The way one could possibly figure out that Johann was the bad guy by watching episode 9—EPISODE 9—of Riders of Berk. Because he’s the one that gives Mildew the blue oleanders to plant. And he has to know what that means for dragons right? A trader such as himself should know anyway, disregarding the fact that second time watchers would know he’s a traitor.
I just need to know. Did the writers know about Johann this far back? Was this the beginning of his nefarious schemes?
And did the writers know what they were doing when Johann passes Berk the information about the supposed weapon Dagur is testing that turns out to not be true at all?
And I have other questions.
All the boats Heather tried to escape in. We only saw the one attempt but she had been doing it a few times between the two episodes. Was Johann leaving boats out for her? Because the episode seems to imply that there was always just a little boat waiting for her. Otherwise why would she be running to that beach instead of commandeering one of the Berk boats at the docks.
And Breakneck Bog… HOW DID HE KNOW HICCUP WOULD GO AFTER HIM? That’s a Viggo move, was he already working with Viggo? And he was probably hoping those Smothering Smokebreaths would weld the teens to the nest right? Or they’d be stranded forever?
And when the speed stingers attacked! Hiccup had left Berk to save Johann. Coincidental timing? I don’t know! Did Johann release the speed stingers? Was it truly just a case of bad timing?
And the baby smokebreaths that Johann brought with all the scrap metal. We know Dagur had a Berserker plant that but did Johann know what he was doing?
But also!!! Stoick would have clocked it as off if Johann’s attitude switched up as soon as the dragons were welcomed on Berk. Meaning Johann definitely wasn’t acting all evil asshole before the times we see him in the shows.
So my man was in this for the long haul. What reason, Johann? This level of foresight is beyond even Viggo. Predicting the exact island where there would be a boy who trained a dragon and ended the war with dragons? Spending literal decades building trust and this fake persona?
JOHANN, WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOUR PLANS??? I NEED TO KNOW!!!
i love rewatching dragons ride of berk, because in this episode,i think it’s episode 14 season one?
the living it striking metal right and this old motherfucker moss? mildew? THATS THE BITCH! sad name anyways this old bitch is like hey it’s toothless and for some reason the rest of the towns like yeah sure so then they capture toothless and they’re like hey we’re gonna kill your dragon and only after they capture toothless and have him at the docks does stoick be like hey i’m the cheif maybe i should control this like holy fuck i’m laughing so much.
Since, as I've mentioned in previous posts, I feel like the Nine Realms show gets way more hate then it actually deserves and because I found the main characters dragons to be pretty interesting, I thought I'd provide some headcanons on their species that I'd come up with. Starting with the most obvious choice-The Night Lights.
Most modern Night Lights like Thunder ARE the descendants of Toothless's children but after thousands of years, their genetics have become distinct enough that they're able to breed within their own species without worrying about inbreeding. Originally, if they needed mates, they'd find them among the Light Fury species.
That being said, the Night Lights still have a violently small population in comparison to most other dragons. Knowing their numbers are few, Night Lights tend to gather into herds or groups that are led by a pair of Alphas similar to Toohless and The Light Fury once leading the Hidden world. Thunder being all alone is actually very unusual as most Night Lights are very social and stay together. It's also why he was able to so easily bond with Tom.
Like a zebra, the black and white patterns on a Night Light's body is unique to it. No two have the exact same pattern and it's easy to tell which dragon is which by their spots.
When facing off against larger dragons, the Night Light pack uses their numbers and their unique coloring to their advantage. They fly together at high speeds so that their black and white parts start to blur together and confuse enemy dragons on where to attack.
Night Light dragons aren't just born through Night Furies and Light fries having children or through two Night Lights breeding. When a Night Light breeds with a Light Fury, any dragons that aren't pure white are considered as Night Lights and are welcomed into the pack.
Night Lights and Skrills are natural enemies because the Skrill often attack their groups until the Night Lights retaliate with their electrical abilities and the Skrill can absorb their electricity into their bodies. Skrill attacks are a serious concern for Night Lights as they wear down their already small population.
Here are some screenshots I screen-snapped in 2013 and decided to post them here.
So we have the opening title scenes for The Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon, Dragons: Riders of Berk, Dragons: Defenders of Berk and Dragons: Race to the Edge.
I’ve been thinking about Johann way too much lately.
Anyway, Johann driving around for god knows how long on that driftwood waiting for Hiccup to find him is giving Viggo crouching down in a metal cage for god knows how long waiting for Hiccup to find him. Only difference is one was way cooler because it was Viggo.
