius said with a wink at Remus.

"Yes, I can," James said, settling himself in Remus's lap. "Are you listening?"

Sirius slid in next to Remus, pulling both close.

"Once upon a time, there was a boy who had to fight a dragon," James said clearly. "He was very brave. He had to figure out how to get the golden egg from the dragon."

"So how did he do it?" Remus asked, smoothing James' s hair affectionately.

"His friend was very smart and she helped him learn a spell to get his broom so he could get it," James recited, his brow furrowed in concentration.

"Did he get his broom?" Sirius asked.

"Yes. He got it and then he flew to get the egg from the dragon."

"The end?" Remus supplied.

"The end," James said, sounding sleepy as he leaned against Remus.

"Nap time, mate," Sirius said, lifting James out of Remus's lap.

an au idea i had

patton is a father of four. he’s a usual dad; funny, protective, into sports, sweet to everyone, doesn’t swear or the one that says “there’s no swearing in this household!” he is against alcohol, but he doesn’t confront logan about it harshly.

logan is his husband. he’s a wine and cig momma obviously. tired, never wearing efficient clothing, swears the most, and the kids call him mom because they already call patton dad. he drinks way too much but tries not to expose the kids to anything. he tries to be a good parent, but he’s still trying to get his life together.

roman and remus are their two oldest, being 15. roman has the passion and love of patton but the anger issues of logan. remus has the upbeat energy of patton, and the feral swearing of logan. the two always fight, but can get along when looking after the younger two.

virgil is the middle child, being 12. he gets really nervous around logan because of his aggression so he depends on roman and remus for a lot of things and was basically raised by them and patton. he nerds out to remus about a lot of things and plays a lot of games with roman.

emile is the youngest at 8 years old. he is a little quiet like logan but they’re both great listeners. he has patton’s happiness, loving personality, and smile. roman got him into disney and remus and virgil got him into cartoons. he looks up to his parents the most.

janus is logan’s brother and the kids’s uncle. he also drinks but not as much. he comes to visit every little while and knows a lot more than everyone. him and patton are friendly, and remus sees him like a third dad. janus’s daughter is named dolores, the dragon witch.

dolores is the kids’s cousin. they call her the dragon witch because of her obsession with the wings of fire series and the dark academia aesthetic. she’s very intelligent for her age, being 14 years old. she’s very close with the twins, mostly remus, since her and roman don’t get along too often.
